#jason loves his father

Something something violence has always been the primary love language for Waynes, something something.
It breaks me that Bruce loves Jason so deeply, and Jason is so completely unaware of it. He comes to the conclusion that love is religion. You have to see to believe.
Iā€™m just thinking about Jason watching evidence of how wrecked Bruce is after his death. He stalks Batman, always, tracks down every movement and breath. He waits for the perfect moment to shoot.
Your father only dies once, after all.
That moment, mysteriously, doesnā€™t come.
Jasonā€™s never been scared of Bruce. Fear, to him, is darkness and cold and a bleach white face laughing at him. Fear of Bruce not being there at all. Thatā€™s fear.
I need a scene where Jason, ā€” Red Hood, ā€” watches Batman pin down a mugger.
He doesnā€™t know what that man says. Something about getting on him for not being there when Wayneā€™s boy got killed.
Heā€™s never been scared of Bruce.
But when he punches that man, over and over and over, when his throat makes those horrible sounds of gasping effort, animal and feral, heā€™s afraid. Afraid Bruce wonā€™t stop.
Heā€™s about to jump in when another, smaller pair of feet runs up to the scene and Jesus Christ thatā€™s a kid ā€” A kid wearing Jasonā€™s old uniform. Wrapping his arms around Batmanā€™s and clinging.
The man on the ground is motionless. If he didnā€™t blink, Jason wouldnā€™t know there was a face anymore.
But thatā€™s not the worst part.
The worst part is Bruce crying. Gasping, punched out noises, his hands drenched with red, squeezing the kid so close to him.
ā€œMy baby. Oh my baby.ā€

Bruce Wayne is canonically a very handsome man (he is called a "pretty boy" and he is in his 40s, for fuck's sake), and he is pretty famous as a rich philanthropist who doesn't want to leave his awful cursed crime infested city. So, there must be a ton of people thirsting over him on the internet. Fancams, edits, fanfics and imagines ("kidnapped with Bruce Wayne šŸ˜ by a Gotham rogue"), the whole charade!
And anytime one of the batkids stumbles on a thirst post, they have the most dramatic disgusted reaction, loudly gagging, before sending the link to the batkids chat, because if they must suffer, then they should all suffer. Clicking on a link in this groupchat is like playing russian roulette, and getting rickrolled is a good ending.

Ultimately the resolution of Jason and Cass fights comes down to the fact that while he has his own ideals that don't mesh with the bats, Jason can be flexible. DC skipped the whole reconciliation with the family but while he's willing to kill it's generally a means to an end to him, not the whole entire point unless you're talking about Joker. Meanwhile for Cass the question of killing vs not killing is dead serious to her which means any time they're working together and things start going off track it's like:
Jason: Look if we kill this guy we send a message to his boss which makes it easier for us to negotiate with him from a position of power and I just think that-
Cass, snatching one of his guns and pointing it at her own head: Go on, pull the trigger. Kill him. Kill me. Go tell Batman that you let his daughter die to make a negotiation easier. He already let you die so no problem right? You think we should die? You think our life only worthwhile as part of a plan, just because we're killers? Are we doomed? Are we rotten to the core with no hope of redemption? Go on then, kill us and kill part of your soul alongside it. You clearly don't care for it so why are you even trying? Kill yourself along with us, come on Jason let's all just die right?
Jason, slowly backing away: I think you may be projecting a tiny bit so just. Calm down before I call the suicide hotline please.
Cass, slowly lowering the gun and knocking the random henchman unconscious: Yeah that's what I thought, fucking pussy.
Jason: Mm yeah you know what I hate you actually. Fuck this mission I'll just shoot you right now if you're going to be this annoying about it.
Jason, explaining things later to Dick: So I just kept shooting at her until I ran out of bullets and we both calmed down enough to call a truce. We tracked the guy down and didn't kill anyone but I did blow up the batplane just as a last minute screw you. Is she always this uh... intense?
Dick: Yeah, one time I broke up with Barbara and she threw me out a window. She's just like that.

Stuck on the thought that Bruce tried to be a father for Dick, but Dick didnā€™t want one. He wanted an equal, someone to fight crime with. And consequently, Bruce drove him away with his overbearing nature.
And then Jason came to him, and of course Bruce had to do better this time. He didnā€™t want to lose another child Robin. Only he realized too late that Jason didnā€™t just want to be Batmanā€™s partner, he wanted to be Bruceā€™s son.
((And with Tim he was too scared to even try))
Kay thanks sā€™cuse me while I go cry in a corner goddammit

I can't deny that there's a part of me that's absolutely delighted that each time Bruce unjustly went after Jason, the Batkids responded in kind.
This isn't my ideal version of the Batfam, but it does warm my heart seeing Jason's siblings stand up for him.

