Ever had a poem or song written about you: Not as far as I'm aware, no. Dunno how I'd react if someone had done it... probably would depend on how well I knew them. When was the last time you played air guitar: ...I dunno, actually. I'm way more likely to just jiggle my leg and tap my fingers to the rhythm on whatever hard surface is nearest. Who is your celebrity crush?: Uhhhhh... I dunno. Like, I have a lot of celebrities that I REALLY like, like Robin Williams (R.I.P.) and Daniel Craig, but I'm not really crushing on any celebrities at all? Not that those two would be likely candidates, since I'm a heterosexual guy, but nyeh. What’s a sound you hate? A sound you love?: The sound of people chewing with their mouth open and the sound of polystyrene. Sounds I love though... I'm struggling to think of anything other than meowing. Some meowing, of course. I just like talking to cats and having them talk back. :3

Do you believe in ghosts?: Not really, no. How about aliens: I mean, do you KNOW how big the universe is? No, of course you don't. No-one knows how big the universe is, that's how fucking big it is. And when you look at the sky, and see all those stars? There's even more planets than stars. We cannot be the only planet where life occured and flourished. Like, that's just statistically impossible, I think. Do you drive?: Nah. Honestly, I'm a little scared of learning, and if I did learn I'd probably just work on getting a license for an automatic. What was the last movie you saw?: Knives Out!! Such a great film, great to see Daniel Craig proving that he can do more than just James Bond even after so long, and Chris Evans showing that he can still be an asshole after being Captain America for so long. What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?: ...Honestly, it's a bit of a draw. When I fell of the horse, like I mentioned above, I fell onto my back, couldn't get up for a minute, and wasn't in any condition to get back on the horse that day. My arm and shoulder hurt for 2 weeks, and my back was aching for a week or two after that. And that was when I was a teenager. More recently, I ended up falling backwards in a really awkward way and busted both of my kneecaps. Couldn't get up for five minutes, got up, managed to finish my walk home, and then could barely walk for like a week, and my knees still hurt 3 weeks later. That was when I was much older so I dunno which is worse really. Do you have any obsessions right now?: .....Watermelon/Suika Game. Shush.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE

One of my favorite bands when it comes to songwriting and lyricism. Josh Homme can be very funny and silly goofy quirky with some nonsense lyrics or be very serious and thought provoking. All while some badass music plays in the background. I'd say their most famous album, Songs For The Deaf, is a great starting point for those just getting into these guys.

Songs For The Deaf:

A good deep dive album in my opinion is 2007's Era Vulgaris. A much slower paced album than most of their others, but still captivates the listener like all their other albums. It has some really strong songs like 3s and 7s and Into the Hollow. ALSO THE BASS TONE ON THIS ALBUM GODDAMN.

Lastly, my personal favorite album of theirs and what might be my favourite album of all time... 2005's Lullabies to Paralyze. The whole album melds together amazingly and has this tension all throughout that really draws you in. It's full of amazing tracks, like literally all of the songs on this album are so good. I highly recommend you listen to thos album (and also all of their other albums cuz they are all so so so good)

a/n: sorry for not posting much lately. here’s a fluffy little drabble written for a friend. much love to everyone reading this.

"Vernon, what… what are you doing?"

Your boyfriend spins his desk chair to look at you, grinning widely. Your shared pet cat, Leo, is still sitting on his lap, with Vernon's hands under his front legs holding him upright and a confused expression on his face as he blinks slowly at you.

"I'm sampling him!" While you look between your boyfriend and your cat, he suddenly lets out a meow that you decide is either a cry for help or affirmation of your boyfriend's strange response. Before you can say anything, Vernon’s expression lights up.

"That was good," he says, looking back down at your cat, and then swivels his chair back around. You realize then that Leo’s face is, in fact, perfectly level with Vernon’s microphone with the way he’s holding him. He releases his front legs and scratches under his chin before glancing back over his shoulder at you.

"Here, babe, come listen to this."

Once you're in front of his computer yourself, you realize that there are at least a dozen sound files named after your cat spread along his screen, and you look over at him. Your cat is now curled up on his lap contentedly since he's let go of him to use his hands.

"How long have you been at this?" you ask, watching him navigate to a separate window — one which you recognize as a song in progress, though you think it may be a new one. Your boyfriend frequently has a handful of projects in the works at once, so you can't be sure, but once he starts playing it you know you've never heard it. Specifically, you know you've never heard a song by Vernon where he samples your cat’s meowing and purring.

