First Chapter of my Kalina redemption fic

She felt her back press against an old tree in the middle of the woods in the Astral Plane as light blazed in front of her. The light was familiar. The blaze of the summer sun clawed at her skin from a creature of pure crystal, using its light like a prism to burn her.

From the shadow of a nearby tree the sound of gunshots accompanied by golden, fiery light shot at her. One was placed into her ribs before she managed to vault herself out of the way, hands landing on the ground as she flipped herself onto a tree. “What the fuck is going on,” she snarled through the pain, fangs sharp as she readied her claws with a moonlight glow, “who are you and what do you want from me?”

“Kalina!” The voice that rang out instilled fear into her limbs. She felt her muscles go limp as some sort of pressure was applied to the back of her neck. The burning heat of the sun stabbed through her stomach, instantly cauterizing the wound. 

She stared down at the golden blade, her face snarling and her fangs bored. Twisting to look behind her, she realized who had grabbed the scruff of her neck - a woman made of golden light, fire blazing bright as her hair rolled down like waves of molten lava. Her outfit was different from when Kalina saw her last, with a bralette covered by a leather jacket, emblazoned with pins and anarchist imagery. 

“Nice to see you again, Ma,” she managed to choke out even though the hands around her neck pulled against her vocal cords, “you’re looking better. To what do I owe the pleasure?”

She felt the hand grow tighter around her throat and the sword plunge deeper into her guts as the flames burned brighter. “You know exactly what you did, Kalina; don’t play dumb with me,” Ankarna barked as golden smoke blazed from her eyes. 

The familiar did most of what her feline facial structure would allow: a cocked brow, her eyes narrowing at her creator’s wife to try and piece together what she meant. The air around the two tensed, eyes meeting as each tried to figure out the other’s motive. The other two figures stood there, the magical sun gleaming from their weapons of choice.

“Kalina? Oh Kalina, where are you kitten,” a soft voice like a lullaby from a mother sang from the woods, hitting the ears of the two who were most familiar with her voice. Kalina’s eyes widened, the soft smile took the place of her snarl and the pain in her chest somehow numbed despite the impaled sword in her abdomen. 

“Momma,” she mumbled, stumbling off the sharpened steel of sunlight and staggering into the woods, claws catching the tree bark to sturdy her resolve. “Cassandra! Momma, I’m over here!” 

She managed to spot her as her vision drifted into black. Cassandra looked better than she had previously, with dark purple skin, stars shining as freckles dotting her skin with constellations, and pure white eyes filled with the purity and love she had for the world. Her long purple hair was tied back in a braid, but Kalina saw it begin to unravel and float with magical energy. “Kalina! Kalina, kitten, stay with me! Stay… with… me.”

Patrochilles Headcanons, Hades 1&2

Odysseus is the one who sets these two knuckleheads together. He saw brooding Achillies fawning over Patroclus who wasn’t picking it up at all and set them up.

He picked some yarrow flowers and left a note for Pat to meet his secret admirer at the edge of camp, and left Achilles there for him to confess with a bouquet of the yellowish petals. 

Patroclus started writing poetry because Achilles had terrible nightmares when they were growing up and in the Trojan War and didn’t wanna sleep. Pat’s poems and running fingers through his golden locks were the only things that put Achillies to sleep. 

After Pat died, Achilles kept a scroll/book of all of Pat’s poems and would read it every night instead of sleeping. 

Achilles is really good with braids and other hairstyles. His mother taught him growing up how to take spectacular care of his hair (at least in Ancient Greece where Shampoo was a new invention).

All this led Achilles to do Pat’s hair in large communal baths, braiding it and helping it heal after years of neglect (because Pat seems like the type who doesn’t care about his hair and it fell into tremendous disarray after he died).

The first thing Achillies does when they reunite (after hugging and kissing and crying) is sit Pat down and comb his hair out, dipping the comb into the river Lythe to help wrangle the curls and knots

Achilles, as a child of a sea goddess and related to the sea nymphs, has a heavenly singing voice. Patroclus called it “his siren song” whenever he sang. 

Pat always talked about growing old together so when both of them died, they accidentally chose similar ages (around 50's) because they died around 25ish max.

Achilles has always been extremely protective and cautious around new items, especially if they would hurt Patroculus who was naturally really curious and danger-prone as a child.

