good news: apparently i did use to be somewhat talkative and not quite as anxious to talk and interact ! i used to be able to carry conversations! not well or inawkwardly but very much plenty! i used to be able to talk and joke around without taking a million psychic damage just trying to send a message and even just saying whats on my mind carefree without being anxious that itll be weird or that they didnt want me to say that or that i didnt have to scramble for words or be unable to come up with quips or anything to reply other than just 'lol' or 'lmao'!! i feel like these days i only know how to talk and word things in a given or meme way aka all my vocabulary is just. tumblr memes.

bad news: holy fucking shit i was so cringe. like. on another level. on levels unimaginable. i was straight up just. weird. you know, horny preteen discovering sex jokes and crude language and sex humor for the first time? straight up had no filter, loved to ramble, except also had zero social sense still and rambled to a weird and overly and uncomfortable degree where it was just awkward and often said things that just. made the conversation weird? i embraced that weirdness and like, good on me i guess, but i think i just usually ended up saying things? blurting anything on my mind, that well. technically arent bad? or seriously fucked up or anything but just like. will probably haunt me for the rest of my life if i look at it now.

apparently i was just a giant nerd who read way too much smut and was just a little too unashamed and had very little sense of appropriateness which yeah i get given my age then its that. age of you know. just got exposed to people being vulgar, recently transitioned to high school from elementary, which is probably like. a way more. fucked up thing that people realize sometimes. cause in elementary i always thought i was still like you know. a little kid. but going into high school (which is younger than in US hs, at 12 y/o) youre suddenly treated or like, expected? to be older? more knowleadgeable? you know that thing about how kids these days are all trying to be adults now and how theres really no more media like the disney teenage live shows that separate little girl to grown lady? i think that jut like, hit me a lot in 7-8th grade + the introduction of nsfw shit and fandom and the internet (cause like. i did not have internet in elementary school, At All. and then suddenly in high school i was supposed to have a messenger account for school, i had a phone, i could use the laptop, i think i had a weird relationship w the internet then, cause at that point all my friends were already exploring facebook and posting etc, but i was so anxious and shy about that already that i just never started (which like, continues to today, i still dont use fb at all, cuase it feels so weird and awkward to start now when i was so adamant against not using it in the past) aaaand ive lost my train of thought and the point of this sentence

I kinda cursed myself by getting into Diablo, which I've written about before. Because Activision-Blizzard is a terrible company. They are horrible towards their employees first and foremost, and have been for decades. Especially their women workers, who have made credible allegations of a culture of misogyny. They have had a massive lawsuit about this in the 2020s but even Diablo II was made using horrible crunch back in the late 1990s.

Their treatment of their customers is of course a far lesser evil, they have just been assholes to them. Still just looking at the Diablo series, there are examples of pretty much all the bad practices triple-a game studios towards customers have made in the last 20 years.

Diablo III is infamously one of the first notable examples of always-online DRM, despite the game having a single-player campaign. Now the game servers have stayed up a remarkably long time for Diablo III, because it was widely succesful (the fourth best-selling pc game of all time according to wikipedia with 20 million copies sold). But requiring a central server to play will mean the game will eventually die when the server is shut down. And not “die” in the sense that you can’t buy it anymore or can’t play multiplayer, it will die in the sense that you can’t ever play it at all anymore. This is despite the game having a substantial single-player campaign. This is a terrible practice for game preservation and I encourage you to join this campaign against it.

And Diablo III also had a foretaste of the predatory monetization to come, with the infamous real money auction house, that was so bad that it got shut down by Blizzard after a few years. But it was just a prologue to what would come with the next major installment: Diablo Immortal.

Immortal is a mobile game that became a meme right from its announcement. That was because the announcement that it would be mobile-only was greeted with boos at Blizzcon. And we should keep in mind that Blizzcon is a convention just for Blizzard games that cost 199 dollars to attend at the time (now it costs 299 dollars), so a very receptive audience to Blizzard’s bullshit, and Blizzard still got deservedly booed.

