The issue with having the TWST Halloween events happen at the same time for both servers mean that one overshadows the other šŸ˜« it wasnā€™t really prevalent last year when ENG TWST had the NBC event and JPN TWST had Playfuland, but Skully has gotten really famous even outside the fandom that poor Fellow is being ignored šŸ˜“ This combined with his name changeā€¦heā€™s really not winning right now
Aaa thatā€™s a fair thought!! Poor Fellow,,, >_<
I think itā€™s also a matter of preference. Skully is very easy to like immediately solely because (to those who arenā€™t familiar with twst) ā€œomg anime boy Jack Skellingtonā€ or ā€œomg Gojo rebornā€!! Also,, Jack Skellington was and still is immensely popular. Heā€™s one of the tumblr sexyman. Itā€™s understandable that this amount of popularity would inevitably be thrust onto Skully. Additionally, Jack isnā€™t considered nearly as villainous as Frollo or Honest John (of course he isnā€™t completely innocent), considering heā€™s the protagonist of his film. He just has a lot of likability points in all areas, which allows for people both in and outside of the fandom to appreciate Skullyā€™s character.
As for Rollo, he isnā€™t considered ā€œattractiveā€ by majority standards and it was easy to dislike him from the moment he was announced because of the villain heā€™s twsted from. (My personal, not objective whatsoever opinion is that they can never make me hate Rollo. I love him so very much. Heā€™s everything to me.) I canā€™t give much of a thought for Fellow because his design is very attractive and itā€™s easier to not hate him solely because of this attractiveness(???). Like Rollo, they can never make me hate Mr. Fellow. <3 his name change may be discouraging, but he will forever be Fellow in our hearts. :D
Aaaa but maybe Iā€™m rambling nonsense. T_T in short, I think it was destiny for Skully to become so popular. Even my friend who isnā€™t in the twst fandom at all found Skully on their tiktok fyp. He is just so popular!!!! :O

Glue (Part 1)
Summary: JJ is living a nightmare when his best friend, Reader, is kidnapped and held for ransom by his father.
TW/CW: Routledge!Reader x JJ Maybank, Angst
Requested?: No
Word Count: 1,822
A/N: omg this took so long to write... Requests are Open! Much love to all!
Tumblr media
Ā Ā Ā Ā Thatā€™s (Y/N). (Y/N) (Y/M/N) Routledge. My sister is a jack of all trades. Surfing, mischief, singing, boating, fishing, you name it, sheā€™s probably good at it. Her favorite place to be is on the waves. Sheā€™s a feisty little firecracker and I often find myself dragging her out of a sticky situation. Love her to death. Sheā€™s a hoot.Ā Ā
--- Your POV ---Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œ(Y/N)!ā€ my best friend yells. Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā I throw my arm over my eyes and yell back, ā€œWhat JJ? What could you possibly be yelling about this early in the morning?ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā No response. I throw my arm down and poke my head up over the side of the hammock. Looking around I see no one and assume heā€™s just screwing with me. I close my eyes and throw my arm back over them. ā€œ(Y/N)!ā€ This time I shoot up glaring around. Finally, I see the hood of the HMS Pogue up. Grumbling, I stumble out of my comfy spot and shuffle toward the dock. I canā€™t stop a large yawn as I spot JJ with his head buried under the hood. Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā I sigh rubbing the bridge of my nose, ā€œWhat the fuck are you doinā€™, JJ?ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œDamn engine is clankinā€™ again,ā€ comes his muffled reply as he fidgets with the engine. Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā I grab the back of his shirt and tug, ā€œGet out of there, will ya? Before you screw something up.ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œIā€™m not gonna fuck it up. Hand me that wrench?ā€ He responds pointing with his free hand. I roll my eyes and pick up the wrench, handing it to him before plopping down on the side of the boat. He fiddles around inside the engine compartment for a few moments before asking, ā€œWhereā€™s John B?ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œHow should I know? I just woke up,ā€ I answer, annoyance evident in my tone.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œChill Princess. Was just askinā€™ā€ he laughs.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā A few moments go by of silence aside from the bumps and knocks of JJā€™s tools and the soft splashing of the waves. Suddenly JJ yells, yanking his hand out of the boatā€™s insides and looking at it in frustration. ā€œWhatā€™d you do?ā€ I ask.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œUhhhh,ā€ he quickly hides his hand in his shirt, ā€œNothing just banged my hand.ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā I get up from my seat and shuffle toward him. I gently tug his hand into view and spot a large gash across the back of his hand. He hisses as I wipe the blood away with my shirt. ā€œIā€™ll go get the first aid kit.ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā I clamber off the boat and make my way to the rebuilt Chateau. The first thing my brother did after the whole gold mess died down was rebuild our childhood home. Making my way to the bathroom I fish the first aid kit out of the cabinet and grab a towel from the hook. As I exit the bathroom, I bump into someone, ā€œYouā€™re usually not too eager to get bandaged up,ā€ I comment, assuming itā€™s just JJ. The person places a gun to my stomach and puts their other hand over my mouth. I drop the supplies as I realize who it is. Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œMake a single sound and Iā€™ll shoot you,ā€ Luke growls and I canā€™t help the wave of fear that rolls through me. ā€œYouā€™re coming with me, darlinā€™,ā€ my stomach rolls. I debate my options mentally. I could try to fight him, but I have no real chance considering heā€™ll put a bullet in me before I can make it out the door. Before I can come up with any kind of exit strategy, he drags me out of the house and to a truck parked a good distance away from the dock. He shoves me in the passenger seat and takes off, keeping the gun trained on me the entire time. Itā€™s not long before we pull into a marina and heā€™s yanking me around again. He drags me inside a houseboat and shoves me into a small room, tying my hands before leaving.Ā Ā
--- JJā€™s POV ---Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā I pause my one-handed work and drop the wrench to wipe blood away from my cut again. I look toward the house and see no sign of (Y/N). I check my phone and realize sheā€™s been gone for a good fifteen minutes. She shouldā€™ve been back by now. I hear a truck rumble in the distance but think nothing of it as I make my way inside. ā€œ(Y/N)?ā€ I walk through the house and finally see the first aid kit and a towel on the floor outside the bathroom, ā€œ(Y/N)!?ā€ I yell, starting to panic. Ripping my phone out of my pocket I run outside as I dial John Bā€™s number. It rings and rings and finally goes to voicemail. I dial again, still searching everywhere for any sign of (Y/N). Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Finally, he picks up, ā€œYo, whatā€™s up? Got that rust bucket running yet?ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œ(Y/N)ā€™s gone,ā€ I say, too worried to beat around the bush.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œWhat? What do you mean sheā€™s gone?ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œI mean sheā€™s gone, man. She went inside to get the first aid kit because I cut my hand up and when she didnā€™t come back, I went looking for her,ā€ my voice shakes as I hurriedly explain, ā€œI found the first aid kit and a towel on the floor but no (Y/N).ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œWeā€™re on our way now. Sit tight, donā€™t do anything stupid,ā€ John B answers, sounding panicked himself, as the line clicks dead. I throw my phone at the ground and my fist at a tree. I was right outside. What the hell happened? I shouldā€™ve gone in with her. I throw another punch at the tree as countless similar thoughts run through my head.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā By the time the Twinkie turns into the driveway, Iā€™ve beat my knuckles bloody and am sitting on the porch steps with my head in my hands. After coming to a screeching halt, John B and Sarah jump out of the van. Sarah runs over to me, checking me over and taking note of my destroyed knuckles. John B on the other hand rushes inside and starts yelling for his sister. When he emerges from the Chateau, heā€™s frantic. Sarah stands and places her hand on his shoulder, ā€œJust sit down and call Shoop.ā€ She walks inside and returns soon after with the first aid kit. Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œI need to file a missing personā€™s report,ā€ John B states as Sarah takes a seat beside me and holds her hand out to me, expecting me to give her mine. ā€œ(Y/N) Routledge. She was last seen wearing,ā€ he pauses and looks at me as he whispers, ā€œWhat was she wearing?ā€ I donā€™t have time to answer, ā€œShe was last seen like thirty minutes ago.ā€ Having cleaned them of blood, Sarah wraps my hands in gauze as John B stands abruptly, ā€œWhat do you mean I canā€™t file yet? Sheā€™s my sister!ā€ He listens for a second as Sarah finishes with my bandages. ā€œI donā€™t give a damn if it hasnā€™t been twenty-four hours. You know what? Put Shoop on. Let me talk to Shoop.ā€ He removes his phone from his ear and glares at it, ā€œThey hung up.ā€ His phone joins mine in the grass as he plops down beside me, dropping his head into his hands.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œYou both just need to breathe for a sec, okay? Weā€™ll find her. Weā€™ll round everyone up and weā€™ll get her back,ā€ Sarah states trying to calm us down. She pulls out her phone and types out a short message before returning her attention to us, ā€œItā€™s gonna be okay.ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Feeling defeated I mumble, ā€œā€˜Preciate the positivity but we donā€™t even know who took her.ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œWe canā€™t just sit here,ā€ John B firmly states, standing to return inside, probably in search of clues.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā I drop my head back into my hands, yanking on my hair, ā€œFuck!ā€ Sarah places her hand on my shoulder. ā€œIf I had gone inside with her instead of being focused on that damn boat- ā€œ Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Sarah doesnā€™t let me finish, ā€œDonā€™t you dare. Donā€™t start blaming yourself. You had no idea.ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā John B returns, plopping back into his seat and assuming a position that copies mine. The three of us sit in silence for a while. Kie, Pope, and Cleo arrive and make their way to us. ā€œWhatā€™s going on? Whereā€™s (Y/N)?ā€ Pope asks.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā John B and I donā€™t bother to look up, so Sarah responds, ā€œSheā€™s missing.ā€ Pope throws his hands up to his head and takes a few steps back Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œAre you sure; sure sheā€™s not just out doing (Y/N) stuff?ā€ Cleo questions, fiddling with her knife.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œWeā€™re sure. She went inside to get a first aid kit for JJ and didnā€™t come back out,ā€ Sarah answers.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œDid you call the police?ā€ Kie inquires, taking a seat beside Sarah.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œOf course, I called the cops Kie. They said we canā€™t file a report until sheā€™s been missing 24 hours and wouldnā€™t let me talk to Shoop,ā€ John B shoots back, sounding a bit harsh.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Before anyone else can say a word, my phone starts ringing from the weeds. I jump up and run over, ā€œIt could be her.ā€ I pick it up and my hope falters. An unknown number is there where it should say Pogue Princess. I answer it anyway, ā€œHe-hello?ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œI want $100,000 in cash or youā€™ll never see your little girlfriend again,ā€ comes a voice I hoped to never hear again, Luke.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā I quickly run back over to the others and put my phone on speaker, ā€œIf you hurt her, I swear-ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Sarah pulls her phone out to record as soon as he starts to respond, ā€œYou swear? Swear what? What are you gonna do boy?ā€ Shock plasters everyoneā€™s features but heā€™s not done, ā€œ$100k in cash for your girl. You know what? Tell that Routledge boy he owes $100k too. And donā€™t even think about running to Shoop, soon as I catch wind of him, Iā€™m putting a bullet between her pretty little eyes.ā€ As he hangs up, Sarah ends the video and starts toward the van.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œWhereā€™re you going?ā€ John B inquires as I stand there frozen in shock and fear.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œWe can take this video to Shoop and then he has no choice than to help us find her,ā€ she answers.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā This shakes me back to reality, ā€œNo! Heā€™ll kill her.ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œHe wonā€™t if he has no clue. The police are trained for this sort of thing.ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā€œSarah, weā€™ll find her and then send Shoop after him. Iā€™m not risking my sisterā€™s life,ā€ John B interjects.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Sarah looks at us, silently begging us to do what she thinks is the right thing. Having no such luck, she looks to the other three hoping for backup.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Cleo nodsĀ her head as Pope speaks up, ā€œIā€™m kind of with Sarah here.ā€Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Kie shrugs, ā€œSheā€™s right Theyā€™re trained for this. Weā€™re not.ā€ John B and I look at each other knowing weā€™re outnumbered and we all head for the Twinkie.Ā

The Fire In Your Eyes
part VII: horshoe overlook iii
Tumblr media
pairing: Arthur Morgan x fem!reader
word count: 15.2k
summary: You and Arthur take Lenny to drown his anxieties at the saloon, and it ends up bring more trouble than you would have imagined. The gang finally deals with that O'driscoll, and Arthur opens up more about his past when Abigail asks you both to take Jack out. You meet a couple of threatening strangers.
a/n: highly recommended playing 'a quiet time soundtrack' when you get to the bar scene. This chapter was so fun to write omg. Lots of set up in this chapter, along with plenty of fluff, angst and more talking about our feelings. You're still in denial, Arthur is opening up, its a whole thing. P.S. if you aren't sure who Nils is, just google him on yt. Please please check the warnings before you read! beta read by @margowritesthings <3
warnings: Violence, gore, blood, attempted/implied mention of SA, its very brief and we kill him hehe, wanted to add the tag just in case)

ā€œOkay, pick a color. We have pink, red, orange or white.ā€ Marybeth asks, excitedly weaving her fingers through your hair, neatly braiding it. You smile, glancing over to her basket of wildflowers.Ā
ā€œHow about white?ā€ You suggest, looking at the assortment of flowers in her basket, eyes honing in on the pale white jasmines and babyā€™s breath.
It's a warm evening, with golden light peeking over the mountains as the sun begins to set. You had ventured down the hill towards the Dakota River with Marybeth earlier, and she had picked from a patch of wildflowers, bringing home only the most beautiful specimen. Tilly and Karen sit around on the ground next to you, and you chuckle as the three girls giggle and gossip.Ā
ā€œMarybeth, you oughta do me next. I canā€™t be goinā€™ out on the town with hair like this.ā€ Karen jokes, and Marybeth lights up, excited to share the time with you girls.
