Here’s some fun Christmas-y observations I made—

I wanted to again point out how clever the secret Santa gifts were in the end credits of the 12 days of Christmas episode, because not only did each side give each other a gift that they knew they would really like, the gifts themselves are reflections of the side that gave them…

Logan gives Virgil a gift card to spend in podcasts/music/whatever. So Virgil is happy because he loves music for blocking out his thoughts/calming himself down, a gift card is probably the least creative and most efficient gift someone can give because Logan is efficient and lacks creativity or sentimentality.

Roman gives Logan a novel he wrote. Perfect for Logan because Logan love books, especially mysteries, plus Roman just spoils the ending for him and it’s fine because Logan would think that’s just a fact worth knowing. But it’s also perfect from Roman because he gets to express his creativity and write a long book that he knows Logan will enjoy.

Patton gives Roman pasta. So not only did Patton give Roman his favourite food, but it was a way for Pat to cook, since he loves food too, and to make Roman something that he can truly express his affection for him with.

And finally Virgil gives Patton a card of original art. So Patton can feel the love that went into making this card, but it’s also a great gift from Virgil because he gets to show that he also draws to help ease his anxiety AND a drawing is something a child would make for their parent—

I’d also like to point out all the gifts except Logan’s were homemade with that side in mind. These gifts had emotion and creativity attached to them. Logan’s was bought with good intentions but no emotional attachment. Therefore if Virgil hated the gift, Logan wouldn’t be disappointed.

we need more dials and knobs and levers again. this world is lacking in dials and knobs and levers. it's one of our biggest issues.

my top bit of advice going into the new year: compliment people. especially strangers. literally everyone you interact with if you can. when you buy coffee in the morning compliment the barista's tattoos. when you're chatting with a coworker tell them that by the way you like their outfit. always find something they've chosen to do on purpose. nail polish, jewellery, tattoos, hair colour/style, statement accessory, outfit, etc are all good bets. things people hope will be noticed. things that aren't too personal so it doesn't make them uncomfortable (eg probably not their physical features). i've gotten into the habit of scanning everyone i talk to for something about them that i think is cool so i can tell them. it's a great habit because it makes me notice people and realise just how many neat little details there are in people's presentation of themselves that might pass me by if i wasn't paying attention. and it brings out so much joy. you'd be surprised how much it disarms people to receive an unexpected compliment from someone they don't know. it is the most sincere smile you will see all day long. it feels nice to make people happy but it also means you win the social interaction. establish dominance by complimenting a stranger's earrings and disappearing into the fog

If it’s not too much of a hassle, I had thought of an idea of Mystic Flour wanting to be approachable to the Reader by smiling, but she ends up unnerving them when she instead gives that creepy smile she makes in one of her sprites.

Dazai canonically rambling about his loved ones at every possible opportunity is so dear to me.

Mori knew a lot of the things he did about Oda because Dazai told him. Akutagawa also knew about Oda and how important he is to Dazai because of Dazai's ramblings. Random, unnamed PM members know about Oda being very dear to Dazai, because Dazai praises him and talks about how great he is.

Chuuya knew straight away that Dazai had been speaking about him to the ADA. It wasn't something he expressed feeling betrayed or suprised about. It was just an immediate understanding that of all the ways they could probably have known about him and his ability despite it being confidential information in the PM, Dazai's ramblings were most likely the reason.

The way that Dazai speaks about Ranpo to quite literally anyone who will listen. To Fydor, to random cops, to Atsushi.

Dazai canonically brags about the people he cares about in an 'omg omg omg my person my people I love them look how amazing they are' way.

when obi-wan said 'I won't kill anakin' and then spent the entire rest of his life following through on that. fuck everyone else obi-wan I respect you yoda should've taken you at your fucking word

'boohoo why did he walk away and not kill anakin this time either even with all the suffering he'll go on to cause if he lets him go' he's told you why very clearly you just didn't believe him I guess!! desperately not killing anakin is obi-wan's main export. it's his universal constant, his life's work, his magnum opus. he gets creative about not killing that guy. he tries to send anakin's teenage twink son to do the job for him because he simply can't. he fucking... peaces out and dies to avoid killing anakin. that's like his whole deal. whether he's right to be like this is another entirely separate conversation but it is what he is

Eggs for Killie is over!

I award myself the 150th egg for all of the little bits of art. Thank you so much for inspiring me to make them! It’s been really amazing to see all the hard work and to truly appreciate the wide range of crafts and activities everyone can do. Bobbin lace? Shoemaking? Knife forging? Translating Irish? It’s genuinely incredible.

I also really appreciated the people who were taking a rest, too. Thank you for that as well.

And I SUPER, SUPER appreciate everyone who was going through saying encouraging words, leaving replies/reblogging with comments, or liking all these posts. That was also a huge outpouring of kindness and time. I saw you doing it (and tried to make sure OPs did too) and any credit for people feeling empowered? That’s for YOU.

I know for a fact that people were following each other simply because they spotted one of their people through doing this. Thank you for being here - and being brave enough to find each other!
