mini rambles #2

i'm currently in the process of writing the minific anthology thing i wanted to post on AO3, but while i'm doing it i decided to add a Mini Rambles abt Inazuma (b/c i wanna get back into the swing of posting teehee)

i'm also testing out different methods of yapping that helps me skip out on ✦ quest combing ✦

[post-civil war] as always, Kaeya and Lumine spend a year in the Nation that they're helping out w/ (as much as Lumine HATES Inazuma, i'm 90% sure she feels a need to help out b/c she's got a complex abt it)

Kaeya lowkey TERRIFIED of Raiden (b/c girly almost killed him, dw abt it)

Lumine constantly on edge b/c the air is slightly electric and she's Element Sensitive so it's always like her hairs are standing on end

despite Inazuma being Kinda Stressful, they become homies w/ the trio of Ayaka, Thoma, and Yoimiya.

Ayaka is a weirdo (affectionate). she goes creek crawling to find crabs and lizards. she's absolutely fascinated by the ecosystem of the Chinju Forest so she spends a lot of time there. (also love the idea that she does a sort of dance-style meditation but she does it in the creek b/c she's weird like that. soggy socks back at it again fr fr)

Ayaka and Yoimiya are often referred to as "Lumi's Bad Influences" by Kaeya, b/c Yoimiya is feral and Ayaka is an enabler (b/c she likes to feel included) and they both rope Lumine into their shenanigans

Paimon demands to play Hot Pot almost every night and Lumine is this close to grabbing every Jueyun Chili she can find and scarring Paimon for life.

occasionally, Bennett would come hang out w/ the Traveler Trio, but at some point he almost got YEETED by one of the Thundering Sakuras so Lumine disallows him from traveling w/ them to the Inazuma wilds specifically.

Yae Miko likes to fuck w/ Lumine like 10x more ever since Lumine pointed a sword at her (dw abt it, it's a thing that happens in one of the fics)

at some point, Yoimiya introduces Lumine and Ayaka to several different Light Novel series, and Lumine discovers an adoration for the crazy ass stories that the people of Teyvat read.

Lumine is really good at Onikabuto fights, but Kaeya's even better. Paimon kinda hates him for it b/c she has NO IDEA how his Onikabuto keep beating her ass. Paimon and Itto are always sore losers abt it.

Watatsumi Island, in the opinion of the Traveler Trio, is the best island because it's the least stressful. Lumi still misses the fuck out of Teppei, tho. That was her homie, man.

they don't talk abt Tsurumi Island. Lumi was fucked up for days after they finally cleared the fog.

Kaeya doesn't want to admit it but he does his best to steer them clear of Yashiori Island. Yes, they cleared the lightning storms, but listen the memories there are still ROUGH.

Lumi feels guilty as shit about it, but she keeps count of all the work that needs to be done for Inazuma to be OK without them, and she plans on AVOIDING this place like the PLAGUE the moment she feels like she's helped them to her fullest.

She feels so bad about it though. like so bad. she likes her friends here, but she's so fucked up from this place. bisexual japan is scary

Lumi and Kaeya have so many scars from this place. the conversation with Zhongli whenever they come back to Liyue is gonna be ✦INTERESTING✦

How about some headcannons for Kaeya and his Traveller!S/O? (Featuring a Paimon cameo ofc)

I just like the idea that traveller (and those close) can use waypoints to be in multiple nations within a day. Just finished Sumeru commissions? Let's go to Good Hunter for lunch!

And that's exactly how Kaeya can get his knightly duties done and accompany his S/O. I'd also imagine he makes up some excuse that he's acting a diplomat for Mondstat..

Regardless I personally have dragged Kaeya around Teyvat like a child drags around their favorite blanket. The man has been EVERYWHERE. From Enkanoimiya to the Jade Chamber he's starting to rival Diluc's own travels.

