hey this is actually one of the hardest things ive ever tried to do with my time as an artist. how the FUCK do etsy/shopvee/redbubble artists do this for a LIVING????

BIG News: I'm trying to make some really huge changes, and I'll need your help.

Before I grant any details, I gotta preface everything with the reality of our situation; Jay, the sole breadwinner, has been a victim of yet another "new hire surprise fire". He was booted without warning, written or verbal, about two weeks ago.

Evidently this is very common in the production wood/metalworking industry, otherwise this wouldn't have happened so many fucking times, because he's a great person with amazing work ethic and that's not just my bias talking - most of his coworkers have felt the exact same way as me across every company he's worked for.

Of course, THAT DAY we wasted no time in reaching out to contacts and applying for mountains of positions on Indeed, on company websites, and the state hiring portal. Nobody has contacted him back. ONE hiring agency gave him a "maybe". Even I have applied to several places for myself, with not so much as a rejection.

Seeing the trauma this caused him first hand was my final fucking straw.

I'm sick to death of suffering this tragedy. I'm sick to death of hearing the love of my life, my Fiancé, cry because of how he was fired. And I'm sick to death of coming here or crawling to my friends and family for money they don't have because we're legitimately hopeless for it.

I don't have the heart to continually beg for cash. It was never something I've been good at or proud of doing, and it kills me inside to DM people for commissions I don't even have the time nor energy to do. I'm sick of this. All of this. I need it all to stop.

So of course, I want to nip this in the goddamn bud.

I met a very sweet vendor in Iowa who gave me a load of resources on how to get started selling my art on actual things I get to see and hold for myself and hand to people in person, namely conventions. It's a hell of a risk but I need this to work. I'm so exhausted from asking for money so please help me make this be the last time I ever need to come here for help.

More details will come, because I'm also tired of making plans and leaping forward without having anything to show for it. When I actually have these products designed, that's when I'm going to show you guys everything I've made, with as much detail on my thinking and planning as I can get out there (because lord knows the internet has taken advantage of people's generosity before).

When that time comes, please *please* give me your support. It would legitimately be world-changing for us.

I just wanted to get this out here asap so people would know what I'm going through and, hopefully plan along with me. I don't just want this to happen, I *need* this to *succeed*. I don't have any other option. Right now, I'm busting my ass on product designs (literally because this chair hurts!!), and Jay can attest to that.

I plan on having *something* to show for all my hard work by next week, and soon after, a Kickstarter to make it a reality. Keep an eye out!!

It's hard to say that Bi Han treats you any differently... If he's even interested in this kind of thing in the first place. But it's not that he completely brushes you off, either—if you don't pay attention, you'll miss the way he looks at you despite his icy exterior, or the subtle things like a little extra care and/or consideration he does that he wouldn't normally do for anyone else. It's just that he wants to keep things under wraps as much as possible due to the lack of a title further than 'friends-with-benefits' between you two. Jealousy? Yes. If you end up trying to date and abandon him (so he puts it), he'll be so upset that he'll confess. You two will end up in a relationship... Someday.

Tomas will make it look like you two are in a relationship. Of course, you two really aren't—just see each other in the confines of a bed. That doesn't stop Tomas from being doting, though, and it makes certain people question whether or not you two are dating or more. One cannot so simply just say 'we're fucking with no title on', so he just meekly denies that you two are dating. It seems like he has a crush at the very least. Jealousy, yes, but very silently—you wouldn't know until much much later. The type to ask 'what are we?' when you are innocently doting back.

Bi Han likes to think pretend he's laying claim to you whenever he's fucking you into the mattress, but he has to remind himself when he's done he's not actually yours. Ironically, however, he's the one to remind you that you two aren't in a relationship whenever he thinks you're moving or acting too much like you're in one [with him]—he won't admit it, but he kind of likes it. It spurs him on to make sure you can't walk later. He won't initiate cuddles or aftercare, but he's incredibly responsive when you do. You eventually catch on, and it becomes a necessity at that point. Bi Han gets sulky if you don't.

Tomas focuses more on you than himself, but he makes sure to satisfy himself at least once before the whole endeavor ends. He's gentle if you've had a bad day, and he's rough if you're feeling particularly pent up—either way, you're getting your worth and more in the end. And, he won't say it, but he also likes to pretend that you two are in a relationship. But unlike the former, it slips a 'few times' that the person he's shoving his dick in isn't actually his significant other. It gets to him sometimes and he lies awake contemplating if asking you to become permanently his is a mistake, while he draws delicate circles on the crux of your back.

Be nice to each other: Main 4. Tomtord/Polyworld, angst. 4 pages. Matt confronts Tom and Tord on how have been acting, accidentally compelling them into saying how they really feel.

I drew this one quite a while ago and i still really like the dialogue and character interactions i wrote for it! vampire hypnosis is a super cool concept and im definitely going to use it in the future, but this ultimately didnt pan out how i wanted it to.

Why it's not posted: while the buildup and climax are really good, this would be a huge mess to clean up. this would require some serious work both between the four of them and on my part for writing and drawing all of that!! plus, it would totally change the relationship dynamic between Tom and Tord, possibly ending it altogether (and i still have so much i want to do with them!!!)

