Red Hot Winter Chapter 2

Chapter 2: "I won’t crucify the things you do."

After spending more time with Davina, in which Elena learned that the witch feels suffocated by being forced by Marcel to stay in the attic, even though she loves him because he saved her from a much worse fate, the brunette vampire leaves, promising to come back soon.

"Katherine! Can I ask a favor?" Davina said this before Elena could leave.

"Of course! Anything!" 

"I know you don’t like to go to these types of events, but would you go with me to the Dauphine Street music festival in a few days?"

"Yes, I would love to! But do you think that Marcel would let you?"

"He will. After everything I do for him, he has to let me go out for a night."

"Oh, he better let you!"

Elena left the attic and walked into the streets. She intended to go back to the Originals' mansion but was stopped in her tracks by two vampires.

"Miss Pierce, Marcel would like to see you."

"By all means, lead the way, boys." She said it smiling. Elena was escorted to Marcel's compound, which, according to Rebekah's stories, was where the Mikaelsons lived before he took over. Even though the Originals didn’t live there anymore, Elena recognized their family crest on the walls, well hidden by plants.

She was escorted to what could only have been Klaus’s office at other times; there were even some of his paintings on the walls. What she didn’t expect to find was the hybrid himself beside Marcel, but she guessed he could help corroborate her story.

"Katherine Pierce, as I live and breathe!" Marcel said, smiling and standing up to be in front of her.

"Marcel Gerard, so we meet again." Said Elena, looking at him for the first time. It was easy to see why Rebekah fell in love with him, but it was also easy to see the threat underneath the warmth of his smile.

"I didn’t expect you back in my city so soon after the fun we had last time," He said, touching her face. Well, of course Katherine slept with him, thought Elena. Klaus scoffed at Marcel’s use of "my city."

"I wish I was here to have more fun with you," Said Elena, smiling and leaning into his touch. "But Klaus had other plans for me."

"Well, you see," Klaus started talking, "Ever since Elena Gilbert died, Katerina had decided to stay in Mystic Falls, and since I decided to come back to New Orleans, I thought why not compel Katherine and have her do whatever I wanted her to do?" She did run from me for half a millennium, and it’s only fair."

"You call this fair?" Marcel said, visibly enraged. Marcel did like Katherine.

"Marcel, this is between me and Katerina. And besides, right now all she has to do is look after Hayley." Said Klaus.

"You’re in my city, Klaus; remember that," Said Marcel in a threatening tone, turning to Klaus.

"Marcel," Said Elena, trying to get Marcel to calm down. Somehow she knew that Klaus could and would kill Marcel if he kept pressuring "It’s okay. He won’t do anything to me. Elijah won’t let him. And I just went to see Davina! She wants to go to the Dauphine Street music festival with me."

"I don’t know Kath; it’s too dangerous…"Marcel said, but Elena silenced him with two fingers.

"She’ll be safe with me, Marcel; you know you can trust me." She then kissed her fingers and hugged him.

Okay," Marcel caved in, "But my guys will be watching at all times, and also my friend will come too."

"Which friend?"

"Camille. She’s a bartender." Marcel said, smiling after they separated.

"I’ve been gone for a while, and you already have another friend?" Elena pretended to be jealous.

Now, c'mon, Kath, she’s nothing like you." He kissed her cheek and said, "One day I’ll get you out of Klaus's grasp, I promise."

"Thank you," Elena said, then she kissed him near his mouth.

"I’m impressed," Said Klaus, when both of them got into his car to go back to the Originals' house.

"What? You didn’t think I would be able to pull it off?"

"No. I think you and Katherine are not so different after all."

"Katherine and I are nothing alike."

"That’s where you’re wrong. You both survived me, and apparently, you both fell for Elijah." He said it, smiling.

"What? No, I…" Elena was at a loss for words.

"You think I didn’t know where Marcel was keeping my brother? Of course I did; I helped build that church, Elena."

"I just wanted to know where he was so I could tell Rebekah," Elena said.

"Katerina would be proud of you, Elena."

As soon as they got to the house, Elena found Rebekah and Hayley in the wolf's room, along with someone else that she didn’t recognize.

"Katherine," Said Hayley, standing up. She grabbed Elena by her neck and lifted her against the wall. "You almost had me killed!"

"Well, that didn’t work, did it? Klaus saved you," Elena said, remembering how Klaus, Hayley, and Rebekah filled her in on everything Katherine had done before this point. Elena balanced herself and got Hayley off her carefully. "And besides, Klaus compelled me to your little maid thanks to the five hundred years I spent running from him."

"Katherine Pierce," Said the unknown woman.

"And you are?" Elena said.

"I’m Sabine," The woman said, raising her hand, which Elena was going to grab until Rebekah interrupted her.

"Katherine, come with me."

The brunette and blonde vampires left the room and went into Rebekah's room.

"She’s a witch," said the blonde after closing the door. "If you touch her hand, she’s going to know you’re not Katherine."

"A little heads up would’ve been nice," Said Elena.

"I’m sorry, I had to take care of Hayley. She was attacked too last night."

"Is everyone in this family going to get attacked? Is this what’s going to happen to me?"

"Not if you play your cards right. Now tell me, did you find him?"

"I did! I found Elijah! He’s in the attic, in the church, with Marcel’s witch. Her name is Davina. She can’t control her powers yet, but Marcel asked her to kill him anyway, but Elijah doesn’t believe she will. He asked me, "

"Wait, he talked to you?"

"Yes, I touched his hand, and he told me what to do. He asked you to bring him your mother's grimoire. Do you know where it is?"

"Yes, I do! Did he tell you anything else?"

"He asked me to take care of Hayley because he doesn’t trust Klaus, and..."

"And…?"

"And that the vampires of New Orleans think he and Katherine are having a relationship, so he and I will have to pretend once he is out of his coffin."

"Oh, I guess knowing it's you and not Katherine makes it better for me."

"What do you mean?"

"Elijah certainly has a type. I think he fell for you, Elena; coming back to Katherine was a relapse. And he was the one that brought you back, not the torture session from the Salvatore boys."

"I don’t know how to feel about this."

"I think this time you need a man, Elena, not a boy. And from the looks of it, you’re not going to have much time to think. Elijah is going to get himself out of that coffin, and he is going all in for the kill, even if in public he has to call you Katherine or Katerina."

Rebekah knew which spell her brother was talking about. It was a spell to unlink two people. He wanted to break the spell Sophie’s sister had cast. The vampire removed the page from the grimoire and gave it to Elena, who put it in her pocket. Both of them returned to Hayley’s room, but she was no longer there. They found her with Sabine in the kitchen. Hayley was lying on the counter, and the witch was in some sort of trance.

"I thought witches couldn’t do spells," Said Elena.

"It’s not a spell. She’s just figuring out the sex of the baby," Said Hayley.

"Yeah, I’m pretty sure you could go to a hospital and get the same answer." The brunette vampire said this, thinking something was wrong. And she was right. Right before Sabine said the sex of the baby, she made a horrified expression.

"It's a girl," Sabine said, smiling. "You're having a girl."

Hayley and Rebekah were static, but Elena was suspicious. Sure, Elijah would love to know he was having a niece run around the house soon, but still, something was off.

Sabine took off shortly after, and while Rebekah filled Hayley in on the news about Elijah, Elena followed Sabine.

She ended up in the city's cemetery. Following the witch closely behind, she watched the woman get into an old crypt.

"The wolf is having a girl, but the baby is going to be powerful. More powerful than any other creature that’s ever existed, it's one of its kind," Said Sabine.

"What did you expect? She’s the daughter of an aberration; of course, it's a threat, not only to us but to the balance of nature itself." Said an older witch. "I don’t like what I’m going to do, but it needs to be done."

That older witch grabbed an ancient box with an old syringe inside. Two other warlocks brought Sophie into the crypt.

Please, Agnes, don’t do this!" Begged Sophie

"Your sister shouldn’t have done this in the first place!" Said the witch named Agnes, putting whatever was inside the syringe inside Sophie.

Sophie passed out immediately, and the other witches and warlocks left the crypt. As soon as everyone was out, Elena got in and grabbed Sophie, taking her to the Originals' house.

Elena left Sophie inside her room in the Originals' house. She didn’t know what was inside that syringe, but she knew it couldn’t be good since Sophie was linked to Hayley.

The brunette vampire came back to the attic; this time it was empty. Davina was most likely in the shower since Elena could hear water running.

Elena simply removed the dagger from Elijah’s chest, just like she had done in the past, and left the spell inside his suit jacket. They needed him more than ever now.

Sophie woke up two days later in the living room. Elena had told Rebekah what had happened because Klaus was nowhere to be found.

"You have two seconds to tell me exactly what was in that syringe before I kill you," said Elena, in a very Katherine manner.

"It’s an old potion. It’s meant to abort a baby. I’m not pregnant, but Hayley is," Said Sophie.

"Unlink yourself from her right now!" Demanded Rebekah, with her hand around Sophie’s neck and her fangs starting to show up in her mouth.

"I can’t! Marcel will know, and I’ll die!" Sophie said. 

"Sister, if you kill her, our niece will die too. So if you please, remove your hands from her neck," Said a very polite voice.

Rebekah dropped Sophie on the couch. That voice could only belong to one person.

"Elijah!" She said, happily, she was going to hug him.

Elijah hugged her back and kissed her cheek. Rebekah separated herself from him and smiled at Elena.

"Katerina," Said Elijah, smiling. He walked up to her, and one of his hands went to her waist while the other went to her face. "I missed you," He said sincerely, almost whispering. Then he kissed her so tenderly and so sweetly, like he was worshiping her. Elena kissed him back, her hands going to his hair, as if Katherine would do it, but mostly for herself. She always wanted to know what his hair felt like.

He ended the kiss with a peck on her lips. "Come with me, help me pick another outfit"

"Yes," said Elena, breathless.

They both went up the stairs, Elijah never letting go of her hand, while Rebekah and Sophie went to take care of Hayley, who was starting to develop a fever.

Elena walked into Elijah’s room. It was very spacious, with a king-size bed and two large windows with white curtains. He had modern things, like a smart TV and a stereo, but the room also had space for a desk with some papers on it, along with shelves with books and a walk-in closet packed with suits but, surprisingly for Elena, regular clothes as well.

"I’ll make space for you here."

"What?" Asked Elena.

"I know you’re here of your own free will, but I don’t trust my brother Elena. I’ll feel better if you’re in my room with me. And besides, we have to put on a little show, don’t we?" He said this, smiling at her, picking up his suit and changing in front of her, removing his shirt first.

"Elijah!" She said, turning around somehow mortified. The original vampire chuckled.

"We’re playing a couple, Elena; we might as well behave like one." He said "It’s okay if you want to look at me while I’m changing." He said this, whispering in her ear and kissing her neck, making Elena tremble. He smiled and stepped away from her to put on his suit.

Elena turned around.

"How do I look?" Asked Elijah.

"Dashing as always," Elena replied, smiling.

Hayley’s fever was getting worse as the day went by. The concoction Sophie made had helped a bit, but Hayley depended on Davina's ability to unlinked both of them. Elijah had faith in the young witch, saying that if she completed that spell, she could choose the next spell they would work on. It was already night, and they didn’t know what else to do to get her fever down.