As a fellow Kaeya main, agreed. This man has never left my team and I have gone to every nation in Teyvat with him. Kaeya Mains/Simps unite. I didn’t come up with a lot, but here are some ideas I did have (: 

Kaeya traveled with you to Liyue but he had to return once you had to go to Inazuma. He has responsibilities in Mondstadt, he can’t be gone forever when his army is already absentee. 

He doesn’t understand how the hell you managed to get the monuments around the map to work as teleporters

All he does know, teleporting makes his stomach flip and he hates it (but he’ll never tell you that)

The good thing about it though is being able to hold you close to his chest for the teleportation to work.

He does love the opportunity to take you to nice places though, he’s gone to several of the nations on business trips and negotiations so when you bring him to say, Fontaine, expect nice crepe shops or fancy French restaurants treated by him. 

Kaeya is also 1000000% a shopper, has an eye for fashion, and gift giving is his language so both of you can spend an afternoon in different nation’s shops trying on outfits (and Kaeya will buy them for you as gifts for a later date)

He also buys gifts for friends in Mondstadt if he’s spending the day for you (which you don’t mind, they’re your friends too after all)

Diluc at this point has several Sumerian Vases in all sorts of colors, patterns, and cultures

It also makes his life easier if you send him to nations for conferences or business meetings, saves a few days of travel, and can get there almost instantly. Plus, he'll spend all his free time with you

His favorite thing though is when you surprise him with some special date. A picnic in Inazuma, overlooking the sunset over the city, a private night in King Deshret’s tombs, or scuba diving in the reefs of Fontaine, whenever you plan something special, his heart fucking melts.

Thoughts on how Mondstadt went [3]:

kaeya trusts lumi after the whole 'helped save Mondstadt AND Dvalin' thing'. like CLEARLY she's a good person, absolutely super sweet and also really cool (she fought a dragon yall just WAIT till Liyue).

also, i'm sorry, i know the joke is that the only thing ppl have ever done to help the traveler is put up missing persons posters, but i cannot fathom that Jean would sit there, after the ENTIRE THING, and just put up posters.

i just imagine, like: Jean: how tf do i repay her??? she needs more than posters,,, Kaeya: yo i got an idea Jean: where tf did u come from Kaeya: dw abt it, we should send an envoy w/ the Traveler to help her out on her journey.

bc Kaeya would totally think of a good way to help her out bc she DID save Mondstadt, ok. like he loves Mondstadt ofc he'd want to repay her.

anyway Jean's like 'k u can go, its not like u have any horses or cavalry to worry abt'. this was NOT Kaeya's intent btw, he totally imagined Jean sending someone else bc that's just what he figured she'd do, so he was like 'i'm flattered but maybe we let lumine decide that??' bc he figures like Lumine would ask for someone like Amber or somethin

little does he know that Lumine is smitten w/ him now, and so ofc she chooses him as the envoy????

anyway these are my thoughts on Mondstadt, thank god this quest series was so short, not that i remember much of it since i did it like 2-ish years ago lmfao. i'm gonna go die for a bit again lmfao

Current thoughts on how Mondstadt went [1]: Kaeya: are you a new ally? Kaeya: or a new storm? Lumine: Kaeya, internally: This isn't any normal traveler... She's hard to read, looks like I'll have to keep an eye on her... Lumine, internally: That was a cute one-liner, but is he trying to intimidate me???? Lumine, internally: your mistrust is a CHALLENGE, and i ACCEPT.

Cue Lumine constantly hanging around Kaeya, Kaeya panicking because he's toTALLY not getting smitten with this incredibly precious weirdo and her floating fairy toddler, and Lumine thinking abt how this sassy pirate guy might actually be super cool and awesome and 'oh no do i like him???'

thoughts on how Liyue Archon quest went [2]

Lumi would make Kaeya not fight the Mililleth for plausible deniability.

i'm not even joking on that, b/c remember that this guy IS like,,, an envoy of Monds., so him fighting the literal gov't might be a Bad Idea(tm). and Lumi would know this, so when u have to fight the Mililleth for Moon Carver, i personally believe Lumi fought them on her own and made Kaeya like,,, hide w/ Paimon.

