I will never ever forgive SVTFOE for making the follow up to their most tense, dramatic, world-shattering, stakes-building, emotionally-heightening episode that ended the arc of the entire show’s story thus far and ended with the defeat of the main villain, an episode about Star wanting to smell Marco’s stinky, dirty hoodie and preventing it from being washed so she could continue to do so.

its funny bc i was JUST talking about this recently, but i dont like pet names at all BAHAH, hence why seb and clora dont call each other anything, not even nicknames.... seb calls her the light/princess/a bird sometimes as playful and teasing jokes, but doesnt actually address her like that. and clora always calls sebastian by his full name as well, bc i was basing her dialogue/my writing off the game dialogue...bc for as close as anne and ominis are to seb, both of THEM call him sebastian in full, so maybe it was a victorian thing that nicknames werent really common? plus clora's so proper that it just feels like its in her personality to always call seb "sebastian"... i feel like if she ever DID call him "seb" he'd do a double take and be like ...HUH? who are you???......are you polyjuiced? LMAO. i do imagine seb calling clora "love" when they get older tho (not in hogwarts) bc i like how simple it is, and imagining him saying stuff like 'careful, love' makes me🫠🫠🫠🫠

aw TYY💖💖 honestly i didnt give the victorian setting TOO much thought, other than making clora more modest/not used to wearing trousers etc. like the actual victorian courting process was that youd ALWAYS be chaperoned by at least 1 other person and you wouldnt be able to kiss or anything, so the fact that our mcs are in a co-ed school with free reign already ruins that, so i wouldnt worry too much about it. a lot of it you can just wave off with the excuse that wizard society is more advanced than muggle society, which is true anyway LOL. i just kept the parts that i thought were fun/made it feel victorian ENOUGH but got rid of the stuff that was too annoying (one big example being the amount of clothing they wear....i said it in the notes for one of my chapters, but i wasnt about to make seb go through like 5 different layers just to touch cloras titty LMFAO) and no i didnt have 1 specific website i used, id just google "blank in victorian times" and look through all the articles and resources i could on that subject, and take little bits of it. SO YEA i wouldnt worry about it too much, just take what you want if you think it could enrich your story, and leave stuff out if its annoying to deal with BHAHA. and GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR WRITING!!💖💖

BAHAHA yeah sebs bark was defs bigger than his bite when it came to actually having kids/getting clora pregnant LOL. he defs loves the pregnancy part, but i feel like seeing her go through the actual labour was super hard on him/made him feel guilty bc he hates to see her in pain, let alone bc of HIM. not to mention that i imagine he would still work even once they have kids, so to leave clora with like 6 kids by herself isnt something he would have wanted to do LOL. once both lewis and celeste are in hogwarts tho i actually imagine seb and clora still doing curse breaking as well (albeit less dangerous jobs/not as far away) BUT YES having a third kid that looks like seb and is sassy like anne would be SO CUTEEE...a happy accident is a good idea too, tho i kinda like the idea of it being cloras idea.....like, she gets baby fever again now that the kids are kinda growing up and sebs like no i dont wanna put u through that again... but obvs seb wouldnt be able to resist if clora was begging seb to put a baby in her LMFAOOO its already as good as done at that point😇😇 AND THANK YOU, and im glad you liked it!!!🥹💖💖💖

Ok, bring it on anon.

So, the first thing to ask yourself when starting a comic, as I see it, is what type of board are you dealing with. Webtoon? A4 pages? 4 panels? There are many ways to go about it, and each involves different processes. For example, pages will allow for more superfluous scenes, whereas the webtoon format has to be super succinct because of the reading direction. I personally think that's the main reason I do pages, among other advantages: •narrative density •variety •Tumblr-friendly format

There are quite a few disadvantages too but you have to go through the process of trials and errors to really find out what suits you best!

Then there's the ambition of the sequence you're boarding for. And it goes from 1. how used I am to boarding this kind of sequence/drawing these characters/setting and backgrounds, to 2. is it an emotional sequence? Dialogue-heavy? Or more contemplative?

It changes the way you work and how you should approach your board! For example, in TMS, the very wordy chapters (4 and 5 for ex) generally called for simple and narrow framing. Of course, you don't want to bore the reader so you can spice things up to match the characters mood and reactions once in a while, but you have to bear in mind that the sequence aims to provide dialogue and information = the text bubbles are key and WILL take a lot of place. So let them.

( then again, it's all about pacing and balance. A page full of dialogue and one with too much happening are equally hard to read and boring to do)

On the other hand, parts 7 and 8 are all about action and atmosphere! This makes for wider and more varied shots!

They're fighting, things are going fast so why not use a single line to show many actions! They're still basically squares and rectangles but the pacing is totally different!

Or why not give the action a full page to really show its sheer impact

You can also split things, with a zoom or small time gap, depending on if it's a gag or if you want to put the focus on a reaction. Here, the asymmetry helps reinforce the unstable, jerky aspect of the scene. The situation is getting out of hand, and visually, the pages are affected too.

Now, these are case-by-case examples. And I never work on my pages separately.

For context, this-

-is the "first" board I did for part 8.

The drawings are very small and frankly difficult to make out, but the intention is what matters at this point lol I have the script (very important) next to my canvas, and I scribble the pages one after the ither. This allows me to see if the actions flow well, if the compositions are varied and also whether certain passages are too long or too short in regard to their importance. Which scenes can be merged? Removed? Toned down or if they deserve more bite?

This is a really fun and creative part but, I'll say it again, made a lot easier with a solid scipt. And I'm talking about a text document with clearly defined dialogues (or at least outlines) and actions.

I can't really explain how to write a script, it really depends on your work flow and how confortable you are with writing, but it's too important to just rush through it. No matter how much it changes before, during or after your finish boarding (cuz you gotta break your own rules sometimes and you'll often realize some things don't work as well once you put them on paper/sometimes art block can be resolved by writing the scene and just taking the time to imagine) but it's still your one guideline.

Aaaand, that's about it.

Other than that, I can only highly recommend reading lots of comics, Webtoon, books, watching movies, paintings, illustrations, animatics or listening to music, to inspire you and expand your own "personal library of references". Professional or not, anything your find inspiring and well executed. Boarding is at its core, telling stories. No art skill involved, just pure subjectivity. At the end of the day, it's all about squares, rectangles and bubbles so you gotta work on your creativity. The rest is gut feeling!

Constantly ask yourself how to tell this story, and how you want to tell it. How this sequence should be perceived? What do you need to show to make pages and pages of words appealing and interesting.

