Just in the nick of time, before the end of International Zine Month 2023, I finished my newest zine—Ransom Notes. All of it was composed and collaged during IZM. It’s twelve pages, 1/2 letter size, with six poems—five collage poems, one blackout poem; two wistful poems, one wistful yet silly, two straight-up silly, and one sexy. I FORGOT TO SHOW OFF THE AWESOME XMAS 2023 GIFTS I GOT (which technically came exactly in time for my bday a few months back - listen mail is slow ok...we were all worried they were at the bottom of the ocean - so I also consider them bday presents XD What great timing honestly lmao).

@cold-creature once again showing off her fine art skills with an amazing paper collage of Izm! I can't even with some of the fiddlyness of the paper cutouts - apparently she had to invest in some tiny ass tweezers for this omg XDD

The entire thought of these tiny bits of paper flying away with an exhale both makes me groan in sympathy but also laugh loudly LMAO.

@justonepurpose and @enbae not only sent me the CUTEST keychains starring my characs in different clothes (winter and Royal!Au respectively) but also a mouse and phone case (which I asked for since APPARENTLY I can't get them in my own damn country) and a mini shortcut keypad (which was a surprise) :D However they won't let me pay them back for anything 😐 So I'm still trying to decide on the best art thing to do to try and at least repay them for the awesomeness |D

This is a long post, please do not be frightened by it! I have the guidelines and prompts up on my blog, but for the ease of mobile users, I am also making them blog posts.

International Zine Month begins July 1st! ✨

RULES FOR SUBMISSIONS

1. Submissions can be the following: Stolen Sharpie Revolution’s IZM prompts, the prompts on this blog, zines made by you, zine reviews, original blog posts and submissions (More info below!)

2. Please use one of these hashtags for ease of finding your submissions, ‘international zine month 2023’, or ’#international zine month’. You are also welcome to ping this blog!

3. I will be accepting late submission until August 31!

4. Nazis, TERFS, fascists fuck off. Bigotry and work promoting discrimination, oppression, or hate speech will not be allowed. This is different from zines with venting or personal prose.

To clarify: A zine about hating your boss or job is fine, a zine about how much you hate women, slur use, or a history revisionist work is unacceptable.

If submissions refer to people IRL, submissions must come pre-censored, whole names must be censored (first or last showing only)

Follow up, I will not be sharing posts that bashes other artists/people. This is an event for showing love to zines and zinesters!

5. NSFW and explicit content is allowed. I will moderate to make sure that proper tags are in use on this blog. I will not be accepting NSFW, lewd or gorey work via submit box or ask box. Please use your discretion with this! Please use appropriate trigger warnings. Please nest anything visually explicit in read more. I know zinesters that uses pixelated nudes in her work! Something like that is fine!

6. Work using AI image generators or tools like ChatGPT will not be shared and you will be blocked.

7. Submissions will be taken in constantly during the month of July, I can say no to anything I want and can take down posts at my discretion. It is very likely that I will schedule reblogs to space things out. I want to prioritize BIPOC zinesters for example.

These are just suggestions BTW!

Text posts: When making your own posts for any of the prompts, please include the prompt somewhere in your post. It is preferable if you emboldened the prompt or question that you are responding to; use the ‘bigger’ or ‘biggest’ text type in the post editor; or use the title feature. This helps with visual hierarchy, and makes it clearer to read! If you are adding a response to a question via reblogging, no need to worry.

Please avoid using special text that is copy and pasted from a ‘special text generator’. Emojis and symbols are okay, try not to use them in excess, especially if it is disrupting a text block.

Image descriptions: It is not a requirement to include alt text in your submissions, however, i am highly encouraging it even if it is a short description. Hayatımız, hayatımızda olmayabileceklerin olma zorunluluğuna inanmışlığımızın sonucu haline geldi...Ekonomi, yetersiz olan kaynaklari en etkili sekilde kullanma, içine sı*çıp batırmama bilimidir.. While I do enjoy bopping along to a lot of tracks on golden, I've been trying to put my finger on what makes me feel so disconnected from it. It's not just that he didn't write it, bc tae didn't write layover and it still felt like him. Even while jungkook likes this style of songs, the album says a lot about him as a vocalist but very little about him as an artist. I finally saw a review that articulated what I was feeling about it: https://www.pannchoa.com/2023/11/theqoo-jungkook-golden-izm-rating.html. Fair warning, it's pretty brutal in places (pls don't hate me for linking a critical review), but I'm linking it bc I thought it made some good points about the album and about hybe's strategy that may have led to it. Essentially what I feel is really lacking is that it doesn't bring you any closer to being able to hear a song and thinking, 'yes, that's a jungkook song.' Instead, 'that's a [insert random male vocalist] song.' Other than being sung well, they don't really feel like him at all. The closest is seven, and I think a lot of that is bc of the personality of the mv. It's vastly different from hearing my time for the first time, bc that is a quintessentially jungkook song.

