*at the bar*
Genma: Okay, I’ll ask: what’s up with Gai tonight?
Kakashi: What do you mean?
Kurenai: He’s crying.
Asuma: He’s been crying for two hours.
Hayate: What did you do to him, anyway?
Kakashi: Nothing!  I just —
Gai, snot flying, through his tears: HE … KAKASHI SAID THAT I’M HIS HERO! *breaks into fresh sobs* I’m not worthy of such an honor!!
Kurenai, trying to soothe Gai: There there; you know it makes complete sense for him to say that, right?
Asuma: Exactly. You’ve built yourself up from nothing, and now you’re one of the strongest shinobi in Konoha.
Genma: I don’t think there’s a person alive that could stand against you, Gai. So you being Kakashi’s hero is perfectly normal, okay?
Hayate: Not to mention your kindness, your loyalty, and your dedication to your friends.
Kakashi, in his head: I just meant because he opened that jar for me earlier but …

Naruto Love Languages (Shinobi)
Iruka Umino - Quality Time
Iruka prioritises quality time together more than anything. He knows what it feels like to be alone, and with Naruto he understood it even more. So he never wants you to ever feel like you're alone or abandoned. When you started dating he tried to see you at least once a day even for just a quick chat. And if you live together he is always ready to come right back home if you need him. It doesn't matter what he's doing, Iruka will make sure you know he's here for you no matter what. Expect a LOT of nice casual date nights throughout your relationship
Kakashi Hatake - Gift Giving
No matter how long you've been together, Kakashi can be a pain. His tardiness has stayed with him, being late to pretty much all your dates. It's gotten to the point where you tell him the date is happening an hour early so he's technically on time. And he ain't big on chores. But he makes up for it with his excellent gift giving skills. Pretty much every gift he gives you is perfection. Even though he's late a lot, he always brings you a small gift to make up for it (flowers, your favorite candy, charms, etc). Also, the moment you get into a new hobby or interest, expect related gifts falling in your lap for the next month. Kakashi wants to encourage your interests, he loves seeing the joy on your face as you experiment and try new things! And don't worry about money, he's doesn't mind spending it if it's on you
Might Guy - All of Them
Come on, he is literally Lee's clone. Of COURSE he's gonna be just as enthusastic with his partner. This man will literally do anything for you, if you need something done fast and perfect, he's your man. And be careful talking about things you show interest in. If you even imply you want that tea set from the store, you are gonna wake up with it on your nightstand. And god is he great at talking you up. Every morning is started with a speech about how amazing you are and how you'll face the day with power and youth together! Guy won't accept any negative comments you make about yourself, either. He shuts that shit down immedietely, and talks to you seriously and genuinely. Guy will always make you feel loved and beautiful, never forget that (don't worry you can't, god this man is loud)
Kurenai Yuhi - Words of Affirmation
Kurenai is incredibly caring and emotionally connected with you. She is a naturally empathetic person and with you it's clear. She always takes into account your personal opinions and desires, and never makes a decision about your relationship without your input. Your emotions mean a lot to her, and she makes it clear. Kurenai is always there to
Asuma Sarutobi - Quality Time
He is similar to Shikamaru of being a bit sluggish, just not on the level of his prodigy. Your love life is on the lowdown, but that isn't a bad thing! You like just spending time calmly with him without all the fuss. No pressure inducing grand gestures or giant surprises, with Asuma it's easy and stress free. His favorite way to spend time is just sitting and talking with you, and if you smoke, taking smoke breaks are a definite couple's activity. If you ever feel like you're hogging his time or being clingy, he'll quickly shut you down. Asuma wants to spend his life with you! Why do you think he shows up at your house so often with a rose?
Anko Mitarashi - Acts of Service
Anko is an independent woman who knows how to take care of herself. She doesn't require you to do anything for her, if you want to it's cool but she doesn't expected. On the other hand though she shows a lot of loyalty to you and always stands by your side. She respects your independence and autonomy and tries to not push too hard, but if you ever need anything she is right there in a heartbeat. Honestly, whenever you do anything she is watching intently for any sign of you needing help. You can't grab a cereal box from the top of the fridge without her already making a game plan if you fall
Tsunade - Physical Touch
With most people Tsunade isn't too fond of physical contact (well, when sober at least). She is used to being sexualized for her body by pretty much EVERYONE, so it feels like people just take advantage of her. But with you, she knows you don't see her like that. You see her as a human being! A hot human being, but a human being nonetheless. So when she's with you she adores hugging and cuddling and smooching. You are just so adorabl ein her eyes! Holding hands is an absolute must. In her eyes you are only one worthy of her hand... and massive tits. Just be warned that when she drinks she gets reeeeeeeeeally touchy and pervy
Jiraya - Words of Affirmation
I can already see some of you questioning my sanity, but hear me out. Jiraya is the famous Pervy Sage, this man loooooooves bodies. Boobies, booties, if you got it he wants it. So yes, physical touch is a BIIIIIG part of his relationships. But surprisingly, most people don't know that when he's in a serious relationship, he gets very sincere and sweet. He always is there to life you up, and pretty much compliments you all the time. Even when you feel like you look like shit, this man finds a way to make you feel like a supermodel. Jiraya isn't afraid to show his affection in public either, and proudly says "I love you" and calls you pet names anywhere you go (no matter how embarassing). But uh... yeah he's still gonna have grabby hands though, so get used to that
Hashirama Senju - Words of Affirmation
Hashirama is such a bright person and just a joy to date. He is basically a ray of sunshine no matter the weather or situation. Optimism is his religion and follows it closely. His main goal in life is to make you feel happy and loved. And you're gonna feel it god dammit. Every morning you are awoken with a sweet kiss and "good morning". He likes to tease you by saying you look better than ever, even though you clearly look like you woke up from a 3 year coma. Your pouting and annoyed face always makes him giggle like a kid, it's so cute! Throughout your relationship Hashirama will always find a way to convince you to look on the bright side of life, especially if it has to do with you. No matter how you perceive yourself or your skills, he compliments you with full genuineness. This man loves you so much, just... so much
Tobirama Senju - Words of Affirmation
Unlike his brother, Tobirama is muuuuch more tight lipped. He's stern and sharp with his words, even with you. It was a bit off-putting at first, and you used to wonder if he even liked you. One day it came to a head and you approached him and asked him outright if he hated you. This is one of the few times his composure broke, and he instantly shot the notion down. After a heartfelt conversation, from that day forward you payed more attention and noticed little things about him. You notice that when he talks to you his voice softens ever so slightly and he tries to use less intense wording. Occasionally when he walks by you'll hear a quiet compliment in your ear. He never forgets to thank you for every little that you do. And when you're alone he'll even soften up just a tad and admire your beauty. Tobirama doesn't show his affection outright and openly, but if you connect with him and noticed the little things he does, you'll truly understand his feelings
Minato Namikaze - Acts of Service
Minato is a gentleman through and through. He's gonna treat you like royalty, I'm talking laying his coat over a puddle so you can walk over it (don't worry, you eventually convince him to just let you go around the puddle instead). Obviously he is verbally respectful and sweet, but he really shows off with his usefulness. He loves to do chores with you or cook together and just talk for hours on end. If you're craving a certain food he is ready to take a stroll to the store and get it for you no questions asked. And when you're in public you can bet he's using his reputation to get you guys some special benefits. Every restaurant has a table for you guys set and ready, and store venders give you great prices. Plus NOT A SOUL will even try to bother you. They know who your love his, and they know what he will do to them. So enjoy those privileges~

Part IV
Warnings: blood, stab wound, messy medical treatment, drinking, smoking, deep talk, scars
Pink is for horny people, and princesses…you are both.
Andddd we are back!
Latibule
(n.) a hiding place; a place of safety and comfort.
