𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐋: 𝐌𝐀𝐗𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐃𝐔𝐁𝐎𝐈𝐒
| 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐄 › extras

Manila, Philippines — VoicePlay & Rachel Potter live performances
When VoicePlay and their buddy Rachel Potter released their "Moana medley" video in the summer of 2017, it went a bit viral and brought them a number of new fans, especially among young kids and their parents. A year later, one of those families invited the six singers to perform at their daughter's birthday party in Manila, with the added incentive of a public show for more of their Filipino fans. A trip to the other side of the world was an opportunity they weren't about to pass up. Even if it did require a full day of travel each way, everyone agreed that the experience was well worth it.

MTV Artist To Watch: twenty | one | pilots
Posted 1/28/13 6:00 am EST by Rachel Brodsky
Meet MTV's Artist To Watch, Twenty One Pilots.
Meet twenty | one | pilots: masters of the piano-back flip.
We have so many questions for Columbus' twenty | one | pilots. First, why the breaks in their name? Why all the masks? If they had to classify themselves as a single genre, what would it be? These are the first of many questions that surface regarding the multifaceted, multi-genred duo -- between drummer Josh Dun and lead singer Tyler Joseph, the pair manage to create a sound that is neither here, nor there, not rock and not pop, DEFINITELY kinda hip-hop, but also twenty | one tries at everything else on the spectrum. Feeling confused yet? Not to worry -- TOP's quirky brand of pop-meets-hip-hop-meets-rock-meets-hardcore may sound complex, but it only takes one live viewing to know that all those loose ends are immediately tightened up once TOP hit the stage.
Old friends from high school, the guys got their start by self-releasing two full-length albums and built a major Midwest following with a subsequent deluge of energetic shows (the guys have been known to backflip off pianos mid-show, and that certainly doesn't hurt visibility). Now signed to Fueled By Ramen (also home to Paramore!), TOP have since released a Three Songs EP and now a third full-length album, Vessel.
Produced by Greg Wells (who also worked with Adele), Vessel features punchy, hard-hitting, melodic ditties like "Holding On To You" and "Guns For Hands" (which you can download here!), tracks that channel Matt & Kim's cheer-punk attitude, the Beastie Boys' shouting hip-hop vocals, and Eminem's fast-talking nasal bark. You can even hear a little Ben Folds Five in TOP's piano-infused beats (before the vocals kick in, obvs), while Vessel's "Migraine" kicks off with a vocoded ELO vibe.
Now one of MTV's Artists To Watch for 2013, the rock-rap-tronica duo (See? We tried to classify them) recently performed at MTV's "Artist To Watch" showcase, where they rolled out a teeming set of pop-core anthems, onstage gymnastics, ‘90s R&B covers, and Blue Man-esque side-by-side drumming.
In addition to preparing to become the biggest band in the world, twenty | one | pilots are currently touring the U.S. through February -- catch them before they hit Japan and South Korea in March! There might even be some backflips in it for you.
+ Watch twenty | one | pilots perform "Car Radio" and "Guns For Hands" live at NYC's Highline Ballroom, and check out more of MTV's 2013 Artists To Watch.

