Current Skin Favorites
FACE
CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser
Tumblr media
I absolutely love this cleanser, it cleared up all my acne in a week, fades dark spots super quickly, helps with skin texture and leaves my face feeling clean but not stripped. (The magic ingredient in this cleanser is niacinamide so if you’re sensitive to that, I wouldn’t suggest using it!)
BODY
1. Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Body Butter
Tumblr media
My absolute FAVORITE body butter. Super cheap and affordable. Has the best smell, pairs really well with vanilla fragrances. Lightweight enough to be used in the summer but thick enough to be used in rough winters and keeps skin hydrated (I went to college in a country where winter was often -16°C and below: this was a LIFE SAVER). The only reason I don’t use it anymore is because I can’t find it in my country.
2. Cantu Skin Therapy Hydrating Body Cream (Cocoa Butter)
Tumblr media
Has a nice cinnamon smell and is the perfect body butter texture. Absorbs easily on damp and dry skin. Leaves my skin feeling extra soft, even if I forget to use it some days. Not as good as the Vaseline Body Butter IMO, but a pretty close second.
3. St Ives Energizing Coconut & Coffee Scrub
Tumblr media
This scrub was too harsh for my face but perfect for my body. Has an amazing smell and is also surprisingly good at keeping my feet soft despite not being as rough as other body scrubs.
4. Dove Soap
Tumblr media
It makes me feel clean and doesn’t strip my skin. My favorites scents are the shea butter (with vanilla) and white.
5. Body Oils
Tumblr media
I’ve been really into wearing body oils lately. I love layering them with perfume during the day, but it’s my final step before going to bed at night. It helps me feel more relaxed and I sleep much better. My scent of choice the past few weeks has been Pink Sugar.
6. Pedi In A Bag
Tumblr media
Really good foot peel that works really well, even if you have very calloused feet (though you may have to use it more than once to get the results you want). The peeling process lasted me about a week, but the results were well worth it.
7. Aveeno Moisturizing Foot Mask
Tumblr media
A nice little pick me up for your feet, but not a necessity. I like to do this a week or two after a foot peel to help maintain the results.
MAKEUP
1. MAC Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick
Tumblr media
This is definitely my new favorite foundation. It’s light enough to give a ‘my skin but better’ look but also heavy enough to cover up dark spots with ease. I only put it on my trouble areas. The coverage is buildable (less is more with this if your goal is a natural finish).
You do need to moisturize or prime the skin before use, especially if you have dry skin. You should also set it with your powder of choice.
2. Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder
Tumblr media
This keeps my makeup in place FOREVER. My skin as also very oily and this kept it matte much longer than any other setting powder I had ever used. A little does go quite a long way with this.

Note
yes would love to hear abt ur skincare routine :D!!!
My Current Daily Skincare Routine
Face Cleanser
Innisfree Bija Trouble Facial Foam
Senka Perfect Whip
I use both at the moment (alternating one another), although more frequent to use the Innisfree one.
I use micellar water to clean my makeup. It's just, I'm rarely put make up to go out now, and even if I do, it's just some light makeup that will be gone by just washing your face with foam.
Tumblr media
Toner
Hada Labo Gokyujun Ultimate Moisturizing Lotion
The one I use is for normal to dry skin, they have another version for normal to oily skin as well with lighter consistency
Put this in toner section because apparently what Japanese call lotion is a toner
This is like a (very) hydrating toner, so I often use it as light moisturizer
Tumblr media
Serum
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum
This one is like one of Innisfree best staple product
Tumblr media
Moisturizer
The Face Shop Rice Ceramide Moisturizing Emulsion
Saw this at The Face Shop store. They had 20% off discount. So I bought it. It works on my skin
Tumblr media
Exfoliating
St. Ives Scrub
The Ordinary Peeling Solution
Not a fan of both. Bought them out of curiosity why these are so hyped. Use it more often on my armpit than my face.
They are okay, but don't want to repurchased it in the future
Tumblr media
Sun Protection
Skin Aqua Sunscreens
Have tried all of them. They're equally good. Currently use the UV Mild Milk
Use the tone up when I need some light makeup since it can be used as colour correcting base makeup.
Tumblr media
THIS STUFFS ARE SO GOOD!! I WISH I COULD REPURCHASE IT AGAIN, BUT ALAS I'M BROKE
Mad for Makeup Poreless 3in1 Pore Clarifying Treatment Essence
Bought it because it so pretty, it's pink! Make skin feels smooth. Already place 3 bottles of this in cart but don't have money to check them out.
Tumblr media
Hatomugi Skin Conditioner
The bottle is huge! It'll last you long. This product is like the Hada Labo Lotion. But has more watery consistency. I like to out it on spray bottle and spray it on my face every one hour lol. Or just spray it when you feel like it's so hot outside your face need some water to recharge. Put this in cart, always forgot to check it out.
Tumblr media
Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel
Best exfoliator I've ever try. This dumbass want to repurchased it again. Already place it in shopping cart. End up buy different exfoliator product because my dumb brain says let's try different product you never try before.
Tumblr media
Laneige Fresh Calming Series
Blessing to my skin!! I used to have really bad break out on face and this product saved me. But it's Laneige. It's expensive. I can only afford the mini sized version and used it at night only to so it'll last long. The only product I've repurchased the full version is the serum. I have to save up for months to buy it. But it really is that good!!! So it's worth it!!!

Note
since some people have trouble with skincare here is skincare 101 aka the most longest ask you’ve probably ever had. disclaimer: i have combination skin and acne prone skin.
when you’re beginning your skincare routine start with a cleanser, a moisturizer, and an spf. after you’ve got that down then you can add treatments and actives. adding too much at once or using too many actives can freak your skin out. always wash your hands throughly before you wash your face. i use the fab pore purifying foam cleanser by soap and glory in the morning and the acne defense cleanser by pacifica at night. they’re 12 and 10 dollars on ulta.com. drug store brand like neutrogena, clearasil, and cerave are also good options. for high end brands i like peter thomas roth and paula’s choice. i use the moisture rescues refreshing gel cream by garnier as my moisturizer. it’s about $6 on amazon. the green is for normal to combo skin and the pink for dry skin. contrary to popular belief even if you have oily skin you need a moisturizer. and eye cream is overrated. usually they’re just expensive moisturizers and you get less product in the container, but if you think eye creams help you then go for it.
sunscreen is your best friend! whatever other skincare products and treatments you use will not matter if you don’t protect your skin. i use the neutrogena ultra sheer dry touch spf 100+ since i have super pale skin. i got it off amazon for like $8. i use this everyday. in the summer, winter, rainy days, when i’m not going outside. i don’t want to be looking like a leather couch at 35. you can use spf 50, 70, 45 as long as you’re using spf that’s what matters. skin cancer is a real thing. if i’m not wearing makeup i will reapply the neutrogena sunscreen, but if i am wearing makeup i will use the ulta wannabe active spf 50 setting spray. just remember to close your eyes and hold your breath when you apply.
for treatments i love the brands the inkey list and the ordinary. both are very affordable brands. i recommend the ordinary’s aha/bag peeling solution. it’s a chemical exfoliater that you put on your skin for no more than 10 minutes once a week. it gets rid of dead skin cells and helps with texture. physical exfoliaters like scrubs are ok but it depends on the brand. st ives apricot scrub is a big no no since the beads are uneven and jagged which can cause micro tears in the skin and hurt your skin in the long run. i also recommend the inkey list retinol. retinol is a derivative of vitamin A and helps reduce signs of early aging and acne scars as well as brighten your skin so it doesn’t look dull and sickly.
sheet masks are also a good skincare item to have. i like the ones by tonymoly and miss spa. there are so many types for so many skin concerns. clay masks are really good for oily skin. i recommend the aztec indian healing clay mask which is also good for acne.
unfortunately makeup wipes can do more harm then good. they don’t actually get all of the makeup off and can cause premature wrinkles since you’re tugging and rubbing at the skin with them. removing makeup with micellar water, the original makeup remover cloth, or a second cleaner is a better option. i know it’s hard for many people, myself included, but stop picking at your skin. those blackhead and pimples look so poppable, but realistically your just going to give yourself acne scars. plus, you could spread bacteria from on area of the skin to the other. spot treatments like pimple patches and drying lotions are better options if you don’t want to invest in extraction tools and use them properly.
skincare is really important and we all have to learn sometime. even though i’m only 21 i care a lot about anti aging because looking like a leather couch at 35 is not what i want for my life. i think it’s better to prevent skincare problems than to treat them. youtubers i really like who make videos about this stuff are dr dray, doctorly, and mixed makeup. when you look good, you feel good. when you feel good, you look good. 💞💖
You're incredible 😘😘😘 thanks

