It's been 2 weeks since Love Class 2 ended and I can't stop thinking about it. So I am here to tell you why I liked it soooo much in the hopes that maybe more people will give it a chance.
First off: You don't need to watch the first season before you watch Love Class 2.
The full main cast consists of new characters that weren't in the first season and the main connecting point between the two seasons is the Love Class which is a university course called "Marriage and Family". The class is used in both seasons as a tool to push two characters together and make them spend time together. The way the class works is by pairing the students up and then have them pretend to "date" while writing assignments related to their "dating" (whether this is a real class I am unsure but the same concept is used in the Korean GL "Girlfriend Project Day 1" so it might be a Korean thing *shrugs*). I already really liked how this concept was used in the first season and the second season utilizes it just as well and actually takes a different approach to this so it doesn't feel like the show is just repeating itself.
The basics:
Love Class 2 is a Korean BL with 10 episodes of 30 min-ish each. It has three couples and even if it's short compared to Thai BLs it made good use of the time it was given.
The three couples are all connected but have very different plot lines and dynamics. The couples are as follow:
1. Reunion/mystery past (goes a little dark but no-one gets hurt). Kim An was Lee Hyun's tutor while Lee Hyun was in high school but one day Kim An dissappeared. Two years later they are reunited at university but they've both changed a lot in those two years, Kim An more so. Finally meeting Kim An again, Lee Hyun re-inserts himself in Kim An's life through the Love Class. This turns out to be easier said than done since Kim An's past keeps a tight hold off him.
Tumblr media
2. Friends to Lovers /Unrequited Love but not really
Minwoo has liked Maru for so long and has finally resigned himself to his feelings never being returned which makes it so much more frustrating when Maru is always there in his life.
Tumblr media
3. Meet-cute / Strangers to Lovers
TA Kim Sungmin and senior student Yoo Joohyuk meet in the most awkward situation (for Sungmin that is πŸ˜…). In the aftermath Joohyuk makes it his mission to get Sungmin's attention.
Tumblr media
Things I really like about the show:
Great chemistry with all three couples
Interesting plot and good storytelling
Some amazing kisses and believable physical intimacy
Interesting and funny dynamics between the characters, both inside and outside their pairings
Satisfying confessions and resolution for the couples (let's be real, I've watched one of the confession scenes an embarrassing number of times)
The story isn't told 100% chronologically and you aren't told all the facts from the beginning. I'm personally a big fan of this kinda storytelling and I think they do a really good job of unveiling the mystery and developing the relationships.
Final thoughts:
This show manages to both be wholesome, funny, dark, soft and sensual, and with a great ensemble of characters and couples. I really liked all three couples and even if the couples had very different plot lines this still felt like one show.
I've already watched it twice and I think it's definitely a show I'll come back to again which is a testament to how much I like this show.
If you aren't convinces yet here are some GIFS to set the mood!

DRAMA REVIEW | MOVING (2023)
Tumblr media
In a time when we are suffering from an over-saturation of content and less than mediocre stories, particularly related to people with superpowers, South Korea has released MOVING and proved there's still hope for the genre.
Like its tittle the story is in constant move, not only pushing forward but going back to different timelines to give us context o our main characters and how the things happening in present time are a direct consequence to the past. Technically, MOVING is perfect. One of the strongest points is definitely the editing and this can be seen in the way the story jumps from one year to another but you never lose track of what's happening nor leaves you confused. There are gaps to fill but with other episodes that will give you answers. The score complements the actions and emotions of the characters to perfection.
The performances are top notch and it's not surprise considering this drama is stacked. If you have been watching korean dramas or films for a while, you will recognize even the most random character or one-episode-cameo it's performed by an award winning actor or actress. These people have a reputation for a reason and they deliver in every scene, with a look, a touch, a smile or a punch that will push you through a wall. For some characters in the drama literally speaking.
Zo In Sung hasn't starred in a drama since Dear My Friends (2016) and I am so glad this is his return to the tv format. In MOVING he delivered a nuance, charming and badass performance that in the hands of another would have fell flat. His character's entire existence it's what pushes most of the story forward: a person used as a weapon to kill but all he ever wanted was to live. The big mystery of the drama it's to find out what was his fate after he got separated from those he loves.
Ryoo Seung Ryong remains one of the most compelling actors of his generation, giving us the incredible story of a good man lost in life until he found his purpose and redemption. His storyline, full of gore and violence, was actually a tender love story about how far a man will go to protect his family. Marvelous.
