Dragon Age Brainrot has returned~
Remaining cautiously optimistic about Veilguard, but in the meantime I felt the urge to draw my Warden, Hawke, and Inquisitor (feat. his sister) in as close a style to Dragon Age: Absolution as I could get. (Shh I know I'm like 2 years late)
If you've followed me for a minute, this is a different lineup for my "canon" PCs than I originally had, but as time has passed I've made adjustments. Not just to who I'll be taking into Veilguard with me re: the world state questions, but also their appearances. Except Hawke. My Hawke has always, and will always, be the same because she was perfect the first time.
Updated templates if you're curious about them!

Bronwen Lavellan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Bronwen Lavellan Age: 36 Height: 6’2 (188 cm) Class: Mage Specialization: Rift mage Quirks: Bronwen is a quiet man who prefers to surround himself with nature when given the chance.  He has a space dedicated to nature and tranquility in Skyhold just adjacent to the garden.  He adores all animals though he is secretly terrified of bugs (spiders in particular) though he’ll put on a brave face for everyone else. Family: He has a daughter who is 18.  She is the product of a wild night with a local human and she stays with him in Skyhold.  Her name is Nadiya Lavellan.  His clan was hesitant to accept her but she grew on them as she took to the Dalish lifestyle despite looking like a human.  Bronwen is protective over his daughter and has taken Bull to task for even looking at her wrong.  Mama bear?  Nah, Papa Bear. Ships: Bronwen has a special place in his heart for Josephine but it takes them a long time to get together. Bronwen mostly thinks about how Josephine will take to his daughter while Nadiya absolutely adores Josephine.

Bronwen Lavellan for @bronwinning! I like her nose a lot.
I started these portrait requests/practice a month ago and then ran out of steam a bit, and it probably looked like they were never going to materialise, but I’m picking them up again now!

She definitely looks more like her depending on the camera angle or the facial expression she's making, but I think I did pretty okay! Might try and tweak a couple things later in the magic mirror, but I had spent so long in the CC my eyes were hurting so I had to be done.
I thought it would be fun to try and make my second Rook look like an actress or a character from something, and because I'm working on a painting of Regalla from Horizon Forbidden West, I ended up trying to make her look like Angela Bassett.
She's a Shadow Dragon mage and her name is Angitia Mercar. She has the snake tattoo on her forehead, and one on her back. Her ears are pretty hidden in both these shots, but make no mistake, she is an elf. I've seen people say there aren't a ton of options you can pick to establish your elf is a city elf, but that's what I'm going for in her backstory.
Bonus cc screenshot of my og Inquisitor, Bronwen Lavellan that I'm using for this playthrough. I miss her. Veilguard may have healed my relationship with Inquisition just a little. I probably won't play it ever again, but it's been nice to be reminded how much I loved the characters and the story it set up.
Hell, I'll throw Emrys in here too since they're siblings and I wanna see 'em together.

1,2 and 17 for either Quinn or Bronwen or both!! c:
I’ll do both! :D
Quinn Cousland:
1) What’s something other characters will notice first about your character?
Quinn stands at a towering 6″1, just two inches shorter than Alistair. (even though I forget sometimes and draw her a little shorter OOPS sorry Quinny)
2) What’s your character’s aesthetic (things associated with your character)?
A stormy sea on a cloudy day, seaside cliffs, and rocky shores. A banged up, well loved shield and a sword to match, both bearing her family name. Leather bound journals and well worn boots that always have a little mud caked on the soles. Taverns that are filled to bursting; warm orange light pouring out into the cold unforgiving night, drinking songs drifting through the air. Sleeping cuddled between a mabari and Alistair. Also not being Queen
17) How does alcohol affect your character?
Quinn isn’t much of a drinker, but probably due to her size and “Grey Warden metabolism,” she can drink slightly more than the average person before she starts to feel tipsy. If she’s going to get drunk, her weapon of choice is a honeyed Antivan wine. Once drunk, she gets louder and laughs at just about everything and most definitely has danced on a table/bar before.
Bronwen Lavellan
1)  What’s something other characters will notice first about your character?
Bronwen’s obviously an elf, but her ears are a little bigger than most, so that’s probably It. Later in their relationship, Cullen would admit it’s what he noticed about her first.
2)  What’s your character’s aesthetic (things associated with your character)?
A clear night sky through the thin canopy of a forest. Campfires and bedrolls and spontaneous Dalish folks dances. Bare feet and calloused hands, purple arcs of lightning contrasted by the sharp green of the mark on her left hand. Halla and horses and nugs and just about any sort of animal you can think of. Lazy Sunday mornings spent in bed, tangled in sheets and the limbs of her lover.
17) How does alcohol affect your character?
I feel like–and this is my own personal head canon–that the Dalish usually only drink on special occasions; bonding ceremonies, Dalish holidays, and probably the most during the Arlathvhen. Given how often they pick up and move, I don’t think alcohol is something they would carry a lot of because, really let’s be honest here, it’s not really a necessity. She’s probably about as much of a lightweight as I am (WHICH IS PATHETICALLY LIGHT, like guys, I like to pretend I’m a badass but a proof of 3% does me in like buh-bye) and she’ll giggle, sway when she walks, say some stupid things and then she’s asleep.