It's good (then again, everything he makes is good) but you're still confused as to how exactly it happened. Your boyfriend is certainly creative, but he's never even mentioned this before.

"So, how did this come about again?" Your boyfriend looks very pleased that you asked, stroking Leo’s head with a smile,

"I was producing and then Leo came in and meowed at me. It was perfect." He smiles down at said cat, now fast asleep, and scratches gleefully behind his ears.

Satisfied with his very Vernon answer, you turn your attention back to the music still playing through the speakers. The instrumental is good, but a little cutesy and acoustic for what Vernon usually likes to rap to. Although you wouldn't be surprised to hear him pull such a 180 on his eventual mixtape, you still can't help but think it's just not… him. Or at least, him solely.

"Do you have lyrics in mind?" you ask, leaning your hip against the edge of the desk. Vernon shakes his head.

"No, but I was thinking of asking Woozi and Josh — I think Josh suits this kind of sound, you know?" When you listen with that in mind, you can't help but find yourself agreeing, unable to suppress a grin at the thought of the cat-like boy featuring. You’re sure fans will have a field day with that one. As the song comes to an end and your boyfriend immediately begins falling into his familiar routine, muttering something under his breath as he skims across the song’s timeline, you push yourself away from the desk. Gently, you ruffle his hair, smiling,

“Well, I’m gonna order lunch. You two have fun.” You press a kiss to his cheek and then reach down to give Leo a few loving scratches on top of his head before leaving the room, throwing one last glance at your two favorite beings before exiting.

blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most) From Flatt & Scruggs: Earl Eugene Scruggs, his thick black eyelashes, and his dorky gap-toothed grin. Earl Scruggs and his soulful, earthy, expertest banjo picking that makes me react ferally (in ways no other banjo picker can do for me... look, he's the Father of Bluegrass Banjo!!! We're all playing after Earl to an extent!). Earl Scruggs, the inspiration for why I have a banjo sitting next to me rn. That Earl.

I know way too much information about his life, don't test me, it's bad, it's endless Scruggs lore, I won't shut up for five months.

scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped) From the Del McCoury Band: Delano Floyd McCoury, who has the happiest smile-laugh ever. Look at his squint! He's so squinty! Every time I see a photo, I smile back until my cheeks hurt. Del is the human personification of a hug. Unlike other folks I've listed, Del's alive and touring (at the young age of 83). He's a vital living link to traditional bluegrass and earlier years of the genre.

Another scrunkly is Burkett Howard Graves, better known as Uncle Josh from Flatt & Scruggs, *THE* dobro player who developed the technique and inserted the instrument first in bluegrass, a fun comedian, and not sore on the eyes. ;)

Oh right, and literal tiny child Marty Stuart in Lester Flatt’s band is a GIFT.

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave) From Flatt & Scruggs: Dorris Paul Warren! There were tons of extraordinary early bluegrass fiddlers. But Paul does not get enough recognition and respect for being one of *THE* most-heard bluegrass fiddlers, member of the highest profile group (Flatt & Scruggs) for decades. Our relative lack of public biographical information is a travesty. A TRAVESTY I SAY!!!!

Also on this list: English Tullock Jr. (Cousin Jake) from Flatt & Scruggs, because badass bassists deserve more love; Rob McCoury, the banjo picker from the Del McCoury Band; and Wilma Lee Cooper, who has a BIG VOICE and dominated vocals in the early years when (what we now call) bluegrass was like 99.5% male.

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week) Gary Scruggs, eldest son of Earl Scruggs. He did not get the public love and attention that Earl's middle son, Randy, got. I am president of the Give Gary Appreciation Committee. Look, if you can't appreciate his sexy pose and sword, we can't be friends.

poor little meow meow (“problematic” / unpopular / controversial / otherwise pathetic fave) Jimmy Martin falls here, as does Carter Stanley of the Stanley Brothers. Both were well-recognized for lead singing, but made interesting life choices. Jimmy Martin was a CHARACTER, the type of obnoxious butthead you'd laugh at from a distance but hate irl. Carter unfortunately had drinking problems, but his social personality was endearing. I love his loyalty to baby brother and music partner Ralph through everything. Like, it's movie-worthy loyalty. THEY MADE A PLAY ABOUT HIM!!!