Be patient, be bold. Start with easy stuff to get some confidence if you need to. Accept that "boring" pages are smt necessary and that it's up to you to build up tension for a scene to really pop. Try new ideas and be ready to scrap many of them, the result will be worth all the work!

Now, concerning the "fast" part, I'm flattered but I personally think I'm super slow xD You prbly get that impression bc I finish the whole chapter before posting it, but behind the scene, I'm just working at a very regular pace.

the only game i can think of that i played for the artstyle is tf2, just bc it was something more interesting to look at than the grey-browns of most shooters in that era. there have been a lot of games ive played whose visuals have been a huge part of the experience, but its never been a deciding factor tbh

unstructured twilight princess ranting under the cut

my childhood experience w tp was slogging thru the hour-long tutorial then giving up the 2nd time i was told to hunt bugs, so i dont have the nostalgia a lot of ppl have, but ive replayed it since

the story is all over the place and has no cohesion. at one point, princess zelda sacrifices her life for another character and turns into light, but then she just shows up again at the end w no explanation like they just forgot that happened. they try to turn zant into a joke, which couldve landed if this game didnt take itself so seriously the rest of the time, then just swap him out w ganondorf once again. and anyone whos played the game will know what im talking about when i mention That Cutscene, which is just a mishmash of nonsense spooky imagery that has no relevance to the rest of the game. the whole game feels like just a bunch of ideas they threw together w/o thinking about an interconnected narrative

ppl act like tp was the pinnacle of zelda storytelling, hold it up as an example of why linear narrative works in zelda, but it just looks superficially like a good story as long as u dont engage w the themes or try to make sense of the plot

and the visuals all look awful too, especially the side characters, which just makes it harder to care about them. which is unfortunate bc a lot of the story beats rely heavily on the player caring about these ugly, ugly children

On chapter 22 of Chevalier's Romantic route (aka about to finish the route as a whole), so im going to give some notes, as a sort of review. I may at some point make a youtube video actually reviewing all of the route (as well as my process making the rewrite), but for now this is what you get

Their first interaction is awful. That hasn't changed at all from my first review at least.

The following interactions are also very bad since Emma is, you know, deadly afraid of him. But I like seeing Emma being encouraged by Clavis to challenge him.

Gotta be honest, Clavis is the biggest highlight in this route, every time he appears it just makes me love him more (yes, i am biased, why do you ask?)

Cheva's actions and the justification for those are sometimes just... so dumb. Prime example is the ball when he just... humiliates a 17 year old and her father and proceeds to justify it by saying that "they ended the conversation" and didn't let him finish. Like bish, u /srs or /j, i hope its the latter.

The "you are a person" bullshit. Ho-ly crap, Emma you don't need to "fix him", my gods.

Speaking of Emma, I got really mad at her not actually reading the covenant?? Like, I would get it if it happened in other routes, but with Chevalier?? Girl, if you mean to actually give a shit, do things that actually SHOW that you give a shit. Show Chevalier that you actually care about choosing a king (the son of a bitch has been telling you that the belle tradition makes no sense to him, and that he would become king either way, show him that he cannot talk to you like that), and show me, who already knows you're going to end up toghether, that you are fit to become a queen. Training? Sure, that's important, but you are responsible for a whole ass country, PLEASE give me a sign that you have some qualities at least, I beg of you.

On that note, dont you dare tell me that Chevalier never said that Belle (position) was useless from the very begining, i absolutely do not buy it.

Gotta be honest, Chapter 14 (the battle in the village) has to be one of my favourites of this route. Emma realizing that THIS is war, that THIS is King Chevalier's future, is absolutely magnificent. Splendid turning point.

What a shame the conflict is resolved in the WORST WAY POSSIBLE LITERALLY FOUR CHAPTERS LATER, OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT JUSTIFICATION. "I remember the names of those who proved their worth to me" AND????? HOW DOES THAT EXPLAIN WHAT YOU CAUSED??????

The sword to the throat scene was very good tho. Very nice.

The dramatic route was good. Not perfect, I abhor how the clause 99 issue was handled, but other than that not bad.

Also Clavis being in love with Emma in this ending 😙🤌 Sublime, their chemistry was top tier (either that or im a simple simp, which yeah, true, I love my purple leopard)

As for the romantic route, as far as I've read its pretty good. Im not a huge fan of Rio as a secondary love interest, but it makes sense, and I like how he (finally) accepts that Emma is in love with Chev and he reciprocates those feelings, and is willing to stand back and let them be happy (if only Chev himself will admit it)

ALSO THE STAB?!?!??! THE WAY MY MOUTH DROPPED, I PREDICTED SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPENING BUT I WAS SO SHOCKED.

Overall, it wasn't as bad as I remembered it to be. Still bad, VERY bad at points, but I grew an appreciation for it.

laurent is a good person - book 1 meta

one of the most amazing things about captive prince is how the reveals in book 3 recontextualize all of the scenes leading up to them, including about laurent himself. in book one, all we see is damen pov as he’s being abused and humiliated by this supposedly spoiled, vile ice prince. when the regent comes to damen and subtly (and not so subtly) insults laurent, calling him unfit to rule - well, why would he think anything different? laurent has insulted him, had him whipped within an inch of his life, and even attempted to (and later successfully lmfao) have him raped while drugged out of his mind. 

after book 3 we can reread most if not all of book 1 as a very traumatized boy who has finally been confronted with the man who killed his brother, leaving him alone with his abusive uncle, and who he clearly has made into a complete monster in his own mind. damen of course sees him as a complete bitch, but there’s textual/subtextual evidence that laurent is well liked, and that his behavior during book 1 was actually pretty out of character for him. i’d like to provide some examples of that now!!!!

“Laurent had stopped dead the moment he had seen Damen, his face turning white as though in reaction to a slap, or an insult. Damen’s view, half-truncated by the short chain at this neck, had been enough to see that. But Laurent’s expression had shuttered quickly.” Captive Prince, Chapter One

i couldn’t resist adding this one in hehe. laurent recognizes damen!! he’s come down, knowing his uncle has devised another truly horrendous and triggering “gift” and that he’ll lose support if he calls it our for what it truly is, only to find out that it’s fucking damianos of akielos sent to him as a sex slave. a jab at laurent’s trauma about auguste and also a jab at laurent’s frigid sexuality - which ofc is completely the regent’s fault. fuck that guy so much lmfao 

“‘It’s so rare to see you at these entertainments, Your Highness,’ said Vannes.” Captive Prince, Chapter Two.

this is right before the fight between govart and damen in the ring, of course. damen sees laurent as depraved and vile as the sexual sadism on display by the veretian court, and considers him to be a willing purveyor of it. this is wrong, of course, as said by vannes here. laurent has only shown up because he wants to humiliate damen lmfao.

