so many people read "Kaz Brekker didn't need a reason" and then just refused to acknowledge the entire following paragraph

If I had a nickel for every time a character talked about their love interest’s “tells” when it comes to The Thing They’re Really Good At in a fairly emotionally charged setting, I’d have two nickels.
Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.

i really don’t know what we did to deserve amita and freddy. their eyes in that last scene in the sanctuary, kaz’s breathing catching as he realizes what inej is telling him, the pain in inej’s eyes when kaz retracts his hand, kaz’s face crumpling as he lets go of that spark of hope when inej leaves and the dirtyhands face, his mask, going up again when she is out of that door. i am on my knees

kiryu sitting haruka down for a really important talk and looking nervous but deeply serious about it and when he finally speaks he gives an honest and vulnerable admission that upon much self reflection, as unlikely as it may seem, as shocking as it may come, he is, in fact, gay, and he hopes this doesn’t make her feel any distress or discomfort in-part due to the implication that he likely didn’t have romantic feelings for her mom, he did care very very much for her regardless of labels, and so on and so on. and she lets him give this lengthy emotional confession that goes on for like twenty minutes before he finally goes dead silent anxiously anticipating her response. and she’s just like. uncle kaz I really appreciate you opening up to me like this and I’m really proud of you for accepting yourself for who you are. but me and every other kid at morning glory figured this out like 10 years ago

I just finished my reread of the six of crows duology. I read all the way from chapter 35 of crooked kingdom to the end and I don't think I'm ever going to recover from this.

*takes you all by the shoulders* look at me. look at me. Kaz's true love isn't krugre, he's feigning because he doesn't want to admit "weakness" and acknowledge that he actually cares for people. Kaz pretending to care for nothing but money is a front. a facade. a lie.
if you genuinely think he loves money more than he loves his friends you're ignoring the entirety of Crooked Kingdom and buying into the persona he built for himself instead of seeing underneath the armor he wears

grishaverse hunger games for wip wed please?
<33333.
Kaz Brekker had been reaped and Pekka Rollins had had no idea who he was. That had burned. The Games had been in imitation of dockyards - with a salt water harbour and a new nightmare that Kaz refused to give up. He’d already pushed his way out of one pile of bodies, why not another? At least he’s honest with himself about what he is.
It’s how he manages to make himself useful enough that they don’t sell him for sex - just for deals. For jobs. It’s how he manages the Crow Club, runs it in all but the name on the deed because in the end Kaz is sold just as all the others are -it just doesn’t involve sex.
He doesn’t want to care again. He does.

as far as we know, i'm assuming kaz's backstory is stretched into 4 episodes, assuming they don't edit it again tomorrow and add more. that 4th episode is named after something kaz says, “When everyone knows you're a monster, you needn't waste time doing every monstrous thing.” kaz says this to inej when he supposedly had people set that girl's apartment on fire when talking with geels. but he didn't, he was bluffing. and do you know another time kaz was bluffing? when he told pekka he buried his son alive. and guess who else we have on that episode:
the little boy whom the kaelish prince was named after. and look at this:
"while Kaz Brekker (Freddy Carter) and his crew attempt to settle an old grudge with vicious rival Pekka Rollins." does that not sound like they're using a bit of the crooked kingdom plotline already to you? with kaz bringing pekka down once and for all and putting him on his knees and asking (once again) if he remembers him and to say jordie's name. when he told pekka his son with the little dime lion toy was buried alive underground in some farm.
imagine kaz asking pekka what he did. what was the name of his brother. and this is when we finally find out after all the happy scenes of kaz and jordie throughout episodes 1 to 3, what tragedy actually had befallen them

So who else watched the second season of Shadow and Bone by skipping all the Darkling bits, most of the Alina bits, and instead gleefully hyperfocusing on all the Crows? And then, when the season was over, went back and rewatched all of the Crows scenes?