After the events of the first game, the two pseudo-adopt Iphigenia (which I headcanon is the Supportive Red Shade).

She chose to look younger (well, younger than she was when she died) by a few years, around 11-14.

They ran into her when they went to watch a match between Zagreus and Theseus, tagging along in her loud and vibrant cheers before they ever realized who she was.

Things were awkward between her and Achilles on part of the whole “thinking they were engaged before the truth came to light that she was there to be sacrificed” thing.

They train her in combat and she tags along with Achilles sometimes to meet Zagreus (who immediately recognizes her and absolutely adores her).

Achilles loves seeing them get along, his pseudo-adopted kids and Pat make his world whole. 

They have monthly nights where they kick Agamemnon’s ass (Achilles' enemy during the Trojan War and Iphigenia’s abusive father for those who don’t know).

I have a question about requesting if you don't mind! You said in a post that you write for Hades game, but do you write for Achilles and/or Patroclus (platonically)

Hi! I don't mind writing them somewhat platonic but in game and in myth (at least most commonly interpreted) the two were lovers in some way shape or form. There still might be some of that in whatever I write.

But if your question was: would you write headcanons, etc about any of them, then absolutely. As XReaders, platonic or whatever, as long as it follows my rules we are good my friend <3

Absolutely, hon! I kinda wanted to bully your taste a bit but I'll just say you have a type. Also, if y'all give me free reign with extra characters, I'll always chose N when it comes to Pokemon. He's my boy!

Grimsley: Smoke, Red Wine, and Petrichor

Smoke like the comfort of a cigarette on a cold winter night at a rooftop bar or snuffing out a candle after a long night on the couch with a movie. Red wine like a classy date in an expensive restaurant or a comforting drink after a long day, alcohol somehow numbs the pain in your joints. Petrichor like waiting for the rain to stop outside before walking away from work or walking through the city under an umbrella, watching the people walk by.

Drayden: Leather, Pine, and a Fresh Meal

Leather like finally buying a much-needed new bag or tying a nice pair of leather boots before going on a hike. Pine like a Christmas Tree at your grandparent’s house or walking in the woods in early winter, the last of the leaves falling in your hair. Meals like a pot roast on a cold winter night or sauteeing vegetables for a new recipe.

Clara: Sour Gummies, Cheerwine, and Poppies

Sour Gummies in the way of walking into a busy candy store or opening a package late in the night as a study snack. Cheerwine like on a hot and humid summer’s day, feeling the cold, cherry-flavored soda run down your throat to quench your thirst. Poppies like growing a batch in a small pot and smelling them and feeling the need for sleep hit your limbs.

N: Gardenias, Fresh Cut Grass, and Honeysuckles

Gardenias like walking in the woods in the beginning of spring or the surprise of finding one fresh white flower sitting on your desk in a small container with water, signed by your secret admirer. Fresh-cut grass like walking in the park in the early morning or lying on the grass between classes, the sun on your skin and engulfing you in warmth. Honeysuckles like going to the plant with your parent as a kid, picking the flower, and then having you try it. You aren’t sure but do and taste the sugary nectar engulf your mouth.

Mochas like the sudden spike of caffeine in the morning after a long, sleepless night. Daffodils signal the beginning of spring with their yellow and white flowers. Oranges like eating a familiar fruit as you put the peels in a simmer pot with other ingredients, letting the scent engulf the house.

Patchouli like walking into an apothecary, the variety and combination of all scents hitting and burning your nose. Water lilies like walking through an oriental garden and seeing koi fish swim between lilypads with pink and white flowers. The other Matras start noticing Cyno eating a pinkish jelly from a jar after mealtimes. Upon inquiry, they find out it was a jar of Zaytun Peach jelly you, the General's wife, made after he made a comment on how tasteless the rations were.

Sweet as Sugar

“Have you seen the General Mahamatra,” one of the newer guards asked, hands still reached out to absorb the warmth of the fire.

“No, he left sometime after dinner, he’s been doing that a lot more lately than normal,” the other responded. “He didn’t use to do this, I think something might be up? I mean, this person we’re hunting was in the same Darshan and similar year as the General… Maybe they were friends and this is upsetting him?”

The newer member nodded, looking at the direction General Cyno went before pulling himself up. “I’m gonna go looking for him. Feel free to stay here and tend the fire.”