You bite into an apple, crunching and savoring the sweet flavor as Marybeth braids your hair down your back. You glance into the mirror, the one Marybeth stole from Arthurā€™s shaving station, noticing how much your hair has grown since youā€™ve joined the Van der Lindes. She ties the bottom of the braid with a little white knot, smiling as she plucks some white flowers from her basket.Ā
ā€œYouā€™re gonna love it.ā€ Marybeth sighs, eyes sparkling as she begins to tuck the stems into the creases of your braid, leaving little white flowers embedded in your hair. Sheā€™s missed a few tiny pieces around your face, and they fall down, framing your cheekbones. From across camp, sitting outside his tent like an overseer, Dutch keeps his eyes on you. You ignore it, purposefully refusing to meet his glance.Ā
You glance around, people watching as Marybeth finishes up her work. On the other side of camp, Uncle is wasted, Strauss is scribbling away in a journal, and Abigail is having a hushed argument with John. It's all so normal.Ā
"I heard Abigail and John yellin' again this morning." Tilly tsks, shaking her head with a sigh, glancing to their tent.Ā
"What about?" You ask, eyebrows pulled together. Marybeth releases your braid for a moment, allowing you to turn towards the girls.Ā
"The usual." Karen bites, irritated by their bickering, and Tilly elaborates.Ā
"Well John ain't exactly beenā€¦ a great father to Jack."Ā
"John's an ass. Jack only wants his daddy, but he knows his daddy wants nothin' to do with him." Karen explains, scowling in the scar-faced outlaw across camp.Ā
"Poor Jackā€¦" You frown, familiar with the feeling of being unwanted.Ā
"How does Abigail do it all?" Marybeth asks, pulling and perfecting your braid and the flowers lined in it.Ā
"No idea." Tilly mumbles. It grows quiet for a while as you all get lost in thought. You think about what Arthur had said, just a few weeks ago, about his son, and you sigh.Ā
"Done!" Marybeth chimes and you smile at her as she holds Arthur's mirror up, letting you see. She's done a beautiful job, leaving the braid tight enough so it won't fall out, but loose enough for it to be beautifully messy and comfortable. The little white flowers are an intricate touch, just enough of them to add dimension to your hair without overpowering it.Ā
"Marybeth, it's beautiful!" You say, smiling sweetly at her before reaching into your satchel.Ā
"For your troubles." You whisper, winking as you slide her a candy bar. Marybeth's eyebrows pop up in surprise as she takes the little sweet, tucking it into her skirt.Ā
"Thank you, Marybeth." You say, standing up and stretching your knees. You address the other girls then, nodding to them.Ā
"I'll return this to Mr. Morgan, thank you for your good company." You say, taking his stand mirror from the ground and walking away from their wagon. Arthur's tent isn't far, and within a few moments you stand outside his covered wagon, placing his mirror back down on his designated shaving barrel with a hum.Ā
A throat clears behind you, startling you as you whip around to find the source.Ā
"Stole my mirror, huh?" Arthur jokes. He's standing in front of his wardrobe, wearing only a pair of jeans as he digs through the clothes in search of a shirt. He's looking down in the chest, and you swallow thickly, watching the muscles flex as you blush.Ā Ā
"Yeah uh, well Marybeth took it to do my hair. I'm just bringin' it back." You mumble, running your finger along the barrel lid to distract yourself.Ā
At the mention of your hair, Arthur looks over at you. His eyes wrinkle with crows feet as he smiles, a little warm grin. The white flowers frame your face, and you look up at him with those eyes. He's sure you've fallen from heaven, looking as innocent as a lamb. How deceiving, because your temper is anything but.Ā
He comes toward you, still shirtless, though he holds a deep blue patterned shirt in his hand.Ā
"You uh," Arthur nods to the white flowers that crown your hair like a halo. "Your hair looks real pretty." Arthur says, pulling the shirt over his arms before buttoning it up.Ā
You huff, pulling one of the flowers out and dropping it to the ground.
"Marybeth." You explain, just as hooves sound out like war drums from the outskirts of camp. Without a second thought,Ā  your hand rests on your holster, prepared for the worst. You jog towards the camp entrance with Arthur just as Lenny gallops through the trees on Maggie, both out of breath. Lenny practically throws himself out of the saddle in a panic, and Maggie rears up.Ā
ā€œThey-! They got Micah!ā€ Lenny hollers, running towards the two of you.Ā
ā€œArthur! Star, Dutch! They got Micah, they got him in Strawberry. They nearly lynched me!ā€ Lenny yells, hands resting on his knees.
You rest your hand on his shoulder, making sure he's okay, as you all try to catch up.Ā
ā€œWhat is going on?ā€ Dutch asks, striding out of his tent and straight up to the three of you. Your braid flips over your shoulder as you make sure Lenny is steady before letting him go. He takes a breath, calming down before continuing as Dutch joins.Ā
ā€œItā€™s okay, son, breathe.ā€ Dutch pats the younger man on the back.
ā€œThey got Micah at the sheriffā€™s in Strawberry, and thereā€™s talk of hanginā€™ him.ā€ Lenny explains, and you raise an eyebrow, unsure of what the problem is then. Arthur seems to be sharing a similar train of thought as he mumbles under his breath.Ā
ā€œHereā€™s hoping.ā€ Arthur bites, and Dutch looks at him with a comically shocked face.Ā
ā€œArthur.ā€ He scolds, as if disciplining a dog, and you snort.Ā
ā€œMicah deserves to sit in that jail for a while. Let him get nervous, let him rot a little more, itā€™ll do him good.ā€ You point out, leaning down to strike a match of the bottom of your boot.Ā
ā€œSheā€™s right. You know my feelingsā€™ bout him Dutch.ā€ Arthur warns, voice low and you nod, lighting a cigarette.Ā
ā€œHe is a fine man. But sheā€™s right. Heā€™s brought this on himself. Go get him in a few weeks, Me and the ladyā€™s faces are plastered all over Blackwater, itā€™ll have to be you, Arthur.ā€ Dutch explains, and Arthur groans with a sigh. They continue their bickering, and you leave them to it, walking over to where Lenny sits at the wooden table.Ā
ā€œYou okay?ā€ You ask, sitting on the table, placing your boots onto the seat of the chair next to Lenny.
ā€œYeah, just shaken up. I hate ridinā€™ with Micah, itā€™s like he loses his mind.ā€ Lenny whispers, eyes far away as he shakes his head.Ā
ā€œYeahā€¦ I seen it too.ā€ You mumble, scowling. Arthur and Dutch wrap up their conversation, and then Dutch walks over to the two of you.Ā
ā€œCā€™mon kid. Weā€™re gettinā€™ a drink, Dutchā€™s orders.ā€ Arthur chuckles, and you slide down from the table, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear.Ā
ā€œIā€™m cominā€™ too.ā€ You chime, following the two boys to the hitching posts.Ā
ā€œMaybe just one or two will calm my nerves.ā€ Lenny sighs, climbing back up into Maggieā€™s saddle.
You pet Athena, giving her a mint as a peace offering for taking her from the hay before mounting up.Ā
ā€œWe even allowed to go in the saloon after all that ruckus you caused?ā€ You ask, raising an eyebrow at Arthur. Lenny turns in his saddle to look at you for a moment before spurring Maggie further into the evening.Ā
ā€œWhat trouble have you boys been causing now?ā€ Lenny directs at Arthur, hollering over the sound of cantering hooves.Ā
ā€œNothinā€™ much just some good n fair bar fightin.ā€ Arthur says, downplaying the situation.Ā
ā€œHa! Yeah, Arthur, just some friendly punches. How much you wanna bet that the windowsā€™ still broken from your ass flyin through it?ā€ You holler, and Arthur laughs, crossing over the railroad tracks into town.Ā
ā€œItā€™s all done with now, and at least nobody died.ā€ Arthur points out to which you nod. Good point.
You trot up the main road, pulling your horses in front of the new Blacksmith building. Typically you would just hitch in front of the saloon, but the bar must be packed tonight because horses line the street in front of Smithfields. You jump down from Athena, petting her neck while looking at the new building in front of you. There's some light inside, a candle or two, and an ā€˜openā€™ sign on the front door. Outside two men talk, one wasted.Ā
ā€œY-You open mis-ā€ he hiccups, ā€œMister?ā€ The one man asks, a plain looking feller. But the man he is talking to, presumably the shop owner, is a small man with small features and a big white beard. He wears a red beanie hat on his head, and his face is bright red.Ā
ā€œOkayā€¦ā€ The peculiar man says with a strong accent. Your eyebrows draw together, and you chuckle. Maybe he doesnā€™t speak english.Ā
ā€œI need a hammerā€¦ you see I'm buildingā€™ a house, buildinā€™ a house down the road..ā€ The drunk man slurs, barely able to keep steady as the smaller, foreign man grabs the drunkard's arm, pushing him inside the shop.Ā
ā€œOkay!ā€ The small man says, and you laugh at his oddity. You remember Hosea telling you about this shop owner, and the strange little things he sells in his shop.Ā
ā€œStar? You cominā€™?ā€ Arthur asks, and you turn around, realizing youā€™d been eavesdropping on the strangers. You turn back to the shop for a moment, eyeing its peculiarity before sheepishly turning back to Arthur.
ā€œI'm gonna go check this place out for a minute. Iā€™ll be over shortly.ā€ You smile, looking towards the shop excitedly, remembering that you have a little cash from your box on you. Lenny rests against a beam under the porch of the general store, out of earshot from you and Arthurā€™s conversation. He only knows that youā€™re both doing a whole lot of talking and not a lot of drinking.Ā
ā€œYou two comin, or what?ā€ Lenny hollers, and Arthur gestures towards you.Ā
ā€œWeā€™ll catch up, just give us a minute.ā€ Arthur yells back, following after you towards the shop entrance.Ā
ā€œIā€™ll start a tab.ā€ Lenny chuckles, walking up the sidewalk towards the bar.Ā
ā€œYou need somethinā€™ from the blacksmith?ā€ Arthur asks, holding the door open for you as you step inside.Ā
ā€œNo, just wanted to look is all. Hosea said there was some more stuff in here than tools, the man likes to work metal into all kinds of things.ā€ You say at a volume so that only Arthur can hear you. He nods, and you take in the shop. The little building is split into two sections. On the right, the bigger section, all sorts of home made tools hang from nails in the wall, for sale. There's hammers, screwdrivers, bits, and all sorts of other things that you donā€™t care about. You glance to the left side of the shop, and your eyes light up. Shelves line the wall, and the little foreign shop owner sits on the checkout counter beside them, swinging his legs. The shelves are lined with hand crafted metal cups, decorations and jewelry, anything one can think of. He has little metal spoons, crafted and twisted beautifully. There are necklaces, belt buckles and rings, none of them resembling another, all unique. Your eyes light up, and Arthur watches you with a sweet smile as you run your hand down the expanse of one of the shelves, taking everything in. A few other people mill around, looking as well.
ā€œArthur, look at all this.ā€ You gasp, bewildered by the handcrafted, intricate things that this odd man has made. Arthur walks with you, falling into pace as his spurs click against the floor. Heā€™s mesmerized, alright. But the trinkets on the shelf have little to do with it. The flowers in your hair, the excitement on your face from such a small pleasure, the stars in your eyes that shine brighter than any night heā€™s ever seen.Ā
Arthur steps away, walking towards the other side of the shop as you come up to the accessory section. Particularly what catches your attention is the hat accessories, and you pick a few up, wondering what they might look like on your own hat, back at camp. Then it catches your eye. A smaller hat accessory rests closer to the back of the shelf, and with your eyebrows pulled together in concentration, you pick it up. It's a piece to be added on the side of a hat, a small bundle of feathers, bound with twine and wrapped in beautiful, coiled metal. But what catches your eye is the teal agate, embedded into the metal that wraps around the bundle. Itā€™s a color you've seen time and again. A throat clears behind you, and you turn, meeting eyes of the same teal.Ā
ā€œReady?ā€ Arthur asks, not noticing the little gift that youā€™re hiding behind your back. You nod, glancing at the older shop owner for a moment.Ā
ā€œYeah Iā€™ll be right over, but first could youā€¦ could you give me a minute?ā€ You ask, and Arthur nods, looking a little confused or worried.Ā
ā€œSure. Everythinā€™ alright?ā€ Arthur asks, and you nod. He steps back, tipping his hat to you lightly before walking out of the shop. With a breath, you pull the accessory back in front of you.
The agate is the same color as Arthurā€™s eyes, and you look over the gift with great fondness. No because of the accessory itself per se, but because of the man youā€™re going to gift it to. Holding the feathered accessory up to the light, you gasp, seeing almost unnoticeable stars stamped into the fine metal. You want to give Arthur something new for his hat, something that he can use to make it his own. Damn his father, and the fear that Arthur feels every day, wondering if heā€™s turning into the bastard. You want Arthurā€™s hat to be his, something he can pass down to his children or whomever one day with good memories, not bad ones.
With your mind made, you walk up to the shopkeeper.Ā
ā€œHow much for this?ā€ You ask, placing it on the counter where the man sits. He hops down, not saying a word as he walks around the other side of the counter. He takes a piece of paper from under the register, writing some things down in a language you can't understand. Then, he opens the cash register and looks up to you.Ā
ā€œJa, Okay.ā€ He says, holding his hand out for you to place cash into and you chuckle, sighing.Ā
ā€œYou?- Alright mister.ā€ You chuckle, reaching into your pocket and pulling out a five dollar bill. A man, leaning against the wall laughs, filling you in.Ā
ā€œYeah, that there is Nils. He donā€™t really talk much, he understands though. A Norwegian fella, not even sure he speaks English, but heā€™s a damn good smith.ā€ The man says, picking up a belt buckle and looking it over.
ā€œThat he is.ā€ You hum as Nils hands you back a few odd cents.
ā€œNamesā€™ David Geddes.ā€ The informant smiles, reaching to shake your hand. ā€œI work with Nils here. Heā€™s helpinā€™ me to build a ranch up in West Elizabeth.ā€ Mr. Geddes says, releasing your hand. You smile, hearing that northern West Elizbeth is beautiful territory.
ā€œIf youā€™re ever in the market for tools or land, you know where to find us.ā€ Mr. Geddes smiles, and you nod, knowing that youā€™re never going to need either of those things. You keep it in mind, though.
ā€œThank you Mr. Geddes, pleasure to meet you. You as well, Mr. Nils!ā€ You smile at both men, giggling as Nils says ā€˜okay!ā€™ when you walk out the door. Proudly, you place the little gift in your satchel. You want to wait until the perfect time to give it to him. Smiling, you walk past the few shops towards the saloon. You can hear the music from outside, a pianist enjoying himself on the keys, probably drunk as a skunk. You were right earlier, the window is still smashed out from Arthur being thrown out of it.Ā
You push the saloon doors open, walking in just as a man was walking out. Your shoulders hit off each other, and you scowl deeply at him before moving towards the bar. A loud game of poker is being played at the table, with drunk, laughing players. Working women linger about, draped over chairs and men, waiting to be taken upstairs for the night. You squeeze past the people, slipping onto the bar beside Arthur and Lenny, with Arthur in the middle.Ā
ā€œBoys.ā€ You greet, waving down the bartender. The saloon is loud, and you have to yell over the music to hear each other, even with the close proximity.Ā
ā€œNow just one or two. Right, Arthur?ā€ Lenny asks as he clinks his bottle against Arthurā€™s.
ā€œCourse, just a drink.ā€ Arthur responds, tapping his glass against the counter before taking a long swig.Ā
ā€œHey!ā€ You yell to the bartender, irritated. He doesnā€™t pay you any mind, and you huff.Ā
Jumping up onto the bar so that your stomach is on the counter, you grab a bottle of whiskey from behind the counter. Itā€™s nearly empty, and you groan. Arthur shakes his head as you slide back down to the ground.Ā
ā€œI donā€™t plan on staying too long.ā€ Lenny reiterates, and you nod, tapping your fingers against the bottle to the rhythm of the funk music.Ā
ā€œMe neither.ā€ You say, swallowing the little bit of drink left over before tossing it over the counter.
Another man slides onto the open space of the bar beside you. Heā€™s already been done in by the drink, eyes glazed over with red cheeks. Arthur keeps an eye on him, not too comfortable with the way this man is looking at you.Ā
ā€œHey- Hey miss?ā€ He asks, and you turn to him. Arthur watches it unfold as you bat your eyelashes, and at first heā€™s confused as you look up to the sleazebag with doe-like eyes.