And then the actual game released, and it had such predatory monetization that it got nicknamed Diablo Immoral. I use the site macrotransactions.org, which grades games according to the presence of predatory monetization and they gave Diablo: Immortal a well-deserved F.

And this trend has only continued with the recent Diablo IV, which is again always-online and has predatory microtransactions.

Not that Diablo II is free from Blizzard bullshit. Both the original and remastered versions of Diablo II can only be bought from Blizzard’s own website, which I wouldn’t begrudge them if they didn’t also have DRM.

The installer for the original Diablo II only requires a key code you either got from the CD or e-mailed to you when you purchased it digitally. So not so bad. The original Diablo II however kinda shows its age and has always been a janky game, despite patches it still has serious bugs like the lying character screen. And the game shows its ages otherwise, despite the excellent art design, the game is also resolution locked to 800 x 600, and that’s only after you install the expansion. And the base game plus expansion still costs 20 dollars, despite being more than 20 years old and not properly patched.

It’s the kind of game that deserves a remaster. And Blizzard thought the same and released a remastered version in 2021, Diablo II: Resurrected that attempts to fix these issues. But the catch is that it also upped the DRM, this time the game requires you to “check in” online at least every 30 days, so the remastered game is just as doomed as III and IV when the servers shut down.

You just can’t win with Activision-Blizzard. The only Diablo game that actually feels worth getting legitimately is the first Diablo, which you can buy drm-free on GOG, and reasonably cheap too when there is a sale.

And it’s not that the games are bad either. They have very talented programmers, writers and artists working for them (which they treat horribly). Diablo II despite the jankyness is a great game, a very good sequel to the excellent first game that massively expands the scope of the series in interesting ways while remaining true to the first game.

I recently watched Noah Caldwell-Gervais’s excellent franchise retrospective video on the series, and he has played all the games, and finds much to praise about even the most reviled entries of the series. Even Diablo: Immortal, despite being a mobile game with predatory monetization, is a full-fledged entry into the series, a proper meaty action RPG with lots of story content. We will actually lose something valuable when the servers are shutdown.

The problem with Blizzard is not that they make bad games. It’s just that they are an evil company, which mistreats its workers (especially the women), ruthlessly monetizes their artistic efforts, and DRMs so badly that it will eventually destroy the games entirely once they are no longer profitable.

At this rate I can at best recommend getting Diablo I from GOG when it’s cheap in a sale, anything else is too heavy with Blizzard’s nonsense to really recommend. And "gamer boycotts" are kinda worthless, so I won't call for one, but I'll admit supporting that kind of company is worth questioning.

And frankly if you want to get into action rpgs, I would recommend playing Torchlight 1 and 2 instead of getting into Diablo.The Torchlight games are very much “Diablo-clones”, spiritual successors to the older series and clearly modeled on Diablo 1 and 2. But the gameplay is so polished, with many added quality-of-life features and way less bugs than Diablo II, that they improve the player experience enough to fully justify being so derivative. And they are not made or published by Activision-Blizzard, so you can buy both of them on GOG without DRM. Torchlight deserves its own post, and there are other worthy diablo-clones out there (i’ve played a bit of Dungeon Siege and enjoyed it). The positive legacy of Diablo lives on, despite Blizzard’s best attempts to pollute it.

The Valkist party name originated from an alternative history mod called the Fuhrerreich for the game Hearts of Iron IV, a strategy wargame that focuses on World War II. In this game the player may take control of any nation in 1939 and lead them to victory or defeat against other countries. The Fuherreich was an alt history mod that built on top of a pre-existing alt history mod, the Kaiserreich mod which is very well established. The Fuhrerreich mod creates an alternative history for what is already alternative history and is a speculative scenario where people of the Kaiserreich universe (where Germany won the first world war) contemplate what a German loss in the First World War might have led to. In this mod the Valkist beliefs are essentially ‘diet fascism’, instead of following a race science they were Cultural Nationalists who believed their culture was superior to other cultures.