………………………………………………………………………….
Smoke swirled up into the night sky, replicating the old and forgotten Uzumaki sigel. Dawn would break soon, yet I never slept.
Looking back into the room, Kakashi lay motionless on my futon. He looked at peace, younger and unaffected by the horrors we had faced since we could remember. Kakashi was a strange man, and was a stranger child in his youth.
I sigh again, turning away from him and leaning on the balcony more. Inhaling, the familiar taste of smoke filled my lungs, and after they were filled I blew the smoke out, letting it swirl once again.
“HOLY SHIT, KAKASHI!”
I rushed in, falling to my knees as I look over kakashis blooded body. He groaned, loud noises alwayed bothered him more then anyone.
“Shut up…” he mumbled, half knocked out. I scoff slightly at him as I check him over.
“You are so fucking stupid Kakashi…youre gonna die here..,” Not because I would just leave him there. No, id never do that no matter how much he pissed me off, he was going to die because he chose to go to the one Shinobi who couldn't do medical ninjutsu for shit…and he knew.
I stand up quickly, and rush to Genmas room. He was sure to have something in there, he was the medic in the house.
I open the door, and my nose curls. It’s no wonder he never brings anything girls here, he’s a slob even into his adult years. I sigh, and head to his desk to rummage.
“Come on Gen…give me something….” I open another drawer, sighing in frustration. Books he’s never opened. Scrolls he’s never used. Loose Chakra pills. “For fucks sake…!”
I open the lower drawer, and grin, “Finally.” It was a gift from Asuma, a small med kit that could fit into someone’s pocket. Genma had scoffed at it, dubbing Asuma an ass gift-giver because he had given him the same gift for Asumas birthday.
I grab the kit, and shut the drawer quickly. I stumbled over Genmas dirty clothes-or clean clothes- and rush out of his room and back down the hall to the bathroom.
“Got it!” I yell, forgetting he was unconscious. I fall to my knees before him, and with shaky hands peal the sticky skin-tight ANBU shirt. It was worse than I thought, long and gross. The skin was ripped, most likely from a curved blade. Clean going in, nasty coming out.
“Okay…okay.” I roll the kit out, and start looking for something to clean the wound-alcohol or some kind of infection killer. Shit. Whatever it was Genma must of thought it was the only good thing in the gift cause it was drunk, not even a drop remained. “Of course you used medicine alcohol as a shooter…”
I stand, and rush to the kitchen, it was a stupid idea but it might work.
I open the cabinet, grabbing the half drunk Sakè. I head back to the bathroom, and kneel once again in frog the tub. Kakashi groans, and he’s eyes squint open, “…that for me?”
My jaw tightens, and I glare at him, “you are such a fucking Baka, why did you come here of all places?”
I began twisting the cap, but my hands were slippery from the blood. I used my teeth, tasting the alcohol and blood on the cork, and he scoffed.
“Oh…I don’t know…death wish and shit…” he watches me as I pour some of the Sakè on my hands, sterilizing them. The lean over the tub, and shove his glove into his mouth, “bite.”
I pour the Sakè onto the wound, and he groans in pain. His eyes strew shut, and his head falls back against the wall but he doesn’t wiggle or thrash away. After the area is cleared of any blood, I pull away and he breaths heavily.
“Sorry…I think you deserve this.” I hold the bottle up, and he takes it. Removing the glove, he replaces it with the bottle as he greedily tries to numb the pain.
“H…how do I do this? Just…stitch you like I’m stitching a hole in a shirt or some shit?” I ask, looking up at him as I analyze the wound. He scoffs again, and with lidded eyes looks down at me.
“No…stupid…it’s different.” I scoff this time, glaring at him, “oh I’m sorry, I’ve never fucking done this genius.”
“Clearly.”
“Fuck you.”
“Not now…” he takes another sip, closing his eyes as he thinks, “you need to clean the needle first.”
“It’s never been used.” I huff, and he shoots me a glare, “right, right. Clean needle. Hand me the bottle.”
He passes it over, and I pour the alcohol on it. I pass the bottle back, and he sits it onto of his bent knee, “ya gotta thread it, then push it in at a 90 degree angle. 90 (Y/n).”
“I heard.” I snap, lining the threaded needle up against his skin. I swallow, and push it through. He winces slightly, but relaxes after its on the other side. I pull it all the way through, and wait.
“Knot it, tightly so that it doesn’t come loose but not too tight that it tears the skin. Then repeat.”
I nod, tying it. I continue, slowly but surely as my work turns less and less mediocre. He drinks, numbing himself as he stares off into space. He absentmindedly pets the cat, who had been oh so good at protecting the almost 6’ foot man who was bleeding out only a few feet away from the litter box.
I lean back, admiring my work. Tsunade always said I stitched like a drunk silk worm, but looking down at the closed wound all I wanted to do was send letter after letter to my mother’s cousin to stick it in her face.
I was not a drunk slick worm.
“So…you gonna tell me how the great Kakashi got in paled like a damn pig?” I ask, wiping my hands of his blood. He huffs, rolling his head to look at me. He’s eyes were tired, and he looked worn and beat. I didn’t know what he did on missions, the extensive stuff, but I did know it was swallowing him up and eating him from the inside.
“…classified.”
I scoff, standing and he weakly tries to protest, “(Y/n-”
“No. If you don’t want to talk about it then we won’t talk about it.” I start cleaning the needle as the sink, and the dried blood on my hands. He watches me, I could feel his eyes, and they’re sad.
“…it was the same shinobi…from that night.”
My heart stops, and so does my hands, but I slowly move my hands again under the water, “…really?”
He stays quiet, the only thing breaking the silence was the water rushing and Sakè purring. Finally he moved to stand, wincing, “(Y/n)-”
I catch him, and let his body weight flood over me like a sack of sand. I cup his face, and push his silver hair away. He frowns down at me, and he looked so old in that moment, so tired.
“I killed them…”
I frown at him, nodding, “let’s get you out of those clothes, yeah?”
“I don’t think I’ll fit into your clothes…”
“Genma can learn to share.” I help him slowly step out of the tub, and lean on me as we shuffle down the hall to my room. I let him softly flop on my futon, and he groans. He watched me as I leave, heading to Genmas nest of horrors.
I come back a few minutes later, having to thoroughly sniff check the clothes before giving them to Kakashi. Even as a Hatake, he’s nose was so much more sensitive then any Hatake or Inuzuka or anyone from my father side.
“Here, it’s not the best but it’s Gemma-” I stop, and swallow. He was passed out on my futon, shirt and pants off. I sigh, and place the clothes on my desk. I head over to him, and brush his hair back and away from his face.
I took in ever detail, every line and divot, the long scar, the mole. Everything. I never got to actually see him anymore, even with the mask, so I drank up the time greedily.
I sigh, standing up and headed to the balcony. I needed a smoke.
I boredly play with the dumpling, not really paying attention as my best friend Ichibangase Kaori ranted about the latest hot gossip circling the village. I could always count on her to keep me up to date on things while, in her words, I was “hiding in my science burrow and turning into a mole”.
“All im saying is that I just know the Hokage is hiding porn up there, he can’t possibly be working the whole time-(Y/n)? (Y/n)!” She leans over, snapping her fingers in my face. I hum, looking up. She sighs, sitting back in her seat.
“You’re distracted, and when you’re distracted you slump into your hand and then you get a mark.”
I furrow my brows, “I do not have a mark.”
She makes a face, and sips her tea, “sure.”
I sigh, pushing my short hair back, “I’m sorry…I’m just tired and you took me to lunch, it’s not fair.”
“Oh I don’t care about Lunch, gosh you apologized so much we gotta look back on that,” I make a deepened face, “all I’m saying if you work too hard, you barely get out anymore. I don’t think I’ve seen you since Gais birthday and I barely saw you!”