ā€œ13th birthday with Graysonā€ vs ā€œ18th birthday with my brother who insists on being embarrassingā€
I feel like Damian would secretly keep a photo album of things happening in his life. It first started with Alfred or Dick taking photos whenever Damian would meet a normal human-child-milestone. Despite not really understanding why the others cared so much, heā€™d have these photos printed and kept neatly in a little album with short descriptions and I feel like those descriptions would slowly become more open and emotional as he would age.

Apparently Willis is alive in the newer comics? I have no idea what's going on there, but I got thinking about it, and-
Willis already knew a lot of dangerous, skilled people. He had a strong enough connection to Lady Shiva for Jason to suspect that she could be his biological mother. Same with a spy.
So. Maybe Willis has some skills. He survives Two-Face and is then offered another job, one that pays a lot better, and he takes it. It was supposed to be a short enough job, but things went a little sideways and it took longer than expected, and then he gets back and his wife is dead and his son is adopted by a billionaire. And what is Willis supposed to do? He can't fight to get his custody back, because no matter how corrupt the systems in Gotham are, no one in their right mind would think that Willis is a better option than Bruce Wayne.
So Willis lets it be. He takes another job. He trains more. Takes another job. Collects every single piece of Jason he can find. Cuts the newest picture out of a newspaper and carries it with him. He trains, becomes more skilled. Takes another job. He looks at Jason's happy, growing face in the newspapers. He cuts them out and puts them in his pocket. He takes a job. He trains. He becomes better. He takes another job.
He looks for Jason in the papers and finds out that his son is dead.
He goes back to Gotham. He visits his baby's grave. He is more skilled now than the last time he was here. He knows how the city works. He lays low and listens.
It doesn't take long for him to figure it all out, not with how much the Joker brags about killing the Bat's little bird.
Willis looks at the pictures of Robin and sees Jason.
All he knows is anger.
No, the Joker is wrong. He didn't kill the Bat's little bird. Not to worry. The Joker will soon learn his mistake.
And after that, so will Batman.
Or, Willis Todd becomes a Batman villain to avenge his son.

