You gotta hand it to Fig. All of the Bad Kids were given foils this season and they got to decide how much they wanted to engage with that part of the plot. Gorgug only interacted with Mary Ann in passing despite them both being on the Owlbears. Fabian noped out of chatting up Ivy once she crossed a line with Mazey. Riz was so busy that he truly had no time to engage with Kipperlilly even though she's obsessed with him. Kristen interacted a bit with Buddy but spent way more time verbally sparring with Kipperlilly. And Adaine was somewhat interested in Oisin but never overtly acted on it.

But Fig?

She's in Ruben's WALLS. She's in his DREAMS. She's faking her alter emo's death. She's got the Fantasy FBI after her. She's SO SO tiny. No one is doing it like Fig's doing it.

Wanted to draw a more realistic version of bhtf boys but kinda went a bit overboard with lighting and don't have enough energy to correct it anymore fjahjdjd oh well. Maybe another time.

I simplify their designs a lot, as I just don't really have energy to draw this much detail at all times so it might be a bit of a surprise just how neglected they look in reality lmao.

But their clothes would be constantly stained in blood and mud.(Which I unfortunately forgot to include with sun oops) Heavily patched and look very messy, like it was made by a child. Nothing about their looks would signal anything but unfriendliness, even Moon's fur somehow looks unusually spiky, clogged with dried blood and debris. It's very unpleasant to the touch when you meet them the first time. The blood on their clothes is all shades of red: faded, dry and fresh. They'd smell very distinctively of death. Rot, metal and blood. Until the first laundry day, that is.

As I open my bedroom door, Selene darts out around my feet and across the hall. She darts directly towards the sunroom door. Simon mentioned that she does like being in there, but something about the way she moved suggested it wasn't sunbathing she was after. So I followed her.

"Selene," I call to her softly. "Here, kitty-"

A small... creature that is not Selene darts across the center of the room and I freeze. It disappears through the small jungle of plants on the right wall. I remain frozen and wide-eyed just inside the sunroom. Then Selene chirps and my eyes are drawn to her, perched on a table near the far wall. When my eyes meet hers, she blinks slowly.

It was just a rat. Selene felt the need to run in here so it had to have been a rat, right?

Right.

Not some tiny, humanoid creature. Just a rat running on it's hind legs.

It's fine.

Selene shifts, drawing my attention away from the plants that the rat disappeared into. Guessing she's looking for attention before we leave, I make my way over to her and gently pet her head. A sense of calm washes over me as I pet her. She's such a soothing creature.

"13?" Simon's voice calls from down the hall.

"In the sunroom," I call back, still petting Selene.

"Are you ready?" he asks as he enters the room. His eyes land on Selene and I immediately.

"Yeah, just wanted to give Selene some love before we leave."

"Johnny's going to meet us at the shops. Still ok with him hanging around today?"

I nod, my eyes drifting back toward the plants.

"Yeah, let's go," I say suddenly and make my way towards the door.

It was just a rat. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's sometimes odd how posts that do numbers on other platforms simply do not take off here, and the way stuff that blows up here flops elsewhere.

But if there's anything that I've learned, it's that the whole goddam internet loves the rat gun.