“It’s a lot of work! I mean, we just started this project and we’ve only just scratched the surface of this-”
“(Y/n). You work too hard. I worry about you.” She says sternly, and takes another sip of her tea. Soon, she goes back to talking.
I frown, and go back to playing with my food. She was probably right. I did work a lot.
She hums suddenly, looking up at me expectantly, “has your brother sent a message about the wedding?”
Oh yes, my oldest half brothers wedding. Soichiro was the next head of the Takamori clan in Suna, the lions of the sand. The Takamori clan and the Inuzuka clan were said to come from the same common ancestor, but even if Tsume and I had a drop of blood binding us we never seemed to agree on anything.
“He wants it the fall, won’t be excruciatingly hot then.” I responded, thinking, “it will still be hot though. It’s Suna.”
She hums, “are you excited? You haven’t been back there in two years.”
I shrugged, “I guess…”
I was excited, I had always loved visiting my father’s family in Suna. It was big, and loud, and everything my mother and i’s two-man clan wasn’t. I loved sand sledding with my older brothers, beading with my cousins, aunts and grandaunts, polishing the silver blades before my granduncle hammered them into wooded handles.
My father, Takamori Pazū, was the head of the Takamori clan, and had been since he was 10. It was war, and my grandfather had died tragically in battle leaving his wife and three children. My father took up the mantle quite quickly, and has been holding the fort down ever since.
His two sisters, Saeko and Hachi, were two of the first and youngest women to go to war and never let any of us younger kids forget. If we ever complained about the heat or being hungry or hurt one of them would always be there to say, “you think this is bad? I was in the desert for two weeks without water once. Tough it out.”
Of course, they did exaggerate, Aunt Hachi most of all. Aunt Saeko was in the war longer then Hachi, not marrying or settling down till the Suna council forced her. Hachi married young, 16, and now works with her husband’s weapons shop where they make chakra infused blades.
Saeko is head of ANBU in Suna, and won’t be retiring anytime soon from what my cousin Hachidori says in her letters.
Hachidori is Saekos only child, a seer like our Grandmother, who won’t stop telling me that I will “grow from the seed you think you’ll always be.”
Hachidori was the cousin I was the closest too, and I was glad I’d get to see her again most of all. If the council agreed to let me leave, of course.
“It’s a big “what if”.”
“Huh? But it’s your brothers wedding!” She exclaimed, frowning.
“He’s not a Senju, and he’s not from Konoha, the council won’t see any reason for me to go and put myself in danger. Konoha and Suna might be allied now, but the relationship is still strained…they wouldn’t risk it.”
She huffs, crossing her arms, “…is it because of Danz-”
I hold up a hand, silencing her. I didn’t like talking about Danzo, in any scenario-with any person.
“It’s because I am the only Senju in the village. Kaachan is in the capital and Tsunade is Kami knows where, I’m…”
“Important?”
“…yeah, let’s go with that.” I sigh again, taking a sip of my cold tea. “I’ll figure something out, throw the guilt card at them, it’s worked before.”
“You weren’t engaged before.”
I throw her a glare, silencing her.
Oh yes, rule number “idgaf” of being a princess: get engaged to someone of equal or higher class then you to make more snobby rich babies.
She sighs, tucking her straight dirty blonde hair behind her ear, “youre a Senju princess, they won’t just let you leave no matter what your dating status is…this just adds to it.”
I hum, thinking. She’s right, they won’t just let me leave…unless…
I smile at her, taking a big gulp of my tea, “don’t worry, I have someone who owes me a big favor.”

Book Club - Kakashi Hatake
Bonus Chapter - Men Are From Mars
Genma is a menace to society, Kurenai is your guardian angel, and you're going to have a hangover.
word count 1.6k (9.2k words total)
cw: alcohol use
read it on ao3 here
The next week is mostly uneventful, until Saturday. On Tuesday, it's Haruki's birthday, so you treat your team to tayaki on the way home from training; afterwards, they all beg you for ice cream, even Toshiko (who never expresses much enthusiasm for anything). An evil spirit on a higher salary than you must possess your body, because you say yes, and then you're sure to send them home to their mothers just before the sugar rush hits them.
On Friday evening, a chance encounter with Genma ends up with both of you drunk in a bar. He's incorrigible as he drags you down the street, ignoring your half-hearted protests. "Come on, (name)-chan!", he insists, shoving you through the door. He's always called you that, even after you punched him in the Academy for it. "Don't make me drink alone - that would just be pathetic."
"Here's an idea, Genma - stop pushing, you've got me in the damn building already! - you could just not drink?"
He looks positively scandalised. "On a Friday?" Kami, he's annoying, but at least he pulls out the bar stool for you once he releases his iron grip on your shoulders.
"You know that only works for jobs where you get the weekend off, right?", you insist, one last attempt to get home at a reasonable hour. He's already ordering two bottles of sake. Oh, well. If you can't fight it then you may as well accept it.
Genma has a way with getting people drunk, and within the hour you're both leaning heavily against the bar top - he's flushed red, as he always does.. You nudge him on the arm. "You look boiling. Why not take your jacket off?". You've already done so: yours was covered in dust from today's training anyway, not exactly Friday night attire. At least the long-sleeve beneath is somewhat clean.
He winks at you. "You're a woman. You know how the ladies love a man in uniform."
"Are you blind-?!", you blurt a little louder than intended, spinning on your stool to gesture out at the room, "-it's a bar on the shinobi side of town - half the guys here are wearing the exact same jacket!"
"Which means I've already got an advantage over the other half.", Genma quips, and you glare at him.
"Don't tell me you're going to ditch me to go flirt."
He pats you on the arm. "I wouldn't dream of it. I actually went out last night so I already got-" you intensify your glare and raise a cautionary finger, "...Well, you know. But, hey, that doesn't mean we can't find some romance for you, (name)-chan. That guy over there's been looking at you for twenty minutes."
Genma's voice is sickly sweet, dripping with honeyed glee. You follow his gaze over to the man and barely conceal a shiver. He was a couple of years above you at the Academy, if you remember correctly, and yet he only passed the chuunin exams last year. "Oh, please, no - you're going to have to kiss me to scare him off."
"No offence, but I wouldn't go there.", Genma replies, then sips his sake as if he hasn't just horribly insulted you. It's silly how the comment makes your pride flare - Kami knows you'd never go there either - but you can't help it, especially after alcohol. A reminder seems in order.
"You begged me to be your girlfriend when we were nine, Genma-kun."
He laughs loudly, throwing an arm around your shoulder just long enough to deter the older man. "And I never forgot how you turned me down! Good thing I'm so dashingly handsome, or my ego might never have recovered."
You scoff, half-joking. "Your ego is fine, trust me."
"And yours is fragile tonight.", he responds, gently shrugging his shoulder into you. You instantly shoot him an apologetic look, albeit a little confused - you two have always bantered, but now he sounds uncharacteristically serious. Have you upset him? "...For the record, I totally think you're hot."
You try to smack him on the arm, miss, and hit the edge of the bar instead. Genma bursts into raucous laughter again, so genuine you can't help but join in. "Please don't ever say that again.", you grin, cradling your sore palm.
"Don't worry. I wouldn't want to upset Hatake."
The smile drops off your face, and his widens even further. "No! Don't tell me you know too!". Genma has a reputation for playing matchmaker for his own entertainment, even when neither party is particularly enthused by the idea. You briefly envision him trapping you and Kakashi in a broom cupboard together, or telling Kakashi with all the good intentions in the world how much you like him.
You pluck the senbon from his mouth and wave it threateningly. It takes him a second to register the absence. "Promise me you won't say anything to Kakashi. You know he's more skittish than a deer with things like this.", you insist. Genma swallows, still smirking. "I swear I'll stick this senbon right in your-"
"Alright!", he laughs. "But I do think you guys need to get over yourselves and just confess."