tHANKFULLY, Lumi = good fighter, so it was EZ (no offense mililleth, but L)

Moon Carver: only fate will decide if you shall find them [Mountain Shaper and Cloud Retainer]—only fate. Lumi: oh no, not the crypticism Kaeya: u say that like this is a normal thing for u Lumi: u don't wanna know.

living for the idea, btw, that when they go to Wangshuu Inn and meet Xiao, it's very much like: Xiao: leave. Xiao: *disappears* Kaeya: wow, what a ray of sunshine. Lumi: Kaeya: Lumi: Kaeya: we're befriending him, aren't we? Lumi: that's the plan.

side note, Kaeya is creeped out by Dusky Ming (he teases Paimon for being a scaredy cat but also THAT'S A FUCKING GHOST CHILD?!?!?!) also when Xiao gets dropkicked by the info of Rex Lapis dying, Lumi and Kaeya immediately go like "oh he was ur DAD wasn't he" meanwhile Paimon's just asking abt Dusky Ming and completely Unaware(tm).

thoughts on how Liyue Archon quest went [3]

Kaeya and Lumi break amber on Mt Hulao and get yelled at by Mountain Shaper. that was a thing, right? Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver kinda got ignored a lot when it came to the Adepti, ngl. like tbf, i know why Cloud Retainer and Xiao got attention, but still,,, like Moon Carver was cool b/c Beeg Deer(tm) but Mountain Shaper??? bro got sidelined so hard man.

anyway, Mt. Aocang, yah? Total Side Tangent Moment(tm): i always liked the seats that alluded to Guizhong (b/c i love Guizhong lore, she's Very Silly(tm)), and i remember this part very well the first time i did this quest b/c i was also very curious on who Guizhong was. it was just interesting to me that, despite being gone for so long, she showed up in the narrative due to her importance to Liyue? and i just thought that that was so cool... i should ramble abt Guizhong at one point, b/c i'm so interested in her as a character despite her being Deceased(tm).

SIDE TANGENT OVER

when they go into Cloud Retainer's abode, i like to see this as a true testament to Lumine's skills in puzzles. i love Smart Lumine(tm) so fuckin much, and it's always my favorite when puzzles are involved. b/c i see it going down like: Paimon: these mechanisms are so confusing.... Kaeya: i mean, i feel like they're doable, but ffs it's convoluted Lumi: proceeds to completely upend the puzzle in like seconds there we go Kaeya: Paimon: Kaeya: wow, we got a show off here huuuh? (inwardly, he's simping)

after talking w/ Cloud Retainer, obviously they get back to Serious Mode(tm) and get back and yap to Childe. and obviously they give Childe and update, and he gives them an update, and there's still no trust Childe: dw guys, i can help u out, i just gotta find someone Lumi: uh huh. really? Childe: yep. anyway, stay alive till we see each other again! leaves Lumi: sus. Kaeya: sus. Paimon: what DOES THAT MEAN?!?!?

thoughts on how Liyue archon quest went [1]

ok, full disclosure, i took notes when my friend redid this quest, but these notes are terrible and i hate scouring my quest archive to find stuff, so,,, haha good luck!

anyway, to set the scene, we've got Lumi and Kaeya headin to Liyue. b/c like, in my actual game, my last two characters fluctuated pretty consistently (it was a weird time guys), so i h/c that it was just Lumi and Kaeya for that reason.