If we go out of bluegrass and mention traditional country, gotta shout "Hank Williams".

eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell) I... have conflicting thoughts about Louise Scruggs, manager of Flatt & Scruggs. On one hand, I respect her unparalleled business acumen that led the band to international fame. She's historic as the first woman in her field, too, for country music. But I also... she... there's... stories... of business decisions she made that I find cold. I also put her as largely responsible for why Flatt & Scruggs's music output diminished in quality during the 1960s and why Flatt & Scruggs broke up. So I guess her? Doesn't feel nice for me to say, though.

Oh. Oh wait. John Duffey from the Country Gentlemen / The Seldom Scene pings me wrong. I guess him. Multiple famous bluegrass blokes made comment about his pranks feeling "mean," him acting too arrogantly for his skill level, etc. Don't get me wrong, he was a remarkable tenor vocalist. But yeah. From what little I know of him.

blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most)

Probably Josh!! I love twewy for the plot and characters AND the worldbuilding and hoohoohoo Josh is literally the second most powerful being in the UG (with the first being Literal Angel Hanekoma). I'm fascinated by the implications of his position and his powers and how they tie him to the City and how he and Shibuya influence each other. How much does his mental state affect how well his City thrives? How is he affected in turn by his people? I'm also obsessed with I think fanon having him like. Literally Compose Music that makes up the City. That's the good stuff. And even without all that just look at him! He's just a little bastard but also there's so much depth there. He's implied to have killed himself to enter the UG. He nearly destroyed his City because he thought it was becoming too homogenous and stagnant (and also because he's implied to have been depressed and wanted to destroy himself, which, like, *gestures wildly at how the hell do the composer and the city affect each other*) but in the end changed his mind because he saw how Neku changed over the course of just three weeks, no longer the same boy he chose as his proxy because of a similar hostility towards the world, and in Neku changing he saw that he and his City too could change, and this one person whom he'd trusted to prove his point just went through so much personal growth that Josh had no choice but to concede that destruction wasn't the answer and have the faith to keep going. But also he is a little bastard.

Can I say both the Bito siblings? Rhyme is already the baby of the group and Beat is just really good. He's got the biggest heart I think! Even though he and Neku didn't get along that well at first, it was plain to see how much he cared about Rhyme and he got on great with Shiki! And unlike Neku who's going through a revolution in worldview, Beat's arc is learning to accept himself despite his own shortcomings. You're doing good, Beat. Also his and Rhyme's combined sprites in week 2 are super cute!!

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)

I'm not familiar with the community's general takes so I'll just say the Bito siblings again. I dunno man I just think they're neat 🥔 They have a really good dynamic with Beat's expressiveness and Rhyme's calmer nature, but at heart they're both pretty wise in their own ways? Also fascinated by the aftereffects of Rhyme's stint as a Noise.

KEN DOI, MISTER RAMEN DON HIMSELF. Like what was his parallel world self doing but also in general?? He's running a ramen shop and the special ingredient is love for the craft. I loved the ramen don side quest. I just think he is also neat 🥔

I'm stuck between Josh and Minamimoto, but I feel like Minamimoto is winning out solely for the meow meow pun. I can't really call either of them pathetic--after all, Josh took control of the city when he was 15, and Minamimoto is supposed to be the youngest reaper officer in history (since APPARENTLY reapers stay the same age they died I've always assumed they meant chronologically youngest because you Cannot tell me there isn't a kid running around the UG somewhere who's a reaper officer, so it took him the shortest amount of time to climb the ranks after his death in comparison to everyone else) and just a step behind Kitaniji--nor can I call them unpopular, but I feel like there's Definitely discourse somewhere and I just haven't seen it yet. Josh wanted to destroy his city and Minamimoto did shoot at a teenager. I've been in fandom long enough to know how this plays out. However! I think the most important thing about a poor little meow meow is that despite the discourse they're funny and Josh lives in a sewer and Minamimoto makes abstract art out of garbage and unironically yells math puns like a nerd (affectionate).

Alternatively: Uzuki. Did she kill a child? Yes. Was she a girlboss? Also yes (joking).

