Hiii I love your art style soo much its so pretty!! This has probably been asked before but I'd love to know how you go about choosing colours/ making colour palettes because thats something I personally struggle with doing <3

Hiiiii thank you! Okay so usually when i choose my own colours i just pick whatever i feel like looks nice so i don't really have a good explanation for that (yet) lmao, but! i also do this that i think works pretty well too:

which is basically just messing around with the layer filters/Blending Modes of the art programs until i get something that looks nice, not necessarily using the same ones i used here, but any that might work, also sometimes i choose whatever colours (not colour picking) and then do this same process to make them look better :P

wonder how many people in red london would have white or grey london heritage? surely people made some Connections back when there was open travel between londons? besides, all it takes is one particularly slutty antari a hundred or so years ago laying pipe in more than one london to make quite a bunch of descendents.

Do You think their eyes do this in the darker environment?

(what was planned to be a more silly doodle became more of a complexion study - more of my thoughts on their eyes' design under the cut)

I was pretty sure Lae'Zel has reptilian eyes and I suspected crocodilians to be the main inspiration, but after closer inspection, they have beaded pupils, so I think they're most similar to some species of geckos. I'm pleased to inform You that geckos' eyes do in fact dilate in low-light conditions and they're looking exteremely goofy when doing so.

As to what's Karlach's eyes are based on (excluding dragons and other supernatural beings) based on color + shape of the pupil I think they're feline. And if it's true, then huge, round pupils in the dark are self-explanatory. It's of course entirely possible that they're magical eyes and they don't adapt at all (seeing as they glow with their own light), but it's a fun perspective!

I don't really get this take, it's not the first time I've seen it, and it's just... I don't even know.

green is the color of war for her house, but it's also just her house's color, and for a girl ripped up from her life as a hightower and made a Targaryen Queen of all things, she started wearing her house colors compared to her color (blue) or the Targaryen colors (red) probably to cling to some sense of normalcy and identity.

not only that, but from a costuming perspective the symbolism is right there, you're just missing it. it's not about war, that one dress had been war, that's why the comment is made. the color is Alicent no longer trying to be a Targaryen, no longer changing herself and ignoring the pain she's in, and instead being her own person despite her position. she starts wearing green instead of red, the two colors being opposites, when she stops trying to pander to her lost friend, stops trying to fit in and be this new person. she took a stand with that dress, she declared 'war' on this false identity and the fruitless effort she had put in to try and smooth the tensions in the family.

after that, the green is showing she remains herself, a Hightower. not a Targaryen.

I love her green, I love how she holds onto that piece of her, she doesn't let anyone take it or change it. she holds true to herself in this one simple way as to wear her house colors.

also how can you deem a character boring just based on the colors they wear... it's just such a boring and outlandish take.

speaking of colorblind dan which type do we think he is? definitely one in the top row because he can see different shades its just some are harder for him to distinguish (eg. pale blue→purple, warm red->orange)

I've always loved the name "Red-Haired Pirates" because it sounds so cool but also so random. Like of all things, they name it after Shanks' goddamn hair color. Are there not many pirates with red hair besides Shanks? Is there something special about red hair in general in One Piece universe? Or is it Shanks' red hair that is special? Is he sponsored by a shampoo brand?? I don't even think he takes a bath daily.

I mean, when you name a crew, of course you'd like people to associate the name with the actual crew members. And thank god Shanks is an absolute juggernaut so it works and when people say Red Hair, they actually think of Shanks instead of some random ginger head.