“He did remember being supported by two of the guards, here, in this room, while Radel stared athis back in horror. ‘The Prince really . . . did this.’ ‘Who else?’ Damen said. Radel had stepped forward, and slapped Damen across the face; it was a hard slap, and the man wore three rings on each finger. ‘What did you do to him?’ Radel demanded.” Captive Prince, Chapter Four

this scene, to me, was the most telling lmfao. it’s right after damen is whipped. you could argue that radel is just a servant in the employ of the royal household, so is of course going to be loyal to the prince, but he seems genuinely surprised of the prince’s cruelty towards damen. not only that, but he slaps him and immediately assumes damen must have done something. which - i mean, technically he did lmao. not necessarily enough to deserve having the skin flayed from his back, but you know. if laurent was in the habit of torturing pets and slaves, why would the overseer react this way?

“The men guarding him were the Prince’s Guard, and had no affiliation with the Regent whatsoever. It surprised Damen how loyal they were to their Prince, and how diligent in his service, airing none of the grudges and complaints that he might have expected, considering Laurent’s noxious personality. Laurent’s feud with his uncle they took up wholeheartedly; there were deep schisms and rivalries between the Prince’s Guard and the Regent’s Guard, apparently.” Captive Prince, Chapter Four

laurents relationships with his guards are also some of the biggest indicators that he isn’t just a spoiled brat, but can insire a deep loyalty in his men. even if they do all want to fuck him. ah, sexual harassment. it’s also hilarious that damen immediately assumes they’re loyal to him because they want to fuck him - nice projection there, dude. we know a bit more about laurent and his guards thanks to green but for a season, but this little bit here is interesting.

“Laurent was indeed good at talking. He accepted sympathy gracefully. He put his position rationally. He stopped the flow of talk when it became dangerously critical of his uncle. He said nothing that could be taken as an open slight on the Regency. Yet no one who talked to him could have any doubt that his uncle was behaving at best misguidedly and at worst treasonously.”  Captive Prince, Chapter Five

Damen felt himself turn ashen, as the threat sank in. ‘Would it hurt worse than a lashing for me to cut down someone you care for?’ said Laurent.” Captive Prince, Chapter Seven

this isn’t really relevant to my thesis lmfao i just love this exchange bc it gives SO MUCH information about laurent and his uncle in just three lines of dialogue. what has the regent done, who did he cut down just to hurt laurent? when and how did laurent learn that? p a i n 

“Laurent’s fussy horse began acting out again, and he leaned forward in the saddle, murmuring something as he stroked her neck in an uncharacteristically gentle gesture to quiet her.” Captive Prince, Chapter Nine. 

HORSEY NO- lmfao this scene just hurts so badly on the reread. especially later on, in book 3 i think, where laurent says something like “i provoked my uncle.” he’s really blaming himself for his uncle KILLING HIS HORSE, his horse that his murdered brother trained, one of the only living connections to auguste... all because his uncle could not let a single miniscule plan laurent had set go through without some kind of repercussion. literally all laurent did was do something to stop an innocent group of people from being abused, nothing to undermine his uncle’s rule, but because the regent is VILE he could not let laurent have even this. he’s so good with her, too. he must have known by this point and also known that there was no way to stop this. P A I N

“‘I know that you have somehow arranged this,’ said Erasmus. He was incapable of hiding what he felt, and just seemed to radiate embarrassed happiness. ‘You kept your promise. You and your master. I told you he was kind,’ Erasmus said. ‘You did,’ said Damen. He was pleased to see Erasmus happy. Whatever Erasmus believed about Laurent, Damen wasn’t going to dissuade him. ‘He’s even nicer in person. Did you know he came and talked to me?’ said Erasmus. ‘—He did?’ said Damen. It was something he couldn’t imagine. ‘He asked about . . . what happened in the gardens. Then he warned me. About last night.’ ‘He warned you,’ said Damen. ‘He said that Nicaise would make me perform before the court and it would be awful, but that if I was brave, something good might come at the end of it.’ Erasmus looked up at Damen curiously. ‘Why do you look surprised?’ ‘I don’t know. I shouldn’t be. He likes to plan things in advance,’ said Damen.” Captive Prince, Chapter 9.

this is the first in-text confirmation we have that laurent has a good heart beneath his layers and layers of trauma-induced lashing out. book one often skeeves people out because of its graphic and, honestly, yes, kind of sexualized depiction of rape, slavery, and depravity, but beneath it all you meet these two protagonists who are going to have all of their most deeply held views about each other challenged. laurent from very early on is shaken to his core when damen refuses to rape nicaise in the ring - it cracks the very foundations of the person he’d built up in his head as this horrible monster who killed his brother in cold blood. and damen keeps defying laurents expectations by being a good person through and through. on the other hand, laurent spends the first part of the book taking out years of anger on damen, but here for the first time we see him do something just because its the kind thing to do. yes, torveld is an ally against his uncle, but laurent has clearly been scheming with him for a while now, and he’s now overlooking his hatred of damen and working with him just because none of the slaves deserve whats happened to them. it’s such a sweet moment.

“One of the other men, eyeing them, approached a moment later. ‘Don’t mind Jean. He’s in a foul mood. He was the one had to stick a sword through the mare’s throat and put her down. The Prince tore strips off him for not doing it fast enough.’” Captive Prince, Chapter Nine.

HORSEY NO- pt 2. this is just another really sweet and sad detail - laurent being so upset that the horse’s death could have been more painless. it must have hurt so much to see her in pain, and to know that the only way for that pain to end was being put down as quickly as possible. i wuv him. im sad

that’s it, though there are still a few more chapters left in the book. this isn’t providing any new information, of course, the path of the three books is to show that laurent isnt the man we meet in book one, that he’s actually sweet, and earnest, and he’s been fighting his own battle practically alone against his abuser since he was fifteen years old. also, the reveal that laurent knew who damianos was from the start makes it clear imo that all of his violence in book 1 was supposed vengence, not... him being evil. he apologizes explicitly in-text, and also, all of the acts of violence he commits cause serious problems for him in terms of his future alliance which he then needs to fix. i just love how layered these books are, how there’s so much information in them that makes rereading almost more fun than reading them for the very first time!

It depends on the person. For me it is a little bit dramatic as I had to go through turmoil of pain and shock. No, I am not doxed. I won’t go into details but still it should not be easy to let go the end of long 4 years friendship. I let the fuck go many things that have been said and done to me on this platform but the betrayal of my loyal unconditioned friendship is not one of them. Call it dramatic, for me it was valuable lesson and reminder that everyone can be vicious snake regardless of their political views.

