Been thinking about this lately but, which of the Kid pirates do you think has the highest alcohol tolerance? How many shots of whiskey can they do?

I feel like Wire would only get 3-4 shots in before he falls over and starts french kissing the floor.

I think their tolerances are higher than we'd expect. Pirating life does that to you, especially since low-level grog/ale would have less sanitary worries over the long haul than water.

But that's maybe a bit too much logistical realism in our funny pirate anime.

I think 3-4 shots is enough to get everyone chill. A couple people tipsy. 5-6 shots and there's drunk laughter scattering about even though nothing really funny was actually said.

7 shots and maybe Bubblegum is wearing a pretty pink bonnet and getting the other crew members to call him pretty. Because of his bonnet.

8 shots and a good bit of the crew (Mosh, Pomp, UK, Gig, REck, Papas and Compo) are starting a mosh pit, except there's no music and it turns into a game of duck, duck, goose.

9 shots and Heat's drawing his tattoo design on Wire with grease crayons, and Wire's letting him. Quincy is pulling small arms out of her hat and Hip and Hop are just clear headed enough to confirm that all the bullets were removed earlier.

10 shots in and Kid is looking a little regretful, but he's not going to admit it yet, and Moai and Jaguar are out - they keep stopping and starting Row, Row, Row Your Boat and mixing it up with In The Hall of the Mountain King.

11 shots and nothing changes, but a few duck, duck, goose players are asleep.

12 shots in and Kid is telling Killer how pretty his eyes are, but Killer's still wearing his mask. He's respond, but he actually fell asleep just after the 10th shot and no one noticed.

13 shots in, it's just House and Emma, but House concedes, because in all their years as a crew, no one has out drank Emma, and hardly showing signs of being tipsy as it is.

i think the Kid Pirates 100% sleep with each other. it obviously depends on each members' individual sexual preferences and who they're attracted to, but most of them have slept with each other at least once.

everyone is romantically involved with each other in some way and some of them are probably in polyamorous relationships with each other. Heat for example has something going on with Wire, Haikei and Emma. then Emma has something going on with Quincy and Gig. even the members who are in relationships with each other can sometimes be seen flirting or making out with other members (consensually of course, cheaters are not welcome). Killer is involved in a pretty serious relationship with Kid but is often spotted flirting with Hip and Bubblegum.

however, if a crew member is in a relationship and they decide with their partner they want to be purely monogamous then the entire crew respects that opinion and does not overstep the boundary. the Kid Pirates are a crew who love each other in so many different ways, that goes beyond just being coworkers. they love, trust and respect each other.

now if a crew member got into a serious relationship with someone outside of their little family (both gang au or not), i can see that person getting very mixed reactions. the Kid Pirates are a big family who are united through shared traumas of being seen as different and outcasts so it takes most of them a while to adjust to suddenly having someone new hanging out with them. some of them warm up to strangers fast (Dive, Moai, House.) and others can take ages to accept a stranger (Disc J, Mosh, Jaguar) or wait until they've felt the stranger has proven themselves (Killer, Pomp). but since they're a family, they will always prioritise trying to accept this new stranger in a fairly respective and civil way for the benefit of their fellow member. the last thing they want is to accidentally scare off someone's partner when there's no need for it.

A Chaotic Evil Water Genasi Cleric is their choice of character. They wanted to somehow have their PC be related to water without it being a Fish-kin like themselves. So, Wire had suggested a Genasi instead. They wanted their set to go with the character, so Fishsticks has picked blue as the main colour with silver numbers. To make the dice a bit extra, they also added glow in the dark dye, making it easier for when the lights get a bit dim when they're playing until late at night.

🌹ꦽꦼ̷  Osiris

Osiris would play with this dice set. It simply has everything she needs, blood and skulls. She also likes the colours, and it reminds her of her pet snake. She would definitely play a Dragonborn Barbarian, who is Lawful Evil, because she likes the strength and aggression behind that combination.

🌹ꦽꦼ̷  Grunge

His choice is a Yuan-Ti Bard as one of the limited number of support PCs in their campaigns. He heard that there's the possibility of a snake-folk race, as well as a performance oriented class, and he was sold. His dice are of a rather monochrome theme just like the rest of his belongings, their colours being inspired by dark snakes' scales reflecting the light. His character is most likely Chaotic Neutral, too.