"I agree, Genma."
Oh, brilliant, it's Asuma.
He emerges from the growing crowd, sliding in next to Genma and looking at you sternly. "It's been weeks already since you figured out his feelings. I know you planned to goad him into confessing first, but clearly that isn't working."
Genma slaps an enthusiastic palm onto his knee. "He's right, (name)-chan! I mentioned your name to Hatake on Monday and he choked on air. It isn't right for a grown man to act like that."
"Neither of you get it!", you reply indignantly, and wonder for a moment why you agreed to go drinking with a man who has never had a relationship last longer than a month. "If I just come right out with it so soon - oh, forget it, I need to talk to a woman about this. Asuma, where's Kurenai?"
Asuma, to his credit, barely flinches. "Kurenai? I don't-"
"Don't even try it, I know you're meeting her here-"
Kurenai appears through the door promptly. Genma high fives you without even looking. The best thing about having shinobi friends is that they hear you call them even in a crowded bar; Kurenai swans over with the elegance of a woman who hasn't started drinking yet, squeezes Asuma's forearm by way of greeting, and chuckles at you and Genma.
"Started early, did you two?" You didn't think you looked that bad. But, when you give Genma a good look, you notice that his bandana is lopsided and his drink is dangerously close to tipping out the glass.
"That's my fault, I admit it." Genma admits gleefully, never one for shame.
"Kurenai, help me-", you beg, seizing her hands. Her warm eyes crease with concern. "These stupid, stupid boys don't understand why I can't 'just tell' Kakashi I have feelings for him, rather than playing the long game."
She furrows her eyebrows, giving the boys a good long stare. "How much have you had to drink? It's Kakashi. He'd go back to ANBU before he talks about his emotions." Although Genma scoffs and rolls his eyes, you don't fail to notice how Asuma hums noncommittally when Kurenai looks at him. Fucking traitor.
"Sure, he's ridiculous, but guys just don't respond well to that weird cat-and-mouse thing you've got going.", Genma reasons. You'd take that a lot more seriously if it was anyone other than him saying it.
Kurenai takes the drink that Asuma has ordered for her with a smile. "Say what you will, but I used that same strategy on Asuma here."
Asuma blinks. "...What are you talking about? We had a mature discussion."
"We did-", she nods, sipping her drink and watching him flounder. "After flirting for two months.  You would never have confessed so readily if I hadn't laid the groundwork first." Asuma blinks again, then turns back to the bar and asks for something stronger.
"I love you.", you almost sob, dragging her into a hug. Women, Genma mutters as he turns to Asuma; you both ignore him in favour of catching up instead. It's nice to see Kurenai and even nicer to have some girl talk after an hour of Genma, but you're reluctant to keep her for too long when she's with Asuma, so you discreetly point out an empty booth on the far side of the bar after a few moments. Just as they're leaving you, she looks back over her shoulder, and you mouth tell me everything next time.
"Ah, (name), I almost forgot to mention.", Asuma calls. You and Genma both sway dangerously as you spin back around. "Kakashi wanted you to know he's expected back in the village tomorrow." All of a sudden you're filled with the urge to chase after him and grab him and shake him, and shout whatexactlydidhesaytellmetellmetellme- but that's ridiculous, and they're already gone into the crowd, and Asuma wouldn't entertain your Sakura Haruno-like-behaviour anyway.
Genma wolf-whistles, and hands you another drink. You hesitate - you can't handle your alcohol like you used to, and you're not sure if you're keen on Kakashi seeing you hungover. That won't have him in any hurry to confess. Then you remember that you'll probably see - or at least hear - Naruto tomorrow too, and that settles the matter. You drink deeply.
"So, how about you forget to wear a bra tomorrow? If that doesn't push him over the edge, I don't know what will."

Sneeze
Rai was out with Anko and Kurenai at a restaurant. The girls were chatting over their food. Rai suddenly made a high pitched sneeze into the elbow of her long sleeve shirt.
Anko and Kurenai turned to look at her.
“That was cute.” Anko commented as a mischievous grin crossed her face. “Kakashi must be talking about you.”
Rai lifted her head and looked at Anko in shock. Noises came from her throat as she fought her embarrassment. “Sh-shut up!” She wound up stuttering as she looked off to the side bashfully as heat rose to her face.
“Anko, don't tease her.” Kurenai told her.
Anko turned and grinned to Kurenai, “Awe, but she's so adorable when she's flustered.”

Another doodle of jonins ☺️☺️☺️
Tumblr media
Include my OC Kurita, yes thats Kurenai and Asuma being Uwu together. My headcanon that Kurita is bestie with Anko and Kurenai (like they’re the only living kunoichi jonin whelp I forgot Shizune, maybe next time) I wanna draw more of the jonins, they need some love too, beside Kakashi of course (I’ve drawn a bunch of him lol).
The long hair Yamato is based on DygoKnight’s naruto rewrite, he scraps Sai out of the picture and made Yamato into a douche lol, but he got his character arch where he turn to liking his team mates Sakura and Naruto. Although I still love my OG Yamato but I do love Yamato keeping his long hair!

How They Found Out |Naruto Boys X Reader| HC
Tumblr media
Characters: Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto Uzumaki, Shikamaru Nara, Kakashi Hatake
Summary: How your relationship ended up being revealed.
Warnings: Naruto's is short af because he's an open book. Deal with it. NSFW themes. Mentions of sex and being caught. Part Two
- - - - -
Sasuke Uchiha
You'd been together for about a year at this point. In the beginning, you'd agreed to keep it hush-hush until you'd figured things out.
Before you knew it, it'd been more than six months since your first date, and it was still secret. You enjoyed the privacy of it, but didn't enjoy hiding things from your friends.
So you decided to stop actively keeping it a secret and instead allow things to come out naturally.
But that was six months ago and still no one knew.
Sasuke hated PDA and no one had asked either of you about relationship stuff, so it was still quiet.
That is until today.
You two were victims of Narutos' lack of boundaries and awareness.
It was late at night, about 11pm, you were in Sasuke's apartment.
He was drilling into you, his hands holding down your legs and mouth connected to your neck.
You were too busy enjoying the all encompassing feeling of him fucking you, and he was too busy ravaging you to hear Naruto enter the front door.
Suddenly, the bedroom door swings open. Narutos face very quickly goes from his usual happy-go-lucky to a horrified, dramatic look.
Sasuke is quick to cover you with the sheets before he yells at Naruto to get the Hell out.
Naruto is already way ahead of him, bolting straight out the front door and to God knows where.
After that, it wasn't long before the whole village knew. Honestly, once Gai found out, there was no one who didn't know.
Naruto Uzumaki
Find out? Ha! There is no finding out because he immediately told anyone and everyone the second you agreed to a date.
If he did somehow manage to keep it quiet, it really wouldn't be long until it got out.
Hes just so... excited to be with you.
He likes showing you off like a prize. He likes going on dates and holding your hand and loudly proclaiming that you're his.
You don't mind, of course.
Shikamaru Nara
You two lay around together most days. A while back, you shared a kiss, and it very VERY slowly escalated from there.
It was almost six months before you actually had sex.
Mostly because he'd somehow rationalized kissing was "just something you guys did" and didn't require any extra thought.
The sex was amazing. Slow and passionate, just like you'd expect from the lazy Nara.
And so things continued on like that. A relationship had formed, but it was never something either of you talked about.
You liked his parents and they liked you. You'd help his mom with dinner some nights and played Shogi with Shikaku. They didn't question your relationship either.
Things stayed on the down low for almost eighteen months before someone finally brought up something regarding his romantic life.
