After everything that had happened in his life from losing Cecil and even living in the streets was better than the life he ended up enduring as a noble. He lost everything and even when he tried to reach Sophia Reeler she pushed him away too. He thought she was like him, someone who got pushed into a spirit animal god and was forced to be this for the nobles entertainment. As he sat in the prison of the academy he had time to think about his whole life leading up to this point. As he did tears laced his eyes he remembered simpler times when he and Cecil took care of the two little ones and fed all the kids in the street. He would have never even became a noble if Cecil didn't think it could help the kids of the street. He still remembered that happy smile on his face, the last real happiness he himself even felt was that day. He closed his eyes not knowing his fate here on out but not caring anymore either.
He heard a bit of scurrying around in the dark, he lifted his head to see a dark haired girl making her away past the guards who had fell asleep. She had the keys she had stole as she made her way to opening the prison cell of a few others before getting to his. She paused as she looked up at him her soft brown eyes sincere and for a moment gave him hope before she went to walk away when he grabbed her cloak. "Hey...please...." She looked back took a breath then nodded as she unlocked his door, whispering softly. "Follow me." He questioned nothing and followed behind her as they moved passed the guards into a cubby hole where everyone else had slid into and out the other side. She let him go first then followed after. As they reached the other side the others thanked her and headed off their own way outside the academy. She looked at him nodded again and went to walk off putting her cloak her head. He knew he could let her go but he needed to know why, he grabbed for her arm as she slipped out of his grip. "Oh...um sorry was just curious why you helped me." She softly whispered with a barely audible reply that if he didn't have cat ears he would have never heard. "I help everyone that get puts in there."
There was something about how she was reacting that he couldn't put his finger on but it seemed like she had a spirit animal but he wasn't sure what. "Are you.....noble blood?" She looked back at him a sad look appeared on her face she nodded "I have no place in that world anymore, they killed my family. This is why I help anyone they put in prison." She went to turn and walk away, normally his speed would be on par but he was still week so as he jumped in front of her so fast he toppled back and fell on his butt. She stopped and smirked before a small smile appeared on her face. "Ah...a noble blood too I see. What's your spirit animal...oh no let me guess. Hmm...a giraffe cause your all legs when you got here and fell maybe?" He scowled at her and huffed as she helped him up from the ground. "I'm a leopard and yours? I was never really noble I was taken from the streets to have my family in the streets parish." She smiled at him she nodded and waved him to follow her. They walked quietly although he wondered why she had not even answered him yet. They walked what seemed like forever until they came into a small clearing. She pushed back the branches and this lovely field stretched out across beautiful farm land. He continued to follow her to a small barn in the center of it, as she pushed the door open and motioned him inside. "This is my home...ain't much but its still mine."
He was a little confused what spirit animal would live in a barn in a field then it dawned on him. "You're....a....you're a mouse huh?" She nodded in agreement. He found himself softly blushing. He had noticed her beauty almost immediately and even as he saw she fought for the same cause he did think it could be a great match but a mouse...that's the opposite of what he was. He went quiet but she knew that look all too well. "I know I'm not some prowling animal but because of my sneakiness and ease to disappear into the shadows is why your sitting here right now. Trust me I get it your a cat decent and me your enemy by blood. You can eat and leave if you need to." He sat there quietly eating letting her words sink in planning to leave after. He watched her move around the room cleaning things up. She then took her cloak off as she pushed it back her dark hair came flowing out hitting her shoulders and he gasped, she was gorgeous he couldn't help be awed by her. What was this feeling his hands became sweaty and his heart was beating as hard as it could almost out of his chest. He had never been in love but he was sure that 5 feet from him was the woman who had done stole his heart and saved his life. Whether she naturally born his enemy he wanted to shake that thought it was noble belief it was what he was trained for when he took on his spirit animal. However he wasn't always this as he was sure neither was she always a mouse.
This delicate creature in all her beauty, he just couldn't take his eyes off her. She was lovely and splendid with a voice of a angel, he was purely smitten in this moment. "Hey....its not like that. I mean sure our noble side says this but do we have to listen, I want to break free what they did to me, to you, to everyone they have tainted." He took a breath before continuing. "I want us to work together to show the nobles its not ok to take poor kids from the street to use as their whim and then throw us away like animals if we don't do as they tell us." She looked back at him as he gave this speech of his, nothing she hadn't heard before but no one had proved to stay and fight that fight before being selfish of their own needs first. She spoke up. "Such courageous words for someone who was just in their prisons, don't you think?" He sighed softly she was right and he knew it. He thought quickly into what to do next before she could walk out the room which she was making her way to do he blurted it out. "They killed my best friend and burned the homes of children that I once took care of." She stopped at the door looking back at him, reading his face and noticing no trace of lies as the tears pricked his eyes.
She softly responded "I'm sorry for your pain, this is what they do. They killed my family because they thought I could be the next gorilla, so you can imagine when they found out I was a mere mouse. They made trade with my family promising them I would have a better future than barely eating each day but that I could still see them." She clinched her fist before continuing. "This is what they promised them and they told me they would take care of them feed my mother and father along with the unborn baby my mother was carrying. Then when it came up I was a mouse they killed them all in the night, and I didn't even know for days until I snuck out to see them." Tears had already started streaming down her face, the pain although years ago the pain was still raw emotion, that she had never told anyone until him. She felt like he would understand, and before she could say another word she felt warm arms engulf her. The normal reaction she would pull away but this time she needed this as much as he did. She leaned into him closing her eyes, soft breaths as the tears fell down her face muffled into the crease of his neck as he held her. They stood there in that moment, one that seemed to tick away with every breath. Not sure how long they stood there before she pulled back and looked up at him. With her meek breath she softly said with her voice breaking in emotion. "If you mean it, I will fight by your side to end this for once and for all in what they do to the children of the street and the families and friends we once had."
They worked on ways over the following weeks that they could at least shelter the poor of the city from the nobles hands. If they wanted to make their own these spirit animals so be it but they needed to somehow stop them from taking children from the streets and poor households to ruin them and kill the innocent left behind. The academy made it hard because they were teaching kids they were the good guys at such a early age when in truth they stood on the side with the most blood on their hands. They couldn't bring back Cecil or her parents but they could hopefully stop it from happening the next time to the next person. As they went through solution after a solution and coming up empty they were at near exhaustion but they had grown closer than they thought. He was captivated by her long before this but this was the first time he wanted to act on it. This day like any other but after so many failed attempts he just wanted to hold her and tell her how sorry he was that he hadn't found away to take away her pain in helping others. He always would care about the kids of the street especially Cecil but this had become way more than that, when he looked at her he wanted to take away the pain, he wanted to love her in a way that he felt she never even knew.
Today as she walked through the open door as she woke up he was putting food on the table for her to eat. It wasn't much cause he had no idea how to cook alot but he was trying. She smiled as he sat the plate down in front of her as she sat down. "What's the occasion that makes you want to try....to cook for us?" She giggled happy that he had done this but also amused by the fact it really wasn't prepared well. He chuckled along side of her as he sat down. He reached over grabbing her hand and interlacing his fingers in hers. She didn't pull away but their eyes met before he could say a word his heart spoke millions of words in just that one look. "I am uh....pretty sure....nope I'm positive I'm falling in love with you." She had never heard those words before, she hadn't known any love since her family. However as he poured his heart out she realized in the last few weeks they grew closer that maybe she was falling for him too. She caressed his hand a moment before standing up and walking over to him. As she stood in front of him looking down she caressed the side of his cheek. "I think I am too...." She wanted to say more but before she could he had stood up catching her off guard and capturing her lips in his. She gasped her breath catching in her throat before she wrapped her arms around his neck and he pulled her even closer to him.
After this day they were not only inseparable but their love was blossoming into such a beautiful thing. They had even found that they were able to come to a conclusion to save the people of the city from the noble. They bought a piece of land and built a whole town it took them months and getting people from town to help them. After they did they talked all of them to join them living there out of the reach of the nobles hands. They made their own home amongst these villagers where they could all live happily. This was their beginning still but as their love grew stronger for each other the town flourished even more until one day she met his gaze holding her tummy letting him know they were to have their own family. A son that would one day carry the name of Cecil, as they would soon be married and would live a happy life as cat and mouse could truly love one another no matter their original paths.

Original Poem - Let Me Reign In You
Let Me Reign In You
Time apart drained color from my skies, And proved I’m incomplete without you by my side. We may clash in heated haze, Still, my soul calls out your name in these hectic days. Your love restores what pain had torn, It breathes me full, it keeps me warm. If I must perish, let it be In all your love surrounding me. Let me drown where I belong, In depths of you, this feeling can never be wrong. The thought of walking life without your love is death, It steals my hope, my soul, my breath. Shattering every wonderful dream, Tears now fall in soft, unspoken streams. My heart beats loud, it aches to not have you near, Each moment cherished in your care, every second you’re there. This epic love has marked my skin, I can't go back to what has been. No tale, no path, no world feels right, Unless you're near, where all feels right. I ask for more, because I found the one I’d never trade, And fear you’ll leave me or your love will fade. You soothe my soul with praise and words you speak, But fear returns the following week. You tell me to not listen to your words but your actions, For your love shines stronger within our connection. When your words betray what you once explained, I’m left with my heart bled dry, and emotions drained. So hold me tight—don’t let me fall, I’ll give you trust, I’ll give you my all. Just pray it’s not too late to mend What my heart once taught me to defend. I feel your love in every trace, But silence slays with cold embrace. It bruises deep where light once shone, Yet you're the soul I still call home. I won't let go, I still believe My rarest peace, my masterpiece. Still, in this love, you've built a throne, Please say you're staying—don't disown. For I your queen, your love, your soulmate, Beside my king, I claim our fate. No touch but yours will reach this deep, No kiss but yours will haunt my sleep. I curtsy low before my king, My heart in hand, my everything. I strive to be what makes you whole, Just promise, please… don’t let me go. Let me reign within your existence, truly yours, Where love is absolute and unity endures. Claim me fully, not just in a dream, Stand together with me, we shall rule as king and queen.

A/N: I told you the descent would be fast… but you didn’t listen, did you? I had a lot of fun writing this chapter. 🤭 📱
Chapter 3: What are we now?
The moonlight shimmered into your room like someone had blown a handful of silver glitter and let it slowly cascade to the floors. Shadows from the tree outside your window stretched across your carpet like long bony fingers. The leaves swaying gently in the wind. Your door shut with a soft click as you pressed your back against it. You stared down blankly to a random spot on the carpet. Watching the shadows of the leaves dance slowly. Your heart still slightly elevated as you think about what happened at the diner.
Caleb kissed you. Actually kissed you. Your cheeks burn as you raise your fingers to your lips, brushing softly over them. They still tingled, still feel the pressure from his mouth. You can still taste him on your tongue.
Your heart thudded and you squeezed your eyes shut as the memory came flooding back. The way the kiss started off as a gentle press of his lips to yours but then Caleb groaned. He full-on groaned and had moved his lips against yours like he was starving, like your mouth was the first decent meal he's had in a long time. Your thighs press together as you remember the way his tongue, gentle yet firmly, worked its way into your mouth. You're whole body felt alight, your skin on fire as the hand cradling your cheek moved to the back of your head, fisting in your hair. His other hand gripped your thigh tightly and when you whimpered against him, Caleb lost it.
His tongue played with yours. God, you felt yourself getting drunk on his taste. The feel of your slick tongues sliding against each other. You felt saliva pooling at the corners of your mouth but you didn't care. All you could feel was Caleb, all you could taste was him. Eventually, after what felt like a life-time, he pulled back and what you saw next made you melt even more. Caleb's eyes shone a bright glassy violet, his lips were kiss swollen and his cheeks were dusted a pretty shade of pink. You wanted to kiss him again, hell you even leaned forward, lips parted and inviting but Caleb had stopped you. His breathing was ragged and his firm grip on your hair loosened.
"Not yet..." He whispered. With reluctance, he pressed another small kiss to your forehead before releasing you and sliding back to his side of the booth.
You were left sitting there, flustered, dazed and undeniably wet. Before either of you were able to say anything else, Gideon had returned to the table and just like that. The kiss had never happened.
But it did happen and now here you are leaning against your bedroom door, knees weak, underwear damp and a heart beat that hasn't slowed down since the moment you first saw him sitting there in that booth. You finally find the strength to move, your feet dragging across the floor as you make your way to your bed. Your pyjamas already laid out, a habit your mum has yet to quit even though you've told her a million times not to go into your room. However, tonight, you're grateful for it. You slip into them and slide into bed, your body moving slowly and mechanically.
You lay flat on your back staring at your ceiling, listening to the sounds of the night, the possums running across the roof sound like horses galloping. You've always wondered how those tiny fuzzy things sound so fucking loud, especially at night time. You turn your head to the side with a sigh, sleep refusing to claim you. Everything that happened still on your mind, the kiss, the goodbye, the silent ride home with Gideon who kept nagging you about your flushed cheeks. Your gaze drifts to your night stand where your phone charges. The sound of your heart beating in your ears almost overwhelms you. Should you text him? Will he even respond? Unable to resist you reach over and unlock your phone. You find Caleb's number, thumb hovering over the screen.
