Ramblings About Batfam Comics I Read This Week
So. I spent this week reading unhealthy amounts of batfam comics, and I have thoughts!
I have now read the entirety of the Red Robin solo comic, all of Batgirl Volume 3 (Stephanie Brown's batgirl run), Batman: the Road Home because I kinda had to for context, about half of the currently running Batgirls comic (Cass and Steph share the Batgirl role with Barbara as their mentor and also sometimes Batgirl), and The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller.
Why these? Simple, I wanted to read Batgirls, I wanted Red Robin Tim, and I wanted Carrie Kelley's existence. So, without further ado, here are my major thoughts!
You know me, my ramblings turn into long essays, so it all goes under a cut and subsections! As per usual, TL;DR at the bottom!
Multiple Comics:
1. Comics are funnier than we give them credit for. Even the edgiest ones I was reading left me cracking up every once in a while.
2. I have maintained this since I first started learning about the BatFam, and I will maintain it till I die---Batman has partners, not sidekicks. They don't follow his orders. He doesn't LET them do anything. He runs around doing damage control while a bunch of absolutely feral children fight crime. Batman doesn't make heroes. He finds heroes and makes sure they have access to a decent first aid kit, training, and some morals.
3. Stephanie Brown is a BAMF who does NOT get the love she deserves. Not only is she smart, determined, and awesome in a fight, she's got something that many batfam characters lack: kindness. Stephanie is sweet and adorkable and nice to everyone while still managing to be a chaotic, hypercompetent, sarcastic menace to society. I'll go into more details under the Batgirl v. 3 section, but I am now a massive Stephanie Brown stan, and I will not tolerate slander! Put some respect on the name of Stephanie f*cking Brown!
4. I am now both a shipper of TimSteph and CassSteph. With occasional HarperSteph. This is unsurprising. I have multiple characters I like together in most mediums, and I don't give a crap about canon, so I can ship whichever one I'm in the mood for! :)
5. In a similar vein, reading the comics very much stoked my already strong DickBabs fire. I love me so Birdflash, RobStar, and Babs/Kara, but I'm beginning to think DickBabs is my favorite combo.
6. Stephanie's OG spoiler costume is her best one, but she's at her best characterization as v. 3 Batgirl.
7. F*CK YOU NEW 52! Nobody likes you, and you ruin everything! You robbed me of my favorite incarnations of these characters! DEATH TO THE NEW 52! BURN, YOU DISGUSTING INSULT TO NARRATIVE CONSISTENCY!
8. Damian and Dick as Batman and Robin are honestly precious together. I only got bits and pieces viewed through Batgirl and Red Robin's eyes, but I really like them and their dynamic with both each other and everyone else. I think my favorite thing is definitely that they have named combo moves where they complete each other's quips. It's adorable.
9. Bruce is a well-meaning a**hole. He really does care about his family, but he needs to trust them more and get MUCH better at communicating.
10. Did you know everybody has a cool base outside of the Batcave? Damian and Dick are based in Wayne Tower, Tim has his Nest, Babs has the Clocktower, and Steph's Team Batgirl has the Firewall which is below Oracle's apartment.
Red Robin Solo Run
1. Tim is one cool BAMF. Man fought the whole Court of Spiders at once---who were killing League of Assasins members for fun BTW---and won and got the civilian bystander out safely. He blew up ALL of Ra's Al Ghul's bases, then fought off Ra's double threat of a hostile takeover on Wayne Enterprises and attempts to assasinate all of Batman's loved ones. He took down the evil, corruptive, hive-mind dark-net that supervillains use to communicate (yes this is a thing that exists). He successfully got evidence that Batman was alive when NOBODY else believed him and then was one of the first to actually know he was back and easily pass Bruce's tests (yes, Bruce tested people instead of telling them he was alive, because he is a well-meaning a**hole).
3. Tim is an edgy teenager. He does at least as much brooding as Batman, but with this sarcasm and dry wit behind everything that Batman doesn't really have. Tim has a consistent "Well f*ck my life, I guess," mentality that is FASCINATING to read, and is the source of a lot of his humor. He has a habit of reacting to really dramatic and serious situations with a deadpan "Welp. That ain't good. Guess I'll either figure it out or die trying."
2. Tim is apparently a chick-magnet. Just in Red Robin, he's got a thing going with Tam Fox and Lynx, Prudence Wood thinks he's sexy, he almost gets raped by Ra's Al Ghul's half-sister, and he and Steph still have feelings about each other that primarily consist of "why does my ex have to be so hot?" I am now incorporating this fact into ALL of my headcanons. It also makes for some fun drama, because all of these ladies (except maybe Steph) are way more into Red Robin than they are Tim Drake, even if they're aware of his identity. I find this objectively hilarious.
3. Tim's cowl is stupid. Apparently, the artist got the memo about halfway through the comic since tim has a pretty cool, uniquely shaped domino mask when he's in the Ünternet. This should be his mask in all appearances. Clearly unique to Red Robin, but not the stupid earless cowl.
4. Tim has SOME sort of neurodivergence going on because my man hyperfixates like nobody's business. He literally has a page where he rambles about how something'll catch his attention and he'll get sucked into it and give it his whole focus and be unable to stop thinking about it, to the detriment of his other commitments.
5. Tim somehow manages to have a thriving social life and no social life at all, and the comic agrees with me. He regularly teams up with the Teen Titans and other Gotham Weirdos TM. He's got a civilian ally/life companion in the form of Tam Fox. He has his guy in the chair, Money Spider a.k.a. Anarky a.k.a Lonnie Machin. He's got Prudence Wood and a couple of other folks with questionable morals on his payroll. And of course, he's got Bruce. He even tells Ra's at some point, "I'm not Batman. I have friends." But he also seems to do a really good job at not telling people things and thus being isolated anyway. He doesn't really doesn't share much of his personal stuff with anyone, especially not initially, so they can't really help him with stuff or provide him with the right companionship. This is perhaps most evident in his relationship with Tam Fox, which he effectively destroys by not telling her that her father Lucius isn't actually dead, and Tim just faked it for one of his plans. He didn't even forget, he just deemed not telling her the best course of action. Both he and Batman are concerned about this.
6. Tim has MASSIVE supervillain vibes. Like, Tim would make the BEST supervillain if he hadn't decided to be so heroic. Lemme. Lemme just give you a list.
Tim has a hit list. And those aren't my words. He calls it a hit list. It's mostly supervillains, and he specifically designs his schemes so that one arrest leads directly into the next. But it also has Robin as a contingency plan and a couple of other people who are decidely not bad guys.
He's a schemer. Bruce's whole test for him involves testing how he does at improvising because Tim has a penchant for creating carefully crafted plans like some sort of maniacal supervillain. And they work pretty much every time.
Tim's subconscious mind manifests as The Riddler. Lemme explain. While Tim is in the virtual reality, Ready-Player-One-esque dark net that the supervillains have set up, his attempt to puzzle out what's going on manifests as The Riddler giving him cryptic clues. The Riddler. THE RIDDLER! This is decidedly his own doing, not the Ünternet's.
Tim keeps his morals because he promised Batman, not because he actually has those morals himself. This sounds worse than it is. It's not like he actively wishes to break his moral code, he just comments multiple times in sticky situations that he would do X thing if it wouldn't be so disappointing to Batman and other people. On multiple occassions (see, blowing up the LoA bases), he actually does X thing because he thinks it's more important than approval.
Tim has ambitions to make Gotham the leader of the world. He specifically starts a number of international outreach programs for Wayne Enterprises with making Gotham the World Hub in mind. He has other altruistic reasons, but this is the one he's most focused on. This scheme also inspires Bruce to start Batman Inc., a.k.a. the thing Bruce has been doing since his return from his vacation in the time stream. Tim acknowledges that he's the inspiration and also that Bruce does not consciously know he was inspired by Tim.
He's manipulative and will work with all kinds of people if it serves his goals. This includes unpredictable people like Anarky, dangerous people like Man Bat, and morally questionable people like Lynx and Prudence Wood. His manipulation tactics mostly come in the form of cutting off other people's options until helping him is their best choice and withholding information until sharing it suits him. Batman in the making.
You see what I mean? Kid would make a GREAT criminal mastermind. Definitely got them villain vibes.
7. F*CK YOU NEW 52. The comic ended really abruptly on an ominous note with an unfinished plot because suddenly we had to do a whole reboot of the universe. Because the New 52 SUCKS!
Batgirl Volume 3
1. *ahem* STEPHANIE BROWN IS THE BEST CHARACTER! STEPH STANS UNITE! WE RIDE AT DAWN!
2. No, but seriously. I mentioned in the general section that Stephanie is a total BAMF who also has SO much heart! I think something really unique about her is her ability to be kind to and befriend literally anyone.
She becomes tentative friends with this absolute jerk girl Jordanna who's really mean to Steph because she's possesive of her friends, who all think Steph is cool. Steph doesn't judge, presses on, and manages to get Jordanna to at least accept her, if not be actively kind to her.
It's due to Steph's efforts that Wendy Harris a.k.a. Proxy a.k.a. Oracle in Training really feels accepted in her new hero role.
Steph looked at Damian in the height of his brat era and said, "You know what this kid needs? A bouncy house! Yeah, I'mma teach him how to have fun and be a kid by forcibly taking him to a bouncy castle!"
Batgirl is noted as. . .not as legal as Batman, but she still manages to make her own police force connection.
She's helpful and chill to Klarion the Witch Boy even though, as usual, all their problems in that issue are his fault.
She beats up a dude who's trying to blow up a train, and her ability and tenacity impress him so much that he becomes the Grey Ghost and tries to help her out. She thinks it's annoying and is worried about him (rightfully so, since he gets shot), but she does listen to him.
Steph will look at almost anyone with kindness and without judgement and has an astounding capability to befriend people because of this.
3. Steph is FREAKING HILARIOUS! Steph is probably the chattiest hero, especially when she's fighting bad guys, and it is both so effective and SO funny! She'll just start totally random conversations about WHATEVER while she's busy beating people up, and it makes me cackle every time. She also literally teaches people banter and gives them turns! It's amazing! Like, I'm not sure I'd call her quippy since she's not actually usually insulting people. She's just making casual, friendly conversation at really inappropriate times for it.
4. That's not the only way she's funny, either. Steph also has "inner monologue problems" where she'll say her thoughts out loud. This becomes a running gag to the point that Babs'll continually have to tell her she's using her "outside voice." It's funny and awkward every time! And then there's her habit of paraphrasing stuff that culminates when she tells Wendy the entire batfamily history in chibi doodles with absolutely zero respect. Never fear, Stephanie is here to make you laugh!
5. Steph is a GRADE A BAD-A**! My girl will challenge anyone, get in over her head, make decisions on the fly, and still win! Technically, this is a Batman Road Home Moment, but when Batman pulls his "I'm testing people instead of telling them I'm back" BS on Steph, she b*tch slaps him and then runs away while saying "I'm glad you're not dead." Bruce's only response is Bruce-speak for "I deerved that." When literally all of Gotham turns into mind controlled zombies that are after her, she outruns them by hijacking an equally mind-controlled ManBat, wrangling him until they crash into the airport, and then hitching a ride with Proxy in the T-Jet that they barely know how to fly. This works. Even when she's getting knocked around, Steph is kicking butt, taking names, and refusing to let her frankly awful lot in life get her down.
6. Steph is an improviser. My girl almost never has a plan. She thrives on the chaos. She's far more likely to disobey orders and go in guns blazing and figure it out on the fly than waste time trying to meticulously plan out something that'll probably go wrong anyway. Like, she knows the value of planning and does it every once in a while, but I feel like Steph would win almost any fight where both parties have 0 prep time simply because she's so much better at thinking on the fly and getting herself out of scrapes than anyone else.
7. Steph doesn't follow ANYONE'S orders because she is an independent adult, dammit! At the beginning of the issue, Cassandra Cain runs off to Hong Kong and hands off the Batgirl mantle to Steph. Literally everyone she comes across gives her crap for not being Cass, tells her to stop, and thinks that she shouldn't be doing that job. Everyone from random street level goons to Barbara and Dick. Steph doesn't listen and keeps going until she finally shows off enough determination that Babs gets her head out of her ass. Even after that, Steph'll happily disregard orders from Oracle, Batman, Red Robin, her mom, the cops and anyone else who tries to boss her around if she thinks it'll help. And the best part is, she's right almost every time. Steph has good judgement. She knows when she's right, and she won't let anyone tell her different.
8. I absolutely loved the dynamics between all the members of Team Batgirl. Babs taking Steph under her wing and helping her come into her own as Batgirl is amazing. One of the sweetest moments in the whole thing is when Babs gifts Steph the original Batgirl costume (she'd been using Cass's up until that point). In turn, Steph helps Babs open up and find joy and purpose in her life again, when she'd mostly been running on spite at that point. They also are so in sync with each other that it's hilarious. My favorite example is, in a situation that is getting progressively worse, Babs and Steph have the exact same inner monologue: "Crap. DOUBLE crap." It only gets better when Wendy's around, with Steph and Babs connecting to her issues each in their own way. It's beautiful and really helps Wendy grow as a person and heal her heart.
9. Steph needs to do more team ups with people. Yes, she's fantastic and compelling by herself, but she becomes downright marvelous when she's got someone to bounce off of, and her natural friendliness makes her a good pick for team ups. One of my favorite issues was definitely the one where she hung out with Kara and they beat up vampires together. It was adorable.
10. F*CK YOU NEW 52! WHY DID YOU TAKE THIS FROM ME?! WTF!
Batman: The Road Home
1. I only really read this one for context on what was going on in Batgirl and Red Robin, but I do have a couple thoughts.
2. Alfred and Co. have basically kidnapped Hush a.k.a. Thomas Elliot and are holding him hostage in a penthouse. They force him to do appearances as Bruce Wayne while Bruce is still missing, and he is soooooooo salty about this. This is objectively funny.
3. Vicki Vale is actually a really cool character who deserves better. A bit lacking in the common sense and self-preservation departments, but cool nonetheless. She's pushy and invasive and catty, but she is good at her job and I would be just as irritated as her if I had fallen as far from grace as her.
3. Bruce, you're an a**hole. You wanna tell people you're home instead of putting them through insane tests of skill and character while disguised as some random and possibly malevolent vigilante? They GRIEVED you! Some of them are probably STILL grieving! Give Dick a hug dammit!
4. Ra's, you're a creepy weirdo. Go back to brooding in your vampire box now please!
The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller
1. These books are REALLY FREAKING GOOD. I know, who woulda thought, seeing as how it's one of the most popular and talked about Batman comics ever. But seriously. You should read these. I was reluctant to do so, since a lot of people were like "Oh it's Frank Miller, he's edgy, and his Batman has all the tired edgy Batman tropes." I'm sorry, you don't see him using guns, you don't see him killing anyone, you don't see him being a terrible person. This Batman NEEDS a therapist. Desperately. But he's also still a good person. This is ACTUALLY cool edgy Batman, where his issues are used to create a more compelling narrative, not the "cool" edgy Batman that operates under the "grimdark is cool" principle.
2. I almost cried a couple times! This comic has an overwhelming melancholy feel that I just really enjoyed. Everything and everyone feels tired and sad. Everyone. The best part is that this comic is told primarily from Bruce's perspective and Bruce is SO empathetic and caring, that he feels not only his own melancholy, but everybody else's too, and it's so effective! I think the best example is when Two-Face, recently released from Arkham, goes full relapse and Batman is forced to tie him up and leave him for the cops. He looks at Harvey and just goes "That's a kindred spirit, and I feel for him."
3. The story is told interspersed with TV stations and news radio fighting and bickering and reporting. Nobody is quite sure what to make of the Batman situation, and almost all of them feel negatively about it. The only reporter who actually seems in support of Batman is Lana Lang, and she's also one of the few people who feels RATIONAL during the comic. Like, everybody is reacting very poorly and with panic and contempt towards Batman's return, and it really really isn't helpful. You get this feeling of "it's us against the world," and it really contributes to the vibes.
4. Bruce is an old man. He's technically only 55, but a lifetime of fighting crime, trying (and failing to quit), and becoming dependent on alcohol to keep away the nightmares and the call to dress up as The Rodent of Vengeance will seriously mess up your body. Every time he gets in a fight, he is extremely conscious of how slow he is, how much more he can feel each hit, how much of an advantage all of the youngsters he's fighting have on him. It's to the point that he literally has to plan around his old age and failing body.
5. Alfred is PEAK SASSY in here, and it's beautiful! I actually think this might have the best characterization of Alfred, like, ever. He loves Bruce. That's his kid. Not his master. His kid. He's not gonna leave him alone. But, he also has too much dedication to his role as "butler" to actually stop him from doing anything STUPID, so he resorts to just sassing the man RUTHLESSLY instead. And for all the sass he gives Bruce about being Batman, he's also just as deep into this weird lifestyle. The highlight is definitely Alfred telling Bruce after the first night out that if it's suicide he's after, Alfred has an old family recipe that will be just as slow and excruciating, but less illegal.
6. Commissioner Gordon does not, never has, and never will get paid enough for dealing with this. Commissioner Yindel has no idea what steaming pile of sh*t she's just stepped into, and Gordon tried to warn her. Gordon, even though he continues to not particularly approve, remains one of Batman's staunchest allies through the whole thing. It's actually really heartwarming to see their "brothers in arms" thing they've got going.
7. OHMIGOSH CARRIE KELLEY! That is one AMAZING Robin right there!
Do you know how she becomes Robin? She sees Gordon turn on the batsignal, and she's ✨inspired✨ She saves up two weeks of lunch money, buys a Robin costume, grabs a slingshot and some fireworks, and starts fighting criminals and discreetly following Batman around. Like, that's just some sheer tenacity right there! My girl has moxie! She has grit! She has heart! She's the perfect Robin!
Anytime I do stuff with Carrie Kelley, I will be including the fireworks. Her first act as Robin is to stick a firecracker in a mugger's back pocket. Seriously.
Her first thing she does with Batman is to follow him to a really dangerous fight, find him at the end, drag his unconscious, broken body back to the batmobile, splints his arm with her girl scout training, and get him back to Alfred so he doesn't DIE! Batman, already feeling extremely sad because he misses Dick, decides to train her and take her on.
Poor Carrie! Her parents are awful! Like, they don't remember they have a kid level awful! Being with Bruce might be child endangerment, and he might be a quiet stoic bastard who keeps threatening to fire her, but at least he acknowledges her existence!
Carrie, my darling, my dear, my sweet baby girl, I don't understand HALF the stuff that comes out of your mouth! You and your 80s slang. Sweet mercy.
8. I think this universe had a. . .um. . . Marvel Civil War thing. Like, the whole thing is that Superman works for the government, invisibly, instead of publicly. He has to follow their orders, and he doesn't like it, but it does mean he still gets to save people. Oliver/Green Arrow apparently didn't listen and is rotting in jail (Bruce has to bust him out in the last issue). It's implied to be, along with the death of Jason, the thing that made Batman quit. Now that he's back, the whole government is NOT HAPPY about it. They mostly just try to ignore him with "not my circus, not my monkeys," but, the president does sic Clark on him to try to talk him down. Clark predicts that this'll go badly, but tries anyway. His prediction is correct.
9. Poor Selina! You didn't deserve that. TBH, nobody except Joker deserves what happens to them in this book. It's all just really tragic and sad.
10. Bruce is a deeply unwell man in this comic. Like, he definitely seems at his most emotionally healthy and lucid while he's being Batman, but that kind of obsessive drive clearly isn't good for him, mentally or physically. He's kind of just, purposeless and slipping away before he takes up the cowl, and afterwards, he is so so sad and feels like he's succumbed to his worst impulses. It's a lose lose lose situation for him. Poor dude.
11. F*ck you Joker. 'Nuff said. Stay dead this time please.
12. Batman, you've emotionally adopted Carrie. I know you're actively doing child endangerment and stuff, but you care about this little girl. You can stop referring to her as "good soldier."
13. The shot of Batman on the horse makes me want to write a Wild West AU of Batman, because that was a vibe and a half!
14. Just go read this one, seriously, it's good.
TL;DR
I know I didn't put in a segment on Batgirls, but I wanna finish that one first! It'll probably get it's own post!
Basically, this post boils down to:
Batfam comics are really great. I like reading the comics. At least the outdated ones that I was reading.
Steph is the best, put some respect on her name.
Comic books are funny.
Comics are heartwarming.
Tim has supervillain vibes and sad wet cat vibes at the same time.
The Dark Knight Returns is really sad and really good.
F*CK THE NEW 52!
That's all I've got for you! I still gonna be stewing on these for DAYS, but this at least helped get it out of my system. Now go read some comic books!

