Very interested in the idea of Stan being a little surprised just how violence-prone Ford has become after returning from the portal.

Like one day they're caught up in some trouble and Stan is about to suggest something about punching their way to safety.

"Look, Ford, I know you're not gonna want to hear this, but the only way we get out of here is to--"

And Ford interrupts with, "To knock our adversaries out cold with tremendous force and pile their unconscious bodies somewhere out of sight, obviously."

"What??"

"Nothing, I just - I guess I just thought you'd wanna do something more nerdy and, I don't know, diplomatic or something."

"It can be!" Ford pulls out a pair of pristine metal gloves imbued with electric runes and glowing energy nodules. "All we have to do is wear these McGucket Brand Diplo-Matic Metal Boxing Gloves to do the punching with. Granted," he adds, tossing a glove to Stan and pulling the six-fingered glove on his left hand. "While traversing the dimensions, I did have to resort to fighting my way out of trouble bare-knuckle, but since reconciling with Fiddleford, I was able to commission these from him. They'll really cut down on the number of hits it'll take to bring an enemy down, you see."

He looks up to find Stan just staring at him. "What?"

"When did you start resorting to violence right off the bat?"

"Around the same time an evil sorcerer from Dimension 90*BLT tried to imprison me in a sandwich shop diorama for all eternity," Ford says, then adds a little defensively. "And anyway, I don't resort to violence right off the bat, only in dire situations like this one. Is that going to be a problem?"

"You kidding me?" Stan immediately shakes the shock off and pulls his own custom made glove on. "First one to reach 20 punches gets to pick what's for dinner?"

Ford snaps his fingers and watches electric blue energy run along the runes and grins. "Loser has to pay."

The rest of the apartment was well lived. Cluttered, maybe, but not in disarray. Seto found what must be Jounouchi's workout corner near a window, judging by the rolled up yoga mat and dumbbells piled against the wall. Small sofa facing a TV, a well-stocked kitchen, and no sign of a computer in the house.

He couldn't say he was surprised about that last bit.

Stuff littered the coffee table: DVD boxes, old newspapers, a pristine ashtray. Under a cookbook, he fished out a skin mag. Its binding was creased, and its centerfold pages wrinkled.

Seto scrunched his nose at the pixelated nudes of petite, dark-haired women in various erotic poses. It was all so painfully cliché and heteronormative.

He replaced it, open and in plain view, on top of the table. Let Jounouchi know he'd seen it.

His most unexpected discovery were the potted plants which cluttered the windowsill. A bushel of potted chives, sprigs of green onions In a cup of water, a stalk sprouting broad, purple leaves, and other leafy green plants that appear herbaceous in nature.

There was even a tiny lopsided bonsai.

A smile tugged at Seto's lips. It was disarmingly charming, just like its owner, regardless of the rougher edges.