It was 10pm. Maybe he went to bed as soon as he got home. Or maybe he was just as awake as you were. Before you could second guess yourself you typed out a message.
[Message to: Caleb]
I can't stop thinking about the diner...
You hit send and then bury your face into the pillow. What were you doing? This is a bad idea, you should just go to sleep. What if he regrets it all? But he didn't look like he regretted it... god that blush on his cheeks, he looked so cute. Suddenly your phone buzzed.
[Message from: Caleb]
Go to sleep.
Three words, no acknowledgment of what happened. Your breath caught in your lungs. Go to sleep? Go to fucking sleep? Oh hell no. You tossed and turned until you sat up, cheeks burning, heart still racing and now? Now you were kind of furious. You weren't gonna let him deflect. A smirk formed on your face as your thumbs flew over your touch screen.
[Message to: Caleb]
I can still taste you on my tongue...
The three dots kept appearing and disappearing, you bite your lip smiling as you imagine Caleb flustered over your text. So you quickly type out another one.
[Message to: Caleb]
You use your tongue so well... I can't stop wondering how it'd feel lower.
You watch as the three dots disappear again and they stay gone. Your breathing gets heavier as you hold your phone up in front of you. Waiting and watching to see if Caleb will take the bait. Then, you see the dots again.
[Message from: Caleb]
Stop.
You don't know what you're asking for.
Go to sleep before I make a mistake I can't take back.
You giggle softly, careful not to be too loud as your parent's room is right next to yours.
[Message to: Caleb]
Is it really a mistake if we're both thinking about it?
Be honest, you're thinking about it too...
The next few messages appear fast, one after the other. Your eyes widen and your heart feels like it's gonna burst out of your chest as you read them. You press your thighs together tightly, and you swear you can feel a pulse in your cunt.
[Message from: Caleb]
Fuck...
You want me to really say it? Fine.
I'm thinking about you on your back, thighs shaking, my mouth buried in your pussy until you forget your own name.
Happy now? Pipsqueak.
Christ! You were wet now, so fucking wet from reading that text and imagining it. You squirmed on your mattress unsure of what to say or do next. You've never done anything like this before. You think about the porn you've watched in the past, that one time when you were curious about sex. Your hands tremble as you type out a response.
[Message to: Caleb]
I'd grip your hair while you're between my thighs...
Not to make you stop.
To keep you there.
I think I'd like watching your face when you're tasting me.
Not even 30 seconds after you send those messages your phone buzzes violently in your hand and your stomach twists as you see the call screen appear. Caleb's name flashing across your phone like a warning. You stare at your phone like it's a grenade about to go off. Your breath is stuck in your throat but, like a moth to a flame, you swipe to answer,
“Hello?” your voice is breathy. Like you're not sure if you can actually take a breath right now. There's silence on the line for half a second but then his voice, low and rich slides through the speaker like warm honey.
“Pipsqueak.” You swear you can feel him smirking on the end. "That's cute." His voice soft and lazy now. Like he's lounging somewhere dark and warm. "You wanna tell me more about what you'd do? or should I tell you what I think you're really like?" His voice was now dripping in amusement and sin.
You press your thighs together, and bite your lip again. You can feel sweat forming on the back of your neck. "C-Caleb-"
"You're trying to sound like one of those girls. Like you know how this goes." He cuts in, his tone lower and rougher. You suck in a sharp breath, your face feels hot now. “But you don’t,” he murmurs. “Do you?”
You swallow the dry lump in your throat, unable to answer him.
“I knew it,” he breathes out a dark laugh. “You’ve never had a man’s mouth on you. Never been eaten until you’re shaking, crying, begging not to stop even though you can’t take any more.”
Your pulse roars in your ears, you can feel the dampness in your underwear getting worse.
"You're so innocent, it's killing me." His voice softens, still teasing but now with that sharp edge of hunger. "You really think you'd keep my head there, baby? One taste and you'd forget how to breathe."
“Caleb—” your voice is barely a whisper but Caleb doesn't stop.
“I’d have to hold you open for me,” he goes on. “Pin your hips down because you’d be trying to squirm away. You wouldn’t mean to but it’d be too much. Too good.”
You whimper. Actually whimper.
“God, listen to you.” His voice cracks on a laugh, dark and tender all at once. “You’re already falling apart and I haven’t even touched you yet.”
Suddenly the line goes silent, you don't hear anything other than the sound of your own thundering heart beat. Then faintly, through the speakers you hear it. A shift and a creak of leather, like he's leaning back. The faintest rustle of fabric and then the sound of zipper being pulled down. It's loud and almost ear piercing. Your breath catches as you whisper. "C-Caleb?"
A low and shaky exhale fills your ear. "Oh no, no, no…” his voice low and teasing, “You have no idea what you do to me." His voice is raw now, almost dangerous. "I wasn't planning on this but then you started with those pretty little texts..."
You hear a faint sound in the background, a slick rhythmic noise. It makes your cheeks burn as your stomach knots tightly.
“Now I can’t stop.” His words are tight and strained. “I’m sitting here with my hand wrapped around my cock because of you, Pipsqueak. Because of that filthy little mind of yours.”
You gasp as you press your thighs together again, heat pools low in your belly.
“Shhh…” His tone softens but doesn’t lose that dark edge. “Don’t get shy now. You started this. You wanted to know what my tongue could do?”
“Y-yeah,” you whisper.
“Good girl.” That praise makes your toes curl. “Then listen to me. Take your hand and slip it under those panties. I want your fingers where mine should be.”
Your heart thuds wildly. “Caleb—”
“Do it.” His tone sharpens, but there’s a thread of something softer, like he’s fighting to stay gentle. “I want you to feel how wet you are for me.”
You hesitate for a moment but then you obey. Your fingers brush over your slick folds and you gasp. It was obscene how wet and warm you were.
“There you go,” Caleb breathes out. The sound of his hand stroking himself grows louder and faster. “Now circle your clit for me. Soft. Slow. I want you aching by the time I let you cum.”
You whimper again, your breath trembling as you follow his instruction. Circling your clit with shaky fingers, your back arches as you pick up speed slightly. The pleasure immediately shooting through your entire body.
“God, I can hear it in your voice. You’re already close, aren’t you? So fucking eager. I should be teasing you for this, but fuck—” His voice breaks as a groan slips out. “—I’m too busy imagining how sweet you’d taste.”
The sound of his slick strokes becomes your undoing. Your hips buck slightly up into your hand. Your movements becoming rushed and desperate. You gasp with every breath. The wet sounds of your cunt fills your ears, and your face burns hot with pleasure and a little bit of embarrassment.
“That’s it, Pipsqueak. Let me hear you. Let me hear how much you want my cock. You’re thinking about it, aren’t you? Thinking about me sliding into you for the first time. Stretching you open.”
“Ah—Caleb—” You moan out, biting your lip to try and muffle it.
“Say it,” he growls softly. “Say you want me inside you.”
“I—I want you—” You whimper.
“Fuck…” His pace falters, then picks up again. “Say it properly.”
“I want your cock inside me.” Your fingers are moving faster now, your body starting to tighten. Like the string of a bow being drawn tight.
“Jesus Christ.” You hear his breath hitch. The slick sounds speed up. “You’re gonna make me cum. Are you close, baby?”
"Yes-" You sob as your hand moves faster, circling your clit like your life depends on it. Your breath is coming in shaky little gasps, thighs trembling as the heat builds and builds.
“That’s it,” Caleb groans into your ear, his voice breaking around the edges. “You sound so pretty like this. So desperate. God, you have no idea what you’re doing to me.” You can hear him now, really hear him. The wet, slick sound of his fist pumping over his cock. The hitch in his breath every time he squeezes a little tighter. You can picture it too clearly, him sprawled on his couch, head tilted back, his shirt rucked up, fist working himself in long, rough pulls.
“Caleb—ah—”
“You’re close, aren’t you? I can hear it. Hear it in that sweet little voice.” He groans again, low and broken this time. “Fuck—I’m so close too. You’re gonna cum with me. Say it. Say you’re mine.”
“I’m yours—oh God—” You gasp as your toes curl.
“That’s my girl.” The wet sound of his strokes speeds up. “Now cum for me. Let go, baby. I want to hear you.”
Your body locks tight, the tension snapping all at once as blinding pleasure rips through you like wildfire. You cry out his name, your back arching as your fingers keep moving, riding out every wave of your release.
“That’s it—fuck—fuck—” Caleb’s voice cracks as you hear him groan long and low into the receiver. The sound is raw, almost animalistic as it spills out of him. The slick sound of his strokes falters, then stops with one final, choked breath.
Then there's silence except for the sound of you and him breathing, ragged and uneven.
“Jesus Christ,” Caleb murmurs finally, his voice wrecked. “You’re gonna kill me, Pipsqueak.”
You let out a shaky laugh, still trying to catch your breath. “You sound like you’re dying already.”
He chuckles softly. “You have no idea what you’ve done.” There’s a faint rustle, like he’s fixing his clothes. “You’re gonna drive me insane.”
“You’re already there,” you tease, but your voice is soft now, sated and warm.
Then there's silence again. It's the kind of silence that feels like a storm holding its breath. You can hear Caleb breathing on the other end, slow and deliberate pulls of air like he's trying to tether himself back to sanity.
“Pipsqueak…” His voice is so soft now, it makes your chest ache. “You’re so fucking beautiful.”
Your fingers tighten in the sheets and your heart skips a beat.
“You don’t even realize, do you? How you sound when you fall apart like that. How you breathe my name like it’s a prayer.” There's a faint rustle, it sounds like his palm dragging over his mouth. “I don’t think I can let anyone else hear you like that. I don’t want to.”
“Caleb—”
His laugh low, bitter, and almost sad cuts you off. “No. I don’t want to share a single piece of you. Not your laugh. Not your time. Not those pretty sounds you make when you’re too far gone to hold them back.”
“Then don’t,” you whisper.
Another silence falls but it's heavier now and darker.
“You say that like you understand what I mean.” His tone is quieter, more dangerous now. “Like you know how deep this is already sinking. You don’t. You couldn’t.”
“I want to,” you say, and you hate how breathless you sound, like you’re not scared at all. Like you’re just as far gone.
You hear his breath hitch. Then his voice drops lower, a little rougher now. “I’d burn this whole fucking town down before I let anyone else touch you.”
Your thighs clench at the sheer weight of his words.
“I shouldn’t say that. Christ, I shouldn’t even think it,” he murmurs. “But you’re inside me now. You’re in my head. Under my skin. I can’t—fuck—I can’t even imagine you smiling at someone else.”
You swallow thickly, your voice a trembling whisper. “So don’t imagine it.”
“I won’t,” he says, softer this time. Almost reverent. “I won’t. You’re mine. Even if we never say it out loud, even if the whole world tries to rip us apart… you’re mine.”
Your breath catches. “And I’m yours,” you say before you can stop yourself.
There’s a sound from his end, painful and hungry all at once. Like you just handed him your soul and he doesn’t know what to do with it.
“Go to sleep, beautiful,” he says at last, but it’s not a dismissal. It’s a plea. A fragile tether holding back everything else he wants to say. “Go to sleep before I do something irreversible.”
You swallow softly. "Goodnight, Caleb." You whisper.
“Sweet dreams, Baby,” he whispers. “And don’t you dare dream about anyone but me.”
Before you can say anything else the line goes dead and then you're left there, in your bed, absolutely wrecked and staring up at your ceiling. Your heart fluttering in your chest, and your underwear ruined. You wonder what this all means now, for you and him.
What were you two exactly? Things were spiralling so fast. From that kiss, to phone sex. All under your parent's and Gideon's noses. God... they'd lose their fucking minds and yet. It all feels like a dream come true. Caleb's possessive words should have pushed you away, should have frightened you in some way but it didn't. It makes you want him even more. This is so messed up, you think to yourself. Suddenly, your phone buzzes against your chest, startling you.
[Message from: Caleb]
Don't overthink tonight. Just sleep.
See you tomorrow, Pip.
Your heart fluttered, of course he knew you were spiralling right now, you don't stop the smile that spreads across your face as you read his text. You take a deep breath, hold it for a few seconds and then release it slowly.
[Message to: Caleb]
See you tomorrow. <3
~
Caleb sat in his office. It’s lunch time now, students and teachers have come and gone, all asking for things from him. Honestly, it felt like a blur. Like he was a robot moving on autopilot. His mind was still stuck on what he did last night. How far he let everything go. He tries to tell himself that it was wrong, that he should regret it but he doesn’t. Fuck, he doesn’t. The way you sounded, your innocence… all of it making him feel crazier than usual.
He can’t get enough of you and that desire to taste you is stronger than ever. Caleb leaned back in his chair, one hand resting on his desk, his fingers tapping to an unknown rhythm. His other hand pressed against his mouth. His fingers brushing over his lips. He didn’t mean to take that kiss at the diner that far either but once he got that sweet taste of your mouth he couldn’t stop. God, and your tongue, soft, sweet and wet trying to fight his. It was adorable and utterly addictive.