Rite of Decension, the dragon corpse drops Paimon: oh. Kaeya: well. that's not great. Lumi: Lumi: F U C K

the two idiots proceed to try and escape b/c Kaeya cannot afford to be seen as a possible God Killer when he's supposed to be repping Mondstadt, and Lumi doesn't wanna be seen as a possible God Killer because she doesn't want to be WANTED BY THE GOVERNMENT (and also, she doesn't trust anyone who would kill a God!!! better gtfo!!!!!)

personally i think Kaeya knew Childe was a Fatui Harbinger right off the bat, seeing as he's the Cavalry Captain and has experience w/ Fatui. but iirc Childe just sorta tells Lumi pretty quickly. Obviously neither Lumi nor Kaeya trust him like,,, at a l l.

but i mean, they don't have much of a choice but to like,,, trust him, b/c, y'know, dead God allegations.

so off adeptus hunting they go lmao

Thoughts on how Mondstadt went [2]:

yk how Lumi and Paimon try to steal the lyre and almost get caught??? then she runs off to the Angel's Share right, and all that.

u can't tell me kaeya doesn't know she totally tried to steal it, right???

like he hears abt a blond stealing the lyre and like??? yk????

me personally, i like to think that Kaeya's like 'sigh i knew she was up to no good. but why tf is she after the lyre?' and he's a lil hurt by it but he'd never say that ever at all no.

confrontation while she and paimon go to get the excess tears to power the lyre, Lumi's like "no wait hear me out PLEASE i know this looks bad" and Kaeya's like "yk what i'm curious, i'll hear u out"

proceeds to learn abt all the shenanigans she's been up to, and all that jazz.

this may just be me silly goofily explaining why/how he's in my party while i'm doing things he arguably wouldn't be there for, but yall can SUE me, i love these two and i think it's silly.

adventuring rambles #1

HAHAHA I TOTALLY DIDN'T KEEL OVER BECAUSE OF SICKNESS, FINALS, AND GENERALLY JUST PERISHING LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT AT ALL anyway, so i'm currently deep in the brain rot (i have been the entire time gone, u think this shit goes away? no, no it doesn't, i live here now) and i was thinkin abt like, yk, how time works in Teyvat. cuz like me personally i didn't start playing till after Sumeru (and my acc is as old as Inazuma release but i didnt play cuz reasons), but every nation is updated like what, every year or so? so, therefore, at least in my opinion (and thus my h/c's b/c SUE ME) the traveler is in each nation for about a year. which means Lumi's in Mondstadt for a year after the Dvalin thing, doing generally good deeds and getting commissions and figuring out how Mora and stuff works (bc this IS a new world for her, girl doesn't know EVERYTHING yet) so there's a year of her helping out around Mondstadt, working w/ Kaeya and essentially doing team building b/c he's gonna be traveling w/ her when the Rite of Descension finally comes around, wringing Paimon for information on everything she can (girl is feral for info on Teyvat), all that jazz. which makes sense; the Traveler comes to be Very Well Known TM and while fighting a dragon is cool i doubt that's the ONLY reason she gets to be well known, right?

anyway, this massive prelude is just me yapping abt how they totally go to Dragonspine nearer the end of the year to do stuff. and the only reason they CAN go to Dragonspine is b/c they meet Bennett (who Lumi immediately wants to adopt b/c HE'S A BABY), and Benny offers to take 'em up there. :) so,,, i like to imagine that when they're up in Dragonspine, doing everything that has to do w/ that place, a silly thing happens where Lumi and Kaeya kinda get separated from Bennett and like,,, trapped in a place and almost get murdered by a Frostarm Lawlachurl (i have horrible trauma w/ that one fucker by the goddamn crimson tree. he may be dead but i will never forget the fear). anyway, so Kaeya literally almost dies, and it culminates w/ Lumi almost dying to sheer cold to get him to a waypoint, and then her refusing to leave him while he's getting patched up b/c uh oh abandonment issues! (dw abt Bennett and Paimon btw, they made it back to Mondstadt to try and get help; tho tbf that was also an arduous journey in of itself)

now, u must be asking; why did i come up w/ this idea?

b/c it was the best way to express the general Dragonspine experience, and also bc i CAN. totally didn't also write a love confession afterwards, no not at all, i'm not a psychopath

after this, Lumi never goes to Dragonspine w/o AT LEAST 15 warming bottles. and after she finds out abt portable waypoints, u know for a FACT she carries 5 on her at All Times. also Kaeya would never admit it but he gets a little stressed around Frostarm Lawlachurls now.