My Current Skincare Routine
Tumblr media
I believe in investing in your skin because it's going to represent you for a very long time. As much as I love wearing makeup, I’d still wanna look natural on the outside. But I also want to go out in public and not wear that much makeup. That’s why I'm a big believer that if you focus on your skincare, you really won't need a lot of makeup. Skincare is self-care.
Just a background story of my skin lol.
Tumblr media
This is me back in High School.
Back when I was in high school (the puberty period), I literally have no problem with my skin. I never had any kind of breakout the whole high school life, and for that, I considered myself lucky. I don’t know if it’s in our genes or what, but I think my irregular period explained why I don't break out? I'm not sure hehe.
But when I stepped into college, that’s when I started having cystic acne, just once every month. I noticed my skin reacts in a different environment than I’m used to. Like when I was in college, I was studying in Manila. Manila is known for its air pollution because of traffic congestion. I have also found out that the water in Manila has chlorine, and I feel like my skin gets irritated, and that causes acne or breakout.
Tumblr media
My brother who lives in South Korea sent a lot of skin care products. ca. 2017
I started using skincare products when I was in college, but mostly it's just facial wash, toner, and moisturizer. Then 3 years ago, I started putting serum on my face, a sheet mask or clay mask, and my skin feels so good after. My face feels so hydrated and the product that I used which is Innisfree works for me.
Tumblr media
April 2018
RECENT BREAKOUT STORY (2020)
Ever since this pandemic and lockdown happened, I started breaking out. My skin became super oily, I thought maybe it was just the heat because it was summer then. I update my skincare, and nothing seems to work on me. And then I thought, maybe it was a hormonal imbalance, so I started taking pills for two months, still not working. The worst part of it, my pimples are cystic. Before, whenever I get a pimple it was just once every month. But now, when one pimple heals, there's another one comes, and they're mostly on my T-zones, which is the oiliest part of my face. I was so stressed about it, so I decided to see a Dermatologist at Cutis Essentials. Take note: this is my first time seeing and consulting a Dermatologist.
In order for the Doctor to treat me, she asked me a bunch of questions like, what kind of product do I use, she asked about my skin history and family history, and if I am taking some medicines or vitamins, and so on. And from that, I have learned that too much Vitamin E, B6, and B12 can cause acne. I have never taken any kind of vitamins in my whole adult life because I hate drinking medicines, but since there's a virus spreading all over the world, killing millions of people, I started taking it to boost my immune system. She gave me an oral medicine called Doxycycline and Epiduo Gel that dries up my acne. I stopped taking my pills and multivitamins and just stick to Vitamin C. I also stopped using this cleanser St. Ives Apricot Scrub and switch to a more mild facial cleanser. And hurrah, I finally see a good result. My face started clearing up little by little, and the oiliness lessens a bit. All I need to do is to get rid of my dark spots, which takes time.
The thing with doing your skincare routine, you have to stick with it consistently. And I gotta admit, there are days that I'm so lazy to do it and just skip some steps. Like sometimes I just removed my makeup, washed it, then put some toner to clean the excess dirt, then I'm done. That's my slacky routine. Don't do it hehe.
Tumblr media
I did a one week sheet mask challenge and my skin feels so good after. I definitely recommend this product that I got from BeautyMnl. It’s called Superfood Coconut Salad Mask Package from the brand Farm Skin.  Last pic on the lower right, that’s The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution.
youtube
A video of my skincare routine. Sorry if it’s a bit confusing LOL. I’ll make a better video next time hehe.
MY CURRENT SKINCARE ROUTINE & HOW TO LAYER PRODUCTS:
Tumblr media
I want to be clear, I am not a dermatologist or esthetician, but this method has worked for me. If your skin is irritated, I recommend hitting the reset button and start from scratch. Try introducing new products one at a time and use it consistently for a few days to see if it's working for you. Also, try to learn more about what your skin needs. Like if you have dry skin, moisturizer and hydrate i every day. If you have an oily skin like me, try to lessen the products that’s very greasy, and don’t use it during the day. Just stick with light moisturizer. It is a little bit of a process and takes time, but once you have it figured out, your skincare routine will be on autopilot, and your skin will look better and better.
Here are the products that I am currently using:
Tumblr media
FACIAL CLEANSER
Brand: COSRX
AC Collection Foaming Cleanser
Cosrx is a Korean product. This gentle foam cleanser fights acne. It manages excess oil, without stripping skin of essential moisture. With BHA to exfoliate, lauric acid to provide antibacterial support, and centella ingredients to soothe, this creamy cleanser clears skin while keeping irritation at bay. | I have been using this for 3 months now and the brand works on me. My skin feels so soft after using this.
Tumblr media
TONER
Brand: COSRX
AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
Formulated with AHA, BHA and purifying botanical ingredients, the AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner works to soothe, refresh and soften the skin. It is effective for hydrating evening skin tone and texture, and it’s a mild exfoliation. | This toner for me is very gentle and it doesn’t sting and harsh like the other toner that I used before.
Tumblr media
MOISTURIZER
Brand: COSRX
AC Collection Light Weight Soothing Moisturizer
This cream moisturizer provides light, non-sticky hydration for acne-prone skin. Made with asiatic acid, niacinamide, and zinc salt, it calms and strengthens skin’s moisture barrier while controlling excess oil. | I love this moisturizer! It’s not greasy so it’s okay to use it during the day because it’s fast-absorbing.
Tumblr media

The Ordinary comes from Canada. A high-strength vitamin- and mineral-packed formula to minimize the look of blemishes. Contains a high 10% concentration of niacinamide (vitamin B3); reduces the appearance of spots, marks, and congestion; supported by zinc salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid to balance visible aspects of sebum activity. | I’ve heard a lot of good reviews about this product so I tried it, and the brand works for me. It just really takes time to lighten up my dark spots but it works.
Tumblr media
EXFOLIATION
Brand: THE ORDINARY
AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
A 10-minute liquid mask treatment that exfoliates to visibly improve skin texture and tone. This product goal is to enhance brightness, even out skin, and decongest pores; exfoliates the topmost epidermal surface; helps fight visible blemishes for improved radiance; reduces the look of fine lines with continued use. | Take note: this peeling solution stings for a few sec, but it’s tolerable. Read the instruction first before using this product. When I first used this, I noticed my skin feels like a glass skin, like it looks healthy. I was expecting my face to peel,  but it didn’t. I only use this 2-3x a week or whenever my skin needs it.
Tumblr media
PROTECTION
Brand: THE ORDINARY
Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone
Helps reverse multiple signs of skin aging with vitamin C, an effective antioxidant; naturally brightens and refines tone and texture; feels smooth on the skin thanks to very light silicones despite the suspension format of the formulation. | I just recently purchased this and I think it’s a great add for my skincare routine to reduce all the blemishes on my face and fights skin aging because well, I’m not getting any younger anymore. This one is a bit greasy so I only use this in the evening, and it has an off smell but fades away for a few sec.
Tumblr media
CLAY MASK

Innisfree is a Korean product. Features 2x more powerful adherence to sebum for intensive pore care; provides triple exfoliation from encapsulated Jeju volcanic scoria, walnut shell powder, and AHA; enhanced deep cleansing formula removes away fine dust particles, pore-clogging dirt, and dead skin cells; provides powerful sebum-absorbing capacity as it washes away impurities while moisturizing and brightening skin; leaves a cooling sensation when applied that refreshes pores. | I have been using the 1.0 version of this for 3 years, which is the Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask without 2x. I super love this clay mask because this brighten up my dark spots so fast. I only use this 2-3x a week or whenever my face needs it. I recommend this product.

Skin Genie is a Philippine product. This nourishing clear serum is the answer to fuller brows and lashes. It helps minimize hair loss, prevent breakage, and prime the strands for healthier regrowth. | This product smells so good and I noticed that my lashes became more stronger, longer, and a bit thicker. Epiduo is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of Acne Vulgaris. Epiduo may be used alone or with other medications. Epiduo belongs to a class of drugs called Acne Agents, Topical Combos. | This gel is pricey, and this was prescribed to me by my Dermatologist. I still use this whenever I have acne, and it dries up my acne fast.
Tumblr media

This is the original set of hydrocolloid stickers that comes with three different sizes to spot-correct pimples. It heals intensively overnight, protecting problem areas from infection and brings out deep-rooted blemishes without leaving behind scars. It’s made with A.D.F. hydrocolloid dressing, a unique material that helps extract gunk from stubborn zits and speeds up their life cycle. | I absolutely love this patch. I use this in the evening whenever I have a very bad acne. TIP: I use the Epiduo Gel first, applied it on my acne, and then let it dry first before putting the patch. I promise, the next day your acne heals so fast! But sometimes, if it's cystic, it will take a few try like 2-3 patch every night.
Tumblr media
ACNE PATCH
Brand: LUXE ORGANIX
Hydrocolloid Acne Spot Patch Night Time
When patched to acne; it increasingly absorbs the pus and oil to reduce inflammation and fasten the healing process. This brand is from Korea. | This product works well on me too, plus it contains more patches than Cosrx. Cosrx isn't available in most stores here in Bataan, so I have to order it online. I just go to Watson and buy this, which is very convenient for me.
Tumblr media
CLEANSER
Soft Silicone Facial Cleansing Brush
Gently scrub your face with this along with the Foaming Cleanser, it is easy to use. It is great for getting rid of dirt and clogged up skin. I noticed that after I wash my face with full on makeup, it get rids all the excess makeup and dirt that you have on your face because whenever I apply my toner, you can’t barely see any dirt. You better get one of this. I got mine from Watson, and it is very affordable.
Tumblr media

Make sure that before you use this tool, put it first on the freezer for a few minutes, and it feels so good, I swear! I used the jade roller whenever I put on my sheet mask. Tumblr media

Oil Blotting Films
Contains 50 silky-soft blotting sheets; made with excellent oil-absorbing 3M film; works to absorb excess sebum; leaves skin looking fresh and grease-free. | I read that if you have oily skin and you're wearing makeup, don't put on another layer of powder just to get rid of the oiliness on your face. Instead, use this oil-blotting film to remove all the oil before retouching your makeup. It's a helpful way not to clog your pores and for your makeup not to look cakey.
More skincare products that works on me but I don’t use it anymore:
Tumblr media