Han Hyo Joo's character could have easily fallen into the Smurfette principle but no. She's an equal to the men who love her and those that want to kill her, with a very strong motivation to keep herself on the top of the game. This character's loneliness comes through every scene she's in, bottling everything up in order to be strong for her family but you can tell she's waiting for a chance to be free and, most importantly, for her son to be able to live freely.
Ko Yoon Jung, Lee Jeong Ha and Kim Do Hoon are really promising actors, particularly considering they hold their own while performance with so many household names. I think Kim Do Hoon and Kim Sun Kyun probably gave one of the most heartbreaking yet beautiful stories in the drama.
Like I mentioned before every single actor in this drama brought their A+ game face but I would be doing a disservice if I didn't mention Kim Hee Won, Cha Tae Hyun, Ryoo Seung Bum, Park Hee Soon, Yang Dong Geun, Jo Bok Rae, Park Kwang Jae, Kim Joong He and, of course, Kwak Sun Young. She in particular was SPECTACULAR.
None of these characters are one-dimensional, they are not defined by the label society wants to put on them. They are all joined together by the experiences, hardships, love, motivations and ambitions they share. At the end of the day, related or not by blood, they are a family. Even the so-called enemies.
MOVING it's absolutely worthy of the hype that surrounds it through all social media and news outlets putting in the category of one of 2023 best tv shows. I only regret I didn't have the time to watch it sooner so I could have add it to mine.

A new kingdom born of red blood. Who is the owner of Joseon In 1398, King Taejo Lee Seong-gye installed his youngest son, not Lee Bang-won (Jang Hyuk), the prince who founded the country with his own blood, as crown prince under the protection of Jeong Do-jeon, and a bloody battle over the throne and power is predicted. Meanwhile, general Kim Min-jae (Shin Ha-kyun), son of Taejo's son-in-law Jin (Kang Ha-neul), son-in-law of Jeong Do-jeon, becomes commander-in-chief of the Korean army for his contributions to protecting the borderline of Joseon from the Yeojin tribes of the north and Japanese pirates of the south.
Chosun of ambition for the throne and power, the age of innocence behind it Prince Yi Bang-won, who could not become king, Min-jae, who was called Jeong Do-jeon's dog as a child of a Yeojin tribe mother, and his father, Jin, who only pursues pleasure in the secret that he is not his biological son. For the first time in her life, Min-jae discovers something she wants to protect from Ga-hee (Kang Han-na), a courtesan who resembles her mother. However, his innocence against the era of his first rebellion and ambition brings blood and wind that will change the fate of the three men standing in the middle of troubled times and the newly born kingdom of Joseon.
Jang Hyuk[1] as Lee Bang-won of Jeongan-gun, who causes a rebellion to ascend the throne, Shin Ha-kyun as Kim Min-jae (fictional character), a son-in-law of Jeong Do-jeon and an upright military commander who has risen to the position of governor of the three military districts, and Kang Han-na and Kim Min-jae as Ga-hee, a courtesan who becomes Kim Min-jae's concubine. Son Byeong-ho was cast as Kim Jin (fictional character), Lee Jae-yong as Lee Jae-yong, and Taejo Lee Seong-gye as Kim Jin (fictional character).
The total production cost was 5.5 billion won. The break-even point was 2.4 million, but the final number of viewers did not exceed 500,000, and it completely failed at the box office. The final audience was 469,891. And exactly three weeks after the release, the IPTV reel was confirmed.
The reason for the box office failure lies in marketing, which created a gap between the perfection of the film and the expectations of the audience. Experts' ratings are lower than Hellman, which was released at the same time, but Choi Kwang-hee commented that "The Age of Innocence" was the culmination of this year's disappointing Korean films. It can be said that the level of perfection is lacking in that it has not been decided whether to focus on the background of the prince's rebellion and the power struggle or the melodrama of the two leads.
The reason why the title is "The Age of Innocence" and the fact that the love story between Kahi and Kim Min-jae is mainly dealt with in the movie is because the director's initial intention is close to a melodrama. What I wanted to express in the film was 'the heartbreaking tragedy of Kim Min-jae, who falls in love and falls in love with her enemy's father'. The background was just a material to emphasize the tragedy. However, audiences who went to see this movie expected an authentic historical drama story of a power struggle through a prince's rebellion and a weighty story befitting the casting of Shin Ha-kyun and Jang Hyuk, but were not interested in a love story. Therefore, the audience reviews were not good, which led to a box office failure. The synopsis of this movie was a love story, but very few audiences read and watch it in detail, so the viewpoints of the director and the audience were different.
