Happy International Zine Month! have you heard The Copy Scams? It's an all zine themed band! All the songs are about zines! All the people who are making the music also make zines!

For the month of July we are offering the album half off! For $5 you get one 10" vinyl record of Copy Scams - Copy & Destroy, a zine, and a digital download code that also includes our live show from the 2012 Leeds UK zine fest!

What's the music sound like you ask? lo-fi mid-90s pop punk, like something you would have heard on Lookout Records with @alexwrekk of Brainscan Zine and Stolen Sharpie Revolution screaming about trading zines, how to steal photocopies, and the sadness of leaving all your friends after a zine fest.

“I Have No Idea What I’m Doing: Adventures in Academia #1” by Kirsty Fife of Crosswordszines on Etsy! This is an enjoyable read that carefully examines the realities of grad school.

“All Together: A Primer for Connecting to Place & Cultivating Ecological Citizenship” by @emmalucillepercy! This one I’d highly recommend for anyone interested in #solarpunk.

“Space, Yo!” by Miquela Davis @ghostsb4breakfast! This #artzine #minizine features — well, my review for it is coming up, so no spoilers! It’s an adorable illustrated artwork.

Happy International Zine Month! To kick off #IZM2023 I’m responding to the prompt list @zineville posted.

Zines are a form of media. I think this is especially important to remember in a cultural landscape that treats “the media” as a monolith. The New York Times or Fox News have a farther reach, yes, but zines are a way to communicate just as a newspaper or tv show is.

I’ll be checking the #izm2023 hashtag throughout the month and sharing posts on my stories!