Pairings: Kara Danvers x Reader
Tags: Fluff, Humor, Appreciation, Streaming
Tumblr media
You loved streaming and the idea behind it was great, so when you actually started to gain followers for doing the most ridiculous things and putting it on the internet, you were shocked. The comments you received had your average range, which included well thought out, kind words, to your classic hateful internet trolls. You couldn’t even remember what your first video was honestly. You had created so much content in the past two years that it was almost hard to keep up with what you had already done.
You wanted to say that your very first video was you recording your reaction to the world hottest chip. That had sucked so hard. With your face on fire and your tongue feeling like you had personally licked Satan’s asshole, you had to drown your face in milk just to calm the fiery sensation in your mouth, and even then, your sinuses had taken days to go back to normal. Ever since then, your content ranged from original ideas that you would occasionally think of to reaction videos that others would tag you in. Your idea for today was to do a live Q and A to give you a chance to interact with your followers more.
Kara Danvers, your beautiful girlfriend, supported your love of streaming since day one. Sometimes when she was at work, she would open an internet tab just to watch you stream. She even helped you to get new equipment a few times just to show that you had her full support as always. So, when you came to her with your notes in hand, you didn’t even have to say anything. She gave you a kiss and told you to have fun. That was one of the many things that you absolutely adored about her. She was so patient with you despite all your faults, and the fact that you hadn’t chased her out the door, spoke miracles. Kara was one of the best things to ever happen to you.
You’re setting up, booting your laptop and making sure that your camera and mic are working without a hitch. Your gaze travelled to your phone where you’re already getting notifications from your subscribers. Some had jumped online 10 minutes before your stream was actually supposed to start and were firing questions at you in rapid succession. You smiled as excitement and anticipation made you vibrate happily. Your phone went off again, only this time, it was a text from Kara. It read:
I love you
You smiled, your heart swelling with so much adoration that it almost hurt, and as the clock ticked down, you only had less than a minute left to finish preparing. You tidied up your workspace and fixed your hair right as the camera clicked on and you went live.
“Hello everybody! This is Y/f/n back at it again to entertain you guys. I see we have some early birds already asking me questions, so I won’t procrastinate.”
You didn’t know what to expect with doing this event with literal strangers on the internet, and you anticipated some really crazy and convoluted questions. Surprisingly, all the questions were very tasteful, and you found yourself enjoying all of them. You got one about where you wish to be ten years into the future. Then you got another one asking if you traveled recently. It was great.
It was perhaps 10 minutes into your stream when Kara walked into your room. Then, several things happened all at once. At first, you didn’t know that she was in the room with you. You first noticed your live feed going absolutely crazy with comments and emojis. You stopped mid-sentence before you register that Kara was in fact behind you with a snack in hand. She paused, her deep blue eyes going wide when she realized that you were still live.
“Y/n I’m so sorry!” she whispered, nervous that she may have messed things up. You smiled before eyeing the comments once again. They came in rapid succession and it was almost hard to read them before more popped up and took its place.
‘😍😍😍😍’
‘She’s so pretty!!!’
‘Is that your girlfriend???? She’s gorgeous!’
‘Is she single?’
‘!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
Those were some of the comments that you read and more kept coming in. You laughed, your face buried in your hands and your cheeks blushing as you watched the scene unfold before you. Kara came closer and got a glance of the comments before she giggled. Somehow, she got more fame than you in literal seconds just for giving you a snack. You nibbled on your lip as you beckoned Kara closer to you with the crook of your finger.
You could only imagine what people were seeing. Kara was still in her lounge clothes and that included a baggy shirt and shorts. She still had messy hair that somehow looked very flawless and when she smiled with straight white teeth, you swore that she broke the internet. Kara leaned over you to give you a hug and winked at the camera with the tip of her tongue brushing her front teeth. Everyone. Lost. It. In one single gesture, Kara had stolen the show from you, and you couldn’t help but giggle. But it was fun watching her. It reminded you of the small things that you fell in love with and how her naturally bubbly personality was addictive. Kara never once thought of herself as perfect, but to you, she was like a flawless gem that sparkled beautifully in the sunlight, and as you watched her now, being the cutest dork you’ve ever seen, it was that moment that you concluded that your life was made ten times better with her in it. All you wanted was to love and cherish her…but not while she was making funny faces into the camera.
“Seriously?” you said to her, giving her a kiss when she tried to look innocent. She set the plate of food on your desk, and with a sweet kiss on your cheek, exited the room.
‘I would die if I was with her!’ someone commented on your stream and you smiled.
“Yeah I’m pretty lucky to be with her.”
Lucky wasn’t even the word to describe it.

Favourite supergirl episodes from any season?
Sorry for answering this late. I tried to answer last week and the tumblr app didn’t let me. Anyway here goes:
S1  Pilot: I loved the way the characters, the setting and plot were introduced Fallen: The Red K episode! I liked that Red K Kara was actually dangerous and had real reasons to be angry (contrary to Clark in Smallville who was just a rebelious teen under the influence of Red K). Earth’s Finests: I loved how Barry (and the multiverse) was introduced in the show and how he and Kara became instant adorkable friends! I crave more crossovers with just the two of them teaming up against minor badguys. From S2 to S4, every scene with Lena is a favorite S2  The adventures of Supergirl: because it’s when Lena arrives and also I liked how they portrayed Superman. Duet: couldn’t care less about the plot BUT I loved Darren Criss’ role, and also the adorkable friends singing and dancing together! Alex. When Alex gets kidnapped. I loved how Kara and Maggie had to grow and learn to work together for Alex’ sake. Also Alex is very very badass which was cool.
S3 Damage: When Morgan Edge accuses Lena of poisoning the children. We get to see a more vulnerable Lena and Kara and Sam working together to clear her name  Midvale: a very intense (emotion wise) episode where we get to dive into the Danvers’ familly past, and discover how Alex and Kara became the Danvers sisters we know and love. We also get to see Eliza being a mom and it was sweet. Crisis on Earth X (the SG part): A lot of fun scenes, and a lot of cool additions to Kara ( the sleep hovering, and the sort of sonic attack when she claps her hands+ bonus because she sings again) For Good: When Lena is poisonned (and Kara risks her secret to save her) and Lilian comes back to kill Edge because she was trying to harm Lena. Lena finally got to be a Luthor in her own way. She owned both her name and the fat that she was good. (Which was completely forgotten in S5 but whatever) Honorable mention to Reign (for the fight between Supergirl and Reign) and Legion of Superheroes (when Kara's in the coma and we get to learn more about her).    S4 Ahimsa: We learn about Lena’s little boxes (and how her mind works), she bonds a little more with Brainy which is great, and well...The FREAKING supersuit she creates to save Kara!! Elseworlds: part 2, the Arrow episode where Barry, Oliver and Kara go to Gotham, find the Bat signal and meet Kate Kane/ Batwoman. I loved her dynamic with Kara! Blood memory: The episode where Nia visits her family with Kara. Very intense emotionally! The House of L: I love how the story of Red daughter ties all the plots of the season together and back to Lex Luthor. Also Red daughter was a highlight of that season! Melissa Benoist killed it! She managed to create a character that still is Kara without actually being her.  Will The Real Miss Tessmacher Please Stand Up? Lena and Kara investigating Lex’s activities in Kaznia (plus the scenes in ep 19 when they find out about Kaznia). I love it when these two work together! (Stronger Together!!!) S5 was mosty a joke but I liked Event Horizon for the VR and the reveal scene. Also loved every supercorp scene up to episode 8 (plus the couple of scenes they shared in ep 17, 18 and 19). The actresses did a wonderful job together. I also like Alex’s new costume

LONG post in regards to whats being said about Lena.
Man, every time the CW post something about Supergirl on Instagram or Twitter people really lose their s**t for literally no reason.
People saying that Lena is awful, they wouldn't watch a show with Lena in it, someone went as far to say they would rather die that watch a show with Lena in it??? OK.... Dramatic much? Yet here you are following the Supergirl page and knowing exactly what has been going on in the show because you use it for your arguments. Seriously sort your s**t out!
Also, I may get hate for this and I DO NOT CARE but im totally fine with Lena punching Kara in the face. Personally i think she’s asked for it. You can argue until the end of time that she doesn't deserve the punch for keeping her identity a secret, debatable BUT she absolutely deserves a punch in the face for being an arsehole to Lena and calling her a Luthor and then going to her best friends boyfriend and talking him into betraying her trust! Oh and then letting Lena vent to her about how this meant she would never trust Supergirl again, that was disturbing behavior, played off as an ‘oopsie’ moment. Personally Kara’s Jeckell and Hyde act with Lena has always been a bit disturbing to me, its not always funny. Just like in season 2 when she landed at L Corp with Superman and basically looked her nose down at Lena (re watch it). But a punch in the face is warranted. Punching someone in the face isnt akin to becoming evil!
Also why are people saying ‘I knew she would turn Evil!’ ‘Look what Lena is doing!’ erm... Lena hasnt actually done anything yet. A punch doesn't mean full on evil. Lena said she wants to inflict the same pain on Supergirl that she has caused her, now that’s interesting to me, because Kara hasn't actually inflicted any ‘physical’ pain on Lena and Lena even said she doesn't want to kill Supergirl. Now save for a much deserved punch in the face which looks like it takes place in a virtual world anyway, perhaps Lena is going to go down another route and inflict emotional pain on Kara just like Kara has inflicted it on her. Maybe this is why we saw BTS of Alex and Kara fighting, maybe this world is set up so Kara can experience everyone she loves betraying her in some way? The same way Lena feels she’s been betrayed? Im not saying that’s a healthy way to deal with things but the show would be boring if Lena was like ‘nah its cool’.Plus this is how Lena will see it, something she wouldn't be thinking if Kara had taken the time to explain things to her from the off set. to late now.
Now i know what people will say ‘Kara has suffered so much and doesn't deserve more pain’ yeah... well Kara should have thought about that before inflicting pain on Lena who has also suffered enough pain in her life to. Kara having suffered doesn't mean she has a free pass to treat others poorly, who haven't actually done anything to hurt her or intended to hurt her at all. If Lena had been a nob and out to get her from day one then fair enough, but Lena has saved Kara’s ass/life many times and has never intended to hurt her, but s3 kara (who i wish i could forget) decided being an ass to Lena was OK. Yes Kara thought she was protecting Lena, but that excuse became null and void the moment she started revealing her identity to every Tom, Dick and Nia that she met! Kara is NOT a space puppy! Sure she has her cute adorkable moments but dont mix fan fic with reality. Kara is actually a very serious person who doesnt have all the answers, and doesn't always have a clear view of things. Remember it was Kara who basically told Jonn that there was no more alien hate anymore because SHE didnt receive it, the blonde haired, blue eyed hero of the city who looks human didnt receive hate so therefore it no longer existed. Now this isnt having a go at Kara, its to show that Kara isnt always right and doesn't always have a clear view of things.
Now, people are saying that Kara’s other friends didnt have a bad reaction to Kara admitting she was Supergirl so how dare Lena? OK, you guys are reaching pretty far now and you’re conveniently forgetting what has happened on the show because you’re too busy hating on Lena, so:
1. Winn didnt hate Kara the moment he learned she was Supergirl. OK, well first off, she wasnt really Supergirl yet, just an alien. Winn thought it was cool and wasnt upset she had lied to him? Well Kara keeping her identity from Winn didnt effect Winn in any way at all. There was no Luthor/Super history involved in Winn and Kara’s friendship.
2. James already knew, Clark took that decision away from Kara because he felt she needed a man to keep an eye on her. But this aside, James already knew Superman and was his best friend, he didnt ‘already’ know Kara. He knew who she was before she knew who he was! Again, him knowing her secret had no Luthor/Super implications.
3. Alex already knew and grew up with her. There was no ‘secret’ identity, she came to the Danvers as an alien and anyway Alex was NOT cool with her to begin with.
4. Mon El was also an alien, he wasnt a massive fan of Kara anymore than she was a fan of him. In fact Kara was the ass to Mon El rather than the other way around. It was Kara who referred to him as a ‘Daxamite’ more than once. Now, you could say they did have a history like the Luthor/Super one. Only it was Kryptonian/Daxamite, but the difference is Kara immediately told Mon El who she was, there was no pretending to be an alien from somewhere else or someone entirely different like she did with Lena. Kara knew Mon El was a Daxamite because of the beacon he sent, he didnt deny being one either. No his lie was being the Prince because he knew Kara would NOT have been OK with that. So he got involved with Kara whilst pretending to be something he wasn't. I seem to remember Kara being pretty miffed when she found out he was actually the Prince, only the end of the world was happening and she didnt really get a chance to deal with those feelings because she had to send him away. But later when he came back Kara had had time to process her thoughts on him, but she still told him EXACTLY what she thought of him. Mon El deceived Kara so he could pursue a relationship with her, Kara deceived Lena so she could pursue a friendship with her. Kara and Lena should have a choice in these scenarios because the respective ‘secret identities’ would have made them take pause.
5. Jonn. already knew, nothing to argue here.
6. Nia, Kara told Nia in a moment of solidarity because she to had ‘lost’ her sister, and apparently this was an OK reason to tell the girl you knew for 5 minutes who you are. Do you know who else had ‘lost’ a sibling and Kara has had many a solidarity moment with and who has saved her ass more than once and who she has known for longer than five minutes??? oh yeah LENA!! Anyway.... again, Nia had no reason to be miffed at Kara, she hasnt spent 3 years lying to her or pretending to be someone she wasnt and not fully trusting her. No Luthor/Super family drama or anything.
7. The Legion already knew
8. Cat, Cat was Kara’s mentor and although Kara absolutely lied and deceived Cat, she NEVER treated her crap (save for the red K thing) like Kara did to Lena. Plus once again no Luthor/Super drama. Plus she wasnt Kara's best friend.
Lena is completely different, have a think about what would be going through Lena’s head. ‘Supergirl’ suddenly turns up at her office the moment she arrives in National City in disguise? Supergirl using this secret identity keeps coming back to Lena, using Lena to track down Roulette, to try and get info from her about her mother. Lena mean while keeps saving the lives of the aliens of National City (including Supergirl). Mon El leaves and Kara suddenly cuts Lena from her life until she once again needs her for something? Come season 3 and ‘Supergirl’ suddenly turns on her? All for having a substance she wasn't using to hurt her but to protect her friend Sam? Supergirl calls her a ‘Luthor’ and gets pissed at her for GIVING her the Kryptonite? Supergirl starts telling Lena what to do as though she can? Supergirl then uses Lena’s boyfriend to spy on her? Then suddenly  Kara is back and being her best friend again listening to all her vent about Supergirl? Lena goes out of her way to make sure Argo City survives and Supergirl is still later an ass to her because she decided to work with the substance SHE created because Supergirl doesn't approve? Supergirl is an ass to her when they are with Alex and its Alex who puts her in place, but Kara is still coming back to her as her bestie? Kara Joins her in trying to track down Lex and even lets Lena think that she’s been blown up? Lena then has the pleasure of being told by Lex of all people that Kara has been lying since day one and he even has footage?? Lena’s new ‘family’ all knew except for her, doesn't say much for Kara’s trust in Lena. If she hadnt already dumped James’ ass i hope she would now! She would probably be thinking ‘why did James pursue me? Was he sent told to keep an eye on me? Was Kara just sent by Superman to watch me? Did the gang befriend me for the same reason? Keep the Luthor close? This woman has been betrayed and deceived her whole life, not second guessing any of this would be the bizarre thing.
But anyway, i agree that both Kara and Lena are right to feel the way they do. But i am more on Lena’s side. I get Kara’s reasoning up to a point, to begin with she wanted to protect Lena., but then she should never have become so involved with her if she truly wanted to keep her safe. Her reasons become null and void when she tells people she’s known for 5 minutes who she is without thought to their safety (Nia). She made the decision to be an arsehole to Lena and then use Lena’s relationships against her and called her the only thing she knew would hurt Lena the most. She then kept saying she wanted to tell Lena but allowed others (Mon El, Alex) to keep her from doing so to the point where it was to late. Kara’s reasons started out noble, but they went beyond to far. Especially since Lex and Lillian knew and Kara STILL didnt see a point in telling Lena, Lex got the opportunity to tell Lena because Kara couldn't step up. The moment she knew Lillian knew she should have had Jonn erase her mind or tell Lena herself. Kara doesnt ‘owe’ her identity to anyone, but she should think twice about how much she gets involved with or treats the people close to her that dont know.
Also, it is a betrayal, the writers have said so and even Melissa has agreed she totally understands it. Not telling Lena her secret isnt the betrayal, its everything that came along with it, everything Kara did along the way. (though she could be talking to Eve)
They say the season is a ‘fight for Lena’s soul’ , personally i think being betrayed by Kara is a poor reason for Lena’s soul to be in danger, it doesn't say much for her. But that very statement implies that Lena hasnt gone full Luthor, Otherwise it would be ‘Lena’s soul is lost’.
It will be interesting to see how Lena reacts to the rest of the super friends since back in season 3 she understood secrets that weren't hers to tell and to keep people safe. She knew Alex was DEO but kept it to herself and wasnt arsed abut it and she didnt on Sam to keep her safe. But knowing the writers they’ll forget this part of Lena’s personality and make her miffed at everyone.
Lastly Kara may be the main character but that doesnt mean everything she does is right and she DOESNT have to be your favorite character.
Anyway thats enough. Dont send hate as always will go unanswered and deleted.