Ed and Edd: Eduardo, Edd, Eduardo's mother. No pairings, angst. 3 pages. Eduardo can't wait to introduce himself at school, but he's got competition for the name he chose.

Status: abandoned.

Trans Eduardo is such a good concept. imagine figuring out who you are only to find out someone else already is that. of course you're going to hate them.

Why it's not posted: two main reasons. one is that i couldn't figure out how to end the comic (a recurring theme lol), but another is that i'm still not super confident with writing Eduardo yet. ...or writing children. so kid Eduardo is a challenge.

would you mind sharing a bit about Angel's character design and the process of developing it? are there qualities of her personality/story that inform her appearance that you haven't shared so far? have you talked about her tattoos yet??

yeah absolutely!!! i have a Lot i could say here actually because its my favorite thing to think about when designing a character! this is going to get a little long. thanks for the question! 💕💕

to begin with, since she's paired with 2D ill be comparing the two a bit here. i intentionally wanted to use a lot of curves in her initial design from the git go (body shape, her curly hair, etc.) and generally contrast other features against his, so how i draw him with circle eyes, i draw her with much sharper ones, or him being like 6 ft and shes short af. which is not to say there's any real importance behind that besides my satisfaction seeing this scrawny coward of a man tower over this 4'9 chill af beef queen and knowing she could easily snap him in half if she wanted & he'd worship her for it. but anyway it is something i consider in contrast to 2D even in outfits. not that it's purely the only way they dress or anything, but angel tends to wear a lot more leather + punk elements in comparison to him so there's also contrast in style there reflective of their general attitudes.

her development + concept is sort of an odd one for me because i already had a mostly clear idea of what kind of character i wanted to make from the start, im sure it has something to do with just how long i've already been into gorillaz so ive.... def had the time to think about it lol. here are some REALLY rough sketches from the very first time i drew her, they're very ugly bc i never expected anyone to see but just want to show how little she's actually changed from initial conception? disregarding style ofc. i can't really explain my motives anymore than i wanted someone who was not afraid to challenge 2D, equally as wild + independent, but also supports his vulnerabilities, is protective of him. someone who would be similar to murdoc in attitude in a lot of ways but uses it to protect, not destroy.

spitballing some little stuff because ive been so in my head im not exactly sure what i've shared and what i havent lmao. some things angel used to do were habitual out of insecurity like when she used to straighten her hair from teenage-young adult years, but then started wearing it natural from p3 and on, or plucking her eyebrows so much she doesn't have really left anymore & has to draw them in. also her brothers used to make fun of her tooth gap and shit when she was a kid so she stopped open smiling but since being 2D she's felt confident about it again. has a lot of tats + piercings bc she was big into the rock/punk scene way back and that's something i try to show at least a little throughout her wardrobe no matter the phase. like an aging rock fan trying to get with the times. her style does get more "modern"? as the phases go on though, so her rock influences become a bit harder to spot by p7, but are most prevalent p2 & p4.

for tattoos, i have talked a little about it on her toyhouse page but ill go more into it here!! all current tattoos include:

large wings on her upper back - angel symbolism of course. she really leaned into liking her name the she older she got because it almost became a sense of pride to her as she's sort of a local legend to the general community. so with this one she got to represent that, her community and friends is what gives her her wings.

long roses + stems from her right forearm to her shoulder/collarbone - honestly she just fucks with it. was done by a friend who wanted to test her skills on her & angel really does not give af so ofc she was on board with that.

a small star under her left collarbone - represents an old friend she used to know and is put there so she can always keep them close to her heart.

a chubby cupid with a bow and arrow on the top of her right upper thigh - dare by a friend because they thought it was funny. plus you know. angel symbolism with her name. anyway the arrow points directly at her you know.

a heart with an arrow through it on her left shoulder - used to have her ex best friend/crush’s name on it but she had it completely removed later when they had a big falling out, so it's just the heart now. was one of the first things she had tattooed on her when she was a teenager)

a large black scorpion just below the left shoulder and all down her upper arm - represents her old band, the scorpion was a symbol they used for a one-off album.

a dagger with a snake wrapped around the blade on her left forearm - honestly she just fucks with it. another done by a friend to test on her.

and a small cross on her left middle finger - she grew up in a christian household, although she's atheist, it still holds some comfort to her. but mostly it's just funny to flip murdoc off with (and why she initially got the tattoo lmao bc she cant stand his ass)

when thinking about angel's design/lore i have to be mindful that not even gorillaz cares this much about their own lore or go deep into it at all lmao. so i always struggle with how far should i cross that line in the name of developing an interesting character i can imagine for the world and how much i should step back and be like.... "its just gorillaz bro" lmfao. so i TRY (keyword try) to only briefly go over some things in her lore and not dig too deep into it. but its hard being a gorillaz fan and wanting to be invested 💔

As a fellow artist, I was curious to know what your process is for drawing your comics? I really want to get into comic drawing, but I always hit a brick wall when I try it. I was wondering if you had any advice for where to start?

