Bisan is calling for another global strike!
I saw some posts just outlining Jan 21st, and wanted to clarify that Bisan has called for a full seven days of action.
What a global strike would look like is:
calling in sick to work
purchasing bare essentials ahead of the week so you can observe the general boycott of goods / buying as little as you genuinely can
putting in a concerted effort to elevate Palestinian voices and make it clear that this strike is in support of a permanent ceasefire!
For those who will have to purchase necessary goods during this time, please observe the brands that the BDS movement is asking us to boycott!
♢♢♢
Right now is also a good time to mention some better uses for your money during this week.
Available e-sims in Gaza are running low!!
Mirna El Helbawi and her team are working round the clock to continue to connect Palestinians as Israel does its best to cut them off from the rest of the world.
You can learn how to purchase and send e-sims here, and below you’ll find a list of what is currently needed (the areas in brackets indicate what region you should select to buy e-sims in).
--
CareforGaza is an organisation that does verifiably good work, distributing supplies directly to Palestinian families.
They have a Gofundme set up at the moment, but because of Gofundme’s poor track record regarding refusing to transfer funds to Palestinians, I’d recommend continuing to donate directly to their PayPal here.
Good luck to all of you. Don't turn away from Palestine!
#i know that for some people their first instinct will be to scoff. how can anyone just not buy things for a full week?#what about groceries? rent?#and personally. i wanna say yes. there are some things that we have to spend money on to survive.#but it is possible still to make a concerted effort in your life#to carve out seven days where you can minimise that amount of money#i know its a lot.#for some people who are living on a tight budget. i know its not possible and i dont fault you for that#but i know for a fact that so many of us would be able to take out a few daily purchases in observance of this strike#do your best#dont turn away from palestine#free palestine#palestine#from the river to the sea#call to action

I love the pale garden and how it's like a parallel to dark forests. I love how the two divert expectations.
Dark forests, despite their name, are saturated and full of life. Even compared to regular forests, there's a lot more biodiversity than many of the "basic" biomes. There's three whole different trees found there, giant mushrooms, and plenty of flowers. They're one of the biomes capable of spawning a lush cave underneath it. It has its dangers just like any other overworld biome, obviously, but it's nothing overly more than anywhere else. Traversing it can be tricky sometimes and illagers may take residence in the biome's woodland mansions, but it's ultimately a very colorful and lively environment.
Opposing it is the new pale garden. Usually white and light colors are seen as pristine and good, but the pale garden takes it the opposite direction and goes right into uncanny valley territory. It has none of the color of dark forests, none of the biodiversity, none of the liveliness. It has trees and moss that look familiar, but something is off. It has a signature mob, but even the creaking is just a puppet of the trees, not really sentient, not really even plotting against anything. There's "life", but, once again, it's wrong.
I think the pale garden is a wonderful addition to Minecraft's world building as it is, but the deliberate parallel to dark forests? Delicious.
#minecraft#mineblr#minecraft live#minecraft live spoilers#<<(just in case!)#I've seen some people saying the pale garden is lazy or too modded looking but there honestly looks like so much thought went into it#Reblogged a post before this where the person mentioned how it almost feels like a callback to the emptiness of early versions of the game#Which I think is a wonderful observation because it does encapsulate that stillness that's not quite foreboding but still very noticeable#Another parallel to be found could be between the pale garden and the deep dark#Which could be a whole post on its own lmao#But there's so much depth and parallels in this drop that are relatively easy to overlook at first but once noticed are so intriguing imo#Lore enthusiasts are eating GOOD