Ok so I have this hc that I want other ppl besides me to see, and if anybody wanted to turn this into a fic; I would be yours because I canā€™t write for shit
(This also might trigger some people so please proceed with caution.)
(TW: SA )
ā€¦
Anyway, Iā€™ve always liked the idea of Bruce protecting his kids as Bruce Wayne, so hear me out.
The batfam are at a gala minus Alfred because I see it being someone elseā€™s gala that they have to attend. The POV would start with Tim and jump to Bruce later but I digress..
So Tim is forever 17 and has just come out as Bi and this is the first gala that he attends after that and some grown man comes up to him and starts hitting on him. The man is being very inappropriate with the things heā€™s saying and the way heā€™s touching Tim
And even though Tim is Red Robin; he freezes because heā€™s also Tim Drake and those ideologies are still ingrained into him to not make a scene. Heā€™s extremely uncomfortable trying to get the man to leave him alone and telling him no.
But the man is not backing down continuing to say things like ā€œ Youā€™re bi, so I know you want it.ā€, ā€œDonā€™t be shy. It can be just between you and meā€ and crowding his space.
And Tim is trying to find a way out. Darting his eyes around looking for his siblings but canā€™t seem to find them.
As heā€™s looking around, the man starts walking him back towards the hall. Hands trailing down his stomach getting closer to his inner thigh and he forcibly kisses him. Awareness of what this man is trying to do becomes completely apparent. He tries to push the man away but his body isnā€™t cooperating with him.
Heā€™s scared.
But then he turns his head and seeā€™s Bruce making his way over to him with the deadliest look heā€™s ever seen him have on his face but heā€™s grateful because thatā€™s his dad.. not Brucie, but Bruce, his dad is coming to get him out of this situation.
Then it switches to Bruceā€™s POV
It starts with Bruce in the middle of the gala crowd talking it up as Brucie Wyane and he decides to look around just to check on his kids
He glances over at Dick and Damien together by the food table
Jason and Steph look like their about to do something they shouldnā€™t
Dukes talking to another attendant of the gala
Cass is beside him but heā€™s missing one..
He canā€™t find Tim..
Alarm bells start ringing in his head and he starts to look for Tim more obviously, turning his head left and right. Cass picking up on his distress but not knowing why
Bruce turns his whole body to the back of the gala room and thatā€™s where he finds Tim being crowded by a member of the gala. His immediate instinct is to go to him but stops himself because heā€™s trying to learn how to give his kids more freedom, and he knows Tim can handle himself. So he stops for a second and takes in the situation.
But the longer he looks he sees that Tim, his son, is completely frozen. A look on his face that says he needs help but canā€™t get out the words to ask for it. His eyes are darting around frantically like heā€™s looking for someone. As heā€™s about to take a step to go help Tim he freezes because the man is walking him back towards the hall way with his hands inching further and further down his stomach dangerously close to places his hands donā€™t need to be and forcibly kisses him.
He sees Tim squirming trying to push the man away.
and Bruce realizes this manā€™s intentions.
Tim, his son, is about to be assaulted. The same thing that happened to himself that he couldnā€™t get out of.. is about to happen to Tim. And he sees the moment Tim recognizes it to in his eyes.
Bruce wastes no more time, he completely ignores the people he was once in a conversation with as they ask him where heā€™s going. Heā€™s walking quickly towards his son when they make eye contact, he sees the relief wash over his body.
He reaches the man and grabs him. The man turns his head looking like heā€™s about to say something but blanches from seeing who it is. He doesnā€™t get a chance to say anything because as soon as he faces Bruce, He gets punched so hard he falls over. The rest of the gala has frozen because Brucie Wyane is punching some random man for seemingly no reason.
And Bruce keeps going, because for once he was there in time to protect one of his kids. The rest of the batfam comes over trying to forcibly pull Bruce off the man. None of them knowing why Bruce started punching the man but knowing one thing..
There is a reason.
When they finally get Bruce off the man. Bruce instantly turns to Tim hugging his son, holding him. Tim is in shock as Bruce keeps asking him if heā€™s alright. Tim not responding but looks directly into Bruceā€™s eyes. The manā€™s blood on Bruceā€™s knuckles. The complete look of worry written on Bruceā€™s face as he holds Timā€™s in his hands.
And Tim just.. sinks into his arms and holds on so tight to Bruce because his fathers here. His father saved him. Heā€™s okay, Heā€™ll be okay.
The police get called and the man is taken away and they all go home early. That night though, Bruce goes to Timā€™s room to check up on him and talk.
He makes sure Tim is okay and finds Tim blaming himself for not being able to get away.
ā€œIā€™m Red Robin! I have fought worse people than him and won. But all that was going through my head at the time was Jack and Janet ā€œDonā€™t make a sceneā€ and I froze. I couldnā€™t get away, I tried but my body wouldnā€™t listen. I wanted to call out but my voice closed up and I was looking around to- ā€
Bruce interrupts him
ā€œ Itā€™s not your fault, you did what you could. This is not your fault Tim, Itā€™s his fault for forcing himself on you. Iā€™ve been there, I know how you feel. itā€™ll be okay. I promise, Iā€™m right here.ā€
Tim looks at Bruce because he didnā€™t know that
ā€œYouā€™ve been.. who?ā€
Bruce just looks at him. Heā€™s doesnā€™t need to say anything because he knows Tim will understand anyway. Heā€™s smart like that.
ā€œoh.. Does that mean- ā€
Bruce cuts him off again
ā€œYes, but it was a long time ago, you donā€™t need to know because Iā€™m okay now. And I want you to know I understand. But can we just keep this between us? No one else needs to know about that, especially Damien.ā€
ā€œYea B. For what itā€™s worth, Iā€™m sorry that happened to you.ā€
ā€œMe too, but at least I got Damien from it, and I love him just as much as I love you. You are both my children and I would do anything to try to protect you.ā€
ā€œThanks B.ā€ He leans in to hug Bruce and they just hold onto each other for a little longer.
ā€œIā€™ll let you go to sleep chum. Good night Timā€ he says as he kisses Timā€™s head and ruffles his hair. He heads to the door and turns to look back at Tim
ā€œGoodnight dad.ā€ He says with a small smile
Bruce freezes for a second and sighs with a slight smile on his face. He looks at Tim one last time for the night with all his love for him shining in his eyes and closes the door to go to his room.
By the end of there talk Tim and Bruce are closer than ever because he not only learned something new about Bruce. He now feels more secure in his place in the manor, in the family, as Bruceā€™s son.