ā€œYes, mister?ā€ You ask, twirling your finger around your hair.Ā
ā€œCan I buy you a beer?ā€ He asks, smiling like an idiot. You smile, resting your hand on the manā€™s chest. Ah, a pocket watch, right in his vest pocket. You feel the outline of the fine metal through his shirt, and you smirk.
ā€œShe likes whiskey.ā€ Arthur bites, not seeing your scheme playing out. You elbow him lightly, and his eyebrows pull together.Ā
ā€œHey, Hey a beer for this fine woman!ā€ The drunk man calls out, and as he leans over the bar to pay the tender, you sneak your fingers between him and the bar, gently pulling the chain until the pocket watch emerges from his pocket. Very content, you slide it into your pocket, smirking up at Arthur. He looks bewildered, amazed, as he laughs, elbowing Lenny and filling him in.Ā
ā€œFor you, m- mā€™lady.ā€ The drunkard says, handing you a beer. You take it, no trace of a smile on your lips as you slide it down the bar to Lenny. The drunk man scowls angrily, slamming his fist down on the counter.
ā€œWhat the hell?ā€ He asks, face turning red with anger. You smile, leaning against the bar, acting as if he doesn't exist.
ā€œThis what a feller gets for beinā€™ nice?ā€ He huffs, and you bite your tongue, slipping your eyes closed to quell your rage. Arthur orders a whiskey, and places the glass in front of you.Ā
ā€œTried to tell you partner, this lady likes her liquor.ā€ Arthur chuckles, toasting another glass with Lenny. You swirl the glass in your hand, sipping from it while putting all your attention into not killing this man.Ā
ā€œYou owe me!ā€ He yells, spittle flying. Even Arthur tenses at your side, pointing a threatening finger to the drunk.Ā
ā€œShut your mouth, buddy.ā€ Arthur warns, and the music grows louder, more intense, as does your grip on your drink.Ā
ā€œOr what?ā€ The man laughs maniacally, sizing you up and down and concluding that you wouldn't hurt a fly.
ā€œLeave this idiot alone, he ainā€™t worth it.ā€ Lenny interjects, always the voice of reason. The man laughs at that, turning to you three like he's an old friend.Ā
ā€œLeave me alone? Well people been leavin me alone for nearly ten years! I say that's their loss, Iā€™m a great guy, bought this bitch a drink-ā€ The man rambles on, and your shoulders set, eyes glazing over as a rage fills you. You slam your drink against the counter, spilling most of it before grabbing that damn idiot by the back of his collar. You slam his head down onto the bar in one swift motion, and it cracks. Sparing him no time to recuperate, you tear him away from the bar, dragging him towards the door where you literally kick him through the saloon doors.
Lenny whistles under his breath as you come back, wiping your hands on your jeans before picking your glass back up.Ā
ā€œWhere were we, boys?ā€ You ask, turning to the men.Ā
ā€” AN HOUR (OR TWO?) LATER ā€”
ā€˜Clink, clink, clinkā€™ is all you hear as bottles and glasses continuously toast against each other. Youā€™ve lost count of the amount of drinks you've been handed, or stolen off the bar. Arthur laughs loudly over the music, a contagious sound that has you and Lenny giggling like fools. You feel good and warm, a buzz running through your veins and filling your head with a fuzzy cloud.
ā€œYou want another one, Arthur? Star?ā€ Lenny asks, laughter dying down as he waves to the bartender.Ā
ā€œSure, weā€™re already here!ā€ Arthur hollers, words slurred as you nod your head.
ā€œYeah but first, I- I gotta go play that piano!ā€ You holler, picking up your glass and dancing your way down to the pianist.Ā
ā€” A WHILE LAETRā€”
You sit up on top of the bar, laughing so hard that you can barely breath. You donā€™t remember what was so funny, but it sure was. You slap your knee, cackling at something with Arthur. Lennyā€™s laughing too, leaning down against the bar to stop from falling over.Ā
ā€œYou! You are a hilarious feller, Arthur Morgan!ā€ You snort, taking a big long swig from your bottle. You think it's whiskey, but you're not sure. It doesnā€™t even burn anymore, just going straight down.
ā€œArthur!ā€ You call, grabbing his biceps to shake his attention. He jumps, startled, and then laughs. Being on the bar has you sitting a little taller than him, and he looks up at you with a dumb expression.Ā
ā€œYou ever-ā€ You hiccup, ā€œ-had a dog?ā€ You ask. It's a very serious inquiry, and you need to know. Arthurā€™s brows pull together as he thinks, and it looks kind of painful.Ā
ā€œOne timeā€¦ bout a million years ago.ā€ Arthur squints, dead serious, staring at the wall behind you. You erupt into a fit of laughter, smacking the outlaw on the shoulder.Ā
ā€œWhat the hell is a million years?ā€ You ask in between chuckles. The music is loud, the mood is good. The sun has set, and more patrons have joined the saloon.
ā€œI donā€™t know, but I bet it's at least a thousand.ā€Ā
You nod, concluding that heā€™s probably correct on that account. You turn to your right, right where Lenny was sitting, to ask him his opinions on the matter.Ā
ā€œWhat about you Lenny? You ever-ā€ You stop, dumbfounded when you realize heā€™s not there. Surely he was just a second ago.Ā
ā€œLenny?ā€ You ask, turning your head around to find him.Ā
ā€œOh no.ā€ Arthur mumbles, looking around as well.Ā
ā€œArthur, he's disappeared!ā€ You yell, panicked, but Arthur grabs your waist, pulling you down to the ground. Once you're down from the bar, Arthur keeps grip on your hips for just a moment longer.Ā
ā€œWeā€™ll find him, don't you worry. If anybody can come back from disappearinā€™ it's Lenny.ā€ Arthur explains, and you nod. That makes sense.Ā
ā€œShould we split up?ā€ You ask as Arthur leads you to the center of the saloon. Arthur nods, stumbling lightly as he pulls you through the crowd.Ā
ā€œYeah, youse smart. We can cover-ā€ Arthur burps, chuckling deeply for a moment, ā€œWe can cover more ground if we split up. Iā€™ll go upstairs.ā€ Arthur explains, and you nod, pushing past people.Ā
ā€œSmart thinkin. Iā€™ll go upstairs too.ā€ You say, following him up.Ā
ā€œGood plan.ā€ Arthur approves, stumbling up the staircase while pulling you behind him.Ā
ā€œLENNY!!?ā€ Arthur yells, looking around for your lost friend. You see lots of people, but you donā€™t see Lenny, least you don't think you do.
ā€œLenny!?ā€ You mimic Arthur, chuckling as he pulls you around the fenced in overhand that overlooks the bar downstairs.Ā
ā€œThere you is!ā€ Arthur calls, and you look around until you see him. Lenny is leaning on the little fence, trying to balance a glass on his nose.Ā
ā€œWhatcha doing?ā€ You ask, both confused and amazed. Lenny laughs, swaying so as to not drop it from his nose.Ā
ā€œI- I donā€™t know!ā€Ā
The glass falls, and Lenny tries to catch it but his delayed reflexes do him in and the glass falls down the overlook, shattering onto the saloon floor downstairs. You all laugh like itā€™s the funniest thing in the world, doubling over as you try to breathe from cackling.Ā
Then somehow you all have more drinks in your hand, and youā€™re toasting them together, cheering loudly. You donā€™t even know what youā€™re drinking, but it sure goes down nice. Lenny hooks his arm under yours, and you do-si-do, tripping and stumbling and laughing like youā€™ve never laughed before. Arthur switches spots with Lenny then, hooking his arm under yours and dancing around. But Arthur lacks Lennyā€™s grace, or maybe heā€™s just more drunk, and halfway around the circle he accidentally trips you, sending you straight to the floor. Your drink smashes against the ground, and you lay on the floor for a while, arms and legs spread out as you chuckle.Ā
Arthur pulls you up, nearly falling over himself, and then you all lean against the railing with more drinks.Ā
ā€œArthur why ainā€™t you never married?ā€ Lenny asks, and Arthurā€™s mouth hangs open as he thinks.Ā
ā€œNo one would have me.ā€ Arthur sighs, a pathetic, sad little noise. You slap him on the back, trying to encourage him.Ā
ā€œWhaddya mean no one would have you, Arthur everyone wants you! Hell Iā€™m sure you had ladies lined up round the block back in the day.ā€ You say, and he nods, thinking it over.Ā Ā
ā€œWell maybe, but I did not see them!ā€ He responds, toasting his drink to yours.Ā
ā€” LAETR?ā€”
Arthur jumps up and down, stomping against the floor with his arms flailing.Ā
ā€œIā€™m doinā€™ it!ā€ He screams, earning multiple annoyed glances from other patrons.Ā
ā€œYou sure are! I- I donā€™t know what youā€™re doinā€™ but itā€™s somethin!ā€ You yell back, laughing.Ā
Then suddenly youā€™re sitting on the poker table, legs swinging over the side. Youā€™re not even sure how youā€™ve gotten here, but your head is so fuzzy and relaxed you donā€™t care. Arthur stands on the ground, in between your knees looking up at you.Ā
ā€œWhy ainā€™t you never sweet on no one?ā€ You ask, fingers tracing stars on his right shoulder. Arthurā€™s hand rests on your thigh, and he looks up at you, confused.Ā
ā€œHuh?ā€
ā€œKaren said you- you didn't like girls. I mean- Karen said you didn't like any of the girls in camp. They're all beautiful, young n kind, why haven't you gone sweet on em?" You ask, drunkenness loosening your lips and releasing some of the questions you've been holding back for ages.Ā
"Well I am sweet on someone, dumbass." He says, laughing and you slap his shoulder lightly.Ā
"Who?!" You holler, eyebrows pulled together in confusion. He's not sweet on anyone that you can think of, but you can't really think right now. Arthur's hand gently squeezes your leg before he backs away, downing the last of his beer.Ā
"You're funny, y'know. Askin all kinds of questions, but I can't even think right now." Arthur's lips form a little confused pout, "least I don't think I canā€¦"
"Yeah, you're right that's a lot of thinkin'." You say, nodding your head. Arthur comes back forward, placing his hands on the table on either side of your legs.
"It's easy thinkin' bout you though. That's somethin' that don't make my head hurt." Arthur whispers, fuzzy eyes transfixed on the pout of your lips before they trail up to your sparkling eyes. A blush creeps over your cheeks, and you slide down from the table, sneaking under his arm towards the bar.Ā
"Buy me another drink Mr. Morgan!"Ā
ā€” LNENY?ā€”
You cackle, leaning over the bar sometime later. The sun has long since set, but you have no idea what time it is. Arthur's on one side of you, and you look over to where Lenny-Ā
You look over to where Lenny used to be.Ā
"Wait, where'd Lenny go?!" You slur your words as the room spins, flashing all sorts of different colors.Ā
"DAMMIT LENNY WHERE YOU AT BOYYY-" Arthur yells, slamming his drink down on the counter.
"We gotta find him, he's probably lost." You conclude, looking around the room.Ā
"Yeah or maybe he's stuck someplace."Ā
You wander around, losing Arthur as you yell for Lenny at the top of your lungs. You can hear Arthur yelling too, and you giggle. Lennt must have vanished, like those magic shows in the city.Ā
"Leave the kid alone, you goddamn animals." Arthur growls, and you turn to see him walking down the stairs. Lenny is standing up on the bar, yelling at a group of men in front of the bar. The man in front of the bar, who Arthur was yelling at, turns towards Arthur.Ā
"And who might you be?" The man hisses, growing irritated with you all. Arthur looks mighty confused for a moment, and you stumble towards the scene playing out.Ā
"They call me Arthur, n' people who don't call me Arthur? Well I guess they do not know my name." Arthur whispers, chuckling.Ā
"What-?" The other man asks, and you stride right up to him, punching him straight in the nose.Ā
ā€”SUME TYME LTAERā€”
You line kick, arms intertwined with Arthur's and Lenny's, hoisting your legs up in the air with a bunch of other people, you laugh carelessly, dancing away.Ā
Then you're not dancing- you're laying on the staircase next to Lenny and Arthur, drinks in hand.Ā
"I gotta piss." Arthur says, tapping your knee before standing up.Ā
"You should probably do that. You can't drink more if you ain't peed." You explain, and Arthur frowns, thinking.Ā
"Really?" He asks, and you nod.Ā
"It's true Arthur! I read that once. I- I think I did anyhow." Lenny chimes in, and Arthur runs outside.Ā
You sit with lenny for a while, feeling light as ever, drinking your fill and then some.
ā€” ??? ā€”
"I got a quesstionnā€¦" You say, pressed up against the wall by Arthur's hands.Ā
"Hmm?" Arthur asks, eyes heavy as he tries not to fall over, arms bracing themselves on either side of your head against the saloon wall. You're outside, and the walls buzz from music and banter.Ā
"I probably don't know an answer butā€¦ but I'll try." Arthur says.Ā
"Back in Colter, in Horseshoe durin' that storm, up in the hills in your tentā€¦ whyā€™d you do all that?" You ask, a sense of clarity overcoming you even though you're drunk beyond help. Arthurs' trying to think back, but his head hurts.Ā
"Huh?"Ā
"You- you laid with me, held my hand till I fell asleep. Why'd you do that?" You ask as Arthur's hands slide away from the wall, down to his belt. It hits Arthur then, all the things he'd done, things he knows he shouldn't have done, but couldn't stop himself from doing.Ā
"I- I don't know. Guessā€¦ you was sad. I wanted to make you feel better." Arthur mumbles, eyes downcast. You smile, buzzing.Ā
"Did it work? Do I make you feel better?" Arthur whispers. His voice is low and deep, that familiar, gravelly tone. You smile up at him as one of his hands comes back up to the wall beside your head, trapping you in.Ā
"You make me feel great, Arthur. Real great." You breathe out, veins pumping with adrenaline as Arthur leans closer in towards your face. His eyes are dark, pupils blown and you can smell the whiskey on his breath with the proximity.
"I bet I could make you feel even better, Star. I could make you feel lots a' things." He growls, eyes trailing from each of your eyes to your lips. You laugh, pushing him away from you lightly.Ā
"Well maybe! But you canā€™t beat me at poker for shit!" You laugh, pushing the saloon doors open and walking back inside. Arthur follows behind you, laughing all the same.Ā
"You seen Lenny?" He asks, looking around.Ā
"Dammit!" You curse, pushing through the patrons of the saloon towards the steps. You grab onto Arthur's hand, dragging him along with you.Ā
You see a few doors there, and thinking Lenny might be hiding in a room, you push one open. You gasp, laughing loudly as you open the door on a man and a woman having intimate relations. You laugh, apologizing as you swing the door shut, but Arthur screams.
You turn to him, chuckling and confused.Ā
"You n-never saw a naked woman before, Arthur?" You ask. He looks like he's just seen something traumatic as he points a finger towards the door, rubbing his eyes with his other hand.Ā
"That weren't a woman." Arthur bites, the image of Lenny riding Lenny burned into his mind forever. But you're clueless as to what he's just seen.
