🔸July/October 1978 - Queen Story!
"Jazz"
Queen's seventh studio album was the first to be recorded outside of the UK. Sessions for Jazz began at Mountain Studios in Switzerland, in July 1978, and later moved to Super Bear studios in Nice, France, concluding in October. Producer Roy Thomas Baker had been absent on the previous two LPs, but for this project the team was reunited - though it would prove to be the last Queen/Baker production. Geoff Workman and John Etchells were the engineers.
"Jazz" was released in the UK on 10th November 1978 and four days later in America, reached number 2, chart for 27 weeks, achieved Platinum status.
Singles from this album: Fat Bottomed Girls / Bicycle Race / Don’t Stop Me Now / Jealousy.

I've noticed I've started to like songs from Jazz a lot more than I used to. That used to be one of my least favourite albums, but I've listening to more songs from it again and I realised songs I thought I didn't like as much I really do like.
I think the main reason I haven't been listening to them as much is because it's one of the albums I don't have on CD or record and I listen to my CDs a lot.
I used to not care about Dreamers Ball, regretfully, but now I love it. I think it's probs my second fav song at the moment.
And I've had In Only Seven Days stuck in my head all morning, but it's only 7:30am so that's not really saying much

Just had a vinyl haul guys!! I’m starting my Pink Floyd binge right now (haven’t listened to all their albums yet, but listened to quite a few songs by them), so that’s why I bought so many Floyd records here 😅 (it’s also been a while since I’ve last done one, so it was really fun to do one again!)

i feel Queen should have switched the release of Hot Space and Jazz. I know this obviously could never have happened, but I feel it would have been better for the band if it did. If Hot Space was released in 78, then disco would still be popular in the US and the band would have gone somewhere new; one of the biggest things Jazz was criticised for was staying more or less the same as NotW. Queen would have had an easier time crossing over, and probably be more enduring in the States. If people were unhappy or when the public pulled away from disco, Jazz would come in and take them back to rock. Then everything has more of a balance. Again I know that most (if any) of the songs off Hot Space weren't written yet and most of the stuff in Jazz prolly couldn't have been written later, but it was just an idea.
