I can't watch duel masters bc of no English so how did you enjoy the katta era
The short version?
It was Mr Bones’ Wild Ride.
The very very long version?
Sorry if this sounds like recapping. But I just wanna ramble about things I liked that stood out to me.
It’s crazy the emotional whiplash one show can put you through.
When I’d started watching Katta era back in the winter of 2022 (yes my watch has taken that long) it would genuinely give me headaches from how fast paced and outlandish the comedy was. It honestly felt like it took hours but then I’d find out I only watched two episodes. And despite all the comedy, it still sucker punched me with heart wrenching emotional moments. The mix of comedy and drama didn’t even feel that out of place. Sure, it dragged on if too many joke eps are in a row, but when the serious moments start I wasn’t like “what is this shit doing in my funny joke comedy show.” Also by the end of it I was starting to lose my mind and really enjoy most of the comedy eps.
It’s like a pendulum that swings back and forth between the extremes of both ends, creating a really…interesting… experience., I used to be really edgy and like only dark things, but in my years I have become aware of how you need light to realize the depths of the dark. And duema is like that but if it punched you in the face.
Being able to see characters be stupid and happy makes you feel worse when things go to shit. And the extent of how bad things can go to shit makes you grateful for having comedy eps.
(I say, like I wasn’t cursing and yelling at comedy eps for how they hurt me by being brain-meltingly insane.)
But to actually talk about specifics in plot and characters, tbh I’d say Lulu and Katta are probably my favorite characters.
To start with Katta, he’s sure a guy to watch. He just does things. And things just happen to him. And as much as I hate to say it he’s a very satisfying character? He morbidly fascinates me. Every annoying trait of his builds a very unfortunately believable profile. He’s a hot-headed, dense, selfish, petty middle schooler who likes curry bread, clout, hamsters, and boobs. He was stillborn, revived by a miracle, spent much of his early childhood in a hospital, and lives in the shadow of his brother who died to save the world.
But I like how even through his denseness, he still cares about his friends. Honestly to the point where he sometimes lashes out with violence before resorting to card games lmao. I’m sorry. He’s funny.
He’s a pretty simple guy with pretty simple wants, and that’s what makes him regrettably endearing to me despite how annoying he and his wants can be. He’s so thick skulled that he plows through most obstacles and nothing seems to ever truly get to him.
He’s a guy that I prayed for the downfall of. But when things actually got to him and he was suffering, I felt bad lol. It’s so jarring to see him sad.
And then he actually developed into slightly less of a bastard!!! He’s still annoying, but he’s truly realized the value of his friends! They keep him from falling to despair! Yay! and he saved the world. Yippee!!!
And for Lulu… as a card game heroine she is so utterly fascinating to me. I’m not like a super card game anime aficionado or anything, but erm. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a heroine they let be as genuinely fucking unhinged as her. Even later Duema heroines don’t match her prowess.
She’s just a normal girl. She’s just a silly girl. She also spent much her early childhood in a hospital. Her forehead shines like the sun. She has a genetic illness that makes her feel sickly and cough a lot. She can break buildings in half barehanded. She’s a little hopeless romantic. She’ll beat anyone who catches her daydreaming. She is on the grindset to marry Katta. She got cucked. The girl who cucked her only did it because she actually had a crush on Lulu and wanted to break her. She’s apart of toxic yuri.
And of course I’m a sucker for the epilogue.
Not only because of my boy Joe, but also because I love seeing how all the characters grew up. Katta and Lulu getting together was expected, but cute and I’m never going to complain. Also Duema was so fucking real for keeping Basa2 together. They’ve healed from wanting to destroy the world and now they can enjoy it!!!! Real!!!!!!!!
I have a lot more things I could ramble about but I’m really just gonna cut myself off here lol. Sorry Gyo, Lucifer, Duemouse, Rare Killers, Kazura, Basa2, and many others, but I don’t wanna make this any longer 💔
Anyway really fun show, I’d recommend it to no one. Stan this fucking thing.
