Day 11 : Wander (Errer)

2 people, that used to be strangers at first. A young girl and a blue deer. They will meet in a very unique adventure, to start off a new life in an abandoned island. The young girl is named Manavaï, and the young deer is named Takeru (Nacer in French).

Together with a penguin they were the first one to live on this island, and they start to turn this deserted island into a beautiful paradise.

As weeks goes by a lot more people starts to live in there with them. They were very happy of what they've accomplished already, but it was just the beginning.

As the island gets more beautiful as time goes by, the 2 friends decided to go for a walk together as they look at what they've done so far.

As they wander on the beach, they are talking about new ways of improving the life in their new home.

11. La vie d’un pigeon

Je m’en souviendrai de ces maudites patates. Le maraîcher a toqué à la porte, j’ai flairé l’embûche, or mon bon cœur m’a perdue, il m’a dit que son père était malade et c’était parti, non pas cinq kilos de pommes de terre des sables, mais cinquante kilos. Il m’a assuré qu’elles ne germeraient pas avant longtemps. Mes fesses c’est du poulet rôti...Se faire nougater ainsi, ça me connaît : quand j’achète un produit et que je découvre le prix ensuite. Mon seul non regret : avoir fait une pseudo bonne œuvre qui sentait l’arnaque.  J’ai mangé de la pomme de terre presque tous les jours sous toutes ses formes possibles tout l’été (et j’en ai donné la moitié aux amis, à la famille et aux collègues). J’ai fait une overdose de patates. Je ne pouvais plus les voir dans mon assiette, ni en purée, ni au four, ni en gnocchis. Je me suis donc fait patater. Je mène vraiment une vie de pigeon. J’en roucoule de dépit. Rrrourrrou !

Voyance

Rimbaud et Baudelaire ont fait correspondances  Pour que le monde avance et leur voie persévère  A trouver une voix outre les apparences 

Le poète est vaillant de moyens et de fin  La poésie veillant à notre humanité  En fait en soi obstacle autant que liberté  Et aussi réceptacle idéal aux confins 

La croyance est toujours une fatalité

Je vois...

Défi d’écriture 30 jours pour écrire, 11 août 

Thème : Voyance/la vie d’un pigeon

Ne croyez pas ce que vous disent les films. Une bonne voyante ne commence jamais par « je vois ». D’abord, il faut qu’elle prenne du temps pour connaître son client, ses souhaits, ses résistances. Du temps pour qu’elle se connecte réellement à lui. Puis à son avenir. Alors seulement, si tout se passe bien, elle voit.

Celle-ci n’est clairement pas une très bonne voyante.

« Je vois… je vois…

Ce qu’elle voit, plongée sur sa boule de cristal, c’était sans aucun doute la vie d’un pigeon. Je n’ai jamais nié l’être. Je paye beaucoup pour quelques mots de réconfort. Un peu d’espoir. Et si le message n’est pas assez positif, je change de crèmerie.

Mais est-ce qu’on peut vraiment s’auto-catégoriser pigeon ? Si on sait pourquoi on paye, on n’est pas déçu, non ? Et ça reste moins cher que le téléphone rose. Enfin je crois.

— Je vois… de l’eau.

— De l’eau ? Une île ? Je vais partir en vacance sur une île ?

L’idée me plait bien. Peut-être qu’après tout, j’avais mal jugé la dame. Elle n’a pas assuré en matière de spectacle, mais si on part directement sur les fantasmes de tropiques, ça me va.

Elle a vite douché mon enthousiasme.

— De l’eau stagnante. De la vieille eau. Dans un lieu humide.

Beurk. Ce n’est pas avec ce genre d’avenir qu’elle peut compter me garder comme client. Je tente quand même de la remettre sur les rails.

— Un lieu humide, comme une grotte ? C’est une visite ? Un bel endroit à découvrir ?

— Je vois la mort. Une scie. Une cave.

Ah. Ça, ce n’était pas prévu.

— Je vois une femme terrifiée. Un meurtre. Une valise.

Tsss. Une bonne voyante devrait être capable de prévoir les conséquences de ses visions – et à quel moment elle devrait fermer sa gueule. Je cherche du regard un objet contondant à portée de la main. Tant qu’elle concentrée sur la boule, son crâne est sans défense.

— Je vois du sang. Tellement de sang. Des vêtements brûlés.

Ça va, ça va, pas la peine de me faire un dessin, j’étais là, je m’en souviens très bien. Vieille saloperie. J’avais demandé mon avenir, pas mon passé !

Et puis merde. En terme d’objet contondant, j’ai tout ce qu’il me faut sous la main après tout, et j’attrape la boule….

« Mains en l’air ! Bougez plus ! »

Les flics débarquent, envahissant le petit espace du cabinet de voyance, et je me retrouve menotté avant d’avoir eut le temps de dire ouf. Et alors que les policiers essayent de réconforter ma voyante, qui  a l’air d’aller très bien, elle me dit avec calme :

« Une bonne voyante commence par prédire sa propre journée. Ça peut aider quand on croise des cas comme le vôtre… Mais ne vous en faites pas : je vous prédis une très longue vie, dans un environnement pas trop ensoleillé, et aux frais de la princesse ! »

it's kinda weird that when you look at health recommendations for various medical conditions associated with fatness it's always 'just lose 10% of your body weight to see a risk reduction' (so like 20-30 pounds for the average overweight or obese person according to the bmi) but then in day to day medicine there's not really a way of like, removing obesity as a diagnosis on your insurance paperwork for example, even if by a certain standard you've lost enough weight to reduce the risk of health conditions that insurance would be concerned about. if you're an average height weighing 300 pounds and lose 30 pounds, which seems to be the amount that's considered reasonable to lose and maintain if you want to like, reduce your cholesterol, you've gone from morbidly obese to morbidly obese.

