You can sign up as many times as you want, as a writer and/or artist, just please be aware of the commitment you are taking on! To sign up again, just fill out the form again.

Please note: On the form there will be a spot to put your email address. This is solely for the mods’ use to contact you and your email will not be shared. Please list an email you check often.

There are three types of bangs for this event: teeny bangs, mini bangs, and big bangs. Teeny bangs are fics between 5k-10k. Mini bangs are fics between 10k-20k. Big bangs are any fics 20k and above. The minimum word count for this event is 5k. For this event, we do not accept RPF, incest, or explicit (E/NC-17/R) fics, however, any other ships, genres, themes, and universes are okay! Write to your heart’s content!

Each fic will have an artist. Teeny and mini bangs will receive one piece of art while big bangs receive two, in any medium the artist chooses. White- and orange-washing will not be tolerated.

There will be a Backup Band consisting of writers and artists on hold in case any others have to drop out of the event for any reason. Those called forward from the Backup Band will be accommodated in terms of posting dates.

All right so I haven't been active in the Julie and the Phantoms fandom in a long time, and although I know there are definitely still people creating and reblogging in the fandom it tends to be a much smaller handful of people than it used to, which for me felt disheartening and was part of why I've backed off from it. I'd love to see new stuff more regularly and start recirculating older things just to remind myself and anyone else who needs it how much I love this silly little show.

All this to say, I am putting out feelers to see if anyone is interested in a blog that runs consistent, casual event-type things for the fandom to try and revitalize interest in jatp fanworks, like featured weeks for individual characters here, fic rec events, etc. I'm toying with ideas to inspire people to pick up their wips, spark new stories, and highlight older content that didn’t get much attention or would just be nice to see again. I’d like to create a community space to liven the fandom back up for people who miss the show or got into the fandom after the hype died down. Does that seem interesting to anyone?

Imagine being there when Julie meets the guys

When you responded to Julie's text and made your way to her house, you didn't know what to expect. She had sent a '911' text so it had to be something big since she wasn't the type of person to just frivolously sent the code word you, Flynn, and Julie had come up with. You expected perhaps her being ready to open up and talk about her mom. Ghosts were the furthest things on your mind but that was exactly what you walked into.

Julie took the lead as she led the two of you into the loft. Holding the cross in hand high in the air, she cautiously looks around the room. "Are you still here," She says nervously, "whatever you are?"

Circling the room, nothing seems out of place from the last time you were here and it was just you two in the loft. When nothing changes or appears, she looks at you in disbelief as she shakes her head. "I know I saw something. I'm not crazy."

Opening your mouth, you were about to say something - anything to comfort her - when a mysterious and male spoke. "Well, we're all a little crazy."

Willie grinned and accepted. "Pretty sure those guys are spending more on lawyers than they're making, the opportunity cost is too high."

"Please tell me that means you took notes in econ today?" Bobby sniffled, coming into the kitchen wrapped in a fluffy blanket despite it being 70 degrees outside.

"Hey, you feeling any better kiddo?" Trevor asked, immediately flipping into Concerned Dad Mode.

Bobby shrugged listlessly and stole an apple slice off the cutting board. "I haven't thrown up yet today so there's that?"

"Progress," Willie said, smiling at his step-brother. Or brother brother? They were all still trying to figure out where those lines went. "And yes, I have econ notes and history notes. No art notes cause... duh."

Bobby attempted to return the expression. "Thanks Wills."

Because I had two versions in my brain and they both needed let out...

Julie and the Phantoms are at a meet and greet, engaging with fans. They arrange themselves for another group photo, as previously planned, with Julie sandwiched between Reggie and Luke, the latter’s arm around her waist, and Alex behind them. They’re engaged in quiet conversation while they wait, and from the fan’s perspective, Julie and Luke must look particularly intimate because suddenly a cheer starts making its way through the crowd. 

“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”

Julie pulls her attention back to the people in front of them and rolls her eyes as Luke’s hand tightens on her waist. She feels Reggie pull away slightly from her other side, as if to give the two of them room in encouragement and Alex has already lifted his hands in resignation and removed himself from the whole situation. A lot happens in a very, very short moment of time and she finds herself taking a page out of Luke’s book, pulling Reggie into the space between them as she extracts herself from his grasp. Both boys (and everyone else) are stunned for a moment but Luke recovers almost imperceptibly quickly and shrugs before wrapping his hand around the back of Reggie’s neck and pulling him in for a kiss. 

Alex and Julie gape at them while a collective gasp rises from the crowd.