ā€” ā€¦..?ā€”
You laugh uncontrollably as Arthur pushes that man from earlier into the pig's water trough. He dunks the man's head under one more time before tossing him to the ground. You leave the pig pen, oinking and wheezing with laughter.Ā
"I'm a- a police!" Arthur laughs, slipping in the mud as he jogs after you, down the main street.Ā
"I'm gonnaa get'cha!" He yells as you run down the road, sliding and laughing.Ā
"YOU CAN'T! You can't get me, HA-" You scream, running towards the stables, jumping over a fence, tripping and falling into the mud.
"Fuck!" You yell, unusually colorful language for you as the sheriff and a deputy approach you from the road.Ā
"Hey! You two, come here!" Sheriff Malloy hollers, jogging after you. Arthur picks you up from the mud and slings you over his shoulder.Ā
"Arthur! They're- they're gonna get us, we gotta run!" You yell from his shoulder as he bolts, slipping and sliding.Ā
"WE'RE AMERICANS! YOU'LL NEVER CATCH US ALIVE!" Arthur screams into the night, approaching a mighty high fence.Ā
"Yeah, we got RIGHTS!" You yell.Ā
Arthur tries to jump the fence, but he's so drunk, and with you on his shoulder he doesn't even come close to clearing it. The fence breaks as Arthur lands down on it awkwardly, and you both land in the mud.
ā€” ā€” ā€” ā€”
The light hurts your eyes as they flutter open, and you squint, head throbbing. Everything hurts, your head feels like it's been filled with lead and if you move too quickly you know you'll throw up. You finally come to, and realize you're laying on a wooden bench. Arthur is laying on the floor next to the bench, awake but not moving. Then you realize where you are.Ā
You spot the unmistakable metal bars, and you groan.Ā
"Arthur, what did we do?" You ask, not remembering an ounce of the previous night. From outside of your shared cell, Sheriff Malloy stands up, grabbing a cup of coffee from a percolator.Ā
"Well the typical stuff for folks such as yourselves: harassin people, causin trouble, bein loud and breaking shit. But you also waterboarded a fella within an inch of his life, and stole a pig, this man here carried it around half the town oinkin and causing a ruckus. Although it sure was something to see, I don't appreciate being pulled outta bed with the wife at five in the damn morning." He says, taking a sip from his coffee before sitting down in his seat, propping his feet up on his desk. You look around, wincing from the movement.Ā
"Well where's Lenny?" You ask as Arthur groans loudly, holding his stomach as he sits up on the bench beside you.Ā
"Only brought in the pair of ya." The sheriff shakes his head.Ā
ā€œHowever you two managed to drink that much without passinā€™ out or dyinā€™ is beyond me.ā€ Sheriff Malloy whistles, shaking his head.
Arthur stands up, slowly walking over towards the front of the cell. He reaches into his pocket, pulling out a bill fold before handing it through the bars.Ā
ā€œShould be enough to cover our bounties, and some extra for your troubles.ā€Ā
Sheriff Malloy takes the cash and stuffs it into his pocket, silently grabbing the keys off of his desk.
ā€œGo on. Get. And how about layinā€™ off the hooch for a while?ā€ The sheriff asks, and you nod. He doesnā€™t need to tell you twice. You and Arthur walk out of the jail scot free. As soon as youā€™re out of the building, you lean against the wooden support beam, heaving.Ā
ā€œShit, Iā€™m sorry.ā€ Arthur winces, pulling your now very messy braid behind your shoulder as you throw up. You cough, wishing you were dead as the sunlight burns your eyes, killing your already throbbing head.Ā
ā€œHere.ā€ Arthur hands a rag from his satchel down to you, leaning on your knees as you clean yourself up.Ā
ā€œJust one or two, huh? Jesus-ā€ You take slow, deep breaths, trying not to puke again.Ā
ā€œYou even remember what the hell we did last night?ā€ He asks, and you shake your head.Ā
ā€œNothin. I remember nothin.ā€ You admit, standing up from the beam. Arthur hums, he remembers it all.
ā€œCome on, let's get you home, you need a lie down.ā€ Arthur groans, feeling like shit as he whistles. Luckily somehow, the horses stuck around and they trot up the main street.
The ride back to camp is very quiet, and very slow. Neither of you push your horses past a walk, not wanting to sicken yourselves even more. The silence is comfortable, a mutual understanding that opening your mouth to speak right now would be too much, and you just need to lie down and feel sorry for yourselves. Upon arriving at camp, you find Lenny is there, passed out in the grass next to his bedroll. You dismount Athena, groaning as your feet touch the ground.Ā
ā€œHere, take this. Itā€™ll make you feel better. Iā€™ll go make sure Grimshaw doesnā€™t give you any trouble.ā€ Arthur mumbles, handing you a glass bottle of tonic.Ā
You take it, quietly thanking him before dragging your heels to your tent. Youā€™ve never been this hungover in your life, youā€™ve never had reason to drink so much. After closing the tent flap to prevent any extra light from coming in, you drink the whole tonic and flop down in your bed, groaning.Ā
ā€” ā€” ā€” ā€”
You wake up, about twelve hours later, to the sounds of maniacal laughing and screaming. You groan, sighing and covering your ear with your pillow to drown out the noise. It proves futile as the screaming and crying continue, and you figure you should probably go check it out. You get up from bed, mood sour as ever,Ā  but youā€™re feeling a little better. Pushing the flaps open to your tent, youā€™re met with the pros and cons of living with twenty people.
ā€œMorninā€ Arthur chuckles, eyebrows raised at the state of your hair. Your braid is half fallen out, and the few flowers that have managed to stay in your hair are wilted. You groan, rolling your eyes before pulling the band out from the bottom of your braid and finger brushing the flowers out.Ā
ā€œWhat's got you so sour?ā€ Arthur asks, looking fresh and cleaned up. He's washed up, taken a bath and trimmed his beard. He looks good, and you look like you just barely escaped a natural disaster.
"How the hell are you even awake right now, let alone bathed and cleaned up? I'm pretty sure I still got puke on my shirt." You sigh, re-braiding your hair neatly, but loosely. Arthur takes a sip of his coffee.Ā
"I can actually handle my whiskey." Arthur jokes, "Go back to Valentine, buy a bath."Ā
"Firstly, I don't think you can, considerin'Ā  what happened last night. And on account of the bath, I can't. I don't have enough cash." You sigh.
"A bath is only a dollar, thought you had some cash on you?" Arthur raises an eyebrow as you roll back on your heels.Ā
"I did. I spent it."Ā
"On what?" Arthur asks, sure that he'd paid for the drinks last night, except for the ones you stole.
"Just a little present, it ain't much." You smile, sighing and gripping his hand to pull him into your tent. You lead him through the tent flap, pulling him along by his hand.
"What're you doin, woman?" Arthur chuckles as you pluck his hat from his head.Ā
"Don't make fun of me. I saw this yesterday, n' it reminded me of you." You whisper, pulling out the hat ornament and attaching it to the rope band on his hat, on the left side.Ā
Arthur watches on fondly as you attach the little accessory. A warm feeling spreads through his chest, knowing that you'd thought of him. After you've finished, you hold his hat back out to him. He takes the hat back with a shocked expression on his face, and you're worried he doesn't like it, so you rush to reassure him.
"If you don't like it, or think it's dumb- maybe this was stupid I just, it reminded me of you, and-" You ramble, stopping to prevent further embarrassing yourself.Ā
"It's perfect." Arthur smiles, looking down to the agate, feathered ornament, dappled with little stars that remind him of you. He means it. The little decoration is perfect. The teal agate matches his eyes, the imprinted metal ensures that you're with him all the time, as if you don't already linger in his mind 24/7. He couldn't have picked out something more perfect if he tried. The accessory is fashionable, a fancy and intricate piece to add to his hat, and he's excited to wear it.
You blush, smiling happily as Arthur fondly runs his finger over the accessory before placing his hat back on his head. You lean up, adjusting it correctly while on your tiptoes.Ā
"You carry a lot of bad memories with this hat," You whisper, thinking of Arthur's father, "Figure it's about time you make it yours, start makin' some good memories with it." You explain.Ā
"It's perfect, Star." Arthur all but whispers, and you sheepishly nod, blushing. Youā€™re proud of the little gift, and Arthur is shocked by the thought youā€™d put into it.Ā
ā€œLooks real nice. You needed somethinā€™ to match those eyes.ā€ You nod up to his hat as he leads you out of your tent. He opens his mouth to speak, but much to your growing annoyance, he is cut off by another yelp from across camp.
ā€œGoddamnit, what is happening?ā€ You groan, nodding for Arthur to follow you to the source. Youā€™re ready to beat the hell out of someone, irritated and hungover. You stomp towards the scout fire where the screaming and yelping comes from, with Arthur following behind you.
The scene in front of you is nothing short of insane. That Oā€™Driscoll from Colter is tied up to a tree. His pants have been pulled down to his knees and you make a point to avert your eyes from hisā€¦ nether region. His bare quads scrape painfully across the treebark as he fights to get away from Dutch. Your eyes boggle when you see Bill come around the corner of Dutchā€™s tent with a steaming red pair of gelding tongs.Ā
ā€œWhat are you idiots doinā€™ to this poor feller?ā€ You gesture to the Oā€™Driscoll, wincing at the way he shoves himself further into the tree to avoid Billā€™s eager tongs.
ā€œWeā€™re takinā€™ his balls!ā€ Bill laughs maniacally, looking all too pleased at the idea. He snaps the tongs a few times for good measure. Your jaw drops a little, and your eyebrows draw together in a mixture of shock and confusion.Ā
ā€œTheyā€™re only balls, boy! You probably weren't using them anyway!ā€ Dutch chuckles, slapping Bill on the back.
ā€œYouā€™re- Youā€™re ā€˜taking his ballsā€™? Really, Bill? What the hell is this, a farm? Get out of my way. Someone please pull his goddamn pants up.ā€ You sigh, ordering the men around. Bill just looks at you for a moment, but you glare at him, and remembering how hard you can hit, he obliges. You sigh, bracing your hand against your nose as Bill drops the tongs and fixes Kieranā€™s jeans. Then you push past Bill, shoving him out of the way to take his spot in front of Kieran. The Oā€™driscoll is terrified, shaking like a leaf on the tree as if youā€™re about to torture him. You eye him over curiously before turning on your heels and looking at the men before you.
ā€œWhat exactly do y'all want outta this feller?ā€ You question, making a plan to get some answers that doesnā€™t involve castration. Your hands rest on your gun belt, tapping the grip of your revolver in thought. Dutchā€™s eyes grow dark as he spits something onto the grass.Ā
ā€œWe want Colm.ā€
Turning back to Kieran, you eye the boy up and down.. Heā€™s a weaker looking fella, the kind you would have stolen off of back in Tumbleweed. Heā€™s terrified, and you know heā€™ll do anything to avoid a beating, including giving up his old pal, Colm. Heā€™s surely hungry and thirsty. Theyā€™ve only been giving him enough water to stay alive, and you donā€™t know if heā€™s eaten.Ā
ā€œYou hungry mister? Thirsty?ā€ You ask, watching as tears fall down the Oā€™driscolls mud-caked face. He frantically nods his head up and down.Ā
ā€œOh yes! Yes please, please. I'm so hungry, I- Iā€™m so thirsty, miss.ā€ Kieran whimpers, and you nod. Without another word you push past Arthur, Dutch and Bill, straight to Pearsonā€™s wagon. Arthur looks at Dutch, tossing his hands up lightly before following you. He comes up to your side, watching as you dip a metal cup into the barrel of water. Arthur lightly grabs your elbow to get your attention.
ā€œYou sure about this? He could be playinā€™ you.ā€ Arthur warns.Ā
ā€œYes, I'm sure. You wanna help? Get me your map.ā€ You say, leaning over the table to grab a piece of salted venison from the table. Arthur isnā€™t sure about this plan, but he trusts you. He nods, taking his map out of his satchel before following you back to the tree.Ā
ā€œYou.ā€ You nod to the Oā€™Driscoll, and he nods frantically, terrified of you, but glad that youā€™re not approaching him with some torture device.Ā
ā€œY-yes ma'am?ā€ Kieran whimpers, and you hold the deer and water up.Ā
ā€œYou want this?ā€Ā
Kieran nods, and you raise an eyebrow.Ā
ā€œGood. Point me to Colm nā€™ you can have it.ā€ You give him an ultimatum, knowing that he would rather deal with you than the boys any day. Kieran nods, flinching as you pull your knife from its sheath. You hold it up in front of him for him to see.Ā
ā€œTry anything, and thisā€™ll be lodged in you, okay?ā€ You warn, moving behind him before cutting him free from the tree. Kieran winces, rubbing at his wrists once heā€™s free. Dutch and Bill look irritated with you, but you pay them no mind as they file away. Arthur has laid his map out on Pearsonā€™s table, just as youā€™d asked him to, and Kieran rushes towards it. The Oā€™Driscoll eagerly leans over the map, following the roads with the tip of Arthurā€™s pencil before stopping and circling a small area north of Valentine.Ā
ā€œTheyā€™re holed up here. It- It's called Six Point Cabin, and Colm will be there. It should be easy, theyā€™ll all be drunk and asleep if you go now.ā€ Kieran offers, looking past the horizon where the sun is starting to set. You look at the circle on the map, then up to Kieran. He has many reasons to lie, but you dont think he's loyal to Colm. You donā€™t think heā€™s dumb enough to lie to you either. Butā€¦ just for good measure, you grip onto the collar of his shirt, threateningly.Ā
ā€œIf this is a lie, or youā€™re leading me into a trap, I will let this sick bastard take your manhood. You hear me? All. of. It.ā€ You threaten, pointing to Bill behind you. The Oā€™Driscoll frantically nods his head, audibly gulping at your promise. Quickly, you release him from your grip, dusting his shirt off a little from where your iron grip has left wrinkles.Once heā€™s been thoroughly threatened, you turn to Arthur, trying to ignore the sickness in your stomach as you hear the starved man gulp down all of the water, and tear into the venison..
ā€œGood! Now that that's settled, John, Arthur, youā€™re with me. The three of us should be able to get this done quickly.ā€ You tell the men, who are standing in a crowd behind you. John is wide eyed, shocked, but of course, Arthur isnā€™t. With a smirk, you pace through the wet grass towards Athena. Everyone mounts up and rides out pretty quickly, not wanting to waste another ounce of the limited daylight.Ā
ā€œWhen we get here, we should do it quietly. Arrows, knives. Thereā€™s no reason to start shooting if we can take them out quietly, one at a time.ā€ Arthur yells over the pounding of Baliusā€™ hooves. Heā€™s right, doing this quietly will give you the best chance of getting to Colm before he can run.Ā Ā
ā€œI agree. John, you know how to use a bow?ā€ You ask.