❤️☺️ and the arrow for your lavellan?
Oh thank you for asking!
❤  - Marital status: At the start of Inquisition, Bronwen is single. Trespasser rolls around, Cullen proposes, and they tie the knot. (I love that they basically elope, because that was my headcanon for them pre-trespasser anyway.)
☺ - Something they’re proud of: Bronwen is proud of a lot of things: How talented and kind both of her little brothers are, Cullen’s ambitions post-trespasser for helping other ex-templars, all of her companions achievements, how she managed to hold it together during the Exalted Council, etc...she’s just got a big heart and lots of love to give and is always telling people she’s proud of them.
➹ - Varric’s nickname for them: I always thought something like “Peanut” would fit really well. Bronwen’s small, got a big nose and big ears, just a cute sorta person in general. The name itself is cute, but not really condescending so I think it fits.

The Inquisitor as a Companion Meme Featuring: Bronwen Lavellan
Alternate Name?: Bronwen (unspecified clan)
Race, Class, & Specialization: Dalish, Mage, Rift Mage
Varric’s Nickname for them: Dizzy
Default Tarot Card: The Fool - Upright: Beginnings, innocence, spontaneity, a free spirit. Reversed: Naivety, foolishness, recklessness, risk-taking
How they are recruited: The Inquisitor is informed of a Dalish mage causing problems for Inquisition agents in the Exalted Plains. Upon going to the Plains, you find that Bronwen is making sure that a Dalish clan (not her own) that has been stranded there—due to many of their Halla falling ill and some difficult repairs being made to their Aravels—and are in danger due to the Civil War raging around them, and all the demons running loose. She has single handedly kept them safe for several weeks now.
When approached, she warns the Inquisitor that if they mean the clan harm, she will attack. When the Inquisitor makes it clear they have no intention of harming the clan, she will speak to them. If the Inquisitor asks her why she isn’t with her own clan, she will dodge the question. (She isn’t willing to speak about it until she becomes closer to the Inquisitor.)
The Inquisitor has the option to recruit her—stating that it’s impressive she has managed to keep an entire clan safe by herself and they have use for a powerful mage. Bronwen will refuse to join unless the Inquisitor can promise aid and protection for the clan. After the Inquisitor makes this promise, she will join, stating she has “nowhere else to go.”
She will not join if the Inquisitor decides to attack—killing her—or if they will not promise aid—losing the opportunity to recruit her.
Where they are in Skyhold: She hangs out near the stables
Things they Generally Approve of: Selflessness, helping elves, helping mages, non-Chantry centric views,
Things they Generally Disapprove of: “human superiority,” not helping elves, general asshattery,
Mages, Templars, Other?: She recognizes it is the Inquisitors choice, but will voice mild disapproval/anxiety if the Inquisitor chooses Templars, being a Dalish Apostate mage herself.
Friends in the Inquisition: Bronwen is friendly with pretty much everyone. She and Vivienne disagree on many points, but they are civil with each other at worst, good acquaintances at best.
Romanceable?: Yes! All races, males. If neither she, nor Cullen are romanced, she will enter a romance with the Commander.
Small side mission: Finding Dalish Runes in Dalish ruins
Companion quest: Bronwen has been informed of a group of bandits/mercenaries harassing her clan by a harried letter sent by her little brother. She practically begs the Inquisitor to go with her to keep her clan safe, despite having parted from them on bad terms. The Inquisitor learns of the rule that most Dalish clans live by: when there are too many mages in a clan, they are either sent away to other clans, or abandoned in the wild. Bronwen left when a young child developed their mage abilities. Not being able to find another clan to take them, the Keeper planned on abandoning the child. Bronwen disagreed, and tried to argue they could keep the child. When they refused reason, she left so the child would not die.
When you get to her clan, her brother, Emrys, meets up with her and takes you to the Keeper, warning Bronwen she won’t like what she’s hearing. You find out the Keeper abandoned the child anyway. Bronwen gets angry and gets in a fight with the Keeper. While they are arguing, the bandits attack. Bronwen is so angry, she wants to leave and not help the clan. She states they don’t deserve it. She wants to just leave, taking Emrys and abandon them to their own devices.
Option 1: Taking this route will cause Emrys to refuse to go with you—thus losing a recruitable agent for the Inquisition—and he will stay behind and be killed with the rest of the clan. Picking this route will harden Bronwen, and she will no longer disapprove of “negative” actions taken against elves. She will gain a powerful schematic for a staff and you will gain a 5% exp bonus on codex entries unlocked about elves.
Option 2: The Inquisitor tells Bronwen she’s being ridiculous, and no matter how angry she is at the Keeper, this is still her clan and they are going to protect them. Bronwen agrees, feeling foolish for her childish outburst. After the bandits are successfully fended off, Bronwen will inform the clan this is the last time they will see her. She is severing her ties with them. Emrys, not willing to lose his older sister, will come with you back to Skyhold, where he is recruited as an agent for Leliana, lowering the time it takes for Leliana to complete her missions.
Tarot card change
Option 1: Five of Cups - Upright: Loss, regret, disappointment, despair, bereavement. Reversed: Moving on, acceptance, forgiveness.
Option 2: Six of Swords - Upright: Regretful but necessary transition, rite of passage. Reversed: Cannot move on, carrying baggage