For longer and more involved comics I usually use thumbnails to panel out ideas first:

Just so I don't lose momentum. I have a bad habit of just ramming straight through and then losing motivation so it never gets done (looks at my relay comic that i STILL havent started).

For sillier, lighter comics or stuff that is following a direct quote from a book (like some of my drizzt ones) I generally try to limit myself to one 'page' as a self-imposed challenge. I like to focus on expressions so a lot of my comics are talking head sort of stuff.

I guess if I have any advice, it's just having fun with it? Comics are a really interesting medium and there's a lot to play with, but it usually helps to know that you have a start and end point (especially when you're working with traditional media like pencils and paper) so I'd recommend sketching things out first.

Thumbnailing is also a great way to just play with compositions without committing too! So yeah, plan ahead a bit is the advice I can give you.

When Luchia was younger, saved a boy from drowning, same stuff as the original only in my version, she gets reminded of this fact her ENTIRE LIFE! like this is a pretty big deal in the long run!! shes incredibly embarrassed by this and while she isn't exactly bullied for this...nobody lets her forget this. The Princess who gave her pearl to a human she barely even knew. It made her disinterested in humans due to the negative associations she has with them. Eventually, at 16, she decides to make an effort to retrieve it due to an omen from her auntie. She attends a local college in japan, the last time she recalled actually visiting the human world in search of the human boy. Unfortunately, she has no leads for several years but she does learn about human society more.

While Luchia isn't exactly eager about humans, that doesnt mean she can't style herself cutely! So I drew her with Japanese fashion in mind. I decided to make her actually have a red pearl yet she chooses to wear pink cuz she wants to! Shes also based off of northern pacific fish as well, i took into account common features between north pacific fish and applied that to her mermaid design.

She likes fashion and beauty alot!! :3

Eventually, when Luchia begins college, the towns lovely surfer boy finally comes back after spending some time in Hawaii, Kaito. Yet Luchia doesn't recognize him. I honestly tried re-designing Kaito but I just couldn't make him appealing enough, to me anyway.

With how I've designed Luchia, I feel like she wouldn't actually really be interested in dating, especially with danger on the horizon. But! I am to ideas lol. I kinda cooked alot but its mainly cuz i love mermaid melody sm :3

hi guys!

just wanted to post a little update because I've been struggling

I have had so many ideas recently and I think I'm getting overwhelmed by them or I don't have rhe motivation to do them or idk where to start. It's something but im stressed lol

On the bright side of that I have a lot of new things in store! New ocs, new story ideas, and new drawing ideas for fanart and for my ocs. For pride I want to draw all of my ocs with their flags and such. I have the poses figured out and everything!

And of course I'm still working on asks and other wips I have (Which is a lot if wips)

Ive just been feeling so creative and so uncreative at the same time recently so I haven't been able to do much. AND I've been worried about my cuphead to other stuff ratio rn tbh, but its fine. I've never drawn any fandom stuff for this long before it's insane

Hello! I just saw your Life Series Winners art and was curious- is there any specific symbolism for mars and jupiter? I haven't seen them used before but it seems interesting :)

I honestly just went with what the wider fandom has deemed their symbols - all except Cleos, I had no idea what symbol represented her so I went looking for discussion on it and found one with people suggesting Jupiter. After I posted it I got a lot of people telling me that Pluto fit Cleo better and I am inclined to agree with that; Pluto in myth is the god of the underworld, ruler of the dead - Cleo as a zombie is dead, yet not. Pluto as a dwarf planet also fits because many dont consider Real Life to be canon, and thus Cleos win not to be - simular to how Pluto isnt a planet anymore.

When it comes to symbolism behind Jupiter - some elements fit, but not enough to consider Cleo as Jupiter; after a bit of googling I found that Jupiters symbolism is luck, growth, optimism, responsibility and sort of mightyness? I believe the luck and responsibility fits with Cleo, being lucky to win Real Life and being a sort of leader in her alliances (not all of them, but some), but not enough to really be her symbol.

As for Martyn being Mars, thats one I’ve seen in a lot of fanart around Limited Life, I know there is discussion around it (some would say Martyn is a comet) - I think Mars fits because Martyns behavior in Limited Life was agressive (a lot of players were in that season, there were a lot of kills and deaths in general). Mars in myth is the god of war, wanting bloodshed and death. The planet itself has symbolism of determination, action, wrath, agression and a strong will for survival, also impulsivity - just based on symbolism alone Mars seem to fit very well with this; Martyn is motivated to survive, he is agressive and sometimes too impulsive, he takes action to get the job done and rarely hesitates on his goals.

I am very much new to the symbolism thing behind them - some are easier to understand; like Grian and Pearls. I dont fully understand why Scott is the Stars or why Scar is Earth (some would say Mercury or Eclipse, I dont know). I know it has to do with their behaviour in the season they won or the symbol behind the planets and celestial objects itself. I personally dont believe in Astrology so I dont know too much about it, just googled a little for this answer. Personally I just like the symbolism for designs and illustration purposes. I am trying to research it though, just havent had the time with studying and life in general. After the new season comes out and concludes I’ll update this lineup.