Fanfic Writer Ask Game
I was tagged by @dreamsescapeus! Thank you!!
Fandoms You Write For: Supergirl (and any xovers I can imagine), NCIS, Sanctuary, SG-1
Where You Post Fic: AO3 (Under csigurlie07)
Most Popular One-Shot: Most popular is misleading, so to clarify, I sorted by kudos. Course Correction won out.
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: Making Waves! Again by kudos. This makes me happy bc holy shit I love this fic.
Favorite Story You Wrote:  I re-read almost everything I write on a semi-regular basis. Making Waves is a fave, because it’s the first fic that reads like a novel, with layered storylines. I also really like When Lena Met Reign for its adorkable coming together of two lesbians being totally into each other (towards that end Heartbound is also up there, but I hesitate to name it because it’s not complete yet). I like The Day Kara Danvers Died for the intensity of its peril scenes. I dunno-- I love almost everything I write.
Story You Were Nervous to Post:  just because I let you go, doesn't mean i wanted to-- it was a breakup fic, which can be dicey in this fandom, and was a new style for me. Heartbound a little too I think, because as an ace taking on a smut fic can be really daunting, and I wasn't sure how well it would be received.
How Do You Choose Your Titles: I don’t. I pray to the title gods and hope they send me an epiphany.
Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: Continuing Fateful Objection, continuing Heartbound, and my nuclear winter supercorp au that is consuming my brain right now.
I’m going to tag some of the tumblr writers I know off the top of my head: @banrions, @jazzfordshire, @bossbeth, @bigmammallama5, @proudlyunicorn, and @coeurdastronaute!!

THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME CHAPTER 34/38
Rating: Mature
Read at Ao3
Start at the Beginning
Kara turns herself in to the National City Police Department. Maggie does her job. Leslie makes a statement. Miranda Crane is herself. Cat writes an article.
Thanks to @ifourmindbeso for her great work as a beta. Any remaining mistakes are entirely my own.
Chapter 34 -  The Illusion of Truth
National City News Special Report Trevor Paxton Reporting Live From National City Police Headquarters
“For those of you just joining us, I’m standing outside National City Police headquarters where, if rumors are to be believed, National City’s resident superhero Supergirl is being held in connection to a brutal Thanksgiving day attack on former CatCo radio personality Leslie Willis.”
“Motivation for the attack appears to be comments Willis made on air Monday during her show. The comments prompted a tense on-air confrontation when Supergirl showed up at CatCo headquarters in response to the broadcast. During the confrontation, Supergirl accidently outed herself as a lesbian. The incident prompted CatCo to fire Willis, many believe in an attempt to appease the so-called Girl of Steel, but it would appear that Willis losing her job wasn’t enough to satisfy Supergirl, who allegedly broke into Willis’ home around noon yesterday, and beat her so severely she required emergency surgery. Supergirl then turned up at the hospital and kidnapped Willis out of the intensive care unit and disappeared.”
“The real twist here is Supergirl apparently turned herself into authorities at around four o’clock local time this morning, arriving at Police Headquarters in what witnesses describe as a flash of light, along with a woman who matches Leslie Willis’ description.”
“Those close to Supergirl, including CatCo CEO Cat Grant and Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane have maintained that Supergirl did not attack Willis and took Willis from the hospital in order to provide her with lifesaving medical care possible only with the technology Supergirl brought with her from her homeworld. Wayne Enterprises CEO Bruce Wayne and Themiscyra Enterprises CEO Diana Prince, who recently announced a partnership with Supergirl to introduce a cancer vaccine derived from Kryptonian medicine, both issued statements earlier today in support of Supergirl.”
“Maxwell Lord issued a statement saying that this incident proves that Supergirl and Superman represent a danger to all the people of Earth. Lord, as you may recall, is currently under indictment on charges stemming from a bombing attempt that resulted in an explosive going off while Supergirl tried to carry it away from the intended target.”
“At this point, the only people who know the full story are inside Police Headquarters, and all of National City waits with bated breath to find out of Supergirl is a hero, or a villain.”
“Reporting live from National City Police Headquarters, this is Trevor Paxton for National City News.”
Kara let out a sigh as she drummed her fingers on the table. It was getting close to seven o’clock, and she was starting to worry. Maggie hadn’t arrested her when she’d arrived at Police Headquarters. She’s simply lead her to an interview room and asked her to wait while they questioned Leslie. That had been three and a half hours ago. She didn’t understand what was taking so long, unless Leslie had decided that destroying her and Cat was more important than getting back at the man who attacked her.
Even leaving aside the time crunch she was under, Kara was starting to worry about how much damage the delay was doing. She wanted to take out her phone and check the social media feeds, but the interview room was shielded. Her phone would go right through the shielding, but she didn’t want the cops to know that, so she’d ordered Konex to go radio silent unless there was an emergency. That meant she couldn’t talk to the public before she was released, but if something didn’t happen soon, the damage might not be reversible. If public opinion turned against her, the Alien Amnesty Act would be dead in the water, which meant the pardons for Astra and the Fort Rozz prisoners would vanish and J’onn would lose control of the DEO.
“Be ready to move,” Alex said, her voice coming through Kara’s earbud. Before Kara had time to react, the door opened to reveal Maggie and Leslie.
“Come on,” Maggie said.
Kara didn’t argue. She recognized the tone in Maggie’s voice. She’d heard it too many times during the war and it always meant shit was well and truly about to hit the fan. Kara was on her feet and at the door in an instant. Maggie nodded and started leading them through the station.
“Whatever happens, keep going,” Maggie whispered, her words so soft that Kara never would have heard without her super hearing. “When we get outside, there will be a group of reporters waiting. Head straight for them, but don’t say anything, and be ready to protect Leslie.”
They almost made it to the front of the station before anything happened, but not quite.
“Sawyer,” a man yelled. “What the hell are you doing?”
“My job,” Maggie answered, never breaking stride.
“The Captain said to wait,” the man yelled.
“I know,” Maggie said as she pushed the front door open. Kara and Leslie followed her through, and sure enough, there was a veritable mob of reporters waiting for them. Maggie didn’t slow down, even as several cops followed them outside, and Kara never let herself get more than a pace behind, until Maggie stopped, two steps above the nearest reporter.
“Good morning,” she said. “I’m Detective Maggie Sawyer of the National City Police Department Science Division. As you can see, I have Supergirl and Miss Leslie Willis here with me, and I’m pleased to say, the rumors regarding yesterday’s events are all completely unfounded. As you all know, Miss Willis was attacked yesterday in her home. Evidence at the scene led us to believe the attacker might have been Kryptonian, and given Monday’s events, we were forced to consider Supergirl a person of interest in our investigation.”
“Last night, following several hours of surgery, doctors informed Cat Grant, who was acting in her capacity as Miss Willis’ medical proxy, that Miss Willis would very likely not live through the night. Miss Grant was able to get in touch with Supergirl and asked if she could help Miss Willis. Supergirl arrived at the hospital, and Miss Willis was transferred into Supergirl’s care with full permission from Miss Willis’ legally designated medical proxy.”
“Supergirl took Miss Willis to her home where she has access to Kryptonian medical equipment capable of treating Miss Willis’ wounds. Once Miss Willis was awake and well enough to travel, Supergirl brought her here and Miss Willis was able to provide us with enough information that we could positively identify her assailant.”
“At the direct request of the Federal Agency currently involved in the investigation, we are not releasing the suspect’s name at this time. What I can tell you is that the suspect is a known anti-alien extremist responsible for the deaths of at least ten Federal Agents, a civilian contractor, and at least eighty-five aliens. Federal authorities believe, and the National City Police Department concurs, that the attack on Miss Willis was a carefully planned action designed to discredit Supergirl and undermine support for the Alien Amnesty Act.”
“Finally, in order to dispel any allegations that Miss Willis statement was given under duress, or as some have claimed, is the result of mind control, the Federal Agency involved has eye witness testimony and video footage which confirm that Supergirl was attending a holiday dinner ten miles away from Miss Willis apartment at the time of the attack. The names of the witnesses, as well as the video footage, will not be released to the public due to concerns that those witnesses might be targeted by the same person responsible for the attack on Miss Willis.”
“I am not taking any questions at this time, but Miss Willis has asked for the chance to make a public statement.” Maggie stepped back, and almost as if they had rehearsed it, Leslie stepped forward.
“I gotta say, I’m absolutely freaking insulted that you people honestly thought Little Miss Sunshine here took me down. Seriously people, what the hell? I mean, I still think the adorkable thing is a load of crap, and don’t get me started on the fashion disaster that is her suit. Hell, I can’t stand her, but even I know she’d never do something this colossally stupid. Much as it pains me to admit it, Blondie saved my life. So, this is me, saying thank you to her. And to the son of a bitch who tried to kill me yesterday, let me just say, choke on it, asshole.”
The reporters started shouting questions at Leslie and Maggie both, but Maggie just reached up, taking Leslie by the arm and steering her towards a black Suburban that was parked at the end of the line of news vans. Kara started to follow, but Alex’s voice coming through her ear bud changed her plans.
“Get out of there, Supergirl,” Alex said.
Kara didn’t question it. She just kicked off lightly, drifting up into the air, then shot up, breaking the cloud layer.
“What the hell’s going on?” she asked.
“Not now,” Alex said. “I’ll fill you in as soon as possible.”
“Okay,” Kara said.
“Supergirl, this is President Marsdin. Can you hear me?”
“Yes,” Kara said, wondering why the hell Marsdin was on the DEO channel.
“Do you have a plan for dealing with the situation at CatCo?” Marsdin asked.
“I think so,” Kara said. “Unless something has changed in the last few hours.”
“A lot has changed in the last few hours,” Marsdin said. “Agent Danvers will brief you as soon as possible, but right now, I need you focused on making sure Cat keeps her job. Pull out all the stops.”
Kara frowned as she dropped back down through the cloud layer and landed on the roof of the CatCo building. She really wanted to know what the hell was going on, but everyone was avoiding giving her details. They were probably worried about security, which made sense, but she didn’t like it at all.
“I’m at CatCo now,” Kara said. “I have a nuclear option, if necessary, but there’s a lot of potential for blowback.”
“What kind of blowback?” Marsdin asked.
“The kind that involves a lot of people asking how Cat Grant’s assistant has enough money to buy a Media Conglomerate with a Market Cap of eighty billion dollars.”
There was silence on the line for a few seconds, before Marsdin responded. “Do I want to know where you got that much money?”
“I may have given a tier three artificial intelligence my E-Trade password over a decade ago,” Kara said.
“Oh, for fuck’s sake,” Marsdin said. “Is that even legal?”
“Well, it’s not *illegal*,” Kara said. “Technically, it counts as an Automated Trading System. It’s just a really advanced one.”
“How much money do you have?” Marsdin asked. “No, wait. If I don’t know, I won’t have to lie to congress about it. Go nuclear. We’ll worry about any blowback later.”
“Understood,” Kara said. “Supergirl out.”
Kara checked to make sure the blinds in her office were closed, then stepped inside and used super-speed to change into her work clothes and switch her hair back to auburn. Once she was changed, she sat down at her desk, fired up her computer then sat her phone on the desk bringing up the holographic interface. Once the computer was up and running, she slaved it to the phone and connected to Konex.
“Konex, you there?” she asked.
“Yes, Lady Kara,” Konex answered.
“I need a status on acquisition plan zero,” Kara said.
“We currently hold fifty-seven percent of CatCo shares, spread across three hundred and twenty-one different holding companies.”
“Perfect,” Kara said. “How long to consolidate stock holdings?”
“Thirty minutes,” Konex said.
“Begin,” Kara said. “Estimated money necessary for Tender Offer?”
“At current market value plus ten percent, thirty-eight billion dollars.”
Kara looked at the current net worth of the accounts that had been built up for her over the last seventeen years, checking the numbers in her head before she finally gave the order. “Initiate the Tender Offer and execute the Blindside protocol,” Kara said.
“Yes, Lady Kara,’ Konex replied.
Kara sat back and took a deep breath. She’d planned for this moment for a long time. She just expected it to be after the Earthquake, during Dirk Armstrong’s takeover attempt. Doing it now was a problem. It meant she wasn’t going to hear about Adam from Cat, so explaining how she knew about him was going to be tough. Of course, if Cat ever found out about the binder in her desk drawer, that wouldn’t matter, because she’d be too busy filing a restraining order to care.
What Kara didn’t understand was what was happening. The board’s attempt to oust Cat didn’t surprise her. It had Armstrong’s fingerprints all over it. But Marsdin’s insistence on making sure Cat stayed in place was strange. She knew that Cat and CatCo had both been huge supporters of Marsdin during her first campaign, and that Marsdin had built her case for the Alien Amnesty act on the back of CatCo Magazine’s Supergirl issue. That meant Cat getting booted from CatCo might hit Olivia’s re-election campaign hard, but this seemed more immediate.
Kara ran a quick search including Cat and Olivia’s names. The first article to pop up hit Kara like Darkseid’s Omega Beams.
The Metropolis Star Online Friday November 27th, 2015 President Marsdin is responsible for the attack on Leslie Willis. By Guest Contributor Miranda Crane.
When I was a little girl, the idea that aliens might visit Earth was the thing of science fiction. No one knew for sure if aliens existed. Little did we realize that even then, there were aliens hiding among us, studying us. Aliens that run the gamut from hideous monsters, to creatures who can invade our very minds. Some of these aliens are so powerful that people might look at them and consider them gods.
It was one such alien who made their presence among us known. A little over fourteen years ago, Superman caught a plane falling out of the skies over Metropolis. At the time, it seemed like a miracle. Then, just three days later, he told Lois Lane that he was from another planet. That humans weren’t alone in the universe. Many hailed this as another miracle, unable to understand the cost that would be extracted over the next decade and a half.
In the time Superman has been flying through the skies of Metropolis, that city has seen an unending stream of monsters and aliens rain down death and destruction. And this is not limited to Metropolis. Look at the damage to Coast City, Baltimore, Detroit, Portland and Los Angeles when aliens go up against the Green Lanterns who operate out of those cities. Other cities have been plagued as well. Dakota City, Seattle, New York, Atlanta, Gotham, Gateway City, Hub City. The list goes on and on.
Nowhere is safe from this rain of monsters, falling from the stars. Monsters who arrive unwanted and uninvited, who cling to the dark edges of society, and bring crime, death and destruction everywhere they go. We have more than a decade of experience that where aliens go, they carry trouble with them, yet some claim that these invaders are nothing more than refugees. Poor souls washed up on our shores, wanting only a safe place to live.
President Olivia Marsdin has long been a vocal peddler of this lie. She ignores the fights which leave cities devastated and our brothers and sisters dead in the streets. Instead she talks of amnesty for aliens. She talks of forgiving them for invading, of offering them citizenship, and allowing them free and unfettered access to our cities, our places of work, or schools.
And then, just a few weeks ago, like history repeating itself, a plane fell out of the sky, and an alien caught it. This time, instead of looking like a young man, this alien looked like a young woman, but she wore that same symbol on her chest. The one they both claim is a symbol of home and unity, but has come to represent death and destruction.
Cat Grant, often referred to as the Queen of All Media, chose to throw away reason to embrace this alien. She named her, called her “Supergirl”, and peddled a sob story about a child, cast into space to protect her infant cousin, only to get lost along the way. Cat Grant held up “Supergirl” as someone who only wanted to help, and to pay back the supposed sacrifices of others.
Cat Grant sold that story so well that President Marsdin was drawn in. Not that it would have been a hard sell, given Grant and Marsdin were roommates in college, and given Marsdin’s known love of “Supergirl’s” cousin. So taken in was Marsdin that she twisted arms and burned political capital she could ill afford to force through her Alien Amnesty act in order to grant pardons to people who were known criminals on “Supergirl’s” own planet. Many of them not just criminals but known terrorists.
And when one soul had the courage to call “Supergirl” out, to name her for the fake she is, what happened? Cat Grant fired Leslie Willis to appease “Supergirl”, but that wasn’t enough. Oh, no. “Supergirl” attacked Willis in her own home, and when it turned out Willis survived the attack, “Supergirl” walked into the very hospital when Willis was receiving treatment, and kidnapped the woman, carrying her off to who knows what fate.
Some might lay the blame for this horrible act on “Supergirl”, and indeed, she does bear the lion’s share of the blame. But I say the blame doesn’t end there. If Marsdin weren’t welcoming these monsters with open arms, this might not have happened. If Marsdin had locked “Supergirl” away as the criminal invader that she is, Leslie Willis might never have been attacked.
And what if Willis is alive? What then? It’s possible she will turn up alive and well and pointing the finger squarely in some direction other than “Supergirl”. But if that does happen, can we ever trust her word? “Supergirl”, by her own admission has access to technology that can load information directly into someone’s mind. How can we ever be sure that any story Willis tells, if she is even alive, will be the truth, and not what “Supergirl” twisted her mind into believing?
Enough is enough. President Marsdin is a traitor who colludes with invaders and Cat Grant is her willing accomplice. We may see some small measure of justice this morning. The CatCo board of directors is holding an emergency meeting, and word is, they are going to remove Cat Grant, that they are going to silence the voice of one of these traitors. It’s a good start, but not enough. I say it’s time and past time to impeach Marsdin, to strip her of the office she has desecrated and try her for her treasonous actions.
Kara sat there for a moment, feeling herself shaking with anger. The time stamp on the article meant it had been published just a few minutes after she and Leslie had arrived at NCPD headquarters. It may have had Miranda Crane’s name on it, but it positively reeked of Lilian Luthor, and the most infuriating thing was the way it cast doubt on Leslie’s statement. There would never be a way for her to completely refute the idea that she’d tampered with Leslie’s mind. People would always wonder.
She glanced at the clock. Two hours and fifteen minutes. She sat an alarm to give her time to get to the board room.
“Konex,” she said.
“Yes, Lady Kara.”
“Do we have sufficient funds to execute Acquisition plans one through five?” Kara asked.
“Affirmative,” Konex said. “However, if executed, we will not have sufficient capital for acquisition plans six, seven and nine for at least eighteen months. Also be advised, under current anti-trust regulations, plan five and plan eight are mutually exclusive options and odds of FTC approval for plan ten without extra-legal incentive is below two percent if plans one through three have already been carried out.”
“Understood. Execute one through five. Prioritize progress on seven and nine. Liquidate all stocks associated with eight and ten in a manner which maximize return, then reinvest profits to accelerate progress on six, seven and nine.”
“Yes, Lady Kara.”
Kara picked up her phone and dialed Lucy’s number.
“Hey, Kara,” Lucy said when she picked up.
“Hey, Lucy,” Kara said. “You busy at the moment?”
“Very,” she said. “Why?”
“I need some legal paperwork done about an hour from now, and as I recall, you are licensed to practice in California.”
“I am,” Lucy said, “but right now, I’m knee-deep in writing provisional pardons for the President to sign. I have to have them done, and an executive order drafted in less than four hours.”
“Damn,” Kara muttered. “Okay. Good luck. I have to go.”
“Good luck yourself, Kara. See you soon.”
Kara ended the call and sent Kaldur’ahm a text message.
Kara: Are you still with Cat?
Kaldur’ahm: Yes. We’re in a secure location.
Kara: I need Cat here, now.
Kaldur’ahm: We’re at least forty minutes away.
Kara: Your phone has a transmat beacon. Tell Konex to send you to my office.
Kaldur’ahm: One moment.
It took about two minutes before the room lit up with the flash of a transmat, but once the flash died away, Cat and Kaldur’ahm stood in front of her desk. Kara stood up and walked around the desk, slipping her arms around Cat and hugging her as tightly as she dared. She was a little surprised when Cat hugged her back.
“Thank you,” Cat said.
“You’re welcome,” Kara said. She let go and stepped back. "Jackson, can you do a coffee run?”
“Of course,” he said. “Breakfast as well?”
“Please,” Kara said. She waited as he left, then turned back to Cat. “I’m almost afraid to ask, but are we going to go back to pretending today?”
“No,” Cat said firmly. “I don’t think I could if I wanted to.”
“You could,” Kara said, “but I’m really glad you don’t want to.”
“I’m sorry,” Cat said.
“For what?” Kara asked.
“For not being able to protect you,” Cat said. “I tried, but the board smells blood, and they will burn everything you’ve built to the ground to get rid of me. Doesn’t matter how much it will hurt them in the long run.”
“Cat,” Kara said, “I’ve known this fight was coming since the day I started here. I’m prepared for it. The same way I prepared for the Tribune layoffs. The question is, do you trust me?”
“Yes,” Cat answered, without a moment’s hesitation.
“Do you have a lawyer you can trust? One who’s good with corporate law, but doesn’t work for CatCo?”
Cat nodded. “Of course.”
“Good. Call them, tell them to get here as fast as possible. Then, I need your help with something.”
“With what?” Cat asked.
“Miranda Crane,” Kara said, and watched as Cat’s eyes lit up.
“Oh, that I can do,” Cat said, voice dripping with malicious glee.

