hi mezelean marriage tradition dictates that the couple weaves each other necklaces from young branches of the mother tree that she only allows you to have if she approves of your marriage (as in, she somehow makes the branches fall off on their own because. magic religeon tree). mezelean culture strongly values craftsmanship and so making your future spouse a piece of jewellery they're expected to wear near constantly (similar to a wedding ring) is like the ultimate sign of devotion. depending on the people engagement can last anywhere from days to years, since [traditionally] it begins when the mother tree gifts them the branches and ends when the people getting married have both/all (realised in making this post i dont have to make monogamy the norm, W) completed their necklaces. this is when the ceremony takes place. i havent gotten a lot about the ceremony down yet but i know it involves a lot of dancing, very upbeat and fast paced fun dancing.

Joel and Lizzie had three ceremonies, a traditional ocean empire wedding, a traditional mezelean wedding, and a more 'standard' wedding, yk the type most widely known across servers ig. that one was for all the rulers to attend and probably also paparazzi. much more of an official affair than the other two that are much more about their cultures and celebration

Remember when Grian building a shrine to Mumbo to bring him back sent everyone into a frenzy? We now have Hermits building statues of each other and ACKNOWLEDGING IT. Joel has turned Hermitcraft from an SMP into a rom-com. This MARRIED MAN has rolled a critical success to seduce basically every server member, all while having a monument to his wife in his base!!!! insane

Because- guys. Etho is a kitsune right? RIGHT???? Like we all draw him like a fox and I wanted to draw him more like a kitsune bc of the boat boys thing and they're aesthetics were both leaning in that direction, esp. joel.

And then. And then Joel's stupid Toori gate and...and those are like entrances to shrines, and they're like gate ways to the 'spirit world/divine world' kinda thing?? Like they're portals and gateways and those kinds of things.

and in my head I was thinking of this stupid little AU like "Oh kitsune Etho keeps inviting himself over bc Joel put a toori gate basically welcoming in the 'spirit' world haha" And Ive just been sitting on that idea for like weeks now

So Joel just built a statue of Lizzie as the Ocean Queen in his shrine on hermitcraft.

Skizz: Don't be further than 10 blocks from GeminiTay for 10 minutes. One attempt only

Jimmy: Break 5 crafting tables while they're being used

Mumbo: Make a pun at every opportunity in a 5 minute conversation, minimum of 3 successful puns

Pearl: Get 3 players to gift you their heart

Joel: Plug the life merch in the worst possible times to other players at least 4 times

Tango: Get Scar to take about Star Wars for over 60 seconds

Cleo: Build your base directly above anouther players above the ground

Everyone was successful or well you know unless you count scars as a failure