ā€œHa! Little Johnny Marston over here canā€™t shoot a bow. Not that I should be surprised, he canā€™t do much of anything. Canā€™t even swim.ā€ Arthur pokes, chuckling in his saddle at his own stab.Ā
ā€œOh shut the hell up you big bastard.ā€ John counters, irritated as usual. It's quiet for a bit as the three of you enter Cumberland Forest, moving into a single file line to fit on the narrow trails.Ā
ā€œHowā€™s your leg holdinā€™ up?ā€ John yells up to you. Instinctually you trace the scar that's hidden under your jeans.
ā€œItā€™s fine now, healed up nice for the most part.ā€ You chuckle, hollering back, ā€œHowā€™s your face?ā€Ā
ā€œUgly as always.ā€ John chuckles.
ā€œHey, quiet, I think weā€™re close.ā€ Arthur says back to you both, slowing Balius down to a trot. You all grow quiet, trotting the horses into the woods and hitching them off of the trail a ways. After dismounting, you offer Athena an oatcake for her work. The boys wait as she finishes it, and then you grab your bow from her saddle. Arthur and John crouch behind a fallen log, and you get down, coming between them.
ā€œThat bastard werenā€™t lyinā€™.ā€ Arthur whispers to himself, shocked.Ā
The camp has one large cabin surrounded by various tents and wagons. Campfires scatter the place alongside a decent number of drunken idiots. Most of the Oā€™Driscolls have retired for the night, snuffed out their lanterns and hit the hay. Some of them voluntarily went to bed, others passed out, completely wasted. A few Oā€™driscolls with greasy hair and green bandanas sit around a campfire, not far from where youā€™re all perched.Ā
ā€œArthur?ā€ You ask, waiting for some instruction. You and John both look to him as he formulates a plan, getting a headcount of the Oā€™Driscolls and peeking around for other vantage points.Ā
ā€œOkay we take out the ones at the fire from here. I count four. I'm good with knives, so I'll take two and you each take one.ā€ Arthur grumbles, pulling out two throwing knives from his satchel. Youā€™re curious if he has the skill to take down two so in such quick succession. If heā€™s just a split second late, the Oā€™Driscoll will alert others. Glad that your job is easy, you grab your bow from your shoulder, steadying it in your hand as you squint to aim for one of the awake Oā€™Driscolls. You exhale, releasing your hand just before the arrow lodges into the manā€™s chest. Within two seconds the other three men fall, thanks to John and Arthur.Ā
ā€œGood job with the bow.ā€ Arthur whispers, and your breath hitches in your throat when his hand squeezes your elbow with a small, proud smile. He doesnā€™t miss the hitch of your breath, and unbeknownst to you, he blushes, removing his hand from you and shaking his head. John looks over to Arthur with a raised eyebrow and a chuckle. Oh, he's gonna chastise Arthur for that later. Rolling your eyes, you glare back at the boys.
ā€œStop foolinā€™ around,ā€ You hiss, ā€œWe sneak in and look for Colm. I'll take the cabin. John, go see what's worth stealinā€™ from their tents, but donā€™t wake anyone up. Arthur, cover me if I need it, please.ā€Ā
With that you stay crouched, jogging off in the direction of the cabin. You have to step over the sleeping men, and be extra careful not to wake them as you go. Colm better be here. If heā€™s not, you'll hand that Oā€™Driscoll straight over to Bill tied with a ribbon. You gave him a second chance, and by god, heā€™d be a fool not to take it.Ā
Approaching the cabin, you take a quick glance through the windows. The glass is very dirty, and even squinting through the dirty glass, you can't see much. There's no light emitting from the cabin, so you assume its empty or everyone is asleep.Ā
You quietly step around to the front porch, hoping that this isnā€™t one big waste of time. Your spurs click ever so quietly with every step as you approach the front door. You lean down a little, readying your bow in case someone jumps out.Ā  Just as you reach out for the door handle, you hear a sharp, quiet whistle, one that youā€™d recognize anywhere. Your head snaps around and you spot Arthur down a ways in the middle of the camp. He leans his head down a little, warning you to be safe before he gestures to your bow and then to his knife. Despite the fact that hes signaling you without speaking, you know exactly what heā€™s saying.Ā
He's telling you to put your bow away and pull out your knife instead, you curse yourself, realizing that youā€™d neglected to use your head. You need two hands to pull the bow, and opening the door leaves you vulnerable. The knife is a better option. You nod to Arthur in thanks, and swing your bow back over your shoulder before grabbing your hunting knife. You pull it out of its sheath, readying it as you grip the door handle.Ā  You hear a loud grunt from the camp, and as you snap your head over you see that one of the Oā€™Driscolls had woken up, and Arthur knocked him out. You need to hurry.
Ā With one hand gripping your blade, the other turns the door knob. You push it open quickly, holding up your knife in defense. It's pitch dark inside the cabin, and it takes a few moments for your eyes to adjust as you step inside. The cabin is pretty standard, across from you is a fireplace, a large table and some bedrolls laid out. You step further into the cabin and find two half-empty bowls on the table. Theyā€™re filled with some sort of mushy, brown looking stew, and theyā€™re still steamingā€¦Ā
You connect the dots too late. By the time you whip around, the men who were hiding in the shadows of the cabin slam the door shut so you canā€™t escape. Your eyes grow dark, and you back up as they step towards you until your back hits the far wooden wall. The two Oā€™Driscolls are tall. They could be twins, black hair hidden away by bowlerā€™s hats, green scarves around their thick necks. They repulse you.Ā
ā€œGet back you bastards, ā€˜less you wanna end up like your sorry friends.ā€ You threaten, holding your knife up in warning. The bigger one chuckles while the smaller one slides a chair under the handle of the door.
ā€œOh, Gabe, sheā€™s a fiery little thing.ā€ He says with a sickening, greedy grin on his lips. You hear Arthur try the door knob, cursing that itā€™s locked.Ā
ā€œAnyone touches a hair on her goddamn head Iā€™ll kill the whole lot of ya!ā€ Arthur yells from behind the door. You can hear him dropping his weapons, and you know heā€™s going to try to kick the door down, but he won't be able to with the chair. Youā€™re on your own.
ā€œSheā€™s a little one. Sheā€™ll be easy to handle,ā€ The other man says before directing his attention to you, bringing up his knife and running it along the jut of your cheekbone. Your knife is in your hand, hidden behind your back as you come up with a plan to take them both down. You know his threat isnā€™t empty. You know what the Oā€™driscolls have done to women, proudly, with no shame. Youā€™ll be damned if you go down without a fight.
Ā ā€œHey, sweet thing, is that your man out there? Cause I want him to hear what we're gonna do to y-ā€ You take a deep breath before plunging your knife into the manā€™s throat with a roar. Blood shoots out from his jugular, spraying all over you. Just as quickly as you had inserted it, you tear it out, and he falls to the floor, clinging to his neck. The sound of flesh tearing sounds through the room as you aim for the second man. Just as you bring the knife down towards his chest he catches your hands. You can hear the loud, angry thumps and screams of Arthur trying to beat the door down, along with his string of threats and curses towards the Oā€™Driscolls. Shots ring out from around you, presumably youā€™ve woken up the entire Oā€™Driscoll camp and now John is dealing with them. You struggle against the man for a while, as you try to push the knife down into him, and he tries to turn it around. Arthur gives up on the door, instead running around the side of the building to smash in one of the windows. He doesnā€™t know what's happening, he can't see whoā€™s winning this fight, or what's happening to you, all he knows is that youā€™re struggling and yelling. As the glass shatters, you hesitate, letting your guard down. A painful sting slices along your abdomen, and you glance down to see that the man has cut your stomach through your shirt. Itā€™s not very deep, but it could have been.
ā€œYou goddamn bastard!ā€ You hiss as the Oā€™Driscoll backs away. He smirks, watching you struggle. Arthur wastes no time jumping through the shattered window before running and tackling the Oā€™Driscoll to the ground. Arthur starts beating the Oā€™Driscoll, knocking chairs and items down, and after he gets a few punches in, Arthur smashes the mans head against the wall, killing or knocking him out.
ā€œColm aint even here!ā€ You seethe, holding a hand against your stomach to ease the sting. Arthur looks up, seeing you covered in a spatter of blood. Immediately, he rushes over to you.Ā
ā€œHow much of this blood is yours?ā€ He asks, running his eyes down your shirt until he sees the tear in it.Ā
ā€œNot much of it, Iā€™m fine Arthur, just a scratch.ā€ You sigh, looking down at your destroyed shirt, ā€œShit.ā€Ā
It was a good shirt, and now itā€™ll be joining the burn pile when you get back to camp. You groan,Ā  realizing youā€™ll have to ride back to camp like this.Ā
ā€œIs John okay? And where the hell is Colm?ā€ You ask, pulling up your shirt a bit to look over the cut. Itā€™s just over the lip of your jeans, not deep, but a few inches wide. You wonā€™t need stitches, thankfully.Ā
ā€œJohns fine, lootin the camp now, and who knows where the hell Colm is.ā€ Arthur says, eyes fixated on the bleeding patch of skin in between your jeans and shirt.Ā
ā€œYou think that boy Kieran set us up?ā€ Arthur asks, making a mental note to buy you some poultice, considering how much you use it.Ā
ā€œNo. Heā€™s not that stupid, or that brave. Donā€™t think he wants to lose his balls just yet.ā€ Arthur chuckles. He motions for you to follow him out, but you raise your finger up signaling him to wait.Ā
ā€œAll this, and we ainā€™t gonna rob the place?ā€ You ask, and Arthur watches as you climb over the scattered items and corpses. As if you knew exactly where it was going to be, you walk up to the chimney, reach into it and pull out a wad of cash. Quickly, you run your fingers through the folds, counting six hundred dollars. Arthur huffs, forever amused by you, especially as you walk towards him and then stop. You turn on your heels, looking up to the double barrelled shotgun resting on the mantle, and with a satisfied hum, you strut right over and pluck it from the wall.Ā
ā€œOkay now we can go.ā€ You say, walking past Arthur with a smile, soaked in blood.Ā
ā€œWhatever you say, boss.ā€ Arthur mumbles, whispering the last part before you glare at him .
ā€” ā€” ā€” ā€”
Youā€™d stopped in Valentine on the way back, breaking off from Arthur and John to take a bath at the hotel. Youā€™d taken your time, using almost every bath soap and oil just to try them out. Each one smelled so good, it was well into the night before youā€™d finished. It was a refresher that you needed, and deserved. With a new hundred dollar bill in your pocket from the job, youā€™d rented a room for the rest of the night, and then bought yourself some new clothes in the morning. You picked out a nicer outfit than usual, a dark burgundy shirt, over the shoulder styled with ruffles on your arms. Itā€™s beautiful, and fancy, something youā€™re not used to. You tucked the shirt into a new pair of black jeans, and smiled contentedly in the mirror before braiding your hair down your back and heading back to camp.Ā
Much to your surprise, Arthur convinced the boys to let Kieran live, and to keep his manhood. Now as you peel potatoes next to Sadie at Pearsonā€™s table, you watch him talk to and pet Athena with a small smile. Sadie follows your gaze, scoffing.Ā
ā€œYou should have just killed him. Canā€™t trust any of those damn Oā€™Driscolls.ā€ She hisses, garing daggers at the man, causing him to tremble lightly as he feeds Athena a mint.Ā
ā€œHe ainā€™t hurtinā€™ nothing. Sides, same thing could be said about us.ā€ You point out, and Sadie doesnā€™t argue back, but she shakes her head in disapproval. You havenā€™t seen much of her since meeting in Colter. Sheā€™s kept to herself, hid amongst the shadows and cried herself to sleep most nights. You can see her bottling up, hardening. Sheā€™s turning into youĀ
ā€œStar?ā€Ā
You look up, drawn out of your thoughts to see Abigail smiling down at you. There is a subtle redness to her eyes that indicates sheā€™s been crying, and your eyebrows draw together in worry.Ā
ā€œEverything okay?ā€ You ask, standing from your seat and dropping your knife to the table.Ā
ā€œCould we talk for a minute?ā€ She asks, a hand sheepishly toying with a piece of her hair.Ā
ā€œCourseā€¦ Whatā€™s goinā€™ on?ā€ You ask, smiling back to Sadie in an apology before following Abigail towards her tent.Ā
ā€œWell, it's the boy.ā€ Abigail says, biting on her nails as she leads you into her A-frame. Before the flap falls closed, you glance out of the tent to see Jack playing with a toy horse. He seems fine, just playing as children his age do. You look at her, confused, as she sits down on the corner of his tent.Ā
ā€œHeā€™s real sad, Star.ā€ Abigail exhales, tears forming in her eyes that she pushes back, ā€œJohn donā€™t- John donā€™t really care about him like a father should.ā€ Abigail sighs, and you move to sit on the open space beside her.
ā€œArthurā€™s always been there for Jack, even when John leftā€¦ā€ Abigail says, and you make a note to ask Arthur about it, you donā€™t recall hearing of John leaving.
ā€œI'm sorry to ask, and I know itā€™s unfair to, but could you or Arthur take him somewhere, or do somethinā€™ with him? He looks up to you both so much.ā€ Abigail explains, and you place your hand over hers, nodding. You canā€™t imagine how she does it all. This life is an unkind one, and raising a child amidst it? Youā€™re sure it's tough. Your heart aches for Jack, and you understand the pain of wanting to be loved by a father that chooses his life over his kids.
ā€œOf course, Abigail, Iā€™d be happy to. I miss Jack, havenā€™t gotten to chat with him in a while.ā€ You explain, and Abigail smiles bittersweet.Ā
ā€œThank you so much, Iā€™ll owe you.ā€Ā
ā€œNonsense, you don't owe me nothin, thisā€™ll be fun. Let me find Arthur, we still have some time before dark.ā€ You respond, pushing the tent flaps open before walking out. The sun is just beginning to set over the mountains, and you reckon that you have a few hours yet. You manage to find Arthur carrying a bale of hay across the camp, and he drops it to the ground in front of the horses.Ā
ā€œRide with me?ā€ You call to him, and he looks over at you, pausing for a moment to take in your new shirt, and the neat braid running down your back.Ā
ā€œCourse, always.ā€Arthur says, entranced by the way you look in the dark red blouse. He debates telling you that you look beautiful, but decides that it would sound odd, so he coughs awkwardly and follows you.Ā
ā€œWhere we goinā€™?ā€ He asks, dusting some hay splinters off of his hands.Ā
ā€œThat's up to you, mister. Weā€™re takinā€™ Jack out.ā€ You say excitedly, leading him towards the boulder where the boy sits. Arthur watches as you sort of skip along, smiling to himself.Ā
ā€œHow about fishinā€™?ā€ Arthur asks, and you stop dead in your tracks, turning around to squint at him.Ā
ā€œYou gotta take a lady and a child out for fun and you wanna fish?ā€ You ask, lost on his decision. But Arthur looks pretty excited, and you canā€™t help but laugh.Ā
ā€œWell sure, fishinā€™ is fun.ā€ Arthur defends, covering his heart in mock pain.Ā
ā€œYeah and so is dysentery, are you serious?ā€ You huff, chuckling with a shocked expression. Arthur looks at you like he canā€™t fathom why anybody would think fishing to be boring.Ā
ā€œFine, weā€™ll go fishing, but you gotta do something that's actually fun with me later.ā€ You chuckle, approaching Jack. Heā€™s playing with a wooden horse, a sad little frown on his face.Ā
ā€œHey buddy, do you like fishinā€™?ā€ You ask him immediately, kneeling down to his level. He looks up to you almost offended.