If it wasn’t for the public setting and Gideon being close by, he probably would’ve had his way with you right then and there. He would’ve slipped his fingers under that dress and straight between your thighs. He would have teased you over your panties, prodding and rubbing. Fuck he would’ve loved to hear your moans right then while his mouth claimed yours. To taste your moans, whimpers and your surrender.
Caleb shifted slightly, his pants growing uncomfortably tight again. He hasn’t seen you today yet and to be honest, it was driving him crazy. Then, as if you had put chip in his brain and read his mind, a rhythmic knock sounded through his office. There you were, looking devastatingly beautiful, leaning up against the door frame. Your uniform clinging to you in all the right ways. That mischievous smirk around a red lollipop that had no right to look that sexy.
Caleb stiffened slightly and he struggled to fight his own smirk. “What are you doing here, Pipsqueak?” His eyes lingered on your mouth, the way the lollipop sat between your lips, then slowly drifted his gaze to your eyes.
Your tongue swirled around the lollipop, teasingly, before sucking lightly as you pulled it out of your mouth with a soft pop. “Is it a crime to visit my favourite Professor during lunch?”
Caleb exhaled slowly as he relaxed against his chair, his fingers pressed harder against his mouth. His cock throbbing now after watching you mouth that lollipop. “You should eat something more substantial for lunch.”
You roll the round lolly slowly across your lips, that smirk still on your face as you step inside his office, closing the door behind you. “Something substantial…” you stop in front of his desk, hip jutted out as you lick the lollipop while keeping eye contact with him. “Like you?”
Caleb cursed under his breath, he shouldn’t be entertaining this, not here, not now. Not where any body could walk in but, fuck, he couldn’t stop. He watched you intently, holding his breath, as you walk around the desk. “Something… healthier.” He says softly, his voice raw.
You giggle, taking your time as you get closer to Caleb. “We can’t all be obsessed with apples.” The heat between you made the whole room feel hotter.
Caleb swivelled the chair as he leaned back to face you, his thighs spread and you could clearly see the bulge in his pants. God, he looked huge. Even contained behind his zipper. You sucked on the lollipop again and Caleb bit back a groan and his jaw clenched tightly. “Well, you know what they say.” He flexed his fingers. “An apple a day…” He drifted off as he watched you take another step. You’re standing right in between his legs now.
You hold the lollipop up between the two of you while smirking. “I think you’d approve of this flavour by the way.” You bring the lollipop closer to his lips as you lean down. Slowly closing the gap still between you. “Do you wanna taste?” You whisper, daringly.
Caleb’s eyes narrowed slightly, his breathing ragged and his gaze firmly on you. Jesus Christ, you knew how to play dirty for someone so innocent. He already knew what the flavour was, he could smell it. That artificial, sickly sweet apple smell. He didn’t say anything, fuck, he shouldn’t be entertaining this at all. He smirked as he leaned forward, his head tilting, lips parted to taste the lollipop but you pulled it back slightly.
“Ah, ah.” You tut. “At the same time.”
Shit. You’re a fucking menace and Caleb loves it. He felt a jolt to his cock and it throbbed painfully. He didn’t say anything, he just nodded slightly. Your smirk widened to a smile as you brought the lollipop back between your lips.
Then, at the same time, you both licked at the lollipop, your tongues brushing gently as you taste the candy between you. Caleb groaned softly, his hands clenching, fighting the urge to pull you closer. God, your taste mixed with the candy was intoxicating. The rational part of his brain was screaming at him to stop this, that this was dangerous. But then you whimpered softly and that stomped all over logic.
His large hands found your hips gripping tightly before smoothing over to your ass. Kneading the plush flesh. Then he guided you to straddle his lap and fuck you did easily. He started to kiss you now, the lollipop long forgotten as you drop it. The sound of it clinking against the desk barely register between you. Your hands fist his shirt, keeping him close as possible to you as the kiss deepens.
Your tongues fighting for dominance now, the sweetness from the candy still lingering in your saliva.
You moaned softly as Caleb guided you to roll your hips, and he moaned too as he felt your warmth grind against him. “Fuck…” he whispered between kisses. His hands found your ass again, squeezing tightly. “Did you lock the door?” His voice was raw and low.
You barely finished nodding before he claimed your mouth with his again. It was desperate and hungry now. He bucked his hips up slightly as you ground down, you both moaned at the friction.
Every time you pulled away slightly to catch a breath, Caleb would chase you. Keeping your lips locked with his. The sounds of your kissing were the only things you could hear right now. Everything else melted away. All that mattered was the feeling of his clothed erection rubbing against your hot and damp pussy.
“You’re gonna kill me…” he murmured between your lips before gently biting down on your lower lip.
You gasped before smiling into the kiss. “You love it.”
Caleb groaned louder, kissing you harder. One of his hands left your ass, his fingers trailing up your inner thigh and getting closer to your aching cunt. Your heart was jackhammering in your chest, the anticipation making you ache for him more intensely.
Then you felt it, his finger tips brushing along the edges of your panties, he pulled back from the kiss, breathing heavily. “Jesus… I can feel how hot you are already.”
You felt a heat creep up your neck and spread across your cheeks. Your breath faltering with every delicate trace of his fingers.
But then his fingers stilled and his head slumped forward. His forehead resting against your chest. You could hear him breathing heavier now.
Your fingers clenched in his shirt. “Caleb?” Your voice was soft and low.
Caleb, nestled against your chest before pulling back and looking at you with glassy eyes and blown pupils. He pulled his hand away and grabbed your hips tightly. His ears were slightly pink. “We can’t do this here.”
Before the disappointment could spread across your face he kissed you again, it was a restrained kiss this time. You could feel it in the way he held his breath, the way his jaw was tight.
He wanted, fuck did he want to but he knew if he started. He wouldn’t be able to stop and he doesn’t want your first time to be on a desk, in his office. When he pulled back again, he gave your hips a quick and gentle squeeze before brining up his right hand to your face. Cupping your cheek gently, his thumb brushing it with a soft and aching tenderness.
“There’s too many eyes here, baby.” He watched the look of confusion flash through your eyes. He let out a slow breath. “I know you want this and believe me. I want this too.”
His eyes searched yours, his pupils still blown wide and he was looking at you like you were the most precious thing in the world. “But you deserve better than this, Pips.” He pressed his lips to yours in a soft chaste kiss. “I want to be with you properly, not keep you hidden behind locked doors.”
“Caleb…” You pulled back slightly. “I just want to be with you. I don’t care which way.”
Caleb exhaled, his hand on your cheek slid to the back of your head. Grabbing your hair gently. “I know, we can be with each other.” Then he let your hair go and pulled you into a crushing hug. His face burying into the side of your neck. He inhaled before placing a kiss to your neck. “Just not here Beautiful… please.” He breathed against your neck, a soft plea. His breath causing goosebumps to rise on your skin.
Your throat went dry, guilt knotting low in your stomach. Maybe you did push it today but you couldn’t help it. You want Caleb, you want him. Badly. “I’m sorry-“
“Don’t apologize.” He cut you off as he squeezed you a bit tighter. “There’s a lot you don’t know about this school…” Caleb paused as he thought about Sylus and what he did to help him. But you didn’t know that. Eventually Caleb pulled back and looked you in the eyes. “I don’t want you to see me getting escorted out of here in handcuffs.” He barely whispered. “I don’t want you to see me as a monster, I want to protect you. From everything and everyone.”
You could feel there was something Caleb was holding back. Like there was more to this than just what happened last year with Professor Solana. But you didn’t press. Especially when you saw Caleb’s gaze softened.
“Let me take you out on a date first. A real date.” He spoke softly now, reverently.
Your heart slammed hard against your ribs, a smile of genuine happiness spread across your face. “Really?”
Caleb smiled too then kissed your cheek. “Yes, really.” He kissed your other cheek, softly. “This Saturday. Okay?”
You giggled softly as he kept placing small kisses over your face. “Okay, okay.” You breathed out as you sat up straighter, your cheeks a pretty shade of pink. “This Saturday.”
You both smiled at each other, hope blooming between you that this could work. That this was the beginning of something beautiful.

Chapter 2: The Line We're Already On
The morning sun spilled through the half-cracked blinds, casting warm stripes across your bedroom floor. You sat at your vanity, brushing your hair slowly. Your mind was distracted with thoughts about what happened yesterday afternoon. You could still feel the ghost of his touch on your cheek and his lips on your forehead. The weight of his hand and how it tangled with yours like he didn't want to let you go.
'We can't.'
Except he had. You bit your lip as you dragged the brush through a knot a little too hard. The sting on your scalp as your hair tugged through the brush doing nothing to distract your mind. Downstairs, you heard the clatter of mugs and the hum of the morning radio float up through the floorboards. Your mum was laughing and your dad was grumbling about the toaster again. The normalcy, the domesticity of it all should have grounded you but it didn't. How could it? When everything you were feeling wasn't normal. You dressed slowly, mostly because your fingers trembled with every button. You adjusted your skirt three times even though it already sat perfectly on your hips. Nothing felt right, your clothes felt too tight, your temperature too hot and your breathing was too fast for this time of morning. Suddenly a knock on your door interrupted the silence.
"You up?" your mum called out from behind your door. "Come down, someone's here!"
You frowned slightly. What? Who would visit this early in the morning? You padded out into the hallway, your socks muffling the sound of your footsteps on the floor and that's when you heard it. A low, familiar voice from the kitchen. Laughing and being playful with your parents. You froze as you as you reached the bottom of the stairs and that's when you saw him. Gideon.
He was standing by the bench with a coffee in one hand, looking a little broader and more tan that last time you saw him. He had a smug look on his face too.
"Look who's back!" Your mum grinned, wrapping an arm around him.
Gideon look up and his grin widened. "Hey Squirt."
Your stomach flipped, not from seeing Gideon again but from everything he doesn't know but you shove those feelings down. Deep down.
"Gid!" You rushed over and pulled him into a hug, praying to good you don't look as guilty as you feel.
He squeezed you tightly and ruffled your hair like he's always done.
"Man, I leave for a few months and you get taller?"
"By like half a centimetre." Your dad muttered behind his coffee cup.
"Still counts."
You laughed along, trying to play it normal. Like you hadn't just tried to kiss his best friend 12 hours ago. Gideon took another sip of his coffee while leaning back against the kitchen bench like he still lived there. Like nothing had ever changed. You kept side-eyeing him as you started to get your breakfast ready. The tremble in your hand still slightly there and the feeling of your pulse pounding erratically in your chest.
"You seeing the guys while you're in town?" Your dad asked Gideon.
"Yeah," Gideon nodded. "Gonna catch up with a few from school and Caleb."
At the mention of Caleb's name your hand paused mid-pour of your cereal, barely a second but it didn't go unnoticed by Gideon. He raised an eyebrow as he looked at you.
"What?" you said too quickly.
Gideo smirked at you. "You still have a crush on him?"
You choked on your spit, coughing trying to move that bit of saliva stuck to your dry throat. Your mum turned shaprly.
"You alright sweetheart?"
"Fine!" You coughed out, waving it off while your cheeks burned. You could feel Gideon's grin from across the table.
"Jesus, Gid." Your dad muttered. "She's not twelve anymore."
"I'm just saying," Gideon shrugged, chuckling as he reached for some toast. "You used to follow him around like a duckling."
You rolled your eyes and grabbed your glass of juice, bringing it to your lips. "Yeah, and you used to eat glue."
“Touché.”
Your parents laughed and the moment passed. Gideon cleared his throat and glanced at the time. "Anyway, I told him I'd swing by after school. Meet him in the parking lot near the gym."
You glanced up way too fast and your voice was far too casual. "Can I come?"
Three sets of eyes turned to you and Gideon squinted. "Why?"
Shit.
You couldn't say what you wanted to, couldn't say 'I want to see the man who almost kissed me last night. Who held my hand like a prayer.' You couldn't say, 'I want to look him in the eyes and see if he's drowning like I am.' So you smiled, that same tight and practiced smile you wore when you were lying.
"I forgot my jumper in the PE locker room. Thought I'd grab it while you two catch up."
Gideon stared at you for a long time. Enough time for you to feel the thick tension rise between you. The sound of the ticking wall clock suddenly sounded too loud, drowning out the mundane noises of your parents sipping their coffee and eating breakfast with no clue of the storm raging inside your head. You could feel the sweat start to form on the back of your neck as Gideon kept his unwavering gaze on you. Like he could see through your flimsy lie, it was summer you idiot! Your jumper was still in your closet collecting dust. He noticed the way you shifted slightly, your discomfort obvious but like a saving grace, Gideon shrugged his shoulders.
"Alright." He said simply, as if he didn't just spend the last minute making you sweat with nerves.
But now you had an in and your heart was pounding. Not because of the lie you just blatantly spat out to your brother. Your heart was pounding with how badly you wanted to see Caleb again, even under the watchful gaze of your brother. Your fingers curled under the table and your thighs clenched together. A heat pooled low in your belly as you thought about Caleb. You couldn't wait to see his reaction.
