J. K. Rowling vs David Tennant: where is the truth and where the lies?

Probably everyone have read something about an unpopular opinion posted by J. K. Rowling on Twitter (cough, I mean X), where she decided to go after David Tennant. She claimed that during an interview Tennant was talking about whinging f**kers who need to just shut up. These whinging f**kers who he is referring to are women who’s rights are being oppressed, according to J. K. Rowling.

Unfortunately, Tennant didn't say anything against oppressed and abused women. Actually, Rowling is *again* pursuing her personal crusade claiming female-only = no trans-women. Tennant, after accepting an award, took the microphone and gave a speech about the state of LGBTQ+ rights in the UK, and the sad need for awards like the one he received (he was honored at the British LGBT Awards with Celebrity Ally award).

During the speech, Tennant also targeted UK Minister for Women and Equalities, Kemi Badenoch, who had previously said she would exclude trans-women from single-sex areas. Tennant said:

“I suppose if I’m honest I’m a little depressed by the fact that acknowledging that everyone has the right to be who they want to be and live their life how they want to live it as long as they’re not hurting anyone else should merit any kind of special or award or special mention because it’s common sense, isn’t it?” Tennant said in his speech. “It’s human decency. We shouldn’t live in a world where that is worth remarking on. However until we wake up and Kemi Badenoch doesn’t exist anymore — I don’t wish ill of her, I just wish her to shut up — whilst we do live in this world I am honoured to receive this.”

Tennant’s speech started a war of words with Badenoch, who later took to social media to say she would not shut up as the actor suggested. She went on to call Tennant “a rich, lefty, white male celebrity so blinded by ideology he can’t see the optics of attacking the only Black woman in government by calling publicly for my existence to end.”

Which, again, is a... Ehm... Lie, since Tennant didn't attack Minister Badenoch for her ethnicity or threatened her life. Tennant speech was critical of her position regarding trans rights and not her personal life. Tennant was calling out government bigots for their political opinions regarding social issues and not attacking anyone on personal basis and NEVER - NEVER said anything about institutional racism (which Minister Badenoch herself claimed it's not a problem in UK) and violence against women (both cis and trans) not being major problems.

In a separate red carpet interview on the awards ceremony, Tennant was asked to say something to the trans youth. He responded to don't feel judged or unloved, because transphobic politicians are just a little minority: “It's a tiny bunch of little whinging f**kers who are on the wrong side of history, and they’ll all go away soon.”

As always, J. K. Rowling and conservative politicians are strumentalizing LGBTQ+ awareness contents to make the community and it's allies look like evil terrorists (“gender Taliban”) and therefore pursuing their anti-trans goals while also belittling abuse perpetrated on women in religious states and systemic racism. Since violence against women is overwhelmingly committed by cisgender men, why are the Tories blaming LGBTQ+ community and it's allies?

J. K. Rowling and Minister Badenoch demonstrated through their words, how danger narratives can be invoked not only to obscure (hetero) cis men’s violence and abuse against cis and trans women, but also justify violence against the whole LGBTQ + community in the holy name of (cis-hetero) women's safety. TL;DR TERFs are delusional & Neil Gaiman and JK Rowling have both committed wrongs and neither is facing harsher or lesser criticism than the other, the criticisms are simply different.

Seeing people compare JKR being a TERF to Neil Gaiman’s sexual assault allegations is so weird to me. Don’t get me wrong, both need to be held accountable for their actions, but the reaching that TERFs are doing in comments/reblogs are insane.

The most common sentiment is that “everyone is giving Gaiman a free pass because he’s a man but JKR isn’t allowed her opinions???” And this is wrong on many levels. I haven’t seen anyone “give him a pass” - some people questioned the source of the allegations because of the podcast it was leaked on and the anonymity of the victim. Both of these were pretty quickly dropped. Some people have said that they simply intend to wait for the NZ police case to be closed. Others still are adopting the “separate the art from the artist” motto (much like people did for JKR). I have not seen a single person say “I am unbothered by these allegations.”

Let’s not forget, these allegations have been out for only a month or so - JKR has openly been a TERF since 2019 so of course people talk about her more; we’ve had more time. Additionally, JKR herself continuously adds fuel to the fire.

Another insistence of TERFs is that “Gaiman had actual victims, unlike JKR”. This simply isn’t true; they BOTH have victimized people. JKR has victimized and continues to victimize trans people and cis people alike. Look at Imane Khelif! She continues to launch cyber bullying attacks against trans women and cis women who disagree with her and, when she is called out, cries “misogyny.”