A Chaotic Evil Kobold Bard is Mo's choice of PC. He didn't know what else to go for, so he just picked out whatever sounded fun. However, he left picking out his dice entirely up to fate - aka Kid, Mosh Eun, who were tasked with crafting all of the dice. So, Mohawk ended up with a golden and blue metal set. But also, the sound they make when he's rolling, or is just playing around with them scratches the itch in his brain; and he likes that a lot.

Oscar decided to make a Lawful Neutral Hill Dwarf Druid, giving him his own smarts and other strong suits. Out of everyone's characters, his is the either A) the Most Reliable One, or B) the Actually Most Chaotic One. But it has the tendency to A because of him usually having to be one of the emotionally smartest and calmest people in the crew. And to match his character's Dwarven heritage, he picked a dice set decorated with Dwarven / Norse runes.

Chaotic Neutral Forest Gnome Warlock is exactly what it sounds like: "I am magic mushrooms", and "Fuck around and find out". He asked for a forest inspired set. Eun rejected the "mushrooms inside" request because they thought he'd try to eat the dice if they put mushrooms inside. So instead, his set was made with actual bits of moss, sticks, grass and dried petals molded into the resin.

They play a Chaotic Neutral Bugbear Fighter. Mosh just thought they're neat and suit him. Unlike the others, they asked for a crystal clear, undyed resin mold with round edges and some copper elements that align with his PC's class as a Fighter. It had taken them a lot of thinking about what his dice should look like, initially wanting a rather flashy set, but ending up taking Eun's suggestion of the one that can be seen above.

Body modifications for Kid Pirates and fanon characters! Who's got them, who's giving them, and how was the experience? I imagine their are a couple of tattoo artists and piercers on the Victoria but who has the most interesting story either giving or receiving 🤣

these are very very good questions that you're asking, and i have so many headcanons about this

Kid Pirates who has body modifications/piercings/tattoos:

Kid - helix, industrial, orbital and lobe piercings in his ears, really wants a dick piercing

Heat - all of his stitches on his body are tattoos and has industrial and helix piercings in both ears

Emma - had a body modification done so she can have elf ears and 6 piercings in each ear, also the Kid Pirates jolly roger on her left hip

Hop - nipple and ear piercings, also a book quote tattoo above her chest

Quincy - is a trained piercer and has lip, eyebrow, bellybutton and nose piercings

UK - nose piercings and stretched earlobes from plugs which he forgets to put in

Noe - dick, tongue and ear piercings, also has a tramp-stamp tattoo of his name (he doesn't know why, he was drunk)

Gig - body modification in the form of an eye tattoo in his left eye so its a different colour (red) and tattoos of different guitars on each knuckle

Bubblegum - ear and collar bone piercings, knuckle tattoos spelling his name and a bubblegum packet

Wire - dick and tongue piercings (Wire, Haikei and Noe all got tongue piercings together) and his brothers' names tattooed on his right arm

Compo - has 1.5cm plugs in both his ears and various tattoos on both arms (including a drawing Dive made of him)

Oscar - eye tattoos on both eyes to make his pupils white

Papas - has 2cm plugs and a tattoo of a tortoise on his back

Haikei - lip and tongue piercings, is a trained tattoo artist with multiple tattoos which he designed (including a bad drawing of a dick on his actual dick) and lets Dive design him new tattoos

Moai - simple ear piercings

Reck - has the name of his old band tattooed on his upper back

Boogie - ear and collarbone piercings and a small tattoo of the Kid Pirates' jolly roger on his right shoulder

Jaguar - has a large tattoo of a panda playing the guitar on his left thigh and his old boxing name tattooed across his collarbone

Kid Pirates who don't have any of the above:

Dive - hasn't expressed an interest in piercings yet, is also forbidden from getting tattoos or changing her body until she's at least 16

Hip - afraid of needles but wants ear piercings or a small tattoo of a dragonfly soon

House - as the crew's doctor, she has dealt with too many horror stories to want anything done beyond ear piercings

Killer - just isn't interested, but came to this decision by also witnessing most of these horror stories

Mosh - hasn't gotten around to getting anything done yet

Pomp - thinks he already looks cool enough and that he's too old to do modify his body with anything

who has the most interesting stories:

Haikei - he woke up one day hung over and panicked over why his dick hurt so bad. he sprinted to find House, demanding she take a look at it to find out why it hurt so bad. Haikei was convinced it was a STD and poor House had to inspect Haikei's penis until she spotted the awful drawing of a dick. to this day he has no explanation as to why he did that to himself when he had barely drunk anything compared to normal (it was a whole vodka bottle).