Protini’s proprietary formula restores younger, revived-looking skin, almostfrom the first application. Lines, wrinkles, and signs of sun damage appearreduced, and skin feels strengthened and moisturized. | I only have the sample bottle of this because this brand is a little expensive but I heard a lot of good reviews on this. ooooh skin stuff?? what products do you use / what's your routine? im super nosy and fascinated about this stuff lol
oof, sorry this took so long to answer, i ended up writing a whole damn novel… my b. Anyway i buy my skin care pretty much exclusively from yesstyle (minus a few exceptions, but i’m always open to new suggestions! i am gonna take a look at jolse soon) so i’ll just link the products from there. Also i have a little dinky code for like 2-5% off if you wanna save like… $1 it’s 5NAYTT
Disclaimers before i start though, I have normal skin (i know i’m so lucky uwu) so i generally don’t stress about whether my products work better or worse for dry/oily skin—but i do tend to favor more hydrating/moisturizing products. Also i’m no esthetician or dermatologist, most of my knowledge comes from product reviews, skin care videos, and my own personal experiences. So basically take everything I say and share with a grain of salt :))
We’ll start out easy with my morning routine:
1.)  Mostly i start by wetting my face with warm water. you can also wet it in the shower if you’re a morning shower-er(?) but i’m not lol. IF my skin is feeling really dirty in the morning for some reason though (like if i sweat real bad on a summer night or drown in a pool of drool x-x) i’ll start with the Perfect Whip foaming cleanser
i find that most mornings, bc of my more extensive night routine, my face isn’t often in need of a cleanser
but i really like this bc you get SO MUCH use out of so little product; i use less than a dime-size amount per wash. but i do use this little foam maker thingy which builds up a better and faster foam than using my hands—not necessary but very convenient. there’s also foaming nets you can try, but i’m not familiar with them.
i don’t completely dry my face after use; i like it damp when i apply the toner
2.)  Apply Klairs Supple Preparation Toner
i personally use the original version as i don’t mind essential oil scents, and my skin doesn’t react negatively to them. If oils bother you for whatever reason though, you might want to try the unscented version!
i also pour this into a spray bottle (you can pick these up pretty much anywhere but these are cute if you wanna order some) and apply via spray. No reason other than I just don’t want to buy cotton pads :)
3.)  Apply Snail Repairing Essence
i use this pretty much as a moisturizer but you might want to use an additional cream or something if your skin is on the drier side?
4.)  Apply SPF
okay so… i don’t actually have a rec for this bc i just use whatever my mom has.  and i haven’t actually gotten a korean sunscreen yet bc i don’t go outside and i’m that person (who is v dumb) and doesn’t apply spf consistently in the winter -.- but rest assured, i’ll get some eventually lololol
Okay like i said, pretty easy in the morning! I don’t use essences, just bc i’m still young and a lot of them seem to be focused on anti-aging things that aren’t my main concern. And I prefer to use my serum at night bc it’s got vitamin C and i just told you i’m bad at sunscreen
But night time is where it gets complicated fun:
1.)  Hop in the shower (but if you’re not a nighttime shower-er then you can just cleanse out of the shower) and go in with the Clean It Zero cleansing balm (this also has other versions: purifying, revitalizing, and nourishing but i’ve only ever used the original)
i usually do double cleansing at night, so this is my oil-based “first cleanser”
but i have been known to um… “gloss over” this step if i’m being lazy….. -.-
i like oil-based cleansers bc they’re a nice, gentle way to remove makeup (as opposed to wipes and stuff) and i do use this to remove eye makeup as it personally doesn’t irritate my eyes; i also prefer balms over straight up oils bc they’re more fun ^-^
anyway, i massage it on, emulsify, and rinse! also, if you’re not in the shower, i would keep my face damp after rinsing.
2.)  Perfect Whip foaming cleanser while still in the shower
pro-tip, if you have a foam maker, i would make the foam BEFORE you start. that way you can just apply it right after the balm!
again, i keep my face damp after rinsing off the foam and hopping out of the shower
3.)  Klairs Supple Preparation Toner returns!
again, i have mine in a spray bottle so i spray it on and tap it in!
4.)  IF IT’S SUNDAY, then i will go in with the Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel next
this is a chemical exfoliator (i finally ditched my knock-off st. ives XD) and i only use it once a week
5.) IF IT’S SUNDAY, and i have one available, i’ll put on a sheet mask next
sheet masks are… honestly all the same to me lol but i order these innisfree ones all the time; my regulars being green tea, tea tree, and aloe (they’re actually cheaper on their website tho so…).  i also really wanna try the A’PIEU Milk Packs particularly in banana and strawberry, so i’ll probs order and try those out when i can justify spending the money on a whole bunch (knowing me i’ll turn it into a whole $40+ order lol)
i leave these on for 15-20 minutes (usually 20), take it off, and pat the remaining product into my skin
also there’s usually some left over on the other side of the mask and/or in the package that i’ll massage onto my neck and body (we try not to do not waste product in this house!!)
if i’ve done a mask, then i will most likely skip this next step
6.)  Apply Klairs Vitamin C Drop
this is pretty much my daily serum as it helps with improving my dark spots and hyper pigmentation (my main skin concern)
i take 3-5 DROPS in my hand… that’s it, i literally wasted so much before i finally decided to stop dropping it onto my face.
apply and pat that bad boy all over!!
7.)  Snail Repairing Essence  returns!
again this is my probably-not-supposed-to-be-but-idfc moisturizer so i just slap it on!
8.)  Almost done, here’s the Snail Repair Eye Cream
this is actually new, but i bought a smaller tube bc 1. i didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on something that might irritate my eyes. and 2. i didn’t. want. to spend. a bunch. of money. but the little nozzle is actually really helpful for getting a small, good amount of cream actually XD
so i’ll squeeze a little line (more like an oblong dot tho) under each eye and use my ring fingers to glide that up to the lid and pat in the product.
9.)  Last one! Berry Lip Mask
basically…. i even buy korean knock-offs lololol
i just apply this to my bottom lip (my top lip never causes me issues??) and let it sit over night
Anddddd that’s everything! Very nearly got to that 10 step dream but, no essence, no clout i guess. Anyway, i do have some additional pro-tips too:
If you’re buying/trying new skin care products, be patient and introduce them slowly. it’s hard, but this way—if one or more products are causing a reaction—it’s easy to just cut it out of the routine. Also i like to think it gives your skin time to become used to the new ingredients and to “normalize” before piling on new stuff (but that could be total bs lol)
“Listen” to your skin; use products that make YOUR skin feel good, and use products when YOU need them. especially with serums and stuff, invest in products that will help you to address your skin concerns and achieve your skin goals (whatever those may be at the time)—and not someone else’s. Also don’t be afraid to admit if a product’s not working, better to chuck it than ruin your skin you know?
From someone who’s experienced a very unpleasant, burning unibrow :))) don’t remove hair on exfoliation day and avoid putting a lot of product on sensitive areas. Also, doing some sort of cleanse before hair removal helps to reduce the risk of dirt and stuff getting into the exposed skin.
Oh and be gentle with your exfoliators (whether physical or chemical) DON’T SCRUB FOR THE LOVE OF PETE to avoid cuts and burns!
If you have a spot (or feel one coming up) , use some sort of spot treatment. you’re much less likely to pick with something if it’s covered up by a patch (these are my faves) which will reduce irritation and formation of dark spots.
Be as hygienic as possible! There’s no towel drying steps in my routine for two main reasons. 1, i like keeping the moisture and hydration from the water as long as possible. and 2, bacteria. is. everywhere. Towels are pretty gross when you think about it and limiting contact between them and your face will probably greatly improve your skin’s health. Also avoid touching nozzle or dropper applicators directly to your hands or face: that way the applicator won’t come in contact with any bacteria or germs and transfer that gunk onto your face every time you use it. Washing your hands and/or tools that DO touch your face is also important in, again, reducing the spread of random gunk.
Take it slow, relax, and enjoy it! Skin time is my relaxation time (especially sunday nights oml so awesome!!), it’s honestly one of the best parts of my day just being able to kick back and take care of myself. Try not to make it a chore, it isn’t supposed to feel regimented or overwhelming, but relaxing and fun!
Okay that’s really it!! And yeah this got really really long….. sorry if you actually only wanted my yesstyle recs XD

Getting clear skin!
This is my face without any make up or any filters.
I've been taking 2020 to clean my aging skin, so far this had been the products that have been working for me and in no way am I a professional. I will be changing a thing or two from my current skincare routine by either adding or removing something.
Current Skin Care Routine:
Age: 25-30
Skin: Combination
Cleanser:
Dear Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing oil $18
Neogen Green Tea Real Fresh Foam Cleanser $19
Originally I used Muddy Body face wash, and for what it did it was alright. Literally just alright. I started using Dear Klairs and Neogen at the same time. My black heads are nonexistent and my pores are so tiny I've never felt more confident without makeup.
Exfoliator:
St. Ives Apricot scrub $5
I only exfoliate twice a week and I'm currently shopping around for something a little better than the St. Ives scrub. Ever since high school this has been my holy grail face product because it really tamed my oily skin and removed pimples (Salisylic acid) without needing extensive care. Now that I'm getting a bit older I want something that will benefit my aging skin.
Toner:
I'm From Rice toner $28
I love how soft and dewy my skin feels after using this product. I chose this product because I've read that rice is great for hydrating, brightening, controls shine, increases collagen in the skin to help prevent wrinkles.
Serum:
Wishtrend Vitamin C Serum $25
I use Vitamin C twice a day AM&PM and have notices a drastic change using specifically this brand. Originally I used Pacifica baby glow; it had a nice smell but was incredibly tacky on the skin. I used it for a few months before I said enough and switched. Never going back! Since changing my skin has been looking fantastic!
I'm from Ginseng Serum $28
I used only in the AM. Love the way it glides across the skin, but I dislike how tacky it sits on the skin. I love this product and will definitely be using it again!
Moisturizer:
Cerave Daily Moisturizing lotion $10
Will definitely consider switching to a better moisturizer. For what it is as a simple moisturizer its cheap and easy and does the job.
Treatments:
Dear Klairs blue youth activating drop $28
At night only after double cleansing, before toner. Love this product for the peptides 🖤 I was considering using the Mizon Peptides but I saw that the Dear Klairs had a much better rating across the board. This product does not disappoint!
I'm from Ginseng mask $35
Twice a week in the days I don't exfoliate. It feels like honey and leaves my skin feeling amazing! I like to massage it into my skin and leave if on for 15 minutes before I was it off.
Eventually I would like to add an ampoule, essence, sheet masks, eye cream and a good sunscreen. Because my skin is aging, I've specifically have been looking for products and ingredients that will help slow the aging process and prevent wrinkles. Ingredients such as green tea, rice, ginseng, vitamin c peptides are all used to keep skin firm and help prevent wrinkles.

Self-Care Tips from Someone Who Sucks at Self-Care (Part 1)
Part 2
I’m lazy, anxious, forgetful, and generally unmotivated. Basically, I’m the worst person to be making a post on self-care, because I can barely take care of myself. However, I have made it my 2019 goal to start taking better care of myself, even if it’s just relaxing a bit on days when school is bogging me down or following a semi-regular skincare routine. Another goal, which I technically didn’t make until a few days ago, is to journal every other day. My journal tonight happens to be a list of self-care/relaxation ideas, and I thought, “Hey, I know I’m not the only one who struggles with this whole ‘taking care of myself like a proper damn adult’ thing, so why not post a ‘suggestion guide’ of sorts for other clueless individuals?” So, here you go!
Skincare Routine | Keeping a regular skincare routine is the most important step in clearing acne. Of course, there are other issues outside of acne, and keeping a routine will most likely help with those problems as well, but it’s up to you to figure out what your skin needs and how you should approach caring for it. A skincare routine can be simple or complex, and if you ever feel like you need aid in figuring out what you should do, seeing a dermatologist could prove to be very helpful. My personal skincare routine is somewhat lengthy, since I follow the Korean Skincare Routine (Oil cleanser, Water/Foam cleanser, Exfoliate, Toner, Essence, Serum, Face Mask, Eye Cream, Moisturizer) [full routine varies on day and skin needs], but has proven to be effective in my journey toward somewhat balanced and acne-free skin. I have come to accept that my skin will never be perfect, and that’s okay, because everyone has some kind of skin “problem” that may never permanently go away.
Moisturize | Not only should you moisturize your face, but you should also moisturize your body, especially in the winter to battle dry and/or irritated skin. If you have sensitive skin, it would be best to avoid a lotion with added fragrance, but if you are someone who can use all the fancy smelly lotions, get something with one of your favorite scents so that whenever you get a whiff of your skin, you can go, “Mm, delicious flesh smell!” Seriously though, moisturizing your body, whether you shave or not, is good for your skin and you should probably do it. Once you get in the habit of doing it, it doesn’t take long at all.
Brush and Floss Teeth | This one should be obvious, but you’d be surprised at just how many people don’t floss along with their brushing. As someone who totally flosses every single day, I can say that it really is good for your teeth. Flossing helps prevent tartar and plaque buildup, gum disease, and bad breath.  It’s a given that we should brush our teeth at least twice a day (I hope that’s a given. . .), but far too many of us shirk over our flossing duties. It can be a pain, but it truly is an important step in oral care, so just do it!
Exercise Regularly | Ugh, physical activity. The bane of every non-health related blog owner’s existence. Yes, exercise can be a pain, especially if you are someone who is unmotivated, lazy, deals with depression, etc., but exercise helps lower your risk for certain diseases, including type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, strengthens your heart, and releases endorphins, which are feel-good hormones that lower pain perception and give you positive vibes. It’s suggested to have at least three workouts per week, but if doing something rigorous and time-consuming is daunting to you, just start off small by doing a few simple exercises, such as jogging in place, squatting and planking, in your bedroom every day until you get to a point where you feel you can step up your game, so to speak.
Eat Healthily | Believe me when I say that I love junk food just as much as the next person, but eating it on a regular basis makes me feel like absolute crap. Now, disclaimer: This is not me trying to shove some kind of moral/food agenda down your throat, but I will say that ever since going vegan last February, I have noticed that I feel a lot more comfortable after eating than I ever did when eating meat or being on a vegetarian “diet” for four years. The way we eat significantly impacts our mood. For example, people who eat mostly healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables typically feel less sad and aggressive on a daily basis in comparison to people who mostly eat junk foods such as burgers and sugary candy. The way we eat also affects our weight, digestion, and overall nourishment. I’m not saying to completely give up junk food, as it’s unrealistic in our day and age to expect everyone to do that (hell, I’ll admit it: I’m guilty of eating pints of coconut ice-cream and bags of potato chips all on my own), but cutting back on junk food, even just a little, will definitely improve your mood and general health. Just give it a try, okay? Don’t go crazy with counting calories, carbs and whatever else though, or else you might get obsessive with weight goals and barely eat 500 calories a day (again, guilty).
Drink Plenty of Water | I can proudly say that I drink more than enough water every day, but not so much that I’m over-drinking water, which can be just as bad as not drinking enough. It is recommended that you drink eight 8 oz. glasses of water a day in order to stay properly hydrated. Whereas I was a bit lenient with doing things “perfectly” on a couple other things on this list, I’m going to tell you right now that you need to do this. Drinking water helps your body perform basic functions, such as create saliva, aid in digestion, flush out toxins, etc. If you do nothing else on this list regularly, or even at all (please brush your teeth), at the very least drink plenty of water. Trust me when I say that you’ll regret not staying hydrated when you nearly pass out and have a migraine for the rest of the day, or possibly actually pass out and end up in the hospital hooked up to an IV giving you fluids.
Sleep | Plain and simple, get some sleep. I know first hand that it’s not that easy for some people. Getting only three to four hours of sleep each night, if even that, is torture. However, staying up watching Netflix or playing games on your phone at eleven o’clock at night is not helping anything. The light emitted from screens can delay the brain’s release of melatonin, which is the hormone that lets your body know it’s time for sleep. Also, staying up late doing work or making plans or whatever the hell you’re doing at one in the morning is obviously going to throw your sleep schedule off-balance. You might hate doing it, but laying down at a set time every night and setting an alarm in the morning with enough time in between to get 7-10 hours of sleep can really help you have plenty of energy to get through the day, because you’ve given your body time to rest and prepare itself for the next time you’re up and moving around. Getting enough sleep helps prevent extreme weight fluctuations, reduce stress, lower risk for serious health problems (ex. heart disease), improve immune system functions, etc. It’s important, so if you’re having serious trouble sleeping, talk with a professional and see what kind of medicine or routine you can start on to hopefully get an adequate amount of sleep each night.
Now get off your phone and go to bed. It’s late.

