Flash Gordon was released on December 5, 1980. While the opening scenes modernized Flash Gordon (Sam J Jones) to 1980 and changed him from a polo player to a football player, once he and Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) met with scientist and inventor Dr Hans Zarkov (Topol), the costumes, sets, props, and characters took on the look of the Alex Raymond comic strip from the mid 1930's to the early 1940's. As with the comic strip, Flash, Dale, and Zarkov left our world to go to space to confront the man who was threatening the Earth, Ming the Merciless (Max von Sydow). Aiding the earthlings, were Prince Barin (Timothy Dalton) and Prince Vultan (Brian Blessed). Ming also had his own alies in his daughter Princess Aura (Ornella Muti), and evil henchmen Klytus (Peter Wyngarde) and General Kala (Mariangela Melato). The movie was famous for the powerful score and soundtrack by the rock band Queen. ("Flash Gordon", Film, Event)

"Please order me, what the locals like to drink!" Margaret asked enthusiastically, expecting Nectar of some sorts.

Margaret took a sip of the yellow beverage placed in front of her and her face scrunched up from the bitterness.

Robert watched and laughed, "Have you never tried beer before?". Margaret placed her hand over her face "No of course not, what sort of lady do you think drinks this, actually how could anyone drink this!?"

"Okay let's get some fresh air" Robert said after finishing his drink. He then took Margaret's hand and took her outside leading her to a pond.

"Maggie, I've fallen in love with you ever since I set eyes on you. I know you are quite literally my sister's best friend but I feel like we have such a great time together, so much so I would like to spend the rest of my life with you, if you'll let me" Robert gushed, while getting down on one knee.

Margaret gasped and quickly said "Of course I'll marry you Robert!".

Robert sighed a breath of relief, getting up and embracing Margaret. "I'd even own a ranch with you here, as long as I can keep my painting", Margaret giggled.

Robert smiled at the news and kissed his new fiancee.

Meanwhile, John slipped away from the bar and met up with Elsi.

"My love, I'm so happy to see you". Elsi said, planting a kiss on John's cheek. "Likewise" John returned.

The two then sat down and started chatting.

"It's so hard being apart from you, I know in my feelings that I have nothing but love for you Elsi. I would really love to live here and be closer to you", Robert voiced.

"How would this be possible?" Elsi asked. "We have to keep this relationship a secret, we can't be fully open, you know other people would find this wrong".

John got up and took Elsi's hand. "My brother is looking like he wants to move here and is ready to be married soon, I could tag along with them". John then continued "I promise I will always be yours, we will have the rest of our lives together".

"Is this a proposal?" Elsi asked. "Perhaps", John replied.

"Then I would really love for that to happen."

Song Review: Gov’t Mule feat. John Osborne & Rob Barraco - “Blue Sky” (Live, Dec. 10, 2022)

Anyone who cuts into Gov’t Mule’s Dec. 10, 2022, version of “Blue Sky” during the instrumental interlude might think the band was jamming on “Listen to the Music.”

But this is, in fact, the Allman Brothers Band song as captured on pro-shot video at the Warren Haynes-curated Dec. 10, 2022, Christmas Jam in North Carolina with Mule joined by guitarist John Osborne and keyboardist Rob Barraco.

Osborne and Haynes lock in for some serious ABB twin-guitar workouts, yet this version has a flavor all its own owing to the guests and Haynes’ hoarseness, the first signs of the influenza and COVID-19 that would soon put him in the hospital and ruin the Mule’s year-end plans.

Interesting. Not definitive. And though it couldn’t be definitive without Dickey Betts, Haynes did play some killer versions in the post-Betts Allmans.
