Hi there!
Thank you for all your dedication to reading. 💖💖🙏 If you allow me to ask once again, I'd like to going back a little further in time just to understand a bit...
Considering that they both initially weren't big fans of this friendship between our little doves, but soon accepted the reality of their obvious "friendship"... What did Aunt Mimi and Father Jim think about them? Did they just not like their relationship because of the rock n' roll rebellion or was there an additional fear, if you know what I mean? 🌚
Thank again =D
Awwww thank you for trusting me these questions! Also, sorry for taking so much time, but I’ve been stuck in a very interesting (and tiring!) project.
So, to answer the questions I divided them in two.
This is for entertainment purposes only.

What did Mimi think about John and Paul?
Tumblr media
I think at the beginning, Mimi thought about having a lot of patience with them. She didn’t like what she saw, but tried her best to remain calm. I think it all suddenly changed, and when she saw Paul, she thought that he was fake as fuck 🤣😭. I think for her, Paul was someone that was near John just because of his status (how popular he was and how much money he had) and John wasn’t aware of that at all. She also thought that John was losing himself in this relationship, also “losing” in the sense that Paul was actually a social climber. So the truth was that for her it was mostly about class. How it was even possible that they were friends? They were doing all kinds of stupid shit 🤣, how it was even possible?! I think it had to pass some time until she saw how they actually started something very beautiful (for me, this is about the band). Was it something that she liked? No. She obviously also realised how much money they were doing together. So that “soften up” her view into the relationship. She in this part in the timeline could see how the things were very different, how they weren’t just the stupid children doing stupid stuff, they now were evolved, John had clearly lots of affection for Paul and Paul had lots of affection for John. They seemed good together.
I think Mimi suspected of something going on but she never wanted to believe it. It was like it was there and it wasn’t. So I think she rejected them more in the beginning because it was a class thing.
What did Jim think about John and Paul?
Tumblr media
I think Jim since the beginning acted very tough with them, but it was because this relationship was something that he thought was doomed from the start. It was like suddenly Paul was very happy, like out of nowhere. So that was very suspicious.
But Jim saw how they were actually very lovely, it was like he tried very hard to choose his words and actions because of that. They were so tender with each other. But there was an issue that he couldn’t ignore and it was money matters. He knew that because of that, this relationship wasn’t going to last. So he actually thought that was doing the right thing when he tried to persuade Paul to get out of there. He really thought it was for the best. I think it was very hard for him when Paul actually chose to do other things, when he purposely chose to be around John, it was like he felt he was a failure as a parent. It was like he couldn’t stand knowing that Paul was doing all those kind of things (rocking, partying, drinking, etc), how he was obtaining money. What was Paul actually doing? I think he could see how strong the partnership was, but was kind of resentful. Everything that he worked for turned into THAT.
I asked if he suspected that something more happened and I think he did. What the cards are showing me is disappointment. It is the feeling of “what did I do wrong for this to happen?”. Very interesting energy.

The Psychology of Paul McCartney in Quotes
I think I'll go ahead and post these as they are and invite people to please send in quotes that you think might add something to these because I know they're definitely not complete! Or if you have other Paul Issues TM that you think I should do a compilation on let me know!
As it stands, the docs have the quotes organized chronologically so they tell a story. Some quotes made it into more than one doc because there is a lot of overlap, but I tried to keep it as organized as possible. I think it's pretty head-spinning reading some of these things in the order that they are. It makes him make more sense to me.

Wearing each others shirts
I never thought I'd find one of Marc Bolan, but of course he's wearing Chuck Berry!
Sid Vicious at 16 in a Bowie shirt is priceless

I'm halfway through Midas Man and I have to say one of my favorite things so far is the way they have shown George Martin's affinity for Paul - the way he zeros in on Paul's voice while listening to the band's recording calling it 'quite sweet' (while having no comment for the others specifically) and of course the scene in the studio, where he has critiques for everyone except Paul, I found it quite funny!
Aahhh I know!!!
The bond between George Martin and Paul is genuinely so important to Paul's development as a person and an artist, and therefore to the development of popular music as a whole. Paul desperately needed an authority figure to see him as talented, intelligent, and important. (John saw those things in him thank goodness, and that is infinitely valuable as well, but it's different coming from a central daddy figure) It seems to me, for all Jim's enthusiasm for Paul's musical pursuits as something fun that would get him into parties and make the family some money, he didn't seem to see Paul himself as particularly gifted. Then, Brian in the beginning seemed to favor John, seeing and marketing John as the intelligent, literary, witty, smart Beatle, and showing through his investments of time and money into John that he thought he was more special than the others. (Not that I'm not happy for John to have that love, he desperately needed it too) But I mean George Martin is in almost all of my Paul documents. He had a very big impact.
So it was vital that Paul had someone in his corner who could see his gifts, both as a musician/vocalist and as a creative force through writing and producing, who showed Paul he could trust him and opened so many possibilities to him. George Martin not only heard the strings on Yesterday, but knew how to coax Paul out of his box enough to really try them and valued Paul's composition abilities enough to teach him how to write for strings. And that was just their first major collaboration.
Throughout at least two decades of work, George Martin gave Paul the opportunities and the expertise and the safety to push the boundaries of how much artistic freedom a working class boy could exercise and what he could expand popular music to be.
Sorry to go off on a soapy tangent there but this is such an underrated relationship in this fandom and I'm just really glad you gave me the excuse to talk about it!
But yes. I was soooo happy to see him getting to be George's instant special baby. You're completely right. In the movie, he's basically like "why would I give these guys a chance? This isn't what I even do. Well, one of them has a very sweet voice. Okay I'll give them a shot." And then in the studio he's very obviously got a favorite on day one. I'm About to make another irresponsible statement here but isn't it true that George Martin at one point very early on suggested to Brian that they make Paul the frontman?
Anyway! Thank you very very much for thinking of me and sending this in!
