In Boom, the Doctor recites a poem about the moon and the President's wife. This is intriguing, considering that Missy told Clara that she had cared about the Doctor "since the night he stole the moon and the President's wife" in The Magician's Apprentice. However, in Hell Bent, the Doctor claimed that that story had been a lie. Instead, it had been the President's daughter and that he had lost the moon.
Later on, in Rogue, we saw an image of the Shalka Doctor among the Doctor’s other faces. This is relevant because the Shalka Doctor had fallen in love with the President's daughter while he was on Gallifrey, but she had been killed by an alien race. The Master had aided the Doctor in repelling this alien race but had lost his physical body in the process, leading to the Doctor building him an android body. As a result of the President's daughter's death, the Doctor and the Master were sent on dangerous missions by the Time Lords that retreated into the Matrix. The transfer of the Master's consciousness into an android body ties into The Time of the Doctor, when the Doctor mentioned that he had had an android boyfriend. In this essay, I-

I'm a bit late to the party with this particular epiphany but you know what's really fucked up? The Timeless Child reveal retroactively means that the Time Lords weren't moved by sentiment to save the Doctor on Trenzalore, - the Doctor was gonna regenerate anyway - they sent that sparkly, sparkly regeneration energy to cover their tracks.

rating all NuWho finales based entirely on how cool the titles are
because yea
(putting a read more because this will take a while, lol)
Bad Wolf / The Parting of the Ways
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5/10. Bad Wolf is a cool name! For cool ppl! It’s the season’s mystery! It slays! But The Parting of the Ways? That could be used for like, half of the finales in this show. That’s a generic name. Not a fan. It even has one more “the” than it ought to. That’s a tryhard name. (Rose and The Doc don’t even part ways for another season! It’s a LIE!)
Army of Ghosts / Doomsday
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6/10. Army of Ghosts! That’s freaky! It catches my attention! I’m interested, Mr. Davies, tell me more about that! Doomsday is also a generic name though. Like it could be used anywhere. It gets more points than S1 however because Doomsday is a very cool word and I like it a lot.
Utopia / The Sound of Drums / Last of the Time Lords
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
8/10. YES. I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THESE TITLES. Utopia? That’s a word that can’t be applied to many other episodes! That’s a memorable word! That’s a fun word! The Sound of Drums? What the hell is so significant about drums?? In a FINALE episode?! There must be something SCANDALOUS about the drums, tell me everything! (And they did! But this isn’t about what happens in the episode this is just how hard the titles fuck.) Last of the Time Lords??? Holy shit! That means we’re delving into that aspect of him specifically, and you can’t duplicate that easily! But more importantly, that sounds cool! Cool names, absolutely W from whoever named RTD’s stuff.
The Stolen Earth / Journey’s End
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5.5/10. Same boat as S1, tbh. The Stolen Earth? Excellent, no notes. Journey’s End sounds generic af though. But I gave it a half point lead because Journey’s End has the Vibes more than The Parting of the Ways, lol.
The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8/10. Yea I see the vision Mr. Moffat, I see you. Love what you’ve done with the place btw. Like, neither title is generic! And both are super interesting! Look honestly I forget how to do commentary I’m just one sleep deprived fan who likes Vibes they just slap OK
The Wedding of River Song
Tumblr media
9/10. Oh. Oh yes. Oh I am LOVING this. Nothing gets me going like seeing a wedding that is somehow the culmination of a high stakes season. Like, how is there a wedding there?! And. River Song is there? Do you promise? 🥺
The Name of the Doctor / The Day of the Doctor / The Time of the Doctor
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
6/10. OK I’m honestly not sure which ones are finales or not, but y’know what? The name matching is fun. I like that. That is good. But besides the first one, these are p generic episode names. Sorry.
Dark Water / Death in Heaven
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8/10. Dark Water is a p good episode name. It’s not the most interesting, but I like it. BUT ***DEATH IN HEAVEN***?! Now THAT is a finale title! I have never SEEN such a title! THAT is an IMMACULATE title! SPLENDID!
Heaven Sent / Hell Bent
Tumblr media Tumblr media
10/10. The matching names? The rhyming? The low-key religious theming? The ominous nature? EXCELLENT. No notes Mr. Moffat. Great vibes.
World Enough and Time / The Doctor Falls
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9/10. I would give this striaght up 10/10 if I could figure out what “World Enough and Time” meant. The vibes are perfect but like. What does it mean 😭 And The Doctor Falls??? OH MY ATTENTION HAS BEEN GRABBED BY THE THROAT DO GO ON PLS—
The Battle of Ranskoor av Kolos
Tumblr media
4/10. Kolos? What is this, Pokémon XY? Anyways, I feel like this is just dialogue that would be said in passing in a sci-fi novel that everyone forgets. Sorry 😞
Ascension of the Cybermen / The Timeless Children
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7/10. Cybermen are OK. It’s a fine title, I have nothing against it. The Timeless Children??? The vibes are just SPLENDID here. Especially because it’s a Bad Wolf situation where it’s like “hey wait a fucking minute I’ve heard that somewhere else—” Good stuff! W for Chris.
Chapter Six: The Vanquishers
Tumblr media
6.5/10. Adding chapter to the title does make it automatically cooler, so that’s a bonus half point right there. Otherwise, it’s neat. Like it’s good. The vibes are fine and I like them, but not THAT fine, y’know?
The Legend of Ruby Sunday / Empire of Death
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7/10. Look, even if it’s not generic, anything with “death” in the title *feels* generic. The Legend of Ruby Sunday still saves this tho, because I am INTERESTED, girl. TELL ME EVERYTHING
In conclusion, episode titles peaked with Capaldi.