elo dylan!! i hope you've had a great day so far!
i have a suggestion!! how about the crusaders with a healer reader/s/o that can only heal them when she hugs/cuddles them? aaaaaaaaaa i apologize if it's lame, i just think it's cute uou
Sure thing! 🤩 Sorry I couldn’t reply back, this is my side blog but I really appreciate you dropping by! I hope you’re having a great day/night too. ❤️
Crusaders w/ a reader who can heal through hugs
Noriaki
Kakyoin would be very surprised when you open up your arms for a hug.
“(Y/n)... are you sure?”
He’s never had much contact with anybody so you can bet the poor boy’s very tough-starved.
If you do it in front of the Crusaders, he’ll get kinda alot flustered but he’ll hug you back.
In private though, he’ll wrap himself around you in a warm embrace.
You be in his lap on the bed as he leans against the headboard.
I feel like he would get clingier the closer he is to you and the more tired he gets.
If you guys are together, kiss him—
Lots of thanks when he’s healed, maybe he’ll start asking for more hugs sometimes.
“Thank you for this, (y/n). I really appreciate it.”
Jotaro
“Yare yare daze”
Will give you the deadest look if you ask to hug him in public. No matter how beaten up he is, he refuses your help.
He might let you hug him when you’re back at the hotel, but nothing fancy, mind you.
You’ll just have his arm over your shoulder as he rests. You can snuggle into his side.
Use his pecs as a pillow, I mean have you seen how big they are—
He’ll just grumble and pull his hat down to cover his face and the blush
If you want real good cuddles, you can ask Star Platinum, he’ll hook you up.
Joseph
(Sorry I’m gonna try to have it remain platonic for his, he’s a grade A sweater grandpa)
Oh boy??? He loves it????
He’ll pick you up in his arms and swing you around, uncaring of his injuries. Watch his back tho
Even though you’re trying to heal him, Joseph’s hugs will be the death of you. He squeezes so hard.
I feel like Joseph’s hugs will give you such comfort though, and while you’re healing him physically, his hugs are mending you emotionally.
He’ll pat your back and thank you after you’re done.
Polnareff
“If you say so, mon chérie”
“Maybe we can get dinner next.”
So much flirting, this man can’t stop and won’t stop.
He just envelopes you with his massive arms. Be careful not to get smothered by his man-boobs, you have a job to do.
In private he’ll give you little kisses.
Make sure to kiss his booboos, otherwise this man-child with pout.
“Polnareff, you know that my hugs already heals you, right?”
“Yes, but your kisses makes me feel alive.”
Avdol
It’ll take a bit of convincing because he believes that the injuries are minor and unimportant.
Once he relents though, this man is so warm. Perfect for cold nights
Nice, gentle hugger, his coat/robe will cover you and it’s like being enveloped in a world of your own.
Sit on his lap, he’ll wrap said coat around you.
If the other Crusaders are there, you can sit by his side, and he’ll drape the free side of the coat over you so you don’t get cold.
A small peck on his cheek will make him flush.
Do it.

Michael Sheen, 39, was born in Newport. He studied at the National Youth Theatre of Wales, the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Rada. He left Rada early to appear opposite Vanessa Redgrave in the West End production of When She Danced. He has twice played Tony Blair: in Stephen Frears' 2003 television film The Deal and in Frears' 2006 movie The Queen. He will appear as David Frost in the film Frost/Nixon, which opens next month; he has also played him on stage in London and New York. Sheen has a daughter, Lily, with his ex-partner, the actor Kate Beckinsale. He is based in Los Angeles.
When were you happiest?
When I'm with my daughter.
What is your earliest memory?
When I first wrote my name.
Which living person do you most admire, and why?
Some anonymous Red Cross worker in a war-torn area no one will have heard of.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Not living up to what I believe.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Lazy thinking.
What is your most treasured possession?
My books.
Where would you like to live?
London: the greatest city in the world.
What would your super power be?
Shape-shifting.
What makes you depressed?
Not being creative.
What do you most dislike about your appearance?
I would like to be taller, thinner and more rakish looking.
Who would play you in the film of your life?
I would.
What is your most unappealing habit?
I am very impatient.
Cat or dog?
Dog. My tragedy is that all I want is a dog and yet I have been cursed with cats all my life.
What is your favourite smell?
My daughter when she's just come out of the bath.
What is your favourite word?
Discombobulated.
What is your favourite book?
The Hero With A Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell.
What is your fancy dress costume of choice?
Alex from A Clockwork Orange.
What is the worst job you've done?
Picking up litter from the side of a motorway at 6am, while it was freezing cold and pouring with rain. I was 17.
If you could go back in time, where would you go?
Elizabethan England: I would want to meet Shakespeare.
What is the worst thing anyone's said to you?
I've obviously totally repressed it and one day when I'm standing on the top of Tesco shooting at strangers with a rifle, I will suddenly be shouting it out.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Listening to music that is considered very uncool, such as ELO and Enya.
What do you owe your parents?
Everything, really. My dad is a Jack Nicholson lookalike and a frustrated performer, my mother's into reading and poetry. I suppose the thing I owe them most is my confidence.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, Laurence Olivier, Albert Einstein, Buster Keaton and Stephen Fry.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
I think I say 'wow' too much.
What has been your biggest disappointment?
Welsh rugby since the 70s.
When did you last cry, and why?
This sounds incredibly pretentious - last night reading Shadowplay by Clare Asquith, which is about the coded politics and hidden beliefs in Shakespeare's plays. I cried when I read about him finishing The Tempest and having to stop doing the thing he most loved in the world.
How do you relax?
Reading.
How often do you have sex?
As often as I can.
What is the closest you've come to death?
I had a near-death experience when I was 24. It's a very, very long story.
What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
Seeing my daughter more.
What song would you like played at your funeral?
The End by the Doors.
Where would you most like to be right now?
Nowhere other than where I am.
Tell us a secret
After today, I have no clean underwear left.

