Dick: Anyone heard from Red Hood? He went silent about thirty minutes ago.

Tim: He’s good.

Dick: How do you know?

Tim: He’s sitting beside me. We’re down by the docks. I’m doing surveillance on a possible drug trafficking ring and he’s finishing an essay that is due tomorrow.

Dick: *silence*

Bruce: Why is Red Hood doing your essays?

Tim: It’s not mine. It’s his. He has a essay on Jane Eyre and how it’s linked to feminism and whether or not that is true now days due tomorrow.

Dick: He’s going to college?

Bruce: He’s leaving an easy until the last minute?

Tim: Yes he’s going to college. Online classes. He’s not leaving it until the last minute on purpose. He’s had three cases tied up in the last 5 days and hasn’t had a chance to tighten up his argument.

Stephanie: What his arguement?

Jason: That while Jane Eyre would have been a proto-feminist story for it’s time, when looked at with a modern eye it still holds a lot of traditional, patriarchal views. Now can you all be quiet, I need 5 more minutes and I’m done.

Two Weeks Later

Stephanie: Hey Jason, did you get you essay marks back?

Jason: Yep, 95%. I think that the Professor has it against me.

Alfred: Master Jason we’ve been through this, the King isn’t the true villian in the play Medea.

Jason: The man took Medea’s husband from her and banished her and her children putting her in a situation where she was in crisis, resulting in her poor mental health and judgement! What hero does that shit!

Dp x dc fic idea: Danny and Wes, who were dating/married, are reincarnated as Jason and Kyle. For some reason, though, Danny was born Jason, the detective-trained, intelligent one, and Wes is the space police, art kid. Some other characters also reincarnate but they and Ellie are the main ones, I think.

After Jason takes a swim in the pit pool, he starts having weird dreams where he was a couple of ghost hunters' son. He assumes it's some side effect of his childhood trauma mixed with magic green water. He supposes it will pass and shrugs it off.

He supposed bad.

As day pass and his head gets clearer his dreams get more and more vivid. And crazier. Apparently, his dream! him it's not only the town's ghost hunters' son, but also a half-ghost hero, the king of a whole dimension, and has a clone. A clone, who is a girl.

He tries not to think too much about it, but those dreams left him feeling so nostalgic. Like there was a time when his normality was fighting ghost with a vegan goth girl and a tech geek genius, occasionally ruining a billionaire's plan.

He tells himself it's nothing. That it's just a reflection of his traumas and desires.

It doesn't work.

Of course, it blows up on his face, as things tend to do.

He's walking through the league's passageways when he sees her. Dark hair, big eyes, tanned skin, brows furrowing— A kid.

A little girl, not arrives at his waist even, with short hair and a sword in hand, facing a trained assassin. An assassin who's about to stab her— or was, before something green and burning came out of his hand, knocking him down.

"What the fuck".

The girl is looking at him.

"Language". She seems to be fine but he's not sure, he'll ask Talia to check her later, but now— "I'm walking out and lighting up this place, wanna come?"

Her eyes wide up and shouts an incredulous look at him, then a contemplating one. Then at the corpse, then at him again. She does that three times more before she shrugs, "Sure".

honestly one of the main reasons I like dc is that they can’t keep a storyline straight for shit. anything I don’t like is just *not real*. that’s different storyline babes what are you talking about???

like at this point I can consider shit like wfa and hell even well written fanfics as canon bc who knows what’s going on with those funky little people?? certainly not the dc writers

You know the “Dad, How Do I?” YouTube channel? Yeah, that, but with Red Hood, and they’re unlisted videos that Crime Alley residents share with each other.

It started with goons stealthily taking videos of Red Hood ranting about shitty drug quality that they upload under the title “Boss on drug quality control,” primarily for other goons so that anyone can tell if the supplies have been cut with something and don’t need to waste time asking Hood.

Then videos from civilians start popping up too, featuring Red Hood lecturing street kids titled things like “RH on staying warm in winter” and “RH on how not to get mugged.”

Memorably, there’s a video titled “RH on classic literature (y’all did RH go to college???? Is our crime lord a lit major???)” where Red Hood imparts upon some kids the importance of reading. After a very positive reception, the uploader goes back to Red Hood, asks about a book they’re reading for school, and gets a whole lecture on themes and whatnot. It does numbers and becomes a series, and this time Hood knows the camera exists (he’s always known they exist, he just couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge them) and actually talks to it.

(Jason will do anything to help these children, whether it’s giving them a leg up in school, giving the street kids who aren’t in school some semblance of an education, or teaching them how to shank someone trying to traffic them.)

Red Hood never uploads any videos himself, but it doesn’t matter. Crime Alley crowd sourced its own version of Khan academy and it’s better for it.