"So, Shikamaru, who was your first kiss?" Choji asked one night in the bath house.
The question caught him off guard since he wasn't usually included in these types of conversations. (They mostly assumed he wasn't interested in women, or something like that.)
"Hm? Oh, Y/N."
Cue the silence. Then total chaos.
"What?? When was this?" Kiba asked.
"I don't know... sometime around the solstice last year."
That sparked a lot of questions from his friends, only some of which he'd answered.
The guys relayed all the information to the girls the next day, where they then went and hounded you for answers.
Despite all of your friends knowing about your relationship, nothing changed between you and Shikamaru.
You just stayed... whatever it is you were.
Kakashi Hatake
Gai, Kurenai, and Iruka all had their suspicions about you two but had nothing to back it up. It's been years at this point, yet they still come up empty-handed.
That is, until Kakashi’s students decided they were interested in his love life, and began to poke around.
It's after the war; Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke are fully grown adults, but something is just so tempting about reverting to their youthful days of trying to spy on their sensei.
Kakashi is all for it, partially because he's glad his students are getting along again, and partially because he's grown tired of keeping secrets.
This is something he discusses with you, and as he predicted, you're completely on board.
You gradually make yourself seen with Kakashi over the next week- leaving the Hokage tower with him, getting dinner with him, and even allowing him to walk you to his apartment.
The kids watch all of this happen, but there's no evidence that actually proves anything, just like Gai sensei had told them in the beginning.
So they continue to stalk you two around the village. They're better at it than when they were little, but it's still pretty easy to spot them.
At the end of the week, when you're sure all three of them are watching, Kakashi kisses you in front of your front door.
You watch as they all zip away, surely off to meet up or possibly report back to your friends.
You and Kakashi can only laugh.

Kakashi x Jonin! Reader
Summary: Takes place after Shippuden during Kakashi’s term as Hokage. He asked you to house-sit for a few days. You're more than happy to help but you do end up snooping around. And to your delight, you find an unpublished book.
Extra: Happy birthday Kakashi! Ahem… Sorry so.. F. Reader, Jonin reader, Reader is described as shorter than Kakashi. Nothing too salacious, very suggestive, but nothing really explicit. But just in case 18+ content (MDI)
Wc- 2.2k
Tumblr media
You were rifling through Kakashi’s things when you first saw it. The book was a blush pink, with beautiful Kanji decorating the front in elegant swirls. When you looked it over to see the author you almost dropped it. Jiraiya!? You could have sworn you’ve read all of his work. Despite what people had said he was a surprisingly good author, his penmanship getting you through despreate lonely nights. Why hadn’t you seen this on shelves? Why was the cover starkly different from his other works? You were absolutely going to find out.
With the Hokage in Takigakure for a couple of days, you figured he wouldn’t miss the book. You placed the novel in one of the various pockets of your vest. It was an unorthodox use of the body flicker but it served you in finishing the tasks he’d ask of you. Plants were watered, trash was incinerated and his letters tidied. Anticipation burned underneath your skin. So much that you waved Genma off when you saw him on your way home through the market. Eager to get to your apartment and leaf through your find.
Once out of your uniform you plopped onto your couch and turned the cover. You were a page in when you met the main character—the son of a distinguished samurai family. “Is this a self-insert” You mumbled, turning the page as the boy’s snowy locks were described, his eyes the shade of charcoal. The first two chapters were brief, mostly about the young boy's formative years when he trained and studied rigorously. His only reprieve was when he could steal away to play with the hounds.
In the second chapter, he meets someone who the book only refers to as the seamstress’s daughter. A young girl his age, with a missing tooth, her small fingers covered in bandages. She didn’t know how to wield a tanto, didn’t know how to play shoji, and she didn’t know why her mother was so concerned when she bumped into the young lord. A clueless girl is what the samurai in training called her and he spent the entire summer trying to teach her what he knew. Whenever she wasn’t sewing buttons, she watched him train or squealed alongside him as they played with the pups.
Their summer came to a close in the third chapter, after a training session landed her in the river, a weeping gash on her leg that left her in hysterics. They weren’t allowed to play together for the remainder of her stay. But the young lord would always sneak away to find her. Days before her departure he rushed into the workroom, her threaded needle dropped to the ground, and a gap tooth smile beamed at him as he showed her his new puppy. “Is that Pakkun?” You mumbled as the small pug was described. But soon he waved off his friend, clutching a lock of her hair.
You jumped at the knock on your window. Your heartbeat settled when you noticed that it was Kurenai and her little girl. You had a bad habit of dropping your guard in Konoha, especially in your home.
“Did you forget?” She asked once you opened.
“Yeah, sorry” She looked down at your hand and you pulled up the book sheepishly. “Got distracted.” She rolled her eyes, a smile playing on her lips as she handed Mirai over.
“Well don’t get too distracted, she already ate but if she gets fussy there’s a food pouch in here. I’ll be back as soon as I can. It’s just an escort to Shukuba.” She hands you over a bag and wraps her arms around your shoulders in a hug, careful of Mirai. “Thanks again for watching her.”
“Don’t even worry about it.” You smiled, bouncing the baby in your arms. “Take care!” You’re then left with the little Sarutobi, her tiny fingers hooked into the fabric of your shirt, as she blinks up at you, babbling incoherently “Eeeee you're so cute!”
Your reading is put on hold as you watch the little one. And as the hours tick by you grow a bit impatient. You don’t know when Kakashi is due to come back, he said a couple of days, and you're heading into the fourth tomorrow. Will he notice his missing book if he comes back early? What if you don’t finish it in time? Maybe you could make a substitute? But if he picks it up? This time you sense Kurenai before she arrives, Mirai hadn't fallen asleep in the time it took for her to come back and you weren’t comfortable with taking your eyes off her while she was in your care.
      “How was it?” You ask.
“Uneventful. Hello, my love.” Mirai laughs when you hand her over and after a bit of chatter and ‘thank yous’ they leave. You lean against the door after, wondering what it’d be like to be fully responsible for a child. You don’t think you want to be a mother but if…
“And that’s enough of that!” You cut your thoughts off, not imagining a life where you are your Hokage’s wife. Nope! You're not thinking of him!  “Ugghh! So what?! Who doesn’t think Kakashi is hot.” You mutter, grabbing the pink book from your desk. ‘It’s not like I want him or anything!’ You head into the bathroom and prick your finger, summoning the smallest speaking snake of your summons kin. “Should have done this earlier. Can you read this for me?”
“You know that’s not what we’re for.” He sighs.
     “I’ll give you Takoyaki.”
That’s all you had to say. Your summon clears his throat as you peel off your clothes to shower. In the following chapter, after the girl’s departure, he fulfilled his duty by becoming a Samurai. He meets new people and fights great battles with her hair keeping him company throughout his travels. It's during an escort that he finds himself in her hometown. And while his comrades celebrate with drinks he slinks off to find his old friend. He finds her at the shop he remembers her telling him about.
She’s older he notes. “Obviously” You interrupt, lathering your hair with shampoo. Your summon frowns at you and you allow him to continue. The samurai is taken by her full smile, his heart racing when her arms bring him close. They reminisce about their childhood, trading stories he’s almost forgotten. He’s laughing, a bit embarrassed when she reminds him of when he jumped into a thorn bush to avoid being it. He had to meet the new Daimyo with torn trousers.
Their time together was short as it always seemed to be. He promised to return the next day. But when he does he does not find her. Asking around he’s horrified to hear the news. He finds himself in the pleasure district a couple of towns over. The samurai is more than upset when he sees her painted face, climbing up the window to ask why she hadn’t told him of her financial troubles. His clueless friend. His secret love had just been sold to a brothel to pay off her father debt. His gambling addiction had almost cost them their store. She reassured him informing him that her contract was only for two years.