"Take her to the pool!" Elena said. "The water is freezing; it will make her body temperature go down!"

Elijah grabbed Hayley, and both of them got inside the pool. Hayley was having convulsions and holding onto her belly. Elena got into the water, not caring if her impersonation would blow or not. She held Hayley’s body along with Elijah's.

"Davina is going to make it; I know she is," Elijah said, almost sounding scared.

"Elijah, it’s going to be okay." Said Elena, looking deep into his eyes.

All of a sudden, Hayley’s body stopped moving. Sophie grabbed a knife to check if they were unlinked by making a small cut on her palm. Elena grabbed Hayley’s palm. It wasn’t bleeding. They were unlinked.

"It worked," said Elena.

Elijah breathed out in relief and was about to take Hayley inside when Sophie asked him something.

"Please don’t let Klaus kill Agnes. She’s one of our ancestors; she didn’t know what she was doing."

"Agnes won’t die at my brothers' hands; you have my word," Said Elijah.

Elena was following him, only to be stopped by Sophie.

"The Katherine I knew would’ve never gotten into that pool."

"If Hayley dies, I die, remember? I’m Katherine Pierce; I’m a survivor." Elena said, "If you pull another stunt like this against us, I don’t think you’ll survive to tell the tale. Elijah has a rather bad habit of ripping out people’s hearts.

After making sure Hayley was safe inside her room with Rebekah watching over her, both Elena and Elijah got changed. Elijah had gotten a phone call from Klaus to meet him in the church.

"I’ll go with you. I don’t trust Klaus around you," Said Elena. They both got into Elijah’s car and got to the church shortly after.

"Elijah! Katherine! Welcome to the party! You see, while you two were making sure that Hayley was safe, I was hunting down the witches that had threatened my family. And I found them here!" Said Klaus, going around the church killing the witches one by one but leaving Agnes for last. "This one here is the one that poisoned my heir. What am I going to do with you?"

"Niklaus, you asked for my forgiveness, remember? You shall have it if you don’t kill Agnes. I promised Sophie she wouldn’t die at your hands. If you want my forgiveness, this is how you shall have it."

Klaus let go of Agnes’s neck. Elena knew what was following and looked down.

Elijah went to Agnes, who was crying.

"I promised Sophie you wouldn’t die at my brother's hands; I didn’t say anything about mine." Elijah put his hand inside her chest and said, "No one messes with my family and lives," and then he removed her heart.

The first time Elijah had done this in front of her, it had certainly terrified her. It proved to her that he was a very powerful man, not to be messed with.

Elena doesn’t condone violence in the slightest, but she had seen what those witches had done. They would’ve killed Hayley’s baby. That should’ve been a decision that Hayley should've made, and she decided to keep the baby. She knew the Mikaelsons would do anything for each other, but now she has seen it, and she was in the middle of it. Right where she should be.

"You two love birds Go ahead; I need to do something before I get home. I need to tell someone justice was done."

Elijah got a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe his hand, grabbing Elena by his other hand.

"I’m sorry you had to see that," He said.

"Well, it’s not the first time I’ve seen you rip someone’s heart out," She said.

"Elena," He said, putting both of his hands on the car, trapping her between the car and his body. "Thank you for removing the dagger from my chest."

"Well, I did dagger you once, if I recall correctly."

"You were trying to stay alive and didn’t know if you could trust me. I don’t blame you."

"I still feel bad for it, though."

"You don’t have to. It’s not your fault. You helped me with Hayley tonight. And looked out for her when I wasn’t there. Thank you."

"I was just keeping my word."

"This...relationship that we have to fake. I don’t want to fake it with you, Elena. I want you. All of you"

Elena’s heart was beating so loudly that she knew Elijah could hear it.

"Elijah…"

"I know you might be afraid of history repeating itself because of what happened between me and Katerina, but I assure you my lovely Elena, she is in the past. I want you."

And with that, he kissed her. He kissed her like she'd never been kissed before. It was not like she was with Stefan and Damon. It was so much better, like she was in heaven, as if Elijah was perfectly made for her, or as if she was made for him. The best part about being a vampire is that you don’t need to breathe. So Elijah grabbed one of her legs, wrapping it around his waist, while his other went inside her t-shirt. And to think that one of his hands, which had ripped out a heart just half an hour earlier, was now on her back. Her hands went to his hair, pulling it hard from his roots, which he seemed to like. It was the softest thing she had ever touched.

Hey, love birds, this is a church, not a motel!" Said Father Kieran, he said, interrupting them. Elena hid her face in Elijah's neck, holding back a burst of laughter.

"I’m sorry, Father, for I have sinned." Said Elijah.

Elijah and Elena got into the car, and holding each other's hands, they got back to the house.

Before we meet Keelin, she was a normal girl (for a werewolf). Keelin Malraux was raised by older parents, Thomas (Tom) and Bethany (Betty). Her mother having already made the chose to step away from her pack and marry a human and live a 'normal' life with him before Keelin was born.

Keelin was 14 when she triggered her werewolf gene when she accidentally killed someone at a Halloween party. She handed another child a chocolate bar that had nuts in it and the person has an allergic reaction and died, triggering Keelin's werewolf gene. Her parents helped her through it, and she made peace with what had happened, deciding that she was going to become a doctor and try and help people.

Keelin had just finished high school when Lucien tracked down their family in 2009. Her grandmother managing to get a call to them before she was killed. Keelin and her parents and brother went into hiding, changing their last names to Taylor and disappearing from their old lives. Keelin lived like this, unwilling to connect with people knowing they wouldn't understand, until she met Freya in 2015.

Freya turned up, looking for Keelin's family, needing her werewolf venom to save her own family. And when Keelin's brother called to say Lucien's people/hunters tasked with ending the Malraux bloodline had found him - Freya came with Keelin and they saved her brother from being killed. (Just going to headcanon that in the canon version Keelin lost her brother and parents because she wouldn't met Freya/Hayley for another few years). After this; Keelin agreed to help Freya in return and woke up the rest of the Mikaelsons and saved Klaus.

The two ended up hitting it off and started dating shortly after, staying where Keelin lived in Austin, Texas while Keelin was still in med school. The two got married before they relocated to New Orleans, so that Freya could open the Mikaelson Boarding School in 2020.

In New Orleans Keelin and Freya lived in a pent house apartment in the central district neighbourhood (see here) that they brought and had always planned to move out of when their family grew, but ended up raising their kids there. They also relocated Keelin's parents to New Orleans and they lived in the same building as Freya and Keelin (who passed away recently from old age). Freya and Keelin adopted/their own biological children using IVF with the help of Keelin's brother as a donor (some suggest names can be found here). Keelin worked at the New Orleans hospital and on the side at the Mikaelson Boarding School, till 10 years ago (in 2030 after Freya and Keelin had been together for 15 years) when someone came into the hospital with a knife and Keelin was killed when on shift, leaving her family alone.

Keelin will be just back from the dead and looking to work out her life.

Eerie coincidences leading up to season 8's Goodbye Stranger

I swore I'd never talk about this episode, but it features a jealous guy named Spencer (he who "dispenses"), a "Jimmy," and a girl named after the "forgiveness" character in The Merchant of Venice and is reminiscent of Porsche/"fancy car."

But I will say that this is so very, very, incredibly, jaw-droppingly Chuck-coded:

SPENCER: Of course you don't. Neither of you ever considered my feelings. JAMES: Portia? This is about her? SPENCER: Can you imagine the insult when she chose you? I wanted her as my soul mate the moment I saw her. When she picked you...I endured it. But when you two went all Bella and Edward, broke the code, put your passions before the community rules, well, the arrogance, the entitlement was too much. Your total ruination seemed appropriate.

This is the infamous, cruel, disrespectful 8x15 Man's Best Friend with Benefits. (Skip it, it's not worth the egregious racism). Nevertheless, there is a remarkably consistent throughline running through many of these throwaway episodes, coming just before 8x17 Goodbye Stranger.

James "Jimmy" is a man being forced to "act out" murders, just as Cas is acting out and committing murders for Heaven. Like Cas, he's pushing his (would-be) lover away. He shouts her to "GO," Just as Cas shouted Dean to "GO" in Purgatory.

When I think about the ruination of the Nephilim-coded things being destroyed in seasons 8 and 15, all I can see is Chuck sundering Earth from Heaven.

And here, in 8x16 Remember the Titans, we have a Zeus behaving remarkably similar to how The Empty does in 14x08 Byzantium. Zeus cursed Prometheus to die over and over, and his seven-year-old son is now awakening to the same fate.

The Prometheus himself is dressed a little bit as season 1 Sam, as a boy hated by God, but narratively, he's Cas.

SAM: Of course not. You were afraid big daddy would find out that you fell for the person he hates most in this world.

Makes you wonder if Cas's instincts are right? Perhaps, Chuck actually hates Cas. Perhaps, it really is a sadistic punishment resurrection, and he actually lives and breathes to see Cas and Dean separated.

[The entity kicks CASTIEL.] COSMIC ENTITY: Just let’s lay down. Let’s just try and sleep. Hmm? Think about it. Infinite peace, yes? No regrets. No pain. Kiddo, save yourself.

I think Chuck is absolutely seething over Cas and Dean being in love in season 8.

Cas did not steal fire, but he did rip up the pages at the end of season 4. In season 10, his grace is reintroduced in a library, amongst fluttering pages, as a story-destroyer.

The theme of the angel-human hybrid family is ever-present in season 8, and the total ruination of the hybrid angel-human family is ongoing in season 15.

At the end, only Sam's family remains. The "pure," "good," "Noah-like" one. Heaven and Earth are split once more.

Callum’s journey began in the picturesque confines of a quaint village nestled on the outskirts of Wicklow, Ireland. He was the youngest of three siblings, born into a household brimming with love and determination, thanks to his hardworking parents. However, it was within the rhythm of the music that Callum discovered his first and enduring love, an affair that began with the dulcet tones of old Elvis records, cherished memories of bonding with his Dad, and a slice of nostalgia that remained intact even in the music-saturated nineties of Ireland.

His passion for music was an unbroken thread that wove through the fabric of his life. Initially, it was the piano that captured his interest, but soon he stumbled upon his true muse—the guitar. This newfound love would propel him on a remarkable journey.

When Callum was just twelve years old, fate took his family on a life-changing excursion to Nashville. There, they visited his great aunt Margaret, who, in her own right, was a musician of modest recognition, having wedded a relatively well-known country singer named Hank Smith. In Ireland, Hank’s fame was a distant echo, known only to a few southern and country music aficionados. Yet, for Callum, gazing upon Hank was like encountering a musical deity. In 2014, Hayley dropped a bombshell—she was pregnant. Callum, just twenty at the time, welcomed the news with a grin of excitement. Shortly after giving birth to their daughter, Aoibheann Flynn, Hayley left, leaving Callum heartbroken and alone in her hometown, surrounded by her friends and family, with their precious child.

In the wake of this heartbreak, Callum had to pivot his focus towards raising their innocent baby girl alone. Music took a backseat as he entered the world of hard work, and both sets of grandparents extended their support in every possible way. Hayley’s family cared for Aoibheann when he had to work, while his parents sent financial aid whenever they could.