Michael Sheen Q&A (2008)
Source
Tell us a secret After today, I have no clean underwear left.

Pop artist Nadia Vaeh has dropped her new music video for her powerful track 'Anxiety'. The video reflects on her personal mental health struggles and how she copes with the highs and lows of anxiety. The video shows Nadia alone at home coping with what the real and raw effects of anxiety look and feel like. As an advocate, she hopes her music can inspire people to embrace the conversation of mental health and be a reminder that they are not alone.

Babeheaven, the project of West Londoners Nancy Andersen and Jamie Travis, share their latest single, 'Craziest Things', along with a video from the award-winning illustrator and animator, Sacha Beeley. The track is taken from the duo’s much anticipated debut album, Home For Now, which will be released on November 20 via AWAL, and follows the singles 'Cassette Beat' and 'Human Nature'. About the track, Nancy said: “On 'Craziest Things', I explore my anxiety and insomnia, not being able to make sense of my emotions and running around in a state of mania.”

Moscow-based multi-talented avant-pop artist Kate Shilonosova aka Kate NV has just unveiled a video for 'Lu Na', a track taken from her last album Room for the Moon. Drawing from “unlived memories of 70s and 80s Russian and Japanese pop music and film,” the project also comes with vintage and surreal conceptual videos inspired by the shows she was watching as a child. In these new Gina Onegina-directed visuals, she introduces four dancers voguing in pinky cats outfits. “‘Lu Na’ was originally planned as a dance clip consisting mostly of one repetitive loop—simple pattern where cats walk in a square one by one,” she stated. “This pattern was hugely inspired and based on [Samuel] Beckett’s piece Quad which I love. Originally I just wanted the sun to appear slowly behind those cats while they walk. All of the dancers were wonderful, they brought so much life to the characters of those cats!” [via High Clouds]