He wasn’t pleased. If he’d have known she could have avoided this. He could have paid it off. He wouldn’t have asked for anything in return. Except perhaps a kiss.
“Oh, now I get it.” You stepped out of the shower, strands still wet as your summon held the book open. “He commissioned it. That’s exactly the type of cheesy trope he’d like.” Still in your towel, you made good on your promise and heated some left-over Takoyaki. “They’re so much better fresh.”
After the snack your summon left you and you settled into your bed to keep reading. The Samurai expressed his feelings letting his friend know the extent of his care. He would buy her contract, but she would not allow it, she would not burden her dear friend. She couldn’t fathom him spending so much for so little. And, he couldn’t understand why she was being so stubborn. He tells her she can pay him back if it’s too troublesome. ‘You don’t mean’ she stutters. You grin knowing where this is going.
“Leave it to Jiraiya to find a way to get them to-” The next paragraph steals your attention, that is the exact color of your lips, skimming over the dialogue, your prediction comes true but you're not focused on that. You’re focused on the descriptions. And when the courtesan's clothes come off your jaw drops. It was like ‘staring’ into a mirror. She has your exact proportions, the Samurai ‘Kakashi’ your mind supplies, kisses down the expanse of her torso, down every dip and curve. And every scar, freckle, and blemish matches.
You should’ve known since the beginning of the story. And your face burns when you keep reading, your teeth catching your bottom lip as you read about Kakashi ravishing you. You don’t hear your window open.
“Ma~ That doesn’t belong to you.” You shriek, chucking the book at him before getting into a defensive stance. Kakashi’s dark eyes curve in amusement when he catches it.
“Shit! Kakashi what the fuck!” The wind from the open window picks up the fabric of his white robes. “Fuck! I mean lord Hokage! Um, W-what brings you here?”
He doesn’t answer, instead, he leafs through the half-read novel. “How far did you get?” You try to collect yourself, your fingers dig into the material of your towel as you grip it shut. Eyes flickering across your room as your brain tries to come up with something.
“Um… K- T-the Samurai just got to Shukuba town.” You stutter.
“Hm. It’s not called Shukuba in the book.”
“Did I say that? I misspoke.” Your voice is strained, and the tips of your ears are on fire.
“Did you?” He asked, stepping toward you. You can’t seem to focus on his face, your eyes dancing across his striking form. He’s closer now, so much so that you can feel the heat coming off his body. ‘Was he always this tall? And when the hell did he pull down his mask!?' ’ His fingers are cool against your cheek. And his deep voice saying your name snaps you from your trance. “I asked you something.”
“What?” You’re breathless, and you look up at him clearly flustered. “Oh, No? I mean yes? What did you ask?” You feel his breath ghost across your lips when he laughs. His thumb comes under your chin when you try to look away. The vertical scar dragging down his left eye takes your focus and you steady yourself. You breathe out allowing Kakashi to take you in. You don’t know why you never noticed him looking at you like that. “We never um… That never happened when you came to see me in Shukuba town.”
“No. No, It didn’t but I wanted it to.” He replies. “The disguise suited you. This suits you too.”
       “What this towel?” You snort.
“I wasn’t talking about the towel.” Your brows furrow in question. “This expression.” You don’t get to reply, your words dying in your throat when his lips press to your forehead. You’re sure he could feel your temperature spike, and you gasp when his thigh slots in between your legs. “Suits you.”
       “Ka-Kakashi?”
“Hm?” You can’t seem to concentrate under his intense stare.
“So… You’ve liked me this whole time?” Your voice wavers.
“This whole time.” He parrots, his cheeks dusted pink. “Sorry?” You can feel that he’s about to step back and your arms loop around his neck to keep him close.
“Don’t apologize. I like you too.” Your grin is a bit shy and your heart is racing when his nose bumps against yours. Your mind is reeling, you can’t believe this is real but your thoughts are swiftly silenced when his lips press against yours. He’s barely pulled away when your brining him back, tilting your head to deepen the kiss. Your gasping into his mouth when his tongue licks into your mouth. His fingers are at the back of your head pressing you closer, his other hand trailing down your side. His fingers squeeze your soft flesh, swallowing your soft moans.
You tug at the zipper on his vest, and he pulls back his face flushed, pupils dilated. He lets you zip down the zipper, his hands on the fold of your towel. “Can I?” You nod allowing him to pull the fabric, letting it slide down your body onto the floor. He’s on you in seconds, your back making contact with the sheets of your bed. You're helping him pull off his clothes between kisses and you can’t help but ask. “Can.. Can I finish the book later?”
“Why?” He hums against your jaw.
“Mmm What do you mean why?” You sigh, when his calloused palms massage your breasts. “I wanna know how it ends” You finish your sentence against his lips, His soft chuckle causes them to brush against his.
“It ends like this.” he smiles, and his fingers send shivers down your spine when he trails them down your sides. His bare skin sliding across yours almost makes you forget to ask.
       “Like wha-”
His next kiss is sweet, unhurried, and devout. And he pulls back to gaze into your eyes. “You’re so clueless sometimes.” His eyes are two small crescents “It ends with me and you.” He presses another fiery kiss to your lips with a sigh. “Together.”

ShikaTema is the Best Love Story in All of Naruto.
Okay, so Kishimoto and Ikemoto might do better with Boruto. However, as far as Naruto is concerned, ShikaTema is the best love story hands down. Let me explain.
Naruto x Hinata - Naruto spent 19 years either being oblivious to Hinata's existence or thinking she was weird.
Sasuke x Sakura - This relationship was so abusive that it was borderline criminal. I'm glad it's better now. I like Sarada, but Sasuke did not deserve a wife.
Sai x Ino - This is one of the better love stories. They kind of hit it off from the beginning in a lot of ways. However, aside from the light novel, we don't know much about it.
Asuma x Kurenai - Also, one of the better love stories, but we kind of just saw that they were together one day. Then before we know it, Asuma dies before the birth of his daughter.
Minato x Kushina - Another one of the better love stories. However, we were kind of rushed through the love story, because their entire love story was told in the past for obvious reasons.
Obito x Rin - I guess this is a good love story. I mean it almost ended in the destruction of the ENTIRE world, and Rin was in love with Kakashi the entire time, but what can you do? Did Rin and Obito end up together romantically? I have no idea. In death, Obito reverted back to his 13-14 year old self and spent eternity with 13-14 year old Rin. Yes, that's kind of romantic, but let's be honest, they can only be so romantic before it just becomes creepy and inappropriate (assuming the never age).
Now, the big one: Shikamaru x Temari.
I mean one could argue that this love story began with Temari fought Ten Ten. It was the first time Shikamaru noticed Temari. He took one look at her, and said that she had already beat Ten Ten. Naruto asked Shikamaru how he knew that, and Shikamaru said that he would not tell Naruto if Naruto couldn't figure it out himself.
Shikamaru vs Temari is the first time that Temari noticed Shikamaru, and she was utterly unimpressed with him until the very end of the fight when she realized that she was about 2 seconds for losing if Shikamaru had larger chakra reserves. From that point on, Shikamaru was never far from her mind.
Fast forward, these two lovely characters don't see each other again until Temari has to save Shikamaru from Tayuya. Shikamaru underestimates Temari's abilities, and Temari effortless kills Tayuya with her wind scythe jutsu. After seeing this, Shikamaru compares Temari to his mother.
This is important, because earlier, Shikamaru had asked his father why he married his mother, and Shikamaru's dad was basically like, "A good woman can change you."
Aside from a broken finger, Shikamaru visits the hospital to see how his severely injured friends are doing. Temari scolds him for being too emotional, because it seems as though Shikamaru is about to give up.
Shikamaru's like, "I don't need all this smoke." He gets up to leave, and his father is basically like, "You coward, are you going to let this woman talk to you crazy and all your comrades die in the future."