Determined to provide the best for his daughter, Callum embarked on an arduous journey. He saved diligently, and eventually, he accumulated enough to enroll in a college in the city. This meant more long days and nights away from Aoibheann, but his unwavering commitment to her propelled him forward. Four challenging years later, he emerged with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Music.

An opportunity arose for a music teaching position at Oakland, and Callum seized it with both hands. This initial step led to a role as an elementary teacher, finally allowing him to breathe a sigh of relief. He believed that they would be okay, that Aoibheann would be okay. They had a cozy apartment, the essentials, and a little girl who had her toys and trinkets, and they were content. Yet, as eight years slipped by in a blur, Callum couldn’t help but feel a longing for something more. He had devoted all his energy to his daughter, and in the process, he had neglected himself. Loneliness crept in, and with few friends to turn to, he found himself yearning to reconnect with his surroundings, his community, and rediscover the world beyond the confines of their small apartment. Callum was now on a quest to reconnect with everything he had left behind—the town, the people, and friendships long neglected.

“Seems like a married couple” but are not - they click instantly and give off that old married couple vibe but are strictly friends

BE MY WINGMAN (BUT TAKE ME HOME): give me a plot where MUSE A and MUSE B, while best friends, are on total opposites of the spectrum – MUSE A is a total ladies-man/maneater, while MUSE B is incredibly awkward and fumbly around the opposite sex. they go out to bars, to clubs, to dinner or to brunch – it doesn’t matter. MUSE A finds it hard to leave without getting the waiter/bartender’s number, while MUSE B tries to figure out if the human body will ever be capable of controlling the blush response. after witnessing the millionth strikeout during a night out at the bars, MUSE A decides to give MUSE B some pointers – except MUSE B has never felt more comfortable flirting, even if just for practice, with anyone else before.

THE AWKWARD ONE: MUSE A saves MUSE B from a date that’s turned out to be a completely horrible, awkward, and embarrassing dumpster fire. MUSE A is at the bar drinking and shooting pool with friends and has been watching the disaster unfold all night – keeping tabs on the long & drawn out gaps of silence, tallying each and every forced smile shared. MUSE A along with his friends, even have a bet going as to who will up and leave the table first. while waiting for their drink at the bar – likely trying to catch a break from the miserable reality that exists back at their table – MUSE B strikes up conversation with MUSE A and suddenly it’s almost as if every joke and flirtation that’d been set off and misfired previously found the exact right place to land…

Hope wanted to make this choice before others yanked it from her hands. This wasn't something that Hope was thinking of doing on a whim. But everyone in the family thinks she isn't being rational. Her heart and brain have never been more in line with one another. One day, a threat was going to knock on their door that required them to access her full potential. When Hope told everyone it was during a family meeting, Her voice was even and steady. The dining room table was filled with pastries, alcohol, and fruit. It was almost as if Hope thought a celebration of life was in order. Valkyrie had been sitting on Hope's lap under the table. Her fingers brushed through the soft fur of her beloved animal when no one could notice. The overhand fan buzzed with each twirl, but it was cooling everyone that needed it. Hope was thankful, given that she was sweating thanks to the Louisiana heat.

BELLE : I CAN'T LOSE YOU AGAIN.

Everything turns on a dim. The calmness in her body twists. Fingers shaking in her cat's fur that only grinds down into her body. It was 15 pounds of pure animal that nuzzled into her stomach to try and center her. A deep breath is taken before Hope responds without thinking. ❝ I'm not leaving you! ❞ Hope's voice wasn't calm, and it wasn't even anymore. It became more high-pitched and full of stress. ❝ Even if some, I'd love to not be here. I can't seem to escape this earth. ❞ The sad thing was Hope had tried. She jumped off a ledge into a literal pit of doom to try and get rid of her pain. But even hell adjacent didn't want her. It spat her back to the same twisted fate she had been running from for years.

HOW IS SHE SUPPOSED TO TAKE IT ANY OTHER WAY? Hope is taking her fate in her own hands, having her say before the choice is RIPPED away from her and yet, Belle can't stop her hands from shaking at the thought. (Their mom had chosen to die to save them and never came back. Hope's a tribrid, her come back is practically written in the stars but that doesn't stop the fear that she's losing what's left of her family.)

"Just because you'll come back, doesn't mean I won't still have to watch you die!" Like Henry, like mom. Belle's the youngest in a family that's been dwindling since she was born, lost to murder and treachery, self-sacrifice in the face of those that DESPISED them for something none of them could help.

(She's still choosing to leave her, even if only temporarily.)

Being there for it isn't even a choice, How else will she know it works? That her stupidly brave older sister hasn't just killed herself for nothing, left Belle to truly fend for herself with family that feels like they only truly care about her as Hope's sister, Hayley's daughter, not Belle.

ahhhhh, here we go! You're getting a new headcanon for every star.

Hayley initially wanted to call her daughter ❛ Zoe❜  not just because she liked the sound of the name but because it means ❛ life ❜ and that was how she thought of her baby, a new life, her new life.

Hayley was sire bound to Hope. She broke the bond within the first few weeks after Hope's birth, mainly because she was unable to stand the sensation that her baby was calling out for her help and she couldn't help her. It was one of the reasons she became so good at shifting in her wolf form, having spent weeks breaking the bond. However, after she broke the bond, she felt like she'd severed a connection with her daughter and that hurt worse.

She always feels like she's failed Hope because she's been a single mother for most of her life and witnessed how much Hope wants her dad. She's insecure that she hasn't been good enough, that she's not wanted as much as Klaus.

Whilst Hope was growing up, they always shared a bed because Hayley needed to feel her daughter in her arms to feel at peace. Also, whilst Hope was sleeping, sometimes Hayley would enter her mind and her dreams just so she could experience the innocence of Hope's world and calm herself when life was hard.

One of Hayley's favourite memories of Hope is watching her daughter laugh with the other Crescent children, getting to experience what Hayley never had a chance to: growing up with her pack. She wishes Hope had been closer to the wolves and I absolutely believe she would have encouraged this, and Hope's connection to the wolves, more than they did in the show.

Whilst they were on the run, Hayley would tell Hope stories about their family by telling her that her father had sacrificed himself to save them all and that the family loved Hope more than anything in the world, that they weren't with them because they were trying to protect her but they would all be reunited soon, because she was terrified that Hope would feel the same abandonment she had.

There is absolutely no one that Hayley would not sacrifice for Hope. She would like to think that she wouldn't, that she wouldn't place innocent lives before that of her daughter's ( in later years ) but she absolutely would. In Legacies, the necromancer says that Hope is like her father because she'll cross every line to save what she loves, but in fact she gets that from Hayley.

Hayley wholeheartedly believes that she was fated to be Hope's mother. No matter how it had come around, somehow she would have met and slept with Klaus and Hope would have been born. She cannot imagine a world otherwise. Hope is and always will be Hayley's endgame.

The last thing Hayley thought of before she burned was Hope's face.

Always & Forever: Complaints

As with anything, TO suffers from writers disease. It suffers from a case of too much plot, annoying characters, and the sort of character assassinations that comes from playing tug of war with a character to make them fit a given plot. It is perhaps my biggest pet peeve, and it's certainly not unique to The Originals.

In the interest of keeping things neat, I'm going to try for a bulleted list. (split in two apparently, since tumblr thinks I talk too much)

My chief complaint, and this goes for the whole series, was the moments when the writers changed things for the sake of plot. Nowhere was this more egregious than season 4. We go from Hayley, at the beginning, saying that she has done things she is not proud of to keep her daughter safe and get back the people that she loves, and telling Elijah she wants to build a life with him, to talking about how the Mikaelsons, and Elijah specifically, are not safe for for Hope. She is suddenly shocked by Elijah's past, by his ruthlessness in the face of protecting the people that they love, and it doesn't mesh at all with what we know from the previous 4 seasons. Hayley has always known who and what Elijah is, and has been with him in his darkest moments since he came back to New Orleans. They keep nothing from each other. There should be nothing that surprises her anymore, especially because she is just as willing to do whatever it takes to save the people she loves. She says it, explicitly, several times. Even at the end of season 3, after Davina and Marcel, she is nothing but supportive and loving. Their final talk is almost beautiful, with the desperate way they say I love you, and their final kiss, but the bits leading up to that were both out of character and wholly unnecessary. And frankly, with Elijah and Hayley being arguably the least toxic relationship in the entirety of the TVDU, I'd argue choosing them as a time for the writers to express some sort of weird quasi-feminist morality was--a choice.

Season 5 was wholly unnecessary. It added nothing to story, and served really only to further destroy characters and relationships that had been a core of the show. In all honesty, season 5 should never have existed, and a few of the actors could have made guest appearances on season 1 of Legacies, and that would have been enough. Their fates at the end of season 4 were thematically exactly perfect for each character--there was really no need to go further, and killing Klaus and Elijah and making Rebekah human add nothing to the story.

From season 5, I would keep the following: Kol and Hope being close (it makes sense bc of the witch connection, and Kol is fine with physical distance), Marcel and Hope (are we seeing a connection here--again, Marcel and Hope being close makes sense, and then you have a way of getting info about Rebekah and etc, and having Hayley maintain some sort of tie to the family. After all, Marcel is a Mikaelson too), Klaus watching over Elijah and killing his enemies between bouts of debauchery (I actually really liked that bit--Klaus will sort of fade into the shadows, become the myth, forever keeping his family safe, but never able to see them), Rebekah rejecting Marcel's initial proposal (I would still have her go to see Elijah, just bc she's scared and guilty and wants her big brother and even though he isn't him, she finds some peace). Hayley I would have probably pretty much offscreen, but I would NOT kill her, maybe she is staying at the school and helping, or helping wolves, etc. She is content with her daughter (no love interest, but once a year she goes to France and Elijah gets his memories back and they have one day together (leave me alone okay I get to have this)) and the rest of the time she is just a mom to the one person who matters more than anything.

I also really hated the whole super vampire plot. It was dumb and super extra and having there be a "super vampire who can kill even originals" just felt--weird. and dumb. I liked the outcome (the 5 year time jump and such) but idk. This show kept one-upping itself in the bad guy department, and it got old fast.

The random several episode love interests that went no where. Gia, the redhaired witch whose name I don't recall, the annoying vampire hunter (Sofia or something idk). None of them were interesting or added anything to the story, and frankly could have been left out with no consequence.

A cough croaked involuntarily from your mouth, dust, and debris floating in the air. You try to stand up, to see if anyone around you was okay, but you couldn’t. You raise your head and groan, noticing your leg was stuck under a large piece of wood. Rapid searing pain shot down your leg, and you could see a bit of fresh blood coming out of the wound.

You know you shouldn’t have messed with anything—messed with Klaus. You should’ve known that he would’ve tried to get you to meet your demise.

You pushed the wrong buttons of the wrong person. Ultimately, he just wanted to protect his sister, which you knew. And with Klaus being Klaus, the only way he knew how was through violence.

However, that still doesn’t excuse any of his murderous actions that he’s sent your way.