~
The halls were mostly quiet, which was kind of absurd for lunch-time. However, the crowd had thinned and the few voices that were left turned into distant echoes. You moved fast and silent. Like your sneakers were ghosts. Like you didn't want to be seen, because you didn't. You were on a mission and your target? Was right behind the next door. Your heart was already slamming against your ribs but it only intensified by the time you reached the familiar door. You raised your hand ignoring the slight tremble and knocked twice. The sound rang out and for a moment you were worried he wasn't there.
“Come in,” his voice finally called through.
You opened the door slowly and stepped inside. Caleb looked up from his desk, pen stilling mid-grading and just like that, he stopped breathing. You stood in the doorway, backlit by the hallway light, hair slightly windblown and eyes too steady. You looked too good and too ethereal to be in front of him like this. Caleb didn't speak or move, his body still frozen as his purple gaze raked over your breathtaking appearance. You didn't move either, you let the silence stretch tight between you. Then finally, just to grant him some form of mercy, you spoke.
“Thought I’d say hi.” Your voice was soft and breathy. Unintentionally, or maybe intentionally, making his jaw clench. His fingers tightened harder around his pen.
“You shouldn’t be here.” He said through gritted teeth.
“And yet here I am.”
Caleb closed his eyes and exhaled through his nose. He sat back in his chair slowly and then opened his eyes. "Your brother's back." He said in a low voice.
"I know." You say as you take a slight step forward.
"I'm seeing him later." He added, his voice a bit firmer.
"I know that too." A smirk slowly started to form on your face.
His eyes locked onto yours, they were sharp and begging you to stop. "And you still came here?"
You reached behind you and closed the door softly and deliberately. The sound of the lock sliding into place was almost deafening. "I needed to see you."
That did it. Caleb stood up fast. His chair scraped against the linoleum as he rounded the desk, with incredible speed. He didn't stop until he was right in front of you. His hands twitched, aching to touch you but he didn't.
"This," His voice broke and then came back rougher, "This is already a mess. You can't just show up here, especially in the middle of the day. Do you want someone to see?"
"Would it matter if they did?"
Caleb froze, your dangerous words piercing through his chest. You didn't know, of course you didn't know. You only knew about the scandal that went public. You didn't know there was more than one teacher-student relationship in this school and you didn’t know that he helped the other teacher get away with it. His friend and soon-to-be former colleague. You didn't know that Jenna was still keeping an eye on things. You didn't see what Caleb saw, what Sylus went through just to be with the girl he loved and now here you were. Putting each other on that same dangerous path. He watched as you tilted your chin up, defiance in your eyes but they were also burning. Burning with an ache you were clearly not even trying to hide.
"I can't stop thinking about yesterday." You whispered.
Caleb looked away, his fists clenched tightly at his sides. "I meant what I said," He murmured. "We can't."
You took a step closer again, this time your chests almost touching. The heat pulsing between you. It made your cheeks flush. “But you want to.”
Caleb didn't deny it, he couldn't because he does. He wants to grab you by your waist and sit you down on his desk. He wants to feel your soft skin under his rough hands, wants to hear the noises you make that no one else has ever heard yet. God, he's dreamed about it. Every night. You don't know that he checks your social media every single day. Just to make sure you're not giving your attention to someone else. You don't know how close he was to adding your number to his tracker app so that he'd always know where you were. But more than that. He wants to protect you, to be the only thing that matters to you in your life. He wants to keep you safe from all the thunderstorms that you're probably still scared of. He wants to be in a world where it's just you and him.
He finally turned to face you, his eyes shining with everything you can't name. His voice came out gravelly. "Yeah."
The silence lingered and was thick with tension. Every breath was a sign of restraint and desire. Your heart was still pounding so hard, slamming against your ribs like it was personally trying to break free.
"I'll see you after school..." You whispered, barely audible but Caleb heard you. He always heard you. "With Gideon."
Before Caleb could respond, before he could reach out to touch you, you left. Leaving him alone with his own heart jackhammering. The silence you left behind wasn't peaceful, it was violent and messy. Caleb stood in the middle of his office rigid like a soldier. His breath was coming too fast, like he'd just stopped running a marathon. He still couldn't move, every nerve in his body still felt your presence, your closeness, the heat of your breath, the scent of your perfume and that softness about you that dared him to cross a line he knew damn well would end him.
His fists unclenched slowly, trembling as they opened. He turned his back to the door while dragging both hands through his hair with a low and frustrated groan. 'I'll see you after school. With Gideon.' That line looped in his skull like a curse. Gideon, your brother. His best fucking friend. The guilt stabbed deeper than it had last night. When he almost broke, when he almost tasted the sweetness of your lips. He paced around his office now. The tension curling in his shoulders with every step. His desk looked alien now with scattered papers and half-graded assignments that suddenly seemed meaningless. All Caleb could see was you. Standing in front of him and looking at him like you knew. Like you wanted him to break and fuck he was close.
He thought he could handle it. Last night was bad, the car, the almost kiss and the way you leaned into his touch but this? Walking into his office in broad daylight and practically vibrating with an unspoken dare? That was something else entirely. He sat down at his desk, a bit too hard. The chair groaned under his weight. His elbows landed on his knees and his head fell into his hands. Despite everything, he could still hear your voice, the way you whispered. 'But you wanted to.' You weren't wrong, of course you weren't but that's what terrified him. He wasn't some predator, he wasn't some cliche. Caleb loved your family, loved Gideon like a brother. Loved you like- No! No, no, NO! He didn't love you... He couldn't!
He couldn't afford to even entertain the thought and yet... his heart has already chosen sides. He breathed deep and held it. Let it burn in his chest before releasing it.
“Pull it together, Caleb,” he muttered but his hands were still shaking. His right arm aching more than usual.
The knock that came next nearly went unregistered but it was just enough to make his head jerk up. His breath hitched like he'd been caught doing something wrong. “Yeah?”
The door eased open and in stepped Zayne with a clipboard in hand and his brow knit in distracted thought. “Hey. Sorry to barge in, man. I just need those permission slips for the senior trip next month. Jenna’s breathing down my neck.”
Caleb blinked before internally shaking his head. Willing his expression to be neutral and not portraying the mess of his thoughts. He sat forward, shuffling a stack of folders blindly. "Yeah. Yeah, they're here somewhere."
Zayne stepped in fully, letting the door fall shut behind him but he didn't move further or speak right away. He just watched. Watched his friend trying to act normal but so clearly failing. Caleb muttered something under his breath, fumbling through papers and then the silence thickened. Zayne's gaze dropped to Caleb's hands and noticed the slight tremble. The tightness in his jaw and the way his shoulders were hunched like he was bracing for impact.
“…You good?” Zayne asked softly.
Caleb stilled for a beat too long before forcing a nod. "Yeah. Just haven't eaten."
Zayne didn't buy it at all but he didn't press, not yet. Caleb finally found the permission slips and handed them to Zayne, the exchange was mechanical. Like Caleb wanted this interaction to be over and done with. Zayne breathed out slowly before tapping Caleb's desk with his free hand. His voice came light and steady.
"You know," He set the clipboard down on the desk now. "You've got that look."
Caleb glanced up with narrowed eyes. "What look?"
Zayne's lips twitched. "The Sylus look."
Caleb went rigid, his eyes widening slightly but only slightly. Enough for Zayne to notice. Zayne leaned casually against the desk, arms folded now. "You remember last year? The brooding, the staring off into nothing? He had that same tension in his jaw. Same storm behind the eyes."
"I'm fine." Caleb said too fast and clipped.
Zayne tilted his head. "Are you?"
Caleb met Zayne's gaze and held it. That made Zayne soften, just a little. Because now he knew and he didn't need to ask who, he didn't need to press. He could feel it in the air between them. Could see it in Caleb's body language. Zayne finally stepped back, grabbing his clipboard and the permission slips but his voice dropped just above a whisper on the way out. "Be careful, Caleb."
His hand was on the door-knob, ready to leave but Caleb's voice cracked through the stillness before Zayne could open it. “It’s not what you think.”
Zayne paused and Caleb stood, his spine was straight but shaking with the tension barely held in his frame. His palms flat on his desk. "I'm not like Sylus." He whispered.
Zayne turned halfway, his expression unreadable but Caleb pushed on, too fast. Like he had to say it all or he'd lose control of it completely.
“Sylus crossed the line. He broke. He, he lost it. For a girl. A student. He nearly ruined everything he’d worked for. Everything he was.” Caleb's breath hitched. "And you and I- we were the ones who helped clean up the fallout. You remember that, don't you?"
Zayne nodded, slowly and measured. "I remember."
Caleb kept going, his voice lower now and raw. "We watched him fall apart over her. Watched him take risks that could've gotten him fired or worse. And for what? A relationship he couldn't even admit to until she walked the stage and got her diploma." His fists curled tighter. "I'm not gonna be that guy."
Zayne studied him for a beat. Watched the way Caleb's breaths became ragged and the way his body still trembled. "But you already are."
That made Caleb flinch and Zayne's tone didn't sharpen, it softened and that made it worse. "If you're standing there, trying to prove to yourself you haven't crossed the line," He said quietly. "Then it means you're already on it."
The silence that followed filled the room like smoke. It was suffocating and thick. Sweat bloomed on the back of Caleb's neck, his heart beating faster with every passing second. The knot in his stomach twisting tighter and tighter. Zayne's grip loosened on the clipboard. "I won't tell anyone. But don't kid yourself Caleb. The road Sylus took? It's shorter than you think."
With that, Zayne left and Caleb was alone again. Staring at the spot his friend was just standing, then down at his hands and suddenly they felt like they belonged to someone else. Someone dangerous. No, he can't be that guy. Caleb finally moved from the spot he was glued to. He found his phone on his desk, fingers trembling slightly still. He scrolled through his messages until he found Gideon.
[New Message: Gid] Hey, got some unavoidable paperwork to do this afternoon. Meet you for dinner instead.
Caleb's thumbs hovered over the send button, this is what he needed to do. He can't risk being with you in front of Gideon right now. Hopefully, it being a school night, your parents won't let you come out with them. Caleb's chest ached as he hit send. He needs to protect you, not be the guy that ruins you. No matter how badly he wants to cross that line, to hold you in his arms and to breathe you in.
~
Caleb got to the diner earlier than he thought he would. Gideon wasn't there yet. Perfect. He found a booth towards the back, the old leather creaked under his weight as he slid across the seat. The smell of fries and cooking meat filled his senses but it did nothing to distract his wandering thoughts. He hadn't stopped thinking about you all day. Guilt burned deep in his chest as he thought about your reaction to being left out and the longer he thought about it the worse it got. He wanted you. Despite his earlier reservations, god he wanted you so badly. He wants you close to him at all times. Wants to know everything you're doing, every thought that flickers through that brilliant and bratty mind of yours.
The diner suddenly felt warmer, Caleb stared down at the table, his hands clenching into fists. He couldn't stop thinking of you... why couldn't he stop? You were like an addiction that he couldn't shake. The way you looked when you stood in his office, that effortless grace and beauty, your confidence and that goddamn smart mouth of yours. The things he wanted to do to you was unholy.
Caleb wanted to taste you. Not just your lips. He wanted to taste everything, the salt of your skin and that undeniable sweetness between your legs. His mouth salivated slightly as he slipped deeper into those thoughts. He imagined the heat and your scent. He imagined holding you down with his large hands as he would drag his tongue up your slit, parting your folds with his tongue. He’d take his time, fuck he’d savour every second and every reaction he’d bring out of you. He’d flick his tongue over your clit, teasing you as payback for being the cheeky little trouble maker that you are. Oh, he’d make you beg for more and for nothing at all.
His cock started to throb in his pants. He shouldn’t be doing this. Shouldn’t be thinking about you like this in public and getting hard from it. But he couldn’t help it. He could practically hear your moans in his ear. He wanted to give you every ounce of pleasure, make your body sing to the tune of him. To feel your warmth around his fingers and his cock. Caleb shifted on his seat trying to alleviate the pressure building behind his zipper.
“Hey, Caleb.” A voice startled Caleb, his head jolted up as his eyes, wild and burning found Gideon walking into the diner.
Then, his body went cold, all the blood draining from his face because Gideon wasn’t alone. You were there too.
The sight of you made Caleb’s breath catch in his throat. God.. you looked beautiful. You weren’t in your uniform anymore. You were in a denim blue dress with black straps that formed little bows on your shoulders. Like you were a present that he’d get to unwrap. Your lips were slightly glossed and downright kissable and your skin… fuck, his heart skipped a beat. Your skin had a soft glow, and your cheeks were flushed slightly. You made everyone else in this diner, even Gideon, disappear.
Caleb’s mouth parted slightly. As he watched you approach the booth. He wanted nothing more than to pull you into his arms and sit you on his lap. To snake his hands around your waist and hold you tightly against him. To feel your warmth pressed against his body. To never let you go.
You could feel Caleb’s eyes on you as you and Gideon approached the booth. It made your knees feel weak. When Gideon told you that Caleb wanted to do dinner instead you practically begged Gideon to let you come. You don’t know why he said yes but you’re glad he did.
Gideon ushered you into the booth. Sitting across from Caleb and then he slid in next to you.
“You alright Caleb? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Gideon relaxed against the booth. His fingers tapped rhythmically against the table, completely unaware of the tension brewing between you and Caleb.