Both Gaiman and JKR have done irreversible harm to other people. Both of them are having their works boycotted by previous fans. Both of them are being called out for their wrongs.

In which the marauders and their girls are on summer holiday in South of France and Remus realises he wants you.

Warnings: fluff (maybe smut, we’ll see); not proofread!!

Remus had no idea when he agreed to go to the Potter’s summer house in south of France that the summer holidays would go like this. He thought it would be just the four of them boys in a little house. But he did underestimate the Potters wealth a bit.

The taxi stopped in front of the iron gates of a three-story house. The path to the front door was lined by pine trees. Remus could hear some repetitive melody coming from the trees. He attributed that to some kind of grasshopper. The scorching sun, although filtered by the branches, was making the boy’s head ache and sweat. And the noise from what he had gathered to be a cigale was worsening it. Still, he was pleased to discover the house with its walls made of put-together stone, its shutters needing fresh paint, and the small fountain beside the floral arrangement that would go all around the building. James had pushed its faucet to bathe his head in cold water, but Remus was focused on something else now. He had seen someone in the window. Someone he didn’t know would be here.

The door opened in a hurry, and all he could think was, when did he miss that information?

“We were starting to worry, what took you so long?”

“James had forgotten his pacifier, that’s what took us so long. You know how he is when he doesn’t have it.” Sirius climbed the stairs, his sunglasses in his hair and his bag on the shoulder. “Insufferable!” He muttered loud enough for the four girls to hear.

Remus combed his fingers through his hair and took a long breath before opening his mouth

“Well! Hello-”

“What are you doing here? I thought it was just us four!” Peter asked joining Sirius and the others inside.

You stayed in the corner of the door looking at the two boys left.

“Had a nice trip?”

Remus nodded. You looked ethereal in your blue and white sundress, your hair braided together.

“And you? You didn’t wait too long? Lils is not mad right?”

“Don’t start, Prongs.” Remus lifted his luggage. “I like the dress”

“You’ll get burned if you don’t put sunscreen on, Potter.”

“It’s alright, Evans. He’s a big guy.”

“I have some sunscreen if you'd like.”

James shook his head no, not glancing at them, his arm covering his eyes to cover himself. He had decided he was done with Lily Evans. Too much running around, not enough results, he said. And, too busy becoming a better guy, he was not seeing how Lily’s attention toward him had changed. That’s what everyone understood, though.

Remus’s gaze turned from his three friends to the girl getting in the water. You chuckled a bit listening to Lily’s attempt at catching James attention.

“Not too cold?”

You immersed yourself fully in the pool and let yourself float around.

“It’s parfait!”

Remus smiled at your French pronunciation. You and Sirius had been going around throwing random French words in conversation since the first day of the holidays.

“Is it? Should I join you?” You shook your head.

“Don’t ruin it. It feels good like this.” You hummed plunging your head underneath the surface.

Remus looked at how your body moved expertly under the water. The way your hair floated above your shoulders and how sunshine seemed to rain on your back as you swam. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from you. Away from your legs moving so delicately under the water like a dance he did not know of.

He watched you like this the whole time you were enjoying the nice and cool pool in the back garden of the house. He was sitting on a lounging chair in the shadow of a pine tree. He had kept his shirt on despite the warm weather, too embarrassed to show his scarred body. Remus’s face was already reddened by the sun, and some freckles had started to appear on his nose and cheeks. You had found them quite adorable on him. It betrayed his soft personality that you loved so much.

You had been in love with Remus for two years now. Stealing glances at him when you could, but keeping your feelings for yourself. You were worried you might ruin your bond and your friend group dynamic. As if getting serious with Remus would stop you from enjoying time with the others. Particularly if Remus were to reject you. You couldn’t even think of how your friendship would go after that without being embarrassed to death. Still, from time to time, when you were brave enough, you would attempt to flirt with Remus. Just to see if you had a chance, or if he really was too good for you. You were wondering at that moment, fully aware of the attention on your body, if you could say something to him. Your face was red just at the thought of it.

“My eyes are higher, Rem.” You managed to say without stuttering too much. You had swum to him and were now looking up at him through your lashes.

Remus was speechless. You looked so innocent, so beautiful at that moment. He wanted to take a picture of you, just to keep you in his wallet, and maybe, just maybe, sometimes say to strangers, “That’s my girlfriend, isn’t she beautiful?” He dreamed of that, of saying you were his.