Rebekah could date whomever she wanted to and love whomever she wanted to. Klaus maybe her brother, but she was still her own person. She could make her own decisions even if that means dating a human.

“Sister, you can’t be with a human.”

Rebekah scoffed at her brother and rolled her eyes. He sneered at the two of you when she wrapped an arm around your waist.

“She can do what she wants Klaus. You’re not in control of her as much as you think you are.”

Both Rebekah and Klaus’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. None of her past lovers had stood up to him like that--none that were human anyway. Every human that Rebekah had dated previously, always ran away from her when Klaus got involved.

Klaus was always relieved when she came to their family home and a human was wrapped around her finger. He could count on their fear to take over, and they’d run away.

However, that stopped with you.

“What did you just say, mortal?”

His vampire speed caught up with you, his gold eyes and sharp teeth were threatening you. Your heartbeat had quickened slightly at the sudden movement, however, you remained as unaffected as possible.

You stared into his hybrid eyes, looking almost bored. You knew that it only made him angrier, he looked like he was seething. Your eyes left him to look at Rebekah and saw her standing in front of you. She was blocking his path and you knew she was going to protect you with her life.

Klaus's glare flickered towards you again, “watch your back, little human.” And with that, he sped off in the opposite direction of the house.

In all truth, you didn’t want to be a vampire; you didn’t want an immortal life. You wanted to grow old someday and then have a grave next to that person.

Nevertheless, you knew what you signed up for when you started a relationship with her. At this point in your relationship, you knew that if you needed to, that you would let her turn you in a heartbeat.

You hadn’t said those three little words to Rebekah yet. It’d been hard with your last lover, considering that they weren’t all too kind and loving. Luckily, Rebekah knew of your situation and was there every step of the way. She never pressured you or made you rush into things, which you were always appreciative of.

However, now you were tangled in the Mikaelson family. You had pissed off Klaus for telling him off and defending your girlfriend.

You cursed to yourself as excruciating pain intensified on your chest. Your eyes trailed up to your chest to see more fresh, running blood coming out. You could feel something poking and prodigy into your chest—into the crevice of your rib cage.

“What’s this?”

Elijah looked over at you in intrigue. On the bar table was a small velvet box, just big enough for a ring. You nodded at the box, indicating that he should open to see what’s inside. His eyes flickered over to you and then to the small box, carefully opening it.

“A wedding ring? You haven’t even told each other your affections.”

You laughed towards the Original Vampire and shook your head, taking the small box back from him and placing it back in your pocket. You took a sip of your whiskey, letting it burn the back of your throat before continuing.

“It’s a promise ring. With my ex, I was never really shown any love. She would always tear me down every second that she got. That’s why I wanted to take things slow with Rebekah. I was scared of the same thing happening to her but I don’t want to be afraid anymore. I just want to be in love.”

“Do you?”

You fully down the rest of your whiskey, relishing in the bitter taste. You turned towards the vampire with a confused look on your face.

“What?”

Elijah let out a breath. Your first thought was that of annoyance but then you saw the bright smile on his face as he turned towards you.

“Do you love her?” You looked over at him with a smile graced upon your lips. He could hear your heartbeat start to rise.

“More than I’ve ever loved before.”

After your conversation with Elijah, he left you alone at the bar. Hayley had called him about getting groceries and something to do with the baby. So he bid you goodbye and off he went.

You just wished he stayed a bit longer and maybe you would be able to get help. Maybe you wouldn’t be stuck under a log and a piece of debris lodged into your chest. Maybe Klaus wouldn’t have ignited the bomb if he knew his brother was in there with you.

You couldn’t help but let a few tears slip down your cheeks. Was this how you were going to die? You didn’t even get a chance to tell the one girl you love how you feel. A hiccup places itself upon your lips as more tears roll down your cheeks.

You let out an air of relief as a bystander ran into the destroyed bar yelling for any survivors. You screamed over at them to help you and they called the ambulance immediately. However, you were putting up a fight. Sure, you needed medical attention but it seems that all you could muster up was:

“I need to see her.”

You limped up to the Mikaelson house, wincing a bit as you walked up the steps. It was honestly amazing how much your body was resilient. The wrath and adrenaline that was surging through you was keeping you alive and awake.

The only thing crossing your mind was Rebekah and the disdain for Klaus. Your emotions were raging out and you needed Klaus to see you—alive. You needed that satisfaction that he couldn’t kill you, despite being mortal.

“I’m sorry, sister, she was in that accident.” Klaus’s voice was mixed with faux sweetness and sorrow. What made your heart clench was the loud cries coming from Rebekah and her screams in anguish only got louder.

You slammed open the door with your arm and everyone had their eyes locked on yours. Klaus’s eyebrows shot up in surprise at the fact that you were standing before them with crusted blood and wooden wreckage.

Rebekah ran towards you and enveloped you in a hug, her soft cries loud in your ears. You tried to hold her as good as you could but it was hard from the pain. You whispered sweet nothings into her ear as she calmed down—your presence and being alive had already soothed her pain.

“Couldn’t kill me, Klaus? A little Ole mortal like me has bested you.”

You could hear the feral growl escape his throat and before he could take any step closer, Rebekah put herself in front of you with her hand wrapped around your wrist.

“You’re such a coward, brother. I understand that you’re protective but this? You intentionally killed my love. She’s not like the others, don’t you get that? She’s understanding and brace and kind unlike you.”

You grit your teeth as a tiny second of pain flashed across his face. Blood now coated your mouth, your teeth were outlined in the red liquid. You tried to speak in rage towards your lovers brother but you suddenly became fainter. Rebekah quickly caught on and turned around, giving you all her attention.

“You’re bleeding—how long have you been hiding this?!”

You sadly smile at Rebekah, feeling weaker and weaker as you stand. You tried to open your mouth and the rest of her siblings could only watch in shock at your fate. You reach out to her as you go limp, your legs failing you at that moment. She swiftly catches you in her arms and holds you as close as possible.

She swiftly runs to the couch as Elijah and Hayley move every little piece of junk off of it. She gently laid you down on the cushion surface and yelled for someone to go get an aid kit. Her hands were softly stroking your hair as she tried to keep you awake.

Elijah finally ran over with an aid kit and tried his best to clean the blood but it seemed as if everything was running out of time. You turned towards Rebekah and gripped her hand tightly.

“I love you.”

Rebekah leaned in and placed soft kisses upon your lips and cheeks. She squeezed your hand a bit harder.

“This isn’t goodbye.”

She continued to give you little kisses and tears ran down her cheeks. She wanted so badly to save you but she knew that you didn’t want to be immortal. She respected your wishes more than hers.

“Say it, baby. I don’t have much time.” Elijah and Hayley were trying their hardest to locate the lodged debris in your lungs but nothing seemed to be working. Rebekah screamed at them to try harder but you shushed her, making her turn your attention towards you.

Tears slipped down her cheeks as she continued to hold you, your breath becoming more shallow. She kept shaking her head every time you asked her to say those three words. She didn’t want to lose you, she couldn’t.

“I need you to live…because if you’re gone then, I don’t know what the point of it all is anymore.”

A smile graces your lips as you try to pull something out of your pocket but the pain is too much. She reaches over for you and takes it out, gasping at the little velvet box. She puts the promise ring on her finger and presses a sweet kiss to your lips.

Tears well in her eyes again at the thought of losing you like this. She thinks hard about the decision she’s about to make and the consequences, but she can’t lose you.

“I love you, y/n. I’m sorry.”

You open your mouth in confusion and watch as she sinks her sharp teeth into her wrist. Blood seeps out and she presses it onto your lips. You try and not let the copper-tasting liquid in but she forces more into your mouth.

Your eyes flutter close, and you let yourself drink the thick liquid. You could already feel it working, and your wound seemed to heal by the second. She lets her wrist off of your mouth and watches as you already start to look much better.

After a couple of minutes of letting the blood heal, you pick yourself up, and push her into a bone-crushing hug.

“Glad you already feel better, human.”

You couldn’t even react before Klaus vampire sped over to your now healed form. Rebekah tried to run over to you but Klaus was too fast. He gripped your neck with his large hands and twisted your neck —breaking it in two.

All you could hear was the cracking sound that your bones made, and the screams that filled your room. Your vision turned black, and you hit the ground with a thud, letting the darkness take over.

“Now you can be together forever, sister.”

Wicked Game

Din always knew his life would be a short one—that Mandalorians don’t exactly have the luxury of growing old and living a full life. He accepted the fate his creed bestowed upon him long ago, but he never realized how painful it would be.

Not physically—in fact, he can hardly feel anything as he lies against the giant slab of duracrete in what’s left of the cantina. Right now, his pain cuts far deeper than physical. He feels it in his very bones, this soulful ache for something that he knows will never be. 

Among the fallen rubble and blaster fire, he barely registers a light pressure on his hand, his fingers beginning to go numb. Your face—stained with soot and dried blood—comes into view and it takes everything in him not to sob out your name, knowing it may be the last time he has the honor of voicing such a sweet sound. 

“I’m here, Din. I’m not gonna leave you. I...I know you’re in pain, but do you think you have the strength to move?” you ask in a desperate voice, your eyes wide and glossy—either from the smoke in the air or from your own emotions getting the best of you, he’s not sure.

“C-cyar’ika,” he whispers, but a thick warmth gets caught in his throat and he falls into a coughing fit, the sharp taste of iron confirming what he already knew to be true. 

Blood is filling his lungs and he knows he doesn’t have much time left. 

“Don’t try to speak. Save your energy,” you rush out, swallowing hard and nodding your head as if you’re answering for him. You look over to Cara and Greef as they watch your exchange with matching, sorrowful expressions. 

“We have to carry him out, he can’t move,” you reach for the child standing at Din’s feet, the little one completely focused on the man who’s cared for and protected him with his own life. Din’s fingers twitch with a longing to comfort the little one, but it’s no use, the remnants of his strength waning by the second. 

Cara hesitates before moving forward, presumably to help lift Din to his feet and drag him to safety within the tunnels beneath them. But Din finds the will to subtly shake his head, signaling her to stop. It’s too late, he thinks to himself. Too much time has passed since Moff Gideon’s last assault and Din knows that it won’t be long before they’re under fire again. 

You look down at Din, your brows knitted together in confusion and anxiety, the child reaching out to him. “Y-you have to...go on without me. P-protect the child,” he croaks out, his breaths shallow and lungs burning with every intake of air. 

“No. I told you, I’m not leav–” you start to protest, hugging the child close to your chest when it makes a loud whimpering sound. Your bottom lip trembles and you pull it between your teeth. 

“The IG unit can stay with him, but we need to get the child out of here now,” Greef places a hand on your shoulder, but his eyes remain on the T of Din’s visor as he seems to say, I’ll make sure they’re safe.

The aforementioned droid comes into view and Din’s vision starts to blur, his ears ringing with a deafening pitch. The following moments of your exchange with Greef and Cara are difficult to comprehend as Din starts to pass out, but then he feels your hand in his again and he forces himself to stay awake. 

You don’t say anything as you lift his gloved hand to your cheek, tears streaming down your face. Oh, how he longs to feel your soft skin against his calloused hands. And though you can’t see his face because of the helmet covering his features, Din still tries to give you a reassuring smile.