I don’t know either about the kind of purity points. I hear about them for first time. I didn’t do it for any reward. Or in fact, no, I did it for one reward – healthy communication in the fandom. The middle ground is not in quotation marks. These people exist and my dying breath won’t change this fact.

All what I did with that post was call for fair and equal treatment for everyone in the fandom. I didn’t place myself above anyone. I didn’t tell people how I am morally superior to them. I condemned the act of bullying just because someone is different than myself. Do you really want to describe a call for fair and equal treatment of people and condemn for bullying - annoying, condescending and white knight-y? Really? By using such words you only reveal that you do not support what I call for.

There is a difference. First, I don’t think that is acceptable to generalize such big group of people with the victimhood mantle. I know many people who are not always like that. This should not be default characterization just because it is an excuse. Second, let we accept that generalization and then what? What you are trying to say and imply with this statement? Just because poc and guys feel it strongly then their representation should be somehow an excuse for their behavior and acts? People should let bullying, lies and manipulations to be spread around about the books only because one group of fans are making them? Being poc or being gay doesn’t turn every word into the absolute truth. Everyone is judged what they say and how they read and analyze on their own merit not on their strong feels. In this fandom we do not discuss real life politics, we do not discuss behavior of real life humans, we do not judge real life behavior, we do not share truths of many or lies of many. We discuss predetermined fictional books and its predetermined fictional characters with given objective facts and given tools to analyze them. Representation* would matter if the books are open code and many people determine how the story to be written as every person has an opinion on something. The hate that JM is going through is really bad and I have personally reported those accounts on twt etc. I even took a few snapshots of a tiktok video comment section... 2. Loving member

Jimin is the member that I connect emotionally to, he's a sentimental person but he just doesn't show it you just have to pay attention on his behaviour and actions. He consoles many of the members and he provides comfort for them. The picture I attached below sets a great example.

1. BTS MAMA 2018... It was a tough year for them. They were close to disbanding, and the members were emotionally drained. My heart sank when I saw hobi breaking down in front of the crowd, you can find tons of fancams but you should take a close look at Jimin. He handled the situation very well and I love the way he gives his subtle touch of love towards the other members.

2. Taehyung grandma death announcement

I don't think that I need to explain the about the situation. Taehyung was really sad and felt guilty as he couldn't mention his grandma name. He broke down and Jimin immediately noticed him and ran towards him and just gave him little pat/huggie.

Even by looking at the picture you can see the comfort. You know that GCF-TOKYO song “there for you’ which implies that Jk means he will be there for jimin but "you gotta be there for me too” which means jimin gotta be there for him too. After Namjoon Jimin has the most remarkable academic achievements in bts. He was one of the top students in junior high and was THE top student in Busan arts high school from ALL the departments. Fun fact Jimin IQ is 128! He was valedictorian too.

I really respect and idolize him. His personality is unique and its different.He's been through alot. Being kicked from BTS for 8+ times, the members ranking his looks as the last and being called fat and ugly, that's really disturbing. He starved and went on diets just to please the audience and to have a jawline. He works his ass of and he really deserves more. He's obviously cutie,sexy,lovely,sweet guy! He prioritize his career, family and fans before anything. He has absolute heavenly vocals (+crazyyy high notes) and he is the definition of stage presence. PARK JIMIN IS THE STANDARD. for me, it's really not just scenes, but body language & just in general, how they are with each other, you know? dan and serena grin at each other and hug SO much, you can tell that being around each other in s1 made them both so happy, and even after that glow fades the way they look for comfort in each other... top level stuff. the way blair looks at dan... we never see her as radiant at any other point. she was not looking at anyone else like this. and gosh, dan and nate. they're both so comfortable around each other that there's absolutely nothing weird about like. discussing that one ex girlfriend whom they both share AND both were in love with. there is literally no other duo who trusts/enjoys each other's company so much that they're comfortable in a love triangle. (probably because they're more in love with each other than with the girl, but that is not the point. or is it?)

derena: i tagged one of my ds reblogs as 'the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one' and like. look at them! this hug from 1x10 kills me in the best way. they are both the literal embodiment of :D when they see each other! i love 1x10 as a whole moment, their entire thing at cotillion is so sweet and they're both so happy. the fact that he is talking about his chemistry teacher during this kiss in 1x07. that bit at the end of 1x05 when they talk about their siblings (being there for their sibling because of fallible parents being a derena parallel makes me simultaneously really sad and really soft, tbh). 1x05 gives me SO MUCH SECONDHAND EMBARRASSMENT but the way they walk off together arms around each other does something to me - these are two people who are still getting to know each other but who really like what they see, and who trust each other and. are just having a good time together! back when derena was my OTP, the 1x11 "your story's about me?" was absolutely a fave, too, and i still adore it, albeit in a different, more nostalgic way. i like a dan who writes cute stories about serena. no empty shell sabrina van skoneker bullshit. she is so much like you, daniel! you'd be shattered if she did this to you. don't do this to her. tbh, most derena moments from s1 are just A+ romance. the bit in 2x02 in the jitney is so funny, they're SO bad at being exes. the bit in... 3x03 i think?? i don't remember... on the contrary. when they're talking about dan's fling w/ georgina and serena's relationship with carter, the ease with which they talk and how happy/supportive they are of each other's new relationships... yeah. love to see it.

i also really like any instance of them having honest/open conversations. 1x13, talking about how serena is concerned about blair. 1x08, serena talking to dan about feeling jealous of vanessa. this bit from the touch of eva or whatever that episode is. 4x04 i think. this is the conversation everyone is trying to get dan to have and he's avoiding EVERYONE else. derena interactions in 3x21 (can't find a gif right now) - the fact that dan is with serena when her dad abandons them, the fact that he goes all the way there with her. 2x07, "i'm really glad you're nate's friend. he really needs someone like you right now" (though i'm cheating, that's technically a d/n moment too klhdflkgf). there's a bit in s4 where he's advising her against having an affair w/ colin, i don't remember the ep number, but the way he takes her side so easily and naturally and puts due blame/responsibility solely on her professor... yeah. 4x10 i think this ep is?? idk. but like my tags say, im sentimental about this moment because while what dan was doing was irresponsible, sneaking her out of the ostroff, he was the only person in this episode who was actually talking to her and listening to her and taking her seriously. nobody else was doing that!!

i probably have more moments i'm not remembering, but we're only 1/3 into this answer and LOOK AT THE WORDS, good lord, i'm sorry.

