All of Kakashi's friends have one thing in common: they do not give a fuck about their reputation. They do not care what you think of them. Kakashi and Gai are as eccentric as they come and most of what you say to them is going to just slide right off and Kurenai and Asuma will just straight up shrug you off for questioning their feelings, motives etc [see: them ignoring Iruka's prodding at chuunin exams]

So it's like. Oh you're afraid of "Friend Killer" Kakashi? You think he's weird and violent and he gives you the creeps? Huh.