“I’ll be r-right...behind you,” he lies through his teeth, a chill wracking his body. It won’t be much longer before he meets his Maker, but he doesn’t want you to have to witness his end.

He regrets a lot of things he’s done in his, what one might consider, wicked life—the lives he’s taken and the people he couldn’t save remaining at the forefront of his mind. But if he can spare you this...this trauma of watching him take his final breath, then he’ll do everything in his power to protect you from it.

You lean forward and press a kiss to the top of his helmet, right where his forehead would be, before resting your own against the cool metal. A Keldabe kiss. His chest aches beyond any physical means and it’s only then that he notices the moisture on his cheeks, spilling from his eyes. 

I’m so sorry, cyar’ika, if only we had more time, he wishes he could say, but he can barely hold his head up, let alone speak. The high pitch of the child’s cry reaches his ears and Din opens his eyes to find the little one touching the side of his helmet. Goodbye, my child, Din thinks as he finds the strength to reach up and lightly stroke behind the child’s ear one last time.

He hears you sniffle before whispering, “I love you,” your voice breaking. He can only just make out the gentle squeeze of your hand around his before you reluctantly let go as Cara ushers you away. 

Everything in existence seems to fade away after that, like you were his life force and now that you’re gone, he can’t hang on any longer. His breaths become uneven as fluid fills his lungs. At his side, IG-11 injects something into Din’s arm, but he doesn’t understand what the droid is saying—something along the lines of help with the pain and deep sleep.   

And as he becomes void of all senses but the memory of your hand in his, he embraces Death like an old friend.

Red Hot Winter- Chapter 14

Trigger warning: death scene, sex scene- minor dni

Chapter 14- "All the monsters got fangs"

Klaus shouted at the top of his lungs, knowing Hayley could hear him. He needed her to shout back, so he could eco locate her, since both of them were werewolves. It didn't take long. She shouted again. His eyes turning yellow, Caroline swearing she saw more of a wolf than a vampire in Klaus right now, he turned to her, and said, his voice deeper:

"Tell Elijah to track my scent. I need to save my daughter. I can't put you in any more danger, love."

Looking a her one last time, he ran to Hayley. Caroline ran back to the compound.

Klaus couldn't care less if people were seeing him running, or if he resembled a lot more his biological father now. The only thing on his mind now was that he needed to save his daughter and her mother. Finding her was easy. Setting her free would be the challenge.

He found her in the church, lying on the altar, trying to fight against the witches that held her back, Genevieve on the end of the table.

"You're all gonna die!" He shouted. But before he could even do anything, Monique just threw his body against the wall, and he couldn't move, though he really wanted to. "Genevieve, I'm gonna kill you, and no one, not even my queen is going to stop me!"

"I'm sorry Klaus." Said Genevieve. "Is the only way the ancestors will let me live."

Hayley's pregnancy had to be interrupted, all the chaos from the last few months, plus all the fighting from the past night had caused their daughter to come into the world faster. Hayley wanted to have her daughter in the bayou, and Klaus in a hospital where she'd be safe, but maybe it was the karma the Mikaelson family had to carry that doomed their heir to be born at the altar of a church after a vampire and werewolf massacre, on the hands of a witch. Klaus had also been born at the hands of a witch, the witch Ayanna, him, and all of his siblings, except the one he had lost before he was even born. Klaus most definitely did not want the same fate to hold his daughter.

"I will bathe in your blood and drink it with my queen!" He said.

"I'd like to see you try." Said Monique.

The more Klaus tried to fight, the stronger the restraints holding him back got. Elijah wasn't showing up. He couldn't have brought Caroline here, she would've died. He was helpless.

He watched in agony as Hayley gave birth, her screams forever engraved in his mind. It wasn't until he heard another cry that his heart for the second time in his eternal life, the first had been when Caroline told him she loved him, seemed to be more alive than ever.

"Can I…Can I hold her?" Asked Hayley weakly. Monique was about to answer when Genevieve gave Hayley her baby.

"So beautiful, my hope…" Hayley said, kissing her forehead. Klaus started to cry. He wanted to kiss his daughter, he wanted to hold her, take care of her, protect her, but he couldn't. Hayley looked at him. "Look what we made." She said.

"My littlest wolf." Said Klaus, as weakly as her.

As quickly as it had begun, Monique ripped the baby from Hayley's arm, who couldn't hold her daughter back, and the witches left. Before closing the door behind her, Genevieve turned to Klaus and said:

"I'm sorry, I truly am"

The restrains were finally out of Klaus. He fell to the ground, breaking some of his bones.

Klaus got up, healing himself, going to Hayley who had passed out. It was only when he came close to her that he realized. She wasn't breathing, and her heart wasn't beating.

Elijah, Elena, and Caroline got to the church, but it was too late. Klaus was sitting with his back leaning against the altar, holding Hayley's body, his mouth stained with blood. He had tried resuscitating her both with blood and massaging her heart, but it didn't work.

"Klaus?" Said Caroline, kneeling in front of him.

"They took my daughter, the witches. They took her from her mother's womb and there's nothing I could do about it. I couldn't protect her, I couldn't protect any of them." Said Klaus, looking at the ground.

"You can still save her." Said Caroline. "We know where they're going, Marcel found out where they're keeping Bonnie and Davina."

"I don't understand why they'd take my daughter if they could've taken me. I'd gladly take her place."

"Niklaus." Said Elijah. "They want to sacrifice her, that has always been their goal. That's how they want to take us, this family, your family down. We need you to get up, brother, because the three of us are ready to follow you to the depths of hell to bring your daughter back."

Klaus looked at the three people standing in front of him.

Elena Gilbert, the doppelganger of the first woman he had ever loved, and the blood his mother had used to create the vampires. He had gone to Mystic Falls in search of her to break his course and her father had given his life so she wouldn't become a vampire. Klaus didn't understand why would John Gilbert make that kind of sacrifice until now. He would've gladly died if it meant that his hope lived.

Elijah, his older brother. Klaus hadn't been born a witch like Elijah was, and his mother's explanation to Mikael was that not every kid of theirs would be a witch and she was confirmed right when Rebekah was born without powers. Klaus wasn't a witch because he had a werewolf gene and his father somehow knew and abused him. Elijah always took care of him, even connecting himself to his little brother so he wouldn't take the burden alone. Klaus was so close to his full humanity now, and Elijah wasn't about to give up.

Caroline Forbes, his sweet Caroline, his queen. He had been fond of her and had fallen hard the first time he had laid eyes on her, even before he had made his presence in Mystic Falls known to everyone.

Mystic Falls, Virginia, 2009

"Klaus was in the Mystic Grill enjoying a glass of bourbon by himself. The spell his witches had cast on him was enough for him to remain unknown for the rest of the night, even from his own brother, the witches, and the vampires of the town. He liked hiding inside someone else's body but he wanted one last night for himself.

He saw the doppelganger have fun with one blonde girl. Not girl, woman. He was captivated by her beauty - the way her hair was styled, her delicate features, and the way her eyes sparkled when she smiled.

He immediately knew that this was the woman he had been looking for in his eternal life and he had found her in the flesh. He wanted to tell her how beautiful she was, but he waited for her, now he was just looking at her in awe.

He admired her poise and confidence as she talked to the doppelganger with a warm smile. Even as he felt his heart racing, Klaus just couldn't take his eyes away from her and he felt a sudden connection as if she was someone he had already known.

From then on, Klaus felt like he was in another world when he saw Caroline. He was mesmerized by every aspect of her - her voice, the way she laughed, the way she looked, and even the scent of her perfume. She had a special kind of beauty that captivated him and Klaus knew that one day he would love this woman forever.

The doppelganger said goodbye and Caroline looked at him. Smiling, she walked towards the bar and took a seat beside the original.

"It's not polite to stare you know?" She said.

"I couldn't help but be captivated by your beauty, love." He said, turning to face her.

"You're not from around here, are you?" She asked her hand on the counter, mere inches away from the one that was holding his cup.

"No, I'm not. What about you, love?"

"Born and raised in Mystic Falls." She said.

"You've never got out of here?"

"No, never"

"It's a shame. A beautiful woman like you deserves to see the world." He said, letting go of his cup, his hand approaching hers.

"There's no one to take me."

"Oh, I know a guy." He said, his hand finally touching hers. It felt like an electric touch went through both of them. Neither one of them had felt that before. Though Caroline was on her off period with Tyler, the werewolf couldn't make her feel like this. She barely knew this strange man, and yet, her body was already burning for him, and the way his eyes looked at her, he felt the same. "He could take you anywhere you'd like love."

"And what do I have to do to get him to take me?" She asked, her face getting closer to his, feeling the heat emanating from his body. Klaus just smiled, grabbed her hand, and guided her to the restroom. If he could, he'd run with her. Locking the door behind her, he gently pushed her against it giving her a chance to back out. She just smiled, putting her hands behind his neck. Klaus smiled.

Klaus had been wanting to kiss Caroline ever since he saw her. He was drawn to her beauty and charm and wanted to show her how much he desired her. As they stood there in the bathroom, the heat between them was palpable. Their lips pressed together as their tongues explored each other, taking in their every taste.

The emotions cascading through them were intense. His leg moved between hers, surprising her by the sudden movement, and she realized what he was doing. Tyler had never let her do this, though she always imagined it. She started to move her hips in circles as she rubbed against his thigh, pleasure coursing through her body and her moans filling up the bathroom. Caroline leaned into his embrace. He kept his leg firmly in place as he kissed her harder, stroking her back as her passionate movements increased.

She felt her orgasm coming and gasped against his mouth, her body shaking with pleasure until her head dropped back against the door. Nothing but the sound of their heavy breathing filled the bathroom afterward as they stood still, their bodies pressed together.

"He can take me anywhere he'd like." She said.

"Oh love, we're not done." He said. Gently carrying her to the sink, he took her underwear off, putting it in his back pocket, opening his pants, and letting them drop, he got closer to her, lifting her skirt.

Caroline felt the cool porcelain against their hot skin as Klaus proceeded to enter her slowly, teasing her along the way with intense sensation. She was so caught up in the feeling that when Klaus started thrusting faster and harder, taking her beyond the brink of orgasm, she let out a squeal of ecstasy like never before.

As they moved in sync, Caroline's body became a living canvas that Klaus explored with his hands and his tongue. His movements were divine, and she felt her body trembling with pleasure. His steady thrusts and skillful touches made her feel each sensation magnified. Caroline clawed at his back, her groans urging him on.

With each thrust, he seemed to go deeper and deeper inside her. At the peak of her pleasure, Caroline released the most passionate essence onto him before succumbing to her euphoric pleasure, Klaus quickly following. A flood of contentment descended on them both as they lay in each other's embrace.

"Who are you?" She asked him, holding his face.

"I can't tell you yet love. Nobody knows I'm here. And I'm so terribly sorry for doing this." He looked her deep in her eyes, compelling her. "You had fun with your friend tonight and just made out with someone from out of town on the grill."

"I had fun with my friend tonight and made out with someone from out of town on the grill." She repeated.

Kissing her one last time, he let her go."

