Literally all of his kids in the same time: *gasps*

Dick: Bruce get out of there, don't you want to get married before you're 70?

Bruce's spouse: ...

Bruce: *signs* I'm already married Dick

Damian, literally 12: *sits in the corner*

Staph: Damian what are you doing there? Don't you want to get married before you're old and withery?

Dick: *actually tackling him so he wouldn't sit there*

Both Bruce and Dick come from diasporas, and I’m kind of torn on how to engage with this.

On the one hand, you can go the sweet route. Bruce knows what it’s like to live in a diaspora, to have your culture whittled away over generations of loss, to struggle to engage with your culture after the death of your parents. He would try his utmost to help Dick preserve his Romani traditions. He would find Romani cultural groups in the area and coax Dick to meet them even though he’s grieving. Bruce wouldn’t stand for Dick losing his connection to his culture the way Bruce lost connection to his own.

But on the other hand, you can also go the tragic route. Canon Bruce has very much assimilated. He celebrates Christmas and has expressed a desire to be Christian, and hasn’t ever celebrated a Jewish holiday on panel (to my knowledge). Canonically, his mother celebrated Hanukkah, but Bruce seems to have no interest in being anything but the WASPy son of Thomas Wayne. And he knows that it’s safer this way. No one remembers that Martha Wayne was quietly Jewish. If Bruce assimilates, he avoids the antisemitism, the conspiracy theories, the danger. It’s easier that way. And Bruce wants what’s best for Dick (or at least, what he thinks is best). So I could also see him not actively trying to suppress Dick’s Romani heritage, but also not ever bringing it up and quietly sweeping it under the rug. And of course he knows that this is awful, but—he thinks he’s helping. Gotham’s upper crust is full of vultures, and Bruce thinks that if Dick follows in his footsteps, he’ll be safer that way.

So…Bruce understands some of what Dick’s going through. But how that comes out really depends on how hopeful he is—whether he wants to give Dick a better life or whether he’s just treading water and trying to keep his ward safe in the only way he knows how.

i think that jason vehemently insisted on having a bar mitzvah because he just assumed that dick had one and wanted to prove himself as a part of the family and bruce didn't think much of it so he was like 'sure' and it wasn't until a decade later that jason learns that dick never had one on the principle of wanting to be ungovernable and he never actually asked and bruce thought he knew

My most controversial take on the 'all the Batboys look the same' joke is not only has it always been racist and misogynistic and antisemitic on the purpose of erasing Babs,Cass,Stephanie,Maps and Nell and how most of the Batboys are different races and Bruce is etchnically jewish but is also simply not true.Bruce,Dick,Jason,Tim,Damian and Terry don't look similar just because they're all male with black hair and light eyes and it's very odd to say they do,especially when they're not even the same kind of light eyes(Damian and Jason have green eyes,not blue eyes,and Damian's come from Talia,them actually being a fairly common feature on brown arabs irl)and when Duke has light eyes too(gold eyes,inhereted from Gnonom)yet is excluded from this category for no real reason to make a pass for white boys to be inserted into the Batfam which circles back to the racism and antisemitism and lack of resemblance things and whenever a girl is added to the Batfam it's to be male Batfam members' bicyle and the token female Batfam member,which circles back to the misogyny thing.And technically offtopic but Clark dosen't look like Bruce either and it's only vaguely less weird to think he does.So's drawing Tim as a pasty fragile twink when in canon he looks like a normal white boy if not more well-built and taller than the average one.As is emphazing Stephanie's blondeness to distinct her and not her girlhood when the latter is something she's proud of but the former isn't

In case you didn't know, most of the Wayne clan is Jewish.

Bruce and Tim go to synagogue, Dick comes home for the holidays (yes, all of them), and I get called home to light the menorah every Hanukkah.

Barbara, Steph, and Cass aren't Jewish but they do join us in celebration.

Alfred makes the best matzo ball soup, and no, I do not take criticism on that because it is a fact.

I don't know where Duke and Damian stand, but I assume Dami is agnostic at this point? I'll have that conversation with him later.

Anyway, this is just a long winded way of saying happy Passover!

We all know that the reason why Bruce Wayne isn't religiously Jewish is because dc are cowards, but also because many of the community itself is cowards. I personally believe it comes from a lack of knowledge about what it even means to be religious because most of the community is Christian or culturally Christian. So as someone that would probably be considered not religious by Christians, but Religious by most other Jewish people, I think that Bruce Wayne fits in this section of being Jewish.

Bruce can't go to the Synagogue often because of the whole being Batman stuff, but he still goes on the high holidays when he can. He celebrates with the Kane family as well! And Kate would obviously understand if he couldn't come because she's Batwoman! Give me a Bruce Wayne says Yiddish curses. Give me a Batman that has a bunch of Chanukkiot that are just so pretty because they are rich and definitely have a ton. Give me Batfamily shabbat dinners when they are able to. Rest days on Saturday for the Jewish members when they are more members in the Batfam to make it work (and it being a mitzvah when he does have to be Batman on Shabbat because its a mitzvah to save a life). Give me Mezuzot on every entryway. Give me a Bruce Wayne who inherited his mother's seder plates and actually uses them. Give me a Bruce Wayne that says stuff like kein ayin hara before giving good news! Give me a confused Dick Grayson when Bruce insults him (its actually a compliment, but to ward against the evil eye you will say the opposite of what you mean) and then Bruce having to explain after he realizes that Dick has no idea why he just insulted him. Give me a Batman that follows Jewish values (more than he canonically does)

Just because someone ins't actively involved within a wider community of that Religion doesn't mean they aren't Religious! Or at least don't give me a culturally Jewish Bruce Wayne that doesn't do any of this. Thats just you stripping away all the Jewish parts of him.

Bruce Wayne is Jewish and you can't just ignore that

The bat kids don't deserve the bland whiteness that DC gives them, and as a mixed child who is often presumed as white, I would love to see DC explore this more honestly. Nothing has to change dramatically about their characters (except maybe some features)

Bruce: kneidlach, blintzes and babka (more specifically his grandmother’s recipe)

Dick: Everything Chanukah

Barbara: Cholent, and couscous

Jason: Kugel yerushalmi, kubbe (the one’s who are in soup) and couscous

Cass: Couscous and mofletta

Tim: Kreplach and blintzes (more specifically with sweet cheese)

Steph: Hamantaschen and mofletta

Duke: Matzah brei, schnitzel and mofletta
