Though I already knew I'd start with her haha#Have a little preview to start us off - I have Lots of thoughts to each part of development I ended up in but I want to roll them out slowly#Not everything all at once anyway haha - thoughts get all jumbled now that I'm on this side of things pft#I wasn't able to finish A Version I'd be willing to publish in just a month - even then I only worked on Ghostkinz about 3 days a week so#But for the time I spent I'm quite pleased with how its shaped up so far! :D I got to implement a lot!#Actually learning-then-implementing-then-learning-then-implementing - it's a loop I've been out of for such a long time now :0#Really interesting to fall back into after so long away haha#A lot of my other projects have been Pick Up One Thing and then do that forever and I was tired-tired of that!!#So going into this project knowing that I'd only have November to Get Guud at as much of it as possible and then that was it#I think it helped propel me - didn't end with me getting stuck on Perfecting Just This One Thing#I'd read a bit and then go utilize it and then come back and read some more of Zarla's template/walkthrough - compelling system!#I still couldn't manage to actually finish in a month but I got up to Phase 4!! Previous attempts at Ghost-making has gotten stalled at 1!!#Maaaybe 2 but never anything beyond that - and while I didn't actually Finish any Phase apart from 1 I still read through much much more!#On top of the learning aspect being fun ♪ getting to understand some of the more technical side ahh - it was also just fun to read haha#Like a course that can be silly hehe ♫ Enjoyable even outside of getting to make a little guy for my screen haha#But also yes that too!! I'm really glad I finally settled on an idea that I feel confident in seeing through#The best part about reaching for the Webkinz style is that Webkinz uses vectors - I've gone on record multiple times as loving vectors#They're an exceptionally easy medium to manipulate and that was The Thing that had been holding me back from committing to Ghosts prior#Drawing every single thing when I already struggle to plug in my tablet...no...... But Vectors#You can see here that Diamond's expressions are just a matter of tilting her head and moving her tail - so so soooo simple with vectors#Being able to super-quickly put out a lot of different expressions and animations and piecemeal everything together...yes..........#And for what further I have in mind :3c It's really all I could ask for in an art style to seek ah ♪ Just right for my purposes!#I thought it'd be nice to show off Diamond-for-real as her plush next to her digital version as well :D She's still the only OG8 I have#I want more!! I'd love to have a code for her as well haha - secretly just started this so I can have a digital Diamond lol#Plush-Diamond actually wears a necklace these days but I opted to leave it off her for the photoshoot - maybe once I figure out clothes haha

I have been thinking about the show and you guys a lot more, not just because we're approaching the anniversary of the end but because...it seems like LA ties keep popping up everywhere!
I know I haven't been active, but I do like coming back to see you guys on my dash even if I have no idea what you're posting about because I'm not part of those fandoms. I've been debating on coming back more -- or going back to that LOL, Z blog I started just to make sure I keep writing and staying in touch. So, we'll see.
Work has been crazy, and I just took the first actual day(s) off in a good while. I had some rough losses near the end of last year, and then huge project after huge project has meant not just working without days off but also working on my days off. Finally actually took a couple days off and did nothing. And I actually got a good amount of writing done, so now I don't want to go back. (I find I actually do get going a lot quicker if I start by hand, but my joints cramp up soooo quickly. It's always been annoying. ANYWAY.)
What finally prompted this was I was watching last night's SNL, and NCIS:LA got a mention, despite being off the air. (There was a joke about character actors and appearing on arcs on shows with titles that are only letters. There were four spots, and LA was the fourth. IT IS STILL REMEMBERED! But holy crap, how about that Hawai'i turn? Wow. Anyway.)
In the past year, small things have made me think about LA:
-Waking up to an old episode from a syndicated outdoors show (I sleep with the TV on, don't judge me) that featured Gerald McRaney talking about his acting career -- filmed years ago -- and doing outdoors stuff -Spotting Medalion in a small spot on New Girl -Being addicted to Disney Dreamlight Valley when I was redirecting my impulse shopping addiction into cozy gaming (that was basically ADHD-crack because of all the tasks you just have to complete!). How is this relevant? Because the only fish I could seem to catch most of the time? COD! -Todd popping up in new commercials all the time -Getting into Elsbeth and watching CBS shows on Paramount and hearing the little logo music after or before a show and remembering watching LA on the platform a lot towards the end
And I know there are many more, but age + too may back-to-back storms and natural disasters have made my memory even wonkier. (We currently have a joke about our "weekly tornadoes" here. It's funny because it's not completely a joke. Lololol.)
Anyway, I won't lie to say there wasn't some freedom and relief that came with the show's ending. But there are definitely parts of it I miss like you guys.

woke up feeling weirdly grateful to fandom (must be pride month lol) so just wanted to toss out a big thank you to anyone who has ever read my fics. you really make me feel like i matter when i hear that my words make people happy or flaily or screaming or what have you. it honestly means the world to me knowing that people take their own free time and use it to read things i have written; given everything, i can't overstate how much this helps to heal over the big me vs. writing/publishing wounds. 💚💚💚 i had really truly considered leaving fandom the past few weeks, but i don't want to any longer, and a huge part of that is you wonderful folks for being here.
#and a huge thank you to everyone reading the monsters 'verse#because i know a huge sprawling AU is not something this fandom is necessarily excited for#especially not when i've thrown rarepairs in it#and ESPECIALLY not when one is f/f because this fandom does not love femslash often#but i'm using all my saved publishing ideas for that fic#the ideas i kept because i thought they would be good books one day#i know they won't be books now#but they WILL be part of this series#this series is my baby and i honestly love it and it's filling the void in my life now that i'm not writing books#so it's existing in a very strange spot for me at present#but a necessary one for my own healing#i get that now i see why i'm getting so emotional about the fics lol#took me awhile to realize that's what i was doing with it#it's the both the most and least self-indulgent thing i've written#which makes sense in my head just go with it#ANYWAY i know i'll write the fifth one cause it's in my head#and who knows i might need a lot more healing#and might end up writing quite a bit more#but there are certainly worse ways to work through all that publishing stuff left behind

