I think it would be cool to see a Jewish redeemed villain character where part of their redemption is asking for forgiveness on Yom Kippur

I'm on a drawing kick again, which is nice! The scene where Hermann and Dashiel dance to "What Is This Thing Called Love" is one of my favorite romantic moments in The Shabti.

Hi Nonnie! Thank you for the ask.
I am gonna catch up on Lone Star at some point, though I'm not yet sure when. I guess we'll see when rl is kind enough to me and allows it. But God, yes! That does warm my heart, thank you so much for telling me! :D
(if anyone feels like sending these to me, I would be really happy!)
I hope you're enjoying LS' s4, lovely! And have a great day! As always, here's my ask tag. xoxox

"NOW GET IN THE TENT!!!"
Concept art from my graphic novel-in-progress, The Blacksmith.
You can read the first two arcs in draft form on AO3, with concept art. The final novel will have 13 arcs, and then hopefully two sequel books.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This moment here is in the 4th arc, where Kuruk realizes for the first time that no longer working alone means that his new partner-in-crime might actually care that Kuruk doesn't remain outside in the rain all night!
"It's a one-person tent..." Kuruk protests lamely, knowing he's losing this argument.
David's eyes roll the hardest eyes can roll, he folds his arms tighter as he shivers in the rain but refuses to back down, "I'M SMALL. WE'LL FIT. LET'S GO!!"
David is only mad because if Kuruk wasn't so stubborn, he would have come to David's nice dry tent himself, and David would have been happy to share! But instead David had to go out to get him and now they're BOTH soaked! (But obviously he's still gonna share his tent.)
But don't worry! It may be a tight fit, but they do both manage to sleep in David's tent that night! :)

Hi idk if this will reach anyone who could help me with this but I ll throw in my request anyway:
I m writing a fantasy novel set in a setting similar to 7th century earth and I want to make one of my characters Jewish coded ( I might make it explicit in the story later but for now I can only imply it because the point of view character is not from earth so I wouldn't expect them to recognise different religions at first glance ) . She is a north African royal woman who from an outsider viewpoint has an unclear role as either a "villain" or "good guy" and might be the subject of lots of rumours. I want to work on how she would be seen from the outside but I want to avoid antisemitic stereotypes while still keeping it clear that she is Jewish. If someone who's Jewish could help me with some suggestions either through asks or dms I would really appreciate it.

I think that in the environment and all that's happening, this fic from 2015 os still accurate.
As we keep seeing jews worldwide accused of being Nazis (???), and the spread of hate, and the international day of holocaust remembrance.
I think this fic gives an important view for non-jews. A mirror, one may say.
No Accounting for Heroes
By: Lady_Blackhawk, RedGold
Summary:
When S.H.I.E.L.D. fell, the loss of life was devastating, but what of the agents left behind? Rani Feldman is a Forensic Accountant who survived the fall of the Triskelion. Cleared by the FBI, Rani is left to pick up the pieces of her life. Unfortunately, the Jewish accountant is unable to get a job as everyone keeps accusing her of being HYDRA. With her life falling apart around her, she discovers she’s not alone. Thousands of former S.H.I.E.L.D. agents have been left homeless, penniless, and without adequate healthcare. Rani can’t help them all, she might not even be able to help a few, and should she even try?
“This isn’t a story of superheroes and magic. This is a story of how I survived a world of superheroes and magic.”

Ways to show a home in a show or movie belongs to a Jewish character that isn't just lazily having a menorah in the shot for 0.02 seconds:
-Mezuzah on the doorpost/s
-Hamsas hanging on the wall
-Shabbat candles on a shelf somewhere
-Basket or drawer full of endless monogrammed and logo-ed Kippot from past weddings, B' Mitzvahs, and holiday parties.
-A calendar with both Hebrew and Gregorian dates on the wall
-A collection of Jewish books
-Various Jewish ritual items scattered around

twitter. com/ RonenRubinstein/status/1645845230065942528 clip from tonight's Lone Star episode.
Hi darling! Thank you so much for sending me this clip! I really appreciate your kindness and that you thought of me! *HUGS*
TBH, I'm... a bit unsurprised, but still disappointed. This very much looks like a montage meant to explain to the viewers why none of these officiants is a viable one. So it's already kind of disheartening to see the option of the rabbi presented in this context. But it's also upsetting to see that a rabbi who is fully accepting of Tarlos as a gay couple is sort of implied to be just as unacceptable as a priest who is telling them they're going to hell. I also feel like there MUST be more accepting priests in Austin, so the choice to present one like this should probably also be upsetting. Not to mention that I'm not sure why a man with that POV would even agree to meet with Tarlos to discuss being their officiant. Like, nothing about this little bit works for me (the one part that does is the lady who wants them to have the difficult conversations before marriage, because actually? Yes. THAT is sound advice). But yeah, as a Jew in a permanent state of deprivation when it comes to actually good Jewish rep, my gut tells me this ep doesn't look like what I was hoping for.
Again, thank you for sharing with me! Even if I'm unhappy, at least I'm prepared and know what to expect once I do watch the ep. And just know that I am ALWAYS happy to hear from you! Have a great day, my love! As always, my ask tag. xoxox
