my v3 hot take is that kokichi did not have feelings for shuichi in canon and any feelings he did have went away either in trial one seeing shuichi fumbling OR if not there then in trial three when shuichi saw him injured and just did not give a shit. like that crush did not survive first contact with the enemy, shuichi’s lack of compassion completely killed kokichi’s intrigue. it was just plain suspicion from then on

aw anon i’m sorry to hear this!!! i think it makes sense that you’re feeling differently toward your dad now that you have this new information, especially if it’s something you feel so strongly about. i’d say let your emotions run their course (in a safe and healthy way!) because whatever you’re feeling is valid, and then maybe when you feel like you’ve run through them and are ready to reflect on the situation you can do some thinking about it!

if you want my opinion: cheating sucks, and it’s not at all okay, but if your parents are still together and happy then it’s clear they worked through the situation and came out stronger on the other side. i don’t know the specific and finer details of the whole situation, but i think it’s important to remember that people are flawed, and people make mistakes and bad decisions. that doesn’t excuse their behaviour, obviously—they still need to own up to it and make amends, but it seems like your dad already did that. he make a mistake when he was young and i’d be willing to bet that he really regrets it. he isn’t the same person he was when he made that mistake; he has grown and evolved as a person and you even said it yourself, he’s a great dad. i think these are all good things to keep in mind when you do your own personal reflecting on the matter! whatever conclusions you come to, just know your feelings are valid <3 i hope you feel better soon sweetpea, sending u hugs!!!

Hyles met his uncle the moment he was sent over to the Sanatorium by his parents. He was fairly young and impressionable, though he had his own ideals and tendencies already quite drawn out. Part of these preoccupied his parents, aside from the mean cough, constant reverse fevers, and aches he suffered ever since they adopted him. Lucky for him, his uncle on his mother's side worked over there at the Sanatorium, which is how he was so easily found and admitted.

Anyway, point is, he was taken care of very lovingly by his uncle. So much so that he enabled his strange philosophies and thoughts. It was with his uncle that Hyles opened up to his attraction towards space. The man also noticed how much he appreciated moths, despite Hyles trying to make him think otherwise. Hyles gained lots of affection towards the man, enough to imagine he'd have the man with him his whole life.

Yet, beyond that seemingly normal relationship between (adoptive) uncle and nephew lies the usual toxicity Hyles's relationships tend to have.

His uncle is a little deranged himself in the sense that he is very devoted to his work in the Sanatorium – Hyles has also fallen victim to his experimentation, much like the rest of the patients. The difference is that Hyles doesn't take it as abuse, but a means to an end, and a show of affection. His body and mind can be used for the development of something dear to his uncle, that's a win for him. He happily allows himself to be used, sometimes even enjoying the pain if it makes his uncle smile.

In turn, his uncle indulges him further: he buys him gifts, gives him his favorite foods, calls him his favorite patient, gives him the best room in the Sanatorium, investigates further on his origin (though this is also for his own gain), allows Hyles to be as affectionate or as detached he wants with him or anyone, so on and so forth.

In conclusion, they have a very "good" relationship. The two do love each other in their own way, with varied amounts.