It seems like jungkook was stuck in a creative rut when golden came to him, and I don't blame him for that or for focusing on growing as a vocalist rather than as an 'artist.' I do a little bit blame hybe for the disingenuousness of pulling together a bunch of songs and recording a whole album in approximately two weeks - in my mind, no matter how earnest jungkook is, which I really believe he is, that process can't really be about the music, it's about creating a product and seeing how far it can go as long as jungkook's face and voice is on it. Again, I believe jungkook when he says that he was in a bit of a rut and took this on as the performance challenge that it was, and I believe he genuinely wanted songs and an opportunity to perform for army, which this album gave him. My affection for him is unwavering despite my critique of golden, but I have a lot of criticism for hybe.

Idk, I have a lot of faith in bts as a group pulling back from whatever strategy encouraged the English trilogy - if they make more English only songs, I don't think they'll be as cookie-cutter top 40 pop as the trilogy was. Slapping bts or its members on top of a&r focus group songs are not what I want for the members and it's frustrating that hybe keeps on learning the wrong lessons

I saw a post about that review on Reddit. I'm sorry that I don't feel like reading the review - not because it's negative but because I'm being lazy - but I would give Golden 3/5 stars.

I mentioned in my own reviews of the album that it's hard to see JK in it. Seven, 3D and Hate You (because it sounds like Falling) probably sound the most Jungkook to me, especially Seven, but, like I also said once, this album is more about him as a singer and a performer than an artist. A lot of the songs sound like they were made for other people and it's a very random selection of songs. Most of them don't highlight Jungkook's best qualities, like his pretty voice and sentimentality, and his runs and harmonies and stuff. He still sounds good, but it's not very Jungkook and it makes me miss him and the feelings his other songs give me. Golden is a bit soulless for its title.

I can't only blame Bang PD and SB because Jungkook is an adult and he wanted to release an album for Army - I think he got excited about that and about just trying out being a pop star. I think the next time he releases an album it will be a lot more personal to him from a songwriting perspective, and maybe over time he'll share some reservations he had about Golden, because it feels like now he's starting to share a different side to the album production.

Bland pop songs keep outselling other ones so what is Hybe even supposed to take away from that tbh? That fans don't want Dynamite when it's BTS's biggest song? A lot of fans don't want another Dynamite but the fandom nearly doubled in size because of it. They know fans complain, but they also know what sells and as long as fans keep buying and consuming the songs, they don't care about the fans they upset...

I think the members aren't going to be interested in releasing songs like Dynamite when they come back, but I have no idea what kind of songs they want to make... I wouldn't be surprised at all by more English songs though.