In order to succeed at the box office, marketing had to be prepared to minimize the gap between the audience's expectations and the theme of the film at the publicity stage, but as the poster suggests, the film rather intensified this gap. If you look at the posters or advertisements, you can feel that a 19-karat version of a love story between a man and a woman is added to a historical drama that thoroughly deals with the chaotic society of the early Joseon Dynasty. In the end, from the perspective of the audience who went to see the movie with this kind of marketing, 'This is not an orthodox historical drama centered on power struggles, and there are too many bed scenes to be a beautiful love story between two leads. What is this? It's not even an erotic movie?' The acting skills of the actors were not bad, and the directing of the scenes with outstanding visual beauty, the reproduction of the earrings of men in the early Joseon Dynasty, and the fact that the wearing of the Hwando were well done, it is clear that the director took great care in that direction. Even in the case of the bed scene, it took up a lot of weight because the director wanted to express emotions such as love through "conversation with the body" such as the actors having an affair scene. However, from the director's point of view, the early Joseon Dynasty was just a historical background to maximize the melodrama, but from the audience's point of view (apart from marketing), it was the "early period of Joseon", which is probably the most familiar part of Korean history through numerous historical works. At the very least, it could have received a higher rating if it had included a lot of related action or political scenes to satisfy fans who are not interested in melodramas.
In other words, if you expect it to be an adult melodrama with a passionate bed scene added to the love story of Kahi and Kim Min-jae, set in the prince's rebellion in the early Joseon Dynasty, you can see it as a movie with good quality in terms of visual beauty and portrayal of emotional changes. So, compared to other works set in the same era, the proportion of actresses is higher. New actress Kang Han-na, who plays the female lead, Ka-hee, struggles to carve out her destiny among three men, but ends up frustrated with reality. rated Therefore, you can enjoy the movie more by focusing on the changes in behavior and emotions of Kahi, a fictional character.
Lastly, as befits a movie that is not intended for viewing by young people, where the emotional lines of love between actors are quite important, the director took the bed scene with great care and the length is long. Of course, there were also criticisms that the production company overdid exposure marketing and pointed out that the bed scenes in some scenes were out of the blue. In the general version, it was pointed out that the flow of bed scenes was cut off due to cross-editing of bed scenes and other scenes in some cuts. It has a higher degree of perfection because it has added a little more, focusing on the female lead.

'Begin Again' Heize X HYNN to John Park X Choi Jung Hoon's fantasy duet
Tumblr media
A fantastic duet party took place.
In JTBC's 'Begin Again - Intermission', which aired at 10:30 pm on the 27th, a hot busking scene was drawn.
On this day's broadcast, Lim Jae-bum said that he would perform his favorite song, 'Soldier of Fortune', which is always present in his performances.
After the song ended, exclamations erupted everywhere. Afterwards, Heize, who will show the busking order, laughed, "I'm going to do it this time" as if the burden was a hundredfold.
Next, Heize said, β€œHYNN and I have a female duet,” and β€œI prepared a song that goes well with the season.”
The selection was 'My Lips Like Warm Coffee' by Shop. Heize said, "Hasn't HYNN been active in a girl group recently?" HYNN said, "I lived a very happy life."
Heize said, "I was envious, but I feel reassured and honored to be together today" and then performed a duet song. After the song was over, the two praised each other and created a warm look. In particular, HYNN, who showed rap, was embarrassed, but the audience shouted that it was good.
On the other hand, there was also a duet between Ha Dong-gyun and Kim Feel, who are attractive voices that snipe women's hearts. The two performed Kim Kwang-seok's 'Love that was too painful wasn't love'.
Kim Jong-wan selected his representative song 'Far Away', which was covered by numerous artists such as Jang Beom-jun and Ahn Ji-young, and John Park and Choi Jeong-hoon selected John Park's debut song 'Falling' as a duet, giving the audience a sweet voice. did. Not only that, Choi Jeong-hun also presented an emotional stage by selecting the Beatles' song 'Yesterday'.
Meanwhile, Kang Min-kyung, who selected her song 'Because I Love You', said, "It's not her famous song," and she shyly smiled and sang her own song. When the song was over, Choi Jeong-hoon said, "The children in the audience became solemn while playing pranks."