Quincy - who got punched in the face when piercing Bubblegum's collarbones because they weren't expecting the pain to be so bad, despite Quincy reminding Bubblegum how low their pain tolerance is.

UK - sneezed when he got his nose piercings and got snot on the person he paid to pierce him. the sneeze also meant he didn't get one of his piercings in the place he wanted it.

😊 Murder at the Island Hotel (Miss Underhay Mystery #15) (Helena Dixon, author; Karen Cass, narrator) - Kitty & Alice go to an island hotel to certify it for the local hotel owners assn & of course murder happens.

😍 Operation: Gros Michel (SquadOfCats) - 358K, stucky recovery fic - incredible, phenomenal fic - really digging in to trauma & recovery but in a way that doesn't feel too heavy/dark for very long - Steve's POV so we see his healing & recovery, and his finding purpose again. Amazing OCs. Plus a lot of really, really yummy sexy times. Reminds you that hope is an action, hope is hard, and hope has many manifestations of being. also makes you love Florida at least a little bit.

😊 Where The Inevitable Isn't (Survivah) - 41K, sterek, alternate dimension AU - enjoyable dimension hopping fic with Stiles Prime portaling to a more dystopic/gritty dimension where he & D are super together. I really liked the aspect that they could ping pong back & forth between dimensions, it wasn't just a one-time thing

I know music aus are overdone for Ed and Izzy and their crew pre-Stede (or at least that particular au is pretty well saturated for both pre and with Stede) but

(very rambly au talking below the cut involving a fic draft I'm working on rn. I attempted to make this slightly easier to parse by italicising my Additional Thoughts and putting them into their own paragraphs and brackets but. There's a lotta love for this au and it's late so this is messy, bear with me while I babble excitedly.)

I'm really loving dipping back into the one I started for AU-gust and adding onto it with other bands. Like, I'm finally writing this one particular Dethklok/Queen Anne's Revenge

(placeholder band name for Ed, Izzy, Fang, and Ivan bc it does fuck as a band name in a weird way since I see them being like. purposefully subversive with it? in terms of lyrics/things sung about/album artwork/etc. Like, y'all remember the chants at football games when the queen died last year or whenever that happened I don't remember and fuck looking it up bc. I don't give a fuck abt the royals lmao? Lizzie's in box? that's the vibe for anything for them when they get political, v punk and fuck the state which is entirely too reductive for how much More I have in ideas for this sphere of things for them but that's not what this post was meant to be about so i finally digress-)

idea wherein they play a show with Dethklok, specifically water-themed. All the water/ocean/mermaid/pirates/etc things like that songs that both bands have are on the setlist, and. And. Dethklok, as the hosting band

(aka Charles needed to clean things up and distract from the latest spate of accidental concert deaths, and QAR's current management in the form of one shithead extraordinaire Ben Hornigold doesn't give two fucks about what he signs them up for as long as he gets the biggest cut out of it, so he doesn't even appreciate that like. the world's most famous band and their manager approached them, an also v famous but not as famous considering this is now an AU where Queen, Dethklok, QAR, and other musicians/bands are all hobknobbing far more than they ever might irl thing, band. Without any reason. Just chose them at random. If u thought Ben was bad in canon I'm somehow making him even more insufferable and shit in this au, he's just Bad At His Job but stumbles into success on Ed, Izzy, Fang, and Ivan's talents. Whatever, off topic AGAIN but I just have so much I love and wanna talk about with this au-)

Set up a new sort of pit/stage design. The operating idea is a clear, aquarium like tank or pool, where the fans can float and headbang away, all while feeling like fishes themselves! It's very clever, you see, and definitely won't result in anyone drowning when it turns into a mosh tsunami

(spoiler alert: it is clever, but not really, and so many people are gonna drown. Luckily, in this fic Metalocalypse logic applies bc only Dethklok and QAR are involved, so they can bask in that universe's ability to kill people constantly as part of Dethklok's Whole Thing without it being a big deal, though this is from Izzy's POV and a big part of it is him realising that and coming to terms with it as they play through people just. Literally headbanging hard enough into violently sloshing water to drown themselves, with a smile on their face because they got to see Dethklok, finally.)

Also Murderface is the opener as one-man Planet Piss and it goes so poorly for him and Izzy and Ed are just. So mildly grossed out by how it goes down and sweetly concerned.