Jaunajā mācību gadā 563 pašvaldību un 72 privātās izglītības iestādēs 1.-12.klases skolas skolos sēdīsies 220 051 skolēns, no kuriem 21 584 skolēni mācības sāks 1.klasē, liecina Izglītības un zinātnes ministrijas (IZM) apkopotā informācija.  Dati par izglītojamo skaitu gan var tikt precizēti pēc 5.septembra, kad skolas būs ievadījušas informāciju Valsts izglītības informācijas sistēmā (VIIS). 2023./2024.mācību gadā pašvaldību un privātajās izglītības iestādēs strādās 25 986 pedagogi. Vienlaikus no nepieciešamajiem skolotājiem jaunajā mācību gadā trūks vairāk nekā 3%. Augusta nogalē visvairāk aktuālo vakanču bijis pirmsskolā - 722 likmes. Vispārējā izglītībā vakanta ir 661 likme, speciālās izglītības iestādēs - 54 likmes, bet vismazāk vakantu likmju - astoņas - ir profesionālā izglītībā. Teritoriāli visvairāk vakanto likmju ir Rīgā. Pirmsskolā ir vakantas 447 likmes, bet skolā - 309. Tai seko Daugavpils ar attiecīgi vakantām 34 un 32 likmēm, Jelgava ar 23 un 24 likmēm, kā arī Alūksnes novads ar 11 vakantām likmēm pirmsskolā un 39 likmēm skolā. Mācību priekšmetu griezumā visvairāk vakances ir matemātikā - 69. No IZM sniegtās informācijas izriet, ka arī tādos mācību priekšmetos kā angļu valoda, latviešu valoda un literatūra, datorika, sports un veselība, dizains un tehnoloģijas vakanču skaits pārsniedz 20. No 1.septembra jau ceturto gadu pēc kārtas pedagogu saimei pievienosies arī jauns "Mācītspēka" kurss - 89 topošie skolotāji, kuri izturējuši atlasi šī gada pavasarī un strādās skolās paralēli pedagoģijas studijām izvēlētajā augstskolā. Darbu skolās turpinās arī 69 "Mācītspēka" skolotāji, kuri šogad absolvējuši 2.līmeņa profesionālās augstākās izglītības studiju programmu "Skolotājs". No tiem 52 pedagogi vēl profesionāli pilnveidosies kādā no Latvijas Universitātes četrām tālākizglītības programmām - "Klasvadība efektīvai mācību stundai", "Pārmaiņu vadība izglītībā", "Speciālā un iekļaujošā izglītība" vai "Tehnoloģiju bagātināta mācību procesa organizēšana". Atbilstoši valdības apstiprinātajam pedagogu darba samaksas pieauguma grafikam, pedagogiem, izņemot pirmsskolas izglītības pedagogiem, no 1.septembra palielināta zemākā stundas likme līdz 8,50 eiro jeb 1224 eiro mēnesī par slodzi 36 stundas nedēļā, kamēr pirmsskolas izglītības pedagogu zemākā darba algas likme palielināsies par 15,8% jeb līdz 1240 eiro par likmi. Profesionālās vidējās izglītības iestāžu pedagogiem saglabājas noteiktā darba slodze 30 stundas nedēļā jeb 1320 darba stundas gadā, zemākai mēneša darba algas likmei sastādot 1020 eiro. Salīdzinot ar pagājušā gada 1.septembri, Ukrainas bērnu skaits, kas reģistrēti Valsts izglītības informācijas sistēmā, ir pieaudzis par 748 bērniem, augusta nogalē sasniedzot 3434 bērnus. Visvairāk Ukrainas bērnu reģistrēti 1.-9.klašu posmā - 1964 bērni, kas ir par 274 bērniem vairāk nekā pērn. Pirmsskolā reģistrēti 1346 bērni jeb par 459 bērniem vairāk, savukārt 10.-12.klašu posmā - 124 bērni jeb par 15 bērniem vairāk nekā pērn. Nepilngadīgu Ukrainas civiliedzīvotāju izglītības iespējas nodrošina 274 izglītības iestādes un 248 izglītības iestādes. No tām 20 izglītības iestādēs nodrošina izglītības iespējas 42 skolēniem ar speciālajām vajadzībām. Atbilstoši IZM rīcībā esošajai informācijai, uz augusta nogali pirmsskolās reģistrēti 1345 Ukrainas civiliedzīvotāji, vispārējā izglītībā - 2034, sporta skolās - 308, profesionālajā izglītībā - 77, bet augstskolās - 273 Ukrainas civiliedzīvotāji. Tāpat Valsts izglītības informācijas sistēmā reģistrēti 53 pedagogi no Ukrainas. Šogad durvis vērs par septiņām vidusskolām un valsts ģimnāzijām mazāk nekā pērn - ja iepriekšējā mācību gadā bija 238 pašvaldību dibinātas vidusskolas un ģimnāzijas, tad šogad to skaits samazinājies līdz 231 izglītības iestādei. Samazinājies arī sākumskolu skaits - tās šogad ir 36 jeb par divām izglītības iestādēm mazāk nekā pērn. Šogad savas durvis vērs arī 39 speciālās izglītības iestādes, kas ir par trim mazāk nekā pērn. Turpretim pieaudzis pašvaldību dibināto pamatskolu skaits - šogad durvis vērs kopumā 254 izglītības iestādes, kas ir par četrām iestādēm vairāk nekā pērn. Skolu infrastruktūras modernizācijas projekti jaunajā mācību gadā turpināsies Jēkabpilī, Madonā, Talsos un Bauskā, kā arī Rīgas un Kuldīgas profesionālās izglītības iestādēs.
