Undercover High School

TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2025
Undercover High School (2025, South Korea)
Director: Choi Jung In
Writer: Im Young Bin
Mini-review:
This was exactly as fun as I hoped it would be. The writing did rely a bit too much on coincidences and small plot holes, but the characters and the story itself were entertaining as hell. I particularly enjoyed the whole thing about the urban legends and how they play into the mission, which is an original twist on the undercover spy trope. But really, the best thing about the show might be its cast. Seo Kang Joon is finally back and proving he's the perfect action hero, while Jin Ki Joo brings a lot of energy and spunk. Oh, and Kim Shin Rok makes for a delightful villain as well. So, even if Undercover High School isn't perfect, it will offer you a superfun experience filled to the brim with laughs and thrills.

WHEN THE PHONE RINGS
GENRES: Romance, Drama
SUMMARY: A lifetime of miscommunication causes untimely deaths, failed political campaigns, and a confusing marriage.
THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Amusement parks, car crashes, hacking, phone modulators, team retreats, uncomfortable silences, heterochromia, unrestricted chaebol power, fishing, Korean sign language, and shotguns.
HOT TAKE: I know this is a romantic drama and by definition it will be dramatic, but I can't help shake the feeling that rooting for a marriage that was sustained on three years of gaslighting, passive verbal abuse, and negging might not be the best idea.
It's always surprising to me when a romance's mystery b-plots are more intriguing that the romance itself. What a tornado of whodunnits, howdunnits, and who isn't telling!
I can't help but celebrate the ending for our two MLs, but the journey getting there was so toxic (both from their own actions and the actions around them) that I'm not really sure how to process my happiness for them.
This might cause some hot-take uproar, but I really disliked the final episode. There was so many disjointed parts that it felt like one of those dreams you have when you're feverishly sick that misinterprets whatever is on TV in the room. Someone defend it for me to help me make sense of it all.

Jang Geum, Oh My Grandma / Dae Jang Geum Is Watching. 7
Story: 6-7
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10❤️
Comparable to: Let’s Eat (kdrama); Drinking Solo (kdrama)
What could’ve been a cute cheesy romcom became a hot mess romcom at the end. One word of advice, do not watch this drama before eating or if you’re trying to diet, cause oof this show makes you want to eat. The storyline at first is your typical cheese fest bordering on a toothache filled of cliches. It’s weirdly unique where they break out in songs sometimes, why? who knows but it’s funny. There’s multiple couples in this, main leads, then another couple which were pretty cute. When it comes to the mid to last way mark is where it all falls apart with the mains storyline. (Some mild spoilers) I guess the writers decided the wanted more angst and thought it would be fun to set the main female lead up in a fun love triangle with both brothers. It just gets weird, the writing felt off the way they wrote it, I don’t know, most of it i fast forward through then. It’s not he worst but wish it had a better last half since both main leads Shin Dong Wook and YuRi had excellent chemistry together. The other couple Lee Yeol Eum and Lee Min Hyuk were great together too.

Pick Nine: Characters I Dream About
I was tagged by @my-rose-tinted-glasses in this post thank you! 💖
When I see attractive actors in specific roles/characters that I like, and I start going crazy about them, then, if I already imagine them, dream about them, fantasize about them, I create entire stories, fanfictions in my head with their participation, or fill in missing scenes in the series or movies. Especially when the dynamics of the characters are exceptionally tempting and irresistible. I also sometimes "borrow" characters for completely original stories 😛 That's why my choices in this game are: couples that have a dynamic that is perfectly my type, which automatically makes me think about them and fantasize about them, and characters that are my type, who made a huge impression on me, about whom I thought and fantasized for a long time (either with their partners in series, or I put them in some other universe with an originally created male character). I don't know if this makes any sense 😅
Of course there won't be 9 characters, because it's hard for me to choose.
In first place are 3 couples that are made to dream about and fantasize about and the reasons for many of my sleepless nights:
The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity
Beyond Evil
High School Frenemy / School 2013
My Engineer - RamKing I love these characters and their dynamics Where Your Eyes Linger - such a classic yaoi, I love it LeoFiat - ok, hear me out: I don't really like their story, I hate Fiat's storyline in TharnType, I haven't even finished Don't Say No. But the dynamic of this couple, plus the actors are so much my style. Since the execution sucked, I prefer to fantasize about them :) We Are - PhumPeem, I thought about Phum a lot when the series aired, a hot hunk following his boo like a dog somehow always gets me lol, also: Pond 🥰
4 Minutes - so rarely seen complex, complicated, ambiguous, super sexy characters. What can I do. My hands are tied. I can dream about them all day long
LaCuisine - SkyPaitong, I would give one kidney for a series with them, or at least more scenes. I created a lot of fanfics about them in my head
Our Dining Table - supposedly a calm, domestic couple devoid of visible sexual tension, but surprisingly this couple turned out to be pretty "fanficogenic" for me. Maybe because of their maturity?
Word of Honor - Ye Ba Yi this dude is just 🔥
On1y One - Tian, such a perfect material for school fanfiction Unintentional Love Story - Tae Joon
Jun & Jun - as a couple and especially Choi Jun
Love in Translation - Yang, let's be honest, it's just Daou playing a really cool guy, so it's like a whole package 😎 Semantic Error - Jang Jae Yeong, the moment I saw Park Seo Ham and how he plays this character, I was gone, like poof! gone
Be Loved in The House: I Do - Jin Yu Zhen, same thing, when I saw Aaron, I was cooked
This time I'm not tagging anyone, but whoever sees this post, feel invited to join the game and have fun! 😘