Justice League & The Observants
The first time The Observants appeared before the Justice League, they were met with resistance. The JL was more than apprehensive when it came to working with the beings.
A new side of their world was exposed to them. Since the day those things showed up at the watchtower, everywhere the JL turned, there was a new spooky thing to learn about.
The strange beings didn't say much. Appearing in the room through a swirling portal, took a look at the heroes and gave them a mission.
A mission. Like suddenly the Justice League works for them. Something that rubbed all the heroes the wrong way.
Yet, they had to take it. They couldn't let a town get absolutely destroyed and leveled just because they disliked the creatures that told them about it.
It kept happening.
Batman pulls out all the stops to learn more about these so called "Observants". Everything he could find.
It takes him down a rabbit hole. Finding out more and more about the world those beings came from. The Zone.
No one could really complain. The visits from the Observants were always short and to the point. A new problem has arise in the time line and they needed to fix it.
That was until the first time it wasn't one of those things stepping out of the portal.
This time it was a kid. Or something that looked like a kid, and this kid looked pissed.
He demands to know everything that the Observants had asked the league to do. Demands to be filled in.
The anger isn't directed at the JL. No, no. It's directed at the Observants. It seems the league aren't the only ones that despise those all-seeing beings.
He's a king. The kid is a King.
Not what anyone had expected, and it seemed the complication only grew more. The king, Phantom, informs them not to trust the Observants.
The Justice League takes it all in surprising strides. Confirms that they have done nothing wrong, and they haven't. It was simply that the Observants cared more of their own opinions than the betterment of the world.
However, it gets a little harder to keep a straight face when they are introduced to the God of Time.
Made even worse when the God, Clockwork, is a child. If they thought Phantom was a kid, this was a baby.
Except in almost a blink of an eye, Clockwork was an old man.
Things just kept getting more complicating and intriguing.
Before the Justice League knows it. They are essentially thrusted into the Zone's own problems. An inner war was brewing, and Phantom wanted to do everything he could to stop it.

I think lots of people who consume media need to (re)learn how to engage with a story as an audience member.
A story is a carnival ride: you get on it and you enjoy the ride (or you don't, passionately even).
I feel like this emphasis on making stories and/or characters relatable pushes people to consume a media as an escape; as "you are the main character of this story". But if you use that approach on some stories — especially ones dealing with morally grey, raw, unsanitized, and maybe deplorable shit — it falls flat. That's why we have those needless callout posts about how problematic a story is.
Most stories I'd say work immensely well of the audience takes the role as — well — an audience; an observer; an unrelated party peering into the tale.

Prompt 136
There is a small child floating in the Watchtower.
They’re visibly not human, a too-big cloak of purple (what shade no one knows, all they can describe about the cloak is purple, nothing else) hanging from them as big Lazarus-green eyes glare down in something of a pout. The child huffs, blowing white hair out of their face despite it shimmering and shifting on its own already.
How the child, inhuman or not, found their way into the Watchtower- without setting off an alarm no less- is a concern. A very large concern, but it can wait because there is a four-year old (if the child is the equivalent of a human child that is) at oldest staring down at them.
“Do you know where the speedsters are?” the child piped up after an awkward stare-down, none of the league members present quite sure what to do in this situation. It was probably around time to call Batman… or they could call Flash instead.
#dcxdp#dpxdc#prompts#Lil Time-Student Danny: The speedsters keep making Pops sick >:/#Danny sneaking out to yell at the speedsters:#The JL who have no idea what’s going on#If Danny starts crying they’re gonna panic#How did Danny become a child?#Well there was an explosion and death and he didn’t want to go with Vlad#But staying in the Clocktower for so long has effects#Plus Clockwork had already claimed him as his ghostling#Some days Danny is younger and sometimes he’s his normal 14 years of age#Bonus on if the time medallion in his chest is now visible similar to Clockwork’s clock#He's just a lil baby ghostling whose parent keeps getting Really sick and he's scared#Gonna yell or punch at the people tearing through time and hurtin his dad#Whos gonna stop him#FK is too busy gathering medicine and tea for CW#The remaining observants are hoping Phantom gets stuck somewhere so they don't have to deal with the baby Ancient

Harry: I don't think about Draco that much. Just because I happen to remember every single thing I saw him look at in Borgin & Burkes four years ago and coincidentally noticed the second he got a new traveling cloak because I have his whole wardrobe memorized doesn't mean I'm obsessed with him or anything. I'm just generally observant like that. It doesn't mean I care about him.
Ginny: You forgot about the time a piece of Voldemort came out of a diary and possessed me.
Ron: You didn't notice I was eating spiked chocolates right in front of you because you were staring at Draco's dot on the map...AGAIN.
Hermione: Do you even know my parents' names?
Harry: ... Huh. I was right. Draco's skin is definitely a slightly different color than it usually is.
#humor#this post is made in jest. i don't subscribe to the oblivious!harry trope#harry can be super observant about many things when he has a reason to be. im just having some fun here#because while harry is a very clever and observant person he's never quite so hyper observant as when it comes to draco. he literally canno#look away from him.#drarry#Harry Potter#hpdm#my post

