PRIMOS episode 19b: SUMMER OF LOS BOTS (2024) Here are some of my storyboards from the most recent episode of Primos, The Summer of Los Bots! (don't worry theres more to come!) This was a very silly episode that I had a lot of fun with. I really enjoyed doing the Tater Ironman suit up scene, the giant mech fight, and of course the adorable robot frog army! You can see in the first drawing there was a joke about cousin bud trimming a bush to look like Gordita that was ultimately cut for time, but the shrub remains in the episode! Bud and Gordita are some of my favorite characters, so this one was a lot of fun to work on! As always, shout out to Natasha, David, Ainsley, and the whole Primos crew!

the pjo fandom on tumblr vs tiktok is so funny cause we've all (or most of us) have already read the entire series, we know what's going to happen so we can see the parallels and the tragedy behind it but on tiktok???

they're in love with Luke

they think he's so kind and nice and its wonderful he's percy's friend, there's no way that he'd be evil - I've seen theories that annabeth is going to be the one who betrays percy (prior to ep4)

the tonal shift is insane and I can't wait to see all these first time viewers lose their fucking minds

headcanon that percy is historically hard to beat at monopoly. and it's intially the most mind-boggling thing ever watching him turn the tide of a game. because he's definitely losing at the beginning. but percy is not only an amazing strategist. he has a deep understanding of money and knows how and when to bet on the board. he knows when to test his luck. and he's amazing at getting into people's head.

forget her just standing there gasping for air. forget her very audible sigh. forget the fact that annabeth initiates 80% of their kisses and literally has to restrain herself from kissing him in front of all of New Rome in MoA. i could go on and on about how many times percy calls her beautiful and attractive (let’s not forget how his heart races and his skin tingles at her touch) and all his boyfriend-ly thoughts about her, but lets focus on annabeth for a sec. BECAUSE ANNABETH CHASE IS GRUNT-WHIMPERING??

our girl was feeling ALL the things in this scene. she’s so weak in the knees for him that she can’t even hide it in front of piper. also percy must be a fantastic kisser? BECAUSE GRUNT-WHIMPER??

do not EVER tell me percy and annabeth don’t have romantic feelings for each other. do not EVER tell me it’s purely platonic. if you’re someone who thinks “nah i can’t see them getting married and having kids cause i don’t think they feel that way about each other” you clearly did not read about the grunt-whimper (well, you can hc whatever you want. i respect all opinions. but i do think you need to re-consider and account for the grunt-whimper)

BECAUSE GRUNT-WHIMPER?? ONE GOOD KISS FROM PERCY IS MAKING ANNABETH CHASE GRUNT-WHIMPER?? IS THAT RICK’S “CHILD-APPROPRIATE” WAY OF SAYING SHE MOANED?? HE SHOULD HAVE JUST SAID SHE MOANED. GRUNT-WHIMPER IS SO MUCH WORSE. THAT GOES SO FAR BEYOND A MOAN. A MOAN IS TAME COMPARED TO A GRUNT-WHIMPER.

Something I think about a lot is how Rick Riordan very rarely uses "girlfriend/boyfriend" to refer to Percy and Annabeth within their perspectives. They're so intertwined, even Annabeth says in hoh that the word boyfriend isn't strong enough, because Percy was a part of her. They are a singular soul, too wrapped around each others' fates that regular labels are far too weak for them. But, Rick Riordan uses "boyfriend" a lot in Nico and Wills perspectives, not because they love each other less than percabeth, but to show how much the word means to them. Nico uses it any chance he gets- "his boyfriend," "he actually had a boyfriend," because Nico has never been able to say that before. Their struggle with their queer identities mixed with Nico's catholic guilt and chronic everyone-hates-me disease makes the fact that he has someone to call his actual boyfriend so much more important to his character development.

1. Demi gods have the life expectancy of a lemming.

2. Gifted kids often burn out by age 16 & I doubt any of the Athena teens have the energy or desire to argue with their little sister who willingly takes care of all the family paperwork.

PRIMOS episode 16a: SUMMER OF LA HAMACA (2024) Yo! This was one of my most favorite episodes to storyboard of the entire show! The whole episode takes place in the backyard on a hot summer day as a demonic Hammock slowly possesses all of the Primos, one by one. Directed as always by the amazing David C Smith @daveofthedead

And the first half was boarded by my incredible storyboarding partner Ainsley Dye! Also I got to work with Natasha Kline @natashakline directly on this one! I did rough storyboards for the inside the hammock fantasy sequence, and then she came in and storyboarded that scene with us! ((That's her drawing of Tater in the Midsommer Flower Dress))

It was so much fun!

People talk about how “overpowered” and freaky some of the physical feats in PJO and HOO are but I think people forget that all demigods inherently have enhanced, speed, agility, and strength. So at lot of these physical feats actually make a lot of sense in their “power scaling.”

And I know a lot of people like talk about the Lois Arc jump because that is insane but there are a lot of other feats that show off the enhanced attributes some of the other demigods have.

Like, Hazel ran after a Arion, the fastest horse alive for a WHOLE day. Hours upon hours on end. And even if Arion WASN’T the fastest horse he’s still. A horse. That Hazel was able to keep up with. And then run all the way home.

Reyna EASILY knocks away giant werewolves with a knife and used her javelin like a pole vault. Annabeth managed to fight Kronos, a whole ass Titan, to a standstill. And she’s been shown to perform moves only professional acrobatic and gymnast can do. Piper threw a fifty pound shield at Medea and was described to move fast as a viper.

Jason had dodged arrows that have appeared out of no where, no warning, and Percy has side stepped bullets. BULLETS.

Not to mention that with the Lycaon and werewolves they were all out running and keeping up with WOLVES.

So, yeah, demigods have freaky physical feats.

my favourite thing about the necklace scene is that. it's not new. LIKE. it's not something unique to the show. it happened in the books. but nOBODY TALKED ABOUT IT. MAINLY BECAUSE PERCY FRAMED IT AS SUCH AN OFF-HANDED COMMENT THAT NOBODY REALLY THOUGHT MUCH OF IT. but it happened. and percy was probably just as i-will-die-if-i-take-my-eyes-off-her-for-even-one-second in the books AND i think this just speaks to how inherently oblivious percy "aphrodite looked like annabeth" jackson is and i lOVE IT-