Shikamaru starts crying and this is the first time we see Temari show genuine concern and empathy for Shikamaru.
The next episode, I believe, Shikamaru is the one to see Temari and her brothers off from the Leaf Village as they head back to the sand.
Now, I'm going to fast forward to Shippuden. Yes, there's a filler arc in which Shikamaru saves Temari from another wind user. Upon returning to the Leaf, I believe Temari helps Shikamaru in the ninja academy with the students, and Shikamaru sees off the Sand Sibling again. You get the point.
Moving onto Shippuden, the first time we see Shikamaru in the village, we see him with Temari. Naruto keenly asks if the two of them are dating. Both Shikamaru and Temari think the assertion is hilarious, but it's actually pretty accurate.
Why, because without going through an entire play by play of every time Shikamaru and Temari were together in Shippuden, I will say this. If there's a Naruto episode with Temari in it, there's about an 80-90% that Shikamaru will be in that episode too, and that he will interact with Temari in some way.
For example, the war arc episode in which Konohamaru challenged Temari to a fight. Shikamaru did not need to be in that episode. Yet, Moegi and Udon went and found Shikamaru, so that Shikamaru could break up the fight. That was when Shikamaru said how scary Temari actually was.
There's even a shot little bonus video in which Shikamaru said, "What if it was Shikamaru Shippuden instead of Naruto Shippuden?" The an opening screen appears on the screen, and there's a silhouette of Shikamaru and Temari on the opening screen.
Temari is a long distance combat specialist. I feel that Shikamaru is mid-distance at best, but yet, both of them were in the same exact campaign during the war, and where was Temari? She was standing right next to Shikamaru.
When Shikamaru got caught up in the infinite genjustu, he dreamt of Temari by his side as they mutually agreed that marriage sucks.
My point is, as I skip a ton of points, Kishimoto had built up a relationship between these two characters for nearly 20 years. Mind you, that these characters DO NOT live in the same village. Temari has very little screen time. She has so little screen time, that she has a new outfit dang near every other time that we see her. However, the majority of the screen time she does have is with Shikamaru. The relationship between these two was set long before the light novels from Shikamaru were even considered.

1,2,3 - you can count on me - Kakashi x Reader
A/N: Reader could be seen as a Ex-Root-Member?
tagging: @revasserium because your Zoro piece is still in the works
Tumblr media
1.
Falling in love had always been such a mystery to Kakashi.
He never knew his parents as a couple, but he’d seen how Minato acted around Kushina and even Asuma and Kurenai had acted as unwanted examples of something he never really understood.
There was a point in friendship, that he understood. He had friends, he liked having friends and he would sooner give his life than betray these friendships. But love?
Love was something for people who had less trauma to carry, for those who did not wake up at night screaming or gasping for air or wishing to go back in time and switch places with a friend.
But here he was, staring dumbfoundedly into a cup of tea he was preparing.
He didn’t even like tea that much but he had more than enough at home - because he was in love - and knew how to make it just the right way - because he was in love.
He blew softly at the rising steam and set it down at the table in front of you.
“There you go.” He said softly and watched in fascination as you lifted the cup, brought it to your face, and sniffed before taking the first sip.
Kakashi had half a mind to wonder if you had noticed his beginning crisis in the kitchenette or if you noticed how utterly pathetic he was being, besotted by something as ordinary as you drinking tea.
Was that what love was? More than just knowing the tiny things that made you you - because he knew a lot about Guy as well and he did not enjoy that knowledge half as much - but being moved by that knowledge?
He knew how you liked your tea and when you liked it.
You’d mentioned once that going through mission reports was much more enjoyable with a cup of tea and ever since then he’d been careful to always have enough of it at hand.
You preferred white tea over black and jasmine over green and it was a testament to both his attentiveness and foolishness that his cupboards were filled with both white tea and jasmine.
He’d thought that your sniffing was a testament to your past - always attentive and always on your toes, never taking a simple beverage for granted lest it could have been poisoned - but realized that it wasn’t just that.
It was - and he’d never admit that out loud - cute.
.
2.
Kakashi would never have thought that in a relationship with him, he’d be the saner one.
But here he was, going to argue with Tsume over something that could have been thoroughly avoided if only he could have been a fool at the right time. But he wasn’t.
“Why do you need another puppy?”
Inuzuka Tsume looked at him as if he had just pissed onto her shoes.
“It’s not for me.”
Wrong answer. Absolutely wrong answer. Her eyebrows were doing things they shouldn’t be able to do.
“Look.” He said and he cringed at the way his voice sounded. He sounded like he was begging. Which he was, kinda, but that was beside the point. “I came to you because I know you can keep a secret.”
Tsume blinked. That was a good sign. She had not kicked him out of the house yet.
“I am seeing someone.” Tsume blinked again, more rapidly this time. That wasn’t as good a sign as the first one, but he soldiered one. “And she’s well… I want to give her a puppy. It would be our anniversary, kind of and she never had a pet before and she loves the dogs but they are Ninken and not pets, and well, I heard you’ve got a new litter. It would mean the world to her.”
“You don’t want to give her a Ninken and you came to me?” Tsume asked, her voice carrying a weird pitch he did not like.
“Well, I was hoping you’d have like an odd one of the bunch or something like that.” Her mouth did something he really did not like and he backpedaled right away.
“Or better yet, she can raise it to be a Ninken, which was my first idea anyway. She would bond so much more with it that way.”
“She’s here? Not on a mission?”
“Uh, no.” Where was this going?
“Be here at three. Don’t be late.”
“It’s actually a surprise-” He started but she threw him a glare that shut him up.
“Don’t be late.” She reminded him again.
-
They were late by thirty minutes but Hana opened the door and Kakashi considered that evening it out. Hana sent him a look that told him that she knew exactly what was going on here but she stepped aside and smiled at you.
“Hi, are you excited?”
“I don’t know.” You truthfully explained, your bluntness another reminder of why he’d fallen in love with you in the first place.
The puppies were in a separate room, six fat little bundles of fur and noise, running around each other and play fighting their brothers and sisters.
Kakashi could tell right away that you were overwhelmed. He had wanted to avoid just that, had planned to pick the dog out himself, knowing you’d get in your head about the choice and what it all entailed and what did one do with a dog anyway?
“Hey.” He grabbed your elbow and pulled you back towards himself until his chest pressed into your back. “Why don’t you take a seat in the kitchen and we’ll bring them to you, one by one?”
“Is that possible?” You asked and Hana nodded slowly. “Mom’s in the kitchen. Just go right through there.”
Kakashi wasn’t sure if leaving you alone with Tsume was the best idea but Hana was waving at him to move and pick one of the puppies up and you had already left anyway, eager to get away from the noise.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Hana asked as he looked down at the dogs. Akamaru’s white fur had mixed with the black of the mother, leaving five of them with interesting patterns of black and white and one slightly smaller one who was a soft grey. He picked him up instantly and Hana threw him a look.
“Not that one. Kiba wants him for himself.”
Kakashi sighed and put the little one down, picking up another one instead that had a black streak right under his nose, making him look like he’d grown a beard.
But as they walked through the door towards the kitchen, a lithe black body pressed through the door that led to the garden.
It was a large dog, it’s fur completely black. Kakashi could instantly tell that it had been a powerful Ninken but it had grown old, its shoulders sagging a little as it walked. Hana tensed next to him and Tsume, seated at the kitchen table opposite to you, looked at the dog approaching them.
“What is it, Ume?” She asked the dog that stopped, looked at Tsume, and then turned towards you with a determination that scared Kakashi.
“What is she-” He started but Tsume threw him a glare.
The dog stopped in front of you, seized you up, and put his head on your lap without a moment of hesitation.