The other nodded, watching the other walk off towards the nearby stones before turning his attention back to feeding the flames.

“General Mahamatra Cyno,” he called out, turning the corner as he let his fingers run against the aged stone. “Are you al…”

The new scout wasn’t really sure what to expect, he most certainly wasn’t expecting to find sitting in a corner General Mahamatra Cyno, one of the most terrifying men in Sumeru, huddled around a jar and mid-putting a spoonful of pinkish preservatives in his mouth. Their eyes met, catching them both off guard before the newbie said, “Yeah… I’m just gonna go now…”

- A few days prior - 

“What’s wrong?” The voice rang in his ears and a warm hand reached across the dining room table and placed on his. Her hands were warm and just the placement on his made him melt. 

“Nothing really,” he looked into your eyes as he grasped your hand and rubbed his thumb over your knuckles. “I’m just gonna miss you and your cooking on this upcoming mission.”

He looked into your eyes as he watched them narrow in the way you did as you thought, shining as gears turned in your head. “It’s not that big of a deal,” he continued, squeezing your hand before returning to the meal.

Cyno didn’t normally sleep in but he would the day before he had to go on another mission. Rest was needed for these long journeys and his back felt better on your shared bed than on the sleeping mats they used, plus the extra time with you was exactly what he wanted. 

He felt the sun rest on his skin as he reached out but felt nothing there. He opened his eyes, the world partially blurry, to see no one next to him, an empty half of the bed. He pulled himself out of the covers, feet placed on the floor, and walked up to the door. As he pulled the food open, the smell of sweetened and stewed fruits hit his nose. 

He walked down the hall, eyes looking to the kitchen as he watched you stirring a pot and humming to yourself. Hips swaying side to side in rhythm to the spoon’s movements. He didn’t say anything, walking past you and starting the water to do the dishes. 

“What are you doing out of bed,” you question, not even looking towards him as you stir the concoction in the pot, “go rest and enjoy your day off.”

“I am enjoying myself; I’m with you,” he says, scrubbing the few dirty dishes in the sink. “What about you? Why aren’t you in bed?”

You hum, lifting up the spoon and inspecting the pink mixture. “I couldn’t stop thinking about what you said last night, about missing my food. I decided I would make something for you.”

Walking over, you lift the spoon towards his lips which he happily takes. The sugary fruits were stewed and dissolved in his mouth with minimal effort; releasing all the tension from his shoulders as he melted. “Zaytun peach preserves. I’ll make something to accompany them, I’m just not sure what yet…”

His eyes watched you in admiration. Stepping closer, he stretched upwards and placed his lips on yours. The taste of sugar was still in his mouth as he placed his hand on your forearm. As the two of you released, you couldn’t help but quip, “Well, at least I know I added enough sugar!”

You mentioned your favorite ship in genshin was a poly ship. If you don't mind me asking, what is it and why do you love it so much?

Oh, yeah! Definitely, I don't mind! I know shipping wars are crazy in the Genshin fandom so I first gotta say that I am a multishipper and ship a lot of the stuff in this fandom, especially around these three characters. pls don't skin me because you don't think I ship other stuff, I do and it really doesn't matter in the end. The likelihood of anything becoming canon in this fandom in nonexistent.

But my favorite ship is Kaeya/Albedo/Childe or Chaebedo! First off, all of them are skilled fighters and are great with kids and that is 100% the main reason. Klee is one of my favorite characters and I just want her to have three fun big brothers looking out for her!

A big second is their thematic parallels. Kaeya and Albedo are prophecized or worried about betraying/harming their nation, Childe literally tried to destroy Liyue, lol. Plus they all have that abyss trauma. They would bond and connect over it <3

Another is the drama kinda coming from it? Like, Jean reacting to these two dating a fatui harbinger, expecting shit to hit the fan almost immediately. Another is Diluc, like, how the fuck would Diluc take this?! Would the Harbingers be mad at Childe? Would Childe leave the Fatui? Like, there are so many possible ways to take this and I love it!

Pokemon Characters and Date Ideas

Basically: what dates would these Pokemon characters do with you? Characters: N Harmonia, Leon, Grimsley, Rika & Prof. Augustine Sycamore

N Harmonia

Was honestly showing affection and did private, one-on-one hangouts together even before you two started dating

It was around this time he got more affectionate in your friendship. Resting his head on top of your hair, deep eye contact (which he was often really bad at), and braiding/playing with your hair or vice versa. 