When they pull apart, Reggie adjusts his hair as he reorients himself in his spot a Julie’s width away from Luke and Luke directs a wink her way. She shakes her head in amusement and a grin before taking her own place between them. 

Luke nods toward Alex, summoning him back too.

“Flynn’s gonna be pissed,” Alex tells him as he returns to his position behind them though he can’t keep the amusement out of his voice.

“Worth it,” Luke grins at him

The band recovers as if nothing had even happened. It takes the fans a bit longer but the stunned silence turns into excited clamouring and the event is back underway before too long.

y’know has much as i love jatp as it is, i do like to consider if the story was paced differently with two seasons and having the first season be about the boys figuring out their deaths and helping julie recovery from losing her mom/getting her back into music while uncovering the truth about boddy/trevor. (background plot involving alex and willie and developing their relationship. the club being a fun ghost thing but celeb is a looming unknown threat coming that willie is trying to secretly keep away) leading into a season two about the boys crossing over and julie coming to terms with the fact they might leave her sooner or later and moving on her by herself. (carrie’s turn for redemption included!) also celeb getting more time to be the Big Bad with more music scenes in the club and freeing willie (williex endgame!) keeping it similar to the actual show where’s its open ended as to when and if the boys crossed over. but yknow. i think the one season is pretty good too

-Okay but you know the debutante ball? Luke got out before he was forced to do his, thank god, and he tells Rory she does not have to go through with his sham of gender performative nonsense just to appease her grandmother. But Rory is all 'eh what's the worst that could happen'.

-Emily has a minor meltdown when she realises Luke never gave Rory a middle name because HOW ARE THEY GOING TO ANNOUNCE HER FULL NAME WITHOUT A MIDDLE NAME LUKE?

-They go to Reggie's to brainstorm names. Reggie keeps swinging between Star Wars names and old people names, since 'Reginald is a classic, what's wrong with Ethel?'

-Alex is like: Luke stop trying to convince Rory to take Danger as her middle name.

-Eventually Rory goes over to the Molina house and asks Julie and Ray if it would be okay for her to use Rose as her middle name, because she's the best mother figure she's had.

-Yes there are many ugly tears.

-Luke also did not give himself a middle name and his mother pesters him for weeks and shoots down 'Danger' and 'Skywalker' as his middle name. He also can't ask Ray for his because like, then it would start to get creepy.

-So in a fit of frustration after the sixteenth phone call he steals Reggie's middle name, since Alex' is literally 'Christian' and nope. Emily is like: are you SURE? Yes, mom, he's sure.

-"Lorelai Rose Gilmore, daughter of Luke Eugene Gilmore and Robert Trevor Shaw" walks down the stairs with her dad to become a proper lady of society.

-Yes Luke wears a tux with tails and does not rip the sleeves off but only because Rory hid his seam ripper. Rude.

-Yes they go to Reggie's diner after and eat burgers while still wearing their gloves.

-Yes there are slightly less ugly tears when Reggie hears Luke borrowed his middle name.

-Yes Miss Patty and Babette quietly made jokes about how soon, they'd all be sharing last names instead.

-Alex has taken every dance class ever given by Miss Patty.

-For the longest time Emily and Mitch think Reggie and Alex are one single person. "The diner owner with the coffee and the plaid and the baseball cap."

-You just know the first time they meet Reggie and Alex they go home like: okay but which one does Luke have a crush on???

-Sometimes, Alex goes on one of his rants, and Reggie just leans on the counter with his chin on his hands and watches him with heart-eyes.

-Luke sometimes specifically eggs Alex on because he likes to see love-struck Reggie.

giving myself mild heart attacks by almost reblogging random shit to Blogs That Are Officially For Something again. so you know. this post is one way for people to learn that yes the jatp renaissance blog is still happening.

JATP x DBDA crossover where the Phantoms are free but Willie still isn’t and Caleb is playing dirty now that the boys have bested him (possessing Nick but also cmon he definitely has more magic up his sleeve) so they start trying to figure out Magic on their own, which is really just Julie and Flynn googling things and trying out various types of magic/spells/scam artists in the area, only for someone to come across something to do with the DBDA who are happy to take the case 👀

I have too many WIPs for this but just some ideas floating around my head:

- Crystal at first butts heads with Julie and Flynn (residual mean girl tendencies/differing senses of humor) but end up bonding over being surrounded by (dumb) dead teenage boys

- None of the Phantoms are good at proper spells but their music 100% has magical properties that is utilised in whatever final battle type event happens