SKIN CARE!
This is such a dream, ‘yung aktwal na may magtanong ng skin care routine ko HAHAHA. Pero eto na, I will share the things I do to my fezlak hoping they would help you too.
Syempre, I just need to put some disclaimers here like: I’m not a skin care professional, I don’t even think I’m an enthusiast. So try these out at your own risk!
Also, I guess it’s important to note that I have a combination skin type. I have a mix of dry and oily areas. That said, everyone has a different skin type and what works for me might work differently for you.
Tumblr media
GETTING RID OF PIMPLE MARKS
I feel like this needs its own segment because a huge chunk of my glow up owes to my perseverance to get rid of my pimple marks.
I had bad acne throughout high school, so naturally, the aftermath was a constellation of dark marks. They were such a big nuisance because they’re so ugly and rough hahaha.
What helped me get rid of them was consistent exfoliation. I have to emphasize consistency because you wouldn’t get rid of them in one try. I had to get the hang of exfoliating 1-2 times a week for a couple of months before they vanished.
Products I use to get rid of my pimple marks:
St. Ives Scrub
Anyone who has ever talked to me about skin care must know how much I love this product. St. Ives is my holy grail facial scrub because it doesn’t disappoint. It always leaves my face soft as a baby’s butt cheek.
I exfoliate 1-2 times a week, and then I moisturize heavily afterwards, because exfoliating can be very drying.
Tumblr media
Kojic
I also sought Kojic’s help to lighten my pimple marks. But here’s a very important reminder: Use this sparingly! 1-2 times a week is enough.
I actually tried using Kojic as a facial soap and it resulted in a burnt face with painful peeling. You’ve been warned.
MY CURRENT, 4-STEP SKIN CARE ROUTINE
My current skin care is actually very simple (and affordable, if that matters).
I limited it to 4 steps because I care more about consistency over the grandeur of having so many products and steps. I do this routine at night. Before I succumb to hours of Mobile Legends.
1. CLEANSING
Do I have to expound on this? HAHA.
Water + Your Cleanser of Choice = Cleansing!
My current cleanser is The Face Shop’s 365 Herb Day Cleansing Foam. It’s mild, smells great, doesn’t dry the skin, and actually lasts for a long time. The tube I’m using is still the one I bought last Christmas. A pea-sized portion is good enough to cover your entire face.
I also used Myra’s Facial Wash for a long while. I loved this cleanser too because it’s mild and not drying. I switch between these two cleansers, whichever is available.
Tumblr media
Double Cleansing
A lot of people recommend doing a double cleanse, pero tamad ako for this tbh. So, I only do this when I wear heavy makeup. On regular days, I ditch this step (I don’t wear heavy makeup).
Double cleansing is basically using an oil-based cleanser or makeup remover to swipe away all the makeup before you wash your face (you must not skip this step if you wore a makeup base!).
I use Pond’s cold cream when I double cleanse. A lot of titas can testify to how good it is. Alam niyo sa Mulan, nung tinanggal ni Mulan yung makeup niya in one swipe? Pond’s Cold Cream gamit niya ‘don.
Tumblr media
2. TONING
Using a toner really brightened up my face. Prior to learning about this skin care step, my face was so dark and ashy from all the impacted oil and sebum. You’d be surprised at the amount of dirt your toner can unearth from your face. Even after cleansing.
My current toner is *drum roll* Eskinol!
Tumblr media
Although you’re most welcome to go for fancier alternatives like Celeteque, Witch Hazel, Kiehl’s and the likes.
How I apply my toner is another thing. I actually learned this technique from Korean beauty vloggers, and even saw some EXO members do it hahaha.
I like to soak 2 cotton pads with toner and just leave them on my face like this.
Tumblr media
This technique helps with minimizing my pores. After 2 minutes, I take them off and just swipe them across my face down to my neck like I normally would.
3. MOISTURIZING
Moisturizing is my favorite skin care step because it’s the secret to my glass skin haha. A lot of people take this step for granted but it’s actually very important.
I learned that keeping your face well-moisturized is key to having lesser breakouts and blackheads! It makes perfect sense because if your face feels dry then it would feel more compelled to produce oil which results in pimples, sebum, and blackheads.
I actually saw it for myself. When I began moisturizing everyday, I had lesser breakouts and close to zero blackheads.
My current moisturizer is The Face Shop’s Jeju Aloe Ice. I use this in rotation with Myra’s Smooth Glow moisturizer. I have two moisturizers because I think my face has different needs depending on the weather and what time of the month it is. But it’s fine to have just one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. EXFOLIATING AND PIMPLE CONTROL
I love exfoliating because I love having my face feel soft as a baby’s butt. It’s also an essential step in keeping the skin smooth and bright. I’ve already talked about my exfoliation regimen with St. Ives’ Apricot Scrub above. So just scroll up.
For pimple control, I use: Defensil.
Tumblr media
I still get pimples. Especially when it’s that time of the month, when I’m puyat, or after a Samgyup dinner hahaha. I count on Defensil to help stop a breakout in its tracks. It’s an antibacterial soap that can deal with pimples before they even erupt. It also helps with pimple marks!
I use Defensil very sparingly though--only when I have to. Because this soap can be very drying.
OTHER TIPS/STEPS
I wash my face with water in the morning. No soaps and cleansers, just water.
I stopped wearing foundation in 2018. And mind you, my skin was still whack during this time. It was a sacrifice I did for the greater good haha.
2 years later, my little sacrifice paid off because I no longer get blackheads as bad as I used to.
I throw in a face mask every once in a while. But I’m honestly too tamad for this skin care step.
I know it sounds pathetic to hear people say that drinking lots of water is their skin care secret. But it actually works.
Don’t touch your face with dirty hands! Even before COVID, I already made it a habit to sanitize my hands regularly because I feel iffy about touching my face with dirty hands (arte?!)
Powder (especially talc!) + sweat = blackheads. I stopped using talc on my face for a couple of years now. When I do use powder, I make sure to cleanse my face very very well.

