A Gallery of Ancient, Medieval, & Modern Warrior Women

The first female warrior attested to historically is Queen Ahhotep I of Egypt (l. c. 1570-1530 BCE) who put down a rebellion by the Hyksos when her son, Ahmose I, was campaigning against the Nubians. In literature, the first mention of women warriors comes from Homer's Iliad (8th century BCE), which references the Amazons.

Whether attested to by historical or literary documents, women warriors are nothing new. According to Greek mythology, Epipole of Carystus disguised herself as a man to fight in the Trojan War, and the Assyrian queen regent Sammu-Ramat (r. 811-806 BCE) is said to have led troops and is also believed to be the inspiration for the legendary warrior queen Semiramis. It is possible that Queen Hatshepsut of Egypt (r. 1479-1458 BCE) did the same long before Sammu-Ramat, but this has been challenged.

Recent criticism claiming that women warriors are somehow an invention of 21st-century revisionist historians is untenable as historical and literary works spanning thousands of years argue otherwise. Dragon Age Brainrot has returned~

Remaining cautiously optimistic about Veilguard, but in the meantime I felt the urge to draw my Warden, Hawke, and Inquisitor (feat. his sister) in as close a style to Dragon Age: Absolution as I could get. (Shh I know I'm like 2 years late)

If you've followed me for a minute, this is a different lineup for my "canon" PCs than I originally had, but as time has passed I've made adjustments. Not just to who I'll be taking into Veilguard with me re: the world state questions, but also their appearances. Except Hawke. My Hawke has always, and will always, be the same because she was perfect the first time.

SO it’s once again time for me to brainrot over Lux and as I was rereading her official biography for the umpteenth time, I remembered my silly little headcanon! As some of you may know, (most likely not, I am criminally insane about Lux) there are mentions of an Illuminator in her bio by the name of KAHINA. That is the only mention of Kahina whatsoever as far as I can tell. She was a knight who quote, “…taught Lux more martial skills, sparring and training with her in the gardens of the Crownguard manor.”

Now. That is literally where all mention of this Kahina stops. I think her and Lux were good friends. Maybe even the inklings of a crush. I just like her…

I’ve desperately scoured for any more information of Kahina and the only thing I found was a fanmade champion concept for her on Reddit. If I find it again I’ll reblog with it, but I just. Why give her a name if she meant nothing to her, yknow? Why is she not in LoR? WHERE IS SHE RIOT??
