I don’t frequent the TikTok therian community much, but I really do enjoy the idea of a “therian summer camp” that I see posted about on there. There’s something so fun and sweet about it.

Cabins for housing all the kinds of animals that come, you could stay with your own species or be with all different kinds of animals you would’ve never met otherwise

Birds nesting in the top bunks, foxes and rabbits creating their dens in the bottom bunks

Activities that teach how to cook and add new species-appropriate dishes to your diet

Lots of hiking and time in nature, reflective meditation time out in the trees or water for those who want a peaceful activity

Being able to behave naturally without feeling bad or weird, because everyone there is an animal! Everyone would see it as normal when/if you were to respond with barks or squeaks or yips or meows or whatever your instinct is

Drawing and trading little portraits of your fellow camp mates, going to arts and crafts activities and making friendship bracelets and tie dye T-shirts or gear like masks and ears

Music and dance done by community members, poems read and art shared with each other

The last night could be held on a full moon, with everyone coming together for performances and food and play under the moonlight 🩶

Nonhumans are here, even if you do not see us. We always will be. We are often hard to spot, but can be found doing all the things a human might.

A cat went to work at an event stall for a mental health service.

A massive sea serpent wanted to go to science class because it enjoyed it more than the rest of those living in its shared form.

The void sat down, huddled up in a blanket, to watch a tv show with its partners. It had to stop watching after a bit, but enjoyed spending time with those close to it anyway.

A wolf went to a psychologist appointment and gratefully drank the hot chocolate they were offered in the waiting room.

A shapeshifting being of pure darkness spoke publicly about trans rights in front of politicians and then went to the pride festival he helped fight to keep alive.

A dragon went to school so the others sharing his human body could have a break.

A manifestation of the fear of madness itself sat in the food court at the mall eating mochi and drinking tea while waiting for its friends to get back from shopping.

A witch drew a picture of his cardinal bird and shared the work he was so proud of with his friends.

A cockatoo borrowed the next book in his favourite series from the school library and almost couldn't wait the whole day to go home and read it.

An alien went camping and watched the birds outside and the way the wind made waves and patterns on the water.

A fallen angel went shopping for sunglasses to shield his eyes from how bright the sun was.

A harpy went shopping for new plants to look after. He named a few because he loved them so much, and sent pictures to all of his friends.

An anthropomorphic hedgehog traded Pokemon cards with his peers at school. He was happy with his collection.

You may not see us, and you may feel alone, but you are not. We are just hidden. We are in more places than you'd think, and in the places you'd least expect. We are complex, we are valued, and we are here.

What do humans have against catkins?

Like, just the other day, I overheard my family make a joke, "and some people identify as cats." It was the only part I could hear, but it made me realize something.

Every time people talk about therians/otherkins, it's always the cats they go after.

Which says a lot about how little they know.

So don't care about what they say. They clearly don't have any clue what they are talking about.

I'm not part of the Therian/otherkin community but I do look up nonhuman/Alterhuman tags occasionally because sometimes there are things over there that relate to my experience as a Vampyre,

And This is one of them

I do talk mostly about the V/C (vampire community) and how this relates a bit to this post underneath a cut (for those of you who don't wish to read my ramblings) some important text is highlighted if you would rather just skim...

In The VC we have a word for people like this, who are Vampire In a sense but feel outcast from the rest of the Greater community,

This word is ronin,

I consider myself a ronin Vampyre,

Yes Us Vamps have "ugly instincts" as there called like you guys do, (though we often label those as symptoms of twoofing/the hunger/ vamping out) they are a little more flexible to talk about but the VC does have a bit of a similar problem as you guys do here.

I do not participate in houses orders or vampiric groups, I am in the community but I stick to myself and the lesser community, I have my reasons, alot of the Greater VC and it's larger Collection of groups tends to have it's problem children.

Now I know it seems a little weird that a Japanese word is used for this but it makes more sense when you look up what the word Ronin means:

"The term Ronin was used to describe the masterless samurai."

In this case it refers to someone without a teacher who wanders a little aimlessly, but it can also apply to that general outcast or teetering on the edge feeling.

And thats why we use it,

Especially considering I'm seeing alot of these style of posts about that community popping up now, perhaps some of you could come to a conclusion and make a word that branches you off from them?

I Think that's everything I wanted to cover.

Anyone else feel like an outcast in the alterhuman community?

Most of the therians/alterhumans/nonhumans I see online are minors; I’m 20 years old.

Most of them can do quadrobics; I can’t run on all fours for five minutes without everything hurting, and if I did a jump, I’d probably break my wrists

A lot of them seem to enjoy the company of humans; I’ve never trusted or liked humans

Most of the community talks about being “silly” or “cute” when experiencing a mental shift; I have violent, animal instincts and avoid others when I feel a mental shift coming on

I don’t know. I just feel like a lot of us have become… tame. And I’m not. I feel like we as a community don’t talk about the “darker” side of not being human. The violent prey drive. The instinctive fear of humans that wild animals have.

To clarify, I mean no hate towards those who genuinely enjoy not being human. I just feel like even in a community of outcasts, I’m an outcast.

It’s just frustrating. In a place meant for those who aren’t human, I’m still too different to fit in. I just want to have a place to belong, you know?

You will never always be cool. Or aesthetic, or pleasing.

No matter what you are, be it a majestic dragon, a powerful wolf, the void itself, a bunny, or even a song, a concept or object. Anything.

We almost all are organisms or living, one way or another, and organisms do strange and gross things. A wolf still needs the bathroom, a "cutesy" bunny may still need sexual things or things that aren't "innocent", sometimes even a God or holy figure may want to mess around and play with their hands like puppets. An eldrich being may make a childish sound to stim.

Everyone is gross or weird or uncool sometimes. It's just our nature as individuals. Let yourself need and want these things, and accept the weirdness being individual brings.