Carrying over from the late 1600s, the wig was the hairstyle de jour for men of the 18th century. For most of the 1700s either natural or white hair colour were favoured. White wigs were the most expensive and sought after, so powdering one's own hair became the fad to give the illusion of wealth. Fun fact: this is where the term "powder room" comes from, as powdering hair required a separate room to contain the mess. CC links and reference images under the cut.

I need an au where no one has heard them talk before until now. Like, people probably assumed they were mute because of this and were shocked when they randomly say something while… I don’t know.. The fam was having an argument or can’t decide on something. They don’t even say a lot too-

After his hyungs died krs spoke less and less until he just didn’t. He still lead great though (signals, arm movements, power points kinda, notes, actions, etc). It’s just, by the time the switch happened, it didn’t seem weird for him to not speak.

Speaking of which (pun kinda not intended).

After Jour’s funeral, Cale had also started speaking less. BUT DON’T THINK THATS GONNA STOP HIM!! He has a pretty mean glare-

By the time he was around 11 - 12 he stopped (a slow process like Roksu).

You know that noble meeting that explained why he had a black set? I can just imagine him darkly smirking.

Anyways-

The first time someone would here him speak would probably be the touching moment Choi han and Cale had to boost morale (hug <3)

(But before that, Cale would probably whisper in someone’s ear and they would probably think that person is crazy if they try to tell someone else. lol. This doesn’t have to happen)

Matt Yglesias has a point he likes to make about progressive attitudes towards political platforms. Basically all the progressive activists realize that Republican candidates benefit electorally from moderating (or appearing to moderate); but they seem to resist claims that Democrats would benefit similarly. E.g. from today's post about Kamala Harris:

9. To win, Harris needs to find ways to moderate her image, and critically, she is going to have to be allowed to do that by her supporters. 10. Donald Trump is in many ways a bad politicians and a bad candidate. His numbers are terrible, his manner is off-putting, and his record is plagued with scandal. But his “be allowed to do that” score is off the charts. If it’s convenient for him to start saying nicer things about electric cars in exchange for Elon Musk’s money, he does that. If it’s convenient for him to pretend the Republican Party isn’t deeply committed to banning abortion, he does that. 11. Every progressive I know recognizes that these Trumpian stabs at moderation are good for Trump, and that it’s good for the left to try to expose them as lies. The progressives who recognize that need to see the symmetry here.

I think he's right about this, but I understand why a lot of progressives aren't convinced by this. Yglesias describes Trump's abortion position as "moderating", but you could also describe it as moving to the left.

I think a lot of progressive activists really believe that leftist progressivism is genuinely popular in the US. (It's not! But they believe it.) So they believe that Republicans would benefit electorally from shifting to the left, and that Democrats would benefit electorally from shifting to the left. This is why you get all those things about "Democrats would win if they'd just take a firm stance in favor of liberating Palestine and launching a single-payer health care system" or whatever the topics du jour are.

Like, this is badly wrong. It does not accurately describe the American political landscape. But it's an internally coherent model that (1) explains why Republicans benefit from moderating but (2) wouldn't expect Democrats to benefit from moderating.

This past week was filled with drama, disappointment (for many), disillusionment, etc. Our grief will go on, to paraphrase the Titanic song. It would be easy to simply fold up our lives and disengage with everything and everyone with whom we are disappointed, but I think that does an injustice to both ourselves and those who need us. It is for such times as these we must simply do the next indicated thing, whatever that might be. Like my Stunt Double du Jour, we must simply prepare for the next stage in our journey and see if we can't iron out our differences. © keefderpoet, 2024

Lettre d'une femme âgée enfermée dans une maison de retraite.

" Cette lettre représente l'équilibre de ma vie. J'ai 82 ans, 4 enfants, 11 petits-enfants, 2 arrière-petits-enfants et une chambre de 12 mètres carrés.nJe n'ai plus de maison ni d'objets qui me sont chers, mais j'ai quelqu'un qui range ma chambre, me prépare à manger et fait mon lit, contrôle ma tension artérielle et me pèse. Je n'ai plus le rire de mes petits-enfants, je ne peux plus les voir grandir, s'embrasser et se battre; certains d'entre eux viennent me voir tous les 15 jours ; d'autres tous les trois ou quatre mois ; d'autres, jamais. Je ne fais plus de croquettes ni d'œufs farcis ni de rouleaux de viande hachée, ni de point de croix. J'ai encore quelques passe-temps à faire le puzzle le sudoku qui m'amuse un peu. Je ne sais pas combien il me restera, mais il faut que je m'habitue à cette solitude ; je fais de l'ergothérapie et j'aide comme je peux ceux qui sont plus mal lotis que moi, même si je ne veux pas trop m'attacher : ils disparaissent fréquemment. On dit que la vie s'allonge de plus en plus. Pourquoi ? Quand je suis seule, je peux regarder les photos de ma famille et quelques souvenirs que j'ai ramenés de chez moi. J'espère que les prochaines générations comprendront que la famille est faite pour avoir un lendemain (avec les enfants) et pour rendre à nos parents le temps qu'ils nous ont donné pour nous élever "