Caleb’s gaze slowly drifted from you to Gideon. He forced a smile that did quite reach his eyes. “Yeah. Just been a long day.”
Your fingers clenched the material of your dress that splayed across your thighs. Gideon started talking about the Air Force and telling stories. But you weren’t truly listening, you were watching the way Caleb was listening. The way his eyes lit up slightly when Gideon mentioned something about a new jet.
That’s when you piped up from your quiet. “So,” your voice light as your eyes locked on Caleb. “Why didn’t you join the Air Force too?”
Caleb blinked, his eyes widening slightly, Gideon stilled too, his drink halfway to his mouth.
You tilted your head as you watched their reactions, they were strange. “I remember you were obsessed with planes. Like, nerd level obsessed. Used to rattle off model numbers like they were Pokémon stats.”
Caleb didn’t move but his eyes did, they landed on you and he watched you for a moment before letting out a breath, a small smile curving his lips. The kind of smile an adult gives a child when they don’t want them to worry about real world problems.
Beside you, Gideon set his drink down slowly and he shared a look with Caleb. As if they were silently communicating. Like they were having a conversation they’d had a hundred times before.
Caleb eventually cleared his throat. “Yeah,” he said, his voice almost too steady. “I guess I… grew out of it.”
You narrowed your eyes, confused mostly but one word echoed in your mind. Liar.
“Did you?” You ask softly.
Caleb’s fist clenched and then Gideon laughed softly, a false laugh to try and stop whatever awkwardness was brewing. He ruffled your hair playfully and you swatted at him. Groaning at the childish treatment.
“Yes really, Squirt. People don’t have the same interests they had when they were 15.” Gideon grinned as he pulled his hand away.
Just like that the moment past but you couldn’t help shake the feeling that they weren’t telling you something. So you watched. You saw the flicker in Caleb’s eyes, something pained. Like regret? Or maybe… something darker.
You watched the way his fingers curled around his glass, wiping the condensation away. The way he’d occasionally adjust his collar like it was choking him and the way he never quite leaned back. Like his own body was a trap he couldn’t relax in.
Gideon was rambling about a new recruit who puked during a drill when his phone started to buzz. He cursed under his breath as he looked at the caller ID. “Sorry, gotta take this.”
Then he walked off without waiting and just like that you and Caleb were alone at the booth. The silence between you roared louder than any scream could, you hated it. “You haven’t looked at me properly since I sat down.” You whispered.
Caleb tensed, his fists clenched and his jaw ticked. Then he did look at you and god did he look. His eyes dark purple, unblinking. Still he didn’t say anything, just watched you. Your heart started to race again as your mouth went dry. Why wasn’t he saying anything?
He just watched you until finally you shifted and cleared your throat. “I uh. Made you something.” You reached into your hand bag and pulled out a bottle with a hand made label on it.
It had drawn on pictures of a cartoon apple, stars and hearts and in your handwriting. ‘Apple Soda.’ You slid it slowly across the table, a flush blooming across your cheeks. “I’m hoping you didn’t grow out of your obsession with apples too.” You whispered softly.
Caleb watched every movement, his expression unreadable as his eyes drifted from you to the small bottle of handmade soda on the table between you. His eyes lingered on the cute drawings on the label. He watched as a gas bubble slowly rose through the liquid and melting at the surface.
Then he looked back at you, you still couldn’t tell what he was thinking. Was he happy? Angry? For the first in a while you felt nervous. Those purple eyes lingered on yours and then he spoke.
“I wish I could forget I ever knew you.”
Your heart stopped. Your stomach dropped. He didn’t say it in a harsh tone, more like he was defeated. But the fact he said it tore through you like a bullet. Your eyes started to sting but before you could say anything else he continued speaking.
“I want to erase every summer memory, every laugh. Every time I tucked you in with Gideon and told you monsters weren’t real.” He leaned closer. “But I can’t. Because when I look at you I see something I’ve never wanted more.”
You felt an electric jolt course through you. Your breath stuttered as Caleb reached out and took your hand in his. Holding it firmly. His thumb brushed over your wrist where your pulse beat visibly.
“I can’t stop thinking about you.” His voice was softer now and when you looked at him again his eyes were shining. You noticed the pink flecks amongst the purple. You also noticed that slight flush across his cheeks.
For the first time ever you didn’t know what to say. You didn’t want to crack a joke or tease. Then Caleb let out a small breath. His eyes lifted towards the diner’s exit. No sign of Gideon yet. Then he moved. He slid across the booth seat, the leather creaking. Your heart thudding harder with every inch closer he got. He didn’t stop until he was next to you. His thighs pressed against yours and before you could react his hand, sure and certain, came up and caressed your cheek gently.
Your breath hitched as his thumb brushed just under your eye, his gaze following the movement. “I want you.” He whispered.
Your eyes widened and cheeks burned. Caleb’s own blush bloomed brighter across his face. He made eye contact with you again. “I want you,” He repeated. “In every way a man wants a woman.” He leaned closer, resting his forehead against yours. Your breath mingling. “You’re so beautiful.” He breathed out.
“Caleb…” You leaned into his touch, your other hand pressing flat against his chest. You could feel the rapid beat of his heart. For a moment neither of you moved, just breathed each other in.
Then you felt it, his lips pressing gently against the corner of your mouth. A soft pop as he pulled back just barely. “I want to give you everything you could ever ask for.” He whispers before planting another tender kiss to the other corner of your mouth. Your breath falters, as if you're scared to breathe, worried you might ruin the moment but Caleb kept going. “I want you to always need me, to depend on me.” Another kiss, to the tip of your nose. Then he pulls back slightly, staring into your eyes.
Your cheeks were burning, your heart racing. Like a bird trying to fly against a hurricane. Then your lips parted, soft and inviting. A soft noise escaped Caleb as he leaned in, closing the distance once again. But this time. His lips pressed against yours fully.

A/N: A New Year. A New Game. A New Forbidden Flame. Last year, the prestigious Linkon High was on fire. Whispers had flooded the hallways, interrogations and accusations were spoken behind the library doors. Eventually it was discovered that there was a teacher-student scandal and it nearly shattered everything.
But it wasn’t them that were caught.
Professor Sylus and his now former student turned official girlfriend walked through hell and came out the other side together. They’re happy now, thriving and living proof that sometimes the most dangerous love is the kind that lasts.
But that was their story. Now, it’s yours.
Chapter 1: Don’t call me Pipsqueak
You’ve always felt like the background character in your own story. You’ve always just been ‘Gideon’s little sister’. But that’s because your arrival into this world happened so late in your parent’s lives. 7 years between you and Gideon. You’re always the little one. Always the baby… even to him. Things a different now though, you’re 18, technically legal, and in your senior year of high school. Which also means you get to be in his classes.
Professor Caleb. Your brother’s best friend, the man who used to call you “Pipsqueak” and mess up your hair. Although, you swear last time you saw him he looked at you differently. No, you can feel it, deep within. Or maybe, now you’re old enough to understand what it all means.
The way his stares would linger on you, the tension when you and your mum spoke with him during the Senior Orientation day earlier this year. You noticed the way his jaw clenched when he looked down at the too short dress you were wearing. He knows he shouldn’t want you, you can see it in his eyes. Those violet purple eyes that you dream about every night. You know you shouldn’t want him either but you do and now you’ve got one reckless goal for the year.
Make Caleb break.
The car door clicked shut behind you. Heat bloomed the moment your feet hit the pavement. Summer was lingering like a secret across the asphalt, baking the school sign in a soft shimmer. Linkon High loomed ahead of you, all brick and metal and freshly trimmed hedges and blossoming flowers. It was all like looking at background set for a play. A school pretending to be normal despite having one of the worst scandals in history last year. Like it’s halls were still pure and hadn’t tasted sin.
But you knew better because if Professor Solana, the quirky art teacher could break, then so could Caleb.
You paused at the threshold and adjusted the strap of your bag. Your fingers twitching against the scratchy material. This was the same entrance you always took, the same walk and the same gates but everything felt different now. You weren’t a little girl anymore and you wanted to prove that. Not just for your family’s eyes but for his too.
The breeze caught your hair as you finally stepped through the gates. The temperature felt like it spiked a couple of degrees and the wind carried the whispers of your fellow classmates around you. They all milled around the courtyard, catching up with their friends that they didn’t see during the holidays and trying to pretend that they weren’t nervous about this new year. You weren’t nervous though.
No, you were waiting because today would be the first time you’d be in his classroom. That thought sent a shamefully addictive thrill down your spine. The scent of the blooming Gardenia envelops you, sweet and too seductive to be inside a school. Your heart pounds as you continue to walk through the school grounds. Making your way to the oval but you slow your steps. Your fingers curl around the strap of your bag as you think of Caleb. How would he react when he sees you this morning? Would he look at you like you’re still Gideon’s little sister? Or would he look at you the same way he did during that orientation day? The way hunger flickered through his eyes when stared at your bare thighs. You bite your lip and swallow down a whimper and you tell yourself. He will break and he will love it.
~
The hum of the aircon wasn’t enough to dull the awkward silence that lingered in the Linkon High staff room. First period hadn’t even started yet but the tension between the three men inside was starting to steep into every stale corner. Caleb sat with one ankle slung over his knee. He was absentmindedly spinning a pen between his long fingers. His hair was still slightly damp from his last minute shower this morning and his polo clung slightly to the curve of his biceps. Zayne was sitting by the counter, sipping on coffee like it owed him money, and flipping through the health departments agenda for the day. Then there was Sylus, casually leaned against the fridge, a smug look on his face as he stared down into his coffee cup.
Not being able to endure the silence anymore Caleb flicked his pen towards Sylus. “You’re awfully zen again. I still don’t like it.”
Sylus smirked over the rim of his mug. “What can I say? I had a good night again last night.”
Zayne finally looked up and chimed in, deadpan. “Nobody wants to hear about your sex life anymore, Sylus.”
All three men laughed, softly. The tension slowly slipping away between them. Last year really tested their brotherhood but honestly, that came as a surprise to Caleb himself. He knew they were close after years of working together but he never thought he’d help Sylus like he did. Covering up the secret scandal, risking his own career. Caleb felt a twinge in his arm and rubbed his wrist, one thought came to his head. Would they do the same for him?
Zayne’s voice broke through the silence. “So you’re staying then?”
Sylus paused and contemplated the question. “Actually, no. I’m transferring to The Zone in term two.”
Caleb’s spine stiffened, his brow furrowed. “Seriously?”
Zayne blinked as he looked between Sylus and Caleb, taking a slow sip of his coffee, like he expected this outcome.
“Why?” Caleb asked. “Jenna’s off your back now. You could coast, you won.”
Sylus nodded slowly as his eyes drifted towards the window. “Yeah, I could.” Then he looked back at his friends, his voice lowering. “But just because you win one round doesn’t mean you stay in the ring. She’s mine now, I’ve got nothing to prove and I’m not giving anyone an excuse to question it again.”
Sylus’ words hung in the air between them. Then Zayne gave a short hum. “That’s disgustingly healthy of you…” He leaned back in his chair. “I’m offended.”
Sylus’ and Zayne’s banter drifted off into background noise for Caleb. He didn’t laugh or join in like he usually would because something Sylus said twisted deep in his gut.
‘She’s mine now.’
Caleb instantly thought about you. He hadn’t seen you in a few weeks, not since that Senior Orientation day where you rocked up in a dress too short for his liking. Well, he liked it, but he didn’t like everyone else got to see you in it. He told himself then it was just that big brother attitude he adopted from all those years he helped Gideon baby sit you. But that was a lie because that phrase was echoing in his skull. ‘She’s mine now.’ It was creeping up his spine like a sickness, an unspoken pull that he always refused to acknowledge. He had been waiting for you. All this time.
All those memories of you curled on the couch squealing with laugher came flooding into his mind. The way you’d look at him like he hung the stars for you. Now, you’re a senior of this school, you’re eighteen, you’re ‘legal’. The second those thoughts flashed in his mind he hated himself for it. Because what does that make him? Caleb’s jaw tensed, he took a long sip of his coffee, praying the flood of caffeine could bury those unholy thoughts but it didn’t. It stayed gnawing at the pits of his stomach.
‘She’s mine now.’ The echo of Sylus’ words kept circling in his head like a wasp that wouldn’t die. Caleb shifted slightly in his seat and took another sip of bitter coffee that rightfully tasted like shame now. His fingers gripped the handle of the mug so tight, his knuckles turned white, like he could wring the thought from his head like this.
Then Caleb felt it. A pair of crimson eyes on him, a weight of being seen through like glass. Caleb raised his head and made eye contact with Sylus. Neither of the men said anything but Caleb could swear Sylus was reading his mind like he was an open book on nightmares and trauma. Caleb swallowed hard and blinked once before looking away, pretending to go through his phone. Scrolling through emails he wasn’t actually reading. He could feel his pulse hammering in his neck and his throat stayed dry. Sylus stared for a moment longer before turning his attention back out the window.