After the American Valkist Party manifesto was posted to the Fuherreich subreddit, the reaction was shock and confusion at seeing a name familiar to them break the boundaries of their game. A debate ensued as to if this ideology that originated from the mod now ‘existed’ and if it was serious with many who previously dismissed it as a troll now having second thoughts after reading through the manifesto. To the Fuherreich players coming into contact with a manifesto expanding on an ideology local to their game blurred the lines between alternative history, role play and the real world.

The American Valkist Party was setup by the leader of the Northwest American State, a political group that participated in the same Roblox spaces as the Valkist party. I can find very little out about this group beyond a few memes made, but it came to an end after being mass reported by the Fifth International, a leftist anti-fascist Roblox group (who’s wiki is linked here). They also operated in nUSA, A political role play group on Roblox based on the real-world USA. It’s one of the largest groups on Roblox with around a quarter of a million players and where much of the Valkist activity took place. Following the banning a new party and a new ideology was promised to be on the way by the ex-leader.

From this the American Valkist Party was born with a mass of activity in mid 2020. A mix of symbols associated with paganism and nationalism went alongside the use of Wojak memes and fashwave to craft a clear identity for the party. This followed its politics which at this point appeared to be largely similar to the ideology presented in the Fuherreich mod. Debates were held in private groups and in the public nUSA server rallies and marches took place brandishing Valkist flags and uniform in an effort to recruit.

Having a back catalogue of music such as the American Valkist Marching Song, a variation of a nationalist marching song, helped to cement the groups identity and legitimacy. To many who came across it this seemed like a political organisation and ideology that went far beyond moded alternative history and Roblox with some YouTube comments having a similar reaction to the Fuherreich subreddit and being unsure as to how ‘real’ this group was.

first, there is absolute no denying that homestuck is a very flawed comic with many problems & poorly aged things, & disliking it due 2 these flaws is valid & u can also like undertale/deltarune while being this

but theres also a lot of misinfo spreading around bout the comic & ppl acting like its completely irredeemable, which is bullshit af.

Yeah, it's crazy there. You probably have seen me there too. The comic could have been better. It's not as great as it used to be. Doesn't help that Andrew Hussie and current WhatPumpkin are not great people or company. The history they had done with the series, whether one believes in the controversies with Hussie blowing the 2 million dollar Kickstarter money, Kate Mitchell, them suing Sarah Z...how soured the fandom a lot throughout the years. Even after we got the Requiem Cafe collab, there's still the bitter taste. It gets so irritating to see the whole Gamzee and Meenah are racist caricatures and other similar crap. I don't mind if people hate Homestuck. Whether it be serious or meme without reading the comic. It's fine. I am kind of jaded because of the former shit that happened. There are better series out there to read. If anyone wants to even read something Hussie made, it would always be something like Problem Sleuth or Whistles The Starlight Calliope. Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff is even better than Homestuck. I still push Toby Fox in front and center because he shows what Hussie and Homestuck could have been, but it all came crashing down that it fades to nothing. Even now, the new generation knows that Friday Night Funkin broke Newgrounds because of Week 7 compared to Homestuck's [S] Cascade.

How i feel about their canonical writing/handling

how... do i not spoil things. u have to have patience with his writing. i promise he is more than like.. manic pixie leftist cop boy. u just have to have patience. boy wears his heart on his sleeve. but also he has a bunch of plastic wrap around it. u can see his heart it is the textbook definition of on his sleeve. but it is obscured and u cannot reach it. every day before i sleep i get on my knees and pray that people have faith in his writing and don't think the way he's written is cringefail.