I love the idea of teenage Malleus hating his new baby brother Silver but slowly falling for him
words cannot express how much I adore that Mal's reaction to seeing a human baby for the first time was "the fuck is this. why does it look like that. gross." (then he immediately got stuck on babysitting duty and the rest is history)
I am SUCH a sucker for that trope of "non-humans being fascinated by normal human behavior", so between that and all the delicious angst going on I was eating VERY well. >:) Malleus being so impressed that two-year-old Silver can walk, because it took him twenty years to stand on two legs! Lilia barging in on the Zigvolts at 2 AM being like "he won't stop crying what do I do"! Lilia trying to feed Silver rats and Malleus being like "...please just stick with what the books say to feed it"! it is all so. chef's kiss.
#art#twisted wonderland#twisted wonderland spoilers#twisted wonderland episode 7 spoilers#twisted wonderland book 7 spoilers#(this is based on a very dumb in-joke and i apologize)#i promise i will (eventually) stop spamposting i am just still floating in a river of sheer delight from this update#god. the spoon scene is going to live in my brain forever#malleus having to be the one to teach sebek and silver basic magic because lilia was SO bad at explaining it 😭#also like...i had assumed mal didn't know who silver really is so it wasn't a surprise when lilia straight-up lied to his face about it#but now i can just SEE it hovering there on the horizon as a thing they're probably going to have to deal with at some point#like 'malleus doesn't know' is no longer a sort of general observation/theory and is instead now a very relevant Problem#ohohoho. splendid. things are going to get SO bad and i am going to be here clapping my stupid little hands at it all

NEW girlfailure! Girl who has firmly convinced herself that she's been struck with quantum immortality, and lives her life accordingly (reckless and stupid).
Ends up getting involved in a fight between two vampires and almost dies (but doesnt!!! immortality PROVEN!), and is rewarded by the winner with an opportunity to become her kin. However said vampire is kinda stinky and a heavy smoker (ew) so she just runs away instead, with her now questionably human body & cool new scars to chuuni out about
#my art#artists on tumblr#oc#original character#my artwork#drawing#digital art#kind of an overly detailed premise here but bear with me#quantum immortality is like. if infinite parallel universes where everything happens are real then theres one where you just keep surviving#every possible incident life throws at you even if the odds are crazy against you#and she believes she is that version of herself bc she really does have a cockroach like tendency to just keep surviving#basically her story is just her getting into shit bc she believes shes above consequences. and then theres that vampire observing her antic#while smoking 10 cigs at once about it all#bc thats what observing eyepatch girl here does to you#the matter of her body isss she wasnt quite turned but the vampire gave her some of her blood to stop her from immediately dying#and it was enough to have An Effect on her so itd be like ideal for her to stay under her supervision. but eyepatch doesnt want that#shes got lots of crazy scars from the incident and she feels very cool about them. but she also covers them up because thats also a cool th#ng to do#her cool secrets :)))))#oc lore#woah this got long. shouldve just made a post about it.

I think Gwen calling Miles parents by their first names really show the difference between white and black culture.
Gwendy girl I love you but get your shoes off the bed. Have you lost your goddamn mind
Idk if it's just me, but in a lot of wider (white) culture the idea is that a host must cater to the guest, making sure the place is inviting and the guest is taken care of. It's the hosts responsibly look after their guests
However in a lot of POC cultures, it's the inverse. To us, Guests must cater to the host, because we understand it firstly as their space.
In our culture, we as guests are there as visitors. And it is on us to act appropriate towards the host. Rather than the host acting appropriate to us.
When we walk into a house, we talk off our shoes.
When she comes over she sits cross-legged on Miles bed with her shoes on.
When we enter someones house or space as black kids we're told to go to the adult of the house and introduce yourself, shake their hand.
When Gwen comes to the cookout, Miles parents have to approach her first and ask who she is. And then she calls them their first names!!!!!
We're even told that as guests we have to ask to get water or open the fridge - or the host can get it for us for their privacy.
Gwen comes in and rips open one of Miles' collectables and don't even think about it after.
And Miles is SHOCKED because he's probably never had a friend act like that in his house before.
As POC we see ourselves as guests given the privilege of being in the space. Whereas general culture sees guests as someone to invite in, and that the guests experience - not the hosts' space - is the primary focus
Gwen is probably acting that way because in her culture the idea is that "Oh - I'm at a friend's house. Let me get comfortable."
Whereas for a lot of us its "Oh - I'm at a friend's house and I want their parents to like me enough to let me in their house again lol"
Idk I just found that interesting
#it REALLY bugged me she put her shoes on his bed#like I couldn't get over that#started taking off her sweater and putting it some place like ummm#NOT Gwen hate#just an observation#spiderman#atsv#marvel#spider man#across the spiderverse#Gwen Stacy#Miles morales#spider gwen#spidergwen