No more words were spoken but Caleb could feel it. That nonverbal confession that a man like Sylus was able to pull out of him. Zayne hadn’t noticed, or he pretended not to but Caleb could feel the truth settling over his shoulders like a second skin. Maybe they will catch on. Would they hate him for it? This wasn’t some teenager that he’s randomly gotten feelings for, no. You were a girl who’s known Caleb her entire life, he’s watched you grow. Whatever these feelings were… It was way worse than what Sylus did… perhaps even what Solana did too.
Caleb couldn’t take it anymore. He excused himself with some poor excuse about getting the oval set up for his first class but really he just wanted to get out of that stuffy staff room and away from their watchful eyes.
Caleb rubbed at his aching wrist again as he stepped out of the staff room, the cool summer breeze doing nothing to calm down the raging thoughts in his head. He took a deep breath and tried to focus. His first period was year 12 P.E. theory and light practical combo. Stretches, orientation and easing into the term and what’s expected of the seniors.
He barely made it halfway before a familiar voice hit him from the left.
“Hey Caleb.”
He froze mid-step, nothing too dramatic but just enough to show that his brain nearly collapsed. The voice was soft, warm and teasing. His eyes slid sideways and there you were. Wearing a Linkon High uniform that fit you a little too good. Your bag slung over one shoulder, your hair gently swaying in the wind, wisps curling around your cheekbones. Then that same smirk on your face that you used to give him when you were six and tried to race him on your bike.
Caleb’s lips twitched. “You shouldn’t call me that here. It’s ‘Professor’ to you now.”
You rolled your eyes as you fell into step beside him. “Oh please. I used to chew on your hoodie strings, I think I’ve earned the first-name priveleges.”
He choked on a laugh and rubbed the back of his neck. Fuck, you still had it. That effortless sass, and that whip-smart tongue wrapped in sugar.
“And I used to tie you to a dining chair with jump rope so you wouldn’t run off during dinner. What’s your point?”
“My point,” You grinned, bumping your shoulder against his arm, “Is that you’re not that scary, Caleb.”
He side-eyed you, the bright purple darkening ever so slightly. “You’re pushing it, Pipsqueak.”
There it was, that nickname. That familiar sting and comfort in one word. Your heart gave a little squeeze and you laughed but it was tight around the edges. “Still calling me that huh?” You said lightly. “What happened to the whole ‘look at you, all grown up’ speech i was expecting?”
His smirk faded just a breath too long. He wanted to tell you that he noticed, that ever since that orientation day he went to bed with the image of your thighs burned into his mind but his mouth stayed shut. Your gaze lingered on his face for a moment before he cleared his throat and looked forward, breaking the eye contact.
“I noticed.”
The silence stretched between you again and your smile faltered slightly. You’ve had a crush on Caleb for as long as you can remember. Even before you knew what crushes were. Even back when he was the golden boy crashing on your family’s couch and teaching you how to ride a skateboard and play basketball. Now when he calls you ‘Pipsqueak’ it stings a little and leaves an ache in your chest. Because ‘Pipsqueak’ is Gideon’s little sister, is the baby, is the girl he’ll never look at the way you look at him.
You reached the edge of the school oval. You watch Caleb rub his wrist again and notice the tiny scarring, that makes your chest hurt too as your mind starts to drift with thoughts about that day…
But then Caleb’s voice cuts through your reverie. “You’re in my class?”
You shook the thoughts from your head and grinned at him. “Wow. Forget me already, ‘Professor?’”
Caleb stared at your name on the class roll. It was highlighted, circled and starred. He hadn’t even realised he’d done that. His mouth went dry again.
“Right.” He cleared his throat.”New year, new class lists. Still getting used to it.”
You gave him that knowing look. A wicked little smirk with just enough innocence to make him feel like the villain in his own story.
“Should I be worried? That my PE teacher is already forgetting me?”
He forced a chuckle, waving toward the stretch lines painted into the grass where the other students had started to congregate.
“Worried? No. Annoying? Definitely. Go warm up, Pipsqueak.”
You give a mock gasp. “Still with the Pipsqueak?”
His voice drops lower. “It still fits.”
Your eyes flashed something unreadable, something dangerous but you turned and jogged off to join the other students. Hair swaying and your skirt flaring just enough. Caleb stood there for a moment, his heartbeat thudding behind his ribs like a warning drum because you weren’t just in his world now. You were in his classroom, his jurisdiction and there were rules. So many fucking rules. That he was already aching to break.
The whistle sliced through the morning air like a blade. A flock of magpies scattered across the edge of the oval as Caleb paced in front of the gathered class. Clipboard in one hand, stopwatch in the other.
“Alright, let’s start simple.” He called out, his voice was deceptively steady. “First week means foundations. Partner up and start with dynamic stretches. Lunges, hamstring rolls and side bends. We’ll move into short sprints in twenty.”
Students peeled off in twos, laughter and chatter rising like heat from the grass. He should be watching all the students but he couldn’t. His eyes always landed on you. You could feel the way he watched as you were tying up your hair. His eyes lingering on the way your arms stretched overhead. The way certain body parts of yours moved when you bounced on your heels. A smirk formed on your face as you started to do a lunge stretch.
Caleb was moving between pairs of students, correcting form as he went along until he reached you. His eyes glued to the way your leg extended beautifully, too beautifully. Your shirt clung to your sides just slightly with sweat and your mouth was parted.
“Switch legs,” Caleb said, his tone clipped as he stopped next to you.
You glanced up at him with a sparkle in your eyes. “Am I doing it wrong, Caleb?”
You notice the slight flush crawling up his neck. “You know not to call me that.”
You rolled your eyes. “Fine, ‘Professor’.” You started shifting into the next stretch but your balance tipped, maybe on purpose, and you stumbled forward.
Caleb’s reflexes kicked in instantly and strong hands caught you at the waist. Your heart pounded in your chest and your breath caught in your throat. Your hand caught his arm, fingers curling against his skin. His palms felt warm and big against your waist. The scent of his cologne filled your nose. Caleb’s eyes met yours. You can feel his thumb brush against your rib and it sent tingles throughout your entire body.
“Careful,” He said in a low husky voice. “Wouldn’t want you getting hurt on your first day.”
You licked your lips before smiling. A wicked gleam in your eyes. “That’d be tragic, wouldn’t it? You’d have to carry me to the nurse’s office. Maybe give me mouth to mouth.”
“Stretch.” He practically growled and stepped back so fast it looked like he’d been burned.
You giggled as you watch Caleb turn around, forcing his attention back to the class but you noticed the clench in his jaw and the way he flexed his hands.
The rest of the class was a blur and before you knew it Caleb dismissed everybody early. Students cheered and started scattering across the oval. Making their way to their next class but not you. You watched as Caleb started dragging cones and hurdles toward the shed. His clipboard was tucked under his arm and his expression was blank. So, you sneak up behind him.
“You need a hand?”
He turned around slowly with an expression you couldn’t read.
“I’m good,” he said automatically, tossing a ball into the equipment crate but you were already walking toward him with your lips curled into that infuriating smile.
“C’mon, you used to beg me to help clean up when I was ten. You said I was the perfect minion.”
He snorted slightly as he crouched down to grab more equipment off the floor. “Yeah, and you used to demand three gummy worms as payment.”
“Inflation, babe,” You shot back. “I expect at least a smoothie now.”
Caleb paused and looked at you. That grin, the way you said babe, he let it all slide. Just barely.
“Fine,” He muttered, motioning toward the scattered cones. “Start with those.”
You worked in an easy and familiar rhythm but now, every time you bent over his gaze flicked. Every time you made a soft noise, his chest tightened.
Then, as you threw the last cone into the crate, you spoke. “Gideon texted me last night.”
Caleb’s jaw ticked.
“He still thinks it’s hilarious that I’m in your class.” Your fingers run a long the top of the crate. “Said I should call you ‘Cabbie’ in front of everyone.”
Caleb groaned. “God, I hate that name.”
You grinned. “You used to chase him around the backyard when we were little. Screaming that you’d never forgive him.”
“I still haven’t.”
You chuckled softly, a real laugh and for a moment it felt like old times. Backyard barbecues, playing with sprinklers, you clinging to Caleb’s arm during thunderstorms. Your finger tapped the metal as your smile faltered slightly.
“You miss it?” You asked quietly. “Being around us more?”
Caleb met your eyes. He knows what you’re actually asking. ‘Do you miss me?’ God, he does. He dipped his head and looked at his feet.
“I miss before things got complicated,” he said.
You tilted your head and for the first time since he called you Pipsqueak again you have hope shining in your eyes. “You think this is complicated?”
He opened his mouth to say something and then closed it straight away. A smile spread across your face. “Good. I was worried it was just me.”
Caleb’s fist clenched at his side, his jaw was tight and his knuckles were white. He still didn’t look at you.
“You can head off,” he muttered.
You didn’t move, you just watched him. Waiting for him to stop deflecting.
“Bell’s in five,” he added, trying again. “You’ll be late.”
“I’ve got time,” you said simply.
His eyes flicked up. You were leaning against the doorframe of the shed now, arms crossed, a little smirk tugging at your lips.
“I’m not a kid anymore,” You added. Your voice soft and level.
“Didn’t say you were,” he replied, too fast.
“No, but you keep treating me like one.”
That landed heavy between you. Caleb straightened his posture and brushed imaginary dust off his shirt to try and distract himself. Finally he spoke.
“You’re my best friend’s little sister. That doesn’t just… go away.”
You stepped forward slowly. Closing some of the space between you. Not all the way, just enough to make the air feel different between you.
“Maybe it doesn’t go away,” you said, your voice gentle now. “But you don’t have to keep acting like I’m made of glass. I’ve grown up, Caleb. Whether you want to see it or not.”
His chest rose and fell slowly. You took another step, and then another. Until you were right in front of him. Your eyes were bright and your cheeks were flushed. Not from the exercise you did earlier but from the proximity.
“We’re playing with fire,” Caleb warned, his voice low.
You smiled softly, “I know but aren’t you tired of pretending we’re not already burning?”
Caleb’s jaw flexed, his breath came in slow calculated pulls. The heat between you was maddening. The scent of your perfume and your sweat filled his nose. It sent tingles all the way down his spine, and heat pooled in his lower abdomen.
You looked up at him with hooded eyes. Your voice dropped again, barely above a whisper. “I’m not trying to ruin you.”
His purple eyes met yours. He looked tormented and almost like he was pleading you to stop.
“But I could.” You added softly.
“You already are,” he murmured.
A draft of wind curled through the shed, tugging strands of hair across your cheek. You didn’t blink as you continued to stare up at Caleb. Like you were seeing every version of him at once. The boy who used to sneak you cookies after dinner. The teenager who gave you piggyback rides during storm blackouts and the man who now looked at you like he couldn’t breathe without tasting you first.
You bravely, or stupidly, lifted your hand up and brushed the sleeve of his shirt. Barely a touch, just a whisper of contact but it set his skin on fire.
“Do you want me to stop?” You asked.
Caleb inhaled as he closed his eyes. Just for a second, like maybe that second in the darkness would help him lie. He opened them slowly and looked down at you and it was raw.
“I can’t want you.”
“But you do.”
Caleb didn’t answer, didn’t speak because if he did, it wouldn’t be words that came out of his mouth. It would be need. Pure unadultered, shameful need.
You stayed like that. A breath apart. Your head tilted just slightly and his fists clenched at his sides tighter than before. Like touching you might be the thing that unmakes him. A single step is all it would take. To close the distance. To feel his lips on yours. To cross that line that’s been drawn since the day you were born. Then, the bell rang. Loud and piercing. Jarring you both back to reality.
You stepped back, maintaining eye contact, your lips curving into the smallest smile. “Guess we’ll both be late now, huh?”
Then you turned and walked away. Leaving Caleb frozen and burning.
Your footsteps echoed down the empty hallway. You were walking slower than you should’ve been. The school bell had rung a second time, its final warning for the next period but you were still walking like your brain hadn’t caught up to your legs. Like you were moving through smoke.
Your hand was still tingling from where you brushed his sleeve.
His voice, god that voice, echoed in your mind. ‘You already are.’ You pressed your lips together trying not to smile. Trying not to melt from that confirmation of his feelings.
The door to your next class was still open, students already seated with their books out and the teacher was mid-roll call. You slipped in quietly with your head ducked low and you found your desk. You tried to relax into your chair but your body didn’t know how to sit still. Your legs were crossed too tightly, your breath came in short waves and your thighs were warm. Too warm.
You kept shifting and wiggling in your seat. Trying to focus on the board in front of you. It was math or science. Honestly, you didn’t know or care. All you could think about was how close he was. How he didn’t stop you. How his eyes looked like you were something he ached for, something he’d already tasted in his dreams. Your fingers toyed with the hem of your skirt under your desk. An idle and reckless movement. You thought about the way his voice dropped, the way his throat moved when he swallowed back his need. The way his hands flexed like they were dying to touch you and knew that he couldn’t.
Your thighs pressed tighter together as the last bit of your conversation with him looped over and over in your mind.
‘Do you want me to stop?’
‘I can’t want you.’
‘But you do.’
God, his silence spoke louder than any other answer he could’ve given. You didn’t know how you were supposed to survive the rest of the day, not like this. Not with your heart hammering and your stomach fluttering like it was fighting gravity. One was thing was clear though. Whatever you two were dancing around, it wasn’t going away.