@livewire You only think that because you don’t speak Kryptonian. #ourcursesarebetter
From Facebook Supergirl Zor-El Friday, November 27th, 2015
This has been an odd week for me. In the last five days, I accidently outed myself to the world, I’ve been accused of orchestrating a conspiracy against Maxwell Lord, I’ve been accused of violating Leslie Willis’ right to freedom of speech, then I saved her life, only to be accused of attempting to murder her, kidnapping her and then brainwashing her. And that’s just the stuff I can talk about in public.
I admit, I prefer the weeks where I get to rescue puppies, go to parties, and dance with pretty girls. Sometimes, doing the right thing is hard, and thankless. Sometimes, when you do the right thing, you make enemies of small, selfish people. Sometimes, you don’t even have to be doing the right thing. Sometimes, existing is enough.
Don’t misunderstand. I love being Supergirl. I love this city. I look out at it sometimes and am overwhelmed with wonder. Every light that shines through every window tells a story. A family playing board games. Two girlfriends having a candle lit dinner. A girl doing her homework. A boy drawing in his sketchbook. A mother nursing her newborn. A father reading a bedtime story. And every time I help one of you, a bit of your light becomes a part of me, and it helps fill that hole that Krypton left inside.
I love it, but on days like today, the weight of it sits heavy on my shoulders.
Growing up, I always knew, even before Kal-El was born, that as a daughter of the cadet branch of the House of El, I would not inherit the responsibility to lead it. I had simple dreams. I dreamed of family, of a life in the Science Guild, learning the wonders of the universe. My Aunt’s stories of her life in the military were exciting, but I never wanted to be a soldier or a warrior. I wanted to live, to hold my children in my arms, and perhaps, if I were lucky, to help discover some new truth about the universe.
The day Krypton died, I became the Head of the House of El. I was of age, and my cousin wasn’t. I felt the weight of ten thousand years of tradition, and an unimaginable burden of responsibility settle on my shoulders. The greatest, and most immediate of those responsibilities, I failed to meet when my ship was knocked off course causing me to arrive here twenty-four years late. I woke from my journey only to find that Kal-El was grown. But the discharge of that duty changed little. It is still my duty to make this world a better place. It is still my duty to protect my House and my Family. It is still my duty to protect the memory and heritage of Krypton.
I do not carry those responsibilities grudgingly, but proudly. I have worked hard, even before my public appearance a few weeks ago, to achieve those ends. They give me a purpose and a goal. They give me hope that Rao had a reason for including me among those who were spared when my world ended.
But there are those who hate me, for no other crime than existing. Those who fear me, fear my family, fear my fellow refugees, for no other reason than we are different. It is bigotry, and it is exhausting. It comes closer to draining me of hope than any task laid in front of me.
When Leslie spoke on Monday, when I heard her hurtful words, I reacted in anger. Not because I had any particular care for her opinion of me, but her words turned me into a weapon for bigots to use to beat down those like me. Having lost so much to hate and bigotry in my life, I could not let anyone do that.
And now, someone else is trying it.
I know who attacked Leslie Willis. I cannot give his name, because I have been asked by law enforcement not to, but I can tell you I have met him before, and he has taken from me before. The first time was ten years ago. He came for me, but someone else sacrificed themselves and went in my place. He’s a vile man, full of hate and bigotry, disgusted by anything different. He is small, weak, and full of fear. He is a coward and a murderer, and even ten years ago, he was a pathetic excuse for a man.
Even more pathetic is his motive for attacking Leslie Willis.
In the weeks since I caught that plane falling out of the sky, I have traded on my new-found fame and on the reflected glory of my cousin to work towards helping people like me. Refugees, washed ashore on this world. People who live among you but are held apart and treated as less. I have played to the press, sold my memories, used my private moments to buy sympathy and compassion for my fellow aliens. I have offered cures for disease in exchange for tolerance, and other technology in a bid to secure our rights and freedom.
Some would call this cynical and manipulative and they might be right, but what choice do I have? What choice did you give me? I arrived here, and I had to be hidden away behind forged documents and a false identity. When I was discovered, the only thing that kept me from a dissection table was a good man trading his life for mine. Another good man, an alien like myself, has spent a decade risking his life every day to make sure the protection that was bought at so dear a cost held until I could defend myself.
When I could no longer hide, no longer work from the shadows, I chose to stand so tall, to speak so loudly, that everyone would have to listen and take note.
But the man who attacked Leslie Willis is a coward. He was a coward ten years ago when he tried to drag a scared, frightened little girl from the home she’d only just found. Because he is still a coward, he chose to attack me with fear, lies and deception. He tried to kill Leslie Willis and lay the blame on me, in an attempt to poison everything I have worked for.
He is a coward, and he is being cheered on by other cowards. Cowards like Miranda Crane and Maxwell Lord. Cowards who would throw thousands of innocent lives on the fire for no other crime save an accident of birth.
I hope and I believe they are the minority. A small number, whose voices are made loud by the strength of their fear, hate and greed, and by the depths of their pockets. I chose to believe that the people of Earth are better than that. I chose to believe that the people of Earth are filled with the love and compassion I have been shown so many times since I arrived here. I chose to believe that the people of Earth are worth all the help I have offered and hope to offer them in the future.
Now, it’s time for you to decide.
Do you believe I attacked Leslie Willis? If I attacked her, what sense would it make for me to save her life? If I attacked her, why has she identified someone else to the police as her attacker?
Which is more likely? The scenario that Miranda Crane and Maxwell Lord, both known for their public hatred of aliens, have spun in the media? Or that the attack on Leslie Willis was an attempt to discredit me and turn public opinion against me and my fellow aliens?
I have faith that all of you will find that you already know the truth.
CatCo.com Friday November 27th, 2015 The Mistakes I’ve Made By Cat Grant
What you are about to read may be the last thing I ever write for the company which bears my name. If that sounds like a dramatic way to start an article, well, I’ve never claimed modesty to be among my virtues, but it is no less than the truth. In less than two hours from the time I begin this article, I will walk into the boardroom, and I may very well be removed as CEO. I can’t say the decision would be entirely unjustified.
Given that, I want to take this chance to do something I rarely do. I would like to apologize, publicly, and without reservation, for a chain of mistakes I’ve made that lead up to this point.
The story begins with a plane falling out of the sky on a dark, stormy night. Unlike other such disasters, this one did not end in tragedy. Instead, a figure rose up out of the darkness and caught the plane, carrying it to safety. That night was fourteen years ago, and that figure would come to be known as Superman.
That same night, fourteen years ago, a reporter was grabbed off the streets and stabbed in the stomach by a police officer. She survived and walked fourteen city blocks through one of the worst storms in National City’s history, to collapse in the Emergency Room of National City Memorial. After thirteen hours in surgery, and four weeks in intensive care fighting off sepsis, that reporter would write an exposé that would bring down a congressman, a Deputy Mayor, and hundreds of policemen and mobsters across four cities. It would also fuel the growth of her small media company into the powerhouse that CatCo Worldwide Media would become.
I was that reporter, and that was one of the worst years of my life. I saw a story that had nearly killed me passed over for Lois Lane’s puff piece on the public arrival of Superman. I found my husband cheating on me when I went home early to give him the news that I was pregnant. And one of my best friends was killed covering the war in Afghanistan. I was hurt, bitter and disillusioned. All of my dreams of turning CatCo into a household name were coming true, and they tasted like ash in my mouth.
That’s when I met Leslie Willis. I bought out a small radio station in Nevada. I had never listened to it and didn’t care to. I only wanted a broadcast license for the CatCo radio network that included Las Vegas. The only reason I bothered to meet with Leslie at all is because the station manager begged me to give her a chance instead of firing all the local talent outright. So, I sat down and listened to tapes of her show, and despite myself, I was impressed. Then I met her face to face, and I realized how much talent and untapped potential there was. I saw a younger version of myself, just starting out, with the world in front of her.
That’s when I made my first mistake with Leslie. I saw so much potential there, and the small part of me that still believed in making the world a better place wanted to nurture it, to be her mentor. She’d have done better if I hadn’t. Leslie needed a mentor, someone to put her on the path to greatness, but I was the wrong choice. I was too wrapped up in myself and my own pain to do what was right for her. I taught her all the wrong things, and as long as she brought in the ratings, I rewarded her and protected her from the consequences of her own actions.
Somewhere along the line, I realized I’d made a mistake. I realized I’d nurtured all the wrong things in Leslie. I’d let her become mean and cruel, and all the things I hated when I looked in the mirror and saw them in myself. I saw it, but I had no idea how to fix it, and I made my second mistake. I ignored it, and I ignored her, because she reminded me of my failure.
Then, history decided to repeat itself. One dark night, a plane fell out of the sky, and a lone figure rose up to catch it, and in the aftermath, I found a brilliant young girl, full of promise, standing before me. But this girl was different. This girl wanted my help, but she demanded better. She demanded I live up to my potential. She held me to a higher standard. One I should have held myself to.
And I failed her. I failed her because I let my mistakes with Leslie splash onto her. I let my mistakes put everything she is working to accomplish at risk.
This is an apology to them both. I am apologizing to Leslie for all the times I failed to help her become the amazing person she should have been, and I am apologizing to Supergirl because my mistakes gave her enemies a chance to drag her name through the dirt.
But I want to set the record straight. Contrary to what Miranda Crane and Maxwell Lord have claimed, Supergirl did not attack Leslie Willis. She only found out about Leslie’s injuries when I called her, and she only took Leslie from the hospital on my request as Leslie’s medical proxy. Supergirl has done nothing but help, and Crane and Lord’s attempts to use this vicious attack to try to destroy her says far more about their character than hers.
Maxwell Lord’s reasons for attacking Supergirl are obvious. Aside from being scared of aliens, Supergirl’s actions brought to light Lord’s long history of criminal behavior. His attempts to discredit Supergirl are the actions of a desperate man trying to save himself from a life sentence he richly deserves. Both the National City Tribune and the Daily Planet have posted numerous articles this past week detailing Lord’s corruption and disregard for human life.
As for Miranda Crane, her motivations are every bit as self-serving. Her anti-alien stance is well known, and dripping with the rhetoric of bigotry and fear. But that’s just the surface. Crane has long been an opponent of President Marsdin, and sought to undermine her at every step, and it’s commonly believed Crane is intending to run for President next year. If that’s the case though, there is one dirty little skeleton in her closet that destroying Supergirl’s reputation would help deal with nicely. Her long association with Lex Luthor which included gifts and contributions to both her campaign, and a super pac which supported her. Senator Crane has similar relationships with both Maxwell Lord and Simon Tycho, which could prove every bit as embarrassing if the current allegations against them result in convictions. Allegations supported by mountains of evidence, which could very well be thrown out if Supergirl’s reputation was destroyed.
As this article clearly illustrates, I am not above making mistakes, but my faith in Supergirl isn’t one of them. I look at her, and the words she’s chosen to love by, “Hope, help and compassion for all,” and I want to believe she means them, and so far, Supergirl has given me no reason to doubt means those words. Then I look at the words Miranda Crane uses. She says she believes Supergirl, a woman who has done nothing but help, is a “vicious animal” and a “violent, perverted monster,” and so far, Senator Crane has given me no reason to doubt that she believes those words.
Supergirl has shown time and again how far she will go to help make the world a better place. She exposed herself, shared her past, her pain, her grief, her culture and technology, and all she has asked in return is for her and those like her to have the right to exist.
Ask yourself how far Miranda Crane is willing to go in support of what she believes, and then decide which of them is telling the truth.
“Cat, are you sure you want to publish this?” Kara asked.
“Is there something wrong with it?” Cat asked, her usual bravado in place, though Kara could tell it was paper thin, just by the slight quiver in her voice that anyone without super-hearing would never have noticed.
“No. It’s wonderful. It’s just… It’s very personal, and I know how private you are.”
“And what you wrote wasn’t personal?” Cat asked. “I know you blame yourself for what happened, but if anyone here is to blame, it’s me. I made Leslie what she was. I created the conflict in the first place. And if you are going to lay yourself bare to fix it, how can I do any less?”
Kara stared at Cat, completely floored. She’d known how much potential for goodness there was from experience. She had loved Cat, almost from the moment they met, but so much of that were the tiny peeks of goodness and compassion she’d seen lurking under the prickly exterior. She’d worked so hard the first time around to bring that out of Cat, but this time around, it was almost effortless, and she wasn’t sure what the difference was. But the woman across from her was *her* Cat. The one she’d been friends with, right up until the end.
“Okay,” Kara said. “Okay. Post it, and let’s go save your company.”
Cat smiled at her and reached for the mouse.