dair: my favourite dair episode is hands down despicable b (5x21) which i have heard is an uncommon answer. i just love the conflict resolution of it all, okay!!! 1x04 & 2x08 are like. standard answers any dair shipper will give, and i'm no different. i love dan being able to give blair advice and blair actually taking his advice even though they're not friends yet!!! be right back, yelling at the intimacy of it all!! 5x16, with their getting together (this little kiss and dan being so startled by it), blair admitting a flaw she genuinely does have and dan saying it's not awful because it's her, which is just. romance at its finest. those vows, good lord. 5x18.... they're having fun! blair showing up at the loft in lingerie for dan... the delight on her face.... (i know this moment blows up in their face but when she's there she looks so happy and proud of herself and this was like THE moment when i was like. oh. dair is really the heart of this garbage show huh).

i think for me, the thing that really sells dan & blair together is the serena of it all. both of them love serena more fiercely than anyone else, and that is what brings them together. (fwiw i definitely think nate loved serena this much and this deeply, too; the writers just wanted to pop the serenate balloon, which even i think was extremely unnecessary and ooc.) but (& i have so much meta about this) their relationship grows beyond serena. their entire s4 arc is SO good. i love how comfortable around each other they are, in such an adult way, in the sense of like. they both bring so much stability to each other? morgan tagged this edit "the marrieds" and like. yeah. b offers to help him shave. they're having breakfast & reading the paper together.

all the love declarations we got that weren't a simple 'i love you.' be your charming wonderful self (how could she not love you/ tell me what would make you happy, dan) i told chuck he doesn't have my heart anymore (you spent your life earning the keys to set you free when you were free all along!!!!) dan's pep talk to blair in 5x21 (already linked a gifset earlier, here's another one if you want i guess). there's definitely more... but honestly, the way the dair arc was executed was so good - while i do have my complaints, i also think keeping those aside, it was SO close to perfect. i love dan & blair's banter and gradually becoming closer and closer and closer. it felt very organic and real and GOSH. the way penn & leighton looked at each other while playing dan and blair...... it's just SO MUCH.

date: this is the hardest, because it's. *screams*. maybe you saw me losing my mind over those 2 seconds of nate handing dan a waffle? i love almost every scene with these two, even the hellish s6 breakup scene. my favourite episode for d/n (& also favourite gg episode in general) is 2x06 - i love the homoerotic subtext of it all. nate pretending to be dan because dan's name is the first name that came to his head. dan flirting w/ nate while tied to that thing, in his underwear. them becoming friends. and 2x07 as a follow-up to that! dan getting nate to live in the loft with the humphreys for a while. i am so soft.

4x09 is a terrible episode in general, especially for serena my beloved, but the d/n moments in that one? off the CHARTS. this weird overly macho flirting, in some ways THE most iconic d/n line. this entire finish each other's sentences nonsense. someone (i think it was ana but im not sure?) compared the energy of those scenes i just linked to the book blairenate love triangle resolution, blairena choosing each other over nate in the books, date choosing each other over serena in the show (if only! RIP.) after the saints & sinners ball, this cute little moment of 'youre the only one who understands me. please tell me they went home together. i mean. how could they not have.

3x07, them watching vampire porn together. a tag i used on ao3 (& also on here, once) is 'nate brings out the himbo in dan'. here is a prime example. 'is she levitating?' i don't fucking know, dan, what do you think?? (i was telling my partner that that's what i love abt dair vs date. around blair dan is an intellectual, a librarian, an art historian, a museum curator. around nate it's like dan is competing to be #1 himbo on the show. can my girlfriend actually fly? i don't know, dan. i can't believe you're seriously asking such a question.)

when i read your posts about history, im always in awe about how much you know about history and how, shall i say, in love you are with it. i used to learn a lot about history and was good at it in school but with the course im taking now which is IT, it kinda clashes with history. i also need to make more brain space.

btw, where do you learn all this or whats your source? through books/internet? it amazes me that you know so much. even then there must be more you want to write about in your posts.

also i agree how many people are taking TV shows that based on historical/real figures into facts when most of it are very fiction based. i dont mind them really but a lot of people dont think for themselves. ironically, im currently at the moment writing a small report about "evaluating information". some of the points given in my lecture slides which i think fits so much with these type of people are that 'they are too reliant on technology or other people for them to do their own thinking'. ive seen them give stupid reasoning such as 'well if its based on the real people so a lot of its must be real'. what pains me even more is to know that they're grown adults. sigh. there's so much i want to vent on this but i think u may know what i would want to say since you too and others feel the same about this.

And you are also right that I want to write even more. I would never stop writing and no one has time to read such long posts. Even then, my posts are pretty long. So I am by no means a professional historian but I can tell you my process.

First, I watch a documentary or read a book that is more "popular history-oriented". For me, the Plantagenets documentary by Robert Bartlett is a must watch (Its on Youtube and beautifully made). I also have to buy his new book which seems like a killer! Second, I find more detailed books on the person. For example, in the documentary he talks about Geoffrey of Anjou and it captures my interest. Then I look for a detailed book on Geoffrey. Good books have footnotes and from there I read scholarly articles and look through real archives that I can access online. I am lucky since as a uni student, I have access to these for free through university. I recently found a Victorian source that has the measurements for the supposed bones of Anne Mortimer (Richard III's grandmother!!). Its crazy the kind of things that are out there which you can't even find even in the books. A lot of archival materials can be found for free on archive.org too. I really enjoy looking through the archives and making notes on my conclusions. Blog posts are also great gateways. I read https://murreyandblue.wordpress.com/ religiously and there is also an Edward II blog. I hope this helps you somewhat :D. I can always look up things for you guys if you want. And also Facebook groups are awesome for little trivia and information that you may not know otherwise. I found out that Richard, Earl of Cambridge's (Richard III's grandfather and RoY's father) body had been found in the Victorian times and he was described as a giant with his head placed between his knees.