This post has probably already been made but the way the eleventh doctor is called the “one who forgot” in day of the doctor, and then right when he’s about to regenerate (300 yrs later) he makes a whole speech about always remembering the other versions of himself and swearing to never forget this life… He never wants to be the one who forgets again, he remembered that moment from years and years ago and now. “I will not forget one line of this. not one day.” He remembers how guilty he felt forgetting the number of children on Gallifrey that day, and he never wants to feel that again. “and that’s okay you gotta keep moving so long as you remember all the people you used to be.” That’s the doctor. not the one who forgets but the one who remembers. “I will always remember when the doctor was me.”

Everyone focusing so hard on all the inconsistencies and unanswered questions about Ruby and Mrs. Flood that I've yet to see a single person properly lay out exactly why the who Sutekh thing is so... just... wrong? Like sure I've seen plenty of Day of The Doctor, The Doctor's Wife and Jack and Clara discussion but there's more then just that, I think.
Whole rant below, feel free to add ur own takes to it:
I mean, just imagine all the strange situations the Tardis has been put in before;
- Growing in size in The Name of The Doctor. Why did Sutekh decide to enact his plan right now and not, say, after the doctor was burried in Trenzalore?
- Why didn't Sutekh do anything when The Master had the Tardis and turned it in to the paradox machine? Two powerful villains joining forces to bring death to the universe mayhaps???
- Multiple Tardises (Tardi?) In one place on multiple occasions, being abandoned and/or lost on multiple occasions. How did Sutekh know that the doctor would come back for it? Why didn't he just bring the dust of death without the doctor present to inevitably save the day? (In 73 Yards and Heven Sent especially-)
- The Tardis being given a woman's body while it's shell is controlled by an evil planet- how come she didn't mention it in The Doctor's Wife? Why didn't House make any comments about it in the exact same episode?
- In Utopia, the Tardis tries to shake Jack off but why not the giant death god? In The Time of The Doctor, Clara clinging to the outside slows the Tardis down for literal decades on The Doctor's end! So does this mean the Tardis will somehow travel faster??? How would they even implement that?
- And I've yet to see anyone mention that the Tardis that we're currently with is a DUPLICATE made by the Toymaker's hammer! Did Sutekh decide to hop from one Tardis to another?? Did he get duplicated too? I saw a theory a while back that the duplication is what summoned Sutekh to begin with before all the finale stuff happened but I've seen nothing since.
- Also, The Doctor managed to pick up on there being multiple Claras after only two encounters- he even managed to make that connection based on her voice alone so why did it take him so long to recognise all the Susan Triads?!
And what's annoying is that none of this will ever be explained cuz Sutekh is (allegedly) dead now so it just doesn't matter anymore!
I know the real answer is that nobody thought it'd go this way until a couple years ago when it was first written so no hints could be placed until the 60th specials (with the first Susan Triad appearance) but doesn't think knowledge fundamentally change the way we view the Tardis in every single episode after Pyramids of Mars in a way that's just... a little bit unsatisfying?

Do you think Sutekh had his own Wilderness Years writing increasingly oddball and insane books during the 600 years the Eighth Doctor was on Orbis, the 700 years the Eleventh Doctor was on Trenzalore, etc etc....

You've been asking a question and it is time someone told you, you've been getting it wrong. His name, his name is The Doctor. All the name he needs. Everything you need to know about him and if you love him... and you should, help him. Help him.

Parts of New Dr. Who that are funnier looking back with the Timeless Child in mind:
(spoilers ahead!)
11's regeneration cycle being renewed. This opens the door for one of a few different options: a. 11 was going to regenerate anyways, because they are TTC. Rassilon sent some in a panic. b. 11 was about to die and Rassilon was like shit. Well. We Cannot Have That. Rassilon sent some in a panic. c. The original canonical reasoning (Clara said something nice, Rassilon sent some in a panic.) *whether or not this can happen to all TLs or just TTC matters less, though it would be funny to see some TLs from the council lining up like hey........ so remember when you gave The Doctor a new regen cycle?........ either way
The Hybrid. While 12 is threatening everyone with being The Hybrid, Rassilon is once again panicking. a. He thinks The Doctor is NOT The Hybrid, but can't reveal to everyone why he knows that. There have always been rumors that The Doctor is half-human, or half... something, so this all catches fire very quickly. b. He thinks The Doctor IS The Hybrid, but he can't reveal why he thinks that to The Council/other leaders because it'd be a bit awkward at that point. Can't tell people without explaining because people are like "I know his parents????". Truly a conundrum.
lmk if I missed some, I might add more as I think of them