ā€œAunt Star, fish are smelly! I hate fishing!ā€ He says, looking up to you with drawn together eyebrows.Ā
ā€œWell weā€™re goinā€™ fishin, so go get your pole off of Uncle Hosea.ā€ Arthur says, and Jack sighs, stomping off towards Hoseaā€™s tent.Ā
ā€œArthur Morgan.ā€ You chastise, looking at him with an open jaw.Ā
ā€œWhat? Itā€™ll be good for him, heā€™s practically the man of the house now, considerinā€™ Johnā€™s contributions-ā€ Arthur starts, sarcastically and you swat his chest to shut him up.
ā€œGo get on your horse with your damn pole, Iā€™ll meet you over there.ā€ You sigh, waiting for Jack to come back with his little pole. You smile sweetly at him as he jogs back towards you, a grumpy little frown on his face.Ā
ā€œI donā€™t even know how to fish that good, but at least I get to stay up past my bedtime!ā€ Jack says, handing his pole out to you, ā€œCan I ride with you? Uncle Arthurā€™s horse looks scaryā€¦ā€ Jack mumbles, looking at the huge black stallion with trepidation. You chuckle, thinking that Athena is definitely more of a force to be reckoned with, but you trust her.Ā
ā€œSure buddy, cā€™mon.ā€ You nudge him towards the horses with your hand. Arthur has the horses all tacked up, and is tightening the last cinch on Athenaā€™s saddle when you approach him. You climb up into the saddle first, sliding back as far as you can against the seat, and then Arthur lifts Jack up with a groan, placing him down right in front of you.Ā
ā€œYou got a spot picked out?ā€ You ask, turning Athena towards the trail out of camp while Arthur mounts up.Ā
ā€œYeah, head down to the Dakota, there's a nice spot down by the bank.ā€Ā
Per Jackā€™s request, you lope down the slope towards the river. You make sure to keep Athena at a very slow, steady pace so that Jack doesnā€™t lose his balance. Athena seems to be aware of the fragile life on her back, and takes extra soft steps. Jack giggles the whole time, a belly aching laughter as he hangs on to the horn in front of you for dear life. Heā€™s upset when you have to slow down, but grateful for the fun that it was.Ā
ā€œHere should do.ā€ Arthur says, pulling Balius off the road. Heā€™s chosen a spot in the river with a deep pool off the bank, a nice spot. The grass comes down almost to the water, and wildflowers and big rocks scatter around the area, creating a perfectly peaceful resting spot. Itā€™s a perfect place to read or chat, but of course youā€™re here to catch fish. Arthur dismounts, coming over and lifting Jack down from the saddle onto the grass. You follow, and both of the horses step aside to munch on the sweet grass.Ā
ā€œEither of you know how to fish?ā€ Arthur asks, hands resting on his gun belt. You and Jack both shake your heads and Arthur nods, moving firstly to Jack. You stay quiet, watching on as Arthur adds a worm to Jackā€™s hook. He shows Jack how to do it, and then gets him cast out into the water. Despite his predisposition to fishing, Jack seems rather proud of himselfĀ
ā€œReal good, Jack!ā€ Arthur smiles, patting Jack on the shoulder. You conclude that he must have been an incredible father, it all comes so naturally to him. Jack looks up to Arthur, so proud of himself, and your heart aches for the whole situation.Ā
ā€œNow, when you got a bite, let me know. We can reel it in together.ā€ Arthur says, nodding to Jack before coming towards you.
ā€œI think Iā€™m gonna sit this one out, Arthurā€ You chuckle, and Arthur nods.Ā
ā€œFair enough.ā€
Jack waits for a long while next to Arthur, and both have their backs faced to you as you sit in the grass behind them. You pluck some pieces of grass from the dirt, and then bored, you grab your little journal. Arthur and Jack talk about nothing and everything at the same time, waiting for something to bite. Eventually, Arthur gets a catch, and he shows Jack how to gut and store it, and then theyā€™re back to waiting. The whole process is a bit mind numbing for you, and your attention is focused solely on the pages of your journal as you update it.Ā
New horses, new blacksmith, and a newfound sobriety after the other night. Lots of things are changing, and yet lots remain the same. It's a confusing thing, and I find myself so caught up in between what I should do and what I want that I fear itā€™s breaking me in two. Honestly, its getting harder to tell the two apart any-
Your pen stills, as you look up to where Arthur and Jack stand. Youā€™re sure you heard what heā€™s just said, but still you find yourself analyszing it.Ā
ā€œYā€™know I taught another boy to fish once.ā€ Arthur says quietly, head turning towards Jack. Jack looks up at Arthur with his eyebrows drawn together, mirroring exactly your expression.Ā
ā€œLenny?ā€ The boy asks, and Arthur chuckles, recasting his line.Ā
ā€œNo, not Lenny. This was long before I even met Lenny. Hell, before you was born too.ā€ Arthur sighs, recounting just how many years it's been. Sometimes heā€™s grateful that his life doesnā€™t require the modern calendar. The passing of time would be far too painful if he was more aware of it. Jackā€™s confusion turns to excitement, as he once again misinterprets Arthurā€™s words.Ā
ā€œOh! What is his name? Could I meet him? Iā€™d like to have a friendā€¦ā€ Jack says, not quite old enough to understand the passing of time, and the growth of children to adults. Heā€™s never been around other children before, and you canā€™t blame him for his naivete. Arthurā€™s head dips down, and a bittersweet smile tugs at his lips. You watch on, connecting the dots with an ache in your heart.Ā
ā€œNah, donā€™t think youā€™ll be able to meet him, buddy. He woulda liked you though, was only a few years older than you.ā€ Arthur whispers, swallowing thickly as a fish tugs on his line. He doesnā€™t even bother to reel it, staring blankly across the river, lost in thought.Ā
ā€œOh. What happened to him, Uncle Arthur?ā€ Jack asks innocently, pulling on his rod too quickly while trying to attract a fish.Ā
ā€œHe passed away.ā€ Arthur mumbles, and the night grows silent save for the buzzing of frogs and the quiet splashes of water. Arthur gives Jack a few more pointers, but after a bit, Jack is tired of fishing, and he sets his pole down, yawning as he walks over towards you.Ā
ā€œIā€™m bored now.ā€ Jack states, sitting beside you while plucking a few wildflowers from the grass, ā€œMaybe Iā€™ll make a flower necklace for momma.ā€
Smiling at the kid, soothed by the sounds of Arthurā€™s pole splashing in the river, you lean back against a boulder, looking up at the night sky. Itā€™s still early, and streaks of orange and red paint the sky alongside dark blue. Itā€™s a beautiful night, and even though its early, you can still point out a few weak constellations.Ā
ā€œWhat are you looking at, Aunt Star?ā€ Jack asks, curiously tiptoeing towards you with a bundle of flowers in his hand. He plops down right beside you, sitting against your waist as he starts to weave the flower stems together. Now Arthur is the one eavesdropping, pole dipping into the water as he listens to you and Jackā€™s conversation.Ā
ā€œOh, the stars, I guess.ā€ You chuckle, thinking that you find yourself answering that question with the same answer frequently. But you just canā€™t help but eye them, theyā€™re so beautiful, so free. Jack yawns, leaning his head against you as his fingers slow down on his little project.Ā
ā€œYou like looking at stars, don't you?ā€ Jack asks, eyes never leaving his flower necklace. Arthur chuckles, asking you the same question in his head. They seem to follow you like a trail, leaving star-shaped kisses on your heart.Ā
ā€œYeah, I do. I think theyā€™re fun to watch. Arenā€™t they just beautiful?ā€ You ask, watching as the whole sky twinkles and flickers. Jack nods, yawning again.Ā
ā€œThey sure are.ā€Ā
You watch them for a while, occasionally glancing ahead to watch the slopes of Arthurā€™s back as he packs up his fishing pole, retiring for the night. After everything is all packed, he starts to make his way towards the two of you. Jack snores lightly against you, and surprised, you look down to find him asleep. Arthur smiles at this before sitting down against the rock at your side with a groan. He rests against your side opposite of Jack, and as he takes his hat off, dropping it to the ground, your hand reaches out to rest over his knee.Ā
ā€œYā€™okay?ā€ You ask, turning your head to gauge his eyes. Arthurā€™s eyebrows draw together, and he nods.Ā
ā€œSure, why?ā€Ā
ā€œThat must have been hard to talk about.ā€ You nod towards the bank, recalling Arthurā€™s memory to the conversation about Isaac. Arthur sighs deeply, removing the weight of the world off his shoulders as his hand covers your own on his knee.Ā
ā€œItā€™s gettinā€™ easier.ā€ He admits, but his eyes are far away, lost somewhere decades ago.Ā
ā€œTell me about him.ā€ You invite, leaving the decision up to him. You wonā€™t be upset if he chooses not to talk about it, you understand isolation better than most. But if he chooses to open up, youā€™ll be there. A supporter, a friend, an ear, whatever he needs.Ā
ā€œThereā€™s a lot to tellā€¦ā€ Arthur huffs, squeezing your hand lightly.Ā
ā€œWe got time, if youā€™re comfortable.ā€ You whisper, hand instinctively running up and down Jackā€™s sleeping back. Arthur nods, tongue darting out over his lips for a moment. Heā€™s never told anyone the full story before, but as he looks into your warm, familiar eyes, he knows he can trust you.Ā
ā€œAbout fifteen years ago we was stayinā€™ in this town, we were there for a while,ā€ Arthur toys with your hands, avoiding your eyes, ā€œGot to know this waitress, god- she was just a kid, only eighteen at the timeā€¦ Eliza was her name. We had- well it was nothinā€™ special, just someone to spend the night with. First time it happened we were both drunk, both hurtinā€™. Then everytime I was in town Iā€™d stop by her place.ā€ Arthur shakes his head, disappointed in his actions, ā€œIt was wrong, but we were young and stupid and lookinā€™ to feel somethinā€™ other than hurt I guess.ā€ Arthur whispers, a crease in his forehead from the way his eyebrows are drawing together in pain. You squeeze his hand gently, letting him know youā€™re still present and listening before he continues.Ā
ā€œOne day, after weā€™ve been doinā€™ this a while, I rode up and I just knew somethinā€™ was wrongā€¦ Said she was pregnant, said it was mine.ā€ Arthur brings his knee up, resting his arm on it as he recalls memories that he has spent years shoving down, ā€œI knew it was. I didnā€™t know what to do, I was so lost, Star. I knew I wanted to do right by her, so I made sure she had enough money so she wouldnā€™t have to work no moreā€¦ā€Ā
You lean your head against Arthurā€™s shoulder as he runs his thumb over your knuckles. Youā€™re terrified of the end of this story, and you wish there were something you could do to ease his pain.
ā€œI wasnā€™t ready to be a dad- not in the least. I had no role model worth a damn, and I was so afraid of turninā€™ into my daddyā€¦ā€ He whispers, and your eyes glance to his hat on the ground, and the new accessory adorning it.Ā
ā€œBut then he was born.ā€ Arthur chuckles, a little huff at some good memory in his head, ā€œHe looked just like me, and he was growinā€™ so fast.ā€ Arthur has a joyful smile on his lips, but it dies out the longer he stays silent, thinking about the next chapter to Isaacā€™s life.Ā
ā€œI stopped by when I could, always brought him somethinā€™ from my travelsā€¦ Heā€™d get so excited when I rode up, Eliza was always hollerinā€™ after him for runninā€™ out the house.ā€ Arthur whispers, an ache in his red eyes.
ā€œI taught him how to write, how to draw, even how to fish and ride. My lord, did that kid love horses.ā€ Arthur huffs a chuckle, ā€œBoadicea especially, she was just under saddle then, a handful of yearsā€¦ He named her- named her after a queen from one of the books I read him. He liked history too. He was such a good kid, Isaac. Smart like his momma and stubborn as all hell like his daddy.ā€
The smile from fond memories fade away, and are replaced by an old pain. One so deep that you know you could never attempt to reach the bottom. His hand shakes lightly, encased over your own, and he swallows thickly, looking down at his lap.Ā
ā€œOne day I was goinā€™ back like always, but this time I had a real big surprise for him. Saved up for a long while nā€™ got him his first pony, a chestnut like Bo, his favoriteā€¦ I rode up the trail, it had been about a month, soon as I got up the path I saw two crosses out front and I just knew.ā€Ā
Tears trail down your cheeks, and you squeeze Arthurā€™s hand. Itā€™s all you can do to let him know you're here, feeling this with him. He knows. Youā€™re here, and that's more than enough. Jack is still blissfully asleep in your arms as Arthur finds the strength to continue, unshed tears in his eyes that he wonā€™t allow to fall.
ā€œFound her daddy, he said some gang had come through. Robbed nā€™ killed them for ten goddamn dollars,ā€ Arthur inhales deeply, and that tear finally falls as he whispers, ā€œAnd Star- his grave plot was so small. He was there and then he wasnā€™t, and poor Eliza. She deserved so much better than that, than what I provided, they both didā€¦ā€ Arthur regains his composure, hiding his face from you as he sniffs and wipes the tear away.Ā
ā€œI fell hard into the bottle after that, didnā€™t come back up for a long while.ā€Ā
Arthur looks over at you then, and at the sleeping boy in the crook of your arm. Youā€™re shocked, speechless, and hurting for a loss that you never had to grieve. The trauma that Arthurā€™s gone through, the loss, and he still gives so much, he has such a big heart and yours aches for his.