The one thing i’d want to make canon about them

i cant remember if this factoid has come up but i dont think it has in any posts. tsu's hair is like.... really choppy, if u brushed it out/took a straightener to it to get it all flat, you'd see its alll different lengths. bc he tends to get twigs and sticks and the like stuck in there and just. cuts hair off/"oh this bit is too long! *snip*" a lot. that being said it looks oddly intentional/u cant tell its a million different lengths with how he styles it. he will cry if anyone tries to drag him to a hair stylist.

not to keep sinking into a monster high shaped hole or to bring that wednesday series topic again but yknow since i had to see dull memes about the avatar sequel stuff guess this is my revenge

anyway. millar and gough who are the actual showrunners of the netflix wednesday show, not tim burton, and who wrote and produced the series, also produced and wrote the monster high movie so many people were pissed off by at first and slowly, i think? they came around to. and i find this interesting bc these are two franchises/properties which i see a lot of similarities between but that in the end i feel like should be treated as different things bc of their respective tone and general audience.

monster high in general is meant for younger kids especially now that it has softened its image to relatable instead of aspirational, which to me is fascinating from a marketing toy line perspective. the addams family was alwys meant as skewing older. i really assumed that the series would be about riverdale/teen wolf/supernatural level horror/suspense/adult content, and having a meaner edge and really much darker humor. in the end bc of the need to have stakes in the netflix series a lot of the humor was softened in a way that it doesnt really appeal to me/becomes a character quirk of wednesday instead of something that its normal inside this universe, the sort of casual cruelty and cartoon logic of the 90s comedy movies cant apply when you also have to be worried about characters dying tragic deaths and there are harry potter-esque mysteries and drama going on. that change in tone to me was what really killed it, it took away what made the addams interesting and left it at a level in which it was purely aesthetic surface. im not saying its completely unenjoyable, after all it has millions of fans who seem to vibe with it. im just saying that it doesnt really carry the spirit or the tone of the 90s movies, or even the 60s tv series, which was more focused on comedy overall and was much better at it.

with monster high the movie though, i think the gothic magical high school mystery works much better since it already has a few animated movies that have that sort of tone. the franchise itself works with issues of adolescence and therefore identity, self-acceptance and friendship (issues that the wednesday series wants to give to the protagonist, to varying degrees of success). and i find it really interesting that ive seen so many posts that say something like "oh the outfits are so bad, the fashions all wrong, why didnt they get actual cosplayers", etc. i dont expect everyone to know this but tv movie budgets, especially channels like nickelodeon or disney channel or the like, are pretty small even compared to streaming movie budgets. they usually recycle sets and costumes from other series by the same production company/costume company in the area, and between preproduction and shooting there is barely any time or budget for customized pieces. this isnt an excuse as much as reasoning. and apart from that there is also the nature of the new generation which is more focused on relatability and being appealing to a wider demographic than the first generation, which was more aimed at shocking and calling attention to itself. in that sense im kinda happy with what they went with, the clothes looks kinda cheap but it also looks like what kids in the 14-15 year range would believably wear to look cool and that remains accessible while also being fashionably easy to identify and distinguish themselves and their tastes. the actors are all Very Much covered in makeup and wigs but there is a difference in the styling of the generation 1 dolls/fanart/restylings that make them look much much older, and that would probably spark more controversy that mattel might not be super keen on rn. so unless they literally went the riverdale route of hiring actors in their mid to late twenties to portray fourteen year olds, dress them in miniskirts and risk losing that 8 to 11 year old audience to upset parents, what we ended up with is next to the best we could have hoped for.