It wasn’t until you “officially” ask him out and he cocks his head to the side like a confused puppy and goes “I thought we already were?”

Confusion ensues.

As for dates, N is a really quiet and private guy. He doesn’t like being out in public or in overstimulating environments.

Most of the time dates are hikes, picnics, exploring, all that the fun outdoorsy stuff where he gets to shine in his element. 

Occasionally y’all go to Nimbasa City and go on the Ferris Wheel or play at the arcade in the Amusement Park which you both find enjoyable. 

But his favorites are on late nights when neither of you can sleep. 

You two will just go to Dragonspiral Tower and stargaze at the top of the ruins or watch the local wild pokemon do their thing. 

It’s quiet, it’s fun, and he’s with you. What else could he ask for?

Leon

Dense boy, you probably had to beat him over the head with a book to get his brain to understand (mostly bc he keeps accidentally friend-zoning himself)

Has never really dated before? 

Like, Rose set him up on dates because it's good publicity but he probably hasn’t gone on a real date.

He has money, all these brand partnerships and stuff. He tries to do really classy stuff when y’all first start dating but it leads to him being clearly uncomfortable and you getting fed up and explaining you like him for him and to do fun stuff together.

Mostly home dates from that point on or outings that don’t feel like “dates”. 

Game nights where you two play video games are super fun. Some days are challenge days where you see who can do the best run on a Roguelike or who can win the most rounds of a battle royale type game

Some days are cozy co-op games where you solve puzzles and create things…

Y’all’s favorite thing to do together though is just walk and get lost. Esp with Leon’s terrible sense of direction, you two find weird hole-in-the-wall places that are so much fun.

The best one you found was a great hole-in-the-wall traditional kantonian ramen bar that was on the edge of going out of business. However, due to you and Leon talking about it so much with friends and posting about it online, you saved the shop from going out of business.

Grimsley

Your first date with Grimsley wasn’t really what you were expecting in all honesty

He took you out for lunch at his favorite Kalosian cafe then took you to a bookstore and had you both pick out different books for each other, then went to his house and read while old records played in the background

Of course, the book he picked out for you was one of Shauntal’s (because gotta support your friends/little sister figure)

It was so different from what you were expecting but so sweet at the same time. 

Most common dates are drinks at bars after long days or flower viewings knowing you would like them

He also takes you to his favorite spots whenever he visits Alola with you.

But the most fun dates are when the two of you go to Castelia or Nimbasa to the casinos

You both are given the same amount of money and the challenge is who makes the most in time for your dinner reservation

Whenever the two of you see each other during these you have a habit of teasing the other about who’s in the lead. 

In the end, the winner pays for dinner (much to the chagrin of the other)

Rika

She’s the one who asked you and was super casual and blunt about it

Picks you up after work and takes you to the store where the two of you talk about what to make for dinner.

The two of you go back to her place and begin cooking together, smiling and chatting the whole time as the two of you get distracted by cutting veggies and being in each other’s company.

From then on dates were mostly cutesy, one-on-one time for the two of you.

Crafts while watching movies are the most common, sewing, embroidery, sketching, it's just fun and relaxing

Ceramics classes too, wet clay on your hands and you rub it on her face. Only for her to cock her brow and smirk as she cups her face with her filthy hands and kisses your nose.

Her favorite dates are the ones when you get to help her at the Academy. Running after-school activities or working in the library

It combines her admiration of her students and her love of you… her two favorite things

Prof. Augustine Sycamore

Honestly over the moon when you accepted to go on a date with him

The man is in his late 30s/early 40s and his last relationship kinda fell apart really badly 

*cough cough Lysandre cough*

So he was out of the dating scene for a while and didn’t exactly know what to do when you said yes

Like, his brain crashed and did a hard reset. He was not expecting to get this far…

He gives all his employees off one day and decks out the backyard of his lab with string lights, and sheets, rummaging around the attic of the lab, and a call to his favorite restaurant.

When you arrived you saw the backyard completely transformed into a cozy outdoor movie spot with takeout and snacks prepared at a picnic table

It’s super sweet

Besides that, you two go on “research” dates together. It’s mostly pokemon watching and taking notes on what you find.

You are almost certainly taller than him. This man is like 5’1. That’s not hard to beat.

