I get cheesy about the Oscars.

At its best, this is a celebration of humanity, of people sharing their artistic vision with the world, of creating from the heart of what they care about, of reflecting social and ethical crises through the medium of movies, be they documentary, historical fiction, or fantasy.

--In the monologue, Jimmy Kimmel offered support and solidarity to the members of IATSE, the union representing many crew members, which is currently in contract negotiations that are expected to be difficult. IATSE was a key ally to the writers and actors during their 2023 strikes.

--The In Memoriam segment began with a clip from last year's winning documentary "Nalavny" - "the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for the good people to do nothing."

I don’t usually talk about film, but I really wanted to share my prediction for best actor at the Oscar’s (plz don’t be mean I’m not a film major 🥺). I’ll set the scene. It’s March 10. Michelle Yeoh comes on stage to present best actor. She opens the envelope, the winner is Cillian Murphy. He comes on stage to accept to thunderous applause. He pauses, the audience holds its breath in anticipation for his acceptance speech. But wait, what’s this? He’s reaching towards his chin? He’s wearing a mask??? ITS BRADLEY COOPER IN A CILLIAN MURPHY SUIT!!! ITS HIS OSCAR NOW BITCH! He starts maniacally laughing the Oscar is finally his! Suddenly two loud knocks come from the doors. The room goes silent. The doors burst open to reveal no other than CILLIAN MURPHY COVERED IN BLOOD AND DIRT FROM BRADLEY COOPER BURYING HIM IN A DITCH. He makes his way to the stage. What’s that in his hand. ITS CILLIAN WITH THE STEAL CHAIR COME TO CLAIM HIS TITLE. They grapple back and forth, while the FBI can’t seem to get a clear shot at Bradley. They take the shot anyway, hitting both Bradley and Cillian, killing them upon impact. Jimmy Kimmel, clearly shaken comes up to the podium. “In light of recent events, the Oscar will now go to the runner up. And the Oscar goes to…..NIMONA.” NIMONA wins every. single. Oscar. Ever. Blood and tears were shed but gay people will always win.