ā€œArthur I- Iā€™m so sorry.ā€ You breathe out, tear tracks running down your cheeks, ā€œIā€™m so sorry youā€™ve had to carry that alone.ā€Ā
Sitting in silence for a few moments, offering eachother little glances and touches of support, a question pops into your head.Ā
ā€œYou a religious man, Arthur?ā€ You ask, looking up to him from against his shoulder. His eyebrows pull together, not expecting this question as he shakes his head.Ā
ā€œI donā€™t know, not really.ā€ He explains, having heard a lot about church and god, but never having actually listened, ā€œWhy, you believe in all that?ā€ he asks.Ā
ā€œI believe that some way or another, we all get what we deserve in the end, whether that be redemption or mercy or suffering. And kids? They gotta be granted somethinā€™ good.ā€Ā  You mumble, thinking about it all. Arthur purses his lips, placing his hat back on his head as he looks down at you.Ā
ā€œNā€™ what about folks like us? What do we deserve?ā€ Arthur asks, looking at your intertwined hands. You could have pulled away by now, but you havenā€™t. You sigh, contemplating his loaded question before coming up empty handed.Ā
ā€œI donā€™t know.ā€
Arthur nods, holding your hand up to exaggerate the fact that youā€™re holding his hand, pressed into his side.Ā
ā€œWhat are we doinā€™ here, Star?ā€ Arthur finally asks, a question that has been on his lips for a while. You bite your lip nervously, looking at your intertwined hands before pulling yours back, and placing it over Jackā€™s sleeping form.Ā
ā€œItā€™s nothing, Arthur.ā€ You say plainly, anxiety panging in your chest at his directness, and he sighs.Ā
ā€œIs it?ā€
ā€œArthur, stop.ā€ You warn, wanting the conversation to be over. You donā€™t want to talk about this, not now, not here.Ā
ā€œWhy do you keep closinā€™ up on me?ā€ Arthur begs, having just poured his heart out to you, and you canā€™t manage to speak to him about anything. You don't speak, eyes purposely avoiding Arthur as your cheeks burn red. You want to cry, to scream, to tell him everything, but you canā€™t. You canā€™t because people you love get hurt, and people you love hurt you. Arthur sighs, watching as tears pool in your eyes. Heā€™ll wait.Ā
Youā€™re about to wake up Jack, to take him back home. Just as you start to move, a pair of horses trots down the road, pulling off the bank where you sit. Arthur is up in a second, confronting the people riding up in the night. It happens so shockingly quickly that you donā€™t even have time to ask questions. Jack stirs awake, confused and sleepy as you shove him behind you.Ā
ā€œGood evening! Iā€™m Agent Milton, this is Agent Ross.ā€ A man calls out, climbing down from his branded chestnut morgan. His uniform is identical to his partnerā€™s, stamped with a damning Pinkerton Detective Agency seal, and you gasp.Ā
ā€œMr. Morgan, and you,ā€ The bald man, Milton, looks to you then, scowling, ā€œI hear they call you Star now, right? Though itā€™s not the name on the bounty poster, is it?ā€ He chuckles, humorless. Then, he gestures to Jack hiding behind your legs.Ā
ā€œIā€™d ask if heā€™s the both of yours, but you ainā€™t been riding with these degenerates long enough.ā€ The agent nods to you, as you fume.
ā€œTell me, Mr. Morgan. Did you coax this poor woman into joining you? Did you tell her all about your philosophy? Your code? Or was that all old Dutch?ā€
ā€œWhat do you want?ā€ You hiss, ready to kill these men. Your hand has flickered to your holster more than once, but you hesitate, not wanting Jack to see.Ā
ā€œWe want Dutch. You give us him and we'll clear your names. You know what they say about a king-less monarchy, hmm?ā€ Ross says. Arthur steps forward then, feigning innocence.Ā
ā€œWe ainā€™t seen Dutch, not in a long while.ā€ Arthur explains, but Milton chuckles, shaking his head.Ā
ā€œYeah thatā€™s what Mac Callander said too, before I shot him, it was really more of a mercy kill.ā€ Milton hisses, and your jaw falls. Arthur is filled with rage, hands clenched tightly as he holds back for Jackā€™s sake.Ā
ā€œHe didnā€™t talk though, donā€™t worry.ā€ Ross chuckles, walking back towards his horse.Ā
ā€œYou best think over our offer, youā€™re running out of time.ā€ Ross hisses, climbing back onto his horse.Ā
ā€œHave a good night, kid. You donā€™t got many more of them.ā€ Milton addresses Jack, and you shove the boy behind you as they gallop off.Ā
ā€œArthur-ā€ You exhale, shocked and terrified. The Pinkertons have caught up, and if theyā€™ve chased you this far, you doubt theyā€™ll ever stop.
ā€œThis ainā€™t good. We better get the boy home, talk with Dutch. He ainā€™t gonna be happy about this.ā€ Arthur says, low with a dark edge. Nervously, you watch them ride off.Ā
ā€œYou think weā€™re gonna have to move again? We just got here.ā€ You exhale, emotional at the thought of leaving. This is one of the first places youā€™ve felt at home in a long time.Ā
ā€œI donā€™t know. Cā€™mon, weā€™ll get Jack back and see.ā€
ā€” ā€” ā€” ā€”Ā
Dutch isnā€™t worried about the Pinkertons. No, he's furious. He sees it as some personal stab at his ego. Your eyes roll, sitting beside Arthur outside of Dutchā€™s tent.Ā
ā€œI donā€™t think you understand, Dutch, they know where we are. They killed Mac.ā€ Arthur growls, trying to get Dutch to see reason. But Dutchā€™s mind is clouded by delusions of grandeur. He believes he can win the fight against the agency, and you think heā€™s a fool.Ā
ā€œTheyā€™re testing us, son. Theyā€™re pushing us. They think they can herd us? Me? Theyā€™re wrong. We are NOT abiding by the rules to their twisted games. We are staying here!ā€ Dutch yells, and Arthur sighs, begging Ā Dutch to cut his loses, but the man is insistent. Arthur tries to speak, but Dutch cuts him off, placing a hand on his shoulder.Ā
ā€œSon, in the morning I need you to go get Sean. We are not losing anyone else.ā€ Dutch orders, then he moves towards the fire where John is. You and Arthur share a worried glance before following him.Ā
ā€œJohn! Gather what you need, we are HITTING THAT TRAIN!ā€ Dutch calls out, smiling brightly as if his master plan is falling together, ā€œWatch them try to control this crew. Weā€™ll hit their bounty hunters, hit their train in the same goddamn day. This is going to be beautiful.ā€
Your stomach turns as you recall Dutchā€™s orders about needing your level head on the robbery. You have a bad feeling about this train, a real bad one. But as John and Arthur start packing to head in separate directions tomorrow, you realize that thereā€™s no way out of it. Youā€™re a van der Linde now, and you follow his orders.

Some replies! About a certain foxā€™s career and about bottoms potentially spoiling their topsā€¦
Anonymous asked:
So Iā€™ve seen around Leona x Idia and politely ask you for some (and please donā€™t make the wholesome) headcannons if your able to
Anon! Unfortunately, Iā€™ll have to politely refuse because we donā€™t really ship Leona and Idia :(
Anonymous asked:
Honest John should make an Onlyfans. How do you think he would do with that?
Anonā€™s out there using his legal name šŸ˜ Jk this one also isnā€™t his legal nameā€¦
I think he has a lot of potential! There would be a learning curve because he properly doesnā€™t know how to use technology super well, but he knows how porn and pinups work, soā€¦ Even though his taste is a bit old-fashionedā€¦ I think that would make him fit into a very specific niche šŸ¤”
And if it works, that would make him euphoric ā€“ imagine earning money like that without really risking it?? People who have money to spend really are naĆÆve saps! He would laugh at them as if he is not genuinely enjoying himself for the first time in forever lol
Realistically, his biggest issue is that he absolutely doesnā€™t have a credit card to receive payments, and he doesnā€™t have a proper ID, but with the right kinds of friends thatā€™s probably easy to fix!
Anonymous asked:
bless you for the rookvil love the art its so wonderful!! <3 and the rookvil girlies on your priv X aaa <3333 Rook in lingerie is such a treat!! i remember you said she doesn't like to be touched and i was wondering if there's a specific reason you say why? is it just rook girlie or all the top girlies? omg do any of the bottoms return the pleasure for their tops or spoil them back? ok ill stop buT I DO LOVE THE ART MUAH love it. ty for the food! <3
Anonymous asked:
wait do the boys also spoil their tops... oKA y im done im donne lmao im sorry ! stay hydrated have a wonderful day/night
Thank you, Anon! <3 Iā€™m happy you love them, both the ones we posted a couple of days ago and the girlies! Rook in lingerie is indeed a treat and a special rare occasion for Vil onlyā€¦
As for Rook not liking to be touched, (ignoring my bias that Iā€™m going to address in a minute) itā€™s more of a Rook thing: she prefers to do ā€œthe huntingā€ and pinning someone down completely is like her instinct. If asked though, she would just say that it would get her too aroused and her heart wouldnā€™t be able to handle it. Maybe there is some truth to that statement, butā€¦ Vil is absolutely allowed to touch her much more than anyone else would, and she mostly does it when she wants to see Rook worked up and agitated. Vil says that itā€™s like teasing a feral dog that likes the pets but also doesnā€™t.
As for the rest of the ladies, I kind of talked about this here in the last reply. We are biased towards bottom!girlies receiving all the attention, and this for sure affects how we see top!girliesā€™ preferences lol But I think not all of them are as much of touch-me-nots as Rook: Rook isnā€™t even the worst one out of them. Azul is one of the biggest ones; she hates being touched unless she is the one demanding that, and sometimes it gets ridiculous with her. But Ace, Jack or Kalim are not as bad, and Floyd flip-flops as usual. But none of them would let the bottom!girls take the lead completely.
So yeah, while technically all the bottom!girlies could still pleasure their tops, this just isnā€™t the dynamic we usually gravitate towards, like I explained in the linked post. It all depends on context, I guess. I think they would do a different kind of spoiling, like teasing, dressing up a certain way, allowing something that wasnā€™t previously allowed, all that stuff.
With the boys itā€™s easier though! I can see pretty much all of the bottoms being willing to give their tops a blowjob or a handjob depending on a situation, some are more willing than others though~
The ones that are the most likely to do it are Vil (big fan of rewarding with a bj), Silver (he is such a good boy), Epel (he is eager to please and to prove himself!!) and Deuce (he acts first and thinks after, and sometimes it puts him on his knees because he feels too much love towards his top and wants to express it).

mayhaps you bless us with post island jack headcannanons? (this is @poormisguideddemiboy btw)
YES YES YES YES OMG I WAS BORN FOR THISSSS
jack gets glasses after the island because as it turns out, his eyes are pretty fucked up
he integrates back into society pretty well! he turns back to christianity due to his guilt
speaking of guilt, it eats him alive. he doesnā€™t eat or sleep or anything for like the first few weeks of being home
he actively goes out of his way to be at church as often as possible. he also avoids roger
he has medical procedures done on him in order to ā€œnormaliseā€ him such as shock therapy
he cuts his hair all the time. it never reaches longer than the nape of his neck
he also hears voices a lot of the time! he has pretty awful auditory hallucinations
jack develops insomnia after the island. he never sleeps because of lucid dreams
his father is probably the worst perpetrator on him. he attends reform school and is hardly allowed to be seen outside anymore
he loses the last name merridew! he legally changes his name to ā€œjohnā€ as well, because it was his name by birth. he changes his surname to martin to distance himself from merridew
heā€™s locked in his room exclusively. he leaves for school and church
and heā€™s studying to be a pastor!
he sustains a few scars from the island, especially across his knuckles, and will hide them with gloves or scarves or makeup if necessary

Hello, do you know of any good Dean x reader x Sam love triangles filled with a lot of angst and just keeps breaking your heart šŸ˜…
Thank you!
Well, a quick look at my Dean x reader x Sam tag brings up some promising fics! I'll list a couple here, and you can peruse the rest at your leisure. (Why are so many of these A/B?O)
Tattered by @stusbunker - A/B/O, kinda canon-compliant, FULL OF ANGST but with a happy ending!
Her Saviors by @bamby0304 - A/B/O, canon-compliant, FULL OF ANGST, and still in process. Kind of a series rewrite fic.
The Best Laid Plans by @crashdevlin - I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for. A/B/O, kinda canon-compliant, OMG SO MUCH ANGST, and also includes a de-aged John! In this one, Dean and Sam don't share the reader like in the others, and there are a lot of triggering scenes (dubcon and noncon) involving our main characters. This one isn't listed under my Dean x Reader x Sam tag since they never share her.
Looking at my own masterlist because I love having both brothers and not having to choose:
Cracker Jack Prize - My first-ever piece of fiction. I gave her a name, but she's really just a reader insert. So Mary Sue. Everyone loves her. She's got powers. It's formatted stupidly on AO3. Someday I might try and fix that.
Third Wheel - I challenged myself to write the smuttiest smut I could write and this was what happened. Reader grew up with the Campbells, starts off with Soulless Sam, adds Dean later, there's some angst when Sam gets his soul back, but there's a happy ending. Cuz I'm a sucker for a happy ending.
I'd Be Better - I saw a gifset and it gave me angsty feels.
Leave Unsaid Unspoken - This has Jo instead of a reader character, but HOLY ANGST, BATMAN. Trigger warning in tags.
Maybe somebody else has more recs?

I'm writing a fic series about Atlantis nepo babies too! :D (John had kids before getting involved with stargate and they're smart little shits so they get involved with the program as they grow up, much to his dismay)
Omg I love this!!! Thatā€™s actually so cool and Iā€™d be interested in reading it for sure!! I like the idea of kids growing up on Atlantis and getting involved like that.
Mine follows Jackā€™s (grown) niece and nephew and the two security guards who were hired last minute to deal with theft and scientist brawls. Jackā€™s niece and nephew are there for tech support essentially and have an empire based on selling pirated digital media and trading with local populations for booze and trinkets. Aside from that, it follows all the lower ranks, non-main characters like Chuck (the Canadian guy in the gate room) where itā€™s like yeah great Sheppard is doing that stuff, but what is Botanist #3 up to? Itā€™s because of that that Iā€™ve named the fic Atlantis: Lower Decks.

Hello! Do you honestly think Disney will have an official prince lineup, if yes who you think would be included in the lineup?
Hewo! :D
At this point I don't think Disney will have an official prince lineup, but I still think it would be AWESOME if they did!!! I reaaaaallllly hope that they will even tho it most likely won't happen.
Like how awesome would it be to have the Disney princes hanging out like the princesses do lol Imagine them all hanging out and playing Xbox and having a good time I NEED TO SEE THIS HAPPEN AND I NEED TO SEE THEM ALL BE FRIENDS WITH EACH OTHER AND HANG OUT I NEED IT
Included in the actual lineup would probably be: Florian Prince Charming/Kit/Henri/Henry (Cinderella's prince has a lot of names apparently lol) Philip Eric Adam/The Beast Aladdin John Smith Li Shang Naveen Eugene Fitzherbert
Those are the princes of all the official princesses in the Disney Princess lineup. Frozen is its own franchise and Elsa and Anna are not official Disney princesses, but I think it'd be awesome if Kristoff was a Disney prince!
It'd be awesome if Hercules, Phoebus, Robin Hood, Tarzan, and Quasimodo (among some other Disney guys) were in the lineup too! I was about to say Jack Skellington too but he's a king already lol
If Disney actually had the Disney prince lineup, I think it would generally just be the princes that are with the princesses in the Disney Princess franchise.
Seriously we need the Disney Prince lineup to be a thing and we need to see them hang out (I need to see the convo between Charming and Eric about Max stealing his shoe in the Once Upon a Studio short)
We need fanfics of this omg

i've had this in my mind for a while now, slightly based around the song a punch up at a wedding by radiohead. angst galore, btw.
essentially schlatt crashes the reader's wedding. they are long exes and reader is getting married to their partner. schlatt still has some feelings for reader and is surprised to get an invite.
he was invited in a sort of "let's let bygones be bygones" way (and partly bc reader hasn't spoke to him since the breakup and wanted him to know they were getting married)
he originally decides not to go because he got the message that nothing will ever happen with you again and he wants to be happy for you and not screw anything up.
but as the date gets closer, he gets more depressed because there is a lot that he wished he'd said to you. and the night of the wedding, he decides, fuck it, i'm gonna crash their damn wedding. who gives a shit.
a few shots of jack daniels in him, he arrives at the venue, pushes past anyone who gets in his way and enters the banquet hall right as you're about to cut the wedding cake.
he's sarcastically and drunkenly shouting at everyone, particularly at you. ranting about how it should have been him at that altar with you, him cutting the wedding cake with you.
you're absolutely mortified seeing schlatt like this,
"you really came here just to piss on our parade?" your now-spouse asks, shoving schlatt.