Silence fell over the table as you looked down at the massive head that covered your legs.
“What do I do?” You asked, your shoulders stiff.
“You can pet her,” Tsume said, but the pitch of her voice was too wobbly for someone as headstrong as her.
Kakashi watched, utterly fascinated, as you lowered one of your hands and carefully caressed the soft fur between the eyes of the dog.
“Hello Ume,” you murmured. The dog let out a low whine and your head snapped up right away, your eyes searching for Kakashi.
“She likes it.” He tells you softly. “She doesn’t talk like Pakkun.”
He barely notices that Hana takes the puppy from his arms nor that Tsume grabs his elbow and pulls him towards the table.
“Ume,” Tsume starts, “Was Takumi’s dog. He died a few weeks ago.”
Your hand on Ume’s head stills softly.
“I’m sorry.” You tell her and she nods, her eyes not leaving the dog. “Ume’s too old to train with someone else. She was too old to go on missions either but Takumi still took her with him anyway. She’s been refusing contact with anyone but me and she only let me feed her and that was all. She’s been griefing. The fact that she’s choosing you of all people to touch her…” Tsume stops and you look up but not at her, your eyes searching Kakashi’s as if to ask for approval.
“My mother’s name was Ume.” You explain softly. “Grief recognizes grief sometimes.”
You look at Kakashi again, another silent conversation. Kakashi wonders when he started to become the saner one in their relationship. The voice of reason in this mess.
“She’s old.” He tells you softly when looks alone can’t spell out what needs to be said. “She should stay with Tsume.”
Tsume looks at him with furrowed brows then back to you.
“You want to take her?” There’s no saying what that tone means. But with Tsume, every tone is a dangerous tone.
“Why would I take a puppy if this dog needs love?”

3.
If Kakashi had to describe you in three words, stubborn would be one of them.
He’s seen you stare down anyone and anything. Sometimes it’s cute.
Right now it’s a bit more concerning.
“Why are you staring at the pot?” He asks. His hands itch to hold your waits but first he needs to make sure you’re going through something. Last time he’d been a bit too blind to the signs and ended up with a Senbon in his thigh. Good times.
“I read that if you look away for a second, the milk tends to boil over.”
“Okay?” Kakashi takes a step closer. It’s not unreasonable to not want the milk to boil over. Carefully, cautiously, his hands inch closer to your waist. You sense him coming and lean into him, your focus never wavering.
“What are you cooking milk for?” He asks, content now that he has you in his arms. He drops his nose in the crook of your neck and inhales, pretending to sniff you exaggeratedly to get you to laugh. It works like a charm today and your laughter rings through the kitchen, making more than up for the fact that you’re still not letting the pot out of your sight.
“I wanted to try a new recipe. Hinata mentioned that Hot Chocolate is good for the Soul. I’ve never tried that before.”
“You’ve never tried Hot Chocolate before?” Kakashi’s careful to keep his voice neutral. You don’t take kindly to a tone that might sound of pity. He’s never pitied you once in his life, but he does occasionally sound like it, it seems.
“Have you?” You ask, pulling his arms a little tighter around you. Ah. Sensitive topic.
“Occasionally.”
“Tell me about it.”
Memories wash over him. His father used to put Cinnamon into it, a testament to his late mother. Rin always brought bars of chocolate on long missions, and melted them down in a cup of water if there was no milk around.
His breath hitches. The last cup of Hot Chocolate he shared with his Sensei, just a few days before Naruto was born. The one and only Cup of Hot Chocolate he managed to bribe Itachi with, tense silence as he tried to make sense of the younger boy.
Warm lips press onto his. You breathe into him, pull him out of his memories. He blinks, only to realize that he’s still here, that you’re still with him.
You don’t ask if he’s okay. He doesn’t have to pretend he is.
For a moment that’s all there is, the shared of comfort of each other's body being close, the well-known taste of lips you’ve learned to love.
Something heavy nudges him to the side, breaks the two of you apart.
Ume whines loudly.
“The milk!” You gasp and whirl around. The pot sits calmly on the stove.
Kakashi steps closer, furrows his brows.
“Honey,” He can’t help smiling. “You have to turn the stove on too.”

summary: The genin accidentally kiss their crush. Chaos ensues.
Uchiha Sasuke
Oh, he’s gonna have a fit. Bonafide. He was super pissed and embarrassed when he accidentally kissed Naruto, so imagine if it was with a person that he actually liked. Yeesh, I’m so sorry. I think he would at first react in a quite nasty way, not out of malice but out of self-defense and insecurity. Remember, throughout his entire Academy education, all of the girls in his class were on him about their crushes. Pretty blatantly. I think this would definitely have some negative impact on how Sasuke views crushes at the age of a genin.
He would realize his colossal accident, though, when you were very upset. He really didn’t mean to do that, he’s really just lashing out. You would run away, and I don’t think he would chase after right away, instead trying to run into you at a later point. He would apologize after having sense beaten into him by Kakashi, and you can really tell it's hard for him to be open about this kind of stuff, so you accept it, acknowledging that neither of you are truly at fault. Sasuke’s relieved that you two can continue to be friends and get to know each other more, even if he’s gonna keep bottling up his feelings somewhat. I think you would definitely notice that his apology was still out of character, perhaps putting two and two together?
Uzumaki Naruto
Now, I think he would react the opposite of how he did when he accidentally kissed Sasuke. Instead of being grossed out that he ended up kissing someone he had no romantic feelings for, I think the poor boy would be flustered beyond all belief. Like, he would be the one to run away. After the sheer panic wore off, I think he would cackle like a mad man and immediately go brag to his team that he kissed the person he has a crush on. None of them would believe it and would grill him on what happened, leading them into discovering it was an accident.
The entire team is going to lambast Naruto for what happened and force him to go tell you that he’s sorry, but they’re quite shocked to see you come up to him to apologize before he got the chance. With a hand behind his head and a grin on his face, Naruto would accept, perhaps saying something really idiotic like how maybe it was fate or something like that, or how he doesn’t regret that it happened, especially with a close friend of his.
Hyuga Hinata
Oh look, you’ve killed her. Actually, though, she would probably flush so fast that the rush of blood to her head would make her dizzy. Immediately you would stammer out an apology, watching her stutter and try to process what just actually happened. If you were to try to place a reassuring hand on her shoulder or anything like that, please don’t. It will make it worse. Kiba, Shino, and Kurenai, her personal protection detail, would be on you in seconds, however. Shino and Kurenai would be working on getting out of her what happened while Kiba would yell at you about what happened.
I think after a couple of seconds, Hinata would be able to recover and explain the situation through her stammer. Earnestly, you would apologize to the entirety of Team 8, especially to Hinata. You would bow to her, anything to make sure that she knows that you didn’t mean to hurt her in any way. She is barely able to tell you that it was just an accident and that everything is alright before running away, her team on her heels and you left completely stunned.
Rock Lee
Rock Lee is way too polite to do anything other than pull away immediately and start apologizing. Don’t get me wrong if you didn’t express any discomfort at the situation, I think Lee would be ecstatic. But Might Guy one hundred percent had him on respect women juice from infancy. So he’ll be as chivalrous about it as possible. Expect Tenten and Neji to drag Lee away as he’s crying, having thrown himself on the ground for your forgiveness. The other two will also profusely apologize for Lee as they end the situation.
The next time you see Lee, he has a bouquet of flowers as an apology that he got from Ino. And his face is all scraped and bandaged up. You can’t help but feel a little bad about his injuries, and you genuinely weren’t upset about the accident, so you forgave Lee. His face would break out into a blush, and I see him shooting his shot with you for real, turning the giving of the bouquet from an apology into a declaration of love. Might Guy would definitely be rooting for him in the background, hidden away, crying over youthful love.