apart from that, what im most curious about is how they will touch upon the issue of the two worlds in conflict, monsters and humans. the wednesday series didnt quite work it out in a way im satisfied with, partly bc of burtons and burton properties' own difficulty applying crítical thought to the very concept of "outcast" and marginalization, and partly bc of a tendency of wanting to apply allegories and analogies to these matters. you want to create meaningful comparisons to real feelings of alienation to emotionally appeal to the audience. but also you as a writer have no real experience reading about real actual marginalized identities and just have a general idea that things were bad and people are angry and people protest about it and also that the Teens™ are complaining in social media using new terms you can stick in the mouths of your characters. in that sense monster high's aim at the younger audience saves them from embarrassing themselves too much, which i cant say the same for wednesday (or the winx netflix series, and a bunch of other teen-aimed media, for that matter). so what remains for the monster high franchise is to figure out how to properly handle something like the idea of the two worlds of humans and monsters needing to find some common ground (something i think its really cool in the way it could be sparked by clawdeens new status as a werewolf being half human half wolf), though its the sort of thing that the writers of future iterations should be careful about and really just not be afraid to shake things up a bit and defy their own narrative status quo. like not be scared to have characters like claire the goth girl from that one animated movie, or the jekyll/hyde kid that was also technically half "normie", to explore further aspects to the idea of identity and marginalization that have a much more appropriate home in something like monster high.

ok so initially i interpreted this question as like 'a character you hate as a character' but then i realized i dont hate any of the cars characters... but i do hate some of them as people. so, im going with Sterling! great character, would hate him if i met him XD 1.) yes he bought rusteze for the merchandising opportunity, but the fact that he still wants to race a car and keep the team going proves hes not just talk. 2.) his design. exactly how a jackass billionaire salesman would look. so stylish, would not touch with a 15 foot pole tho! 3.) i think about this all the time but he probably made mad profit in that sale to tex. sure, sterling sunk a lot of money into the racing team, but theres no way he lost any equity flipping the sale within a few months. dude won that gamble big time. he probably lost out in the long run in terms of profits but he made at least several hundred million in a very short time period. he would be good at hypixel skyblock.

ive been more than transparent (probably too transparent tbh) on here as well as my Instagram for many many years about my mental health issues + physical health issues. all of my conditions/disorders are chronic conditions that i have to live & deal w for the rest of my life.. so things like 4eva tryna find the right treatments for EVERY condition, spending thousands on operations, doctors, specialists, hospitals, medications that don’t work or give you awful side effects, meds that do work but cost hundreds, meds that are addicting with no warning from the doctors ect ect but the biggest thing of all is simply just tryna function each day like a normal human being whilst being in a very toxic environment with zero support, love or care from those who are supposed to nurture & protect you. so yeah sometimes i do get fucking angry, frustrated n upset about that shit n just wanna rant on here about my feelings. there are certain things i share on here wen i hav no one else 2talk too.. im an only child & hav gone thru sm shit with past ‘friends’ & exs in such a short amount of time i could truly write a whole book or movie script on it all. but instead i write things on here. it made me go absolutely crazy then turn into a total paranoid recluse. it was a soul destroying experience but one of the most powerful life lessons to be able to learn. it made me who i am today n changed me completely.

BUT- n real life tho.. you really do not know my situation.. you do not know me.. & you do not know what i deal with on a daily fucking basis. id love to see u try n live even jus a day as me irl...u would 100% neck urself before the day was even over. im not stupid.. i research everything when it comes to my conditions & diagnosis’s. i also studied psychology & did a major in forensic psychology while doing a bachelor of law & justice. ive studied the DSM-5, done every kind of therapy & treatment plan you can imagine. ive been in treatment since i was like 11/12. i understand myself very well. the mental health conditions that i have are a direct result of childhood trauma & several kinds of abuse by my parents from childhood all the way up to now.. if u are that interested in me & my life then perhaps u should google all of those conditions & do some research on them to gain a better understanding of the hows, why’s & whats. that’s called knowledge baby, u should gain some🖤 & perhaps u should consider going straight to the actual source… whatever it is u wanna know, just ask me.

make no mistake i am not saying this to defend him or what he did by any means, it's not about him specifically

but hbomb made this video to portray james as a symptom of a much wider problem. it's why he wasn't the ONLY person in it, he just stood out because he was the most egregious offender there. and instead of kind of broadly taking a step back and examining what it means to give proper credit in transformative work, it feels like people just glommed onto the idea of james as the cartoon villain for everyone to laugh at. and tbh to clout chase with.