Supercorp Prompt Fill
@mrsluthordanvers challenged: ‘write a Supercorp fic including both “I had the strangest dream. You were flying and you were carrying me,“ and “It must be hard to beg on your knees in that short skirt” ‘
Summary: After Lena has a vivid dream of flying in Kara’s arms she is almost certain her best friend (and crush) is the Girl of Steel. She’ll have to use her smarts to prove it the only way she knows how: with science and seduction. (Also on fanfiction if you want to review).
The Scientific Method
“I had the strangest dream.”
It had been several days since the latest attempt on Lena’s life had been thwarted. While many things had happened since then- her mother going to prison, Edge going to prison, Sam confessing to them- a few things stuck out to her more:
One, whatever she thought she might have with James… that was over. Well, they really hadn’t even begun but still. There were just too many things against them, their past with Lex and Clark, their current employment status, the fact that James hated her up until a few months ago…but most of all, their chemistry was just…non-existent. Yes, he was handsome, and smart and sweet but she just didn’t feel that raw attraction. Or any for that matter. She just liked the idea of someone to hold her and he had nice arms.
Which led her to point two.
“You were flying and you were carrying me.”
Kara Danvers. And her arms. Her best friend. Yes she realized long ago that she was attracted to her- who wouldn’t be? But she understood that Kara was straight and just because she was bisexual didn’t mean she couldn’t control herself. She would not set herself up just to get let down, especially if it put their friendship at risk. She nipped that crush in the bud as soon as the idea had formed, of course. But one thing she hadn’t realized, at least at first, were the many similarities her friend had with the notorious Girl of Steel. And she could not shake that dream. It had felt so real. Being in Kara’s arms, flying above the city…it was ludicrous. Unless it wasn’t. “What?! Like Supergirl?! Pssh- I wish!”
One of the things Lena loved about Kara was how expressive her face was. She had tells that Lena had observed and archived, her reddened cheeks when she was embarrassed, her stuttering when she was lying, the crinkle (okay so maybe she was in denial about the whole not-being-into-her-best-friend thing). And Kara was clearly uncomfortable when Lena brought up her post-poisoning dream.
The inability to write-off the encounter had Lena’s Luthor brain on overdrive and she was going through all the encounters between her and Kara and Supergirl and all the evidence kept leading in one direction. But she couldn’t be certain. She needed to go back to the basics: the Scientific Method. She needed to ask questions, do research, run experiments and analyze her data. She didn’t become the CEO of L-Corp just because of her last name, no. If Kara was Supergirl she just had to pay enough attention to see the truth, then she’d ask Kara about it.
So, while Lena should have been working on L-Corp’s quarterly budget report or Catco’s coverage on Morgan’s arrest, she instead chose to break out a fresh composition notebook to jot down her thoughts.
First, questions.
Is Kara Supergirl?
She thought about anything that might lead to this being the case, one of the biggest clues was that she had met Kara while she was with Clark. Clark knew Lena knew his real identity but they had never discussed it in person. As much as Lex hated him they were friends first. Lena liked to think that even if Kal-El never admitted it, he was thankful for Lena’s discretion. However, Kara’s proximity to him didn’t really prove she was National City’s hero, especially since they were both reporters. It could be easily written off as mere coincidence. She also distinctly remembered Kara using the phrase ‘I flew here…on a bus,’ as well. Not really a normal idiom and she thought it strange at the time but as she got to know Kara she learned she was always quirky and adorkable with her phrasing.
Or…maybe that was part of the whole ‘I grew up on an alien planet and english is my second language’ cultural displacement Supergirl could certainly have, no matter how many years she had been on Earth.
Next, their similarity in physical appearance. Same hair color, around the same height…did they both have blue eyes? She couldn’t be sure. Yes she knew the ins and outs of Kara pretty well (really well), but Supergirl? Whenever the hero was around the situation was usually either life or death, and on top of that the girl was constantly moving- sometimes at the speed of light- yes she had a presence one could not help but be enraptured by but she never got close for long enough to really look at her. Except for when she had carried Lena in her arms.
Just like in Lena’s dream about Kara.
With an annoyed huff Lena put her pen down and stretched out her hand. Looking at her watch she realized she had been at this for two and a half hours and she hadn’t thought of anything concrete.
She needed to move on to step two: collecting data.
Now that she had the idea that Kara and Supergirl were one and the same she couldn’t help but think about it anytime she was around the reporter and she stepped up her observation. It really didn’t help with trying to suppress her tiny- baby- crush on her best friend.
She needed to gather real, hard, evidence if she was going to confront Kara about it, though, speculative questions weren’t going to do it. Experiment one involved Kara coming to L-corp for their scheduled Wednesday lunch. She decided to play it safe and it wasn’t out of the ordinary that they ate at Catco or L-corp when they were too busy to try the newest hipster cafe or hole-in-the-wall restaurant.
The knock on the door made Lena’s mouth twitch into a smile before she signaled the other girl to come in. No matter how many times she had been there, how many times she told Jess to show her in whenever, Kara always politely knocked first.
“Okay, okay I know we always do Chinese when we stay in b-” Kara stopped on the spot when she saw Lena hunched over her desk, her speech and mobility rendered utterly utterly useless by the picture in front of her. It was a familiar sight except for the bright red horn-rimmed glasses perched on the bridge of the CEO’s nose. Her flabbergasted expression only got worse with a literal jaw drop when Lena finally looked up at her.
The raven haired girl tried hard to suppress a smirk as she put her game face on.
“What was that, love?”
It took a couple more seconds for Kara to recover before she sputtered out,“ Thailand.” She shook her head,“ I- I -I mean Tom Yam Goong. I mean, I got Thai, I know it’s one of your favorites.”
Lena stood up and rounded her desk to take the bag from her hand and give her a hug (they both may have lingered longer than platonically necessary) before they moved to their respective spots on the couch.
“I umm…when did you get glasses?”
“Oh these are old but I accidentally dropped one of my last contacts down the sink this morning and the replacements aren’t available until tomorrow.”
“Oh they umm…they look good.”
“Are you sure, because you’re staring at me like I’m a completely different person. They’re just glasses Kar,” she said matter-of-factly.
Kara’s eyes widened slightly before she cleared her throat and started hastily unwrapping the boxes.,“ R-right yeah, well I’m just not used to them. ”
Oh Lena was seriously enjoying this.
“I guess that’s true, I mean, I’ve never seen you without yours, after all.”
“Mmhmm.” Her lips were tight together.
“Do you want to trade?”
“I mean you know I want a bite of yours but they accidentally put cilantro on mine and I know you’re super allergic,” she tried to deflect.
“No, I meant glasses, I want to see how blind you are. I bet I’m worse.”
“O-oh umm, okay,” Kara agreed, unable to think of an excuse fast enough to say no without looking suspicious. Lena worried her bottom lip as Kara took off her glasses and handed them to her and Lena did the same before putting hers on. Honestly, she was just as blind with them off as with them on, almost like they didn’t have a prescription.
Interesting.
“Wow Lee, you really are blind.”
“Yeah…your prescription must not be that strong, I can barely see you with these.” She was only maybe two feet away but she couldn’t make out the details of her face very well, which kinda put a damper on her plan to compare her to Supergirl which she definitely should have thought of.
Well. Apparently even black-haired, genius IQ level, 3 PhD obtaining, Ivy League graduate Lena Luthor had her blonde moments.
“They’re not…the prescription is really low in both.”
“Then why did you say you’re dependent on them?” she asked as they switched back.
“Because I am. I mean, not in the traditional sense but…to be honest I have a lot of anxiety. I used to get panic attacks. I have since I lost my parents when I was 13. Alex, Eliza and Jeremiah were amazing but being adopted… as you know it’s hard for any kid. And I was alone for a long time before they took me in. Jeremiah gave me the glasses, I hadn’t realized how much I was struggling until they all showed me kindness. Since then, they’ve been a sort of…security blanket.”
“Kara…” Lena trailed before grabbing her hand and pulling her in,“ Come here,” she said, hugging her tightly,“ Thank you for sharing with me.”
“Of course, I trust you, Lena. I want you to know that.”
“I know, I trust you too.” The way she said it made Kara’s chest ache, in a good and guilt ridden way.
They pulled apart and the blonde pulled down her glasses to wipe away a single tear, before she was smiling again,“ Now speaking of sharing, pass me some of that soup.”
The next few attempts were sort of a bust, she tried hard to get her glasses off again or her hair down but something always seemed to get in the way or Kara had some line queued up. Her next idea, though it took a little time, was…unorthodox. That is, she had to wait until Kara wore a pale shirt again (of course it was another button down). And oh god, she really hoped she was right about this because if not, she had to find some way to live with how borderline creepy this was. She hoped Kara could forgive her.
They were hanging out at Lena’s apartment watching the Bachelor when Lena got up to get more wine,“ You want anymore?” she asked, slurring more than a little bit. They had already polished off one bottle. Besides, she was not going through with this plan sober.
“Yes please!” Kara said as she snuck a few swigs of the alien liquor she had hidden in a flask in her purse. J'onn and Alex agreed they could handle anything for the night and they’ve had a streak of quiet days, she figured it would be alright to relax a little.
“White okay?”
“Perfect!” Lena poured the glasses and took a deep breath before walking back over to the couch and very subtly, very carefully…spilled the entire contents of her fourth glass of wine down Kara’s shirt.
“Oh shit, Kara I’m so so sorry,” she started.
“It’s okay, Lee, really.” Flustered, Kara started dabbing the shirt with her hands (instead of a towel for some reason) and it really did the opposite of helping.
Lena grabbed a towel and tried to help her with her ruined blouse but it obviously wasn’t doing anything either, all according to plan.
Lena anticipated being able to see through the wet shirt enough to where her suit would be if it were there. She also anticipated that if the suit wasn’t there she could probably see through Kara’s shirt through to her bra. She was prepared to respectfully avert her gaze for that. What she didn’t anticipate was that her shy best friend would start unbuttoning her blouse right there on her couch to reveal her also surprising thin lace white bra.
Which was also wet.
“Uh, Kara, I uh…I can see…” Lena said as she continued to stare at her friends rapidly exposed chest and hardened nipples.
“What? I- oh,” she looked at Lena then down at her chest then at Lena again who was still staring. It was all very 'Old Spice’ commercial and Kara wasn’t even making an attempt at covering herself up. They both felt the shift.
Raw. Heated. Exposed. Daring each other with their eyes for the other to make a move- to do anything.
Then their phones chimed, at the same time. They held the stare for a split second longer before Lena checked her phone.
“It’s Sam, she uh, wants to talk to one or both of us. Or Alex.”
“Well…I, I don’t know about you but IIIII am tipsy,” Kara said, exasperated.
“M-me too.” Lena took a deep, steadying breath, her heart still hammering in her chest,“ I don’t think Sam or…anyone…for that matter would respect my judgment right now,” she said pointedly.
“Yeah same,” she nodded,“ So… I should, grab a cab home.” Lena laughed then, unencumbered.
“Oh please, you’re letting Karl drive you home like usual.”
“Okay okay…but it’s not my fault that your driver likes me better.”
“Well, it’s certainly not my fault that your sunny disposition and unintentional charm is magnetic.”
There was that charge again.
Kara stared at her again, unblinking and with that adorable puppy head tilt. Lena laughed it off, awkwardly,“ But umm…here, at least take a clean shirt.” Kara followed her into the bedroom to retrieve one, buried in the back of her armoire and handed it to Kara.
“Lena Luthor…is this a band t-shirt? You own a band t-shirt?”
“What did you think I was gonna give you? A valentino dress? We’re not the same size.”
“Yes, because that’s the only reason you wouldn’t lend me one of those,” she pulled it on, and it fit her well so it must have been a little long on Lena,“Oh man it’s an N-Sync shirt.” They laughed and laughed until the tension was gone again, but only for a moment. Kara suddenly felt overwhelmed, her super-senses going into overdrive. It was a lot harder to control when alcohol lowered her cognitive thinking. Without thinking about it she pulled up the collar of the shirt and closed her eyes as she inhaled,“ Smells like you,” she smiled, dizzily.
And that, coupled with the fact that Kara looked just as sexy in her shirt as she did in a wet white bra, broke whatever resolve Lena had left.
She slowly, but confidently, stepped forward to cover the two feet between them and Kara let her close the distance. The shorter girl gently took the other girls hand, still resting at the collar of her shirt and leaned forward. A breath away, but giving Kara time to either step back and blame the whole thing on the alcohol or finally act on whatever (hopefully mutual)…thing they had going on. This unresolved thirst.
Kara didn’t hesitate to connect their lips, a wash of wine, lipstick, and longing mingling in the middle.
Lena didn’t know how long it took her to pull back to breathe but she dove right back in as soon as she could. The fantasy of being with her best friend didn’t even remotely compare to the reality of it. She never thought that Kara could ever, in a million years, reciprocate her feelings. And reciprocate she did.
“Fuck,” Kara quietly gasped when Lena expertly slipped her tongue in. She groaned at the uncharacteristic expletive and Kara came apart and backed the CEO into the bedroom door, her thigh finding traction between her legs.
The blonde drank in the moan she got greedily and Kara gave her a look of reverence before kissing down her pale neck. Something told her she bruised easily and she couldn’t wait to test that theory. And Lena…Lena could not believe what she did next.
“Kar, Kar…we have to stop,” she breathed raggedly as oh god Kara’s tongue was on her neck. She pulled Kara up by gently tugging on her hair and kissed her again.
“You’re…you’re right. We’re drunk.” Her chest was heaving and her vision was slightly blurry. The mix of booze, never-ending sleep deprivation and the feeling of her best friends tongue running down her neck made her slightly delirious.
“Yeah, yes. And, it’s late.” Lena could see the switch, Kara trying to be a chivalrous hero and do the right thing, palpable arousal be damned.
“And it’s late.”
“And I’ve been waiting months for this so I’d like to do it right and take you on a date before I take you to bed.”
“Right. Bed. The one that’s 6 feet away.” Lena let her eyes wash over the gorgeous picture in front of her and tried her very best not to drag her that last 6 feet,
“My my Kara Danvers, who knew you’d be such a vixen.”
“Well, you’re not the only one who’s been waiting months for this.” All of a sudden her bashfulness returned as she giggled,“ Rao I can’t believe this is happening…” she mumbled into her chest.
Lena paused.
“What?”
“What?”
“What did you say?” Even delirious, she knew that phrasewasn’t normal.
“I said uh…I said Rao. It’s something Supergirl got me saying. A little inside joke between friends.” For Kara, it was a pretty good lie, but (though Lena couldn’t be sure) she was pretty sure it was still a lie. If not about being Supergirl then mayb-
-her brain short-circuited when Kara chastely kissed her again,“ I’m gonna go now.”
“That’s a good idea.” The blonde stepped back a bit. Lena followed her to gather her things before they stood by the door.
“I’ll see you tomorrow?” Lena’s eyes shifted down to Kara’s lips where she spotted traces of her own lipstick. She couldn’t help herself as she kissed the smudges one more time.
“Tomorrow, boss,” Kara whispered, pulling away much too early for Lena’s liking before starting down the hall.
Lena watched her go, smiling like a fool to herself. She may not have been any closer to finding out if Kara was Supergirl but she wouldn’t call the night a failure by any means.
“So should I speak to Jess about penning our first date into your schedule?” Kara called back. Lena rolled her eyes playfully.
“Goodnight Kara.” She closed the door and leaned against it, it was all she could do not to chase the girl down the hall.
No, not a failure at all.
For their first date Lena planned a dinner with all of their favorite foods, a view of the National City skyline at sunset and dancing under twinkling fairy lights.
For their second date Kara took her on a scavenger hunt at Lena’s favorite museum. With Winn’s help she created clues that were hard enough to actually stimulate Lena’s genius brain and the CEO of course, cracked it and eventually found the prize (two tickets to the regional chess competition that was in Central City a week from that day).
After their third Kara had told the rest of the team that she and Lena had become involved and they all took it better than she expected, which was a welcome relief after all of the doubt from the past. Alex was torn between loving the fact that her sister was also sapphic and the fact that her sister was yuck dating someone. Although she couldn’t wait to give the shovel talk to Lena freaking Luthor.
Lena didn’t think about her 'experiment’ again until the fifth date. She had been so caught up with just being with Kara. The more and more they allowed themselves to…indulge, the closer they got. She didn’t think she could get anymore attached to the blonde before they started seeing each other but boy, was she wrong.
It didn’t help that things had…started to escalate. Heatedly. Sometimes in very inappropriate places for a CEO and her employee to be getting heated. But the fifth date…
Well, technically it wasn’t a date. They were supposed to go to a comedy club but Lena forgot about a fancy charity gala that Lena and every other multi-millionaire in the city was going to. But, they had agreed that Kara should go too as Lena’s date. It was a subtle, public announcement. Not many people were entirely perceptive and they didn’t flaunt how close they had gotten but they didn’t hide it either. It was a good first trial, limited press coverage, no one too slimy.
Lena had worn red, Kara had worn blue and though they spent hundreds of dollars getting their dresses on they looked at each other like they couldn’t wait to get them off.
“Lena, good to see you!” A handsome man, with a British accent walked up to them. Immediately, Lena noticed his eyes linger on her date and her own narrowed.
“Michael, hello. Kara this is Michael, head of the U.K. branch of L-Corp.”
“Pleasure to meet you, Kara,” he said flashing a smile and taking Kara’s hand, kissing it tenderly,“ And what are you doing here at this gala Ms. Kara? Another CEO perhaps if you’re running with Lena?”
“Actually she’s a reporter but more importantly she’s my girlfriend. So I’d take a couple steps back Michael.” She said it with a Stepford smile and Michael just grinned back, not at all phased.
“Of course Lena, my apologies. You know I’m just a flirt by nature.”
“Which is why I asked nicely.”
“Enjoy the champagne ladies, Lena, I’ll see you in London next month. Kara, it was a pleasure.”
Lena was still glaring when Kara kissed here scowl.
“I’m sorry. He’s a great manager he just…he’s a player and I didn’t like the way he was looking at you. Not to mention the kiss on your hand may as well have come with a PG-13 rating.”
“I kinda hate to admit it but the slight possessiveness…kinda really turns me on.” Lena smirked,
“Oh yeah?”
“Mmhmm. But you know what does even more?” she whispered, her hand dropping down lower than it should have for where they were.
“The whole time we’ve been here, you’ve introduced me as Kara, or Kara Danvers, or Kara the reporter. Not 'my friend’, or 'my date.’ But just now, you called me your girlfriend.” Lena’s eyes widened at the realization.
“Kara I-I’m sorry, we should have discussed this just us first. I just-”
The blonde cut her off with a kiss,
“Keep calling me that, Lena Luthor.” They were both unable to hide their smiles as they pulled away.
Not an hour after the gala had ended and they had no problem taking off each others dresses. It was a big night for their relationship. Publicly coming out, becoming official official, and seeing each other just shy of naked at the same time. They had gotten close before, however, up until now they hadn’t slept together. Of course, they had thought about it, craved it even, but something always came up. They were both holding back for a reason. Lena, because she wanted to know the whole truth before she took this step and allowed herself to really, truly fall and Kara for the same reason, but because she felt guilty. And in case she accidentally tore the headboard off or something in the throws of passion. She knew she would never hurt Lena but furniture be damned.
“I’m on my period,” Lena blurted, very unsexily beneath her. Of course it was a lie but it just sort of…came tumbling out.
“Oh that’s…it’s okay.”
“I’m sorry I- you don’t know how much I want this, Kar, I-” the blonde kissed her again, fiercely.
“Don’t you dare finish that sentence Luthor. I don’t need anymore from you than you’ve already given.” Lena felt her eyes start to well up but was able to push back actual tears. God she didn’t deserve this beautiful, wonderful woman.
“If you’re okay with it, I can still do you.” Kara shook her head vehemently.
“No silly, this is a special moment. I can definitely wait.” Lena kissed her tenderly. She really was one lucky girl.
“Okay then, we’ll wait.”
She had to finish this experiment and find conclusive evidence, ASAP.
A few days later on their sixth date, there was a dangerous alien attacking the city and Kara had to leave in the middle of it due to a family emergency. It took all of Lena’s strength to let her go. Not minutes later she was watching Supergirl give a beat down to the flying purple and orange alien, but not without taking a beating herself. The next day, Alex called in sick for Kara, worry evident in her voice.
Kara texted Lena, telling her not to worry or come over and that she’d be back at work tomorrow but still, Lena couldn’t help but think that she knew the truth. She knew Kara was just trying to protect her by keeping her secret but they were dating now. She wanted- needed to know the truth if she was going to do this.
But maybe…maybe she was looking at this the wrong way. Maybe she shouldn’t try to prove Kara was Supergirl, maybe she should try to prove Supergirl was Kara. Sure she had thought a lot about if out right asking Kara was the best option but honestly…she was kinda having fun with the challenge. It was almost a matter of pride at this point what the truth truly was.
So experiment 3 was a go. And Lena told herself, if this last ditch plan didn’t work, then she would ask Kara point blank.
For phase one, Lena had asked her girlfriend if she could set up a meeting between her and Supergirl.
“Is everything okay? You’re not in danger are you?” Kara asked, frenzied.
“No no, nothing like that, I just want to run a few things by her. I’m working on a new serum that could help neutralize Kryptonite but I need her permission first. I would never try something like that behind her back.”
“Lena that’s…that’s amazing.” Kara looked at her awestruck.
“Well, it won’t be amazing until it works and she’s safe. But, you’ll do it? Set up the meeting?”
“Yeah, yes of course, does 8 in your office tomorrow work?”
“That’d be perfect,” she agreed,“ you’re more than welcome to be there for the meeting too, if you’d like.”
“Oh ummm…I’ve got a lead to chase tomorrow night, but I’m sure I’ll hear all about it.”
“Well, if not from me, then from her.” Lena was just having fun messing with her now. Blushing Kara was one of her favorites.
“Right yeah so, actually I have to prep for tomorrow so I’d better go now, bye,” she kissed her quickly, before hurrying off.
Time to move on to phase two.
For the meeting, Lena put on one of Kara’s favorite outfits of hers. Well, she was pretty sure it was her favorite, because the last time she wore it the blonde couldn’t keep her hands to herself at work and she got dragged into a supply closet just so they could make out.
Not that she was complaining.
It was an all black number. A short textured black skirt, and a dangerously low-cut equally tight leather blouse that did wonders for her cleavage. She put a blazer on top of it so she could do her own reveal at just the right moment. She also ordered take out, Thai, specifically.
She heard the familiar thump of Supergirl landing on her balcony and took a deep breathe. It was now or never.
“Supergirl, I’m glad you could make it,” Lena greeted the hero as she helped herself in,“ scotch?” she offered. Kara smiled,
“I really shouldn’t drink and fly,” she joked. Over the past couple weeks she had noticed how much more of herself Kara was letting her see in both of her persona’s, even if she was doing it subconsciously. Supergirls’ confidence and came out more than once, when the media was harassing Lena for the nth time about the next 'scandalizing’ thing. And in the few times she’d seen her girlfriend in her cape, the usually stoic, no nonsense hero started letting her guard down – smiling and joking just that little bit more. And, just like Kara’s eyes wandered, she noticed Supergirl’s did too.
“Fair enough. Though, if it were an actual a problem, I’m sure Karl could drive you to..wherever you live. He seems to enjoy Kara well enough.”
She gave the smallest of smiles before crossing her arms,“ ahem, speaking of Kara, she said something about a device that could neutralize Kryptonite?”
“Yes well, I got the idea after my mother tried to kill Edge with the Lexosuit, which as you know, runs on Kryptonite,” Kara nodded,“ I found a prototype she was storing and was going to hand it over to you but then my brain got thinking, and if I could analyze a sample of Kryptonite and break down it’s chemical composition, I might be able to figure out how to render it useless against you. Or, at the very least, make it so you don’t feel pain with it. Of course if that makes you uncomfortable I will hand it over in a heart beat.”
“Ms. Luthor,” Kara started, Lena always got a twinge of arousal down her spine when she said her name like that,“ It sounds like a fantastic idea to me. And, I trust you.” The proud gleam in her eyes was 100% her girlfriend.
“Well, in that case…” Lena shrugged off her coat and put on her best salacious smirk. The effect was immediate, Supergirl gasped and her eyes dropped dangerously low when Lena leaned forward, hands at the edge of her desk,“ We should talk business.”
“A-actually I-”
“Please, Supergirl. I want to do this right.” She pleaded with her eyes and the Kryptonian was mush. The blonde nodded slowly, swallowing dryly when the CEO bit her lip and said,“ Good.”
She let her voice dip low as she drew out her words, just that little bit.
“So, I thought to put you and your team’s mind at ease, I would do the research on your turf, if you’d let me. You could have me anytime you want.”
“Uh-huh,” Kara breathed, her mind falling into the gutter. If she could bleed, her fingers would be digging dangerously into her palm with how hard she was trying to restrain herself. After two weeks of being Lena’s girlfriend and not getting release she was aching for her. All she wanted to do was throw her down on her expensive desk and ravage her.
“And as an added precaution, I thought I could have a chaperon. You wouldn’t mind observing me, would you?”
“No not at all.” Her voice was barely above a whisper, now.
“Great, I cannot wait. I’ve just…I’ve missed working on real science since I took over Catco. It’s like…this thing inside me, this animal, that I have to feed or it just, frustrates me to no end and I can’t think of anything else. Like an itch I can’t scratch. You know that feeling?”
Kara hadn’t even realized she was holding her breath until she had to speak again,“ I…have an idea, yeah.”
“Well, it’s settled then. We can, help each other out.” Kara nodded, eyes closed, she needed to get out of there before she-
“I’m so glad you came Supergirl. Well, now that we’ve landed on something I can finally eat, I’ve been racking my brain about this all day, haven’t had the chance since this morning.” For a moment the lust swirling in the hero’s eyes was replaced with genuine concern.
“Lena, you have to eat. You’re already working god knows how many hours.”
“I know, I know. Wow, you almost sound like my girlfriend, you two really do share a lot don’t you?” Kara blanched as Lena opened her take-out container.
“That smells amazing,” she mumbled.
“Well, you’re welcome to have some, if you’d like,” the dark-haired girl offered as she started to take a bite.
“No that’s okay I-” Kara’s eyes widened in sudden realization,“ LENA NO!” she yelled, thinking too reflexively as she slapped the fork out of her hand. They looked at each other in shock, before Lena smiled slyly.
“HA! I can’t believe I finally caught you.” Kara blinked.
“I um, what?”
“Y'know, for a second there, I almost thought you wouldn’t notice the cilantro…Kara.”
“Of course I noticed! You know how badly you’re allergic to cila- oh. OH. You just called me…”
“Well, only a very limited amount of people know about that allergy. Isn't that right, love?” Lena couldn’t help but feel smug as she watched the girl sputter. Finally after two years, after all the missed lunch dates and family emergencies and excuses, she finally-
Oh shit, why was Kara crying?
Lena smirk fell straight off and a look of horror replaced it as she watched the Girl of Steel shake in her red boots with silent tears.
“Kara, no baby don’t cry,” Lena rounded the desk as quickly as she could and took her up in her arms.
“I-I’m sorry Lee, I’m sorry for not telling you sooner I just…I love you so much I can’t bare to lose you. You’re not just my girlfriend y-you-re my person and I know it took me two years to see that but I- God I didn’t want you to hate me for lying for so long but I didn’t know how to, and I just, I just, I just-” Lena kissed her cheeks, her forehead, all around her face as she simultaneously wiped away her tears.
“Kara Danvers, you listen to me. I could never hate you. I know you were conflicted and you had the best intentions.”
“I have the best intentions. Lena, I promise you. I was just so afraid that my enemies would put you in harms way to get to me, I couldn’t live with myself if something happened to you. But when we started dating, I knew that I had to be honest with you I just didn’t know how to tell you after I had lied to you all this time.”
“You did the best you could, I know you would have found a way to tell me on your own. I just got so caught up in the challenge of proving it…I should have just been honest with you too.”
“I knew something was up. I told Alex you had been acting a little strangely. How long have you been suspicious?”
“Well, I think in the back of my mind the truth was always there but I didn’t really start investigating until you saved me from arsenic poison.”
“J'onn did say it was risky that I saved you without my suit but there was no way I was going to- wait, what did investigating entail?” This time it was Lena’s turn to blush.
“I…figured it might be easier for you to tell me if you just…slipped up, or I found out on my own. So I tried a couple tactics to prove it. Actually, the first night we kissed I …may have spilled that wine on purpose…” for a split second Lena was afraid she’d be mad before she started laughing.
“You thought I would be wearing the suit didn’t you,” she nodded,“ well, I’m definitely not complaining about the alternative.”
“Me either, but if I’m being honest,” Lena looked her up and down,“ I really love the suit.”
“And I love you Lena Luthor,” she said candidly.
“You-”
“I know it’s soon to say, but I do love you. It wasn’t a hard jump from overwhelming platonic love to romantic.”
“I- I love you too,” they leaned forward at the same time. This kiss was sweet at first, before it started to get more…passionate. Lena pulled the blonde into her, Lena’s ass hitting the desk harshly. Kara tugged at the hem of her shirt,
“This outfit, was part of it all too, wasn’t it?” she rasped.
“Well, you like it don’t you?”
“I like it, because…” Lena lifted her arms so Kara could rid her of it,“ of how fun it is to take it off of you.”
“And, you’re not mad I was…scheming? ” the CEO asked between pecks.
“As long as you’re not mad at me for keeping the truth from you for so long…” Lena threw her head back and groaned when her bra fell off and Kara ravished her breasts.
“I don’t know, Supergirl, I think…that you’ve been, very bad. I think that you might have to make it up to me.” Kara hummed on a nipple in response before starting South, nipping at her tensing abs and dragging her skirt down to her ankles so she could step out of it.
“I’ll do anything to make it up to you Ms. Luthor,” she breathed, pressing hot open-mouthed kisses along the waistband of her lacy black thong, bringing her hands up to Lena’s ass.
“It must be hard to beg on your knees in that short skirt,” she teased, hardly believing that Supergirl was in her suit, kneeling between Lena’s legs and dangerously close to where she needed her most. To where she’s needed her for the past two weeks- years- in her office of all places.
Lena felt the air leave her lungs and her stomach drop to the floor at the absolutely lewd way her girlfriend looked up at her as she pulled her thong off. Well ripped off.
“Haven’t you heard Ms. Luthor? I’m the Girl of Steel, I can be on my knees all night long if I have to.”
A/N: Hope ya’ll liked it!! It was fun working on stuff again. Let me know if you have anymore prompts!