My Updated Skincare Routine
Tumblr media
You might have read my previous post about my skincare routine. Since I’ve been discovering and trying out new products for my skin lately, let me get you into details of those new products I’ve incorporated into my old routine.
Let’s start with the usual:
Tumblr media
My AM and PM facial foam because my skin reacted well with this facial wash. I’ve started using this COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser last June and I must say that this one’s doing a good deal to my skin. I’m actually looking for an alternative like the one with a scrub and I’m eyeing Innisfree’s Jeju Volcanic Pore Scrub Foam. Not decided yet, tho.
Next would be the toners or beauty water:
Tumblr media
Yes, I’ve added Innisfree’s Jeju Volcanic Pore Toner and it’s almost half now. This one smells so good and it says to tighten pores which I think is true. This one’s a daily pore treatment toner made with Jeju volcanic scoria to remove excess sebum according to its description. You also have to shake this one well before using because it contains mineral powder inside.
Of course, my ultimate favorite Beauty Water from Son & Park. This one’s a travel size and can be carried easily anywhere. Why I love this one? It’s because this one refreshes my skin well and it doesn’t contain any alcohol and smells so good as well.
I never had any breakout with these two so it goes to show that I am using the right products.
Next stop, my essence, and power liquid:
Tumblr media
I’ve said in my last skincare post that I am yet to try this COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. I’ve been using this one for three months now and the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid for two months. My skin is so prone to blackheads but the power liquid did a big change on my T-Zone and chin part. I’ve got fewer blackheads on those parts and with the help of the essence, my skin feels firm and smooth. These two are such great skin game players! I’ve tried the AHA Whitehead Power Liquid but I got breakouts so I stopped. I would highly recommend these two: one for a younger looking skin and the other for a zero blackhead skin.
Let’s jump into my serum:
Tumblr media
Okay, this one’s a new favorite because I’ve just added this to my routine one month ago. Dear Klair’s Pure Vitamin C Serum has a very good effect on my skin. One time, a friend kept on staring at my face and noticed that there’s a certain glow on my cheeks. Yaay! By that time, I’m on my second week with this product. A very visible effect in just two weeks. What’s good about Vitamin C Serum? a) keeps skin looking younger b) reduces skin discoloration c) creates brighter, healthier skin d) promotes collagen production and so on. It has a lot of good benefits to the skin but you should be aware that our skin can also be extra sensitive when using it so be sure to use a sunscreen daily. I super love this one! Yaay! Moisturizers? Yes.
Tumblr media
Now, I’m still loyal to my St. Ives Timeless Skin Moisturizer it’s just that, I was given a free sample of Innisfree Green Tea Seed Deep Cream and after using it for two days, I’ve noticed some positive changes on my skin. It has a matte finish and moisturizes my skin pretty well. I love the smell too! That’s why samples are really helpful when it comes to trial and error with products. This doesn’t have any sticky feeling on the skin but you have to wait for a moment till the skin absorbs it well. I still use St. Ives after a noon bath because I just want to still make use of it.
Night Mask and Eye Cream:
Tumblr media
I love the effect of Mizon’s Good Night White Sleeping Mask but I might switch to COSRX Overnight Honey Mask. I’ve tried few samples of it and it worked well. Waking up feeling and looking so moisturized and my skin looks so fresh and clear in the morning. The eye cream, I’ve noticed some fine lines under my eyes and forehead was tamed! It may take a while to see the result but this eye cream was worth it.
Tumblr media
Sure I would never get tired of using this COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pad especially when I get breakouts due to trying out samples. This will be my holy grail for unwanted pimples sprouting occasionally on my face.
Tumblr media
My ever favorite sunscreen! Will forever repurchase this one but I would also like to try Missha’s All Around Safe Block Sebum Zero Sun SPF 50 because well, cute packaging! haha! Can’t finish the routine without this one!
Exfoliators:
Tumblr media
So here are my exfoliators! I usually exfoliate every Wednesday and Sunday, yep twice a week would be enough for my skin. You may do it three times a week depending on your skin type. How do I manage to use all of them? Depends on what my skin needs at the moment. Like when I feel like my skin is so dry, I will use Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off or the Rice Mask. When I feel so oily and dirty, I use Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask and when I feel like I needed some peeling, I use Daiso Japan’s Natural Peel-Off Mask. My ultimate favorite for an all around exfoliation would be Neogen’s Bio-Peel Lemon!
It does wonder to my skin plus the smell of real lemon. It has two sides; the rough one for getting rid of dead skin and the soft side for the final touch. I would like try the Wine one next.
Extra! Extra!
Tumblr media
Definitely, a nose pack would be a must for me. Since my skin is prone to whiteheads and blackheads, this Etude House Greentea Nose Pack is my go-to! My nose is so hiyang with this one and the one from Black Kill 3-step nose pack which was very hard to find.
MASK! MASK! MASK!
Tumblr media
You cannot complete the 10 step without using a mask. These two are my forever favorite! I can just settle with these two especially the one with the shea butter. Why? Because it can give me instant blush-on and clear finish! The pearl does the brightening and moisturizing but the shea butter can help you go on your day without even putting any BB Cream or foundation. Not to be OA but that’s how it works for me.
Tumblr media
So here are the junks sitting on my skincare corner giving my skin the TLC that it needs and made me broke! haha! But it was worth it. I’m glad I switched from having a water-only facial wash routine to 10-step Korean skincare routine. I’ll probably never get tired of applying and using these products and will surely try more! I noticed that I still have a lot of issues that I need to take care of when it comes to my skin. Next thing on my list is The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2%. Why? Because I heard that a) it boost production of collagen, keeping skin firm. b) fighting the free radicals that can cause wrinkles. c) helps gets rid of wrinkles and dark spots.
I’m turning 30 next month so guys, TUMATANDA NA KO! haha and so as my skin. That’s why I have to continue finding another formula for a healthier and better-looking skin. So, andami diba? Nakakatamad especially when you’re having a rough day, but note that it’s sanayan lang! andami diba? Nakakatamad especially when you’re having a rough day, but note that it’s sanayan lang!
Tumblr media
NOTE: I have a sensitive to oily skin and these products worked well on me. You should know your skin type first before making your own routine or trying out new products. Thank you for reading!
Tumblr media
Left: The usual Sunday after exfoliation face Right: The good morning face! Yung eyebags ko inborn na, forever na kaming magsasama nyan. haha!

Monday Merriment
Infusing grandeur into otherwise drab Mondays with five things/ideas/events for the week.
Tumblr media
I.  If I could choose how to spend the perfect day, it would be entirely in the kitchen. I planned to do so yesterday, but lost track of time on a hike and found myself frantically abbreviating my elaborate dinner menu. While most homemade desserts include several ingredients and take precision to execute, soufflés surprisingly fall outside both categories. With all the ingredients already on-hand, I whipped up a spiced chocolate version with crème anglaise in under twenty-minutes. (Do it in fifteen by substituting melted vanilla bean ice cream for the anglaise). Here’s the recipe for two individual soufflés.
Ingredients: tbsp soft butter, tbsp diced cold butter, tbsp white sugar, 6-oz chopped semisweet chocolate (or half a bag of semisweet chocolate chips), half tsp cinnamon, half tsp cayenne, half tsp cream of tartar, two eggs.
Instructions: preheat oven to 400 degrees. Melt chocolate in microwave whisking every thirty seconds to prevent clumping (about two minutes) or on the stove, then stir in cold butter/cinnamon/cayenne. Separate eggs, combining the yolks with the chocolate mixture and placing the whites in a bowl. Add cream of tartar to the whites and use an electric mixer or Kitchen-aid to whisk until stiff peaks form. Gently fold egg whites into the chocolate mixture until you can no longer see white. Butter two small ramekins (you can find these everywhere from most grocery stores to Williams-Sonoma) and divide white sugar between them so that the sugar covers the butter, then discard any extra sugar by tapping the ramekins upside down over your sink. Evenly distribute the chocolate mixture between the two ramekins and bake for 10-12-minutes until the tops rise about an inch over the rim of the ramekins. Serve immediately alone or with crème anglaise poured in the center.
Tumblr media
II.  Over the weekend, a friend I hadn’t seen in nearly two years came to visit. Though his trip was only 24-hours, we decided to make the most of it by exploring scenic Highway 1 south of Monterey. With no clear plan in mind, we meandered down the coast, blasting 80′s music, stopping for drinks at Roy’s fire pits, pausing for pictures at Bixby Bridge and Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, and engaging in deep conversation. Our journey ended at legendary Hearst Castle, which neither of us had ever been to, before turning around to head home. I arrived back in San Francisco with a renewed sense of dedication to making time for spontaneous trips outside the city going forward. Whether you’re a local with a penchant for sticking to routine (like me) or planning your next California vacation, I can’t recommend the breathtaking 80-mile stretch between Big Sur and San Simeon highly enough.
Tumblr media
III.  After following Emily Weiss (who can forget her portrayal of Teen Vogue’s resident mean girl on The Hills?!) for a decade, I finally gave in to temptation and ordered several products from her direct-to-consumer beauty company Glossier. The millennial pink branding and cult following make the items must-haves for women under the age of 40. After perusing reviews, I decided to order cleanser, toner, makeup remover, moisturizer, and vitamin c serum. Much to my horror, I awoke with a rash on my face after using all of the products the evening they arrived. I initiated a return, and was shocked when they issued a full refund after advising that I keep everything for free and take the time to try each product separately to identify the culprit. The impressive customer service more than made up for the rash, and will keep me coming back as a newly minted Glossier devotee. So far, I’m a fan of the exfoliating toner and affordable C serum, and plan to order Boy Brow soon.
Tumblr media
IV.  What if there was an easy way to craft a stunning floral arrangement without employing flimsy tape grids or messy foam? Well, I’m delighted to tell you that there is! Handmade ceramics boutique Rico Terre recently launched holed vases that make creating bouquets significantly easier. An added bonus, you will require less flowers because they won’t be crammed together. Play with height variation and thin branches to take your arrangement to the next level.
Tumblr media
V.  A fan of both exotic leather and monogrammed anything - I’m constantly on the lookout for phone cases that marry the two. My first try, Gigi New York, had an attractive price-point, but felt a little unsophisticated. My second attempt, celebrity-endorsed brand Vianel, was completely underwhelming. The company’s logo was displayed prominently on the case, and my monogram wore off within a few weeks. Third time was the charm, because I’m in love with the cases I ordered from The Case Factory (black alligator and gray ostrich, both with gold lettering). The Stockholm-based company creates gorgeous pieces that arrive quickly and last around a year before showing signs of wear and tear. If you’re in the market for yourself or a gift, I enthusiastically suggest checking out TCF.
Have a wonderful week! xx tt