What if Skulker was Willis Todd all along? (Prompt)
Skulker is one of many ghosts who do not remember his time alive. In fact, it was odder for those formed from deceased beings to have memories, as their final moments shaped their ghost. Ember burned in a fire, but she could not remember where, when, or how that fire happened. Johnny 13 and Kitty were on a motorbike when they died, but they do not know where they had been heading or what had caused their accident.
Spectra feeds on human misery, but why that made her young and beautiful is a mystery to her. All Box Ghost could recall was the call of the cube-shaped spaces and the flashing word "Beware" before he popped up in the Realms.
Most ghosts hated not knowing, like Johnny 13, Young Blood, and Ember. This fueled their urge to run to the human world and find answers. While there, they desperately attempted to win the humans' acknowledgment.
Maybe they thought that if the living paid attention to them, they wouldn't fade away, even if none of them knew their names.
It was something Skulker never understood. He was dead. There was no changing that fact. Why would he pine for a life he could not remember and never hold? Why would he allow his eternal existence to be wasted chasing a light in an unknown darkness?
For the first few days, months, and years, time was strange in the Realms; it was aimless and meaningless. Skulker had formed as an unfinished ghost, barely avoiding being a blob ghost. He isn't sure why, and none of the very few medical specialists in the Realms understood either.
Millions of locations had doctors and medical knowledge, but most citizens of the Infinite Realms were not the kindest to outsiders. Skulker learned early on that one didn't just approach a territory for aid. Not unless you were the Ghost Child.
The only tribe that had a theory was the Far Frozen. They had allowed Skulker to consult them, but the Yetis were not exactly welcoming to Outsiders. They only spoke and aided ice-core ghosts, so even though they might have figured out what was wrong with him, the yetis had refused to conduct any treatment past some basic testing.
"You sent your Core Ectoplasm away." The large Yeti told him. They had refused to grant Skulker the honor of learning their names. He wasn't worthy enough with his barren core.
"What do you mean I sent it away?"
"Exactly that. You sent what should have helped take shape somewhere else when you were forming." The Yeti considers the charts with narrow eyes. "It looks like it was a last thought before you died. Pity, but this is what was left, and that's why you will look like this forever. You might have been powerful, but Fate had different plans."
Skulker had been trying to process that while the Yeti hummed. "Well, if anything else, we can put you to good use."
That caused his head to snap up. "What do you mean?"
"Our young need to practice hunting, and you will be the perfect target for the smallest ones." The Yeti's sharp smile was as cold as the land which it held from. "Do make the chase a good one for a being as little as you."
Skulker had barely escaped that hell hole with his Core intact. As the yeti's children howled and sneered behind him, he was suddenly hit with the thought.
The little guy is always the prey in this hellish existence. No matter how hard you try, how much you drink, gamble, or swindle, you can not rise above your station.
The words feel like a distant dream but are as real as fact.
It filled him with rage. He doesn't know where the resentment came from, but when Skulker reached the edge of the Far Frozen territory, he vowed to never be anyone else's prey again.
Skulker would be the Realm's greatest hunter, and no one would know his proper form. They would cower when they saw him, not snicker and dismiss. It took him years to build the perfect body, but he had plenty of time in the Realms.
He never allowed where his Core Ectoplasm went to cross his mind again as years passed and his prey grew more immense, dangerous, and fun to chase. Even the Ghost Child's insufferable ability to evade him did not make him think about it.
That was until the Welp ran off to another human city, and when Skulker had rightfully gone to claim his pelt, he found himself staring at a young man who held his Core Ectoplasm. There he was, walking on the street like the other humans, staring right back at the battling ghosts with an open jaw.
He was at the most in his mid-twenties, built similarly to Skulker's battle suit, but had soft blue eyes and the strangest white streak of white in his hair. He had no idea who the human was, as there was no way he was worth anything for a good hunt, but Skulker could feel his Core Ectoplasm holding the man together.
That was his existence, and that should have given him a proper ghost body being used as glue to a random human who wasn't even a Halfa!
Why had he sent it to him when he had died?
Skulker was so shocked that he hadn't even thought to dodge when the Ghost child threw back his mini-missiles at him. The explosion had sent him flying in the opposite direction of the man, which was just about the time the humans finally started to panic and run amok.
Skulker lost the stranger in the crowd, but now that he knew he was out there, he would stop at nothing to find answers.
(Willis Todd was not a kind man. He had been horrible to the mother of his child, to his son, and to his wife. He had been born at the rotten bottom of Gotham's social ladders, where the little guys were used and discarded like toilet paper. He tried to get himself out of it by any means but something always beat him back into place.
He grew bitter.
He loved his son and wife, but his anger could not be controlled. It was louder than his love ever could be. It always guided his hand and hurt everything around him until his son flinched whenever he entered his room, and his wife lost herself to the needles.
Still, Willis could not bring himself to let the anger go. He hated himself even more as days passed, and his rage grew bigger and bigger until he could no longer think without snapping.
He was arrested, slipped through the cracks in the system, and wrongfully marked for dead among the cells. He knew no more of his wife or son until years later when Jason's bright-eyed face appeared in the newspaper. Willis had been shocked to find out Catherine had died while he was aware and Jason had lived on the streets. Now, he was one of the sons of one of the wealthiest men alive.
Willis's anger was still there, but so was his heartbreak. There was something wrong with him. Something that would have choked and slaughtered Jason if he stuck around. So he folded the newspaper, put it back on the tabletop for another inmate to read, and swore to himself that he would never go near Jason again, even if one day he was released.
Years later, he reads a week-old paper to find out Jason had been killed in an explosion while overseas. His body was so severely damaged that Bruce Wayne had buried him in a fast funeral, and Willis hadn't even known his son was dead.
The rage had snapped.
It clouded his mind as he slammed his head over and over again on the wall until nasty cracks were heard. The blood dripping down his face and over his tongue drowned out the taste of his tears.
The guards tried to stop him, but it was too late.
His last thought before death took him was, "I would give anything to take Jason's place; if any Todd deserves to breathe again, it should be him. If I could just give him what he needed to live."
The second Willis' eyes closed miles away, Jason's snapped open within a coffin, and the gentle green glow of his skin brought the problems of a man who loved him but only as much as he could)