So I just finished season 2 of Supergirl and...
-Kara Danvers deserves so much fucking better
-I don’t completely hate Mon-El. He was a terrible boyfriend and not right for Kara but not a bad guy all in all.
-Why didn’t Sanvers get more screen time?
-Why did they just totally abort the Kara/James subplot? If Kara is gonna be with a man, it should be him.
-Who is more in love with Kara/Supergirl: Cat Grant or Lena Luthor?
-Not near enough Cat Grant in season 2
-Cat “Queen of All Knowing Secret Identities” Grant <3 <3 <3
-Lena Luthor deserves way fucking better
-Wtf happened to Lucy Lane?
-Winn/Lyra is adorable
-Winn is adorkable af
-J’onn J’onzz deserves the world and I’m so glad he has M’gann
-I feel empty now

Barry Allen, Sara Lance, Oliver Queen, Ray Palmer, Supergirl/Kara Danvers
Barry Allen –Barry is such a Puff, honestly, he’s loyal, hardworking, a genuinely goodperson, loves his family and has a very good moral compass (and judges those whodon’t, people forget how judgey Hufflepuffs can be when people don’t live up totheir moral expectations). I feel Barry also has Ravenclaw traits, beingintelligent and intellectual and loving knowledge and learning, but for me, hisPuff traits win out.
Sara Lance –Sara is such aGryffindor, brave, headstrong and reckless, she charges into situations withoutthinking, is gung-ho and confident, has the bravado so many Gryffindors seem todisplay and also displays a strong sense of justice. She is also incredibly fierce and unafraid to stand up for what she believes in.
Oliver Queen – I feel Olivertreads the line between Slytherin and Gyrffindor. Pre-Island he seems moreGyrffindor, having the Gryffindor bravado, recklessness and impulsiveness. While he still has some of these traits post-Island, I feel like the Oliver whoreturns is more of a Slytherin, pragmatic, ruthless, underhanded and utterlycommitted to seeing his mission through, nomatter what, whether that means using and manipulating people, causing harmor even outright killing. So I’d say Oliver is a Slytherin with Gryffindortraits.
Ray Palmer – Ray Palmer is such a freakin’ Hufflepuff, adorablecinnamon roll that he is. While, yes, he definitely has Ravenclaw traits, suchas intelligence, creativity and intellect, his core traits are those of a Puff. He’s compassionate, hardworking, loyal and has a very strong moral compass anda desire to help people and do what’s right. He’s also the Mom Friend. One hundred per cent a Puff.
Kara Danvers – I haven’twatched Supergirl, but from what I’ve gleaned from the crossover eps, Kara seemslike a Puff, sweet, hardworking, good moral compass and very loyal. She’s alsocompletely adorkable, which seems to be a strong trait amongst Puff characters.

Supercorp Appreciation Week
Day 3 (April 26): Favorite Scene or Episode. How many days am I late? Three? Whoops
Ayyy So I got a lot of supercorp feelings about 2x18 Ace Reporter. I mean, just look at those beautiful pictures. But something that really got me about this episode? We got to see Kara’s feelings in full damn force. And while I’m only going to focus on the supercorp aspect of this, I do feel like we got a little bit of our Kara back this episode (the headstrong, I’m a reporter and will fight for truth, protective season 1 Kara). I get this feeling about a lot of Lena episodes: that we’re not only getting Lena back, but our Kara too.
Remember how almost the entirety of the fandom believed it was the lovely Katie McGrath who went all out in her scenes to make them gay and Melissa was following her lead? Only for it to be revealed that it was that enigmatic Melissa who knew about it all along and told Katie about it?
I felt a similar shift in this episode. Because I’ve seen it everywhere that “Lena knows she has feelings for Kara and Kara does too but she’s in denial”. But guess what? After watching this episode, I am positive Kara knows.
I want to do this picture by picture. The number relates to the picture. Read more because this got hella long.
First off, that first scene with them? Adorable. We never saw how Lena knew where Kara lived in 2x05 and it apparently is never discussed again even now as Lena just drops by whenever she pleases. And I need to talk about how Lena knows that Kara grief bakes and called Kara out on lying about it because lmao. And while we’re at it, Lena obviously knows that Kara got fired. I wonder how that conversation went. And the entire scene when Lena is telling Kara about her ex? And Kara’s reactions? Decidedly non platonic. Lena looked nervous while telling Kara and she stumbles over saying “we were...close” and Kara immediately wants to know how long they were together and when she hears that it was a fairly RECENT relationship? It’s not overly obvious but Kara is definitely uncomfortable talking about this. That entire exchange is one I have had with friends and none of them ever went like that. I’m just saying. So now the two of them are going to the conference and there’s the flirty finishing of each other’s sentences and Kara’s once again promising to defend Lena ALWAYS and Lena’s saying “you’re my favorite” and then this picture. They’re just looking at each other and smiling and it’s just cute as hell.
Btw, in the beginning of this scene, I’m not sure what the context was but Kara tells Lena “you look great”. Which, she does of course, but what prompted that? I don’t want to know. I just like imagining that she said it out of nowhere. And this picture makes me laugh every time because Snapper has just insulted Kara and Lena looks ready to fucking fight him. I have no doubt that if Snapper had continued, there would have been words. Threatening words hidden behind a charming smile and a low tone.
And omg, I love this moment. Because when Lena and Jack were hugging, Kara looks awkward as hell, loses her smile, and looks downward. She looked entirely too similar to how she used to look around James and Lucy. And then when that’s over and Lena compliments her by saying she’s one of the best reporters in National City (during a time when Kara is unemployed)? Kara loses her absolute shit over it for a while. And it’s the cutest thing. She laughs adorkably, can’t control her smile, looks downward this time in embarrassment/glee, and gestures with her hands. It’s such an extreme reaction and we’ve all seen the comparison gifset of Kara’s reaction in this scene and her reaction to James making her laugh in season 1 and what did we see? They’re the same exact reaction. Kara responds to Lena the same way she responded to James and Melissa is doing this deliberately. We’ve seen it all throughout this season but this was a glaring example.
And now the dinner scene. I just want to point out that Kara was jealous before she got the news about Jack. So here? Not only is she jealous but that jealousy is being eclipsed by worry and protectiveness because there is a very real possibility that Lena is in danger. So of course she won’t just call Lena. You know damn well Kara is going to that restaurant so she can watch out for Lena and keep an eye on Jack. And it’s still a funny scene. Kara practically spits out “that’s what friends are for!” when Lena asks what she’s doing there and her “ANYWAYS” after a romantic declaration from Jack made me pause the video from laughter. And she’s furious when mon suggests leaving.
And now the first truth reveal scene that Jack is made of bees nanobots. Both our ladies handled this beautifully. Lena is almost completely composed in this scene except for when she’s not (something that would only happen around Kara) and Kara, Kara darling, she’s determined, she’s protective, worried, afraid, she’s all of these things except in the picture I chose, where she’s looking at Lena and something just clicks. Kara has shown Lena the video. Lena wants to go confront Jack. Kara looks pained and says “I know how you feel about him” with a down right annoyed look on her face as she says it and then right after Kara says he will kill Lena if she talks to him, this expression happens. We’ve all talked about it. It was a few moments of Kara just staring at Lena like she was the world. The world she could potentially lose again if Lena went after Jack. And this is where I think Kara realized the true extent of her feelings. Because she’s looking at Lena like she’s everything and then as soon as she realizes she’s doing so, she snaps out of it and asks Lena to stay away.
Now Lena said she would stay away. She didn’t. But how did Kara know this? A part of me thought that Lena actually asked Supergirl to be her backup after Kara left but I kept finding too many holes in that theory. So we’re left to assume that Kara was following Lena. There are some issues with that theory but for now, let’s move past it. Because Supergirl saves Lena in the nick of time and then after telling Lena to get out of there, Lena suggests another plan. And Kara goes along with it. TEAMWORK. THEY LISTENED TO EACH OTHER AND COMPROMISED. THEY TRUST EACH OTHER SO MUCH. And of course, Lena chose to save Supergirl’s life. Of course she did. I feel terrible for Jack, I really do. He didn’t deserve anything that happened to him and seemed like a decent guy who admittedly made some bad mistakes in how he handled his relationship with Lena. But he wasn’t a bad person. That would have made the choice a only slightly easier. But in the end, Lena chose Kara. And whether or not she knows Kara is Supergirl, both scenarios have a lot of potential.
And now finally the scene that killed us. It’s so good. And here’s where I really got the idea that Kara is aware of her feelings. Kara brings Lena flowers with some incredibly specific meanings, Lena talks about how she’s feeling in full honesty to Kara and doesn’t sugarcoat any of it, Kara looks like she’s about to cry at how upset Lena is and then goes wraps her arm around her. She nearly kisses Lena’s forehead. And now Kara has some straight up wedding vows here. “You’re not gonna lose me. I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere. I will always be your friend.” And this line: “And I will always protect you”. This line made me gasp and cover my mouth. Because friends protect each other, of course. But this line, said this way, in this context? That was not platonic. And this declaration did come a bit out of nowhere. The previous ones all made sense in the context of the conversation. But this line is more Supergirl than Kara Danvers and it is all Kara Zor-El. Because until now, all the protection has been as Supergirl. Supergirl is there to stop the physical pain and Kara Danvers comes in later to help heal the emotional pain. The comforting hold is Kara Danvers’, the words are Supergirl’s but the vehement promise of always protecting Lena is Kara Zor-El. It is Kara letting Lena see the real side of herself and it’s Kara trusting Lena so absolutely that she feels comfortable enough to do so. But moreover, it is Kara’s constant promises of “Always” to Lena that are really telling because as someone who has lost a civilization, a culture, a planet, Kara would know better than anyone that Always may not be permanent. But here she is, promising it to Lena over and over again in this episode alone.

