New icon, since I looked up and realized I never changed it from Christmas, haha. I’m also trying to grow my hair out for the first time in nine years, so that’s also reason to change it. I felt happy about this drawing at first, and then took a pic of it to post it on here and suddenly started overthinking it and felt like it wasn’t good enough, like I’m not good enough at drawing to show people or post this, it doesn’t look enough like me, what even am I doing with my art, etc. It was kind of a bummer moment. I’ve been having a lot of those with my art recently, feeling inadequate or so far behind everyone else, especially because I haven’t really been doing very well with drawing regularly, and being rejected from art programs (even years ago) tends to add to my feelings of inadequacy. It’s hard to say you’re an artist when you haven’t drawn anything good in months. But that doesn’t mean I should give up!! I decided to post this, purposefully knowing that it wasn’t the greatest, that there were mistakes in it, that I could do better. And so I WILL do better. “Sucking at something is the first step to being sorta good at something.” So. I suck at this right now. But I am still an artist, and I am going to keep chipping away at this art thing until I am satisfied with it.