Kississippi, the increasingly pop-minded project of the Philadelphia musician Zoe Reynolds, have released a new single, 'Around Your Room'. Kississippi got their start making wispy and hypnotic folk reveries, which opened up into more muscular fare on their debut full-length, 2018’s Sunset Blush. 'Around Your Room' is their most unabashedly pop song yet, a strobing synth that pulls from Lorde’s Melodrama providing the main thrust for Reynolds’ gauzy lyrics about memory and its inexorable pull. Reynolds cowrote 'Around Your Room' with Sarah Tudzin of Illuminati Hotties, according to a tweet from Tudzin. “This song tells a story of yearning and infatuation. It’s about being hopelessly enamored in a way that took me back to my youthful perception of love,” Reynolds said in a statement. “It represents those moments where you’re fully infatuated with someone and they’re all you can think about. I’ve written about love in a cynical manner in the past and this song was written as a reminder of the magic and euphoria that comes with it.” 'Around Your Room' is the lead single from a new Kississippi album due out next year, Reynolds’ first for Triple Crown. Tank and The Bangas have announced a new EP called Friend Goals. Due out November 20 via Verve Forecast, the six-track, guest-heavy release is being previewed with the track 'Self Care'. The New Orleans-based group are known for their collaborative habits, having this year teamed with the likes of Jacob Collier and Fantastic Negrito. Friend Goals, as the title might suggest, brings together a number of artists Tank and The Bangas have befriended over their career. The follow-up to last year’s Green Balloon LP features guests like CHIKA ('Mr. Insta'), Duckwrth ('Fluff'), PJ Morton ('TSA'), and Pell on the title track. Lead single 'Self Care' actually touts three collaborators: Jaime Woods, Orleans Big, and Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph. The track itself is exactly what we need in 2020, an ode to being with yourself and being damn okay with it. “Chillin’ all by myself/ Netflix, eatin’, cheatin’, by myself, all by myself,” Tarriona “Tank” Ball spits, clearly enjoying her alone time. “Nobody else/ New people to the left/ What is there left but myself?” “‘Self Care’ is THE quarantine song to get you moving,” Ball said in a statement. “It shows that some of the best things can come out from solitude, especially when the beat hits this hard.” Take a listen above via the song’s Fat Happy Media-directed video. New Zealand’s platinum sensation BENEE unveils the official video for her latest single 'Snail'. For the visual, BENEE and director Anita Fontaine deliver a lush and larger-than-life fantasy befitting of the track. In the colorful clip, BENEE wakes up to feed her giant snail roommates and slides around their slime trails before heading to work in her secret elf lab. Soon, she’s cycling out of her home—a concrete replica of her own head—out into a storm. After being struck by lightning, our heroine turns into an elf and cruises through a mushroom wonderland under the glow of an aurora borealis-style blanket of colors across the sky. Reflective of her personality, it pops off as her biggest and boldest video to date. Of the inspiration behind the video, BENEE says, “I knew I wanted the vid to be a weird fantasy story involving snails! I said to Anita that I wanted to be an elf with long braids riding a bike and have giant mushrooms somewhere in the vid...She came back with the treatment, and I loved ittttttt! Her imagination is supa whacky in the best way, and I’m so happy with how ‘Snail’ turned out!”

Bebe Rexha has returned with her new anthem 'Baby, I'm Jealous', which features Doja Cat. 'Baby, I'm Jealous' is Bebe Rexha's first single of 2020, following on from last year's Maleficent: Mistress of Evil track 'You Can't Stop The Girl'. The new track marks the debut collaboration between Bebe Rexha and Doja Cat, and is accompanied by a Hannah Lux Davis-directed visual that stars Charli D’Amelio, Nikita Dragun, and Avani Gregg. Bebe Rexha says the new single is "about embracing my insecurities", and adds, "It’s about the way social media has heightened my jealousy which can affect how I feel about myself. We are constantly flooded with the highlights of other people’s lives, and at times I find myself comparing my worth and beauty to others. It’s part of the human process to experience jealousy - ultimately, this is an anthem to embrace those feelings as a form of empowerment." [via Line Of Best Fit]

Making her grand return to the scene with a striking new single is Brighton-hailed singer Fable, with her new tune 'Thirsty'. With otherworldly tones and harmonising vocals, the singer serves us with a sumptuous genre-bending tune that has us headbanging at every chorus. Known for her bold and atmospheric sonics, the singer accompanies the song with an attention-grabbing video with juxtaposing images of ethereal nature and mental destruction. Speaking on the single, the singer said, “'Thirsty' is about taking the beauty of life for granted. How overtime we write off profound stuff as mundane because it’s a constant; the sky’s always there, but it’s weird and beautiful that we even exist under it. It’s playful at heart but it’s about my realised depression and learning how to reset my perspective through mindfulness,” Having disappeared from the scene back in 2016 due to a personal tragedy, the singer has reconnected to her artistic side and is ready to step back into the spotlight. With the enticing line-up of Joe Lonie (Supergroove), Milan Borich (Pluto), Jol Mulholland (The Reduction Agents) and Morgan Leary (Cindy), Tāmaki Makaurau supergroup Kathy Bates Motel share their latest ear worm 'Cool Your Heels'. The class act's second single, following up debut track 'Damaged Goods', is dangerously catchy, with killer harmonies from vocalists Lonie and Leary. 'Cool Your Heels' will have you moving your feet and hankering for a dance, a need so perfectly met by the Footloose inspired, Joe Lonie directed visuals. Everybody cut foot loose, the weekend and 'Cool Your Heels' have arrived. [via Under The Radar]