ive seen COUNTLESS youtubers of all popularity levels jumping into the fray to ride the wave of interest to boost engagement. TONS of drama channels -- a lowbrow genre that hbomb specifically calls out in the same video -- leeching it for views ever since the initial video dropped and being successful in the THOUSANDS, probably millions of views total across all these channels. comic artists making jokes about somerton's hairstyle or clothes, memes about his appearance or his specific plagiarism tactics, passing around new videos adding to the "drama" and running to post about them when they drop.

and it's like. that's not what this was about lol. hbomb's video wasn't a james somerton hit piece, it was a hit piece on plagiarism with james somerton just being the biggest example of what he was discussing. and it's just become James Somerton the Internet Main Character. to a lesser extent there have been smaller discussions about internet historian bc he has a big loyal fanbase. i imagine if the illuminaughtii drama hadnt been playing out for nearly a full year now that she would have been a much bigger player in the blowback.

and i get it. we can walk and chew gum at the same time. but like.....what is the proportion of actual meaningful discussions about what we can learn from hbomb's actual THESIS versus the endless joking and beating of the mostly dead james somerton horse. it just feels so representative of the way we (myself included) crave drama and entertainment over actual introspection, even when introspection is what the source material is asking us to do. ive seen a lot of youtubers eager to ride the wave, but not nearly as many who seem to be redressing their own work in light of the very enlightening info hbomb brought out.

When they're caught in the attic Allison, being number 3 and not feeling like she has to be the responsible one, had coerced Luther to break the rules for once in his life and have some fun (she brought some of her magazines and told him about her celebrity crushes)

He grew to be overprotective of her but in that responsible older brother kind of way, cause lbr thats what he feels he is as number one

When he got hurt and turned into monkey man she was there for him because ppl dont care as much if their best friend see them as a monster and she eventually convinced him to leave the umbrella academy because of it

He was her uhhhh best man of honour at the wedding (listen idk how weddings work) and she made him Claires godfather

Luther got a job as a bodyguard after leaving, and is very very good at it

When dear old daddy dies, Luther suspects Diego and doesn't believe Allisons protests because "he's a vigilante and is exhibiting suspicious behaviour, this is the kind of stuff we learn about on the job trust me it was him" so she calls him an idiot and he pulls the leader card, because the moment he steps back into that house Reggies influence is over him again

She gets mad at him and gets herself involved in Vanyas love life

He does feel bad about it though, and like maybe he should listen to her, but he doesn't want dads ghost to see him being weak because he's still afraid of him, because he hasn't been away from the house for long enough

Both Allison and Vanya have gone through extensive therapy after leaving. Diego went to therapy when he was with Patch to make her happy, Klaus' therapy is his escapism obviously, and Allison tries to force Luther to go but hes too scared, whenever the topic comes up he disappears into his work for a while

(When he resurfaces she calls him an idiot and avoids the topic for a while, cause she misses her best friend whenever it happens)

Instead of looking for the moon correspondence (cause he never went to the moon) Luther looks for anything that could give them a clue on the apocalypse in Reggies files and finds documents of fake/modified missions that he was sent on to keep him busy and on form in preparation for the apocalypse, including the mission that nearly cost him his life, and he has a breakdown over the fact that his fathers lies made him what he is, and that he couldve had a normal life if he'd just left with the others

Allison finds him absolutely broken and takes him up to her room where she puts on their favourite mixtape from childhood and paints his fingernails bright colours "Just like i did with Klaus when we were kids! You know, I caught him stealing my make up once and I was gonna get mad but he looked so embarrassed and ashamed that I just gave him some of the stuff I wasnt using anyway. After that, I painted his nails every time he asked me to"

Allison treating him like a person, like her best friend, teasing him and joking with him cheers him up and by the time she has to leave for her flight he's calm but he still looks very lost so she invites him to come see Claire "The few times I've gotten to speak to her she's always asked about uncle Luther"

When he gets absolutely shitfaced and gets laid and she finds out about it she's beaming because he's worried and cried at her for years that no one will love him because of the way he is

she does also punch him because he didnt tell her earlier, "You were hurt!! I had more important things to think about!"