Of course, he had made her remember that and explained why he made her forget and she understood. He knew there and then she was his queen and he'd move worlds for her.

Kissing Hayley's forehead, he said:

"Little wolf, I promise you I will bring our daughter back home and I will kill whoever stands in my way." Putting her lifeless body on the altar again he stood up. Holding Caroline's hand, he walked out of the church, being followed by Elena and Elijah.

After 20 minutes, they arrived at the cemetery. Klaus stops dead in his tracks, focusing his hearing on his daughter's heartbeat. He hears it, all the way down in the cemetery.

"I know where she is." He says. The three vampires follow the hybrid's lead, and they find the youngest Mikaelson lying on another altar. Monique and the other witch from the harvest are chanting an incantation while Genevieve holds a knife up in the air.

"No!" Screams Elijah and Klaus at the same time. Monique and the other witch divert their efforts to the originals and their partners, making the sunlight burn them. Elena screams in pain and Elijah covers her with his suit jacket, growling at the witches. Klaus doesn't mind that he's burning. The witches try to force him to turn into a wolf, but he doesn't budge. Klaus had one purpose: to save his hope, his daughter.

He feels his bones breaking, one by one, but there's nothing like the rage of a Mikaelson when they protect their own. Breathing deeply, Caroline grabs Elena from Elijah.

"Help him!" She says. Elijah gives Elena to Caroline and they go hide in the shadows. Elijah takes the pain of being burned and holds his brother's hands. They look at each other, both smiling wickedly.

They run to the witches of the harvest, breaking each of their necks.

"No!" Said Genevieve desperately.

"You should've stayed away." Said Hayley, showing up behind her breaking the hand that was holding the knife, hearing the ginger witch scream. Hayley grabbed her daughter from the altar, cradling her in her chest.

"Niklaus, I believe you said the only reason you wouldn't kill Genevieve was because your queen did not deserve to walk over her corpse," Elijah said, as both brothers corned Genevieve.

"I believe so brother," Klaus said.

"Well, your queen is not here." Said Elijah. "And if there's one thing I know our family keeps, brother, is our word."

"It is indeed." Said Klaus. "I told you I wouldn't hesitate on a third-time witch." And with that, Klaus proceeds to keep his promise. Putting his hand inside her chest, he said, echoing what his brother said many moons ago "No one messes with the Mikaelsons and lives, no one" By the time his hand was out of her body, he was carrying her heart.

Cleaning the blood away on his shirt, he turned to Hayley.

"Can I…Can I…?" He asked. Hayley smiled and nodded. When Hayley died, she died with her daughter's blood in her system and it turned her into a hybrid, just like Klaus. But the difference is, that she needed to drink her daughter's blood to finish her transition.

Hayley gave him his daughter. Klaus held her, so gently and tenderly, as if she'd break at any moment.

"My daughter…" He said, smiling. "My littlest wolf" Tears fell from his eyes. Holding his daughter now, he was sure he would be better than Mikael, he'd protect her, save her, and never let any harm ever come to her. She was the most beautiful creature he'd ever seen, and he loved her more than anything in the world. Leaning his head down, he kissed her forehead, making a silent promise to himself and her that he'd always be there for her and nothing and no one would keep them apart.

Later at the compound after setting Davina and Bonnie free, Hayley drank a drop of her daughter's blood, but they couldn't keep her. She wasn't safe in New Orleans, not with all the enemies she had automatically inherited by being a Mikaelson.

So Klaus made the hardest decision he ever had to.

The town was led to believe that the wolves that died, along with the vampires, had died as a result of a gas leak and were holding a vigil for the victims. Compelling Marcel to find them a stillborn baby so they could have a symbolic burial, Elijah, Elena, and Hayley went to the vigil with a plaque that read "Baby Mikaelson". Leaving the plaque, Hayley came back to the arms of Elena and Elijah who hugged her as she cried her soul out.

On the edge of the town, Klaus was outside of his car, holding his daughter. Caroline was waiting by it.

A red bright car stopped a few miles away and Rebekah got out of the it.

"It was about time you picked my brother over the Lockwood boy, Caroline." She said. Caroline just smiled.

Klaus looked at his sister, who was in awe of her niece.

"She's so beautiful Nik, just like her mother. Perhaps there is a god after all."

"Oh but she's got a hint of the devil in her eyes, that's all me." He said. "Rebekah, despite our differences, there is no one else in this world that I would trust my daughter with."

"I'll protect her with my life Nick."

"Tell her stories about us, about our human life."

"I will brother."

"I love you my daughter, Hope Mikaelson."

"That's a beautiful name, Nik," Rebekah said, kissing her brother on the face, before reaching out for Hope. Klaus gave her his daughter, feeling as though a part of him was being taken with her.

Before Rebekah got into her car, she turned to Caroline and said:

"You take care of my brother, please?"

"With my life."

Turning her back, Rebekah got into her car and left. Klaus turned back and hugged Caroline, immediately crying. She hugged him back. She knew it wasn't easy for him to be this vulnerable but he was always like this with her, even before they got together. She wouldn't let him fall, not right now, not ever.

Back at the compound, after giving Hayley blood and putting her to sleep, Elijah went to the balcony where Elena was. Seeing his brother with a daughter of his own reminded him just how lonely eternal life could be.

"There you are." He said. She was still wearing his suit jacket. She turned to him, bringing him close to her by his waist.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"Seeing Niklaus with Hope reminded me just how I'll never be able to fulfill one of my human dreams."

"You wanted to be a father."

"Even before I'd even met Tatia. But everything changed when I turned into a vampire."

"Did you know I didn't want to become a vampire? My change was something I couldn't control either."

"But you came to terms with it."

"Yes, but it took me a long time." She kissed his face, right next to his mouth. "And now I'll get to spend the rest of my eternal life with you." Elijah smiled and kissed her.

The Mikaelson had won the French Quarter war. Klaus was King and Caroline was Queen. But nothing is as it seems.

In the woods, near the cemetery, the fourth girl from the harvest ceremony was looking at the Originals witch memorial plaque. Another warlock showed up beside her.

"Come on my son, we have much to do." She said, walking away, the warlock following her.

elijah's connection to other characters // canon divergencies ▬ siblings edition ▬

i'll probably give this sheet more details the more time passes but right now it should work for a quick overview of my elijah's relationship to the following characters (siblings edition):

klaus: tvd s2: elijah loathes him and wants to use the sacrifice to kill klaus because klaus let him believe for decades that klaus had thrown their siblings into the ocean, therefore sealing their fate forever. after klaus confessed in the last moment that this had been a lie, elijah helps him through his first days of being a hybrid but ultimately was tricked by him and daggered. tvd s3: in the beginning majorly pissed at klaus for being daggered and undaggered the rest of their siblings behind klaus' back by making a deal with damon. klaus and elijah shortly work together to defeat esther and finn before elijah left town. he quickly returns to collect klaus's body, stating that he's still his brother and that they remain together. for a short moment, elijah believed klaus has died as he had been staked white an oak stake by alaric before he realizes that his bloodline is still alive, meaning klaus is not truly dead. tvd s4: elijah intends on achieving a deal with klaus: the cure for katherine pierce's freedom. but when he's finally in the possession of the cure, elijah is torn between handing it to klaus or rebekah who desires to be human. elijah wants to make the right choice and decided to give it to rebekah and instead handed over the last remaining white oak stake, hoping it would be enough for pardoning katherine and grant him the chance of happiness and love. however, klaus declined and promised to not only catch katherine but also make it his cause that elijah never know a moment of happiness. when elijah hears the news of witches in new orleans that conspire against klaus, he goes to new orleans to find out what they want, leaving it open if he helps or stops them. to s1: despite klaus's countless betrayals, elijah still believes it's possible to redeem klaus especially after he learnt that klaus is going to be a father. it took quite some time to convince klaus about the fact that this is a gift and that it was their chance to be a family. when he finally succeeded, however, klaus daggered elijah again and gave his body as a deposit to marcel. when elijah awoke, he was beyond mad at klaus and the tension only grew when klaus accused him of trying to steal his child just because he got along with hayley causing elijah to leave town. to s4/5: elijah hasn't been in contact with klaus for the past few years and instead led his own life somewhere else. he only returns to take over a piece of the hollow to save his niece's life. he only realizes the consequences of that much later and when he becomes aware of the fact that he won't see his siblings ever again, he regrets having cut contact with klaus

rebekah: short and sweet: he loves her although he often questions her choice of men and tries to tether her to reality, knowing that rebekah tends to get lost in wishful thinking just as she did when she was hellbent on taking the cure.

kol: elijah doesn't really share a connection with kol. in fact, he wasn't even aware that he had been killed in tvd s4 as he wasn't there and no one bothered to tell him. if he had known, he would have avenged his death. elijah also only realizes much later that he has 'neglected' kol for the sake of klaus and kinda excluded him from their family. elijah finds kol’s sometimes childish and oven reckless behavior tiring.

freya: elijah didn't know much about his only older sister as she was a topic that's usually been avoided and eventually, elijah stopped bothering to ask. after freya's return, elijah initially was pretty suspicious and wary of her. now, elijah loves her and would do anything to protect her. he often has issues of accepting he's not the 'older and therefore -in his opinion- responsible sibling' anymore.

finn: initially, elijah looked up to finn when they were children but quickly directed his attention to klaus once he was born as finn didn't seem to be too keen on having elijah around. as they grew older and especially after they turned into vampires, elijah doesn't have a good relationship with finn at all. they don't talk to each other unless necessary. elijah sees him as a traitor after he tried to get them killed.

alright, it’s been a while, so my whole episode... recap? analysis? commentary? thing is rusty, but 8x16 got me excited for a few reasons.

i’m focusing on prometheus’ very familiar story and character parallels. despite what dean says about sam dying like prometheus, within the context of this episode, he’s not prometheus. i think he’s actually oliver, prometheus’ son.

the real promethus is (not a shocker) dean. what first tipped me off is this moment—

—of dean staring at the family. dean has had a history of yearning for one, image similar to ben and lisa, which is important but not anything new, so i dismissed it. then sam explained—

dean: didn’t [prometheus] steal fire or somethin’?

sam: yep. he stole the flames of olympia for us. zeus decided to revoke humanity’s ability to make fire, and in return [for prometheus’ actions], zeus decided to strap him to that mountain and make him relive death every day.

dean: damn, every day for how long? no wonder the guy’s hard drive is fried.

—which, again, is important, but defying gods and protecting humanity are already obvious elements of the show. however, what really struck me was how dean and prometheus both suffer from immortality by a higher power. one as a consequence of his actions, the other to play a pawn in god’s game. both men die over and over at the hands of a god binding them by fate, enough that it grows tiresome. like what dean says too often, at the start of the episode even prometheus says—

prometheus: all i know is all i do is die, so if you want to shoot me, shoot me. just promise me you finish the job ‘cause i can’t take this anymore.