Remus Lupin Caregiver Headcanons

Notes: COMPLETELY SFW! I tried to leave it open whether this is young/student Remus Lupin or older/Professor Remus. Also, I do not support or endorse any of the discriminatory views of JKR Hope you enjoy, and feedback is welcome!

Would be so understanding and perhaps even knowledgeable about age regression, right off the bat.

Because it’s a trauma response, and this man has seen far too much, he might already be familiar with it.  And if not, he’s quick to understand and offers to help you in any way he can.

Remus already knows what it’s like to be alone, and he’ll be damned if he lets you feel the same way.

The vibes=candles, baby mobile, fluffy blankets, books, sweaters, hugs, small stuffed animals…

(He is so Caregiver, ok?)

Nicknames include cub, dear, love, darling, etc.

Makes the BEST angel milk, tea, and hot chocolate.  Literal perfection.

Thanks to magic, Lupin can have any comfort item, snack, or toy in your hands at a moment’s notice.  And he has all your favorites memorized!

He can read you like an open book.  He knows when you’re sad, when you’re slipping into Little Space, when you’re hiding a secret, etc.  and he’ll respond accordingly to get you back on your feet.

If you happen to have a disability, chronic illness, etc—Remus is perfect.  He knows all about it; the best ways to manage pain, what activities to do while tired or bed bound, etc.

Storytime is one of his favorite things to do together

His voice is so comforting and loving

He lets you sit on his lap or cuddled up to his side, usually on his couch or rocking chair

Drawing is another frequent activity.  If he has work to do, then it can easily keep you occupied and quiet but nearby.

He keeps EVERYTHING.

Every drawing, craft, note, etc.  He flips through them if he’s having a bad day

You guys go to the park or on walks sometimes too!

So great to talk to.  He always makes sure that you’re feelings and thoughts are heard and understood

Understands baby talk like it’s his first language

The soft and small affections.  Patting your head as he passes, squeezing your hand when you’re nervous, the quick kiss on the forehead…

That being said, he will absolutely hold you tight if you’re upset or just need some extra love.

Very reassuring as well

If you/both of you are having a rough day, the two of you will just lay in bed quietly.  Cuddles galore, head rubs, etc.

Is available 24/7. You could wake him up at three a.m. and he’d still be happy to caregive.

Fairly strict on rules.  Especially bedtime and safety related issues.

Also likes to keep a schedule/plan.  Having things prepared, especially ahead of time, are great when he’s having a bad pain day.

Sometimes he worries about hurting you; he’s been a werewolf for long enough to know he won’t lose control except on the full moon, but it still bothers him.  What if you go looking for him in his werewolf form?  What if Moony looks for you?  Were you scared of him?

(So you’ve assured him, both in and out of headspace that you’re not scared of him at al)

When the full moon approaches he is often sick and tired so you do your best to make him feel better.  Drawing more pictures, playing doctor, and snuggles are frequent.

On the night of the full moon, he has to leave you with a babysitter.  He entrusts you to Sirius, who is the greatest babysitter of all time.  He adores you, and you love him too.  (He needs his own set of headcanons for caregiving because he’d LOVE it)

Used to love J.K Rowling. I grew up reading each Harry Potter book as it came out. I still have them to this day and still re-read them. But I wasn’t happy at all with her anti-trans stance.

Going after David Tennant was the final straw. The man is a bright light of kindness in this world. I haven’t heard anyone who knows him and/or has worked with him say one negative thing about him.

Rowling’s sarcastic tweet directed at David was not only mean, it was just plain spiteful and utterly unnecessary. David had never said anything rude to Rowling; why should she be rude to him? She has turned quite petty. Not a good look.

Okay, for anyone who needs context, and this is WILD...

There was an Olympic boxing match between Italian boxer Angela Carini and Algeria’s Imane Khelif which ended after 46 seconds when Carini broke down in tears and left the fight, later telling reporters: “I preferred to stop for my health. I have never felt a punch like this.” Khelif is one of two boxers permitted to fight at the Games despite being disqualified from the women’s world championships in 2023 for failing testosterone and gender eligibility tests.

Numerous right-wing figureheads have started complaining about fairness in sports with JK Rowling going so far as to say, “Could any picture sum up our new men’s rights movement better? The smirk of a male who knows he’s protected by a misogynist sporting establishment enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head, and whose life’s ambition he’s just shattered.”

But Imane Khelif is a cisgender woman.