Immortal Being that Still Somehow has Parent Issues: Myul Mang/Doom (Doom at your Service) Lee Yeon & Lee Rang (Tale of the Nine Tailed) Jeong Gu-won (My Demon)
Added trauma flavour: Parent was murdered in front of them (**Still counts if they survived the murder Parent tried to murder them Dying from seemingly incurable disease which makes their parents/guardian sad (If your parents are alive, you must pay for it by dying yourself) Adoptive parent/stepparent is THE WORST
Somehow has normal, alive parents: Lee Jun-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Has no backstory at all. We only meet his older sister and hear nothing about his childhood.) Shin Ha-ri (Business Proposal, her family is refreshingly normal, right down to her brother being sent out to find her when she's drunk) Oh Han-byeol (Sh**ting Stars, Again, we know almost nothing about her family, only that she has twin sisters. But she doesn't appear to have childhood trauma.) Park Yeon-woo (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, her mom being annoyed at her for something that is a crime doesn't count as bad parenting) Lee Young-joon/Sung-hyun (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, his trauma comes from a kidnapper, his parents faced a pretty impossible situation and did their best. They clearly love their kids) Baek Hyun-woo (Queen of Tears, nothing wrong with them out of the ordinary and they are in the drama a significant amount.) Ha Eun-gyeol (Twinkling Watermelon, very loving parents and the deafness and their reliance on him is not anyone's fault)
*Counting her as an orphan even though she gets her parents back after 20 years, she spent her childhood orphaned. ***This character is tricky because I understand why her mother wanted nothing to do with her, but her trying to manipulate the dad and also saying he didn't raise her properly made me so angry. ****This character is tricky because he was explicitly raised as an orphan by his grandma, his father didn't sign his birth certificate (Korean equivalent of this), and he's registered as the child of his grandmother, not his actual mom. His grandma is dead by the beginning of the series and he is living alone without family, so I think he counts as an orphan.
Uncatagorized due to lack of clarity on parents: Soundtrack #1, Hospital Playlist, Happiness
#kdramas#so many orphans#you would think that Korean children never have parents who make it to 60#if they manage to be alive they are the worst

Happiness series review: watch it or skip it?
I loved Happiness from the get-go because of its unexpected and thrilling development. I originally thought it to be a love story, but as it turned out, it was like a lengthier version of Train to Busan with all the breakouts and infections in the Le Ciel apartment complex.
Sae Bom and Yi Hyun had great chemistry together, and I thought they complimented each other very nicely. When faced with challenges, such as the diseased or the privileged, self-centered inhabitants of the posh complex, one was quick to act and hotheaded, while the other was calm and collected.
Yi Hyun, Park Hyun Sik's character in his return to the small screen after military service, was endearing and fierce. He was endearing, constantly tried to do the right thing, and always defended Sae Bom residents. He engaged armed military personnel and risked their lives for money, demonstrating his commitment to protecting residents with intellectual disabilities.
Sae Bom, a wild and provocation-prone lady, was entertaining to see how she responded when her husband needed assistance. Their encounters with the people, as well as their deep ties, made their job simpler. The connection between the pair was on display in the final two shows, when they acknowledged their affections for one other. Although the love tale was postponed, the emotional scenes were nonetheless memorable. The pandemic was used to create the tone and make the infection more powerful for viewers.
Joo Hyung and Yeon Ok played wickedness, corruption, and manipulation, respectively, in a well-rounded ensemble. The personalities were varied, including selfish, apathetic, and innocent individuals with varying survival objectives. Overall, the drama was engrossing and upsetting to witness.
In his film Happiness, Lee Joon Hyuk explores the challenges Sae Bom, Yi Hyun, and Jang Gyuk face when saving monsters from themselves. The supporting characters, especially Na Soo Min, are well-portrayed and stand up for their acts. Han Tae Seok, a callous government officer, is outstanding for his compassion and severe judgments that endanger the central characters' lives. The pace is appropriate for 12 episodes, and although there are still loose ends in the last episode, the finale is worth the stress. The soundtrack isn't very memorable.
One of the best dramas of 2021 is Happiness, which explores the question of who the real monsters are when tragedy confronts mankind. The series includes many creatures, not simply ones with neck-biting skills.