~
Caleb spotted you before he even pressed the unlock button on his car keys. You were leaning against the passenger side of his car like you belonged there. Sunlight caught you in that golden-hour glow, making you look more like a dream than a student. He slowed his steps, trying not to clench his jaw or curse out loud. You had your bag at your feet, your blazer folded over your arms, and your skirt looked higher up your thighs. Too fucking dangerous and too confident.
“You stalking me now?” He asked, stopping a few feet from the car. Careful to maintain distance.
You shrugged as that lazy smile curled across your lips. “Depends. You offering me a ride or not?”
He blinked at your question and laughed dryly. “You’re seriously asking your teacher for a lift home?”
“You’re seriously pretending like you’re not going my way anyways?”
His keys dangled uselessly in his hand, the weight of your gaze was palpable, thick enough to breathe in. “You know we can’t be seen like this.” He said quietly.
Your smile sharpened as you pushed off the car slowly and deliberate. Walking toward him until you reached the end of the hood. The gap between you closing fast. “I thought we weren’t supposed to be doing a lot of things…” You whisper.
Caleb swallowed hard. Every instinct screamed at him to get in the car and drive away. Instead, he kept his gaze on you. His fingers flexed as he pressed the button on his keys. The sound of the car unlocking was louder than a gunshot.
“Get in.”
You didn’t hesitate, just smirked up at him as you opened the door and slid into the front passenger seat.
The car was too quiet. There was no music, just the soft hum of the engine and the sound of Caleb’s fingers clenching the steering wheel every few seconds. You sat beside him, legs crossed, blazer in your lap and your fingers tapping against your thighs. Still, no words were spoken between you. He kept his eyes on the road, the streets, on anything but you.
You finally broke the silence. “So, how was your day Professor?” Your voice lilted just enough to make it feel like a joke.
He huffed and still didn’t look at you. “Normal. Loud. Too hot.”
You leaned your head back against the seat, eyes turned toward him even though he’s not returning the gaze. “Hot huh? Guess the heat really got to you today…”
His jaw clenched and you grinned, just a little bit. You watched the way his neck tensed as you spoke. You could see every little micro action. “Didn’t seem like you minded earlier,” You added. “When we were standing that close.”
“That was a mistake.”
You clicked your tongue. “Liar.”
“Don’t.” His voice was rough and low. He still wasn’t looking at you.
You shifted in your seat, angling toward him. “Why won’t you look at me?”
“Because you’re not making this easier.”
“I’m not trying to make it easy,” you said, and there was no more teasing in your tone now. Just raw and wicked truth. His fingers flexed on the wheel and you leaned a little closer. Your voice quieter. “Do you regret it?”
He paused at a red light and finally looked at you. His eyes, fuck, they burned.
“No.” It came out like a confession. Like a sin wrapped in silk. “I regret that I want more.”
The light turned green and he looked away. You stared at him for a long moment with your heart jackhammering behind your ribs.
“So do I.”
Another silence bloomed between you. It was loaded with everything you both wanted to say to each other but weren’t. He finally pulled up to your house but neither of you moved. The engine ticked softly as it cooled. Outside the windshield, the sun was casting long shadows across the familiar porch. The garden hadn’t changed, neither had the paint chipping near the front step and inside, through the kitchen window, Caleb could see movement. Your parents.
Your dad leaned against the counter, sipping from a chipped blue mug. Your mum laughed at something while tossing a towel over her shoulder. It was domestic and simple. It was home and once upon a time, it had been his too, Caleb continued to stare, his grip loosening on the steering wheel. He didn’t speak yet. His gaze drifted to the upstairs window. To your bedroom. How many nights had he stayed over here? Fallen asleep on the couch with Gideon after Halo tournaments? Woken up to pancakes? Held the exact same mug your dad now drank from?
This house had always been safe but now… He sat outside with you, in his car, after you looked him in the eye and said you didn’t want to stop. Caleb finally turned to you. You were already looking at him, like he was something fragile. Something just about to break open. His voice came low, rough and a little wrecked.
“You’re still Gideon’s little sister.”
Your stomach tensed. Like your heart was a rock that was dropped through water and sinking down. Your lips parted as your breath caught. You expected something else. Maybe a joke, maybe a ‘get inside’ but not that. You blinked a few times before leaning in slightly.
“Why are you still pretending that, that’s the only part of me that matters?”
This time it was Caleb’s breath that caught. His throat closed up. You didn’t look away or back down.
“Do you even see me, Caleb? Or are you just trying not to?”
That landed like a punch to the ribs because he’d been trying not to. Not since he saw you at orientation and not since you said his name in that teasing voice that wasn’t a child’s anymore. He dragged a hand over his mouth and looked away again, out the window and back at the house.
“I see you,” He whispered. “Too well.”
The words hung heavy between you. It was unfiltered and honest. You didn’t smile or gloat. You just moved slowly and softly. Your hand reached across the centre console, fingers brushed against his. Tentative at first, like you were giving him a chance to pull away and when he didn’t, you laced your fingers through his. That fractured something within him, painfully and silently. Because your hand felt so tiny and warm in his. The tenderness in your grip was sure and certain. Like you knew this was the moment that everything shifted. He stared down at your joined hands. The calluses on his thumb, the soft pink polish on your nails.
This didn’t make sense and yet it made all the sense in the world. His voice broke the silence, barely audible. “Shouldn’t be doing this.”
You didn’t flinch, “But you are.”
His eyes closed and a sigh of defeat fell out of him. Not because you were wrong but because you were right and it felt too good to stop.
“You were always stubborn.” He murmured.
You squeezed his hand gently. “And you always liked that about me.”
That drew the faintest laugh from him, barely a breath but it was real. He turned toward you now and finally met your gaze. The silence thickened as his thumb brushed over your knuckles. Your pulse spiked as your lips parted. His eyes glanced down to your mouth and lingered before returning to your eyes. Your breath caught in your throat as his hand lifted and his palm cradled your cheek. Warmth bloomed under his fingers and you leaned into it, instinctively.
“Caleb.” You whispered his name softly.
It hit him like a plea. He dipped his head, so close your foreheads brushed. So close you could feel the flutter of his lashes and smell his cologne again. You could hear the tiny hitch in his throat when he didn’t pull back.
He didn’t kiss you, not yet, so you moved. Just a fraction, just enough for your lips to graze and that ruined him. Heat surged up his spine and a groan curled low in his throat, caught somewhere between lust and self-control. His hand on your cheek tensed just enough for you to feel the strain of his touch.
Your eyes fluttered shut as you waited for the kiss. He tilted his mouth closer. Your breaths mingling. You were right there.
Then he changed course.
He pressed a lingering, hard and devastating kiss to your forehead instead. It wasn’t a kiss to stop you or what was happening. It was a kiss that said ‘I want you more than I should ever admit.’
Your breath shuddered out and you didn’t open your eyes the entire time his lips were pressed to your forehead. He lingered for several long burning seconds.
When he finally pulled away, his voice was hoarse.
“We can’t.”
But it was a lie and you knew it. Because if he truly meant it, he wouldn’t still be holding your hand like it was the only thing tethering him to the earth.

Chapter 1
Lexi took a breath and stepped out of the taxi standing in front of her new college. She dusted off her black jeans and fluffed her long light brown hair before shutting the door and proceeding to the admissions office. She looked around watching others close in her age walking back and fourth with friends. She had read the online forums before she got there, she knew she was going to apply to be a teachers assistant. As she stepped into the office and checked in making sure they have her on record that told her about a professor she could talk to who might still be looking for an assistant, and where to find him. She took a map of the school off the desk and headed out to the coffee shop the receptionist told her was where he was at this time of day.
She walked two buildings down as she came to a quaint little coffee shop, where she saw a man and a woman having coffee outside at one of the tables. Her two toned eyes flickered with excitement being the first professor she was to meet this college. She was too excited she stepped wrong and lunged forward falling down the steps. After hearing her scream the man called out but it was too late she had already hit the ground. The man left the table to check on her as the other woman didn't seemed to care much and excused herself. She definitely looked like another student but right now Lexi was on the ground with a sprained ankle not sure if it was broken, and in a good amount of pain. As the professor helped her to her feet and walked her over to the chair, his husky voice broke the silence. "Are you okay? Just let me know if this hurts I'm going to make sure its not broken." He crouched to the ground as she watched him push her jeans off her ankle and removed her shoe. He moved it around a bit, it hurt but it wasn't broken. He looked up at her and smiled "It's not broken. I'm Professor Danzig." She smiled as he helped her up she gave him her name.... "Nice to meet you. I'm Lexi...Lexi Reid."
He went in and ordered them some coffee while she worked her ankle in motions hoping to get it better so she could walk. As he stepped back out with a coffee she brought up the teachers aid position, and he just smiled. He was willing to take her own, he taught a health course and he helped out with an elective in kickboxing, she wasn't sure if she could pull it off but willing to try. He gave her his number and they finished their coffee before he wanted to take her inside and introduce her to a few people in the gym. There was a open house and he wanted to show her around. She spent the next hour of him taking her from one set of people to the next and he had no problem showing there was more interest in her than just a teachers assistant. She didn't back down though because she had a weakness for teachers especially professors anyways. Professor Danzig was a pretty built man, its not like she hadn't noticed his physique. In the middle of one of the introductions she saw a young man walk past them yelling back at some friends that he was going for a smoke. Lexi found this man absolutely gorgeous at first sight, from his jet black hair that laid messy on his head to the very black goth styled clothes he was wearing. It was love at first sight, and she wanted to go meet him but she was with the professor and he was still introducing her. After a bit of time they started to leave the place as they stepped outside she looked around and say that attractive guy anywhere.
The professor told her that she could head to her dorm however she didn't live on campus. So when he was done introducing her she caught a bus out of town and headed back to the house she wanted out of. Lexi's life was troubled she grew up without a father, a twin brother who was sent to boarding school when he was 15 overseas and had yet to return. She dealt with an alcoholic mother who would drink and pass out often when she wasn't having outburst's and throwing things, and her moms boyfriend was the biggest piece of shit of them all. He would beat the hell out of Lexi from time to time so she stayed clear of him at all cost. She had not only been his punching bag from the time she was 15 years old right after her brother was sent off. He had molested her and got her knocked up at 16.
He found out she was pregnant and he beat her until she ended up in the hospital and had lost the baby. She grew up keeping her head down, trying not to talk back but she wanted so much more. She was a dance major and got a invite to Julliard but her mom forbid her to go. So when the letter came in that she was approved her mother behind her back sent the m letter declining them of it. Instead they moved to a location where her moms boyfriend could sell drugs. It was a very active city in Louisiana known for its murder and rape rates that sky rocket every year. He had blew through all the money they once had since they were middle class and this school she was going to have to pay for herself its why she needed the teachers assistant job, it was the only way she could stay out of that house as much as possible. Especially since now at 24 years old her moms boyfriend had gotten handsy again when he wouldn't just hall off and smack her. She got back home went straight to her room to do this all over again the next day.
Most get up to breakfast in their homes but not Lexi, she would wake up to her mom passed out on the couch already from being too drunk. The trailer they lived in was run down had alot of issues she really missed their house they had back in North Carolina. Her moms boyfriend came out of the bedroom as she was grabbing something from the fridge to eat walked up behind her and grabbed her ass. Without think she turned around slapping him in the face, soon as she knew it she knew it would end badly. He backhanded her knocking her to the floor with a busted lip, he screamed out. "YOU FUCKIN' WHORE! DON'T YOU EVER SLAP ME OR NEXT TIME I'LL KILL YOU!' She ran out the door and headed towards the bus, she still hadn't ate but it didn't matter she just wanted out so bad. Her getting a college degree would mean she could get out of there plus a side job as well. She got on the bus wiped her lip even though was slightly busted as she leaned back in her seat and waited til the 2 hour trip to school ended.
Today was her first class she would have as a teachers assistant for Professor Danzig she wore a sporty shorts set cause he had told they would be showing shape bodies in class and she would be one of the show and tell subjects. She walked in to the school building and the professor met her in the hallway since she was a hour early he grabbed her hand and walked her upstairs with him. No sooner they were in the room he pushed her up against the wall and whispered in her ear. "Fuck, I have wanted you all to myself the moment I met you..." She didn't fight back because she was so turned on that her teacher wanted her. She had a thing for professors, their smarts, the way they dress, and just the atmosphere they give off around them pulls her in. He pushed her hands above her head holding them in place while his fingers caressed down her curves. She let a soft moan leave her lips and he crashed his into hers if almost to enjoy her moan through so an entangled kiss. He took his other hand reached down while still kissing her and started undoing his belt and pants trying to free what was pressing so hard against his pants wanting to get out and revel in the beauty of his student.