He does still lock Vanya up but Allison gestures up such an angry storm that he lets her try to open it, only she cant because she's still too weak from the wound

She storms off to her room when he refuses to open it for her, and he doesnt dare follow

When Vanya destroys the academy he cant look at her without getting a furious look of "I told you so, idiot" back

The phone call scene has a couple more insults from Allison to Luther sprinkled into it

He apologizes for not listening to her and being wrong about locking up their sister but he's also spent his entire childhood taking leadership lessons from dad and he's just never gonna learn that listening to her is smarter than listening to what their dad taught them

She hits him on various parts of his head and torso with her notebook when she's annoyed

Luther googles furries when he's drinking his hangover coffee the morning after he got laid

the series is set in endverse, it picks up right where dean goes back to his timeline in 5x04. end!dean is dead in the garden, lucifer won And cas is the only survivor of the mission in kansas. but hey get this. dean from the canon timeline appears again except for him it’s been 3 years since he was here last… as you can imagine shenanigans occur

now a big reason people aren’t regular and normal and chill about this fic is the fact that it’s 1.2 million words long. but don’t let this intimidate you, when you start reading every word will be worth it<3

this is dumb but ive been haunted by the new warriors maps are like marvel movies post, im curious abt if theres any that suck in particular gfdjkgdf

*sits down* if any warriors fans decide to come after me know that i am not a kind person let’s get that out of the way. ok so anyway i don’t have like, specific examples of maps being bad (except for the racist ‘island scourge’ map that came out recently LAWL) but it’s the general culture of every single map having the same set of ultra talented artists all imitating the same style and just going for the ultra cinematographic look with the most complex animation and lighting and angles. and if you sit down and watch it, yeah it looks cool. and then you realize every single one looks like that. there’s also way more gimmicky maps nowadays because the aesthetic counts more than the actual substance just take a look at the one million horror maps LOL. it’s such a focus on a flashy and entertaining look that there is no emotional heart..

i mean if you take a look at older (5ish years) maps you really see the difference (you, the valley, meet me in the woods, buy the stars, etc) because yes they’re less professional but oh my god do they stick with you. everyone has different styles there aren’t set cohesive designs for every single background character and background for uniformity and theres actual emotion being portrayed.

a few more things below the cut cuz this is long and i have a lot of thoughts lol.

also last year i was involved in the animation community for some low/mid level projects and it is such a terrible culture.. all my closest freinds with such cool styles and ideas all ended up dropping out of the scene because of the tight timeframes, extreme expectations, and inability for any actual artistic creativity for their OWN ANIMATIONS. also i was like old enough to be like ‘this sucks lol i quit’ but so many people there are 12-15 which fucking sucks . there’s such a focus on prescription MAP parts and animation memes and hopping on the newest trend that it leaves no space for working on personal projects you actually want to do, and when you publish them they get way less views than the trends. this is not me being bitter about anything most of my videos are unlisted for a reason but across the book my freinds would get thousands of views on a lazy animation meme and then post an amv they’d worked on for MONTHS and get maybe a hundred views tops.

also another thing that fucking sucks is you literally have kids worshiping popular animators like they’re the fucking golden calf.. ‘popular’ animators in like 2015 would rarely share social media outside youtube and just posted their projects and left but now every big animator has a personal discord server and twitter and hundreds of thousands of subscribers and kids think they are personal friends with the creators (who encourage this!!) and it turns out a lot of them are not great people lol. anyway the point is if you want good content u either watch it from years ago or look for someone with like 50 subscribers because that’s where the gold is. also the orginal post made my molly my freind molly got deleted cuz it got reblogged by a huge animator who started shit and then all of their followers started shit so -_- proving everyone’s point.