anyway i WILL Return TM w/ the silly goofy Liyue chapter (at least everything i can FUCKIN REMEMBER BRO (tho i DID take notes when my friend redid it so!! :)c))

Kaeya headcanons

i'm speedrunning this before work while my breakfast is cooking so BEAR WITH ME, i have SO MANY thoughts on my bbgrl

current list of h/c's: - ice skater kaeya, i will die on this hill. will have a post abt that one day b/c there's so much to it that i want to scream abt and Thoughts (tm) to be had (like him getting flustered??? OUGH i need to restrain myself) - speaking of flustered, he's really good at keeping his cool (pun fully intended, fight me) and he typically is the one who CAUSES the flustering. smooth af and KNOWS it - he likes to cause chaos and mayhem. a bit of a gremlin. mischievous man. perhaps a tad prankster in his bones. playful teasing bastard and has a lot of fun w/ it.

- cold hands. nothing more. - when push comes to shove, Kaeya's the guy w/ the plan. like genuinely he's incredibly strategic and has the main plan, and like two or three back up plans. it's not even like an anxiety thing he just wants to be prepared, and he makes them up pretty last minute. - he's kind of an assassin-style character, y'know? not as much of a main fighter as he is a sneaky backstabber. roguish and charming but can and will yeet u type deal right??? - LOYAL to a GODDAMN FAULT. i TRULY believe this man's loyalty is unshakeable. like he'd do anything for the people he cherishes the most. and if he perceives u as a threat??? a threat to the things he cares about?????? ur on the list now and there's no escape. - incredibly perceptive! like he's really good at getting information from people already, but i feel like that just makes it a lot easier for him to notice when Something Is Up. it's hard to catch him unawares. - kaeya's great and i love him but he doesn't love himself and i'm sorry this man definitely feels like he's got really bad self esteem. Like he KNOWS he can get shit done, but he has a hard time believing that anyone likes him and probably has trust issues b/c of it. - i also feel like he doesn't like the spotlight? like specifically Kaeya; if he needs to put on a persona for the spotlight, it doesn't phase him bc he's good at hiding behind a persona. but the moment Actual Kaeya gets spotlight he's like a bit of a mess and nervous and would just rather people enjoy themselves. essentially just doesn't want the spotlight. - abandonment issues. i don't need to explain this one. - kaeya puts on the air of an anti-hero but he's a quiet paragon himself. literally helps people out of habit and while he jokes abt it he doesn't actually expect anything in return and literally forgets he helped ppl bc it's just so engrained in his brain. - epitome of "sorry i had feelings, i'll replace em w/ jokes right away" - not the best cook tbh? like he can make some GOOD snacks (chicken mushroom skewers, a fried egg, simple stuff like that) but ask him to cook actual meals and he's at a loss for food prep and has no idea how to time everything in the dish. - emotionally available but only for other ppl. cannot and will not express his own emotions bc of aforementioned anxieties; but u wanna talk to him abt shit? he's all ears and will comfort u like a bbgrl. - this is less of a h/c but actually canon, and that's just that Kaeya's lonely. i genuinely think he wants to be around ppl but he feels like they wouldn't like the real him :(( - on that note, i WILL say that, despite his playfulness, this man is a romantic at heart??? like he probably LOVES poetry and writing and music, and the only reason he makes light of it is b/c he thinks it's funny and also to make people underestimate him. he would probably die for the opera performances in Fontaine tbh. OKAY,,, i've gotta hurry up and wrap this post bc i have work soon but please here thank u this is my bbgrl kaeya i love him so much. he has been in my main party since day one and like i'm beyond attached to this lil shit, like PLEASE HIS VOICELINES ARE SO GOOD. i will talk more abt my kaelumi h/c's and explain how things go in my "canon", b/c i'm trying to go in order of how all the poly met each other. WHICH means that Zhongli's next!!! b/c ofc i'm going to scream abt him, my friend's playing his archon quest and letting me watch it again and i'm taking so many notes its not even FUNNY.