#weird addendum but pls don’t reblog my vent posts??? why would you even want to????#everything has been So Much lately and I wasn’t gonna vent but then I remembered this is my blog and I can do what I want#one of my best friends left the country last week and he’ll be gone for like two years and I’m so sad without him around#I mean he’s been messaging me every day since he left but it’s still hard not having him here yknow?#and I’m moving into his place but it requires a lot of work before I can so I’m always exhausted#and my joints have all but given out on me completely so I’m always covered in KT tape and braces#which doesn’t gel very well with moving furniture and heavy boxes#and I have no money so I need to be job searching but I can’t do that until I move. BUT I NEED MONEY TO MOVE#on top of that my grandpa died and there’s so much family drama involving that it’s unreal#and weirdly the thing I’ve recently felt bad about is I’ve been neglecting my self imposed Fandom Duties#maybe not fandom specifically but like. creative duties#I want to write fic. I want to draw. #☆— yapping#went there bc i was bored#got three volumes of kn8#would've gotten more but they didn't have them unfortunately#and four volumes of smth i've never heard before#called dai dark#only picked it up bc it looks interesting#guess no one else knows it either bc the volumes are so stiff#like library books are usually kinda beat up and the spines broken in yk#but this is like. fresh#feels newer than ones in a bookstore#which i mean makes sense yk#the difference between the kn8 and dai dark volumes are so funny to me#staring at the way they're all stacked up rn#and no i didnt get any “real” books#the last time i tried to read a novel i got so confused by the setting#the whole story made no sense#but i made it chapter 4 or 5#also it was earlier this week i tried#actually was about to gag bc of the way a female character was described#it made me want to cry bc what was that#read better fanfics that were written by 14 y/os#and this guy got wtvr that was PUBLISHED and SOLD#and that's why i only borrow library books#ANYWYAS i've been wanting to read the kn8 manga for a bit now#but idk where to read it online and am too lazy to figure it out#but also if i have the choice between online or physical i have to say#i prefer physical books all the way#even if i cant read all of the chapters rn idrc#ill read the online version eventually but this'll just get me into it for now

i'm slowly reading the viz tl of owari no seraph (bc physical volumes) and im constantly like 'damn i wish i was reading this in jp' bc the localization pisses me off sjxkd i don't think i'm even being reasonable bc ill be like nooo i don't like the sfx tl and wehhh i want to see mikayuu use 'chan' when they call each other etc but also it takes me FOREVER to read manga in jp how would i ever get all the way to ch36/37 the mikayuu chapters of all time at that rate. sigh.

#full transparency i didn't read the whole the whole live-blog twitter thread about the podcast episode#but i started reading the first one#because i kept seeing people talk about them#and idk they were giving me bad vibes. like parts of it felt. idk victim blamey???#also it started off by being like 'this isn't a power imbalance if it's just a fan and a famous author'#which i just simply don't agree with#to me it is an imbalance if one of you is a literal celebrity and the other is a barely adult fan of yours#that's just my own opinion#but the whole thing just gave me a bad taste. like there was a lot of 'what she just laid there and didn't say anything?'#which is so. maybe i'm jaded but idk maybe she did even if she didn't like it#and also there's been multiple cases of confirmed abuse/assault that i've read about/seen where everything looked happy on the outside#like the fact that she sent him 'loving' messages the day after isn't enough for me to conclude that this woman is lying#and like. i'm not saying she can't be lying#but i also don't think there's enough evidence either way#at worst the allegations are true#and at best they're false and the people who published this piece are capitalizing off allegations of SA#both fucking suck#i said i'd stop talking about this but a lot of people's talk of the situation is rubbing me the wrong way#i was talking to a friend abt this and she was like 'the outlet and the journalists being sketchy doesn't mean the accusers are too'#which is personally how i feel as well#like yeah you're right the people who broke the news have red flags all around#but i wouldn't put it past people like this to capitalize off SA. real or not.#vent#rant

Need to somehow get a new getter review out to this world because there’s not enough damage coverage on this fucking show even though I keep debating myself if a video or blog format would be better- both would take a fuck ton of work either way but there’s too many pros and cons to consider.
#meg text#new getter robo#a video is seemingly more ideal cause new has such non existent review content (Mr cheese getter vid was good but it was brief on new)#but the issue is COPYRIGHT where as articles or blogs would not run into this issue whatsoever#just no one likes to read articles anymore#a article would also take less editing as video I have to grab so much footage but articles only need screencaps#but then comes where the FUCK do I find a website to even publish this on (I have a lot of choices but idk what would be good)#I’ll figure it out day… worse case I just dump something here ig

if i counted it right (and i counted very fast and my docs is a mess of "untitled document"s galore so i might be off by one to either way), but i have written like. eight fics this week so far