Soon as his cock sprung form his pants it didn't take him long to slide her shorts and panties off and then rubbing his slick cock up against her swollen folds. Her breath caught in the back of her throat as he looked into her eyes with lust she knew he was getting ready to fuck her so good. He walked her over to the podium in the classroom pushed her face down on the podium with her round ass up in the air as he gripped each side of her hips. He took the head of his cock to her entrance and he was going to tease her but he couldn't handle it he needed to be in her. With one rough motion he took her right there submerging his cock as deep as he could get it into her wet juicy pussy. She moaned as he reached around covering her mouth as he thrust a few times before she felt him explode inside her leaving her walls covered in his thick cream. However she was turned on but he sadly did not satisfy her he didn't last long enough to. He pulled out and let out a sigh of relief as he sat down in a chair close by. She was caught off-guard this is a man who does sports and he has no stamina to go past 5 minutes if that. She grabbed her panties and shorts and quickly headed to the bathroom to clean up all his nut that was dripping from her now.
As she was cleaning up she noticed her lip was still busted so she took out some lipstick and made sure it covered over the split in her lip that her moms boyfriend had left. Then she headed towards class, as she stepped inside there was a good amount of people there she walked to the front of the class along with another woman that was standing up there with a completely different shape body. She was more top heavy as well huge butt, semi flat stomach and thicker thighs. Where as Lexi was the perfect hourglass shape with almost the perfect size ass and tits. She was hoping if anyone got near her that she had gotten his scent off her before class. As the professor walked into class he gave her a wink making her cheeks flush. As he started class her attention when to the guy in the back of the room playing with his pencil. It was the hot boy from the gym, that's when the teacher called out his name and she smiled and recited in her head "Chase...Chase...Chase" As the boy spoke up to the teacher it snapped her out of it. The way the the professor talked to him didn't seem like many had high hopes in this guy finishing college.
The class was about the shapes of the body and he asked for two volunteers calling Chase and a pretty blonde girl named Alora to the front of the room. Then the professor said he wanted them to get Lexi and the other girls measurements which means hands on them. Somehow she had found herself getting excited that Chase's hands might be all over her soon until the professor decided Alora should be on hers and not Chase. She somewhat pouted through the rest of the class but any chance she got she tried to be flirty with Chase but he didn't reciprocate, it was almost like he didn't know how to handle flirting. When class was over that was it, time to go back to the bus stop and continue her life's nightmare yet again. As the class emptied the professor grabbed her hand. "I want to check out another colleagues class but I want to introduce you after to him. Do you mind staying a little longer?" She nodded and agreed because the other alternative was to go home to a war zone, of course she would stay longer. She followed him to sociology class, he opened the door and both him and her walked in and to the back of the class to observe. What they walked into was not to be expected. Professor Jordan Russo one of the respected around since he was also a lawyer in town for side cases. He was attractive, Italian and... then she noticed he had a wedding band on. When she finally pulled herself from this sexy daydream she noticed they were in the middle of a heated debate and there was also a blonde woman sitting behind his desk to leaving Lexi confused.
When she noticed the head cheerleader Lacey was running her mouth, calling Professor Russo a cheater cause he had a wife, said woman behind desk they gestured. Also she pointed out Lilith the goth girl at the front of class. This became juicy so fast and Lexi was all intrigued. She couldn't understand why Professor Russo wanted Lilith over his wife there was no comparison in beauty, but then his wife spoke up about them having a poly relationship and she didn't care who he saw. This very moment Lexi was caught up with things that were going to change her whole life, but all she knew in that moment that Professor Jordan Russo was her new obsession. After the class was done she headed back to the bus stop and when she got home she stood outside where she could hear screaming coming from inside the house. She could make out everything it was about her mom doing all his coke he was trying to sell only a fight of a drug dealer would end like this. She sat outside on the ground leaning against the trailer as she waited for things to quieten down inside. At some point she fell asleep.
Next morning she woke to her moms boyfriend kicking against her shoes with a decent amount of strength. She startles awake his words went in one ear and out the other after the way he woke her up. She knew it was about school so she got up and went to walk towards inside when she felt him grab hold her wrist severely tight not wanting to let go. She yanked and yanked still no release. He leaned into her whispering very clearly. "Next time I won't wake you...I will just have my way with you." In that moment she wanted to hit him so bad. The cringe she gave off, as he released her hand and she rushed inside to get ready for school. She was in Professor Russo's class and she waited after once every one left to make flirts at him, he was receptive so she felt she was making progress. He ended up inviting her back to his place his wife was out for the evening, and the university student Wyatt was out as well as Jordan's nephew Chase. This was the perfect opportunity she thought and followed him back to his house. As they walk inside she is looking around at house nice his house was, there was no lack of money not put into this place. As they reached the living room he had went straight to his bar and poured both of them a drink of whiskey. As he walked over and put the drink on the table to drink whenever she wanted to. As she leaned forward he was noticing her breast and how perfect they really were.
He was a lawyer, professor and ex mafia, he just wanted to have a simple life getting out of the mafia. Of course Lexi knew nothing about such things because she had came from a middle class lifestyle and plunged into the darkness of this town and the shadows that hide so many secrets including those of Professor Russo. He gladly came over and sat on the couch next to her as she began sipping at her drink. His hand grazed her arm as if he was looking at his next meal, her breath caught in her throat. She realized she wanted him but did she really know how to grab a man like his, and his attention? She questioned herself but never once pulled away. He started to whisper things Italian in almost a whispered tone as he reached cupping her face. He leaned in and she closed her eyes she waited for his kiss and instead there was an abrupt knock at the door that startled them from what could have been the hottest sexual encounter. She heard chatter at the door and Lilith's name mentioned before the girl barged into the living room seeming drugged up on something. She was an atrocious looking girl to Lexi, she was supposed to be goth but she was plain scary. She couldn't still see why this was what Professor Russo wanted as side candy. The girl was rude and had no issues putting her nose where it didn't belong. Lexi and Professor Russo were having a lovely time and now it was ruined.
As the girl waltzed into the room, could clearly see she was drugged up on something, swaying side to side over to the couch. As she got to Lexi she went to put her hand out to shake it and had to make a smug comment softly under her breath. "Thanks for coming, you can go now. Its nice you are leaving without me even biting." She flopped down on the couch. This angered Lexi, she scrunched her face as the professor sat down beside Lilith. Lexi snapped back "I never said I was leaving, and I bite back thank you." The professor took Lilith's side telling Lexi that its not her fault cause she was clearly on some kind of drug as he pulled her into his arms. Soon as there was a knock on the door this time no one had to go get it this gentleman walked in loudly calling out for the professor. The man introduced himself as Theo, this was Jordan adopted son and the main emergency room doctor in the town. He was quiet handsome but Lexi had eyes only for Professor Russo at the moment. Everyone stood up as he walked in but Lexi felt nauseated all of a sudden the alcohol was kicking in and she went to faint and Theo caught her. By this time Lexi looked up to see Lilith taking her clothes off and unbuttoning the professors pants right there in front of them all she had plans to fuck him no matter who was there. Lexi couldn't think straight enough so she followed Theo to the kitchen who got her a cool compress for her head and let her throw up in the trash can. All while she was trying to get her head to stop pounding and think straight all she could hear is the moaning of Lilith and grunts from the professor.
It literally made her sick when she knew it should have been her and the professor that night but it all went to hell cause of that bitch. Theo offered to call her a uber so she took him up on it there was no way she wanted to stay there a minute longer. She headed home once the car got there and even though she knew what was waiting on her at home she was not wanting to be there anymore. She slipped into her house that laid dark and quiet she was sure they were asleep. She scooted down the hall to her room and right before walking in her moms boyfriend grabbed her by the wrist. "You smell like a cheap whore with all those booze on you." His words stung especially since she was no whore and she had only had a lil to drink just showed she wasn't good with alcohol. She pulled her arm back fast shutting her door and locking it. She knew with how she was feeling and the fact he talked like that she wasn't going to give him a chance to put his hands on her. He didn't put up a fight and it didn't take long before she heard her moms moans so she guessed she was right he would have had his way with her if she hadn't shut that down so fast. She rolled over still feeling crappy and fell asleep she knew tomorrow started a new day at campus. Could she win over Professor Russo in the end?

The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom Anime Review
Spoilers Included
Tumblr media
So this anime from the trailer caught my interest and seemed quiet unique. I try to look for that when watching new animes so that its a diversity and stays fresh however some I just like the characters. So for this one the characters are likable but honestly this anime didn't hit quiet as high as I would have liked let me explain why.
Tumblr media
The main part of the show centers around these two sisters which later you find out are first cousins anyways. Philia and Mia are close until they are ripped apart. Philia sold to another kingdom by her fiancé who already you see is a piece of shit. So this is the very first part and you see her parents are in with the prince and are all for it. They want Mia to thrive and since Philia is the better saint then they know she has to go if Mia is to ever be on top.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Philia is a character who is quiet and meek and really doesn't try to step out of line. Perfect example of a child that grew into a woman by abusive parents who yelled and neglected her. Even when she is at the new kingdom Parnacorta she is so timid and scared to step out of line until they show her a different way to live. I do feel like she is a character that in time will grow to fit in as if she was always there. However you do not see this in the show, you do see her change some but she still more kuudere if you ask me never really know what she is feeling. Even her love story felt like a slow process. Like if you were to choose based by episodes I feel like for her to really be comfortable and relaxed with him belike episode 30 or something its so far out and all. Even at the end it shows them on a date but I swear his feelings are way more advanced than hers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mia was a likeable character she just wanted to be with her sister and do her justice for what was done to her. She was Philia's biggest supporter and their bond was sweet. She had way more of a personality which meant watching her was much more pleasurable. I thought her and Fernand were cute together but they never really jumped onto that romance before the tv series ended. Would have been sweeter and more fluffy to watch I think.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This dude was attractive but he is psycho no matter what. He sells Philia to another kingdom so he can try to marry her sister anyways. I was so glad they beat him down for trying to kill his father and brother but then was irritated he came back and was still an asshole. Like this guy just kept coming with his bullshit and he did not get what he deserved however was nice watching Mia screw him over.
Tumblr media
Fernand was a good character I liked how he bounced back once Mia made him understand her side and her itself. The way he looked at her he was falling for her fast yet never truly made a move hopefully in the manga they end up together. I think his personality is so sweet and nothing like Julius.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Osvalt is your normal prince who wants to play the white night. He has a sweet face and easy to love but seen his type a thousand times. He is predictable in his actions and it wasn't hard to see from the first day he was crushing on Philia. Even when he confesses to Philia a bit of how he feels still all expected, he is what he is a great white knight.
Tumblr media
This is the other brother Reichardt, very attractive alot smoother head and its not hard to see why he will one day take over before Osvalt. He is much more king material and at one point I hoped Philia would have chose him. Then you find out he had a beloved he loved and she died yet they didn't dig very deep into this. If they ever mentioned how or why it was such a small part that I already forgot cause I don't remember it. I wish we could have gotten to know his character more, think he is worth knowing.
Tumblr media
By the time this man came in I was lost, because you think you understand where the show is going then they just throw this guy in who is love with someone who looks like Philia and now wants to make her his bride in his beloveds body. This for me is where the shows rating dropped for me. Sure you saw the couple come together Osvalt & Philia but this really felt forced, the story, the romance in this part just all wonky for me. So my rating before this end was like a 7 on the list but quickly was knocked down to a 5 because it really is a anime I feel like people will see and forget. There is nothing to prevent that, no big enough scenes, not enough really relatable or likeable characters. Hopefully if you got this far or watched the anime that you feel even remotely to pick up the manga to see if it gets better however in my eyes I can't even be asked to read this story in manga.

My Apologies
So I haven't been posting much because at the first of the month my husband fell and ended up in the hospital. They found blood clots through out his lungs and up into his neck. Since then he has had 7 blood transfusions, and surgery once to remove the clots. Those were a success at least however still has the one in his neck and on blood thinners. He was transported to another hospital a better trauma one within our state and they been working on helping him for the last week and a half. They are now thinking he might have lymphoma cancer so they are running more tests this week and been holding my breath hoping its not so. He has been sick for the last year and just gotten worse too stubborn to go to the hospital until he fell. I will try to post as I can but please know my life has me busy with that at the moment too. Please keep us in your prayers, I may be separated but still he is a good friend to me and I don't want to see him die.

Original Poem - With Every Breath of Me
With Every Breath of Me
You fell asleep mid-call again, Soft breaths begin where dreams begin. I close my eyes, your breath my guide, It steals my heart, I cannot hide. You quiet storms with gentle grace, You bring the calm I long to chase. Your breath, a gift I hold so dear— It tells me that you're still right here. I long to hold you, stroke your cheek, To kiss you as your blush grows meek. And when you snore, I kiss that sound, In tangled limbs, where love is found. Day after day I drift in peace, Your presence grants my soul release. Through every night, I ache to hear You say my name and draw me near. The gifts you give light joy in me, But none compare to how you breathe. To some it seems a foolish thing, But your breath makes my own heart sing. I wait and watch the screen for you— Each second hurts, but love stays true. And then your “morning” blesses mine, My world restored, my stars align. At night you hold me—soft and warm— Your breath against my neck, a balm. And in that moment, soul to soul, You breathe me in and make me whole. I can’t imagine life apart, Without your love, my breath would start To fade away in empty space… But you breathe me in with boundless grace. What world, you ask, would hold our two? Every world you let me love you. With every breath, in every way, I’m yours, my love—forever, stay.