- Edwin has come to terms with Charles’s eccentricities but the Phantoms are a whole other type of teenage boy and I think he would be just so catty about it all. Like why are they cute and so stupid this is ridiculous why the Hell did we even take this case can they please take this seriously

- Charles and Reggie vibe. I don’t make the rules

- Flynn can’t see the boys either which naturally leads to hijinks

- Monty attends a concert (he deserves to have fun) and while I considered him being the link between the two groups I think it would be funnier if he decided to go to a concert and runs into them coincidentally

- Based on a precursory AO3 search I’ve seen some fics where Monty gets in trouble with Caleb which makes sense with the whole magic familiar angle but I’m not copying here so I won’t get into that

- I think Willie interacting with DBDA would be wild. Like. Dead pretty boy with a sense of humour and tragic backstory? They’re all swooning fr

- Niko (shhh) gets along with Julie and Flynn IMMEDIATELY like they are talking about shows and DIYing things together and it’s great

- Crystal gets along better/faster with Julie and Flynn with Niko present fs

- There’s at least one dance number with everyone involved

- possessed!Nick is still trying to woo Julie and not only do we get the Phantoms side eyeing him but now we get the DBDA just openly judging him (Crystal roasts the shit out of that fedora and she’s RIGHT)

- Crystal would decimate any of Carrie’s attempts at being bitchy so I think we have to redeem Carrie for that reason alone

- DBDA goes to a JATP concert and the boys are actually awful at vibing there. Like Crystal is relatively normal (idk if it’s her scene but she’s been to concerts before) but Edwin does not know what to do at a modern concert and Charles is used to a much different style of dancing/concerts (I don’t know enough abt aka punk to elaborate unfortunately but ykwim)

- girls night includes style swapping bc the DBDA girlies deserve some butterfly clips and the JATP girlies deserve some eyeliner

- in the nature of JATP I don’t think Caleb gets sent to hell in the end but I do think his ending needs to be ridiculous. Like have him get the Night Nurse treatment and get eaten by that fish so he can be redeemed by Kashi

- not to bring up Monty again but I think he sticks around and keeps up with the JATP crew more than the DBDA (he is not interested in any more of that Hell/monster energy and that’s so valid of him)

- montage of Edwin and Charles teaching the Phantoms ghost abilities (I can’t remember if/how they vary between shows but if so shhh or explain it away yk)

- Unseen Emily reprise and it’s all the boys mourning loved ones. Just for the feels.

- Actually just more backstories for everyone please

- Love ballad/slow song that Willex and/or Payneland dance to 🥰

- Palasaki being openly in love (which inspires whatever the Flynn x Carrie ship is bc I love them)

Imagine Luke's reaction when you go on a date

"Okay, but how do you know that he's an okay guy?" Luke asked you as he watched you stand in front of your bathroom sink getting ready for a date from his place on the edge of your bathtub. Crossing his arms across his chest, the grumpy look on his face was clear as day though you didn't notice it as you focused on the mirror before you.

"You've met him before, Luke." Opening up the mirror, you looked through the shelves for something that would help you tame your hair. You rummage through the supplies, moving them from the shelves to the counter to get a better view of what is inside. "We shared like three classes last year and he helped us pass that one test. You said he was cool."

There's a pause as Luke thinks about what he could say, silently cursing inside his mind. He does remember the guy clearly and he does recall saying that but he never thought his words would be used against him. He knows the guy and though the two of them were not close, he does know he's a good person but that doesn't mean he wanted you to date him. Though Luke knew he held feelings for you, he never acted on them. The two of you had always been thick as thieves, one never being far from the other and it was that closeness that made him believe that you would always be by his side. You were always there to lend a helping hand to him or the band, whether it be someone for him to bounce lyrics off of or helping them load up the van for their newest gig, you were right there and he had taken that for granted.

If he had noticed all of those qualities about you, why didn't he realize that other people would too? Even if this date didn't work out, there would be more in the future and those could work out. As those thoughts entered his mind, his heart began to ache; his chest felt uncomfortably tight.

"What if you didn't go out with him?" The sentence came out before he realized out. But when it did, he didn't mind out.

"First, I think it's a bit too late to cancel as it's close to the meeting time, and second, what would I do instead." Closing the mirror, you met his gaze through it.

"You could go out with me instead."

Breaking up what’s becoming Locky spam… not that I mind at all. I was deep in the JATP fandom back in 2021 and it was probably my first experience actively engaging with others and events, safe to say I have a really special place in my heart for this show.