And I agree. For some reason, fiction dehumanizes them rather than humanizing them. These real living people become caricatures. I can think of them on the top of my head that's how basic fiction writers are. And I doubt this will ever change. honestly, since he almost fits rage but not quite, he.. almost acts like a prince of hope (unfortunate eridan kinnie). destroying beliefs and asserting his reality as the Absolute Truth, dragging others like aimsey into his delusions and being in a situation where aimseys putting her faith into him even though hes not a good person because she feels the need to believe in him and connect with him, because she genuinely feels like hes the only friend they have left, and because aimsey wants desperately to believe in what beep is trying to show her, desperately wants to understand. he shuts down things he believes to be false, to the point where he can make them false by simply destroying the problem.

hes a force of outward destruction, destroying what he believes to be flaws in others. theyre heavily defensive, putting everyone beneath them, believing hes the one thats doing it Right, and ultimately, he believes its his right to control things. he doesnt trust anyone, he reacts to any fear he may have with anger, lashes out, and the "TELL. NO ONE" scene almost showcases beep shattering and hurting aimsey before he steps back and give a quick "sorry!". his arc seems to be leading up to him realizing he can care about aimsey, that he can trust her to believe him and in him, and he seems to be dealing with the concept of trusting aimsey with his beliefs

hes definitely not a general hope player, but specifically prince of hope could fit. onto possible void class combos, with, first, the notable fact that we dont know what kind of person beep may have been in the past, other than that he was destructive. we know about some events in his past, and how he feels about them (kinda), but generally, this means hes very versatile and has many class possibilities, depending on how we want to interpret what we do know.

for example, he could be a maid whose now in the apeshit stage, stubborn and repressive. its entirely possible he got so tired of listening to the other spirits that he got to the unhealthy stage, exploded, and now without anything stopping him, hes doing whatever the fuck he wants, because hes decided none of it matters, that its all irrelevant and he doesnt have to care because its his fucking universe and no one can stop him from playing god. he spends his time doing menial things, because to him, its all equally unimportant, so why not waste time? he cuts down unnecessary tasks, weeds out what he finds useless, etc etc. basically, he should still be independent, but he needs to be brought back down to earth (metaphorically), because hes kind of burnt himself out and is now fucking with things because he feels none of it matters anyways

sylph of void sort of works too, mainly his meddling and tendency to shut down anything that could reveal something he doesnt want revealed, as well as shutting down others viewpoints and he covers up shit whenever he wants. his motivations are, really, mostly unknown to us, other than that he seems to think this is fun. otherwise, he also has a tendency to try and fix things he thinks needs fixing (like getting rid of fairies and space creatures), and will often try to fix mistakes he sees in mortals. however, slyphs are ultimately healers, and beep just. is not a healer, and he doesnt necessarily invite creation of void in any way, since void isnt really destruction of anything, and what he does invite is destruction of things. hes also just too active to be a slyph

so, with the previous prince assession, theres also the possibility of him being a prince of light, which would mean he would act more like a void player. hed destroy light with light, destroy the importance of information with information. they strip away the importance of things, uses plain fact to force the perception that nothings really important. he dismisses the importance of things, purposefully acts ignorant to draw away from what he knows, destroys knowledge itself from a power standpoint (wiping aimseys memory), and in extreme cases, can physically destroy anything in his way, or assert over and over that what he said/did isnt real, that nothings true or important other than what hes saying. again, little shit. if i had to make up my mind, i think prince of light fits the most

as for aimsey, i think life does fit him really well, shes definitely got the similar "girl next door" kind of vibes, while still being really interesting in her own right. she definitely starts out as a typical fictional life player, enthusiastic, energetic, genuine, wanting to effect the world. shes a normal girl (and this isnt an insult, rather, her being so normal ties the magical themes of the bear smp together really well, and its a perfect way to use a life player, make them be a catalyst for both the normal life player and eccentric others to shine). however, as she struggles with losing trust in bear and not being treated well, not having anyone that cares about them specifically, the energy starts to falter, but comes back when they feel the need to be rebellious. notably, while aspects arent super literal, she contrasts beep so much in just how alive she is, which fits her being a life player rather well. except, as i said, aspects arent literal, which means aimsey being a life player translates to her showing what life means in a metaphorical sense.

life is about agency. its about what you do, your ability to do so, its about asserting your will. not what drives you, but simply you doing at all. interesting enough, life players can be hard to pin down because life is about desire and agency, while the players class defines their ideology. life players can become obsessed with an idea that they need to do something, that they need to change how systems work, and often can cloak their want to fulfill their individual desires as altruistic want to fulfill others needs and desires (i.e., aimsey wants a friend and someone who pays attention to her and is genuine towards her, she feels like shes found that in beep, and as such starts to cloak her want to be his friend as aimsey wanting to help beep rather than aimsey themself).

as for said class.. this was, hard. because of how heavily influenced life is by the class its paired with, and because aimseys arc right now is trying to deal with feeling like shes too much and unneeded, it means that i have to really consider how that connects with which classes struggles. so, i ended up with sylph. aimsey is a creator, and she tries to heal as well. "allowing creation/healing of life or inviting creation/healing through life". from a literal standpoint, she tries to help bear heal by trying to get him to open up, to live, to make friends and interact with people. this could almost seem like a blood player move, but while a lot of aimseys arc is about bonds and relationships, shes not really a strong connecter or leader, shes just good at inspiring others to be, to her own detriment.

also notably, unhealthy sylphs crave, whether craving more of their own aspect, or craving another aspect when they feel theirs is not enough. aimsey talks a lot about how she grew up doing things by her lonesome, and now that she feels like people are moving on without her, she may be craving blood (that sounds so awful out of context). she wants attachments, wants to be the person that brings everyone together, but.. she isnt, not in a way thats appreciated. and due to her insecurities, she sees this as a flaw within himself, and as something to fix. so, she latches onto beep, and desperately tries to have as much of an effect on their life as they do on hers. like life players in general, sylphs try to solve their problems under the guise of helping someone else with theirs. currently, aimsey seems to be trying to find what she needs to do, because when she tried to do what she thought she needed to do, she (from her perspective) failed, so now shes trying to make up for her perceived failure within herself by trying to help herself through helping beep. i would think into it even more but i think its probably best to just leave it here KEKW

Okay reviews came in on my post joking about making an essay comparing bugsnax to drugs so i guess i must do it now. I want to clarify that i didnt invent this theory, this was mentioned by some ppl here, some let’s players joked about too and even Tv Tropes mentions it, so im just going to ramble about it bc idc im hyperfixating HSBDSAMS. So let’s go (beware of spoilers)

First off we have how bugsnax are. Bugsnsax are a thing that make you desire them, they change your mind and body, you become extremely easy addicted to them, everyone in the island always talks of how goood and tasty they are. You could even theorize they can also block pain, implying by floofty’s leg. They change one’s mind, they make you need them until there is nothing of you left.

Now let’s describe the grumpuses side quests, but instead of saying bugsnax, i’ll say drugs. Wiggle to start. A famous star, with a single great hit, now she cant find the right inspiration to make another song. She is stressed and feels like she needs to come up with something new so she starts consuming ‘drugs’ thinking they will give her the inspiration she is looking for. She even does things like manipulating the man she loves in order to get more.

Another example, an interesting one, Cromdo. Cromdo is a poor man with a terrible job he hates. His solution to finally have money and being able to live his dream? Selling ‘drugs’. 