—wishing to stay dead. and, though an eagle eating prometheus’ guts is easy to dismiss, it’s interesting when you learn what intestines symbolize (limbo or the halfway point between a beginning and an end) and what eagles symbolize (strength, courage, and immortality).

dean and prometheus are either always killed or on the brink of death, finally passing a halfway point to reach the end, until they’re revived — forced to fulfill a duty or endure a punishment. survival / protecting people via strength and courage (eagle), which once was the goal, now eats away at them, leaving them perpetually stuck in limbo (intestines) and growing tired.

but, even if they don’t want to continue, the will they have left to try is drawn from their children — oliver and sam (who i’m counting as dean’s child). sam and oliver have their commonalities, and as i’ve said before, i think dean would have stopped trying if it wasn’t for sam. similar to prometheus’ feelings about oliver—

sam: you pretty much saved the whole world.

prometheus: yeah, i guess, but none of that means anything unless i can save my son.

—protecting sam is dean’s priority. prometheus struggles with immortality and is willing to die, but knowing his son has taken on that burden means he needs to rid oliver of the curse first. likewise, though the trials were intended for dean and he made it his mission to be chosen, sam beat him and is now taking on the mantle, but dean still won’t let him die because of it.

so much so that dean is desperate enough to pray to (really, beg) cas to watch over sam—

dean: listen, you know i am not one for praying. in my book, it’s the same as begging... but this is about sam, so i need you to hear me. we are goin’ into this deal blind. i don’t know what’s ahead, or what it’s gonna bring for sam. he’s covering pretty good, but i know he is hurtin’, and this one was supposed to be on me. so, for all that we’ve been through, i’m asking you... you keep a lookout for my little brother, okay?

dean: where the hell are you, man?

—and protect him. like how oliver rejects sam’s offer for ice cream to stay at his father’s funeral, sam is holding himself up and being braver than he is about the trials. even dean being the one to light prometheus’ funeral pyre and comfort hayley (reminding me of dean before, watching them be a family) touches on some symbolism.

however, dean’s prayer actually holds another parallel — one similar to asking cas to protect sam, except of sam convincing artemis to stop her father and protect oliver. this is where it all takes a turn. right before sam wins artemis over, he exposes her feelings for prometheus—

sam: [prometheus] was in love with you, you know. he told us.

artemis: what did he say to you?

sam: this wasn’t the first time he escaped that mountain, and that you let him go free, as long as you could hide your little tryst from [zeus]. you were afraid [to tell anyone or else your father] would find out that you fell for the person he hates the most in this world.

—claiming she is not only in love with him, but also helped him escape his banishment, where he endured never-ending punishment. at the end of the episode, she even kills her father to save prometheus and the people he loves — caring about them because of prometheus — and helps them regain their free will. 

not to state the obvious, but... unless we know of someone else who symbolizes free will and rebelled against their father-god and freed a prometheus-paralleling character from a fate-bound narrative of endless torture (or, hell), all while vowing to protect his family... i can only think of cas here. (i also obviously associate cas with prometheus — his protection of humanity, his immortality, and the emmanuel vibes — but for consistency’s sake, i’ll keep from rambling.)

however, prometheus gets caught in artemis’ crossfire and dies with zeus. she doesn’t take his body, leaving it for oliver and hayley (again, ben and lisa vibes) to keep because she’s willing to let go even if she loves him. but... i think both artemis and hayley count as his love interests. like the immortal / monstrous beings and their mortal / human partners we met this season, one half of the pair meets a tragic end, usually because the other is at fault for the death. never out of malice, always grief, because either their lives or their love couldn’t outlast their reality. and, though artemis killed prometheus, hayley freed zeus, which put him in danger. for which she apologized for and grieved over with dean.

we already know dean and cas’ end was tragic, but what’s interesting — what i’ve mentioned before — is that it wasn’t his grief that took cas. it was his happiness. it was loving dean that much. out of all of these relationships’ ends, that was the difference.

and all of this might be me talking nonsense and seeing parallels that aren’t there, that’s fair lol, but it’s hard to ignore the overlaps that exist between these characters and their mirrors.

A bold new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe began in 2021 on Disney+ with the wildly successful WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but Marvel Studios certainly hasn’t been resting on its laurels in terms of upcoming cinematic blockbusters. Not only does it have Black Widow (finally) ready for theatrical release, but we’ve also got Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness all in various stages of production, there are also TV series on the way for the likes of Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and more!

Well, if you’ve been a little confused by Marvel’s shifting dates and streaming priorities, never fear! We’ve got a comprehensive release calendar for you here detailing all the forthcoming MCU projects, so you’ll always be able to find the latest updates when you need them.

Loki

Release Date: June 9, 2021

Tom Hiddleston will reprise his most famous role, as Loki finds himself on a heist through time and space “as he steps out of his brother’s shadow” after the events of Avengers: Endgame! Oh, and based on this trailer, there’s all kinds of time-travelling weirdness awaiting, including the return of Heimdall, some other Asgardian hijinks, DB Cooper (yes!), Owen Wilson playing an obscure character based on a beloved Marvel Comics writer, and…Loki possibly running for President!

Tom Hiddleston stars, of course, and the cast also includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant. Michael Waldron is head writer and Kate Herron is directing.

Black Widow 

Release Date: In theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access Friday, July 9, 2021

The Black Widow movie was heading for a May 1, 2020 release before the pandemic, but Disney and Marvel decided to delay it until the industry’s infrastructure was back to some semblance of normal. They seemed absolutely committed to keeping Natasha on a theatrical release rather than sending her to Disney+, but eventually semi-caved in March as it was confirmed that Black Widow would hit both streaming and theaters simultaneously in July.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.”

Cate Shortland directed the film, and Scarlett Johansson stars, with Florence Pugh and David Harbour alongside her. One of the movie’s villains is Taskmaster, and we wrote a little bit more about him right here.

Natasha Romanoff will get a prequel movie of sorts here, as we catch up with Widow right around the events of Captain America: Civil War. Will the plot affect her character’s ultimate fate in Endgame? Do not count on it.

What If…?

Release Date: Summer 2021

The beloved comic book series that tells tales of how things might have turned out differently in the Marvel Universe is becoming an animated series on Disney+!

Here’s the official synopsis:

“What If…? flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways…Marvel Studios’ first animated series focuses on different heroes from the MCU, featuring a voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their roles.”

We know that at least a couple of these roles include Chadwick Boseman’s final performance as T’Challa as well as the return of Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter!

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Release Date: September 3, 2021

Simu Liu has been cast as the titular Shang-Chi and Tony Leung as The Mandarin (hey, that name sounds familiar! But this time, we’re getting the real Mandarin on screen). Destin Daniel Cretton is directing from a script by Dave Callaham. Given its “Ten Rings” title, Shang-Chi should be steeped in Marvel lore, going all the way back to the first Iron Man film!

Hopefully this will be Marvel’s most action-packed movie yet. The trailer sure makes us think so.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Release Date: September 17, 2021

Andy Serkis (Mowgli) steps behind the camera for Venom 2, which now boasts the catchy title of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The first film, buoyed by a terrific showing at the Chinese box office, made an absolute ton of money, despite being released to mostly scathing reviews.

Venom: Let There be Carnage will follow up Sony’s 2018 Spider-Man-less spinoff film, but will likely be more connected to the MCU this time around, thanks to a renewed deal between the company and its Marvel Studios partners. Tom Hardy will return as Eddie Brock, of course, and as you can probably guess from that title, he’ll be facing off against Woody Harrelson’s villain, Cletus Kasady aka Carnage!

The Eternals 

Release Date: Nov. 5, 2021

Acclaimed Nomadland helmer (and Oscar winner!) Chloe Zhao is directing Marvel’s Eternals from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. Marvel described the film as an “epic story, spanning thousands of years” that features “a group of immortal heroes forced out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s oldest enemy, The Deviants.”

The cast features Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Gemma Chan as Sersi, and Kit Harrington as Dane Whitman, the Black Knight. We meet all these characters in the trailer, which we wrote more about here.

This one was another victim of the release date shuffle, but we’ll finally get to see Jack Kirby‘s wildest creations soon enough!

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Release Date: Dec. 17, 2021

The next Spider-Man movie looks like a big one! Spider-Man: No Way Home will once again take place in the MCU since Marvel and Sony solved their differences, good sense prevailed, and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will remain a vital part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This one, well…this might be a live action Spider-Verse movie from the sound of it. Jamie Foxx will reprise his role as Electro from the maligned Amazing Spider-Man films and Alfred Molina will return from the Raimi era as Doctor Octopus.

Wait. Are they trying to make this a multiversal Sinister Six movie? Because…we could be down for that.

Hawkeye

Release Date: Late 2021

Jeremy Renner returns as Clint Barton to train his replacement as Hawkeye, Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop! Apparently based on the brilliant run of comics by Matt Fraction and David Aja, Hawkeye will also prominently feature Lucky the Pizza Dog, one of the great canines in Marvel Comics history.

The cast also includes Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Fra Fee as Kazimerz Kazimierczak, Tony Dalton as Jack “Swordsman” Duquesne, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Alaqua Cox as Maya “Echo” Lopez, and Zahn McClarnon as Willie Lincoln. We wrote more about all these new characters here.

Ms. Marvel

Release Date: Late 2021

Ms. Marvel is finally coming to live action! Here’s the official synopsis for the series…

“Ms. Marvel introduces Kamala Khan—a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. “A great student, an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she has a special affinity for superheroes, particularly Captain Marvel. But Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life is easier with super powers, right?”

The cast includes Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. Episodes are directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

This is going to be a big one, folks, because Kamala is going to be a significant player in Captain Marvel 2. How significant? The title of the movie is now The Marvels!

Morbius

Release Date: January 21, 2022

Spider-Man spinoff Morbius is Sony’s next big Marvel wild card, and it’ll officially be the first spinoff to properly connect to the MCU (even if Marvel Studios still isn’t officially acknowledging it in their own promotional materials the way they are with Spider-Man: No Way Home). Here’s the official synopsis for the film…

“Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed and transforms this healer into a hunter.”

Safe House‘s Daniel Espinosa directs from a script by Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway. Jared Leto stars as the vampiric title character, and the cast also includes Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Release Date: March 25, 2022

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness looks like it will open up the storytelling possibilities in the MCU like never before. And that’s just based on the name alone. Scott Derrickson was scheduled to direct, but bowed out because of “creative differences” with Marvel. But the good news is that Marvel found a suitable replacement in none other than Sam Raimi, who of course has plenty of superhero experience thanks to his Spider-Man trilogy in the early 2000s!

This one has loads of connections to the wider MCU. Elizabeth Olsen will be here as Wanda Maximoff post-WandaVision, and the film will also connect to Spider-Man: No Way Home and its own multiversal ambitions. There are also a few rumors doing the rounds that Jericho Drumm aka Brother Voodoo could be introduced in this sequel. We’ll keep an eye on that and update this if there’s any substance to them.

Thor: Love and Thunder

Release Date: May 6, 2022

Taika Waititi, who gave us the delightful Thor: Ragnarok, will return to write and direct. Chris Hemsworth will be back. Natalie Portman is your new Thor (yes, you read that right, Jane Foster will wield the hammer…just as she did in the comics!). Christian Bale has also joined the cast as the terrifying Gorr the God Butcher. Not only that, this movie will finally put Olympians in the MCU with Russell Crowe as Zeus. Can Hercules be far behind?