Sanvers just having a laugh and silly night with pillow fights and climbing all over each other and just being adorkable (prompt)
Before Maggie, Alex’s go-to after long days – the days whereshe needed to be alone, where not even Kara’s company would do – was a bottleof bourbon.
Before Alex, Maggie’s go-to after long days – the days whereshe needed to be alone, where not even M’gann and the bar would do – was aheavy bag.
Since Maggie, Alex’s go-to became the massages Maggie wouldgive her, the root beer Maggie would crack open for her, Maggie’s fingersrunning through her hair as Alex laid in her lap.
Since Alex, Maggie’s go-to became the baths Alex would drawfor her, the vegan ice cream Alex would buy for her, the soft jazz Alex wouldplay throughout the apartment for her.
But Maggie still needed physical release; Maggie was wiredfor physical release.
Sometimes, it was sex; sometimes, it was begging Alex toshove her backwards onto the bed and fuck her senseless, and sometimes, it wasbending a pliant, panting Alex over the couch and slamming into her until thewere both weak in the knees.
But with Alex, she was also learning about other kinds ofintimacy.
With Alex, she was learning to laugh again. More than that, she was learning to giggle.
Because one night, after a particularly long day – after aparticularly bloody day – she comes home earlier than expected, and there is apile of blankets, a fort of pillows, meticulously assembled in the middle ofthe living room.
And in the middle of all this soft pillow-y chaos, her headand wide, deer-in-the-headlight eyes poking out from under one of the blankets,is Maggie’s badass, take-no-prisoners, secret agent soldier girlfriend.
“You weren’t supposed to be home yet!” Alex squeals, andMaggie tilts her head and saunters forward, barely holding in a laugh.
“Do you… want me to leave? You could be alone with your…fort?”
The fort trembles and Alex’s upper body emerges in protest.“It’s not my fort, Maggie! It’s yours! Well, ours, really. I – it – Karamakes me forts sometimes, when I have a really rough day, so I thought maybeyou’d like a fort too!”
Her eyes are still wide and her face is getting redder andredder with each syllable, and Maggie kicks off her boots without breaking eyecontact with her, and she bites the corner of her upper lip, and she knowsshe’s never been in love like this.
Without looking away from her suddenly shy, suddenly nervousgirlfriend, Maggie reaches out to the couch for one of the only pillows thathasn’t yet been integrated into the fort.
“Do you uh… need extra pillows for our fort, Danvers?” Hereyes glisten dangerously, and Alex fully emerges from the fort now, holding herhands up protectively.
“Don’t you dare, Maggie Sawyer,” she cautions with a growingsmile, and Maggie lunges.
Alex shrieks, part with laughter and part with shock, as shetumbles back into the fort, fall completely cushioned by soft blankets and morepillows than Maggie even knew she owned.
Maggie’s frozen on top of her with laughter, and Alex takesthe opportunity to flip her over, to wrest the pillow from her hand and bringit down into her side.
“Oh, that’s how you wanna play, Danvers?” Maggie laughs asshe grabs above her head at another pillow.
“You started it, Sawyer!” Alex breathes as she rolls over toavoid Maggie’s pillow blow, but Maggie must know some pillow fighting tricksthat Alex never learned in the DEO, because before she can regain balance,Maggie’s found her shoulder with the memory foam pillow.
“Oh, bringing the memory foam to a pillow fight! You playdirty, Sawyer.”
Maggie straddles Alex so suddenly that Alex hisses, suddenlyturned on beyond belief. “You know I do, Danvers.”
Alex leans up for a kiss, but Alex comes up empty, becauseMaggie launches herself off of Alex to the other side of the fort to grab atone of the blankets and wrap it around her shoulders.
“Every good pillow fighter needs a cape,” she declares, hands on her hips, and Alex giggles.
“And you call me a nerd,” she laughs as she swings Maggie’sfavorite throw pillow her way.
“Takes one to know one, Ally,” Maggie counters as she blocksthe blow, and she can’t stop the last syllable from turning into a scream whenAlex scoops her up bridal style and spins her around until they collapse in a dizzy, painful, breathless, hysterically-giggling pile on the fort.
They laugh until tears sting their eyes and stitches ache intheir sides, and they laugh until they’ve forgotten what sadness feels like.
“Pillow fights need to be an institutionalized part of gamenight with the gang,” is the first thing Maggie declares when she gets herbreath back, and Alex kisses her soundly, relieved and profoundly, profoundlythrilled that Maggie is exactly who she is.
“Kara and Winn are fiends; we’ll have to team up with James tostand a chance.”
Maggie snuggles into Alex’s still slightly heaving chest andsmiles. “Teaming up with you, Danvers? I could do worse.”
“Love you too, Sawyer.”

Saving Livewire
Prompt: “I would love to see a story of journey in the relationship between Supergirl and Livewire from enemies to nemesis.” from @clockcounter
There’s a loud beeping coming from Winn’s computer and that usually means something bad is happening. It’s a pavlovian trigger at this point that has Kara’s heart racing and adrenaline pumping. She’s ready for a fight. She dashes over until she can look at his screen over his shoulder.
“What’s going on?”
“Uh, well, remember when you let Livewire go?”
Winn’s voice is accusatory and he doesn’t understand. He hasn’t tried to. He still thinks a little bit in black and white sometimes and Leslie… well, Leslie is firmly grey. Kara ignores him.
“Yeah, I remember.”
“Well, I set up a tracking system so that we could keep an eye on her. Essentially if there’s a huge power drain from anywhere in the city consistently with her powers, I get an alert.”
“Where is she?”
“Downtown, at the corner of Maple and 89th.”
Kara turns and takes off.
Kara knows Leslie Willis tangentially. She’s seen her as she enters and exits Cat’s office but Leslie has never been part of any editorial or content meetings. Cat seems to want to keep her separate from the rest of CatCo sometimes. It’s true that Leslie’s brand of entertainment is a little more judgmental than CatCo normally likes to be but Kara had always considered it strange that Cat kept her so separate. But, it turns out even Leslie Willis can’t avoid the annual CatCo gala required to all writers, editors, and talk show hosts.
Kara, of course, spends the night trailing behind Cat, making sure there’s a champagne glass in her hands at all times and jotting down any notes that Cat needs to remember. It’s not the most fun part of Kara’s job but she doesn’t hate it. It’s nice getting to know the employees and their roles in the company (even if Cat’s opinions on each of them can be a little scathing at times.)
Eventually and inevitably, they end up with Leslie. Kara has never paid her much mind before. She knows that Cat found her, groomed her, and gave her a home. She knows that Cat sees a little of herself in the spunky host. But she doesn’t know much about Leslie herself.
“Leslie,” Cat says, and her tone holds none of the fake politeness it had with many of the others. “I’m so glad you made it.”
“You threatened to fire me if I didn’t,” Leslie replies dryly. “Not that you could because my contract still has three years on it.”
“Hmmm, it was just a little motivation,” Cat says. “You do need to show your face sometimes. People want to see the woman hiding in that little radio booth.”
Leslie huffs but doesn’t bother disagreeing.
“Kara,” Cat says, turning slightly to her but not taking her eyes off Leslie. “Please clear an hour in my schedule on Monday, at four? Does that work for you Leslie. I’d like to meet to talk about your show.”
“Are you going to try and tell me what to do again?” Leslie asks, voice taunting.
“I am going to guide you in the right direction. Your last show caused quite a stir. You need to be careful Leslie.”
“People don’t listen to my show because they want me to be nice, Cat,” Leslie snarks back.
“We will discuss it further on Monday, Leslie.”
Cat’s tone is sharp enough that even Leslie hesitates before rolling her eyes.
“Whatever.”
With that, Cat turns on heel and Kara follows in her wake.
At first glance, there’s nothing wrong. People seem to just be going about their day normally. It’s a crowded intersection where two major roads meet and if anything out of the ordinary had happened there would surely be a panic. Kara scans the area, first with her regular eyes, and then with a little bit of x-ray vision. It’s only then that she sees Leslie, Livewire, in the basement of one of the buildings, her hands placed against a generator, sucking as much energy out as she can. The lights in the building flicker once, twice, and the go out entirely as all of the power is sucked from the generator.
Whatever Leslie is up to, it can’t be good. Kara dives through one of the open windows, ignoring shouts of surprise from the employees and flies into the basement. She makes eye contact with Livewire for a split second before Leslie dematerializes and disappears.
And just when Kara was starting to think people were starting to like Supergirl. Leslie’s words are scathing and somehow cut through all of Kara’s insecurities more cleanly than anything else that’s been said about her. Supergirl isn’t ‘adorkable’. She’s strong and powerful and heroic. And then Leslie starts talking about sex and well, she has a point. Because Kara has broken toes and noses and once a hand and sex is complicated and hard for her because she has to be so careful. But, no, there are no… ‘tentacles’ down there.
Kara is still bristling a little bit when she walks into the office and finds none other than… Leslie in Cat’s office. Cat has that dangerous look on her face. The one where she seems calm and casual to anyone who doesn’t know her well. Leslie does not seem to know her well because she’s slouched back in her chair, seeming entirely unconcerned and unafraid of whatever Cat is about to throw her way. When Winn suggests Kara use her super-hearing, Kara only hesitates for a second because she is really curious.
“I warned you not to go after Supergirl.”
Kara flinches at Cat’s tone. It’s her no non-sense tone, her ‘I won’t take no for an answer’ tone. Once again, Leslie doesn’t seem phased. She pushes back. She pushes back and she keeps pushing until Cat, inevitably snaps. The next thing Leslie knows, she’s pushed too far and she’s on traffic cam duty until Cat decides that she’s been punished enough.
“I lost her Winn,” Kara says into her comms. “Can you find her for me again?”
“Only if she tries to drain power like that again. Until then, we’re out of luck.”
Kara curses under her breath.
“Can you have someone come here to fix the generator she fried?”
“You bet, Supergirl.”
Kara switches off her comms and flies out of the building. She thinks often about letting Leslie go. She wonders if it was the right choice every moment of every day. She waits fearfully for news of someone killed by an electrical strike to the brain, of people with chemical burns, of panic-inducing blackouts. But it’s all been quiet and Kara had started to hope that maybe she hadn’t made the worst decision after all.
But now Leslie is back, and apparently causing a commotion while she’s at it. Kara has to find her again before she does any real damage.
Kara grabs Leslie’s hand, ready to pull her out of the falling helicopter and get her to safety but before she can do anything, she’s struck by some of the most intense pain that she’s ever felt. Not that she’s felt that much pain her life but this… It’s not until the blast is over that Kara realizes that it was lightning. So, apparently lightning can hurt her. Apparently it can hurt her a lot because her finger tips are numb and she’s kind of dizzy and wants to throw up. But she manages to safely deposit the helicopter on the roof and pull a now unconscious Leslie out. She deposits her gently onto a stretcher brought by the paramedics and then she lets Alex guide her back to the DEO.
After a night under the sun-lamps, Kara feels almost back to normal, which is just as well because she’s barely woken up before Cat is texting her to meet her at the hospital instead of CatCo.
Seeing Leslie lying in that hospital bed, silent and unmoving, Kara can’t help but feel a pang of guilt. If she’d just been more careful, faster, better, then maybe Leslie wouldn’t be here. Maybe Leslie was right to hate her. After all, it seems Supergirl isn’t the hero she needed.
Winn calls fifteen minutes later saying Leslie is in a warehouse by the docks and that there’s been a massive energy drain. This time, Kara gets there before Leslie has managed to completely destroy anything. Kara flies into her with enough speed that Leslie can’t react on time. They both get thrown into the opposite wall. Leslie puts her hands on Kara’s chest and pushes. It’s not the push that sends Kara flying, but the accompanying burst of electricity and Kara is painfully reminded that Leslie isn’t just some street criminal. Leslie can hurt her. Leslie at full strength can kill her.
But it doesn’t look like Leslie is at full strength. She’s always been pale since the whole lightning transformation thing, but right now she’s positively pallid. There are dark circles under her eyes that appear almost black and her lips seem more purple than anything. She stands awkwardly as if she can’t quite bear to stand up straight and she sways in place.
But her smirk is still strong as she leers down at Kara.
“Well, hello there Supergirl. I was wondering when you’d show up. I’m glad you didn’t bring the boys this time. It’s always more fun when it’s just you and me.”
Kara breathes a sigh of relief as Alex closes the door to Livewire’s cage in the DEO. But it’s relief that catches with guilt because she made this. She created Livewire. Leslie was in that copter because Cat punished her for the first time ever over Supergirl. Leslie was in a coma because Kara couldn’t protect her from the storm. Leslie gained all these powers she didn’t want because of Kara’s alien DNA. And now she’s in a cage because of Kara. Kara watches over the monitors as Leslie slams her hands against the walls of her cage over and over again. She screams and shouts and kicks until she’s exhausted. Then she takes a break and starts all over again.
“Stop it, Kara,” Alex says, shutting off the stream. “You can’t beat yourself up over this.”
“It’s my fault she’s in there Alex. It’s my fault she’s like that at all.”
“It’s not your fault. You didn’t put her in the helicopter. You couldn’t have known about the lightning. You were trying to save her. And look, on this job sometimes things happen. We can’t control everything so when something goes wrong we do our best to fix it and then we just move on. Okay? You can’t nit pick at everything or you’ll drive yourself crazy.”
Kara looks up at her big sister, at how worried she looks, and she thinks that yeah, maybe Alex is right. Of course Alex is right. So Kara stands up and walks away.
“I don’t want to fight you Leslie. What are you up to? Why didn’t you just stay away?”
Leslie rolls her eyes and lets out a dry laugh.
“Believe me, Girl of Steel, I wanted to. But sometimes life doesn’t work like that.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Leslie shakes her head and separates her legs in what Kara thinks is supposed to be a fighting stance, but Leslie is still swaying in place and something is very wrong with her.
“Leslie, what’s going on?” Kara asks softly.
Leslie screams and lets out a long burst of electricity that throws Kara against the opposite wall, but she finds that it doesn’t hurt as much as it should. It certainly makes every part of her tingle and her muscles aren’t movie quite right, but she doesn’t feel completely pinned down like she normally does when she and Livewire fight. It’s almost easy for her to roll out of the grasp of her electric tendrils and stand.
“Okay, I barely felt that. Is someone torturing you again?”
“I don’t need you to be my hero, Supergirl,” Leslie says, her upper lip curling.
She takes one step back, just enough to place her hand on the electric box she’d been suctioning energy from and once again, she disappears.
The only thing worse than Siobhan trying to kill Kara was Siobhan teaming up with Livewire to try and kill Supergirl. That was… just perfect really. Kara had put Livewire out of her mind, following Alex’s advice. And with Non and Astra and everything falling apart around her, it had been easy to do. She regrets it now. She should have kept a closer eye on her. She should have made her that there was no way Livewire could ever get out… she should have…
And for some reason it’s always Leslie who has her thinking like this. Leslie, from even before she became Livewire, has somehow always found a way to make Kara question herself. She hates it. Hates the reminder of her failure, hates that she knew Leslie and now she’s evil. Hates that Barry got hurt and Cat almost got hurt and all of those civilians almost got hurt. She hates the reminder that she can’t save everyone, no matter how hard she tries.
She’s tempted to throw Livewire into the darkest cell of the DEO again but Barry talks her out of it. He helps her set up accommodations at the local prison so that they can take Siobhan and Leslie in and so that they can exercise their rights as citizens.
“It’s better than hiding them away from the world. Prison isn’t a good place by any means but maybe they can get the help they need there,” he says.
Kara sincerely doubts it but it makes her feel a little better anyway.
Kara finds Leslie in her old studio at CatCo. It’s empty now that she let out a blast of electricity, frying the circuitry of the control board. She finds her there because all of CatCo is suddenly without power and it’s not hard to trace the source. When Kara walks in, she finds Leslie sitting in her old seat at the microphone, siphoning as much power as she can through the wires that run along the walls. This time, Kara doesn’t try to stop her. She just watches as Leslie desperately pulls as much energy into her body as she can.
And then she stalls out. She seems to have drained everything she can from CatCo. She’d need a bigger generator at a more central location to get more. Leslie slumps in her seat.
“Come here to take me away, Supergirl?” Leslie says, and her voice cracks. “You may as well. It seems I’m going to die soon.”
Kara blinks in surprise and then she’s tripping forward until she can place her hand in what she hopes is comfort on Leslie’s shoulder. Leslie jerks away from her violently and Kara retracts her hand.
“I don’t need your fucking pity! I don’t need anything from you! You made me like this! This is your fault!!”
Kara should have known. She should have known that a human prison wouldn’t be able to hold Livewire. She should have kept her at the DEO. But then again, she’s made so many mistakes when it comes to Leslie Willis that she really shouldn’t be surprised at one more. She storms past the guards, storms into the cell to find that Alex and Maggie are being particularly unhelpful. And Maggie… Maggie has the gall to suggest that maybe Kara was being hasty in her judgement? Kara knows Livewire. She knows Leslie Willis. She Knows that nothing good can come of her escape.
And most of all, she knows that getting Livewire back, is her responsibility.
“Leslie,” Kara says softly. “Please tell me what’s going on.”
“I’m dying. And the name is Livewire. Honestly, do you never listen?”
“So what, you’re dying and you decided that may as well go out with a bang? Couldn’t take it out on Cat so you’re going to take it out on CatCo?”
Leslie rolls her eyes but Kara can see her fading a little. Her eyelids are staring to droop and her heart is erratic.
“I thought it would save me.”
“What?”
“I haven’t been absorbing energy,” Leslie says weakly. “I knew it would be easier for you to find me if I did and even though you didn’t come after me immediately, I was pretty sure you were still looking. It was hard at first, like behind hungry all the time but I got used to it. And it felt nice, in a way, to be normal again.”
Now Kara knows for sure that Leslie is delirious and dying because there is no way she would tell her this otherwise.
“But I’ve been getting weaker and weaker. It was slow. At first I didn’t notice it, but it started to get worse. When I absorbed energy it got a little better but eventually even that stopped helping. I thought if I did enough, like all of CatCo, I could fix it but… well, here I am.”
Leslie laughs weakly.
“Let me help you Livewire,” Kara says. “We can fix you.”
“Ha! You made me like this Supergirl. Why would you want to save me anyway? Wouldn’t your life be easier without me?”
“Because it’s the right thing to do.”
Leslie looks up at her as her eyes blink closed. Her last words as she faints are “fucking goody-two shoes.”
Kara had been wrong. Kara had been wrong. Kara had been wrong.
She seems to be doing that a lot lately. With Mon-El and with Lena. She keeps assuming things about people, keeps getting stuck in her own head. Maggie tried to tell her. She hadn’t listened. She sees Livewire strapped down in the chair and guilt rolls through her yet again. It’s starting to become a familiar feeling around Leslie. She never seems to be able to get anything right with her.
She saves her, which feels backwards and wrong but she owes her that much at this point. And then she lets her go, in exchange for the doctor’s life. But as she heads back to the DEO she realizes that it wasn’t for the doctor’s life. She just wanted to feel like she did something right for once. Not the right thing, necessarily, but right by Leslie, who had gotten screwed at every turn thanks to Kara’s mistakes.
Kara wonders when she’ll come to regret her decision. Wonders when Leslie will prove her wrong once again. And so, she hopes and she waits.
Kara takes Leslie back to the DEO and lays her on one of the med-bay tables. Alex is at her side in an instant, hooking Leslie up and doing all sorts of preliminary tests.
“She’s alive and mostly stable for now, but she’s slipped into a coma.”
“What’s wrong with her?”
“We’re not a hundred percent sure. We’re going to have to run some tests to figure it out.”
“She said that she wasn’t using her powers at all, that she liked being normal again. Alex, she was trying to change, to be better. we can’t just let her…”
“We won’t, Kara, I promise. We’ll do everything we can to help her.”
Alex leaves a few minutes later to run some tests on Leslie’s blood. Kara sits by her bedside table and watches her sleep.
“This time,” Kara promises. “This time I’ll get it right. This time I’ll save you.”

