That man decided to craft robots in his spare time. Why have I not seen steampunk Gortash yet, actually, does he exist somewhere in the far corners that I have yet to reach? Please tell me he exists somewhere.

Real and it pisses me off badly.

Incredibly fun world-building, a story so engaging fans fight over it, talented devs who love the studio and actually understand what makes single-player RPGs special, a GOTY win under the belt, tons of supplementary media + merch sales, iconic characters, and still a troubled development every single time. I hate it so much, I hate those that contributed to it, I hate how common this all is.

But I'm proud of everyone who did what they could with what they had. Even the few folks who drive me insane out of my mind ballistic sicko-mode. Because at the end of the day: they fought for DA. They really did. Which is more than I wouldve done in their shoes. One (1) disparaging comment about a project I'm devoting 40+ fucking hours a week to and I would've crashed out big time.

see, even the people willing to admit that totk is very flawed usually mention how its the writing thats the problem but the gameplay is great, and while the writing is a big problem ... i also dont think the gameplay is that good, theres some impressive mechanics here and there but they also dont work at all in that game world bc it was simply not made for that ON TOP off somehow both overusing and underusing them- good ideas badly excuted- simply .. insultingly little thought put behind alot of things, sometimes feeling like its intentionally made to point and laugh at you if you cared about botw at all

i am mad about this game on so many levels, as a zelda fan, as a botw fan, as someone interested in game design and developed, as a writer, as an artist etc and it somehow manages to kinda .. piss me off on everything, thats honestly the most impressive thing about this game, game made specifically to piss me off, fuck me in particular game

..anyway, started to write another rant about its mechanics again but deleted it to keep it short .. shorter since i originally just wanted to ask .. if theres anyone that would want to proof/test-read a likely really long totk rant script for that rant video i might want to make, or at least try to- i keep putting it off bc i feel like i gotta finish the rewrite first and then doubt if anyone would even be interested, it WILL take alot of time and its not something very postable etc etc

it hits him all at once.

bakugo goes back into the field after eight months of paternity leave and instead of the pumping in his veins, all he feels is fear―unlike anything he's ever felt before.

it rings deep in his bones, crawls up his spine and into the back of his head; it rattles around his heartbeat. he didn't feel this at 15, with no pulse, near death with blood splattered all over his chest.

yet here he is now, at 35, standing face-to-face with a villain not any larger than he is. there's no real threat besides the explosives strapped to the pillars of this evacuated building; the worst that could happen is that the entire structure could collapse if they're set off.

―which, he can avoid; could hightail out of the area using cluster easily. but the pressure feels bigger somehow, the possibility of a failure weighs heavier. his first thought is you and the baby. his little family.

"you should start going back to the field," you whispered one night, your arms wrapped around his waist as he cradled his little girl to sleep.

he'd wanted to take the whole year off, just until she would start walking. just until you were more rested. settled.

but, you know bakugo and what makes him who he is, you know being a hero is more than just his job; how he misses the thrill of it, sneaking looks at his phone every time he hears anything from the news.

so he's here now, a few months too early, and it terrifies him―how he doesn't feel the same way he used to. it's paralyzing; one wrong move, one reckless mistake and it could all be over.

there's so much more to lose.

wasnt nintendo all like "totk costing 70 currency is an outlier and wont be the norm uwu" when the game was new or did i fall for people just saying that and not fact checking it myself? hrm interesting how that turned out if true.

(extra funny considering how i cannot for the life of me see or find a reason why that game would cost that much either, given how much is recycled and the overall quality of content and writing being all pretty embarassing)

sorry okay i've ranted about this on twt before but phi's role in ztd is just... odd to me. the reveal with her being related to delta (and also sigma and diana) is placed as one of the biggest ones like literally one of the reveals that delta says during final decision is phi's status as a double clone. and i do like her having a fucked up existence being a living paradox and being not meant to exist and all that. its fukcing interesting and i love it and talk about it a lot. but it's also just. for someone who's positioned as one of the most important characters to the plot as to WHY a lot of things happen she's also.... barely in the game? she's basically just in the game to be dead or To Be Born which is like. okay. something could be said about her lack of agency in everything but it ISNT said so like? and plus her not being there for that much of it takes away a bit of the weight of the reveal imo. like it's not as powerful if she had a bit more development/screentime to justify it and have a good payoff in my opinion i think. clearly im abnormal about phi so it was crazy for ME but it's just. i don't know. even for me it doesnt feel strong without that. from a writing perspective it makes a bit more sense to put the weight of a reveal as great as that on a character who already got substantial development or buildup to justify it. the most i CAN say is the existence of the fire fragment because that part is genuinely one of my favorite parts of the game (and also the flashback with phi and diana @ dcom) but it jsut. i don't know!

i've always thought and interpreted from her dialogue in both games that she's got a really weird sense of identity (calls herself "not a normal human being" in ztd, compares herself to a variable or an x-factor in vlr, also seems to believe diana and sigma's lives are worth more than hers) which could be interesting!!! and how her existing situation with her parents is when combined with the NEW information - did they keep the fact that she was an experiment as an infant from her for her entire life? like it couldve been INTERESTING. and still kinda is imo but it's just a weird writing decision to write her out of so much of the plot while ALSO wanitng her to be important at the same time. id ont know if this makes any sense to anyone but its just like. Okay? Sure?