Imane Khelif was assigned female at birth, has lived her life as a woman, and is 100% a cisgender woman. Even by the bullshit, bigoted standards transphobes set for women she meets them. But TERFs on this website seem to be having a hard time believing that so they're coming up with conspiracy theories, saying Khelif is intersex (which I can't confirm if she is or isn't), and that she, "moves like a man."

But Algeria does not recognize or respect the civil rights of LGBTQ people, so they would not send someone who could even possibly be trans to represent them at the Olympics.

This just goes to show that the standards of womanhood transphobes set-up to keep trans women out hurt cisgender women as much. Khelif is a cisgender woman who was disqualified from the women’s world championships in 2023 for failing testosterone and gender eligibility tests and now has people like JK Rowling - who champions herself as a defender of cisgender women's rights - calling her a man.

TL;DR - A cis woman hit her competitor so hard at the Olympics transphobes are calling her a man.

Imane Khelif.

In 2018 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships, Khelif participated for the first time, where she ranked 17th after being eliminated from the first round.

In the 2019 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships held in Russia, where she ranked 33rd after being eliminated from the first round against Natalia Shadrina.

Khelif represented Algeria in the lightweight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. She was defeated by Ireland's Kellie Harrington in the quarterfinals.

Khelif participated in the 2022 IBA Women's World Boxing Championships, she faced Ireland's Amy Broadhurst in the final and was defeated.

She is not a warmachine. Khelif is a biological woman. Khelif is NOT transgender or transsexual. In Algeria, the country that Khelif represents, transgender identity is prohibited, changing sex or gender is not allowed in official documents, nor are medical or hormonal treatments allowed to transition to another sex. If she was transgender, Khelif would not be able to rapresent her country at all nor travel with an official passport with a female identity!

However, pop up this rumor she was disqualified from 2023 IBA's Women's World Boxing Championships due to high levels of testosterone. Later this was debunked by the same organization. Potentially, could be doping and it was all covered up by sport industry.

Edit: This disqualification happened three days after Khelif defeated Azalia Amineva, a previously unbeaten Russian athlete. The disqualification restored the Russian boxer's undefeated record and IBA has huge ties with the Russian government: the president Kremlev is a Putin supporter and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) expressed concerns about the IBA under Kremlev's leadership. The IOC has also been alarmed by the fact that the IBA's only sponsor was a Russian state-owned energy company (Gazprom) that supports the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Imane Khelif is a UNICEF ambassador, which could again have been seen as a problem by Russian-led IBA, since UNICEF condemned Russian invasion of Ukraine. IBA's allegations that Khelif had failed unspecified eligibility tests are suspicious, expecially because no medical evidence that Khelif has XY chromosomes or elevated levels of testosterone has been published.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC), cleared Khelif to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, confirming that she complied with all necessary eligibility and medical regulations for the event. The IOC noted that Khelif was a woman according to her passport and that this was not a "transgender issue".

She defeated Angela Carini in 42 seconds at the 2024 Olympics, after Carini decided to withdraw citing intense pain in her nose.

This remember me the 'Caster Semenya' case: after Semenya's victory at the 2009 World Championships, she was made to undergo sex testing, and cleared to return to competition the following year. The decision to perform sex testing sparked controversy in the sporting world and in Semenya's home country of South Africa. Later reports disclosed that Semenya has the intersex condition 5α-reductase 2 deficiency and natural testosterone levels in the typical male range.

In 2019, new World Athletics rules came into force preventing athletes like Semenya with certain disorders of sex development (DSDs) from participating in 400m, 800m, and 1500m events in the female classification, unless they take medication to suppress their testosterone levels. Semenya has filed a series of legal cases to restore her ability to compete in these events without testosterone suppression, arguing that the World Athletics rules are discriminatory.

As Khelif, Semenya is cis and has been accused by many people to be trans. Her story has, again, been used and abused to support the anti-trans agenda, claiming that two ciswomen are trans and are unfairly competing with women due to their superior "men strength".

I think Angela Carini was anxious and scared by days of reporter and far-right rumors about how Khelif is incredibly strong and unbeatable, even if Carini has better statistics and more victories in her career than Khelif herself (who was already a Olympics athlete), she was strumentalized by far-right propaganda and made a scene during the match due to anti-trans panic.

J. K. Rowling and Elon Musk, as always, had their small moment of shaming athletes. Most of people think that Carini has been strumentalized by anti-trans Italian propaganda and after being called out for harassing a cisgender woman, she claimed to be sorry for not having respected her adversary during the match.