Up-and-comers Wargasm recently dropped their fifth single, ‘Backyard Bastards’, and now they’ve released a video to go with it. Shot and edited by Olli Appleyard, the video sees sees Sam Matlock (guitar, vocals) hunting down Ryan Cornall (session drummer) on a manic murder spree that finds its peak in an epic showdown between the two, all the while being cheered on by Milkie Way (bass, vocals) and her dancer squad. You can check out the video for ‘Backyard Bastards’ above. [via Dead Press]

Atlanta-based glam punk rockers Starbenders have released an energetic and evocative music video for their new single 'Can’t Cheat Time' off most recent album Love Potions. 'Can’t Cheat Time' is available now as part of a bundle featuring the original single and an acoustic version. 'Can’t Cheat Time' perfectly pairs frontwoman Kimi Shelter‘s incredible vocal shapeshifting abilities with electrocuted guitars and heart-pounding rhythm for this stand out rock ‘n’ roll anthem. Speaking to the inspiration for the single’s music video, Shelter adds: “‘Can’t Cheat Time’ is a personal favorite amongst the band. This single has a wicked string arrangement reminiscent of Jeff Lynne from ELO’s production style. It was so rewarding hearing all of it come together with the live string players. The accompanying music video is a love letter to the mom and pop businesses that have shaped and supported our very existence. These businesses along with the touring industry have been devastated by the pandemic. We filmed in locations around Atlanta which include the local greasy spoon diner, the record shop, the independent guitar store, the watering hole, and the divey small music venue. While mega-retailers did not close down for even one day, 60% of small to medium-sized businesses in the USA that closed will never reopen. These places are vital to the social and economic health of our cities. We encourage our friends to go to saveourstages.com. Sign up to push legislators to help independent venues though the updated Heroes Act. So many are hurting and on the verge of financial ruin from lighting to sound engineers, musicians, DJs, security, bar staff and venue operators. Our hearts are with you all.“ [via The Girls At The Rock Show]