Chandlo is a very athletic guy. He constantly works out so he can become stronger and be able to protect his boyfriend, he even tends to push himself too hard as seen when he was trying to pull off the stump, so he starts consuming ‘drugs’ because he believes it will make him stronger.

Shelda is a one that i quite like. The spiritual hippie, trying to convince everyone in the island about how bad and toxic the ‘drugs’ are by pulling her whole show, but in the end even she cant resist the urge to consume them, thing she is clearly ashamed of, and its almost a “Don’t end up like me, kid” situation.

Gramble too is a good one, because he doesnt directly eat grumpuses (unless you force feed him that with this metaphor is even more awful), but he stills uses ‘drugs’ as a way to cope with his family abandoning him, thinking they love him and will make him happy.

I could go on and on explaining every single one of the grumpuses side quests like this, but its not necessary, since they all end up in the same thing. ‘Drugs’ dont help them. In fact, in most cases they do worse. They try to fix their lives consuming them, sure that they will give them what they are missing and make them happy, until in the end of all of their side quests they realize ‘drugs’ wont solve anything.

There is also something interesting to point out, and it is that bugsnax ONLY affect those that have a deep emotional issue, a hole they need to fill with something. All the grumpuses have a deep personal issue they need to deal with but instead ignore thinking ‘drugs’ are the solution for it. The only exceptions? The protagonist and Filbo. Meanwhile Filbo DOES consume ‘drugs’, Beffica mentions how he doesnt even like it, he just does it because everyone else does. One could theorize this is because Filbo doesnt have such deep emotional trauma that he needs to deal with. Yes, he does have problems, he has a very low self steem, but i think out of the entire cast is the one that tries the hardest.

For the protagonist, they are straight up are allergic to ‘drugs’ (which well irl would straight up kill you) and they’re not even aware of it. Why are they the only one that can’t consume them? Because their only problems are literally their job. They dont have any other sort of problem, they just need to get this story ready so they don’t lose their job. They aren’t out of ideas, out of money, out of second chances, etc. They just have one single problem that is being easily solved.

In conclusion, Bugsnax are a metaphor about drugs and how they can’t solve your problems, but will in fact just ruin you until there is nothing of you left,

son of Apollo, God of Music, poetry, archery, medicine and sun

the most humble out of his siblings although being one of the most talented ones

likes to relax in gentle sun rays while the sun is rising or setting, making the light bend under his fingers how he wants them to

his serious appearance earned him respect but when you get to know him he is the softest and nicest being you could find

likes to be around other campers in half blood camp but love to be alone as well from time to time

when he is frustrated or mad you can find him at training space with all of the archery targets suffocating with arrows

likes to wake up the whole camp with his gentle and beautiful harp playing

as a son of the god of music, his voice is angel-like but is too shy and doesn’t sing in front of others often

everyone, even his siblings are begging him to sing when they are having camp dinner around a fire ... it takes longer to convince him but it is more than worth it 

with Zeus’s son, Vernon, they are the main controllers of the weather around

one of the only ones against which aphrodite’s children charms can’t do anything

which they are pretty huffy about since they think children of Apollo are a perfect match for them

friends with everyone that is genuine and fair like him

one of the main healers in the camp

trying to help and heal mental illnesses or problems of others because he knows from experience that without a healthy mind your body is useless and life is sad

he came to the camp in his late teens and it didn’t take a long time for Apollo to claim him as his son 

because every time Seungcheol was happy sun shined and when he was sad it hid behind the clouds 

children of Demeter loves him to be around so their gardens are full of light

a lot of campers have a massive crush on him because he’s very manly and has good leadership but he always refuses it when his friends, mainly Wonwoo and Vernon, are telling this to him

he has strong powers and will but a fragile and sensitive soul full of colours to discover

Wonwoo:

son of Hecate, Goddess of magic, crossroads and ghosts

the quiet kid that is walking around the camp with a book in his hands most of the time, having that mysterious irresistible vibe around him

giving people shivers when he is around, but it is not uncomfortable, its actually pleasant and kind of magical

first, appear to be cold and unwelcoming but those few that are close to him discovered his heart-warming personality 

best demigod to ask for advice since he can sense which of your paths going from the crossroad is the best for you... kind of 7th sense of his

loves to loosen up and just stare at the sky throught out starry nights

often talks ghosts of people wandering around the camp not being able to find the way to the other side

helping them to find what is still chaining them down to this world and cooperating with them to find a way to the other side for them

at first, campers though he is talking to himself, but after some time they got used to Wonwoo talks with ghosts that no one other than few children of Hecate could see

sometimes scaring others when he is taking care of or being friends with magical creatures that even demigods are not so sure about 

he often gets visions of near future 

it’s convenient to have him around so he can warn you and you or he can change it for better

he is always going to the forests around to find those curious and adventurous children of Hermes, mainly Dino

helping them find the right way on the crossroad to safely come back home

quite shy and not very social demigod and it’s very rare to get close to him, but those who do get close to him are considered very lucky

came to the camp by himself as he started noticing the traits of demigods he read so much in his books

claimed by Hecate as her son as soon as he came and finally spoke to a ghost for the first time even tho he was seeing them before

giving his friends crystals enchanted by him that is protecting, for example, their health, their relationships or powers and many more

seem calm and not harmful but try to hurt his friends or any innocent magical creature and you’ll regret getting to know his dark side

Mingyu:

son of Poseidon, God of oceans, seas and rivers

one of the most popular demigods in the camp, he is aware of it and actually enjoys it sometimes too much

loves to compete and fight in the arena with other demigods, it’s almost like a leisure activity for him because he is obviously very talented

he loves to fight mainly the children of Ares, Nike and Athena to prove them that he is a better warrior than them and with children of Zeus to challenge another demigod from “big 3″

very social demigod, one of the Poseidon children that has more “wild waters” in them 

can’t be absent in any of parties that are specialities of Dionysus cabin and his children 

“work hard, play hard”, that is his life motto

he is a hard worker and trains his powers very intensely and regularly every day, never complaining about a thing

sometimes he is actually fascinated by his own abilities and watches in awe with big puppy eyes when he can manipulate the water into any shape he wants to 

enjoys the attention of Aphrodite’s children and how they are complimenting him just to get close to him and his stunning appearance 

but actually has soft spot for children of Hephaestus, whos fire was the complete opposite of him and their hard-working nature

they were harder workers than him and even harder to impress which motivated him to be even better and be acknowledged by them once

friends with everyone... at least he think so since he talks with every single soul in the camp

really active and trying to help everyone with everything. even when he doesn’t have any experience and sometimes things end up with a catastrophe

like to relax by swimming alone far, far away from everything or taking walks around the bottom of a big lake since he is able to breathe underwater

came to the camp at a very young age 

he was already but still shortly claimed by his father when his extreme powers and talents started showing up early

not really favoured by children of Hypnos thanks to his loud existence and their love for sleep, which is impossible with him near

very loyal and ready to risk his life for a good thing or his loved ones

loves to flirt with basically anyone but he is secretly waiting for “the one” he will fall for at first sight