Oh, and did we mention that the Guardians of the Galaxy will be along for the ride, too?

Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever 

Release Date: July 8, 2022

Black Panther 2 is now called Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Marvel has made it official that after the tragic, untimely death of Chadwick Boseman they have no intention of recasting the role of T’Challa, which is absolutely the right move.

Ryan Coogler will return as director, but there are no other details currently available. Interestingly, Coogler is also bringing a Wakanda TV series to Disney+ at some point in the future, too, and something tells us this Wakanda-centric title for the sequel is a sign of things to come.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Sequel

Release Date: October 7, 2022

Is it technically an MCU movie? Nope. But with all the legal weirdness going on between Marvel and Sony, and this franchise’s very multiversal concept, who’s really to say that it ISN’T an MCU movie either, right? In any case, the sequel to the best Spider-Man movie of all time is coming in 2022 with Avatar: The Last Airbender mastermind Joaquim Dos Santos directing and David Callaham writing.

There’s also an “untitled Marvel movie” still technically scheduled for this date but…that is almost certainly not gonna happen now. Expect whatever that project was to move to one of these below dates or to some other currently unspecified date on the calendar.

Captain Marvel 2: The Marvels

Release Date: November 11, 2022

WandaVision writer Megan McDonnell has been tapped to write the screenplay for Captain Marvel 2, which now boasts the title of The Marvels. You know what else is really cool? Candyman‘s Nia DaCosta will direct!

We have no idea where we’ll find Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) in the sequel to her hugely successful first standalone MCU entry. Will she be fighting to loosen her former Kree pals’ iron grip on a pre-Avengers galaxy? Or will the follow up film see her fighting for justice in the present?

In any case, we know that she’ll be facing off with Zawe Ashton as a currently-unnamed antagonist, and WandaVision‘s Monica Lambeau (Teyonah Parris) will also return in her superpowered state after the events of that game-changing show. Considering that Monica was once known as “Captain Marvel” in the comics, that title of The Marvels becomes more appropriate. And even MORE appropriate when you realize that Kamala Khan, Ms. Marvel, will also be making her big screen debut.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Release date: Feb. 17, 2023

Peyton Reed will return to direct the third installment of the Ant-Man saga, making him the first director in MCU history to complete a trilogy…perhaps the most unlikely trilogy in Marvel’s entire arsenal. Paul Rudd will return as Scott Lang, and you can certainly expect Evangeline Lilly to return as The Wasp and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym.

The villain of the film? That will be Kang the Conqueror, who will be played by Lovecraft Country‘s Jonathan Majors. The inclusion of Kang opens up all kinds of interesting possibilities for the MCU, and may even tease the arrival of the Fantastic Four down the line! We wrote more about those possibilities right here.

We’re also going to need fast confirmation on Michael Pena’s return as Luis, though. Luis is key…

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 

Release date: May 5, 2023

After a tumultuous period which saw James Gunn fired and then rehired as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director, he will finally return to complete his spacefaring trilogy for the studio. However, Gunn can’t even begin filming Guardians 3 until he finishes production on The Suicide Squad for DC, as well as an HBO Max Peacemaker prequel. Once those projects are finished, he’s free to return to the MCU.

Avengers: Endgame left the team in an interesting place. We broke down some of the story possibilities right here.

Fantastic Four

The MCU Fantastic Four movie is finally happening! Marvel seems to be hinting that Fantastic Four will be their next priority after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. So is it possible that we’ll see it on July 28, 2023? That sure would be a great piece of summer blockbuster real estate to launch what might be the most important piece of the MCU going forward!

Marvel’s first family will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a film directed by Jon Watts, who did such a wonderful job with the first two MCU Spider-Man movies. That’s all the information that’s out there at the moment, but as soon as we have more, we’ll update this. It also appears that WandaVision started to set up the Fantastic Four, so stay tuned. We have our own theories on why Marvel went with the Fantastic Four before the X-Men, but that’s another story.

Blade

In 2019, Marvel announced that they will be rebooting the Blade franchise with Mahershala Ali playing the titular daywalker. Ali’s True Detective co-star – and former Blade villain – Stephen Dorff is excited to see what he can do with the character, and so are we.

Could Marvel decide to drop this in that Oct. 7, 2023 release date? Considering that’s the Halloween season and Blade is, y’know, a vampire hunter, they’d have to be foolish not to, right?

Captain America 4

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman is co-writing a currently-untitled Captain America 4 with another FWS alum, Dalan Musson. Those are pretty much all the details that are currently available on this one at this time, but at least we know that Anthony Mackie will return as Sam Wilson in that incredibly badass Captain America costume they gave him for that show. We wrote some more about the potential story possibilities for this one right here.

There’s no date or director for this one yet, so even 2023 seems like it might be a longshot.

Deadpool 3

Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin will be the writing team tasked with bringing the Merc with a Mouth to the MCU. What a Deadpool 3 could look like in the interconnected Marvel Cinematic Universe is, of course, anybody’s guess, but if anyone can crack wise about the follies of this kind of corporate synergy, it’s Ryan Reynolds.

And then there’s the lingering TV stuff, at least two of which will arrive in 2022, with the balance likely to arrive in 2023…

She-Hulk

Tatiana Maslany will play Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who ends up with her cousin Bruce’s gamma-irradiated blood. Hilarity certainly ensues. Kevin Feige has promised that since this will be a courtroom show, you never know who else from the MCU could show up.

It’s possible we’ll get She-Hulk on Disney+ in 2022, but nothing is confirmed at this stage.

Moon Knight

Oscar Isaac will play Marc Spector, a disturbed fortune hunter who also happens to be the avenging avatar of an Egyptian moon god. Oscar Isaac is already training hard for the role, and the series is now officially in production, so we wouldn’t be surprised if we see this one on Disney+ in 2022.

Ironheart

The first of two series that will explore the legacy of Iron Man and Tony Stark in the MCU, Ironheart stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a teenager at M.I.T. who creates her own suit of armor to right the wrongs of the world.

Armor Wars

Don Cheadle will reprise his role as Rhodey and will have the solo spotlight in the War Machine armor in a series that deals with a nightmare scenario for the MCU: what if Tony Stark’s Iron Man technology fell into the wrong hands and was getting duplicated by villains? Based on a classic comics run, Armor Wars promises big action and lots of obscure bad guys. We can’t wait.

Secret Invasion

Samuel L. Jackson will return as Nick Fury alongside Ben Mendelsohn as Talos for a series about the shape-shifting Skrull infiltration of Earth. Kingsley Ben-Adir is apparently playing the villain of the series. Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, and Killian Scott also star.

On directing duties are Thomas Bezucha (Let Him Go) and Ali Selim (The Looming Tower) while Mr. Robot vet Kyle Bradstreet is the head writer.

Secret Invasion could be the biggest thing to happen to the MCU since Endgame.

Wakanda

Very few details are available on this one at the moment, but Ryan Coogler will develop at least one Wakanda-set TV series for Disney+. Could this have anything to do with that Wakanda Forever title for Black Panther 2? We wrote more about some of the implications of this here.

I don't really watch Legacies, only the handon scenes. But I watched this week episode when I knew Freya was in it. And holy shit. They really shit on everything the originals stablished for Hope. A proud Mikaelson that only wish was to get her family back. That spelled her own mother and put her in a coffin to get to see Klaus again, just for her to accept Landon dying if she gets to defeat Malivore as a tribrid. And Freya saying Klaus and Hayley will be so proud of her for becoming a tribrid??? Honestly, Klaus would be starting shit to prevent that fate for his daughter. I just can't with this. Bullshit

As you should, the rest of the show really isn’t worth watching imo. But yeah I have a lot of issues with what happened. I think it’s great that Hope can be better, and do better than her family did. I never liked the fact that Hope hid Hayley to get Klaus to come back, so I’m glad she’s at the point where I don’t think she’d ever do something like that again. But I have always loved how hard she’s fought for her family and who she loves, I love that she’s like her family in that way. And I don’t think that’s something that Hope should no longer be allowed to do in order to be better. Obviously hurting other people to save who you love is not right, but Hope has never really done that? There was the one incident with the twins, where Hope wasn’t even aware of the danger, and no one got hurt anyway. Besides that, her fighting for who she loves, Landon, has not been a problem. And I hate that the writers and the other characters have continuously portrayed it in a way to seem like it is, and I think that’s very wrong. Hope should be able to fight for who she loves and Landon deserves to be fought for, and for them to repeatedly act as if that’s a bad thing is something I don’t agree with at all. And the fact that they’ve now suddenly made her accept Landon dying to defeat Malivore is very upsetting to me. It goes against what her family taught her, it goes against what we saw and all she said throughout season 3. I mean, if she absolutely knew that Landon had to die to save everyone else, if she knew she had to make that choice and that there was no other option, it would be different. But she doesn’t know that? She’s not even trying to find another way to save Landon to get Malivore out of him first, no one is. Even though her family used to do all they could to find a way to save each other, even at the last minute, they would find ways. Why can’t they do the same for Landon? It’s lazy writing and they’ve made the characters lazy too. The writers just wanted her to believe that Landon might die simply because they wanted her to let go of Landon because they’ve got this weird obsession with her always having to choose someone or something else over Landon. Hope is never allowed to be with who she loves, they have to keep making her lose him, even when it shouldn’t be necessary. They just wanted it to be part of the sacrifice she was making to defeat Malivore. Which is messed up. And wasn’t becoming the tribrid enough of a sacrifice? And I agree with you about how Hope’s family would feel about her becoming the tribrid. Klaus didn’t even want her to suppress her werewolf side to save Hayley, no way would he let her die to destroy a mud man. Klaus would’ve found another way, or would have at least tried, but no one is even trying to find another way. Because, again, the writers have made a lot of the characters in this show lazy for the sake of whatever they wanna do with the plot. And I get that Hope has to become the tribrid eventually because that’s a big thing for the show. But at least show more of a fight to prevent it first (same with Landon being sacrificed), at least have some more resistance from the characters. They literally only dealt with Malivore possessing Landon for two episodes and they’ve already given in with Hope deciding to become the tribrid and deciding to let Landon die. Without hardly looking for other options since the writers wasted most of season 3 on filler episodes and they didn’t have time to actually explore what they should be right now. So now Hope is dead and her family would be proud? I mean, I’m sure they would be proud of her for being willing to do that to save others. I don’t disagree with what Freya said. And I think what Hope did was so selfless and I think she’s amazing for being able to do something like that, and I’m sure all her family would feel the same and be so proud of her for that. But they would also be heartbroken? Like they would be pissed that Hope is even in the position where she has to decide this. And they would hate that she feels like she has to let go of someone she loves in order to do it too, especially after she’s already lost people she loves and has struggled so much with that? They didn’t want this for her, they wanted her to be happy, not constantly sacrificing herself and who she loves. They would be so upset knowing this is how Hope’s life has been. And that she’s had basically no support throughout all of this. And again, that they didn’t try to find another way before letting her do this. That they let her become the tribrid without exhausting all other possibilities, that there was next to no effort made to prevent this or her having to lose Landon. I just... it’s total crap and they’ve really screwed things up. So I feel you, anon.