#answered asks#this mel speaks#mel watches katta era#<-yes this isn’t a live watch but I think having my thoughts laid out fits well enough~#anyway yeah. sorry for so much rambling but if you actually try and get my to say my thoughts on duema I have a Lot

AWHH!! I would!! I love your art and your THG x TOH AU!!
do you use everlark or peeniss???
(also, do you plan on doing more on the toh x thg au??)
Everlark of course!! peeniss is... shrugs
I'm working on a couple of everlark comicsss
I've actually worked on the TOH X THG AU but it's more of the prequel/TBOSAS focusing on Philip (Snow), Caleb (Sejanus/Tigris) and Evelyn (Lucy Grey)! But I've not settled the 'plot' yet and so they've remained as shitty sketches especially since I don't think much ppl would be THAT interested in it :^)

Do you have any advice on translating interviews?
Dear Anon,I personally do not know what exactly you are referring to, so I will just write down a few tips per category that is generally useful in translating Japanese to English (assuming that these are the source- and target language you are referring to).
1. Tricky tricks
In Japanese, there are transitive and intransitive verbs, which despite their great similarity mean something entirely different. Also, depending on what particle is being used in the sentence (に、を、が、で Etc.)the sentence can bear yet an entirely different meaning again.Homophones too are rather tricky. 厚い and 暑い for example, are both read as ‘Atsui’, though the former means ‘thick, heavy’, the latter means ‘hot’. And yet, there is another ‘Atsui’ that means ‘hot’, namely 熱い. 暑い is used to describe hot weather or a hot place, while 熱い is used to describe material or substance that is hot. These Kanji are not interchangeable.
If you happen to be proficient in Chinese, beware of false friends!! Always check and double check whether your proficiency in Chinese is hijacking your interpretation of Japanese!!! The most eager translators of Japanese are often Chinese speakers, because with a Chinese language background, learning Japanese is much easier. Still, many fall into the trap of these seemingly identical words known as ‘false friends’. Just one small example. In Japanese you have the word ‘Yuka’ (床), meaning floor, while in Chinese it means bed. Though…… in Japanese context, the difference between the floor and bed comfort wise is very subtle, but that is a very personal opinion. I am truly no fan of futons.
2. Null-subject language
Japanese is a null-subject language, which means that a sentence does not require to have a subject. In English, we say “I drink tea”. You cannot simply say “drink tea” without it becoming imperative. In Japanese however, it is even considered rather unnatural to include the ‘I’ in the sentence.
私はお茶を飲みます (Watashi wa ocha wo nomimasu)
(Adding the ‘Watashi wa’ will in effect sound like: “It is I, who drinks tea!”
✨🍵~( ̄^ ̄)つ ~~ ← cape blows in wind
Usually when Japanese speakers talk, we omit the subject. However, we do not just omit any subject, we only do so if we can assume the recipient of the message will be able to understand whom we are referring to. Usually the subject is only included into the sentence when the subject is being emphasised or when there is a change of subject. セバスチャンはお茶を飲んでいない、主が飲んでいる (Sebastian wa ocha wo nondeinai, aruji ga nondeiru)“Sebastian is not drinking tea, his master is.” A very good example from the Kuroshitsuji manga is Sebastian’s infamous first line “He is calling for me”, 呼んでいる (Yondeiru). It is clear that the speaker is the one whose words rang through dimensions which called Sebastian forth from Hell, which is why Sebastian did not need to explicitly say “He is calling for me”, 彼が呼んでいる (Kare ga yondeiru).
Not only is the subject often omitted, so is the verb (if assumed to be obvious). お茶を (Ocha wo) for example is a construction we use very often. When there is the particle of を, it is clear to the listener that something actively is being done with the tea. There are exceptions of course, but usually we automatically assume that the tea is either being brewed or drank. So as a host, when I walk away from my guest and I say お茶を, you can assume I will go make some tea instead of drinking it, or for god-knows-what-reason, go walk my tea like a dog.