I liked that she was never put forth as "Nathaniel's Bitchy Girlfriend" she was just a sweet and understanding lady. She was probably too good for everyone on this show, actually. She deserved to be happy, I adore her.

poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): Greg, probably. He's not unpopular by any means, and as "problematic" goes he doesn't even make the top five characters on this show, but he's grumpy and sarcastic and avoids vulnerability way too often, and he's the one I most imagine patting on the head like a cat and saying, "Sssh, don't be sad I will make you some soup" to. If we're talking about Bona Fide Problematic™ characters, then Trent, lmao. I had an excellent time whenever he showed up. (He's also responsible for, "He's so normal; I'm in love" which is just. What a line.)

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): Probably Nathaniel. His best moments were when he was Having A Bad Time. (See: "I Go To The Zoo", one of the most iconic songs of all time.)

eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell): Silas, aka Rebecca's dad; he's the worst, honestly even superhell isn't bad enough. (Naomi barely escapes being in this spot, solely for attempting to take care of her daughter when she temporarily goes back home. She went about it in a HORRIBLE way, but it did at least help for a little bit, so I have to be grateful for that because I love Rebecca.)

2 weeks into 2021, and what have we here... I'm actually busy...

In fact, I am so busy I don't think I can go out and find a job or find a course to study.

I could barely find time to write this blog!

A few weeks ago I was having trouble being motivated to do anything, but I kept on keepin' on.... Now, because I never say no...

OK, that's as far as I got writing my blog on Thursday 14th in the evening...

Alex and mum were out of the house and I finally found time to write. I was going to write about how I was slowly becoming busy, motivated and focused... How much fun I found in recording/songwriting again, and how I was pick up the guitar again... I was kind of self motivating, self perpetuating... I was moving forward... I even said yes to playing a gig!

And then the girls came home...

My beautiful wife knows me very well. She's unstoppable with her care, love and support. There's no mountain high enough, no valley deep enough... Even though her autism often prohibits her from finding sarcasm in my sense of humor, she listens very well, and somehow she will read between the lines when things get serious.

She knew full well I was missing “My Daughter”. She knew that longing for fur companionship was strong with me. I not only missed Mijita, but I missed my 3 cats, Catalina, Mathilda and Gizmo.

When we left Germany I left my whole life behind. Pets, friends, family, music and memories... It hasn't been easy to come to terms with all of that. I know, I know, it was my choice, but that doesn't make it any easier, does it?? I have feelings you know...

So what did Alex go out and do?

She found “Mijo”, my son, a 9 week old Maine Coon x Ragdoll and brought him home to me, 2 weeks before my birthday.

Alex knew that I would never choose to get a new pet until our situation here settled. Until we had a routine that could fit in a puppy or a kitten. Mum already has an older female cat, and we all figured we'd wait and see how long Ruby will last, before jumping into pet ownership. Surely a dog would also be a little too much right now.

But Alex also knew I was missing being a fur Dad.

I was quite shocked, I could barely find the emotions to express my surprise. Dumbfounded!

Who, me? Lost for words? Oh yes!!!!

When that little grey bundle of joy was plopped on my chest (I had my eyes closed leaning back on a chair) I fell in love.

I made a promise to this little guy, that no matter what, I would never leave him... No matter what, he's sticking with Alex and I until... well... until the end... I couldn't bear another goodbye... It's funny how my mind went to that subject, but I do miss my pets back in Germany, and I don't want to ever feel that that again.

It's been almost week, and I haven't stopped being busy, but this time for other reasons... I did manage to play guitar a couple of times, and yes I've left Mijo home alone, I've gone to the shops or visited folks. But basically, when I'm home, I'm with him. Holding him, watching him, playing with him, training him and of course loving him.

We all know cats choose their parent, and while Alex chose him for me, in the end, this little boy only has eyes for me. He chose me to be his Fur-Daddy, and it shows. He loves to follow me around. He always sleeps by my side. He “meows” eyes for me.*

Alex supports me... She guides me to make choices that, deep down, I already know. She guides me to follow my feelings, by asking the right questions... In this case, she felt my true answer to the question of pet ownership, and took control of the situation, to bring happiness and joy to us all.

Honestly, I'm still in shock... It's one of the greatest gifts someone could give, the gift of joy.

Sure, I've had a few kitty litter accidents, the vet costs a bit, a few partly sleepless nights but when I'm not with him, I'm thinking of him.... He brings me all the joy, love and attention that one could want from a fur baby.

Thank you Mijo for choosing me. Thank you Alex (and mum) for making it happen. Thanks Ruby for tolerating a kitten in your Princess Castle.