Okay, nevermind that ‘break of the fourth wall’, misc thoughts about Maggie, let’s see...uhm...I’m very attracted to her, want to see her be more badass and snarky and I wish we could get more of her and Kara bonding. Though at the moment, with the episode they’re pairing up to save Alex, I firstly want to see Maggie ream out Kara for being a bad sister.

They’re plagiarizing their own writing from season 1 with the parallels and it’s irks me. Write something original for Lena instead of rehashing old scenes. (fair warning this comes from a place of just learning of some serious fic plagiarizing of a friend’s work so it’s not very logical, forgive me. I could like Lena but keep her romantically away from Kara please)

SUPERGIRL RANT TIME 2
CHECK OUT MY FICS ON A03 AND FANFICTION...

There’s something that doesn’t make sense with me. If it’s the more the merrier on Daxam, that implies that monogamy wasn’t the mainstream relationship standard.
If that was the case, then why did Mon get so jealous? I would think he’d be more adept in handling these types of situation. Or does that rule only apply to men who want to be with a multitude of women/men? Because I don’t think he asked Kara whether or not she was interested with Mxy. He just assumed that Kara only wanted him and that Kara was his.
Perhaps the writers should have written “On Daxam it’s whatever floats your boat.” rather than “The more the merrier.”
And onward to rant time….
I really feel like I was right during my first rant. Mon is selfish and self-serving and really the only reason he’s masking, because clearly he’s not changing, his true self is because he wants Kara.
He clearly is petulant and narcissistic. He made Jeremiah’s return all about him, disregarded Kara’s requests, and yes he was right but his drive to prove that Jeremiah was working for Cadmus stemmed from the fact that he wanted to show Kara that she was wrong. He wants to prove to Kara that she does need him.
I don’t even really think it makes sense that Mon would be so suspicious, character wise. Unless of course if you count that comment about his dad then that just means he’s practicing transference.
Which basically proves he’s making it about himself since he’s talking about his own daddy issues.
And the way Kara just forgives him after every thing? I mean I know he was right this time but he still went about things the wrong way! God, I thought Supergirl was supposed to be smart but it seems like she’s all muscle and no brain. Why does she constantly forgive him? All because she needs a hug from someone she can’t possibly break?
Dear girl, have some taste!
Carry around some low grade Kryptonite for cases where you need to not worry about crushing someone you want to hold rather than settling for the next indestructible body.
And seriously? Two months is all it took for DEO to let him shadow Supergirl as Kara freaking Danvers? And he’s complaining about that? I mean come on, they knew nothing about him and he didn’t know Earth’s customs so obviously they need to keep an eye and make sure he knows laws and things like that. Still though, two months only? That’s such bull! Everyone but Lena and Snapper knows that Kara is Supergirl like what the hell? Mon wasn’t even trying to be a hero when he came in! Yet Kara let him shadow her at CatCo from the beginning?!?!?!?!
I hope he does betray her because she seriously needs to stop being so trusting, especially when people have done nothing to earn her trust.
Unlike Lena, who saved the alien population of National City!
All Mon El did was land in a freaking pod and come from Daxam and bam, we’re all just supposed to feel sorry for him? They already made us feel like that with Kara and Kal.
And honestly, I’m tired of all these people trying to be Supergirl’s equal.
This show is about Supergirl yet we have Mon-El getting more screen time and character development than Alex and Kara.
He even asked Winn what’s left for him?
How much more self-centered can he be?
I feel like the episode could have gone better if Kara had been the one to notice that Jeremiah was being shifty rather than Mon-El. That way it could have really brought more attention to the sisters and their dynamic. Rather than Alex thinking it’s because Kara wants to stand by her man, Alex could have thought Kara was jealous that she finally has things that Kara wants, a complete family and a loving supportive and understanding partner, maybe even bring up the fact that Kara doesn’t really know Jeremiah since they only spent a year together, and the tension could extend to the next episode rather than “oh Mon-El is no longer a frat boy dudebro and he’s so intuitive” drivel that they’re trying to push.
If they had gone that route and Mon stood by Kara, helped Kara when no one else would, I would have actually grown to respect him.
Also, it’s a perfect opportunity to show, rather than yell, that Kara doesn’t need protection, what she needs is emotional support. Because we are more than a half a season in and Kara still has to yell at everyone and remind them of this.
Another instance of repetitive writing.
KaraMel just really makes me sad. Their whole dynamic just seems to be Mon screwing up and Kara forgiving him and it’s quite tiring to watch Mon and Kara make the same mistake over and over again. I understand why there are those who call this relationship abusive.
It’s extremely offensive to the characters and the audience.
Mon could have had a lot of potential if the writing hadn’t made him so unlikeable. I think what’s missing in his character, the one thing the writers must have forgotten to include, is the ability to support his actions.
Because he’s seen what Kara can do, seen what relationships are like on Earth, learned enough of the customs and behavior to stop comparing and know the differences between Earth and Daxam, yet he still behaves like he’s still on Daxam and acts like a child when he doesn’t get his way. He still demeans and disrespects Kara, often treating her like she doesn’t know the ways of the world when it’s he who doesn’t know how to function outside of Daxam’s apparently harsh environment.
He can’t back up his mistakes by using the “I’m from a different planet card” every time he makes an error anymore because that’s basically what’s been done since the beginning of the season. Now it just feels like he’s choosing to make the wrong move because he knows he’ll be forgiven for it in the end.
And yes, he was right about Jeremiah but he still went about things the wrong way. I know he tried to talk to Kara and she dismissed him. The next move he should have made was gather proof and show it to Kara rather than calling Jeremiah out in front of his entire freaking family. He only went to Winn because he was angry that Kara kicked him out. Which I don’t blame her because come on! She asked you to come to the party in peace, not raise hell.
All brawn and no brain, maybe they do deserve each other after all?
Maybe I would be more likely to forgive him for his mistakes if the writers had given him a quality that makes him stand out, one that isn’t solely tied to wanting to be with Kara. Or it could have worked if he didn’t keep verbally degrading her entire being whenever they have a disagreement.
If you like a girl for who she is, deem her fit enough for you to try and adapt to her likes and dislikes, then why would you debase her character? Does he only like that she’s strong willed with everyone else but when it concerns him she’s supposed to be some meek and docile lamb? Or is he seeking to shape Kara into a woman worthy of his affections?
We all love rebellious badasses but Mon isn’t that guy.
Alex is a badass, Maggie a super sleuth, Winn an adorkable guy, James was the ideal man before he became Batman wannabe, J’onn the brooding tragic type, Kara the hopeful heroine, Lena the determined dark horse.
I say Lena’s a dark horse because all we really knew about her in the beginning was that she’s a Luthor and she’s the underdog because yes she’s a billionaire CEO but people are out to topple her regime at L Corp, plus there’s the whole will she succeed even though she may or may not be evil thing, hence dark horse.
I think maybe he could have been the reluctant hero, but then they fudged that up once they gave him the drive to want to bone Kara.
Like I said, if they had shelved the romance with Kara until later in the series, possibly half way through next season, then he’d be the reluctant hero because his motivation to change would have been altruistic.
Perhaps they intend to make him the antihero, seeing as his desire to be a hero is because he wants to be with Kara.
If that’s the intention then I reiterate my point that they should have written him as a badass take no prisoners kind of guy rather than a whiny arrogant douche who constantly needs to apologize when he’s wrong in order to be forgiven.
Antiheroes work because most don’t need to apologize let alone explain themselves. They’re unapologetic and often have a compelling background story that makes us sympathize and care about them. I don’t know about everyone else, but I cannot sympathize with Mon because I feel like he knows enough, has been educated enough, to learn from his mistakes so he will not commit them again.
Yet he still doesn’t listen to Kara, putting his needs and desires before hers.
Antiheroes are supposed to have at least one redeeming quality but Mon doesn’t seem to have that.
I can’t say he means well because all he really means is to prove himself be the better individual. There were instances in the beginning that made it seem like he could be the reluctant hero, him punching that guy at Lena’s gala. But that’s all overshadowed by the fact that he wants Kara. Also it doesn’t work because we know he isn’t an admirable character, reiterating my point that he doesn’t have the strength to back up his actions and his beliefs. The audience is just supposed to excuse his behavior because he’s new to the planet.
But like I said, he’s been on Earth for more than six months, you’d think he’d know by now to listen to Kara?
And also, there are apparently those that believe their relationship is a realistic portrayal of how imperfect couples fight yet manage to forgive one another at the end of the day.
It doesn’t translate like that because he attacks Kara out of petulance and a need to be right and superior. Their arguments happen mostly because he doesn’t have faith in Kara or trust in Kara’s abilities. He thinks he’s right, forces the issue because he feels Kara should agree with him, debases Kara when she does not.
None of their arguments stem from a romantic standpoint! They are all about Mon-El and his desire to claim, overpower, and subjugate Kara.
Maybe that’s just how they love someone on Daxam but it’s clear that isn’t the love that Kara wants or deserves and I can’t care about him when he keeps trying to shove his antiquated ideologies down Kara’s and the audience’s throat.
There’s nothing wrong with having beliefs as long as you don’t impose them on others.
Jeez…
I know SuperCorp won’t ever happen but at least give Kara someone who deserves her, not some entitled brat.
Give Kara someone who will stand by her, occasionally question her beliefs and capabilities, but never disregards her desires and cheapens her entire character just because they wish to put themselves first.
And I read somewhere that this season, fans seem to be focusing on relationships too much and it’s created a divide. There are Karamel shippers, Sanvers shippers, and Supercorp shippers but no one’s shipping Supergirl anymore.
But if you really think about it, Kara no longer has a divide between her and Supergirl because practically everyone knows who she is. Besides there’s never been a clear separation between their identities because she’s the same hopeful trusting kindhearted and just figure as Kara as she is when she’s Supergirl. Perhaps the only real difference is the slight confidence boost.
So by Kara choosing to be in a relationship with Mon she’s making the choice for Supergirl as well. Especially since they work together.
I feel like Kara’s relationship and Supergirl’s relationship is not entirely separate from one another and that makes me even more upset. For me, the reason why I’m so invested with each of the relationships is because I’m searching for proper representation and character arcs for everyone on the show.
There are so many who could look up to Supergirl but instead they’re forced to see a grown woman acting like a prepubescent teenager.
And I understand that love can totally blindside someone, render them stupid really. But in what’s supposed to be a groundbreaking show about female empowerment do we really need to see or heroine be with someone who wants to change her? Someone who’s so quick to fault her? Someone who treats her like she’s incapable of taking care of herself? Someone who doesn’t instantly accept her? Someone she has to fight for approval?
This constant dynamic is really shameful for Kara/Supergirl’s character. It makes it seem like their entire relationship is based on the fact that they’re both trying to change each other, which isn’t healthy for either of them.
Kara seems like she’s staying because she thinks he can be better as opposed to being with him because of who he is now.
Which reinforces the belief that she only likes what he could be and that she’s putting up with all of it because she believes he will eventually turn into the man who can stand by her side. I say that’s so backward and merely enforces negative beliefs that if you wait long enough the frog will turn into the prince/princess because it’s promoting that type of mentality for young impressionable minds that watch the show.
Already I’ve seen so many people make excuses for Mon and it just reminds me of real relationships I’ve encountered where women/men lie to themselves about their partner, convince themselves that they only have to wait, that he/she will change. That they will appreciate them more. That they won’t do it again. Those are the words I’ve heard, not just on television, but in actual reality and seeing Supergirl and Kara think and feel in the same manner just breaks my heart. That’s what I mean about proper representation.
Feel free to respond and offer counterpoints. I love a good and healthy debate.
BTW….
NOOOO!!! I just found out Lena’s old flame is a dude! I’m going to cry. I love the guy in IZombie but Lena’s straight?! I feel like they’re just doing this to get people to shut up about SuperCorp. Why is there such a desire to include romance in this show?
At this point James is the only one who doesn’t have a love interest… or does he because he’s in love with being the Guardian?
RANT DONE!

Yeah unfortunately he is a pretty flat character. This funny, adorkable goofball was just at the beginning of S2, they tried to give him some character development in S3 but completely failed imo! Because in S3 where he finally got his hero arc, instead of focusing on him as an independent character all they did was side lining him. His whole purpose during these 2 seasons was basically being Kara's lil side pet which is a shame!
That's exactly what I said in another post! 😄 He did an amazing job in portraying Mon El when you think about with what he had to work with! He did the best he could with this shitty writing!
Well I don't know how much they get paid on the CW but I don't think he really needs to accept every role anymore to make a living. He probably earned enough money by now to not have to worry, so he could be more picky with his roles. True! He needs to stop to sell himself short!
That felt like the longest nightmare ever and now I’m finally awake and everything is good again. I know it makes no difference to my life but I’m honestly so happy my son is free from that god awful show and fandom.
