Well good news, I just finished reading SAFT Volume 6. It was such a great read and I really enjoyed getting a deeper look inside the world of the series, especially the events when Lafall had taken Anne and Shall captive and the last few chapters revealed quite a bit.

Anne and Shall Almost Kiss Confirmed!

In episode 23 of the anime, the scene showed it looked like Anne and Shall were on the verge of sharing their first kiss. That's what I always suspected and after reading the book, my hunch was right! Anne and Shall did in deed want to kiss each other, but because of Lafall's words, it caused them both to back off in fear they'll make the other unhappy. DAMN YOU LAFALL! YOU RUINED ANNE AND SHALL'S MOMENT!

Shall will stay with Anne Forever!

In the anime's last episode, when Anne and Shall both expressed their wish for each other's happiness and Anne told Shall that after fufilling his promise to her, that he should leave to properly live his life the way he wants, Anne had no idea of Shall's meaning when he said "forever". It turns out even if that day ever come, Shall would never leave Anne's side, but instead, Shall would continue to watch over and protect her happiness from the shadows. HE NEVER WANTS TO BE APART FROM HER!!!

The ending is so bittersweet. Anne and Shall's love has become so incredibly, amazingly strong. Their love is undeniable, but now because of Lafall, there is a wedge between them. (I HATE YOU LAFALL!!!) It's going to take a while before they can bridge the gap and Volume 7 will be the first step to helping them.

Also one last surprise twist. In the final pages Keith announced he had quit the Radcliffe Workshop and asks Anne if she'd like to open a workshop together with him!! I was wondering when this would happen. I found out from past spoilers that Anne and Keith would form a partnership together, but I just didn't know when. I assumed it was going to happen in Vol 7, but I wasn't expecting this!

I'm looking forward to getting Volume 7 in November this year and again, I REALLY WANT TO ANIME TO RETURN TO COMPLETE THE REST OF THE STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this last line by Keith because he's projecting his own feelings on the situation: he believes him leaving caused the Paige workshop to decline, and the guilt associated made him think that the others wouldn't care for him anymore.

By extrapolation, this makes him also think (wrongly) that the Paige artisans don't care for Anne because she's an 'outsider', someone who was brought in only to fix the workshop and be free to go on her merry way afterwards.

And it couldn't be farther from the case. They're all frustrated by their lack of power and control over the situation: if they could, they'd already have tried to save her and Shall.

Right now, the only thing they can do is keep up the sugar crafting so that Anne won't feel guilty or disappointed her abduction set them back.

Once again, Elliot is a master of hiding his true feelings and appearing casual, but Keith saying they didn't care for Anne was the straw that broke the camel's back. His voice actor does an amazing job, switching from casual to angry back to jovial.

I also love how Elliot also takes the time to address Keith's hidden issue (the one about feeling like a traitor for leaving them) and set things straight.

If Anne and Shalle weren’t so set in stone as the main couple of this series, I think Keith would be a very good match with her.

He respects her, looks out for her, encourages her.

He treats Anne as she wants to be treated as an artisan, shares her core values and despite them being rivals, they are also good friends.

Which just kinda makes this more painful to watch cuz even if/when Keith does develop feelings for her later on (if he hasn’t begun to already), the plot won’t allow Anne’s heart to wander too far to look at other choices

……goddamnit, Second Lead Syndrome!! 😅💢

I just noticed something pretty interesting about Shall whenever he gets jealous of Anne and Keith together. He always tends to get jealous whenever he sees them holding hands!

It first happened in Episode 10 of the Anime when he caught them running together, sparking his jealousy for the very first time. He is NOT happy seeing this sight between them and looks away even more annoyed. He can't bear the sight of seeing the girl he loves with someone else!

The second time is Volume 8. At this point, the love triangle between Anne, Shall and Keith has truly begun. Shall catches them together and once again, he sees them holding hands as they experiment with silver sugar. Shall gets so jealous that after seeing them, he takes Anne away with him and confronts her about Keith and his confession in a separate room!

Which leads me to what I just read a bit in Volume 9. Fans of SAFT were kind enough to let me know about a Reddit page for the series where loyal fans have begun translating the light novels. Chapter 1 of Volume 9 was posted tonight and the first chapter featured an interesting moment between Anne, Shall and Keith.

The group had once again returned to Holy Leaf Castle and were admiring the renovations for a new project. Keith was just about to take Anne's hand again, but before he could, Shall steps in and slaps his hand away! Shall's actions show he is taking Keith's previous words to him in Volume 8 to heart, where Shall is finally beginning to act on his feelings for Anne and isn't going to give her up without a fight!

Shalll doesn't want any guy laying even a single finger on Anne. Just goes to show how much he's in love with her, cause Shall wants Anne all to himself! I can't wait for more chapters to be posted and find out what's next!!