He isn’t one of those short guys with a complex about being short tho, he doesn’t care at all and is super chill about it

Super strong tho, can easily pick you up

At home, he loves resting his head on your lap or sitting on it as you both read books and chill

He’s not super into PDA, he tries his best to keep his reputation when he’s not hanging out with friends plus he’s not naturally the most touchy-feely guy. 

He’ll do small stuff, like holding your pinkies together or sitting close to you when at a restaurant. 

Mostly keeps your relationship on the down-low, most people don’t know that the General Mahamatra is dating. Just really close friends like Tighnari, Kaveh, Al Haitham, Collei, etc. 

Tries his best to teach you TCG. He wants to share his hyperfixation with you so he helps you build a really great deck and teaches you all the best strategies. 

Writes you really detailed letters when he is on missions or public meetings on behalf of Sumeru. His handwriting is not the best, but the letters are super detailed and long, explaining everything in vivid detail to tell you what it’s like

Monthly (if not weekly) dinners in Gandarvaville with Tighnari and Collei. 

This man is not the best cook. He can cook for himself but he’s used to living on the road with only what he has on his back so his food is bland at best.

He is great at cleaning though. He is very particular about everything having a place but won’t get on your ass about it. Will just pick it up and put it away. 

In the early mornings, he loves waking up with you next to him. He’ll just lay there comfortably and snuggle close

I'm a little in between on it. I know enough about him, he's been appearing all over my Tiktok. But he is one of those characters like Hu Tao, Xingqiu, Chongyun, Barbara, Freminet, Bennett, etc who are around teenagers and I'm almost 20. Should I be writing X Readers for characters like that? I'm uncomfortable writing smut for them so that's a hard no but fluff? Should I write this? He probably first saw you right before he went on his killing spree throughout the Greek Underworld, like every other shade who entered the House of Hades: waiting for a decree from his father.

I love Zag but he isn't the perceptive type. Many souls come through the Throne Room daily, an uncountable number that has to go through admissions, paperwork, etc.

The first time he ran into you though, he caught sight of someone at the entrance struggling to get used to the fire and smoke that Asphodel is engulfed in.

Being the gentleman his father didn't raise him to be, he offered to help you find a better place to make your space.

Taking one of the rafts together was weird for you to say the least. There is really only space for one so he pulled you close, making both of you blush in embarrassment.

I mean, a mortal soul holding onto the chest of the God of Blood and Rebirth? How sweet!

You have to admit, him fighting was brilliant and attractive. He was strong, graceful, and tried his damnedest to protect you (even though you are already dead and can't really get hurt)

About two stops later he introduces you to Euridyce, who is more than happy to take you in like a mother bird protecting her nest.

Zagreus' affection for you mostly grew over time with consistent visits to Euridyce's humble abode

The little things that came out of the three of you talking, you break out of your shell really.

Your laughter and wittiness with both him and Euridyce are major things.

Bandaging up a wound or giving some small drachma to help afford items at Charon's shop.

Your pep-talks and advice when it comes to strategy in the upper levels.

These small gestures of kindness mean the world to someone like Zagreus who didn't have a caring parent or many friends.

He brings little gifts for you too, especially when Persephone returns

Pressed flowers or little things he knicked from the palace for you to use.

He's not ready to tell his feelings yet but he just enjoys the moments he spends with you.

Where have I been?

Hey guys, Blue here! Sorry, I've been gone for a while. Life has kinda been chaotic for the past few months and I felt like you deserve some explanation.

So, background, I'm estranged from my father and his side of the family. So no one told me as next of kin my father and paternal grandmother were in a car accident and no one told me for a month. not a hospital, not my father's sibling, no one.

So I've been dealing with the ramifications of that including, court stuff. I've also been busy with college, work, transferring from my current institution, writing my own novel, etc.

I also am just not as much of a Genshin player as I used to be. I mean, I love it still but I haven't had time to play and I've had other, more pressing hyperfixations (D20, Hades, Pokemon, Hermitcraft, etc). I haven't played in at least four months.

I'll hopefully put out new rules for requests soon and what fics I'm willing to write. I'm gonna clean out my ask box because it was mostly Genshin fics. I'll write what really interests me and I'm sorry if one of your asks may be deleted. I'll hopefully be back soon and I'm sending love to all of you. Love yall!