I'm bad at math, but is Bruce theoretically 38 years old when he goes into the time stream?
Hear me out (and canon likes to fluncate their ages, so this is my best guess without trying to account for birthdays):
Bruce becomes the legal guardian of 9 year old Dick when he's 23. That's a 14 year difference.
Jason becomes Robin when Dick leaves at 18. Jason is 13. That's a five year difference.
Jason dies at 15, and Tim becomes Robin at 13. That's a two year difference.
The age difference between Tim and Bruce would thus be 21 years.
Tim becomes Red Robin to find Bruce at 17.
That means that Bruce had to be 38, right? Why was I imagining him closer to 50?
Adopting so many kids must have aged him

Slightly dark/insane batfam who is overjoyed to have Jason back from death is one of my favorite aus ever. Like imagine Bruce being oh so proud of his son who ended entire gangs and built an empire in a matter of months before he even turned 19. Ofc he's gonna brag to this fellow JL members. His kid is just so driven and smart! Jason has no idea if they were always like this or if his death made them this way but he's not complaining (much).
Ooo that would be interesting!
Like, a Batman who still doesnā€™t kill and adheres to his moral code but has absolutely no problem if his kids turn murderous. Heā€™s a proud and supportive dad either way, the only rule he has is that they keep it strictly to criminals and leave alone the regular civilians.
He went a little cuckoo when he lost Jason. As did Dick. (And Tim wasnā€™t sane either way lmao)

PJO/HOO Hot Take -
So Iā€™ve been seeing a lot of discussion about whoā€™s the best godly parent, specifically father, in PJO. Most people either say Hades, Poseidon, or Apollo and imo those are all incorrect, hereā€™s why -
1. HADES - straight up, while he payed child support (shocking), he alsoā€¦
- told his only living child (Nico) that he wished heā€™d died instead of his sister
- has manipulated him many times, stole his and Biancaā€™s memories (ethics on this can be debated)
- basically did exactly what Hermes did to Luke and May but with Hazel and Marie
2. POSEIDON - didnā€™t even pay child support smh
- only began a relationship with Percy after he was singled out by Zeus ( + didnā€™t defend him in the slightest)
- only continued said relationship because of necessity
- left Sally and Percy without any defences making them turn to a literal abuser for help
- generally just a deadbeat dad, also what about his other kids? Last PJO book he admits he has like 13 demigod kids and we just..never see them? (Uncle Rick probs forgot but Iā€™m still blaming Poseidon for continuity or smth)
3. APOLLO - while he does care about his children he alsoā€¦
- wasnā€™t there for the funerals of any of his kids
- had never even spoken to most of his kids despite having visited camp on multiple occasions
- straight up only started fathering after being turned mortal and he wasnā€™t even good at it (of course people grow, Iā€™m not hating on Apollo/Lester as a character just as a father)
Rather, the best dad in the series has been there since day 1 - Dionysus. Hereā€™s why imo -
- Has been present in both his sons lives since birth, as well as having essentially joint-custody of them
- literally just the whole thing about Castors funeral after the titan war
- genuinely cared about them and claimed all his children without being asked (those were the only 2 he had)
- as well as making sure they were safe and cared for (aside from the war but shit happens)
- understands the issues that come with being a demigod/parenting a demigod because he was one himself
- thereā€™s more but I have a hand cramp rn so yea