I think the fandom at large really needs to think about their wording in posts talking about Cole’s relationship with the ninja vs. Cole’s relationship with the finders. Because whether intentionally or not y’all are getting dangerously close to a “Platonic relationships are not as meaningful as romantic or familial ones” mentality in the community discussions about this rn
#Also some of you are showing your whole ass by thinking that Cole would not consider the ninja as close family#even with the time skip#I have a whole analysis post about Cole’s characterization in DR cooking but that’s gonna take awhile#also obligatory not a call out post just something I’ve been observing#ninjago#ninjago dragons rising#ninjago cole#cole brookstone

I love how a well-written romance is so often structured as a mystery. A person starts with a certain idea about another person, and over the course of the story, they uncover more evidence that gives them a fuller picture of who the other person truly is. They learn about layers to the personality and backstory that give the other person more depth. They learn how the other person's personality meshes with theirs. Even the third-act misunderstanding fits the mystery structure--it looks like they've uncovered the final secret to the other person's identity, which is that they're not the worthy person they seemed to be, but then discover that they misinterpreted that evidence, or the other person takes steps to apologize and repair the level of trust. When the mystery is resolved, they've reached a full understanding of each other and know they've found a partner they can trust their whole future to.
#also comedy works along a mystery structure#so a romantic comedy is like a double mystery#two different types of mystery clashing with each other and causing hilarity before the truth is finally revealed#if nothing else this batb diversion will spark some interesting romance thoughts#this came to me because i've been slowly rereading beth brower's 'the q'#and i just hit the scene where quincey gets to observe arch outside of work for the first time#just a lovely moment of revelation#and i think that's the one thing that story does really well#and the author in general is very good at applying this mystery dynamic to all her character dynamics whether romantic or platonic#i rarely find myself able to believe in the strength of her characters' bonds that are supposed to exist before the story started#but the developing relationships are so good because of this endless uncovering of mysteries deepening the bonds in a very compelling way#adventures in writing

It's a Match!
Being the King of the Infinite Realms didn't really give you many dating options. There were no candidates who weren't committed or completely sincere, and Danny was feeling sensitive those days so he was frustrated. The Observants telling him to get a partner to create a "better future" and offering horrible options was especially infuriating those days, he wished they would stop meddling in his life.
Sam and Tucker, seeing the halfa's frustration did what any friend would do in such a situation: They created a profile for him on a dating app. Although they didn't notice that when they connected it to Technus' Internet the app started taking "candidates" from other dimensions that had it.
Despite not trusting it much at first, Danny eventually embraced the idea and very quickly connected with "Jason Todd" who claimed to be a zombie. Danny thought it was funny and told him he was a ghost, which Jay obviously didn't believe. Ironically, they matched because of the "I died" jokes on their profiles.
The only problem was when Jason asked to meet (he was absolutely convinced that Danny was either homeless or living on the streets due to his refusal to send pictures from home and wanted to feed him) and Danny didn't know how to tell him that he didn't know what dimension he was in.

You know what, I've read enough fanfic. I'm confiscating Madame Yu from you guys
Free my girl- she did the things she's being accused of, but not as frequently or severely as the fandom pretends, her actions are being taken out of context, and her depth is being reduced to that of a Colleen Hoover antagonist
#mdzs#madame yu#yu ziyuan#oh to live in a world that showed her the fraction of the empathy this fandom shows jgy or xy#or as the svsss fandom shows Shen Jiu#even though she didnt do anything nearly as bad as any of those guys#like- she was extra harsh and observant towards wwx but she didnt actually do anything other than enforce rules/punishments#which are noted to be significantly lighter than those of the Lan clan#and y'all know the whole whipping thing was an act right? y'all know she was making a gamble to try and get the wens to leave right?#y'all remember that its noted that wwx would recover in like a couple days right?#she's not some vindictive woman who baselessly hates wwx and beats him for no reason#god forbid a woman be mean and unhappy after being more or less forced into giving up her carrier to marry a man who doesnt love her#and then said man adopts his crush's kid and treats said kid with more kindness than any of his own kids#if y'all were just taking a hard line against beating kids I think I could respect that but no-#fics will condemn Madame Yu and then wubify Lan Qiren in the same breath#the tgcf fandom's treatment of Ling Wen gave me hope but y'all let me down
