Its A Wonderful Life

"What's happened to him?" Marinette asked, voice quiet as she watches as Adrien stays curled on the couch, staring at the window with a vacant look.

"He was there to confront Hawk Moth," Tikki said, having been Marinette's guide for this journey. A little tick in her time as Ladybiquity. Sometimes her mind would slip into another universe, the only signs of it not being a dream is when Tikki showed up, leaving her user. After all, Tikki technically existed in the space between the universes, her memories were tied to the universe she was in. But when Marinette visited, Tikki would sense her.

Marinette breathes in sharply. "Why-"

"Because he's a Miraculous user," Tikki said. Something Marinette has noticed. Tikki never revealed identities. It was always Hawk Moth, never Gabriel until Marinette confirms it. A Miraculous user was never the user identity, just a wielder. Who knew what Miraculous Adrien had.

"That-didn't he know?!"

Tikki nodded. "He did. He was first to approach. He asked to try and find a peaceful surrender," she said.

"But if it went badly-" Marinette's voice was raising quickly.

"He accepted those risks, Marinette," Tikki said. "He fought Hawk Moth as best he could. He was vital, he stayed Mayura's hand several times."

"But now he's like this!" Marinette shouted, gesturing to him, tears in her eyes. "Talking failed and he's like this, who could think it was worth it?!"

Tikki stared at Marinette. "What do you think he's like?"

"Miserable! Devastated! Alone! He...how can he recover from his father...his father-"

"I really don't know why you cry over him. He was such a jerk." A new choice interrupts and Marinette looks at the scene again and there is Chloe, leaning against the back of the couch.

Adrien looked back at Chloe. "He wasn't that bad."

"If you mean by that bad, you mean my mother, then sure, you have a point," Chloe said dryly.

Adrien huffed. "No one could quite match her spite."

"Of course not. That and pretty eyes are the only good things I inherited," she said, preening a bit.

That actually got a weak laugh from Adrien.

Chloe looked at him and her expression softened. "I'm going to draw you a bath. Nino will be here to help you clean up. Everyone else will be here in about an hour."

Adrien frowned. "You guys don't have to-"

Chloe puts a finger to his lips. "Don't," she said. "You two were there for me after I realized how bad mom was. Only makes sense you'd have a lot more, lovable dork you are," she said. "Also, stop using thumb print for your phone. Pollen is starting to beg me for phones for our kwami," she said.

"...did he really fly all the way-"

"Yes."

"...I'll apologize later."

"Good boy," Chloe said, straightening up. "I'm going to get that bath now.

Marinette stared as Adrien sat up, wiping at his eyes, seeing the life return to his eyes.

"You know destruction can be good, right, Marinette?" Tikki asked gently.

"Of course I do!" Marinette said.

"How is it?"

"It can get rid of obstacles and...and..." Marinette opened her mouth. She knew there was more, but she was struggling to find the words.

"Somethings that exist can be terrible," Tikki said. "And should be broken down. Sometimes that destruction is vast and deep...but that just means there is room to create," she said and looked at Adrien. "A lot has been destroyed for Adrien, but what had been there had made bars. For a while, he is going to hurt. But he has friends there to help him rebuild."

Marinette can only stare, arms wrapped tight around herself. Adrien still looked so tired, hurt, but he was slowly lighting up. Almost laughing at Chloe ranted in the bathroom, and she could see the fire and light around that girl that hadn't been there when she was been cold and cruel when she last saw her.

She spoke ill of her mother.

And Marinette wonders if she had protected what should have been destroyed.

"Do you have people?"

"What?" Marinette asked, looking at Tikki.

"When everything falls apart, do you have people to help you rebuild?"

Marinette was quiet for a long time. "I should," she finally whispered.

Tikki nodded. "You were always an ambitious one. But its not too late, to find your builders, I'm sure," she said.

And Marinette...

Marinette hoped that was the case.

when will we talk about the willful helplessness epidemic on here. So many people on this god forsaken website demand to have any and all things that exist outside their personal experiences directly, personally pre-chewed and spoonfed to them. And when you do, they'll then ask for you to swallow for them, too, because, you see, in THEIR experience..,

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.

For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.

The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.

So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.

Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. Also HOW does he take these on and off. Experts weigh in