Jackpot, NV — VoicePlay live performances
Vegas tends to get the most attention in Nevada, but in April 2019, the kind gentlemen of VoicePlay graced the northern part of the state (and southern Idaho) with their vocal talents. They spent two nights at Cactus Petes entertaining the good folks of the area. They had such a good time that J and Earl even had drinks with some new fans after their second show.
There aren't any publicly available videos of full songs, but these one-minute clips will at least give you a taste of the fun. Most of them were originally posted to an audience member's Instagram.
.
youtube
This covers from the first chorus through the second, with a verse and a short breakdown in between.
Details:
title: Any Way You Want It
original performers: Journey
written by: Steve Perry & Neal Schon
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
performance date: 27 April 2019
My favorite bits:
the extra reverb on the on the echoed lyrics (Good job, Paul.)
their laid back approach to the choreography
Layne's crisp snare hits 🥁
the little switcheroo J.None, Eli, and Earl do at center stage
Geoff's smooth octave drop
Trivia:
This show was just a few weeks after they'd released their music video for the song.
.
youtube
This spans from the end of the second verse through the "Blue Skies" excerpt, which includes their the clapping-on-the-beat tutorial.
Details:
title: Mr. Blue Sky
original songs / performers: "Mr. Blue Sky" by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO); "Blue Skies" by Ben Selvin & Charles Kaley (as The Knickerbockers)
written by: "Mr. Blue Sky" by Jeff Lynne; "Blue Skies" by Irving Berlin
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
performance date: 27 April 2019
My favorite bits:
the arm-ography that Eli and J instinctively did in their music video
that little slide toward the front of the stage
aaand everybody rotate
"so far you've been helping us… not so much" 😬
J.None's lovely timbre on the "Blue Skies" lead
Trivia:
The guys had been performing this song for a couple years, but they'd only released a video for it two months earlier.
.
youtube
Although it started out as an entry in their PartWork series, this song quickly became a staple in their concerts and student workshops.
Details:
title: Ride
original performers: Twenty One Pilots
written by: Tyler Joseph
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
performance date: 27 April 2019
My favorite bits:
Layne's drum fill leading into the chorus
rapid-fire three-part harmony, phew
the onscreen lyrics including the trademark TOP "Ø"
the start of Geoff's hopscotching descent into the basement
Trivia:
In their music video, the tenor 1, tenor 2, and baritone parts were all recorded by Eli. Those vocals were, of course, allocated as usual for live performances.
.
youtube
This piece is, of course, best seen in full, but we'll take what we can get. In this instance, it's the the first verse and chorus, which is enough to get the melodrama started.
Details:
title: Elvira
original performers: The Oak Ridge Boys
written by: Dallas Frazier
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
performance date: 27 April 2019
My favorite bits:
the little gospel-esque hand gesture from Eli, J, and Earl on ♫ "heaven" ♫
Geoff's slide down in the middle of ♫ "shiii-iiine" ♫
everything else cutting out to highlight that bassy ♫ "miiine" ♫
the gallop that Eli and J do for the last ♫ "giddy-up" ♫
Earl belting his face off on the end of the chorus
Trivia:
This song / skit was a fan favorite at VoicePlay concerts for many years. They've never filmed a video for it, but there is an audio version exclusively available to their Patreon patrons.
Their pals in Home Free were so impressed by this arrangement that they asked to use it as the basis for their own version with The Oak Ridge Boys themselves in 2015.
.
youtube
The arrangement of this medley is so rapid-fire that a one-minute clip containing the first third of it still packs in a fair number of songs, not to mention plenty of VoicePlay's trademark silliness.
Details:
title: A Crimpella
original songs / performers: "Walk the Dinosaur" by Was (Not Was); "Witch Doctor" by Alvin & the Chipmunks; "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; "We Go Together" from Grease!; "Motownphilly" by Boyz II Men; "Imma Be" by the Black Eyed Peas; "Tutti Frutti" by Little Richard; "Shoop" by Salt N Pepa; "Jock-A-Mo" (aka "Iko Iko") by James "Sugar Boy" Crawford

arranged by: VoicePlay
performance date: 27 April 2019
My favorite bits:
J.None really feeling the beat in "Walk the Dinosaur" and "Imma Be" 🕺
Eli's little yelp as he's launched into the air
the flyby gag, never not funny
those lush harmonies on the iconic "Motown Philly" bell chords
Earl turning to watch J getting down as though to say "Dude, pull it back a bit."
Trivia:
The studio video for this medley was the second one ever uploaded to their YouTube channel after they adopted the VoicePlay name.
.
youtube
Everyone loves a good villain song, and this countdown provides a few of Disney's best. This videographer was clearly sitting closer to the stage and, by extension, the speakers.
Details:

performance date: 27 April 2019
My favorite bits:
J.None's silky timbre as Facilier
the rhythm section making the camera shake
that little finger wiggle as Eli and J sing their ♫ "sha-la-la" ♫ harmonies
Earl's suspicious expression during "Trust In Me" 🐍
all of Geoff's smooth glissandos, and that subharmonic drop
Layne putting in a much cattier (pun intended) "mreow" instead of the high-pitched "mew" he did in the studio version 😼
Trivia:
This was yet another recent addition to their music video catalog, and one that spawned several more full-length versions in the following years.
.
This legendary rock song has been part of their repertoire for decades, and they love to dust it off from time to time.

original performers: Big Mama Thornton (1952); based on the version popularized by Elvis Presley (1956)

Geoff enjoying his repeated descending bass line
J.None and Earl having fun with the dog breed scatting
Trivia:
The guys first recorded this song in their 4:2:Five days. It's the fifth track on their 2004 album "Time Machine", which they recorded during a 6-month stint as part of the entertainment on a cruise ship.