Vernon:

son of Zeus, God of the sky, weather and thunder

not shy but not really bold... just chilling and living his best life

really popular among demigods and in camp in general thanks to being the son of the king of the gods but doesn't really care

creating peace between campers it’s his part-time job at this point, mainly between fierce children of Ares and proud children of Poseidon and sometimes even between his own siblings

every time leaving a good first impression with his manners, humour, handsome face and peaceful aura...everyone wants to be his friend

can’t help and find thunderstorms very calming and relaxing

naturally one of the best fighters in the camp but honestly hates to fight with others in the arena or at training

rather training his lightning powers alone because he is worried he could hurt someone with his destructive powers

one of the only Zeus children in centuries that has black feathered wings that let him fly and bring storm with flapping them throught out his flights

best friends with demigods considered by most of the campers as “outsiders” like children of Hades, Persephone or Achlys

supportive and fascinated by the powers of his best friends

with Apollo’s son, Seungcheol, they are the main controllers of the weather around

they are both making sure to keep a perfect balance along with four seasons 

natural but not intentional heart drop of the camp, he doesn’t even notice something like others almost drooling over him

he has extremely good manners and charm that is making any girl melt, their godly origin is not playing a role since he captures hearts of all 

came to a camp in his middle teens when his mother started noticing some traits of his godly father

wasn’t claimed for a very long time since he wasn’t really giving out and showing any particular powers

it was a couple of years already and his father claimed him after Vernon out of frustration of being lonely finally discovered his thunder wings

helping his friends as much as he could even if it’s just making rain appear for them to sleep better

he has one of the most precious souls existing and he deserves just the best

the piece i was tagged to explain my process on is this oc piece! unfortunately i have a habit of deleting my original clip studio file once ive finished my art and saved it as a new png file, so i dont have the file to show the sketch and different stages of this piece. but I still can go through my general process and talk about how i did that piece!

1. planning

honestly i think about the art that i want to do a lot, and in this last year or so ive thought about the art i want to do more than ive been able to actually create and finish that art that i want to do. for my planning i tend to do a lot of different thumbnail sketches for the art im thinking of

these are some examples of thumbnails, a lot of times ill do thumbnails just on pencil and paper and with some of these theyre done quickly with my fingers on my phone note function on a day where i was feeling too bad to get up and draw on paper but still wanted to get the thumbnail ideas down. two of these are for the same songxiao piece that i still havent finished and i have more thumbnails digitally on clip studio for the same piece, i do a lot more thumbnails when a piece isnt working the way i want it to and theres times where ill completely scratch a thumbnail or a sketch and start over in order to do more thumbnails because i dont feel happy with some aspect of it.

two of these are small gouche painting thumbnails for two pieces i did maybe a month or so ago, i did the thumbnails and then tried to expand on them digitally and im wanting to do more thumbnail paintings like this in the future because it was fun

for the piece of my oc trio it was based off a series of ask prompts i got for a few different outfit prompt memes i had reblogged, so i based their outfits on the ones in the meme. when im drawing figures i tend to try and get the movement down in the poses when im sketching, i do several rough sketches of the pose before beginning to start setting down lines (if im doing lineart at all because sometimes i dont like doing lineart and do a more lineless painting kind of style). i really try to get my art to convey some kind of emotion, in the oc piece i wanted it to feel fun and like youre seeing three best friends while theyre out on the town having a fun night

2. creating

this is the only real example i have of a piece in the middle of being filled in and created, this piece is one that im really not very happy with & have had lying around for a while and ill probably scrap it and try to come at it from a different perspective at some point. but anyway it still shows what i do, i lay down a kind of neutral gray color underneath my final sketch/lineart if im doing lineart in that piece and then i start picking out the colors that i want for the piece and kind of setting out a pallette for myself. i dont do this color pallette thing 100% of the time but i do it really often, especially if im working on a commission or a larger piece where i know theres going to be a lot of colors or if its a piece where im not sure exactly what color scheme i want so laying out the colors together helps me kind of decide what kind of scheme i want. i am sooooo picky about my colors in my art i am genuinely obsessed with colors in art and there are times where i really have to stop myself from working on something forever just constantly adding more colors or putting little tiny changes and gradients in the colors.

after ive got the colors i want down i tend to try and block out parts of the piece with the base color for that section, and then i start to paint with the colors that i want to go on top of that base color from there.

once im satisfied with the colors/shading/rendering and everything ill go back and look over things and will fix things that look off or sometimes completely redo segments if they dont look right to me. when i was younger and mainly doing digital art using my phone and my fingers i would use a lot of filters and overlays on top of my art once i was done, and honestly im glad to not be doing that anymore because i dont think it made my art look any better. i do color adjustments and sometimes will put on a color overlay or a layer to emphasize the shadows and the light in the piece, but i try to keep those layers to a minimum and like i said before i have a tendency to obsess over the colors and ill spend a good amount of time in the color adjustment tool of clip studio and then ill just decide "actually it looks fine as it is" so yeah!

3. posting

i feel like i dont have a lot to say here gbfm i mean i honestly have a lot of thoughts about the relationship between artists and social media and how social media changes our views on art including our own art and how we can feel like we constantly need to be posting new art and just become content machines churning out new stuff. but ill save that rant for another time. i used to be really concerned about how many notes my art would get when i was younger, and i dont at all blame anyone who still is very concerned about that bc it sucks when u work hard on something youve created and then you dont get a lot of recognition for it, but honestly within the last two years or so i feel like ive begun to have a lot healthier relationship with posting my art. i really just post my art on my art blog, reblog it to my main blog, and then thats that yknow! i do really appreciate any and all support people give me, it means the world to me, but for me having the mentality where i dont need to post all the art i make and i dont need to be posting every day or every week or every month even has been a lot healthier for me because then im not constantly asking myself why didnt this get notes is my art awful??? and yeah i just kind of post it and my brain goes okay were done with that art we gotta make more

ive honestly been struggling a lot with art thru the pandemic and if youre reading this and have been struggling with creating in any way recently or even before the pandemic, please know theres no shame in having trouble creating and it doesnt make you bad at whatever it is u create!