My Current Skincare Routine (012017)
Hello, Lovely!
5th blog post YAY! Again I would love to thank everyone who had liked my Innisfree no sebum mineral powder blog, 100 likes and counting. I'm so amazed at the amount of attention I've been getting I'm very grateful, I've had some lovely conversations with some friends here on Amino I'm just amazed at how lovely everyone's been so THANK YOU 🍑
I thought I should let my friends (all of you) know about my personal skin care routine! DISCLAIMER: I am by no means a skin care expert, I do whats been working for me, it may not work for you but it does work for me. At the moment I'm still testing things out, I mean I'm still using a westerner eye cream and I am in hope to find an amazing Korean one! So if you have any recommendations please let me know and they will go on my wishlist, Thank you in advance!
Okay, let's get started!
Background Info:
I do wear makeup nearly every day as I'm working or I'm at school. I love makeup and feel the need to do it every day (don't judge I do it for me, not for anyone else, I enjoy 'painting' my face). But I do have to say after a long day I'm hyped to take it all off, best feeling every.
Just info on my skin type too, I have an oily T-zone (nose, cheeks forehead and chin) cheeks and the surrounding of my face is dry too. I have past acne scarring, which has faded and not a big problem. I have small pore which I treat every week with a mask, I don't do any nose pore strips nor do I use that tool that brings the sebum out, I just leave it. I do suffer from acne ( I'm only 17, I'm a teen so I'm not threatened by pimples, I'm still young!) which I never pop my pimples, I leave them to do it thing and I have somewhat sensitive skin, like super sensitive to acidic masks (*caugh lemon).
Tumblr media
01.Beauty water
I first start off with a Beauty water, taking my eye makeup off first, ensuring everything off. I know this is a westerner brand, in all honesty, this was like my first 'skincare' product I ever got, I've been using it for the last 3 years!
Tumblr media
Product: Simple Kind to skin micellar cleansing water.
How: I usually put some of the water on a cotton pad and softly wipe my eye makeup off, ensuring that everything is taken off before going on to the next step.
02.Oil Cleanser
Secondly, I use an oil cleanser, I always use a water-based cleanser around my eyes as oil cleaners seem to make my eyes foggy (?) and I hate that. Everyone knows this brand, I personally like it. The oil does get my foundation off my face while not being harsh which is a benefit!
Tumblr media
Product: Banila co. Clean is zero (original)
How: Using a spatula, I grab about a 10c coin amount and rub it into my face, I usually message it in bringing it down to my neck. I usually do this before I go into the shower so when I'm in I run warm water and wash the oil away, it turns almost milky.
03. Water Based Cleanser
The third step is cleansing all of the oils off, I usually use a foamed based cleanser which I know isn't the best to use as foam cleanser can spread germs, but like I mentioned before it works for me and I haven't practically broken out from using a foam. I usually wash my face with a foam cleanser in the shower which is easiest for me.
Tumblr media
Product: Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Foam
How: Squeeze as small amount of the product (10c coin size) onto wet hands and rub onto a wet face massaging it into the skin ensuring that all of the oils and makeup comes off, wash with warm water.
Recommendations
Another great foam cleanser is the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Cleansing Foam!
Tumblr media
04. Exfoliation
I usually exfoliate about twice to three times a week. It really comes down to how I feel, if I've worn thick makeup that day or I feel the need to exfoliate, I never do this too hard just enough to ensure that I've softly scrubbed the dead skin away.
Tumblr media
Apologies for the dirty packaging its been in my shower, where I usually keep it as I do most of my cleansers!
Product: Skinfood Black Sugar Perfect Essential Scrub X2
How: I usually (as mentioned) do this in the shower, so I grab a small amount and water it down a little bit before i softly scrub over my face washing the srub off after scrubbing my face for 50 seconds to a minute.
Another Exfoliation Method
Now and again i change it up and use a peeling gel, which i feel can provide better results, i defently see and feel the difrence afterwards.
Tumblr media
Product: Holika Holika Lazy & Easy Egg Smoothing Egg Peeling Gel
How: Squeeze a small amount onto hand and rub into face and watch how your dead skin forms into little balls, wash away with warmish water.
Tumblr media
How cute is this, I love Gudetama!
05.Toners
I actually love toners, they have actually help with my past acne scarring and seem to balance my skin's redness! Plus toners make your skin feel as soft as a babies bottom.
Tumblr media
Product: Skinfood Black Sugar Perfect First Serum in Light
How: I usually shake some into my hand then I pat it into my face and neck. If I'm feeling fancy I'll pour some onto a cotton pad and swipe all over my face and neck.
06.Serums
I actually just started using serums as I was kind of lost as to what they do, but honey can I tell you I'm so happy I tried it. My acnes has healed up a tonne (still have some left but it's fading which is positive) and my pores seem to be smalleer (not that they were big, to begin with). My skin legit drinks this in, i love it!
Tumblr media
Product: Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum
How: Like the toner, i pump two pumps into my hand and dab (please don't) into my face and neck.
07.Eye Creams
Eh, I I'm sorry I don't have any Korean products to show you but this is what I've been using for the last 5 months, I'm looking for a Korean eye cream so if you have any recommendations I'll be highly grateful.
I know I'm young (17) but I still hope to keep my under eyes hydrated, that's all. I don't care about bags or darkness I just hope for them to be nice and hydrated.
Tumblr media
Product: Olay Anti-Ageing Eye Cream
How: I lightly dip my finger into the cream and light tap it around my eyes bringing it onto my lids.
08. Moisturiser
I've had a hard time trying to find the one (not that I've had a massive look around) and I've just started using this again, I say again because I started using it about 1 -2 months ago and I started to break out. I want sure if it was something else (as I was trying other things) or it was this product. Well, I confirm that this wasn't the problem. I've been using it the last 3 - 4 days and I haven't broken out and it seems to do the job, not sure if it's going to be great in winter. It's summer where I am right now...prays.
Moisturisers I've been using for 2 years or so, I was so bad with my skin before. Definitely, notice the different in just hydrating my face!
Tumblr media
Product: Etude House Moistful Collagen Cream
How: I spoon a little on my hand (clean) and dot it around my face then I rub it in (not too hard) and round my face bringing it down to my neck.
EXTRAS
This section is just other things I do now and again, spot treatments, mask, sleeping mask etc.
Spot Treatment
I usually use two things, I know one of them is a little harsh but for me, it works and it doesn't leave scarring.
Tumblr media
Product: Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil Antiseptic
How: I usually put some tea tree oil on a q-tip then apply to the risen pimple before bed, in the morning I make sure to wash my face.
Tumblr media
Product: Nexcare Blemish Clear Cover
How: Peel off a sticker and place over a pimple, let that stay one overnight and in the morning peel it off, carefully. You can actually see all the junk come out off onto the sticker, ew!
Sheet Masks
Sheet mask does wonders to the skin, you can get all different types brightening, moister, pore tightening etc. I usually use mask 2 - 3 times a week depending on how my skins feeling and looking.
I've been using sheet masks for the last 1-2 years, these were the first skincare items I had even before moisturisers. I use to get mine from The Face Shop, the only Korean place in my city. I love them so much.
Tumblr media
Product: Olive Young X DreamWorks Sheet masks (Fav: Kung Fu Panda)
How: After toning your face place one of these onto your face and leave for 20-30 minutes afterwards pat what's left into your skin.
Others:
-Innisfree Rose, Strawberry and Honey Mask
-Etude house Hydraulic and Snail Mask
-Too cool for school Egg Cream Mask
-The Face Shop Mung Bean Mask
-Nature Republic Snail Mask
Clay Mask
I do switch between sheet and clay mask every week, for me sheet masks are something that quicker and easier and clay mask are something I use when I'm not busy and have time to sit down.
These masks are popular and everyone knows them, I personally love these two the most out of clay mask that I've tried.
Tumblr media
Product: Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask
How: I use the little spatula (that was in my ELIZAVECCA Carbonated mask review) and put a good amount into my hand then I spread it onto my face and leave it for 30-35 minutes. Afterwards, i wash it off with warm water and pat my face dry.
Tumblr media
Product: Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask
How: Using a spatula I spread onto my face and let it bubble for 5 minutes, then I wet my hand a message my face for 2 minutes, washing it off with warm water.
I have a review on it if your interested if I remember ill leave the link here (*)
Sleeping Masks
Now and again when five had a busy day and haven't had the time to put a sheet mask or clay mask on, then ill stick with a sleeping mask. These are great for something quick to use.
Tumblr media
Product: Laneige Water Sleeping Maks
How: Apply a thin amount on your face before bed. When you have awoken wash this off with the little bit of water and notice how squishy your face is.
Tumblr media
Product: Too cool for school Pumpkin Sleeping Pack
How: Apply a thin amount on your face before bed. When you have awoken wash this off with the little bit of water and see the brightening effects.
Random
I got this as a freebie in Beyond and have been using it the past month, it's just a simple body moisturiser but it's so good, smells great too!
Tumblr media
Product: Beyond Deep Moisture Body Emulsion
How: Put an appropriate amount into hand then spread over wanted dry area on the body, it's not oily so it's okay for wearing during the daytime !
Thank you for reading this very long post, I hope this was somewhat informative!
Thank you for your support again x
Till next time, Peach out 🍑