The battle in the basement of the apartment building, where we see Nam-san use a shotgun to blast his way through some of the doctor’s ‘enhanced’ individuals, is a total exhilarating blast. Ma Dong-seok has been a powerhouse for most of his career post Train to Busan, but he sends people flying whenever he throws his fist or pulls the trigger. _Badland Hunters_ also has to break a record for most decapitations in a film. **Full review:** https://bit.ly/bdlndhntr MovieGuys: Badland Hunters does something things well, others just passably. Action is wall to wall and well choreographed.Special effects are excellent. Characterisations are solid if predictable and the acting is not to be sniffed at. However, the story is unremarkable, with a climax that feels, well, anti climatic. In summary, an okay but hardly exceptional watch, that would have benefited from more creativity on the storytelling front. Ritesh Mohapatra: “Badland Hunters: A Visually Striking Action Spectacle with Narrative Shortcomings” In this post-apocalyptic action thriller, Badland Hunters, while suffering from a repetitive and clichéd plot and uninteresting characters, excels in stunning hand-to-hand choreography and scintillating action set pieces. The film benefits greatly from the expertise of its veteran stunt coordinator turned director, known for his work on Train to Busan. Commendable world-building, visionary concepts, and excellent VFX are hindered by conventional writing. The short, crisply edited runtime avoids unnecessary elements. Don Lee’s exceptional portrayal of Nam-san, with exhilarating action sequences, overshadows the film’s narrative weaknesses, making it a guiltily satisfying popcorn-worthy entertainer, particularly for adrenaline enthusiasts. Behind Your Touch Episode 16: Han Ji Min & Lee Min Ki Solve the Mystery and Find Love

Behind Your Touch Episode 16 was the finale of the popular JTBC drama that starred Han Ji Min, Lee Min Ki, and Suho. The series combined comedy, thriller, and fantasy elements to tell the story of a psychic veterinarian and a hot-blooded detective who teamed up to solve crimes in a small town. The last episode wrapped up the main plot and gave a satisfying ending to the characters and their relationships.
The Culprit and His Motive

(Photo : JTBC Official Instagram) The mystery behind the serial murders in Mujin was finally revealed in Behind Your Touch Episode 16. The culprit was none other than Park Jong Bae (Park Hyuk Kwon), the shaman who had been helping the police with his fake psychic abilities. He was actually a psychopath who enjoyed killing people and animals for fun. He had been using Bong Ye Bun’s (Han Ji Min) power to read the memories of his victims and manipulate them. He also had a personal motive for his crimes. He blamed Moon Jang Yeol (Lee Min Ki) for the death of his son, who was killed by a car accident while Jang Yeol was chasing a suspect. He wanted to make Jang Yeol suffer by killing his friends and colleagues, such as Cha Ju Man (Lee Seung Joon), Jung Eui Hwan (Yang Jae Seong), and Kim Seon Woo (Suho). He also kidnapped Bae Ok Hee (Joo Min Kyung), Ye Bun’s best friend, and tried to kill her.
The Final Showdown

(Photo : JTBC Official Instagram) Ye Bun and Jang Yeol managed to track down Jong Bae and rescue Ok Hee in Behind Your Touch Episode 16. They also confronted him about his crimes and his motive. Jong Bae admitted that he was the killer and that he enjoyed playing with their lives. He also revealed that he had killed Seon Woo, who was Ye Bun’s crush and Jang Yeol’s suspect. Jong Bae then tried to escape by stabbing random people on the street, but Ye Bun used her power to locate him. She bravely faced him and held him at knifepoint, demanding him to surrender. Jang Yeol arrived soon after and shot Jong Bae in the leg, arresting him for good.
The Happy Ending

(Photo : JTBC Official Instagram) After solving the case, Ye Bun and Jang Yeol returned to their normal lives in Mujin. They also confessed their feelings for each other and started dating. They had a cute and sweet relationship, despite their different personalities and lifestyles. They also continued to work together on minor cases, using Ye Bun’s power and Jang Yeol’s skills. They became a famous duo in Mujin, earning the respect and admiration of the people. The other characters also had their happy endings in Behind Your Touch Episode 16. Ok Hee recovered from her trauma and became more confident and cheerful. She also opened her own hair salon with the help of her friends. Won Jong Mook (Kim Hee Won) and Jung Hyeon Ok (Park Sung Yeon) got married and rekindled their love. Na Mi Ran (Jung Yi Rang) divorced her cheating husband and found a new love interest. Bae Deok Hee (Jo Min Guk) became a successful detective and moved to Seoul. The finale episode ended with a humorous scene of Ye Bun and Jang Yeol running away from a group of angry female prisoners, whom Ye Bun had read their memories for Jang Yeol’s investigation.
The Netizens’ Reactions

(Photo : JTBC) The viewers of Behind Your Touch Episode 16 were satisfied with the finale and praised the cast and crew for their excellent work. They also expressed their love for the drama and its unique genre mix. Here are some of their comments: - “This drama was so fun and refreshing. I loved the chemistry between Han Ji Min and Lee Min Ki. They were so cute together.” - “I’m glad they caught the killer and revealed his motive. He was so creepy and evil. I’m going to miss it so much.” - “Han Ji Min is such a versatile actress. She can do any genre and role. She was so charming as Ye Bun. Lee Min Ki was also amazing as Jang Yeol.
