TOKYO -- A Japanese pharmaceutical firm has revealed that it is considering filing a lawsuit seeking damages from a lawmaker who has been critical about the company's new coronavirus vaccine, describing it as being "like a biological weapon" in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The replicon vaccine, which is sold by Meiji Seika Pharma Co. under the product name "Kostaive," has been put into practical use in this fall's routine inoculations against COVID-19 for the first time. The distributor is considering demanding compensation from Kazuhiro Haraguchi, a House of Representatives member belonging to the main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, claiming that he has defamed the company's reputation by repeatedly expressing disapproval of the drug without scientific evidence.

According to Meiji Seika Pharma and other sources, Haraguchi described the replicon vaccine, which is designed to replicate messenger RNA in cells, as being "like a biological weapon" in a post on his X account. The company sent him a written warning in early October. However, in his campaign bulletin for the Oct. 27 lower house election, Haraguchi wrote, "It is no exaggeration to say that we are being used as guinea pigs when an unknown vaccine is approved only for Japan."

In an opinion released on Oct. 31, Meiji Seika Pharma stated, "We believe that such remarks by a Diet member run the risk of disrupting the foundation of science communication, which is based on objectivity guaranteed by the national government's intervention in medicine and scientific nature, and that they pose a major problem with regard to public health."

The company says that the timing of the lawsuit is "under consideration."

The Mainichi Shimbun asked Haraguchi for comment, but had not received a response as of 5 p.m. on Nov. 1.

Oswald : I made the Human Prince return as a Meister. Thanks to the inspiration of Drawcia's research, I've realized that Ragnarok was the powerful weapon ever to be developed with the same ritual that is the key of unlocking a villain's potential to be God his or herself. Inky Albarn : So I eventually knew, it's because of one thing that doesn't know of why did I do such thing? So if the human Prince is really Crona, does that mean the Crona they knew was a copy of the prince?

Oswald : Indeed, My queen. Crona was just experimentation of reproducing the cells of Human Prince, Crona. That idea of a human was the result of the Ragnarok project, a scientific research project that I inntend of recreating the human prince, Crona. He was the first path that is the result of my plan. Mickey : That's right, Sora. She lost her human blood to an intergalactic that came from the sanctuary on the earth's moon in process of creating the human copy in the past. form of the Ink Demon's beast form is an extremely dangerous and powerful form that no one would able to stop it, not even weapons could even work on the beast! We must know why that Darkness was it's only source of power! We don't the hate darkness that much, it's kinda scary for a girl who wanted to use that power.

Sora : I see. So how can an Ink Demon's beast form will turn back into their normal form. There has to be one way to have solution figuring out what can find a way to revert the orignal's human form again? I better tell Riku and the others! Don't worry, I know how to stop Oswald's plan of world domination and he's in for a nasty butt kicking.

(changes back to the present)

Sora : Riku! That's it!

Riku : What is it?

Sora : Darkness! The powers of Ink and darkness are the same thing! Ink Demons are born from within the darkness the same as humans! And when they look at the Earth's Moon, they unleash the tremendous power of a beast! It all makes sense now!

Beast Maka : Alright! You asked for it!

Akira is Chad’s pick and it completely blew his mind as he watched it for the first time with his mouth hanging open. It’s not just the animation that still captures his attention. It’s also the excellent stories and characters, the relationships, and how it leaned into body horror during the confrontation between Kaneda and Tetsuo. There is so much going on that it’s a treat to sit down and watch it. Akira keeps getting better every time he experiences it.

Crystal also loves the characters and their relationships depicted in the oppressed society of Akira. Those psychic kids messed her up and the animation is great, but it’s really the story that makes it special. Bill prefers watching Akira in the original Japanese language with English subtitles, adding that this beautiful and influential film is an unrelenting and brutal bloodbath of a film in which no character is safe. Akira is the first anime Jeff’s seen with the exception of the original Astro Boy TV series (1963-1965) and he, too, is blown away. There seemed to be no top end as the story, color, and animation just kept ramping up. He’s so glad Chad chose this film.

In general, the 80s Grue Crew prefers the version with Japanese language and English subtitles, but it is difficult to take in the visual feast while reading subtitles. At the time of this writing, Akira is available to stream from Hulu, Funimation, and Tubi, and on physical media as a Blu-ray disc or 4K UHD from Funimation.