How to prep for the season like a pro: A guide of 100 products for your whole body
Tumblr media
Beauty and skincare will never be one size fits all and that’s how it should be because you’re unique and so is your skin. Nobody knows how your skin reacts to the weather, stress and hormonal changes like you do. Of course, it being Christmas season you will be running here, there and everywhere like a Tasmanian devil and you need to look your best. Here is a handy guide to get you looking fabulous and get you in the mood to drink Prosecco everyday even though it’s all you want to do all year around anyway. There are 100 products for eyes, hair, skin and nails so you are completely covered!
Tumblr media
Step one: Cleanse
Cleanser is the foundation of skincare. No… cleanser is the primer and foundation of skincare. Fight the laziness in you that only cleanses with micellar water and try double cleansing. You’d be shocked if you knew just how much of this week’s makeup is still sitting on your skin.
Double cleansing will dig out the grime, dirt and bacteria that lie deep in your pores. Don’t forget to try and use Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA) products, which will exfoliate and cleanse your face on a whole new level. AHA and BHA products work by cutting the bonds that stop dead skin from holding onto the surface of your skin. AHA works on skin’s surface and BHA works on the surface and deep in pores.
For dry skin, try Kiehl’s Ultra Facial cleanser and toner, £9-17, which will sweep away impurities, any leftover makeup and also hydrate your skin so that’s it’s not tight but feels cool and plump. Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, £16, is an award-winning, cult cleanser. Applying warm water directly onto your face opens your pores, allowing the cleanser to reach a deeper layer of skin.
Eve Lom Cleanser, £40, is a cleanser and a decongestant for your skin. With eucalyptus, clove, hops – yeah, like beer – and Egyptian chamomile, Eve Lom’s OG cleanser will drain your skin of toxins and clean off even the most stubborn makeup. For a cheaper-but-just-as-good option, No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Balm, £9.50, is a product I’ve been using for about four or five years myself and as someone with crazy dry skin, this always takes off makeup, comforts my skin and hydrates it. Because it doesn’t need water, you don’t need to worry about dry patches! St Ives Nourish & Smooth Oatmeal Scrub and Mask, £5.65, is ideal for when skin is dry, tight and irritated. Enter this oatmeal scrub mask, which softens skin and – I personally find – hydrates skin whilst scrubbing the day away.
If you’re oily pick Origins Zero Oil Deep Pore Cleanser, £16.50, for the soothing aloe leaf juice mixed with salicylic acid (BHA) that will calm stressed skin or Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel, £13.
Glossier Jelly Milk Cleanser, £15, is one for normies and those with sensitive skin, this cleanser can be used dry or on wet skin. Did we mention the rosewater infusion that will make you smell amazing and soothe stressed skin? Lastly, Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing foaming cleanser, £6, is great as everyone knows tea tree is the go-to for dealing with oily skin and thankfully, The Body Shop have bottled it for a bargain at £6. Matte skin won’t be far away with this Christmas!
Remember: Massage cleanser into skin for a minute with gentle pressure in circular, upwards motions and rinse off with lukewarm water, never hot.
The Extra Bit: Tools
Your hands can only do so much. If they did everything that your face needed, brands wouldn’t be constantly creating amazing tools to really clean the skin and upgrade your natural beauty. Natural is good but hey, a finger can’t get into the crevices like a vibrating brush.
Foreo Luna Go for Oily Skin, £85, is expensive yes but so is Christmas, so is having bad skin and so is feeling like you missed out on something truly life changing. The Foreo works best with cream based cleansers due to its circular motion that will lift the oil off your face. Continue your routine as you would and feel the difference.
The Clarisonic Deep Pore Cleansing Mia Brush, £125, is the one that started the trend. Another pricey one but keep reading. I love mine and can’t live without it. I’ve not even had to charge it yet! You can change the brush head to suit your skin as it changes with the weather and your boyfriend can even use the men’s brush head designed to work with beards. Use with Lancôme cleanser to give yourself a daily pampering sesh.
For those whose pockets aren’t as deep, opt for the Clinique Sonic System Deep Cleansing Brush, £79. Following in Clarisonic’s footsteps, Clinique’s purifying brush is perfect for reaching into your t-zone. This gentle brush will work on sensitive skin or those with acne. The Charcoal cleansing brush head will get to work on those pesky whiteheads and remove blackheads.
Tumblr media
Step two: Tone
Toning is extremely important straight after cleansing to take off any extra oils. Best described as a liquid cleanser-cum-moisturiser, toners aren’t what they used to be. Rather than strip the skin, they restore and replenish. Paula’s Choice Resist Anti-Aging Toner, £22, will fight brown spots, blackheads and is extremely light whilst being suitable for normal, oily and combination skin.
Neal's Yard Remedies Rehydrating Rose Toner, £16, balances and calms sensitive, normal and dry skin or kill two birds with one stone and use Mizon AHA & BHA Daily Cleansing Toner (these again!) which will clarify and exfoliate your skin with salicylic acid which will unclog pores, improve dull skin, diminish wrinkles and clear away excess oil thus stopping spots in their tracks. Aesop Moisture Replenishment for dry skin, £89, contains a Parsley Seed toner in this amazing set that will quench your parched skin with fresh, natural products.
Step three: Exfoliate
As you’ll probably have found yourself a fantastic AHA or BHA toner, to give your skin a daily exfoliating treatment, you might think the hard work is over but it’s not. Exfoliating is still important because this is where you polish your face and removes those more visible dry skin flakes and evidence of a long week. Depending on your skin type or how you’re feeling during your particular routine, you can use a microdermabrasion scrub – like Botanic Radiant Youth Microdermabrasion Polish £9.99, which uses natural, grainy particles and suits normal and dry skin types best.
Acne prone, sensitive or irritated skin types are better suited to chemical exfoliators, which are gentle and have a 2-in-1 effect by peeling – thus exfoliating - and moisturising. A good chemical exfoliator should contain AHA, BHA, pumpkin, papaya and pineapple enzymes such as Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel, £33, but if you can’t get your hands on one easily, try Dr Dennis Gross Smooth & Flawless: Peel + Moisturize, £42. A good choice is also Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub, £4.99, to invigorate your skin and prevent blackheads.
Little tip for you guys. Scrub your lips with brown sugar and an old toothbrush before putting a dollop of your chosen moisturising mask on your lips and leave on for ten minutes before washing off. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish, £19.50, is perfect for scrubbing away stubborn lipstick stains and hydrating lips.
Step 4: Masks
Now that you have cleansed, toned and exfoliated your face, you are ready to apply masks onto your face. There are millions of masks out there and I am one who swears by using over six different masks one after the other to target different areas, sort out different problems, mattify, hydrate etc.
Applying masks to your face is the most chilled out part of the whole ordeal depending on what kind of mask you do. Most masks take roughly five to twenty minutes to get to work, which is plenty of time to get your Christmas movie marathon started.
I would personally start with a Biore One Minute Self Heating Mask, £8.49. They will open the pores before purifying them with charcoal (the first of a few charcoal products I list) and get your skin prepped for the barrage of masks to come. They also just feel really good!
Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment, £42, can be applied onto one’s face for a staggering eight hours and when it is wiped off, will leave skin feeling more hydrated than you’ve ever known. Glamglow also have the Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment, Supermud Clearing Treatment and Powermud Dualclean Treatment to sort out your woes. If you want something a bit less thick, Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Masque, £50, contains Papaya, pineapple, sugarcane and sugar maple. Irritated and red skin will sing as it cools hot areas whilst tight pores will relax and dry skin will be hydrated.
Dr Hauschka Clarifying Clay Mask, £25, is a nifty powder that you can mix with water into a paste to your desired consistency and amount. To try something a bit more faddish – but extremely hardworking - Dr Jart+ Firm Lover Rubber Mask, £10, restores the lost elasticity in your skin with berry extract, salicylic acid and red seaweed. If you want to refrain from water, try Charlotte Tilbury Instant Magic Dry Sheet Mask, £18, to lift your skin, brighten, tone, iron out lines and plump your face (thanks to collagen).
If you like natural masks that can be used one to two days before an event, soothe with Kiehl’s Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque, Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque, Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque, £29, or the charcoal, peel off BLAQ black mask, £14. Yes. I have listed three masks from Kiehl’s but have you used an actual Kiehl’s mask? It’s so fancy. The Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque is so potent you should only use it twice a week max. It’s bloody fabulous though. The Calendula & Aloe masque is like putting a fancy jelly on your face but it balances the skin and makes it cold to the touch, which is ideal for irritated and sensitive skin. The Turmeric and Cranberry masque contains fabulous antioxidants and brightens your dull, tired skin.
For bargain but robust masks, L’Oreal Pure Clay Purity Face Mask, £5.99, is a firm favourite of mine. This mask will help combat all those annoying signs of tired skin that has been done very wrong by polluted air. Kaolin absorbs your impurities and Ghassoul is a mineral concentrate, which will clarify your complexion. Let’s not forget Garnier Moisture Bomb Hydrating mask. Broke with sensitive skin? So am I. The struggle is real. But at least this mask is only £2.99 and it’ll hydrate, soothe, cool and revive your pretty face. Stick it on before watching Love Actually and you’ll be back to your best before that creepy/romantic scene.
Tumblr media
On-the-day masks can be used between two to six hours before you start to get ready for the party. Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish mask, £29, should be called ‘the deliverer’ because it’s going to do what it says on the tub. Apply this nifty mask to your face and sink into an herbal dream, comforted in the knowledge that you’ll have skin that’s visibly clearer and ready for the night ahead. Body Shop Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask, £17, will brighten your visage and polish your face.
Glossier Mega Greens Mask/ Moisturizing Moon Mask, £30, can be paired together or used individually a few hours before going out. Almond oil, hyaluronic acid and more will mattify, hydrate and clear skin.
Radiant faces are rarely ignored. That’s some wisdom from me to you. Try The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask, £17. At least the acai berries from the Amazon in this mask will let your real you shine bright. Did I mention that it’s also vegan? Don’t forget their Matcha Mask to fight pollution and keep you looking fresh!
I have more!
Liz Earle Superskin Overnight Mask, £42, is one of those prep-for-bed type masks as it has set of instructions to abide by. Applying this mask in a massaging motion will fight anti-ageing, smooth out skin whilst the Persian silk tree extracts nourish dry skin overnight.
Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Mask, £45, is kinda pricey. Like… food or skincare pricey but it’s always going to be worth it. Hyaluronic acid as we all know by now, holds up to 1000x more water so this is going to plump your dry skin perfectly!
Barry M Hydrating and Brightening sheet mask, £2, is just £2… A whopping £2, which is so expensive! Jokes aside this is great for the price because it genuinely brightens skin and sorts out your red patches - which I tend to get around my nose – just fine.
For those who don’t mind shelling out a bit and love anything to do with Kate Moss (she’s their brand ambassador), Decorte’s Vi-Fusion Essence Micro-Treatment Fluid Serum, £170, is a powerful Japanese engineered serum with the hydration of a lotion.
Don’t forget eye masks! Decorte Total Relief Eye Mask, £115, revives the delicate eye area with concentrated rejuvenating ingredients and stops you looking 100 at 30. For something more budget friendly, try newbie brand BLAQ’s Hydrogel Eye Mask, £22, for a charcoal pick me up that detoxes the eye area.
Step 5: Serums and Oils
Serums are so helpful. They elevate your glow up, round off your facial routine nicely and are like shots of high impact skin boosters. They’ll help you achieve your desired effect. The most popular serums contain hyaluronic acid, a game changer that holds 1,000 times its weight in water (I love The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, £5.90) but if you want to try others, apply The Ordinary’s Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone, £5.80, which slows aging, smooths your skin and brightens. Mix with a few drops of water to help the slight tingling, which is an effect of the potency of Vitamin C.
If you want a severely powerful shot of skincare wonder, the award-winning Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Complex II, £53, will work on your face whilst you sleep by giving you a youthful glow, reduce wrinkles and hydrate your skin. For a niche product, Kypris Beauty Elixir ll: Healing Bouquet, £77, is the one. Potent is the best word for this elixir. It has 24 natural actives so that it will battle your breakouts, envelope your face with scents of patchouli and restore and heal your beautiful face.
Remember Chanel’s Hydra Essential Serum, £78, next time you pop into Selfridges! A moisturising serum with Camellia Alba to restore moisture in your cells, it deserves a mention.
Try Danish wonder product, Ecooking Acne Serum, £43. This eco friendly Scandi native will totally own your blemishes with its Vegan powers and salicylic acid. Pestle & Mortar Pure Hyaluronic Serum, £33, will keep your skin looking fresh all night and can be used over or mixed in other moisturisers whilst Mario Badescu Anti Acne Serum, £17.50, will prevent any unexpected breakouts that may try to surprise you.
For eye serums that make an actual difference, try Benefit Firm it Up! Eye Serum, £31, because our eyes tell of the raucous night before, better than any other part of your visage.
Perfect your eye trio with Benefit’s It’s Potent eye cream – which preps eyes for concealer – and Puff Off! Eye Gel, which reduces puffy under eyes thanks to its cooling gel texture. Eyes will feel firmer, lines will be tightened and eyes will be brighter or opt for No7 Youthful Eye Serum, £20, for a shot of vitamin c and hyaluronic acid for revitalised and smoother eye areas.
Oils are ideal for actually balancing the oil in your skin, which will help to regulate how much your face produces. They can clear pores of excess sebum, fight irritation and inflammation and is a saviour for normal and dry skin.
New to the game, Skyn: Iceland Artic Face Oil, £30, is what takes your skincare game from 0-60 really quickly. This face oil is perfect for dry faces and will also be perfect mixed in with foundation – if you do that – or applied just before primer. Another perfect oil is Neal’s Yard Remedies Rehydrating Rose Facial Oil, £26. Fight the moisture loss that comes from the dry, cold air in winter or the hot, dry air in summer. Just fight moisture loss, ok?
For slightly older women, Sisley Black Rose Precious Face Oil, £143, has an extremely high concentration of omega 3 and 6, which is great for nourishing mature skin. Maybe you love their candles so much you’d trust Diptyque with your face? Their Infused Face Oil, £48, is luxury with a dropper that is scented with petals and almond and targets wrinkles.