"oh i pissed on yer parade?" schlatt mocks, pushing your spouse back. "too bad, motherfucker." and it just turns into a brawl.
you're screaming at both schlatt and your spouse to stop. eventually one of your parents pulled the two off of each other.
"did you come here just to start a fight? really, john?"
his heart broke at the way you said his name. there were tears of frustration and sadness in your eyes. as the alcohol cleared, so did his mind. he now realized the severity of what he'd done.
he ruined your wedding, the one day of your life you would remember for years to come. a magical day, and it was completely ruined. and it was all his fault.
he tries to apologize as security drags him out of the venue, but you had no interest in hearing him out.
to think you wanted to forgive him for everything, but he'd just demonstrated that nothing had changed. he was still that same asshole you dumped long ago.
all he could have done was apologize to you. but he couldn't even do that.

Tell me more facts about John Laurens please. You have to put up with my long ass posts about autistic ghost summoners from Jupiter so you can tell me as much as you like about Your Special Guy
!!!!!! okay sooooo
john laurens was blond. that is so important to remember cause he, like all blond men, dies a hamster death
he didn't like his dad at all omg. henry laurens was one of the biggest plantation and therefore slave owners in south carolina and laurens was a slavery abolitionist so of course he hated his guts. plus his father was always like "omg master jack could have the prettiest girl placed in front of him and he wouldn't even look her way" and john liked men sooooo. also it is said that his father might have known that he was gay and tried to erase all evidence of that by burning his letters between hamiton so that's why we have few to no letters from laurens to hamilton to look at
also nearly everyone called him jack!!!
he was a super cunt and it was such a shock when he let anyone into his inner circle cause he was such a cunttttt omg but he was very loyal and intimate with the people he did allow into his life and that's why the hamilton letters are so huge as well
did u know that he once insulted king louis to his face and he still got a loan from france and military supplies? coolest guy ever
he also drew a lot!! he loved drawing birds and he was actually really good at it
he was actually the most aggressive out of the combo of him and hamilton which is so surprising. when he dueled lee and injured him, he wanted to keep going and hamilton and lee's second had to convince them out of it before they killed each other
he called hamilton "my dear boy".......he never referred to anyone else this way
he had an ex called francis kinloch who sucked so bad cause he was a royalist and he laughed at john's ideas against slavery so john broke it off right then and there in the most passive-aggressive letter I've ever seen (he didn't address him by his name at the beginning of the letter, roasted him to death, and then closed it off with a simple "adieu")
close to this time, he got a woman named martha manning pregnant and married her to preserve her honor. his daughter was named frances which is weird considering his ex was francis so like.....who calls their kid by their ex's name jfc???
alexander allegedly found out about john's wife and daughter after reading a letter addressed to him and this was a year and a half after knowing him. oops?
HE FUCKED THAT GINGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he was also held hostage by the british during alexander's wedding and alexander invited him for a threesome with eliza. btw
if you don't believe my last statement, he said "I wish you were at liberty toĀ transgressĀ the bounds of Pensylvania. I would invite you after the fall to Albany to be witness to theĀ final consummation. My Mistress is a good girl, and already loves you because I have told her you are a clever fellow and my friend; but mind, she loves youĀ a lā€™americaineĀ notĀ a la franƧoise" WHAT DO YOU MEAAAAAAN
hmm idk what else i can share but did u know that he was so fucking depressed like he was really depressed

Hey idk if you have ever done this but for your aus what would they have has their partnerā€™s contact in their phone? Like would Jackā€™s for Lovie just be Lovie? Would Lukeā€™s for Dolly be Dolly? What would the girls have for their men? Sorry again if you have talked about this before
omg iā€™ve never thought about this before!
i imagine Jackā€™s for Lovie would be pretty simple and just be ā€œlovie šŸ¤ā€ or something but he would have a wedding photo as her contact picture. and i feel like Lovieā€™s for Jack would be something like ā€œjacky šŸ¤ā€ or ā€œelā€™s favorite person šŸ¤ā€ with a picture of he and el as the contact photo! i think they would be pretty simple with their stuff.
i feel like Lukeā€™s for Dolly would be something like ā€œhaunted dolly šŸ§øā€ with a photo of her from halloween dressed as Annabelle. i feel like he wouldā€™ve never changed her contact name after they started dating, so itā€™s the same as when she was just his best friend. and i think hers for him would be ā€œmoosey šŸ«Žā¤ļøā€ simple, nickname, probably the same as before they were dating and once he became her bf, she just added a heart. and her contact photo for him would be a picture of his head laying on her stomach with her hand in his hair.
Johnā€™s for Shortcake would be very simple: ā€œshortcake <3ā€ but he chose to do that heart because itā€™s the same kind of heart she uses over texts rather than emojiā€™s, so he likes it better. and his contact photo for her would be a photo that Dawson actually took of her laughing at something John said but it was taken before they got together. and Shortcakeā€™s for John would start out as ā€œmaraschino cherry šŸ’ šŸš«ā€ before they were dating. but once they start dating, it switches to ā€œjohnny šŸ’šŸ¤ā€ and the contact photo is a picture Dawson took of she and John on the couch together the morning after they got together.

I just finished watching LOST and here are my thoughtsā€¦ (spoilers obv)
The finale actually wasnā€™t difficult to understand at all? Idk why this show is known for having a confusing finale bc I understood it completely? And when I looked up a Reddit explanation, I was like yeah I got all that. It was good. I liked it. Basically Jack dies how they show it, and some die before him (Sayid, Sun, Jin, Locke and more) and some die after him (the ones who escaped the island in the end die later in life when theyā€™re supposed to) and then they all meet in the afterlife. It was cute. I got it. Itā€™s fine. Poor Hurley had to be the caretaker of the island though. Likeā€¦ I hate that he got no choice and he just HAS to do it lmao. But oh well.
Of course, a LOT of plots were just kinda dropped?? Like Libbyā€™s whole backstory, the lore about the Others including why they kidnapped children, their brainwashing experiments like what they were doing to Karl, Benā€™s obsession with Juliet, Benā€™s obsession with that girl from his childhood, the time travel stuff ā€” I know they still did time travel but they did seem to drop a lot of stuff that they were hyping up a lot at first. I understand there was a writerā€™s strike in 2007 but like stillā€¦ I can understand why a lot of people were dissatisfied with the finale as a lot of questions that the show raised were left unanswered.
I was like super confused and sad that they sidelined the main eye candy of the show aka Desmond Hume so much after his amazing time travel episode bc I thought he would be so much more important as a character after it was consolidated that he could time travel??? But once I finished the show and googled itā€¦ turns out the actor has SA allegations against him which is prob why they sidelined his character and he was missing for so long. Which is likeā€¦ wtf. Why are men like this. WHY CANā€™T THEY JUST LIKEā€¦ NOT SA PEOPLE??? Desmond is like my fav character in the show too šŸ„²šŸ„²šŸ„²
Also with the whole Jacob/man in black origins storylineā€¦ I cannot be the only one who actually understood where the man in black was coming from??? I mean the poor guy got kidnapped as a child and his mother murdered by some crazy woman who then raised him and kept him prisoner on this crazy island and gaslit him into believing nothing else existed beyond that?? IF I WAS HIM I WOULD WANT TO LEAVE TOO??? Jacob himself was so meh, his twin brother was much more compelling and relatable and weā€™re supposed to hate him and not root for him??? WHY? Also why was his name never revealed???
Also Jacob was so LAME like weā€™ve been building up to this dude for seasons and then he justā€¦ dies??? Likeā€¦ okay??? I also donā€™t understand how the twin (man in black) wasnā€™t even a bad guy and then he gets pushed into the light by Jacob and suddenly becomes black smoke monster and now weā€™re meant to hate him and all this man wants is to leave the island??? Why would I hate him??? Jacob literally holding him hostage fr. When it was showing the flashback of their childhood, I kept waiting for a twist which showed that the boy wearing white was evil and the boy in black was good but nopeā€¦ it was exactly how they showed it.
I really liked Richard Alpertā€™s backstory episode, bc he was someone I was wondering about for ages like for seasons and seasons Iā€™d be like ā€œomg this dude does NOT ageā€ but I really liked his backstory and found it so satisfying! I really kinda wanted to see what happened with him later on in life like this dude FINALLY escaped the island after a gazillion yearsā€¦ how is he gonna adapt to modern times now??? We literally never saw him or the pilot Frank again after they flew off the island??? Why were they not in the afterlife scene at the end? (Or were they and I just missed it?) also side note but Richardā€™s eyelashes are INSANE. Like was this man wearing kohl or were his lashes (top and bottom) soooo damn thick that it was distracting??
I HATEDDDD the fact that they killed off John Locke! Like he was one of my fav characters. He was so intense and compelling and the actor was incredible! I hated that they killed him off, like he lived such a sad life and then itā€™s like he died for nothing. And when I say killed him off I mean in season 5 when Ben killed the real John Locke. It was shocking af.
Speaking of Ben Linus, he was such a pleasure to watch bc that actor is just INCREDIBLE. Best actor on the show in my opinion. Him, John Locke and Desmond Hume were the best actors on the show in my opinion. Ben was just so fun to watch, his whole ā€œno feelingsā€ thing and the way he delivered his lines was just so great. I also loved benā€™s backstory and all the stuff with his dad and the dharma initiative. I did want to know more on the whole ā€œno feelingsā€ thing though, bc when the others said theyā€™d ā€œfixā€ Ben when he was shot by Sayid, they said he wouldnā€™t be the same again and would lack feelings. Then the same thing happens to Sayid and he loses his feelings too (but then he kinda regains them bc he sacrifices himself with the bomb??? ) idk but an expansion on that wouldā€™ve been great.
Okay now onto the couples. I didnā€™t care much for the love triangle with Jack/Kate/Sawyer although I did prefer Kate with Sawyer at first only because they had really great chemistry. Although I think sawyer loved Kate but Kate didnā€™t love sawyer. She kinda used him a lot at the beginning and sawyer knew it. I really loved Sawyer with Juliet though!!! I thought they were so sweet. I didnā€™t care about Jack/Kate but good for them they sort of ended up together before Jack died lol. I also loved Jin/Sun, they were sooooo cute together!!
I LOVED Desmond and Penny!!! They were so so cute and their chemistry was off the charts! I love Pennyā€™s accent, Iā€™m from England too but I barely hear that accent anywhere anymore. Like itā€™s so posh! But yeah I actually tore up a bit when Desmond and Penny reunited at the end of season 4! And they had little baby Charlie and it was so cute and justā€¦ AHHHH loved them!!!
I didnā€™t care about Charlie and Claire or Hugo and Libby. I think I wouldā€™ve liked Hugo and Libby but it was left so incomplete and such a wasted potential. I also didnā€™t care about Daniel/Redhead girl whose name I donā€™t remember. No wait it was Charlotte I just remembered lol.
A couple I was really confused about and really disliked was Sayid and Shannon??? Like they were so random??? Bc letā€™s look at this logicallyā€¦ why would an Iraqi republican guard torturer who has been through so much be interested in a vapid and shallow twenty year old girl?? Like WHAT could they possibly talk about??? Their romance was so random I mean they bonded over the fact she could read frenchā€¦ it was so unrealistic like I cannot even begin to explain how dumb this was. And I donā€™t hate Shannon at all! Itā€™s just that most 20 year old spoilt rich girls are usually some form of shallowā€¦ HOW DID THEY RELATE TO EACH OTHER??? Sayid loved Nadia, his whole purpose was Nadia so why WHY WHY in the afterlife did he reconnect with Shannon??? Like,.. what?!? This was so random to me and I just donā€™t get it. Also Iā€™m really not trying to hate on Shannon. I feel like she couldā€™ve been so compelling bc her backstory about her dad dying and her stepmom keeping all his money, it was all interesting but then they killed her off before her character could mature and have her arc??? Confusing af bc why botherā€¦
Now about some popular characters I didnā€™t like. So I didnā€™t like Charlie and honestly didnā€™t care when he died. He would always get so weirdly jealous when anyone else spoke to Claire and he was just way too much sometimes like bro chillā€¦ you are not Aaronā€™s father. Also side note but the pronunciation of Aaronā€™s name by the English/australian/non American characters was weird bc why were they pronouncing his name like ā€œErinā€ in the American way??? Just a small detail I found weird and annoying lol.
I also didnā€™t love Kateā€¦ she was just so bland at times like I believe her writing was really bad?? Was it just me?? Itā€™s like the writers didnā€™t know how to write her well?? The male characters all got such distinct personalities but Kate was so blah? And for a main character being that blah is justā€¦ idkā€¦ itā€™s like any time the writers tried to write a female character in a leader position, theyā€™d just make her come across annoying or boringā€¦ THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO WRITE WOMEN!!! Also she flip flopped sooo much like girl why are you using Sawyer so unashamedly??? Like this woman had NO shame lmfaooo I also hated how she raised Aaron like idk it pissed me off like thatā€™s not your baby!!! But I understood why she had to do it.
Onto what my fav seasons were. I LOVED the vibe of season one. Iā€™m guessing it was quite groundbreaking for its time bc there was nothing else on TV like it. I also loved how fast paced season 4 was. 5-6 were great too! I didnā€™t love 2-3 that much, especially 3 but it did pick up towards the end. 4 was flawless though and ā€œthe constantā€ is one of the best episodes ever!!!
I wanna keep going and talk about all the characters but Iā€™ll have to save it for a different post.. one more important thing Iā€™ll talk about is MICHAEL. The show did him so dirty bc the moment he shot anna Lucia and libby, he was no longer part of the group. Likeā€¦ I knew theyā€™d NEVER let him back in, I knew he was unforgivable at that point which sucks bc I really liked his character??! And itā€™s so confusing what happened to himā€¦ they all met in the afterlife at the end but heā€™s stuck in purgatory??? SO THEN WHAT??? Also it was so unclear how he died? I mean yes the boat exploded but I never thought Michael actually died bc remember he just couldnā€™t die??? He tried to unalive himself before and couldnā€™t?? Like it just wouldnā€™t happen? SO THEN WHY AND HOW DID HE DIE??? It just seems unfair that he was an OG and he didnā€™t get to end the show with them. Same with Waltā€¦ he wasnā€™t there either. Nor was Vincent!
Anyways, overall great show. Clearly since Iā€™ve got so much to say about it. Do tell me what you guys think!!! I wanna discuss it but I have no one to discuss it with!!!

Her name being Augustine and everyone calls her Auggie.
I love that!
I just picture her being such a shy (we need someone hiding behind their parents every now and then) but giggly baby when people get to know her.
omg we should give harper and nico a baby boy (or we get another devs au up) so Auggie can have a boyfriend! john would have wished that jack killed him.