More often than not, when either a subject, object, or even an opinion is omitted, I have to interpret it using the existing context however vague. In this case, I have no choice but to write down my personal interpretation between [square brackets]. For examples where I had to abuse the […], please click here or use the #translation tag on my blog. The trickiest part comes in when opinions are being omitted in Japanese, but cannot be left out in your target language. Because that is when you need to speak for the original speaker…(It’s like real life god-modding O.o) But alas, that’s Japanese for you. When you do, make sure to always put any blanks you filled in yourself between brackets! Always make sure YOUR reader knows what part of the translation can be traced back, and what cannot!
3. Endless sentences
Because Japanese is a null-subject language with many, MANY adverbs, sentences tend to run on and on. When translating to English, beware of legibility in your target language. Do not be scared to chop the original sentence into sections in your translation. As Japanese is a subject-object-verb(SOV. e.g. Sebastian tea drinks) language as opposed to English (SVO. e.g. Sebastian drinks tea), also make sure you swap around the sentence order when need be. Any reader would feel most grateful for this.
あそこの青いベンチに座っていて、スマホをいじりながらスタバで買ったカフェラッテを嬉し気に飲んでいる人は、昨日、私がネットで知り合ったファンの方です。 (Asoko no aoi bench ni suwatteite, SmaPho wo ijirinagara StaBa de katta Cafe Latte wo ureshige ni nondeiru hito wa, kinou, watashi ga Netto de shiriatta Fan no kata desu.)
Don’t Do: There on the blue bench sitting, while swiping the smartphone whilst as though in an air of happiness drinking the cafe latte bought at the Starbucks person, yesterday, I met that fan person on the internet.
Wut? ノ( ̄0 ̄;)\??
Do: Yesterday I met a person on the internet who is a fan. [FULL STOP] It is that person with the smartphone sitting over there, on the blue bench, who seems to be happily drinking a Starbuck’s cafe latte.
ChibiMyumi Approved (*^ー゚)b
That’s about it for now I guess.I hope this long ramble helps. (That is why one should not give me any opportunity to talk about my passions, because there’s not brake to it!)
#Translation#Language#Learning Language#Japanese#I assume at least#Anon#Ask Chibimyumi#Interviews#Good luck#Your translation will be punctuated with square brackets man#[all the way]#That turned out to be a way longer answer than originally intended#Oh wellll

aLet me just... force you all to look at some of my oc’s. I’m doing some kinda ref sheet stuff and will using some of my older ocs as practice. It’s gonna be a friend groups and we have four more guys to go. Rambling about him under red more
He’s a super old oc of mine that I used in a rp when I was around... 13-ish, I think? Around 2009 I believe. Back then he was around 18 and as I grew older, he kinda grew with me. I tweaked him a bit and would would also age him up from time. At current he’s somewhere in his 20′s.
Anyway, that’s Nefas, a latin word that I just thought sounded cool for name. It doesn’t say much about his character. He’s a fairy and as all of my magical oc’s he can somewhat hide his features (wings, feelers, any extra hands and eyes) to appear more human. And to make it easier for me to draw them. He’s italian, got a patchwork family with five more siblings. (Two of them half siblings, two more are step-siblings). He’s probably closest with his sister Lemon, who is shown in the pic. His italian roots is def where he got his ‘talking with hands’ from. He used to swim which is why I always wanted him to have a bit of a ‘swimmer back’ but once he left school he eventually started taking up boxing instead. He’s not a book smart person and learned a trade after school, I was thinking mechanic or something similar. He’s a very outgoing and friendly person, kind of a flirt, sometimes a bit cocky, definite an extrovert. He likes being around people and generally people like being around him because he’s rather easy going and just generally positive. Back then in the rp he had a demon boyfriend called Severin (not my oc, belongs to Abso Katta) They broke up for a while because both had their problems to deal with (Nef actually had a problem with substance abuse [drinking and also smoking to some degree] ) but eventually got back together. Because we like happy endings.