Step 6: Moisturise
By now your face will be pink from all the activity but shouldn’t be red or irritated. It should be cool and tacky to the touch, hydrated yet matte, clear and visibly brighter. Murad Correcting Moisturiser, £45, is specifically designed for sensitive skin or those susceptible to redness and will colour correct your skin with the specially created tint whilst relieving skin tightness and cooling the skin with peppermint. Eve Lom Oil Free Moisturiser, £50, for oily skin is a light-as-a-feather fluid designed to keep your oily t-zone clear and matte by controlling shine with cornflour and witch hazel.
Dry skin will need moisturisers to take them through to bedtime and for that, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Balm, £24, is what you want. Stronger than a cream, this balm will steel your skin against anything life has to throw at you: the rain, the wind, cold sleet, unexpected snow and random annoying in-laws. Dr. Roebuck’s Pure face cream, £40, is a winning day and night cream you can use to seal the deal.
If your face is constantly hot to the touch, time to cool it down. Skyn: Iceland Anti-Dote Cooling Lotion, £32.50, is best after washing your face with the Glacial Face Wash. Let the cooling sensation take over your skin as you say goodbye to another stressful day.
Clarins Hydra Essentiel Cooling Gel, £36, is an intense cooling gel to match the intense dislike you have for the fact that your skin always looks dull and uneven. Gift it a moisturising boost of hyaluronic acid and some other science-y ingredients that will protect skin and leave it looking new.
If you prefer high street products, No7 Beautiful Skin Normal Skin Day/Night Cream, £14, can help. If you’re still not aware of No7, how is that possible because I found No7 in a CVS Pharmacy in Times Square in NYC! A fantastic high street product that compares with extremely high-end brands, don’t expect fancy ingredients here but do expect moisture to stay locked in place for these harsh winter months.
If you can throw down a thousand quid for La Mer, who are you and are you looking to adopt 28 year olds? La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream, £120, is nearly the same amount of a TFL Travelcard for zones 1-2. Honestly, if you never managed to get your hands on a La Mer cream, I wouldn’t blame you. The price makes me itch but put this on your face and you’ll start sacrificing £3.50 coffee every morning to save for a tub of this. La Mer penetrates skin deeply to moisturise skin several layers in. You can smell the opulence.
Step 7: Save your hair
I’m obsessed with my hair. I went through the natural hair journey and now I have a silk hair wrap and I wash it often and twist is so that there is as little shrinkage as possible. If you get your hair done a few days before you start attending different parties, then it’s best to start looking at what to use to keep hair looking good.
Cowshed Moody Cow Balancing Shampoo & conditioner, £16, is for oily hair. You’ll be a moody cow no mo after using this. Rose geranium, linden blossom, frankincense (perfect time for it) and manuka honey will regulate the production of oils on your scalp, nurture and balance your hair. If you can’t find a good shampoo for your hair, try Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo, £20. Use this after applying your hair masque for a weekly, deep cleaning, clarifying and detoxifying treatment. This will protect against hard water, pollution, laziness and anything else stopping you from reaching your GOAT hair.
Pureology Purifying Shampoo, £16, is another detoxifier that uses witch hazel, bicarbonate of soda and tea tree to control oily scalps and leave hair shiny. Those with dyed hair will also benefit from the sulphate free formula.
L’Oreal Elvive Clay Oily Roots Shampoo and Conditioner, £3, is for the cash strapped. Trust L’Oreal to bring science to beauty. By keeping your ends hydrated but purifying the roots, you hair will be balanced without ever been dry. Combined, the shampoo and conditioner will keep your hair sane for 72 hours and stop you from needing to over-wash your hair.
Maui Moisture Thicken & Restore Shampoo, conditioner and mist, £8.99, is specially formulated for brittle, weak and damaged hair. Coconut water, aloe vera, bamboo, castor oil and neem oil will pick your hair off the floor and stop it looking fried to death. Nourish, moisturise and restore your hair shafts. For those with chemically damaged hair, try the Agave shampoo and conditioner! Maui Moisture Nourish & Moisture, £8.99, is for tresses that take life easily but need a little help. Coconut milk, Guava oil, mango butter, Aloe Vera juice and Coconut water hydrates hair without leaving residue on the scalp, which can cause dandruff. For those who like more natural hair care, Maui Moisture is free of silicone, sulphate and mineral oil! Special shout out to the Curl Quench range for their insanely thick hair masque, which saved my hair from the snow last week!
Dry hair girls rejoice! HASK Argan Oil from Morocco Repairing Hair Shine Oil, £2.49, has your back. Argan oil, oh argan oil, where would we be without you? The people over at HASK have us covered with their amazing HASK Argan Oil from Morocco series. One of my favourites is the repairing shine oil, which pretty does that. It repairs your ends and keeps curls from frizzy town. Don’t forget this oil is part of a whole range of amazing hair care products!
And lastly, now that hair is fixed and looking good, buy a Silke Hair Wrap, £45. This is one for anyone getting their hair did sooner rather than later but don’t have silk pillowcases. Put your hair into this amazing silk wrap, look chic AF in your nightdress and wake up to hair that hasn’t tangled, dried out or worse. This is a real hair game-changer and will cost less than fixing what your pillow undid.

Step 8: Work the body
Who goes to a party, church, in-laws, Sainsbury’s looking ashy and broken? That’s right. Nobody.
Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Lotion, £7.69, is ideal for normal, sensitive and eczema skin types. Aveeno know that oat milk will keep your itchy and sensitive skin feeling normal and calm. Don’t believe me? Over 2379 people have rated this five stars on Boots’ website. Starskin Magic Hour Exfoliating Double-Layer Foot Mask Socks, £8.50 is for your tired feet! Who here has feet ravaged by heels, life or just general… life? Yes you, you and you. Good. This will make your feet peel - but in a good way. Dead skin will fall off and you’ll be left with feet you’ll want to put in flip-flops and show the world. Just don’t. It’s cold.
Molton Brown Juniper Berries and Lapp Pine Body Lotion, £25, is perfect for really deep Christmassy scents. I’ve mentioned the smell of this particular shower gel and I managed to use the body lotion and it is fabulous. Woody and fruity it is pure Lapland. It smells the way you’d imagine Santa’s back garden to smell….or the Winter Forest to smell behind Santa’s house. You’ll smell elegant, chic and like a pinecone at the party, a cute pine cone.
Sanex Zero Sensitive Skin body wash, £2.29, works for sensitive peeps. Sanex are the purveyors of simple, non-alcohol based and fragrance-free products. Their Zero% range contains even less ingredients to keep your skin clean, light and not free of anything that will irritate skin.
BOD Body Prep Pink Salt scrub, £12.99, will scrub away the day’s sins and will make you feel yourself. No, you can’t go out of the house naked in this cold even though you’ll want to! This amazing body scrub exfoliates your skin with pink salt, coconut and – if you’re that way inclined – glitter for a fun shower experience that will keep your skin hydrated for longer with its unique post-soak lotion.
If you like the more simple, Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Caring Shower Cream, £5, is a great bargain product that will soothe and hydrate. For only £5 you’ll probably chuck about six of these in your basket. Ethiopian honey mixes with Spanish almond milk to give your body a gentle wash that won’t irritate your skin.
Frank Body Scrub, £12.95, is for those who like to know that they’re recycling in as many ways as possible. This will buff your arse, make you smell good and tackle those horrid stretch marks. I’m buying 17 right now right after buying Legology Exfo-Lite Scrub for legs, £42, because IDK what I did to deserve these weird tiny brown marks on my legs from the first time I ever shaved but I’m still not feeling them. Legology will help you scrub your way to new legs with Himalayan pink crystals, lemon and sea salt. You’ll feel good enough to eat.
One more for coffee addicts! Zeroskin Coconut Coffee Scrub, £15, deserves applause. Zeroskin’s coffee scrub is fragrant and will envelope you in gorgeous scents of coconut and coffee. Surprisingly, this scrub works extremely well on eczema prone bodies but unsurprisingly, will help your cottage cheese parts. Scrub up and get down on New Years Eve!
Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliator, £22, is cooling and refreshing body exfoliators aren’t always what you would expect but if this can cool your irritated body down whilst getting rid of the horrible bits, we are very happy with that. Honey lovers should buy the BOD honey and brown sugar scrub, £12.99. This is going to make your bathroom smell like a hive. Apart from the fact that you won’t want to stop touching yourself, there is nothing bad to say about this scrub. We don’t mind the gold flakes, the honey smell that hangs around the house all day or the way the brown sugar scrubs away your impurities.
BLAQ Meteor Shimmer Scrub, £19.95, is one of the coolest products to scrub your shoulders with. Shimmer body scrub is something we can definitely get used to. Yes it’s a bit weird to be totally covered in black but that’s just the charcoal which is going to make skin fabulous as you exfoliate away your bad day with sea salt and meteorite powder.
Molton Brown Juniper Berries and Lapp Pine Body Lotion, £25, smells like woody heaven. I’ve mentioned the smell of this particular shower gel and I managed to use the body lotion and it is fabulous. Woody and fruity it is pure Lapland. It smells the way you’d imagine Santa’s back garden to smell… or the Winter Forest to smell behind Santa’s house.
For a body cream with a difference, Rodial Bee Venom 24 Carat Body Soufflé, £25, is another honey based wonder. Your bonnet is going to have so many bees in it because of how amazing this 24 carat gold soufflé is. It might only be £25 but it has a liquid concentrate of pure liquid gold. Solid. Gold. Rubbed on and around your body parts. Exactly. If you’re not feeling golden, try Rodial Bee Venom Body Serum, £68, to target those butt dimples.
Rodial Super Fit Size Zero, £65, is like the gym but sitting down. Who else here, doesn’t go to the gym? Not just me then. Good. Just as well Rodial have this toning moisturiser for your wobbly bits. Rub this on your body everyday and see the ‘orange peel’ dimples start to recede. We’ll take all of them. If this won’t fit your budget, Korres Mint Tea Body Lotion, £10, is a light and lifting scented body lotion that sinks in quickly and leaves you feeling like a fresh mojito.
Step 9: Love your hands
Hands need masks too. Hands need love too. Weak nails, brittle nails, flaky hands etc. aren’t cute. Don’t pretend. Hands go through a lot. They type, carry shopping, touch dirty Tube poles, make the dinner and everything else in between. They need love.
If you love a shower that smells like sweets any everything else that makes life good, you must know Lush. Lush’s Golden Handshake Hot Hand mask, £3.95, is perfect for neglected and sad hands. This is one of the best hand masks on the market. This is fantastic for skin that is susceptible to eczema too, btw. Creamy avocado oil, argan and castor oil create a fantastic glove of comfort for your hands. Either soak hands in warm water or massage on hands and rinse off.
I have weak nails and using Deborah Lippmann Cuticle Oil, £18, helps that. I’m ashamed. It takes me about six weeks to grow nails of any normal length but this cuticle oil has actually changed that for me in just three days. Full of jojoba and coconut oil, my nails repair faster, feel stronger and the oil doesn’t leave hands greasy.
Dior Abricot Nail Cream, £21, is chic. This is for those who love their nails to drip in swagoo. It’s a cream yes but it’s also going to strengthen nails, which will be perfect applied before one of my nail varnish picks. Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, £5.99, is the purse friendly option. Use this on fingernails and toenails for softer and more pampered tip and nail bed. Sunflower oil, cocoa butter and sweet almond oil will set your nails on the right path or try Lush Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter, £7.50. This isn’t just for fingernails, it’s for elbows and heels and knees and shoulders. The last one is a joke but then again you could try it. Stop nails from brittle hell – also those weird ridges am I right? What are those about? – and make your hands smell lemony fresh.
Step 10: Create a regime for 2018
There are so many skincare kits out there. Aesop, Skyn: Iceland and more have dedicated their time to helping your skin reach its best. Using one brand for all parts of your face and the different problems you… face will bring a sense of regiment to your skin and it will adapt.
Skyn: Iceland Detox Kit, £34, is one I would recommend. This kit is fabulous. 30 days of Icelandic wonder all over your face will give you one less thing to worry about because with everything else happening, why would you need skin problems? Follow the regime written on the bag and rest easy knowing that you will have calm, happy skin.
Aesop Amazing Care for Oily Skin Kit, £89, is ideal for gifts for oily skin loved ones. Not just for Christmas, this Aesop set will take your new, perfectly matte skin into the New Year and way beyond. Witch hazel, ylang ylang and lavender will strip oils, hydrate and finish it off with a lightweight serum that will give all day protection. Aesop Moisture Replenishment for dry skin is perfection. Take the parsley off your plate and rub it into your skin. OK we’re joking don’t do that but you can use the Parsley Seed toner in this amazing set that will fill your parched skin with fresh, natural products.
For Mario Badescu fans, the 50th Edition Drying Lotion and Facial Spray set, £32, will keep away those pesky white or blackheads, whilst keeping you fresh with rosewater facial spray, tonic face mask and their iconic enzyme cleansing gel. Alternatively, take yourself over to Neal’s Yard Remedies and read more about their skincare kits.
Lastly, we can’t overlook Clinique who have been pioneering skin kits since I was a teen. If you’re not ready to take the full plunge and part with your coins, try their introduction kits for a reasonable £20.
